New Jersey gambling regulators are investigating whether

FanDuel's sports book should pay out more than $82 Womens Johnny Townsend Jersey ,000 to a man who was given exorbitant odds for the Denver Broncos to win Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.Anthony Prince of Newark made his bet and was handed a ticket at incredible 750-1 odds with about a minute left in the game, as the Broncos trailed by 2 points on their final drive. Denver kicked a field goal with 6 seconds left to win 20-19, capping a second half comeback that started with the Broncos down 12-0.FanDuel says its system should have calculated his odds at 1-6, meaning a bettor would have to wager $600 in order to win $100.Prince bet $110 on the Broncos but was stopped when he went to collect from FanDuel's betting window at the Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, New Jersey."They said, 'Oh, we can't honor this ticket,'" Prince told News12 New Jersey, which first reported the story. "I said, 'Why? This is fair and square.' They said the system had a glitch in it and they're not obligated to pay for glitches."FanDuel said in a statement that its system malfunctioned and it is not obligated to pay out on an obvious error."A small number of bets were made at the erroneous price over an 18 second period. We honored all such bets on the Broncos to win the game at the accurate market price in accordance with our house rules and industry practice, which specifically address such obvious pricing errors," FanDuel said in its statement. "We have reached out to all impacted customers and apologized for the error."How the matter is handled could have far-reaching effects on the budding sports betting industry in New Jersey at a time when new sports books are opening in some other states and lawmakers throughout the country consider whether to also jump in for the potential tax revenue. New Jersey challenged a federal ban and won a U.S. Supreme Court decision in May that cleared the way for gambling on games to expand beyond Nevada. The idea that player money and winnings would be protected and regulated by the state has been a major selling point among sports betting supporters who contrasted legal gambling with shady offshore betting sites where players often have little recourse in disputes. But gambling regulators also have policies in place to void obvious errors in sports bets.David Rebuck, director of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, said the agency is investigating whether there are grounds to compel FanDuel to pay Prince the stated payout of $82,000. He added the agency is looking "just as importantly @ how it occurred given internal controls exist to prevent such an error. Those findings might also result in the need for further action."FanDuel's operation just a few miles from New York made $3 million in its first full month in August and quickly became the most popular sports book in New Jersey.FanDuel declined to say how many bets were made at the incorrect odds.Prince said FanDuel offered him $500 and some tickets to future New York Giants games, adding he should take the offer because they're not obligated to give him anything."I said, 'Wow, for real?'" Prince said. "You'd rather go to the corner bookies now; you're not getting paid here."Follow Wayne Parry at ://WayneParryAC All we hear in the media these days is how once-again Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden is getting rid of all of general manager Reggie McKenzie’s players and will get rid of him at the end of the season. He’s definitely looking to get rid of McKenzie’s players but not necessarily McKenzie.“Well we are going to work together. Reggie and I come from the same tree in Green Bay, raised by Ron Wolf as young Green Bay Packers. I think we have a similar viewpoint in terms of what kind of players we are looking for Youth Rodney Hudson Jersey ,” Gruden said at his introductory press conference. "It has got to be a collaborative effort, whether it be a salary cap decision, a free-agent acquisition, or who we draft. We’ve got to work together. I think that is the great thing about being here.”Gruden does have his own scout working separately from McKenzie’s but there’s nothing wrong with hearing both sides of an evaluation. Then there’s the fact that Gruden’s scout already has the players dialed in that fit his system. Gruden spoke about the disadvantages McKenzie has been under with different coaches and systems. He could be giving McKenzie a chance to adapt to his system.“I think Reggie has been at a big disadvantage because the scheme constantly has changed,” Gruden told KNBR back in February. “It’s hard to pick players when your coaches don’t know what they are gonna run.”For instance, Gruden knows 2016 1st-round pick Karl Joseph is a free safety playing strong safety since the Raiders drafted him. He’s actually good playing single-high or deep-half. He just isn’t good at covering 6’7” tight ends because he’s only 5’10” himself. But in defensive coordinator Paul Guenther’s system, safeties are interchangeable so the both safeties have to be able to cover the TE. That doesn’t mean Joseph isn’t good, it means he doesn’t fit. Hence, he hasn’t playing much while the Raiders are reportedly looking to trade him.As far as playing cornerback for Guenther goes, he’s a press coverage kind of guy but it has to be a certain way. Rashaan Melvin, who was outstanding in press coverage last year with a shut-down of Antonio Brown, isn’t playing as much because of Guenther’s system. Guenther uses a motor press technique Melvin isn’t comfortable with because that’s what Guenther knows how to teach. “It was tough,” Melvin said after getting benched. “I’m a competitor. I feel like I’m a starting cornerback in this league. I’ve been playing for a long time. I’ve been making plays for a long time. Today, I didn’t start. It was a coach’s decision to go in a different direction.”Gareon Conley, the team’s 2017 1st-round pick, has been benched behind the technique Guenther wants to use as well. But Gruden and company actually like Conley so unless they can get something good for him, they’ll likely to try to develop him in Guenther’s system. “Conley is still a young guy,” Gruden said when talking about the 2nd-year man. “We’re going to reiterate that over and over. His career is just getting started. He had a couple plays last week that he’s got to get better and improve at. He will.”Another area Gruden and company are especially forcing the issue on is zone-blocking. Guards and Kelechi Osemele went downhill last year in run-blocking because of the zone-blocking scheme. So the first thing Gruden announces is he hired offensive line coach Tom Cable, Mr. Zone-blocking himself. And of course Youth Jared Cook Jersey , he didn’t adapt to the two guards. He had the two guards lose all kinds of weight to fit the zone-blocking scheme. Jackson and Osemele still protect the passer well but their run-blocking is no better than last year. They make $10 million each so if they continue not to work in zone-blocking, we’ll see how long they last. If Derek Carr ends up out of Raider Nation, it’s because Gruden wants a quarterback that can escape the pocket when it breaks down. The West Coast Offense guys like Andy Reid want the next Joe Montana, Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers. Reid who was with Gruden while he was with the Green Bay Packers, looks like he has his Favre in Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs. Sean McVay, a Gruden disciple, looks like he has his Montana in Jared Goff of the Los Angeles Rams. At one time, many called Raiders QB Derek Carr 'Baby A-Rod' but he’s not looking too much like Rodgers these days. Gruden just might move on from Carr if he doesn’t start to look like the QB he came back to coaching for. Khalil Mack, the Raiders’ 2014 1st-round pick, wanted his money so he was used to get 1st-round picks to start over with system fits. Even though he’s a generational talent, he might not be a fit with the Raiders now because defensive line coach Mike Trgovac likes and knows how to work with defensive ends that are 6’5” and above with those extra long arms like Carlos Dunlap. Hence, the Raiders got Arden Key in the third round this spring. Don’t be surprised if you see the Raiders go after Jadeveon Clowney hard next offseason.Amari Cooper is a system fit as he was in the West Coast Offense when he played at Alabama. If you look at him on tape this year, there’s nothing wrong but Carr not throwing to him. Don’t believe all that stuff about him not being able to get open. He has the same agent Khalil Mack has so he will probably hold out to get his money too. Gruden is currently looking for 1st-round pick for him and if he gets it, that’s another piece he can start over with. McKenzie is a respected talent evaluator that turned down an interview to be the GM of the Green Bay Packers this past offseason. I don’t think he would have done that knowing Gruden isn’t going to want him around. For goodness sakes, he was the 2016 NFL Executive of the Year. And there is plenty of talent he drafted unto the Raiders that Gruden isn’t using. Many of the players just don’t fit Gruden’s system so Gruden will likely move them. McKenzie is actually the one responsible for trading up to get Arden Key and Maurice Hurst. “I’ll let Reggie do that, Gruden said after the draft. “He was trading every single round to get these guys.” Key and Hurst are in the mold of Dunlap and Geno Atkins respectfully. That shows that McKenzie can quickly adapt to what Gruden wants for his offensive and defensive systems. This isn’t to say that Gruden and McKenzie are going to be together the next 10 years. But Gruden’s makeover of the Raiders doesn’t mean McKenzie will automatically be fired either. After all, Jack Del Rio is getting millions from owner Mark Davis for nothing so he might as well let McKenzie help somehow. It won’t hurt because Gruden has the final say anyway.

Rams vs Raiders fantasy football advice

Amari Cooper to heat up early Everyone calm down and focus on your breathing! The excitement of the NFL season starting along with the pressure of not knowing who to start in fantasy football is a deadly combination. But for now Youth Derek Carrier Jersey , we will help give some fantasy insight on the Oakland Raiders game on Monday night to help calm those nerves.Instead of doing start/sit like last year, we are changing it up a little with three different categories: Must start, proceed with caution and bench.Must StartWR Amari CooperIf I am the Raiders’ coaching staff, I would do all I can to make sure Amari Cooper gets the ball early and often. Not only is he the most explosive weapon on the Oakland offense, so getting him the ball wherever on the field will reward the unit, Cooper needs to get the season off to a good start to gain confidence. Any sort of repeat from last season is unacceptable and will greatly hinder the team’s chances of making a playoff push. So I would be shocked if Cooper doesn’t get a few easy catches early in the game to get his motor running. Cooper also might welcome the sight of Marcus Peters since the only good game of Cooper’s 2017 campaign was against the Kansas City Chiefs and Peters when Cooper hauled in over 200 yards in the exciting Thursday Night Football win. QB Jared GoffThe Raiders pass rush has looked real good in the preseason, but that is the preseason. The team is relying on two rookies, Arden Key and Maurice Hurst, to improve the rush. And Bruce Irvin has to become Batman not Robin. Even when they had Khalil Mack last season they struggled to get to the quarterback. Without Mack it is tough to say the unit can be improved. As such, there is a possibility that Jared Goff might have all day to throw at certain times considering that happened a fair amount last season. The one worry against Goff is if Todd Gurley gets going too well and a lead grows resulting in Sean McVay limiting Goff’s attempts. RB Todd GurleyThe Raiders run defense in 2017 was hot and cold. At the beginning of the year http://www.raidersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-mike-nugent-jersey , the team was handing out fantasy points to running backs like it was its charity service. But the team did see an improvement after the bye week. So the question becomes, what will this run defense look like? Jon Gruden brought in two maulers in Maurice Hurst and PJ Hall to help plug the middle with Justin Ellis. So in theory the run defense should be a lot better along with more disciplined coaching. But there is no Mack to shut down one entire side of the running game. In terms of Gurley, he gets the job done against anyone. So depending on how the defense plays, it will either be a good game or a great game for Gurley. He had 19 touchdowns in 2017, there is no shutting him down. Proceed with CautionQB Derek CarrI am really high on Derek Carr this season and it seems to me that the team is going to have to put up a lot of points to compete this season. And while I am close to moving Carr into the must start category, it is tough to do so when looking at the Rams’ defense that includes an inside presence of Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh along with Peters on the outside. Oakland’s offense line includes a rookie left tackle and an aging right tackle coming back from offseason foot surgery yet the unit will have to find a way to block Suh and Donald. If the run game doesn’t get clicking early, Carr might be rushed on a few throws or be thrown onto the dirt infield a little bit too much. WR Brandin Cooks History screams start Brandin Cooks. I still have nightmares thinking about him and what he has done to the Silver and Black recently. But part of me thinks his success has been due to poor discipline in the secondary from lack luster coaching. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see Cooks get loose and sprint down the sideline toward the end zone. But I wouldn’t be shocked either to see an excellent game plan that bottles Cooks up and makes sure he doesn’t get behind any safeties with possibly slower wheels (Reggie Nelson). BenchRB Marshawn LynchFor as highly as Oakland’s offensive line is touted, the unit has struggled to dominate running the football against elite defensive fronts. And there isn’t a more elite unit than one that has Donald and Suh. That duo could possibly stuff all the running gaps themselves without any other help from their teammates. Lynch might need a timely touchdown to post a solid fantasy week and that’s not a great bet to take. It is also a crowded running back room with the addition of Doug Martin and the speedy Jalen Richard.Raiders vs. Packers: 4 Winners, 4 Losers Greetings, Raider Nation! The game against the Packers is finally over Frostee Rucker Jersey , and it’s well past all of your bedtimes. The game started late and was made longer by the clock stopping on every play for a penalty flag. But now that the slog of a game is mercifully over, who was a hero and who was a zero?WINNERS1) Raiders defensive lineThe Raiders had five sacks tonight, and four of them were from defensive linemen. Fadol Brown led the way with 1.5 of them, and he was too much to handle all night long for the Packers’ offensive linemen. Maurice Hurst shared a half sack with Brown, and the other two were from Shilique Calhoun and Trayvon Hester. The Raider defensive line kept up the pressure for the entire game, allowing only 73 rushing yards and making the Packers QBs run for their life on a regular basis.Furthermore, when Arden Key was in the game he spooked the Green Bay tackles so much that he caused two false start penalties and got held another time. They wanted no part of Key.2) Chris Warren IIIWarren again led the Raiders with 15 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown. The Packers stacked the box to slow him down and still weren’t really able to. He ran with his usual combination of power and speed, bulldozing a Packer defender in the end zone Bosworth style. Warren has nothing left to prove.3) Amari CooperOn the one target Cooper had in this game, he adjusted to an underthrown deep ball from Derek Carr and avoided the tackle, rolling over the defender’s body to scamper for more yardage. Cooper looks in fine form Authentic Leon Hall Jersey , but it’s Carr who must improve his deep ball to make this connection even more special.4) Paul GuentherThe last time I think I’ve seen a Raider defense look this good was when Charles Woodson was playing on it- the first time. Did you see any Raider defender make a serious mistake tonight? Miss an assignment or make a boneheaded play? I didn’t. All the mistakes came from the referees.Paul Guenther has this team applying pressure and lockdown coverage with linebackers who fly to the ball and players who are where they are supposed to be when they are damn well supposed to be there. This is what good coaching looks like. Guenther is an absolute godsend.LOSERS1) Connor CookI would rather have a root canal than watch Cook play in a game ever again. I watched Colt McCoy earlier today look like a second-year political science student at Amherst trying to play quarterback against the Broncos and he outplayed Cook tonight. Connor Cook might have just played his way out of a job altogether. EJ Manuel wasn’t great, but he was a damn sight better than Cook.2) Pharaoh BrownMore holding penalties than catches for Brown in this preseason isn’t going to endear him to this perfectionist coaching staff. Brown’s penalties are drive-killers, and the right end spot is loaded as it is. Brown is an easy cut at this point.3) Doug MartinMartin ran behind the first-team offensive line and did basically nothing. Chris Warren ran behind the backups and looked like Bo Jackson at Auburn. I know the coaches love Martin and he’s basically a lock for the roster, but can they ignore the fact that Chris Warren is not only better, but like eight years younger?4) The Refs, againYou know the helmet rule is trash. I know the helmet rule is trash. Everyone knows the helmet rule is trash. That’s not in question here. What is a problem is phantom holding calls all the time and absurd roughness penalties. What would Bob Sanders do in today’s NFL? Dick “Night Train” Lane would be send to the nearest Soviet gulag if he played in this environment. The Packers and Raiders combined for 23 penalties and 210 penalty yards. The Packers had the worst of it, amassing 13 penalties for 110 yards, and that’s just the ones that were accepted. This situation is totally out of hand.Do you know what happens when you try to tackle heads up and someone is coming right at you? Your ass gets bent backwards. Ask Denzel Ward how he feels today. This nonsense has got to stop or we won’t be watching football in short order.

Another game Womens Andy Levitre Jersey , another loss. It’s becoming second nature at this point, unfortunately. Unlike the past two losses, however, the offense was shut down for the most part in this one, so not even fantasy players benefited as much.We have a lot of great content analyzing the game here at The Falcoholic, but in this article, we’ll look at things strictly from a fantasy football perspective. Let’s look at Atlanta’s top fantasy performer and biggest fantasy disappointment from Week 5’s defeat against the Pittsburgh Steelers.Fantasy Stud/Dud 2018 History:Past Studs: Matt Ryan (2), Julio Jones (1), Calvin Ridley (1)Past Duds: Devonta Freeman (1), Mohamed Sanu (1), Atlanta D/ST (1), Austin Hooper (1)Stud - Mohamed SanuStat Line - 4 catches, 73 receiving yards, 1 touchdown: 13.3 standard league points, 17.3 PPR pointsMohamed Sanu just keeps proving me wrong every week. For the third straight week, I suggested to sit Sanu in my weekly start/sit column Youth Brian Poole Jersey , and for the third straight week he put up starter worthy numbers in what should’ve been a poor situation for him. I solemnly swear not to put the “sit” by Sanu’s name this upcoming week.It was an overall very bad game for all of the usual big names on offense. Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley were each held to under 65 receiving yards, Matt Ryan threw one TD pass and failed to reach 300 yards passing while fumbling once and the run game was just shut down completely.Sanu accounted for the only receiving touchdown in this one — a 43-yard catch and run on the team’s second drive of the game — and he finished second on the team with 73 receiving yards. Since he was one of the only players not to lay an egg in Week 5, giving Sanu his first “stud” award was an easy decision.DudTevin Coleman: 7 carries, 15 rushing yards, 2 catches, 15 receiving yards: 3.0 standard league points, 5.0 PPR pointsBoth Freeman and Coleman were horrendous from a fantasy standpoint, in a game where both of them looked starter worthy coming into the week. Freeman gets somewhat of a benefit of the doubt in that this was his first game back from injury. He also recorded a few more yards from scrimmage than Coleman (41 to 30), so Teco gets the dishonor this week.Coleman got absolutely nothing going in this one, averaging a brutal 2.1 yards per carry. He’s been disappointing in every game since his explosion against the Panthers in Week 2, but he didn’t have the volume to establish a high fantasy floor this week.Ito Smith was the only Falcons’ RB to find the end zone, probably infuriating both Freeman and Coleman fantasy owners alike. It’s not like either of them deserved to score that garbage time TD when the game was already out of hand, however. Coleman has failed to take advantage of his opportunity with Freeman sidelined. Before their Sunday night matchup, the Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks wore shirts to honor the 12 people killed in the latest mass shooting at Borderline Bar in Thousand Oaks, California. The bar is located just an hour outside of the Staples Center, where the team plays. The Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks wore the same shirts on Saturday night for their game. The shirts had the names of all 12 victims on the back and the word “Enough” printed on the front. This will be the Lakers’ first political statement since LeBron James joined the team in July. James is well known for his activism since he and his Heat teammates wore hoodies after the death of Trayvon Martin Youth Takkarist McKinley Jersey , and he called for social change alongside Dwyane Wade, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony at the ESPYs, among other events.According to Lakers Nation’s Matthew Moreno, Walton said, “It breaks my heart to have to do this again, but our thoughts, our prayers, our love, is with those people suffering from that senseless shooting a couple days ago. It’s got to stop.“But it’s important that we always talk about it instead of just pushing it to the side. We love basketball, we’re here to play basketball, but there’s bigger things going on. Obviously, with the wildfires, too, hope that people’s homes are OK and that they’re going to be safe.”

Falcons wideout Julio Jones went sixth that year and Atlanta Falcons T-Shirt , assuming Lewis’ assertion holds up, Sunday’s game will be the first time they play in the same game at the NFL level as Green did not play in a 2014 game between the teams. It’s snowing in Philadelphia, which means the prophecy has begun.Loose translations from cave paintings in Bolivia denote just how terrifying this is. Anthropologists have debated their exact meaning in the few months since Gritty popped into existence, but from what we gather experts generally agree on the following reading: The words “endless” and “snow” have been debated Atlanta Falcons Hats , because ancient people used “10,000 years” to mean an eternity, and weirdly the term “snow” literally translated into “Zamboni dust,” which is a really weird thing to call snow.My God. At this point debating whether Gritty is amazing or terrifying is pointless. He’s arrived and will consume all we hold dear. I don’t know much about the Old Ones Atlanta Falcons Hoodie , but from what I’ve gathered it’s best to just force subservience in the hopes the almighty will grace us with a swift death, and not absorb our souls into his endless maw of destruction. The snow has fallen. This is the end. It’s been great knowing you all.

‘Monday Night Football’ Week 1 picks: Detroit Lions vs. New York Jets

The time for talk is nearly over. In just a few hours the Detroit Lions will open up their 2018 season Youth Ziggy Ansah Jersey , rendering all previous predictions and analysis obsolete. Are analysts right to be skeptical after a shaky preseason, or will the real Matt Patricia emerge Monday evening and regain the confidence of Detroit. But before we move onto the actual game, it’s time for the Pride Of Detroit staff to make one more set of predictions. This time, we’re simply picking the winner of the game and the score. Must like the expert picks this week, we’re in the Lions’ corner. In fact, of all 15 staff members, not a single person believes Sam Darnold and the Jets come out of Ford Field with a win. Here’s a look at our picks.Hamza Baccouche: 31-26 LionsKent Lee Platte: 24-13 LionsAlex Reno: 24-21 LionsJustin Simon: 24-16 LionsKyle Yost: 27-20 LionsJerry Mallory: 27-13 LionsMansur Shaheen: 59-32 LionsMike Payton: 35-17 LionsLevi Blue: 23-13 LionsKellie Rowe: 27-14 LionsJohn Whiticar: 24-17 LionsRyan Mathews: 35-28 LionsAndrew Kato: 20-10 LionsChris Perfett: 12-9 LionsJeremy Reisman: 27-24 LionsNow it’s time for you to make your picks. Vote in the poll below on what you think may happen Monday night, and be sure to drop your score prediction in the comment section here or in On Paper for a chance to be recognized as the Picker of the Week in next week’s preview article.2019 NFL Mock Drafts: Yep http://www.thelionsfootballauthentic.com/quandre-diggs-jersey-authentic , the Detroit Lions are picking 1st overall The start of the Matt Patricia era in Detroit has not been great with an embarrassing opening loss to the Jets and subsequent close defeat at the hands of the 49ers. The start was so bad, in fact, that many fans quickly checked out and started looking ahead to next year after Week 1. With 14 games left to play, there's plenty of time to turn it around but if the season ended today the Lions would have their pick of players with the first overall selection of the 2019 draft (based on strength of schedule tiebreakers). One site, The Draft Network, has already dove into who they may pick in that scenario.First overall pickNick Bosa, DE, Ohio StateFor what seems like the infinitieth season Womens LeGarrette Blount Jersey , the team is looking at problems with their defensive front entering the draft and Draft Network's Tre Sikkema wastes no time filling that need. This pick likely came down to Bosa or Houston's Ed Oliver, both considered the best defensive line prospects in a talented position group.Bosa has already picked up 4.0 sacks through three games to start this season, bringing his career total to 17.5. With 29.0 career tackles for a loss, Bosa has had no trouble disrupting the run as well, an area the Lions have struggled mightily with in their first few games. If his name sounds familiar, it's because his brother, Joey Bosa, also played for Ohio State and has gone onto have a strong start to his NFL career with the Chargers. Bosa was injured this past week with what is being called a lower abdominal strain Youth Frank Ragnow Jersey , and the outlook is uncertain. However, if there are no long-term injury concerns here, Bosa’s first-round draft status should remain unchanged. A pick like this one would obviously being into question the future of Ezekiel Ansah. It's quite possible that by the time the 2019 draft rolls around, the former fifth overall pick and Lions franchise player will have signed with another team. With injuries limiting his time on the field and production, it was risky of the Lions to tag Ansah, and he only lasted a few snaps before a shoulder injury saw him on the sideline for the team. If the emergence of Devon Kennard continues, Bosa would be the perfect pick to place outside. The Lions like to put some pressure on opposing quarterbacks and keep rushers from killing them off the edge. We've still got 14 games to play in the regular season, so plenty of things can change before the draft. Still Womens Graham Glasgow Jersey , if the team's struggles continue, they'll need an impact player on defense they can trust to put opponents on edge. If they start winning some games, Ed Oliver would be more than a good consolation prize as long as the team remains in the top 10. Otherwise, Detroit could be looking at one of the Clemson defenders(who are each good in their own right, but don't seem to fit Patricia and Pasqualoni's defense), or possibly one of the Michigan defenders if the team is picking late enough in the first round or decides to trade down.

Lions waive Anthony Zettel

sign DE Romeo Okwara http://www.thelionsfootballauthentic.com/sam-martin-jersey-authentic , The Detroit Lions waived defensive lineman Anthony Zettel and were awarded former New York Giants defensive end Romeo Okwara via waivers on Wednesday. The news was first reported by ESPN reporter Field Yates and later confirmed by the Lions organization. While the move is fairly straight forward—replacing one defensive lineman with another—the transaction comes after the 53-man roster cutdowns and many NFL observers had assumed that Zettel’s place on the Lions roster was secured, perhaps even as a starting option opposite Ezekiel Ansah.Instead, the Lions have decided to take their chances on the waiver wire, less than six days before their season opener against the New York Jets on “Monday Night Football.” Okwara, an undrafted lineman from Notre Dame, played for the Giants from 2016 until Tuesday, when he was released by the organization. He spent most of the 2017 season on the injured reserve, suffering from an issue with his knee. During this preseason, Okwara was productive for the Giants http://www.thelionsfootballauthentic.com/tavon-wilson-jersey-authentic , recording eight QB pressures—one sack, one hit, and six hurries according to Pro Football Focus’ Brett Whitefield.According to ESPN’s Michael Rothstein, Zettel, the sixth-round pick from the 2016 NFL Draft, was in the Lions locker room not an hour before he was waived. As if the Detroit Lions’ loss to the Chicago Bears wasn’t bad enough, the football gods literally added injury to insult. Late in the fourth quarter, the Lions suffered a few key injuries that just so happen to hit the Lions where they are the most vulnerable. The first was to Marvin Jones Jr., who limped off after a fourth quarter catch. The team announced he had a knee injury and was questionable to return. Not only did Jones not return Womens Kenny Golladay Jersey , but he was downgraded to OUT for the Lions’ final offensive drive of the game. To make matters worse, Kenny Golladay was clearly hobbled towards the end of the game. Golladay managed to finish out the final quarter, but don’t be surprised to see him pop up on the injury report next week.Sticking with the offense, Michael Roberts suffered a shoulder injury during a fourth-down reception. The Lions were already short-handed at tight end, as Luke Willson missed the game with a shoulder injury. That left just Levine Toilolo as the Lions’ sole healthy tight end for the final portion of the game. Lastly, Kerryon Johnson had to leave the game temporarily, as it appeared he reaggravated his ankle injury. Johnson was questionable this week, but he played through the pain and managed to come back and finish the game. By the end of the game, he looked pretty gimpy Youth Matthew Stafford Jersey , but that didn’t stop him from playing through it all.The Lions didn’t give any significant updates on the players after the game, and we likely won’t know more until the team practices on Wednesday, but for an offense struggling to find its stride, it’s not good news that literally all of their top offensive threats left Chicago beat up.Oh, and punter Sam Martin left Soldier Field in an ambulance. Let’s hope for the best for all of these individuals. The season may be all over for all intents and purposes, but no one wants to see players seriously hurt.

Remember back when the Detroit Lions had rushed for 249 yards against the Miami Dolphins

for their first decisive road win of the year? A couple days later Youth LeGarrette Blount Jersey , the Lions would trade for arguably the best run-stuffer in the entire NFL for just a fifth-round pick. The Lions were riding a two-game winning streak and sat just a game out of first place in an extremely competitive NFC North. Man, that must’ve been a good two months ago. No? That was just two weeks ago? Did I time travel? What year is this? Who’s president? Wait, don’t answer that last one. Yes, the sky was blue, the weather was warm, and the Lions were good. All of that is gone now. After two consecutive blowout losses and the trade of Golden Tate, Lions fans have pretty much lost all confidence in the team. Currently Lions fans are at a 20 percent confidence rate according to our weekly FanPulse survey, good for eighth lowest in the league. However, there’s one NFC North fanbase that’s feeling even worse in Week 10:[*extremely Nelson from The Simpsons voice*] Ha-ha! But while the Packers have been on a steady decline since the beginning of the season, Lions fans have been tormented by the ups and downs from this team. That peak of confidence from two weeks ago sat at 86 percent. Their 66 percentage point decline over just two weeks is by far the biggest drop of any fanbase over that timespan. The only teams that come close are the Ravens (-60%)—who have lost three straight—and the Jets (-44%).And while those two fanbases have certainly had it rough this year http://www.lionscheapstore.com/ricky-wagner-jersey-cheap , they haven’t had to deal with the week-to-week variance that Lions fans have been tortured with since Week 1. It’s not just the gameday results that are disorienting for fans. One week the team is making a move that appears to be a “win-now” trade. The next week they’re sending away the centerpiece of its offensive weaponry. One week, we’re reminded that general manager Bob Quinn has made some pretty good draft picks in Kerryon Johnson, Da’Shawn Hand and maybe even Michael Roberts and A’Shawn Robinson. The next week, Teez Tabor and Jarrad Davis remind us of his limitations as a personnel evaluator. It has never been easy for Lions fans, but this season feels particularly tortuous. The cheat sheet: Patriots’ offensive adjustments give defenses fits The main way to beat the Patriots is to not make it easy on them, especially on offense. Unfortunately for the Lions, they’ve made mediocre offenses look sensational through the first two weeks. The Lions defense is tied for last in the NFL in points allowed, yielding 39 a game. The current top defense in the NFL, which belongs to the Los Angeles Rams, is surrendering just 6.5 points per game http://www.lionscheapstore.com/t.j.-lang-jersey-cheap , and the NFL average defense is giving up about 22 points per game. Giving up nearly twice the NFL average in points per game just as Tom Brady and the Patriots roll into town is downright terrifying.“We certainly have things that we need to fix first and foremost, to make sure that those are taken care of before we play the Patriots,” Patricia said this week in his conference call with reporters. “That’s the biggest thing for us right now, that we just try to get the problems that we’ve had so far handled, so when we walk into the game, they’re still not an issue this weekend.”The Lions have a lot to clean up and must do it quickly. Despite missing key offensive and defensive players, the Patriots are not a team you can take lightly. What consistently impresses me (and frustrates opposing defenses) is how good the Patriots are at setting up certain offensive looks and making adjustments based on what the defense gives them. Here’s a look at how the Patriots did this last week against the Jaguars:They run plays, see how the defense reacts, and then adjust accordingly. If the Lions aren’t careful those adjustments will go for big plays on Sunday.Opponent snapshotThe Patriots haven’t exactly hit their stride yet this season. So far they barely eked out a Week 1 win over the Houston Texans after having an 18 point lead, and lost in a relative beatdown at the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2.So what team is going to show to Ford Field on Sunday?“We’re going to try as hard as we can to make up that ground as quickly as possible Youth Ricky Jean Francois Jersey ,” Belichick said at a press conference earlier this week. “It’s about where it usually is at this point in the season, just not at the point you like it to be at. It’s early, and there’s a long way to go. Hopefully, we can keep improving every day and every week.”Patriots’ biggest threat Tom BradyI don’t care how old he is. I don’t care how many quarrels he has with his head coach. I don’t even care how many Super Bowl rings he has. The only thing I care about Tom Brady is how effective he is on Sunday. Because, as I see it, he’s going to have to put this team on his back to stand a chance this season—even against the Lions.Brady is so smart and effective at taking advantage of what teams want to do on defense. The trick for the players is to not overthink the situation on the field. “With his level of expertise and his level to just understand defense, understand coverage, understand location, run-stick, I mean it’s the full package Youth Michael Roberts Jersey ,” Patricia said. “I think you’re also in a situation though where people go out and try to do too much or trying to over-disguise something, you put yourself in a bad situation, [and] he’s going to find that pretty quick.”Patriots’ weak linkRun defenseThe Patriots are 27th in the NFL in run yards allowed per game (135.5 per game). While the Patriots are traditionally a dominant team, run defense is not their strong suit. Typically, the Patriots are able to make up for poor run defense by playing with the lead. This forces team to throw the ball more often and abandon the run. The only way the Lions can exploit the Patriots’ lackluster run defense is to control the clock and successfully run a balanced offense. Bottom lineBill Belichick is 14-8 all-time against his former assistants. That stat isn’t shocking. We all know how Belichick assistants have fared as NFL head coaches. But it certainly isn’t comforting either. The Lions will need to play a near flawless game if they stand any chance of winning. There won’t be many secrets between these two teams so everything will come down to execution—which doesn’t bode too well for the Lions.PredictionPatriots 31 Lions 24

D.J. Reed has shot to claim 49ers starting free safety role

D.J. Reed has shot to claim 49ers starting free safety role The San Francisco 49ers have opened the door to a potential change at the free safety position. Head coach Kyle Shanahan would not make a firm commitment on the position Youth Adrian Colbert Jersey , but he left open the possibility of a change.Adrian Colbert suffered a hip injury in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He sat out Wednesday practice the next week, and then was listed as limited on Thursday and Friday. Limited usually means a player takes part in warmups and individual drills, but not team drills (although that is not always the case). This past Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, Colbert played exclusively on special teams, while D.J. Reed started at free safety. After the game Womens Mike McGlinchey Jersey , Shanahan offered this explanation as to D.J. Reed has shot to claim 49ers starting free safety rolewhy Reed started over Colbert.Shanahan said Colbert was the backup for Reed, and was physically ready to go. The coaching staff felt Colbert didn’t get enough reps this week to be fully prepared for the Chargers offense. On Monday, Shanahan left the door open for a change at some point. He was complimentary of Reed, saying he did a good job and was improved from the previous week. He said he thinks Reed will, “continue to get better with more reps.” Naturally this begged the question that followed in which Shanahan was asked if he anticipated Reed holding onto the starting job.The 49ers return to practice on Wednesday Womens Fred Warner Jersey , and we’ll get the first practice participation report later in the afternoon. If Colbert is listed as limited, that could mean a change is in the offing for at least another week. I would not expect Shanahan to announce a starter at this point, nor would defensive coordinator Robert Saleh likely say on Thursday. More than likely, barring something drastic, we’ll have to wait until Sunday for final word on who is starting at free safety. Today’s game quickly went from bad to worse for the 49ers.The Chiefs http://www.the49ersfootballauthentic.com/earl-mitchell-jersey-authentic , as they have all season, jumped out early and put on an outstanding offensive display, and the 49ers really couldn’t keep up. Kansas City won 38-27, and it was never close. But the huge story coming out of the game was that 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was injured late in the game on a run where he took a hard hit as he tried to fight for extra yardage rather than stepping out of bounds. The hit was clean and Garoppolo was foolish not to go out of bounds to avoid it.How costly will that foolish decision be? We don’t know that yet. But Garoppolo stayed down in obvious pain and had to be carted off. It looked like a potentially serious injury to the player the 49ers traded for last year and gave one of the biggest contracts in NFL history this year. The Chiefs are 3-0 and feeling great about their quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. The 49ers are 1-2 and crossing their fingers about their quarterback.

Indians starting first baseman Yonder Alonso will miss at least three games after being placed on the family-medical-emergency list.

Cleveland made the move Friday before opening a three-game series against Minnesota. The AL Central-leading Indians also activated center fielder Tyler Naquin from the disabled list. He had been sidelined with a hamstring injury since May 11.

Erik Gonzalez started the opener at first in place of Alonso Customized New York Giants Jerseys , who is in his first season with Cleveland.

By major league rules, Alonso will have to miss a minimum of three days and a maximum of seven.

Alonso is batting .248 with 11 homers and 37 RBIs in 65 games.

Naquin was hurt running the bases in Kansas City last month. He’s batting .333 (25 of 75) with two homers and 11 RBIs in 30 games. He recently appeared in six games on a rehab assignment at Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus.

Aaron Altherr got his first lucky break in a while.

Left fielder Marcell Ozuna dived for and missed Altherr’s two-run double with two outs in the 10th inning, allowing the Philadelphia Phillies to rally for a 6-5 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night.

Altherr had been hitless in his last 12 at-bats and 1 for 20 before the hit.

”The way things have been going, I thought he was going to catch it,” Altherr said. ”Thankfully he dove for it and it got by.”

Tommy Pham hit a solo homer in the top of the 10th, one inning after a wild pitch on a strikeout kept the game going. But the Phillies rallied.

Rhys Hoskins hit a bloop single to start the bottom of the 10th off Matt Bowman (0-2). Odubel Herrera dived headfirst into first to seemingly beat out an infield single, but the play was overturned by a video review. After Carlos Santana was intentionally walked Giants Cheap Jerseys , Bowman struck out Jesmuel Valentin.

Altherr then hit a sinking liner that appeared to skip off Ozuna’s glove before bouncing to the wall.

”It was so nice to see a ball bounce in his direction,” Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said of Altherr.

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny tried to explain the unusual strategy to put the winning run on base.

”Wanted to avoid their best hitter,” he said of Santana, who is batting .226.

On a day former closer Hector Neris was sent to the minors, Kapler’s aggressive use of the bullpen nearly cost him. Seranthony Dominguez – the team’s best reliever – wasn’t available after pitching 2 1/3 innings in the previous two games. So Kapler turned to Victor Arano and Adam Morgan in the ninth to protect a 4-2 lead. Neither pitcher has ever earned a save.

Yadier Molina hit a one-out single in the ninth off Arano, and Jedd Gyorko followed with a double. Arano struck out Harrison Bader and fanned Yairo Munoz, but Munoz reached when catcher Andrew Knapp failed to block the wild pitch and a run scored.

”I have to make that play. I have to block it Jets Cheap Jerseys ,” Knapp said.

Morgan came in and allowed a tying single to Kolten Wong.

Pham hit a deep drive off Jake Thompson (1-1) for his 11th homer.

Matt Carpenter and Molina also hit solo homers for St. Louis. Molina caught his 1,757th game with the Cardinals, passing the Cubs’ Gabby Hartnett for the most games caught with one team.

Herrera hit a three-run homer for Philadelphia.

The Phillies’ bullpen wasted a strong start from Nick Pivetta. He had a career-high 13 strikeouts, allowing two runs and four hits in 7 1/3 innings in his best outing since May 21. Pivetta lost his previous four starts, posting a 7.11 ERA in those games.

Pivetta left after Carpenter hit a double high off the fence in right to put runners at second and third. Right fielder Nick Williams exited with a bloody face after the ball hit him on the carom.

Edubray Ramos entered and struck out Pham and Jose Martinez swinging at sliders.

The Phillies have won six of eight games while the Cardinals have lost six of eight.

Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas gave up four runs and six hits in five innings.

EXTRA WORK

The Phillies are 5-1 in extra innings while the Cardinals are 5-6.

ROSTER MOVE

Neris was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, and lefty Austin Davis was recalled. Neris had a 6.00 ERA in 30 appearances, going 1-3 with 10 saves in 13 chances.

TRAINER’S ROOM

CARDINALS: 1B Martinez returned to the lineup after missing three games on paternity leave. 1B Luke Voit was optioned to Triple-A Memphis.

PHILLIES: RHP Jerad Eickhoff (right hand) is set to throw a bullpen session Tuesday. … Righty reliever Pat Neshek is scheduled to throw live batting practice Wednesday in the minors.

UP NEXT

RHP Luke Weaver (3-6 Raiders Cheap Jerseys , 4.52 ERA) starts for the Cardinals and RHP Vince Velasquez (5-7, 4.74) goes for the Phillies on Tuesday night.
It had to end sometime. The San Francisco 49ers were arrow up with

their offensive line performance. With Mike McGlinchey looking godlike at times during his rookie season and Weston Richburg falling into the role San Francisco 49ers Hats , the 49ers were climbing Pro Football Focus’ offensive line rankings. In Week 6 they made it up to sixth. Well, that gravy train is being discontinued. The 49ers offensive line has slipped back to 16th in the league in PFF’s latest rankings after Week 9. This has allowed other, more deserving teams like the Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts to get up to the top spot. Here’s what PFF had to say about the rankings: The 49ers have had some difficulty with keeping quarterback C.J. Beathard upright among other things. It’s important to note though that PFF pointed out they were taking into account all snaps through Week 9 by a team’s O-Line. So that right guard kerfuffle that’s been going on and Eric Magnuson as center are probably being considered and a part of the downgrade. The 49ers have some games left and they have Nick Mullens to maybe right the ship. The offensive line at 16 is not a horrible ranking, though. This was one of the worst in the league a couple years ago and it’s getting obvious attention with the drafting of McGlinchey (and jettisoning of Trent Brown). Hopefully they can get back and finish in the top-10.“Everyone has to step it up” - Kyle Juszczyk on moving forward from the loss of Jimmy Garoppolo The 49ers were dealt a serious blow with the loss of Jimmy Garoppolo to a season ending ACL tear. Kyle Juszczyk spoke about how the team must move forward and not dwell on the injury and give C.J. Beathard their full support: Juszczyk was also very complimentary of the coaching staff San Francisco 49ers Hoodie , who he believes are some of the best in the business at making adjustments. They already had to account for the loss of Jerick McKinnon, and now their work is cut out for them moving on from Garoppolo for the season. Fortunately Beathard already has a lot of time in Shanahan’s complex system and knows the playbook in and out. Of the 68 offensive snaps in Kansas City, Juszczyk was on the field for 53 of them. Alfred Morris was in for 23 snaps and Matt Breida was in for 29 leaving Juszczyk the lone back on the field for 16 plays. He caught two of his four targets for 38 yards, one of which was the longest reception of the day at 35 yards. As far as the offense’s overall performance facing the Chiefs Customized San Francisco 49ers Jerseys , Juszczyk believes that the slow start was due to the the team hurting themselves. Too many missed blocks and missedassignments led to not getting the first 1st down in a drive and causing them to sputter. Juszczyk was not surprised how the team pulled together and rallied back in the second half despite all of the injuries. He knew that’s what the team had in them saying “The first half is not us.” Of course the most frustrating part of the game for the offense, and Juszczyk himself, was the questionable offensive pass interference call on him in the end zone that negated George Kittle’s touchdown in the fourth quarter. Juszczyk did the politically correct thing, saying that there was nothing he could do about it at that point www.sanfrancisco49ersteamonline.com , but his pause, laugh and facial expression says it all. I think we all feel the same. It not only negated a touchdown, but also the chance for the 49ers to maybe pull the upset in a game where the losses weren’t only on the scoreboard.

It’s important to consider the opposing bullpen when selecting hitters in daily fantasy leagues Youth Geron Christian Jersey , both the quality of the team’s bullpen as a whole and the differences in quality between its individual pitchers.

The best bullpens in the league, like the Astros, have very little drop off in quality from their best relievers to their worst. That means whether a game is competitive or not, Houston’s opponents are facing high-end relief pitching. The Astros have five relievers with expected fielding independent pitching (xFIP) below 3.00, a measurement similar to ERA that strips away defense and some luck.

This isn’t the case with the bullpens in the middle of the league’s rankings. Some are top heavy while others are balanced. In daily fantasy baseball, top-heavy bullpens are the ones to take advantage of when they are large underdogs. The hope is that if your offense plays from ahead, you will avoid the elite relievers in a top-heavy bullpen. A balanced opposing bullpen won’t have as much of a difference in quality of reliever based on the game situation.

Take for example the Reds bullpen, which diminishes quickly. The Reds bullpen xFIP is 4.16 but when they play from ahead opponents will often see some combination of Amir Garrett (3.10 xFIP), Jared Hughes (3.41 xFIP), and Raisel Iglesias (3.30 xFIP). However, if they get behind the bottom of the bullpen contains Wandy Peralta (5.83 xFIP) and Michael Lorenzen (4.34 xFIP).

On the other hand, the Angels have a team bullpen xFIP of 4.15 but maintain a much more balanced bullpen. Their top six relievers all have xFIPs between 3.42 and 4.22. That makes it less important to identify game situations against the Angels.

Let that difference play to your advantage when top-heavy bullpens are underdogs – that improves your odds of facing the weakest relievers.

GOLF

TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm is this year’s host for the Quicken Loans Invitational, hosted by Tiger Woods. TPC Potomac also hosted the 2017 version of this event, while previous years it was held at the nearby Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. Because of the limited sample size, fantasy players shouldn’t put much weight in course history this week.

Last year, the Quicken Loans Invitational played as the fourth most difficult event on tour and played harder than the U.S. Open and Players Championship, so birdies will be hard to come by. When courses feature few birdies, the finishing position makes up more of the fantasy scoring and paying up for the tournament favorites can be a profitable strategy. Last year, strokes gained tee-to-green was the biggest differentiator between players as 22.5 percent of strokes were gained off the tee and 36.6 percent of strokes were gained on approach compared to tour baselines of 15 percent and 34.8 percent, respectively.

While Woods headlines the field for public rooting interest, Rickie Fowler is the class of the field with a 42 percent chance to finish inside of the top 10 this week. Fowler is ranked first in the field in strokes gained total, 10th in strokes gained tee-to-green and first in DraftKings scoring. On a week where capturing the top end of the leaderboard will prove critical, Fowler will anchor many winning DraftKings lineups.

In order to have the salary cap space to pay for Fowler, finding a cheap complementary player is required. Adam Hadwin is our favorite value selection this week on DraftKings and his $7 Youth Troy Apke Jersey ,300 price lets you comfortably roster Fowler. There are 40 golfers priced more expensive than Hadwin, whose 75 percent odds to make the cut are inside of the top 20 made cut probabilities. While Hadwin is ranked outside of the top 50 in strokes gained off the tee, he rates inside of the top 20 in strokes gained approach and 10th in total strokes gained over the last 50 rounds.

—

This column was provided to The Associated Press by DailyRoto, After a slow start, Giancarlo Stanton has been on a roll for the Yankees.

But he also said there’s another gear he can kick into, too.

Stanton hit a three-run homer, CC Sabathia pitched six effective innings, and the Yankees beat the Atlanta Braves 6-2 on Wednesday.

Rookie second baseman Gleyber Torres left the game in the top of the fifth inning because of tightness in his right hip and afterward was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right hip strain.

”We’re hoping it’s a short stint. But we think we’ve got to deal with it this time because there is a small strain there,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said outside the home clubhouse after the game.

”Hopefully it won’t be something that it’s too long. Probably take us up to the All-Star break.”

After struggling in his first two months of his debut season in the Bronx, including three games at the end of March, Stanton managed just 11 homers and hit .245.

He settled in and improved in June with eight homers and a .298 average.

”Yeah I can always get better. So yeah, I got to put it together but there’s some balls that I’ve hit hard that could have been in the air, been better,” said Stanton, who’s 6 for 18 (.333) with two home runs and five RBIs through the first four games of July.

”But that’s talking millimeters of (a) difference here. But in terms of in the box, I feel very close.”

Aaron Judge added his 24th homer of the season in the seventh inning. He’s now homered in three of his past four games.

Catcher Kyle Higashioka also homered for the Yankees, becoming the ninth player since 1920 whose first three hits were home runs. Colorado’s Trevor Story homered for his first four big league hits on April 4-6, 2016.

The 28-year-old, who’s spent most of his first 10 professional seasons in the minors, except for a nine-game hitless stint last season, was surprised at what he’s been able to accomplish since his promotion June 25.

”I wouldn’t have thought that my first three hits in the major leagues would be homers, but the most important thing here is winning,” Higashioka said.

Sabathia (6-3) followed his impressive showing last Friday against Boston, the team with the best record in baseball, working out of a couple of jams for the Yankees Customized Carolina Panthers Jerseys , who have won six of their past eight after getting swept in three games at Tampa.

National League East-leading Atlanta loaded the bases with two outs in the first, but the 37-year-old struck out 20-year-old phenom Ronald Acuna Jr. on an 88 mph cutter.

”That’s a good lineup. They have a very good team, some good hitters,” Sabathia said. ”Even when I felt I was in control I still had to make pitches. They made me work today.”

The Braves have lost their past two games.

New York took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on Greg Bird’s RBI single off Atlanta starter Julio Teheran (6-6), who lasted just five innings, allowing five hits and five runs. He walked four and struck out 10.

The Yankees got to Teheran again in the third.

With a runner on first and two outs, Aaron Hicks walked. Stanton then fell behind 0-2 before hitting a line drive to the right field bleachers for his 21st homer of the season to make it 4-0.

After retiring the first two batters in the fourth, Teheran fell behind 2-0 against Higashioka before the rookie connected to the left field stands, extending the lead to 5-0.

”You can’t make mistakes to this team,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said. ”The way that ball flies around in right center and over, it’s just dangerous. That’s why they are who they are. In spurts, he threw the ball really well.”

The Braves cut the deficit to 5-1 on an RBI grounder from Danny Santana with one out in the fifth. Johan Camargo hit his ninth home run of the season with two outs in the sixth that made it 5-2. But Sabathia limited the damage by retiring Dansby Swanson on a grounder to second with a runner aboard.

Atlanta failed to take advantage in the seventh inning against reliever Chad Green when its first two batters reached on a pair of singles. Green then got three fly outs to end the threat.

PUT ME IN COACH

With New York set to play 11 games in 10 days, beginning Friday at Toronto, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said he wanted to be ”greedy” with Thursday being their only day off, and held Austin Romine out of the starting lineup for the fourth consecutive day. Higashioka started for the fourth straight time behind the plate.

The Yankees have been short-handed at catcher since Romine left the game on June 29 against Boston in the seventh inning because of a tight left hamstring. Gary Sanchez has been on the 10-day disabled list since June 25 because of a strained right groin.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Braves: 1B Freddie Freeman, who was hit by a pitch in the third inning, left the game after the fourth because of a contusion in his right upper arm. He expects to be back in the lineup Thursday in Milwaukee.

”I tried to go down in the cage and swing and pretty much topped the ball off the tee,” Freeman said. ”I couldn’t really extend the arm going through the zone. I had no strength. It just kind of swelled up and it looks like a baseball on my tricep right now.”

WELCOME BACK

LHP Luiz Gohara, the No. 3 prospect in the Atlanta organization, arrived about 90 minutes before the first pitch after he was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett for the second time this season. I don’t doubt for a second that was an oversight. An oversight by someone else to not notice that somehow Kaepernick was omitted from photographs. While the 49ers organization is supportive of Kaepernick, that doesn’t have to mean everyone within it is. So one has to wonder if this was an oversight or something calculated by some knucklehead in the building. The good thing is, the 49ers owned up to it and quickly adjusted things once they were called on it. There’s no way they said, “Hey, let’s omit Kaepernick and if no one notices, great, if they do, we’ll put him in there.” They had to know the consequences of that. They also didn’t make an executive decision to omit Kaepernick and ignore any pleas. They had to know how that was going to go. At the same time, how does someone getting these photographs together just ‘forget’ Kaepernick?Especially after Kap destroyed a team hated by many 49ers fans in the playoffs. Twice. The 49ers didn’t want this to happen, but I wonder if someone within did. Colin Kaepernick scored first in his legal showdown with the NFL.In the end, there aren't likely to be any real winners.Kaepernick's collusion case against the league that doesn't have a place for him took a big step forward when an arbitrator turned back the NFL's request for a summary judgment — in essence, ruling that there was at least enough evidence to proceed to a full-blown, binding arbitration hearing for the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback. The longer this whole mess drags on Womens Jimmy Garoppolo Jersey , the worse it is for a league that has already taken quite a public-relations battering over its players taking a knee during the national anthem to protest social injustice. Then again, it's hard to see an outcome where Kaepernick gets what he really wants: a chance to play again in the NFL.His playing career, in all likelihood, is over."This is good news for Kaepernick that it goes forward, but my feeling all along has not changed: This is uphill climb for him," said Andrew Brandt, executive director of the Moorad Center for the Study of Sports Law at Villanova University."To prove collusion is more than just teams deciding for whatever reason that they prefer other quarterbacks to Colin Kaepernick. That's not collusion," Brandt went on. "Collusion is two or more teams — backed up with evidence — deciding not to sign Colin Kaepernick. Colluding is two or more NFL entities colluding against signing him."While it seems abundantly clear that the NFL has blackballed Kaepernick, as well as his former teammate Eric Reid (who also has a collusion grievance against the league), actually proving this is a coordinated effort is a whole different matter."This has been going on for quite a while and we've not seen any smoking guns, at least not publicly," Brandt said Friday in a telephone interview. "In our 24-hour media, with so much focus on this, I would think if there's a smoking gun, we would've seen it by now."Even if one emerges and Kaepernick claims an overwhelming legal victory, he'll have to settle for being a very rich but still very much unemployed former NFL quarterback.Arbitrator Stephen Burbank can award tens of millions of dollars in damages. He can't order a team to give Kaepernick a job. That said http://www.the49ersfootballauthentic.com/marquise-goodwin-jersey-authentic , the NFL can't seem to break free of a divisive issue that could have far-reaching implications down the road, especially when the collective-bargaining agreement expires after the 2020 season. An already testy relationship with the players — some of whom have carried on Kaepernick's cause by kneeling or raising a fist during the national anthem — only figures to get worse.Heck, the league already had to back off the supposed national anthem policy it adopted in late May, which would've allowed players to stay in the locker room as a form of absent protest but required them to stand if they came on the field."This is really a lose-lose situation for the league," said Jodi Balsam, who worked in the NFL's legal office from 1994-2007 and now teaches sports law at Brooklyn Law School and New York University. "Obviously if the NFL loses, they have a lot at stake. But even if they win on the merits — and, by the way, all the odds-makers say they will win on the merits — it's still a loss. They will have had to litigate this with all the distractions and expense. That means Colin Kaepernick is still on the public stage for another few months as the hearing plays out."Now that the case is moving forward, it could be ripe for a settlement. The minute Burbank turned them down, the NFL's lawyers were surely advising their billionaire clients that it might be a good time to write out a big fat check to Kaepernick as part of a confidential settlement that makes this whole thing go away."This is a leverage point in the arbitration," said Andrew Stoltmann, a Chicago-based arbitration attorney who has handled more than 1,000 claims. "Reason would seem to dictate that if there's going to be a settlement, it's going to happen now, after this arbitrator's decision Womens DeForest Buckner Jersey , or a couple of weeks before the hearing begins."But even if the league wants to settle, there's no indication that Kaepernick is willing to back down. By all indications, he sees this as a higher calling, a chance to carry through on something far more significant than one man's professional and financial future. He showed how much it all means to him by donating $1 million to various social causes even though he didn't have a job."It's extremely dangerous for the NFL that you might have a plaintiff in Kaepernick who doesn't really care about the money, but rather wants to embarrass the NFL," Stoltmann said. "But think about it: If you're an unemployed former athlete and someone dangles a $50 million check in front of you, or a $75 million check, that's extraordinarily hard for any person to reject."Even if a financial settlement is reached, the NFL will make sure that there's no admission that it worked in unison to keep Kaepernick out of the league. The owners have no intention of giving up their ultimate power over the players: the right to sign — and not sign — whoever they want."There's another principle at stake here, the principle that you have significant discretion as an NFL owner and coach to construct a squad that's not just based on talent but on character and camaraderie and a community to win," Balsam said."Are they entitled to make decisions about roster spots and playing time based on players being team players and conducting themselves in the public image that the owners want to project? Absolutely. Are they allowed to say Colin Kaepernick is not right for our team because he's a disruptive presence and we don't want him on our team? They absolutely have that right."So, on we go.Toward an ending with only one likely outcome.Everyone loses.Paul Newberry is a sports columnist for The Associated Press.
