Houston’s fifth-straight win included the loss of receiver Will Fuller for the year with a torn ACL. Coach Bill O’Brien was asked by reporters on Friday whether the team will look internally or externally to replace Fuller Womens Martinas Rankin Jersey , a first-round pick in 2016. 鈥淚 think it鈥檚 both,” O’Brien said. “I know there are guys in the locker room that can do certain things. Obviously, if they could do them like Will, they would鈥檝e been out there like Will, but there are definitely guys that can do some things. We鈥檝e got a lot of good players in that locker room. Then, we鈥檙e always — G.M. Brian [Gaine] and his crew — we鈥檙e always trying to do what we think is best for the team.鈥漁ne of the internal candidates is Keke Coutee, who has been hampered by injury.“We鈥檒l see where he鈥檚 at http://www.thetexanslockerroom.com/authentic-jon-weeks-jersey ,” O’Brien said of Coutee. “He鈥檚 a guy that had been playing well for us and hopefully he can come back at some point.鈥滳outee’s versatility provides a bonus for the Texans; O’Brien said he can line up on the outside, on the inside, and in the backfield.“A little bit different than Will, no doubt about it,” O’Brien said. “Every guy鈥檚 different but he does a lot of different things.鈥滱nd it’s different guys who will add those different things to replace Fuller, including (per O’Brien) Sammie Coats, Vyncint Smith Womens Jordan Akins Jersey , the team’s tight ends, and the Houston running backs.“That鈥檚 kind of what I was saying,” O’Brien said. “There鈥檚 a lot of guys in that locker room that can help fill the void.”There also are players not on the team who could help fill the void. If a trade will happen (the Texans saw last night what DeVante Parker can do), it needs to happen by Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET. Available free agents include Dez Bryant and Jeremy Maclin. Ugliness. The last quarter of yesterday’s game was pure ugliness.Considering the last time the Texans won was almost an entire calendar year ago, I will say the team and this fan base will take it any way we can get it. An 0-3 start after months of waiting in anticipation for a revitalized Houston Texans truly tested Texans fans at their core. This fourth game, the third of which has been on the road, became a breaking point for a coaching staff Justin Reid Jersey , fan base, and locker room. Too early to tank and too late to make a playoff push, thorough discontent had set in. But this Texans team and franchise, like the city it calls home, is resilient. I would rather lick the streets of a New York City subway station than be 0-4.

The Green Bay Packers beat the Buffalo Bills badly on Sunday Womens J'Mon Moore Jersey , but no one was happy with the offense and with good reason. Six of those 22 points came on long field goals, and McCarthy seemed to settle for another long field goal attempt on the first drive, though Jamaal Williams was unable to gain sufficient yardage on a third-down play to try it.McCarthy settles a lot, and that’s becoming big problem because it costs the team possessions. There are two major philosophies about picking up first downs. The first, older philosophy captures the NFL standard for most of the 1980s and 90s, which holds that first and second downs are to be used to make 3rd down easier.A few four-yards runs on the early downs will give the team flexibility to either run or pass on 3rd and short, making for an easy conversion. The new philosophy holds that offenses are now so good (and defenses so restrained) that it’s more efficient to give yourself as many opportunities as possible to gain ten yards on an individual passing play, and that the vast majority of the time, any quarterback will complete a 10-yard pass before they are forced to punt. While you do need to run sometimes, just to prove that you might http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-jk-scott-jersey , the latter philosophy is far closer to optimal. We know that, on first down, a successful play must pick up at least 4 yards, and in reality that number is probably closer to 5. Your subsequent 2nd and 3rd down plays are really only successful if they pick up the first down, which means that if your first down play fails and leaves you with six yards to go or more, running is almost always a bad idea because runs don’t generally pick up big yardage. Smart teams know this. For instance, let’s look at the Rams, who are currently the cream of the crop in terms of football smarts. On 2nd or 3rd down, with 6 yards or more to go, and when the game is within one score Kevin King Jersey , the Rams have passed 87% of the time. They have only run in this situation four times all season. It’s just not something they do. In the aggregate, their plays have been successful 52% of the time, while their passing plays have been successful 60% of the time. The Packers, on the other hand, still strive for balance in these scenarios. They have passed only 68% of the time and run 32% of the time. Those runs have only succeeded 1/3 of the time, and overall in these situations, the Packers only succeed 38% of the time. We tend to focus on 3rd down efficiency, but the Packers are basically pissing away plays and drives every time they do this. Despite the fact that the Packers have an all-time great quarterback, only seven teams pass less than the Packers in this situation, which is insane. On their first drive against the Bills Marquez Valdes-Scantling Jersey White , the Packers faced 2nd and 10 from the Buffalo 40-yard line. Either McCarthy or Rodgers called a run to Jamaal Williams, the worst Packer runner, that lost a yard. Incredibly, on 3rd and 11, they went back to the same well, and Williams was stoned for no gain. Even if Williams hadn’t been completely stuffed, the best case scenario for those play calls was a slightly shorter but still long field goal attempt, which is hardly an ideal outcome. It is these pointless plays and drives that seems designed specifically to not score, which cause the offense such problems. The Packers then did this again in the 3rd quarter when up 19-0. The team faced 3rd and 10 and called a run to Ty Montgomery, which was stuffed for a loss of one. The Packers were forced to punt from their own 18 Womens Corey Linsley Jersey , and the defense was fortunate to preserve the shutout. The fact of the matter is that smart teams don’t operate this way. They pass more frequently and with more success when a first down is still in doubt. The actual plays that were called against the Bills were not half bad, and the second drive of the game — which resulted in a touchdown — was a thing of beauty. But the problems with the offense are deeper than individual play design. They show a fundamental lack of football understanding. McCarthy’s focus on execution has always been about the trees, but much of the rest of the NFL now runs a hyper-efficient forest, and Mike just doesn’t see it. After missing out on the Green Bay Packers’ head coaching job, it appears that Todd Monken is still interested in working for the organization. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator interviewed with the team over the weekend, but missed out on the position when the Packers picked Matt LaFleur instead. Now, there’s a chance that Green Bay could land both of the offensive minds who were reportedly at the top of their board following the first set of head coaching interviews. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Monken will interview for the Packers’ offensive coordinator position in the coming days. However, he also reportedly has a few other interviews lined up with other teams for the same job, as the Lions and Browns are both on his itinerary.Monken’s experience and success leading an offense would be an excellent addition to the LaFleur’s staff. He called plays for 15 of the the Buccaneers’ 16 games in 2018 http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-marcedes-lewis-jersey , leading them to a ninth-place finish in passing DVOA and a third-place rank in total yards. However, he did not call plays during his first two years in Tampa, as head coach Dirk Koetter held those duties; therefore, he would not necessarily be taking a significant step back by taking a non-playcalling coordinator position under LaFleur in Green Bay. In addition, his experience as a college head coach (at Southern Mississippi) could keep him in serious consideration for head coaching jobs in future years.APC’s Paul Noonan expanded on Monken’s offensive philosophy recently. It seems logical that his approach and focus on explosive plays would mesh well with LaFleur, who also values picking up chunks of yardage at once. In addition, Monken would likely bring some Air Coryell and Air Raid influences to the table, which could further diversify the Shanahan-style West Coast system that LaFleur will implement. If the Packers manage to hire Monken, fans — and quarterback Aaron Rodgers — should rejoice. His presence would give the team a coordinator with a proven track record of success in leading an NFL offense and would put Rodgers on a trajectory towards a bounce-back season in 2019.

But we did learn one way in which the schedule-makers helped the Lions and hurt the Patriots. That is in rest days, where the Lions will have an NFL-best 12 more rest days than their opponents over the course of the season, while the Patriots will have an NFL-worst 13 fewer rest days than their opponents, according to Brian Burke of ESPN.鈥廡hat’s primarily because the Lions never play an opponent coming off a bye, while the Patriots play three games against opponents coming off their byes. The Lions also benefit from extra rest before playing at Minnesota, after their annual Thanksgiving home game.Other teams that got favorable schedules from a rest perspective include the Chargers, Buccaneers, Panthers and Bills. Teams that got unfavorable schedules include the Dolphins, Eagles Will Harris Jersey Womens , Packers and 49ers. This is a case of mistaken identity. Josh Allen, the quarterback out of the University of Wyoming drafted by the Buffalo Bills, is not the focus of this article. Instead, I believe that Josh Allen, the Kentucky linebacker and edge rusher Matthew Stafford Jersey , is the ideal pick for the Detroit Lions in 2019.During the 2018 offseason, the Lions signed Devon Kennard to a three-year, $17.25 million contract to be their passing-rushing linebacker in their newly implemented 3-4 defense. On paper, this seems like a good signing: Kennard posted 7.0 sacks, good for second on the team. However, much like Romeo Okwara and his 8.0 sacks, this stat is not a good indicator of his performance last season. Specifically, he failed to deliver a consistent pass rush. Kennard had a PFF pass rushing grade of just 50.0. Despite his 425 snaps as a pass rusher, he recorded only 22 hurries. For comparison Darius Slay Jersey , rookie Da’Shawn Hand, an interior lineman, had 22 hurries on 263 pass rushing snaps. Additionally, the Lions needed Kennard to drop into coverage on occasion, and he wasn’t very effective, allowing a passer rating of 130.6 when targeted.Enter Josh Allen.Alex Reno did a profile on Josh Allen back in December, and his draft stock has skyrocketed since then. As a result, we could see a Josh Allen selected in the top 10 for the second consecutive year.Unlike the current Bills quarterback, the Kentucky linebacker is well deserving of his ranking Marvin Jones Jersey , and it starts with his athleticism:Josh Allen boasts an elite athletic profile at both linebacker and defensive end, coming in with an excellent combination of size and speed. As a pass rusher, Allen’s speed makes him a serious threat on the outside. As a linebacker, he has the ability to excel in coverage. The Lions have had issues with covering tight ends specifically in recent years, and Allen could develop into a legitimate counter to them, with the height and speed to keep up with the Travis Kelce’s and George Kittle’s of the league. As Reno notes, his pass rushing moves could use some grooming, and he could expand his arsenal as well. Nonetheless, there’s a lot of potential with Allen. The biggest hurdle preventing Allen from becoming a Detroit Lion is actually his talent. At this point Kerryon Johnson Jersey , it would be a surprise if he falls to the eighth overall pick. San Francisco, both New York teams, Oakland, and Tampa Bay are all candidates to select Allen before the Lions. The Lions have been discussed as a team that could trade down on draft day, and Allen being unavailable could instigate this move. If Allen is available when the Lions are on the clock, they should rush to the podium.

Thursday night football is here to stay Andrew Billings Jersey White , even if it’s gone for the rest of 2018.In past years, some — make that many — would have said “good riddance.” That would be misguided this year.First off, Fox’s presentation generally was strong and on target. Indeed, Troy Aikman, who has been Fox’s lead analyst for 17 years, might have had his best season.Seemingly energized by having a true national game, in prime time with no competition, Aikman not only was spot-on with his analyses, he was more than willing to criticize play calling, performance and officiating.Presenting your convictions and then sticking to them is a must for a top analyst, and Aikman came through for viewers the way he did as a three-time Super Bowl champion quarterback for Dallas.“I think after 17 years of doing it somewhat the same way, this was an opportunity to kind of change up my schedule,” says Aikman, who at first had some reservations about balancing his family and business responsibilities.“I think that is fair to say ‘energized.’ It felt more like an event, being the only game, and in prime time. On Sunday afternoon, especially for the late game, it sure seems like that’s when most people prefer to view football. But the prime time has a little bigger of a feel to it.“We did not feel as restricted to the action on the field; we never feel completely restricted. It certainly freed me up and allowed me to have even more fun within the broadcast.”Fox also wound up with some very solid matchups with intriguing storylines. Yes, NBC had the season opener, a Thursday nighter hosted by the champion Eagles in a rematch of a January playoff game with the Falcons. That wound up 18-12, eerily similar to Philadelphia’s previous win over Atlanta. It also, of course, didn’t have two teams coming off short weeks. Then, Fox prospered with three of the better games of the entire season, games that wouldn’t have had the same cachet later in the schedule.Cincinnati’s 34-23 victory over Baltimore — look at where those two teams reside now! — was entertaining, with Andy Dalton torching the Ravens with four touchdown passes. It also had the added spice of the Bengals having knocked the Ravens out of playoff contention in the 2017 finale.A week later — and this was Aikman at his best Jeff Driskel Jersey White , even if Jets fans swear play-by-play voice Joe Buck was outwardly rooting for the hosts — the Browns finally got a win, with Baker Mayfield stamping himself as an emerging force in just the third game of his rookie year.“There were so much expectations with Baker Mayfield in that city. The team had not won a lot of games, and the fans were expecting the team would start to win games, so there was this optimism around the city,” Aikman recalls.“Having been there for the preseason and then we go back in the regular season, you could just feel this energy building and it was a fan base that just wanted to celebrate. And then Baker comes off the bench to lead them to that victory. It was huge and fun to be a part of.”Jets-Cleveland was followed by the Rams‘ 38-31 shootout victory against the Vikings, when Jared Goff and Kirk Cousins combined for eight TD throws and 887 yards through the air.For those enamored of the video-game fireworks, well, that was nirvana. There was plenty of offense all year, even with only three full days between games. Oddly, the only Thursday nighter with teams coming off a previous Thursday contest, Saints at Cowboys the week after Thanksgiving, had the fewest points, 13-10 for the Cowboys. That also was a mesmerizing drama in which Dallas’ defense stamped itself as capable of carrying a contender, shutting down Drew Brees and the ultra-prolific Saints. It also might have featured Aikman and Buck’s best work.“I have become comfortable with where I am at within my job, so to speak,” Aikman says. “I always have been comfortable with my opinions and how I feel about the play on the field, and how it should be done and how teams should go about playing the game.“There have been a lot of league issues and things happening as it relates to our game. I am not trying to grandstand or get on a soap box; that’s not my nature. I think I have to be honest in how I feel, and I feel strongly enough in my beliefs to feel I am speaking for the majority of the people viewing.”There was a string of nine Thursday nighters, including New Orleans’ 31-17 victory over Atlanta on Thanksgiving night on NBC, in which it took at least 27 points to win. The Steelers went for 52 against Carolina, Denver scored 45 vs. Arizona, and Houston got 42 on Miami. So complaints about not enough rest between games mostly would come from defensive players — the same folks who have protested, often with validity, about how the rules are stacked against them. Two teams never made it to the Thursday night spotlight, Tampa Bay and Buffalo. Nobody missed them.Three others had Thursday outings Womens John Ross Jersey , but on Thanksgiving afternoon, when Chicago visited Detroit and Washington was at Dallas. The Eagles, Cowboys, Saints and Falcons all had two Thursday appearances. Aikman and Buck had 14 such games, including Redskins-Cowboys in the late-afternoon Thanksgiving spot. They doubled up Thursday/Sunday assignments seven times. The longtime partnership Aikman and Buck share made the extra duties much easier to handle.“Joe is unbelievable, such a ridiculous talent,” Aikman says. “Joe is as gifted at his craft as anyone I played with. It’s a real marvel how smooth he is and what he sees.“It’s like being married, when you’ve been around someone for so long you know their habits and patterns, and I know where Joe wants to go right from the start, how he wants to set the tone.”Overall, ratings for the 13-game Thursday night package on Fox, with its simulcast on NFL Network, were up 2 percent over the 2017 season split between CBS and NBC. The average was 14,304,000 viewers, with Chargers-Chiefs in the last of the midweek games shattering the competition at 17.4 million on Fox/NFLN. That also was a 29-28 outcome in which LA scored a TD and 2-point conversion to win at the very end.NFL games on Thursday nights are a money maker, so much so that the World Series in October hasn’t had a scheduled game that night since 2013. Of course, Fox now has the rights to both, and has no plans to create such a conflict.Wait, how about the World Series leading into Thursday night football? Notable long-time veterans Michael Johnson, Vincent Rey and Andre Smith seem to have given their final farewells to Cincinnati, but it’s clear that Zac Taylor’s staff plan is to see what use they have for the roster that Marvin Lewis left behind. The later Lewis years made predicting the final roster relatively easy Clark Harris Jersey White , and obvious attachment to veterans and young players alike that fit his “type” sometimes prohibited the team from being as good as it could’ve been. But with any coach, you take the bad with the good. Those years are behind us, and what we think represents a roster lock in Cincinnati may not apply anymore. Still several weeks away from training camp, let us examine who on the Bengals’ roster should be considered locks to remain on it by the time the regular season comes around.Quarterbacks (2): Andy Dalton, Ryan Finley It would take a miraculous training camp and preseason for Jeff Driskel to keep his role as Dalton’s backup over Finley, whom the Bengals traded up for to be just that. Driskel could stay on as the team’s third quarterback, but it’s more likely that he’ll be cut.Running backs (3): Joe Mixon, Giovani Bernard, Trayveon WilliamsAdding Rodney Anderson is tempting here, but for the sake of keeping the final number as low as possible, we’re leaving him out. Anderson could be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list and he could be 100% ready for the season. Both are equally possible.Wide receivers (4): A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd, John Ross, Alex EricksonErickson’s contract doesn’t make him untouchable, but there is noise regarding the new regime’s confidence in his ability. He’s the only one outside of last year’s starters that should be considered safe. Tight ends (3): C.J. Uzomah, Tyler Eifert, Drew SampleThere’s a future where the Bengals don’t have Eifert because of another devastating injury, but we’re going to assume the best when it comes to health. These three will be the core of the position, with Eifert acting more as a receiver than a blocker.Offensive tackles (2): Jonah Williams, Bobby HartBefore Cordy Glenn was officially moved inside to left guard, Hart could’ve been listed as the starting right tackle or the backup tackle. Now he appears to be the former. The question is, who will be Williams and Hart’s backup? Interior offensive linemen (4): Cordy Glenn, Billy Price, John Miller, Michael JordanClint Boling’s fate has all but been sealed with Glenn taking over the spot he manned for the last seven seasons. Christian Westerman (or even Alex Redmond!) can snag the sixth spot, if they keep that many C.J. Uzomah Jersey White , but Jordan will surely have priority. Jordan also has experience at center, which could make Trey Hopkins expendable in their eyes.Edge defenders (3): Carlos Dunlap, Sam Hubbard, Carl LawsonIt’s a safe bet that both Jordan Willis and Kerry Wynn will make it through final cuts, but Wynn’s one-year deal doesn’t mean much in terms of security. They could also go with just four if they decide to keep five interior players. Willis and Wynn would presumably be battling for that fourth spot. Interior defensive linemen (4): Geno Atkins, Andrew Billings, Ryan Glasgow, Renell WrenThese four might be the four to make up the position group, as there won’t be much competition below them on the depth chart.Linebackers (3): Nick Vigil, Preston Brown, Germaine PrattMalik Jefferson (and Deshaun Davis as well) can most definitely be argued here, but like with Anderson, he was kept off for the sake of keeping the final number low. The only thing we can be somewhat certain about is that these three will be the starters in their base defense, with one of them coming off the field when they deploy their nickel defense for most of the game.Cornerbacks (4): William Jackson, Dre Kirkpatrick, Darqueze Dennard, B.W. WebbIt was tempting to leave Kirkpatrick and Dennard out of here, but it’s *far* more likely they will be kept on than they won’t. Webb was signed in the event that Dennard would leave, but now both will be key contributors in the Bengals’ secondary. Safeties (3): Jessie Bates, Shawn Williams, Clayton FejedelemTwo starters and the new special teams captain. Brandon Wilson’s value on special teams will help him in his attempt to keep his spot, but Trayvon Henderson could very well push him for it.Specialists (3): Clark Harris, Kevin Huber, Randy BullockSecond-year kicker Tristan Vizcaino isn’t likely to be much competition for Bullock.Total locks: 37

CDTShareTweetShareShare2019 NFL Draft: Houston Texans’ First Round Nightmare Scenario Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY SportsOh, the NFL Draft, a three day extravaganza of predicting, projecting, and praying that months of studying will pay off. Some teams have more to desperately pray for than others, but fortunately for Texans’ fans Christian Covington Jersey White , the anticipation does not have to wait until the third round begins this year. With the 23rd pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, there should be plenty of talent available for the Texans to select. However, the first tier of offensive line and cornerback talent may be off the board by the time the Texans go on the clock. If so, the Texans may be scrambling to find comparable talent with a first round pick at corner or offensive tackle. This is how it could happen, and what Houston should do if it does.Part One: A Run on Offensive LinemenTo compensate for the best defensive line draft in recent memory, teams respond with a mid-first round run on offensive linemen. If you’ve studied the myriad of mock drafts posted on a daily basis, you’ve seen this scenario outlined below. Everyone and their mother is projecting the Jags take Taylor with the seventh overall pick to replace Jeremy Parnell. Taylor is the most NFL-ready right tackle in this draft class. The Packers have other needs, but as Aaron Rodgers’ health goes, so do the Packers; Williams would pair nicely with David Bakhtiari to protect Rodgers’ blind side. I could also see the Pack taking Cody Ford and moving him to guard. The Panthers have holes all over the offensive line and Dillard would shore up the left side of the line. Although I doubt Dillard makes it all the way to 16, he likely won’t get past the Panthers if he does slide a tad. The Vikings have an equally miserable offensive line as the Texans and would subsequently pick the best lineman available in this scenario. Ford is my ideal Texans draft pick, though Weston surely disagrees. Like that kid on the playground that follows the bully and gets the last kick in Shane Lechler Jersey White , the Chargers leap the Texans in this scenario to nab Little as their future left tackle. Little may not be a plug-and-play first-round talent right now, but he has an elite ceiling if he succeeds. Part Two: The Three CBs Are Swept UpIf you are a consumer of all things irrelevant (a/k/a mock drafts and flat earth theories), you’ve seen the former usually presents only three corner backs drafted in the first round. Deandre Baker, Greedy Williams, and Byron Murphy are three talented corners with vastly different skill sets, and their draft selections will be more dependent on each team’s scheme rather than their rank of talent. This is not the most elite cornerback class, but need takes precedent in the middle of the draft. The Redskins, Giants, and Titans steal the best talent right out of the Texans’ grasp. Deandre Baker is a stud corner who will dive right into the Redskins’ revolving door secondary. They will make up for his speed concerns with their base-nickel package and with newly acquired Landon Collins. Byron Murphy would excel for the Giants as a zone coverage corner on the other side of Janoris Jenkins, and Greedy Williams makes a ton of sense for Tennessee since they face Deshaun Watson, Andrew Luck and now Nick Foles twice a season. Greedy can run with T.Y. Hilton and is physical enough to battle DeAndre Hopkins Now that the dead are at the gates of Winterfell and all the talent in the land at positions of need have been taken Braxton Miller Jersey White , what do the Texans do at 23? The first thought is to trade back and get more at bats in the draft, but moving back does not make the talent any better. If this scenario takes place on April 25th, the Texans will have to read their draft board, use every second of the clock to find a trade partner, but ultimately they should make this pick:The talented corner is already on the Texans’ (and Charley Casserly’s!) radar. He met with the Texans during the Senior Bowl, as reported by Aaron Wilson. It is not that taking Ya-Sin is a guaranteed bust or a wasted pick, but teams are looking for Pro Bowl talent in the first round. Ya-Sin ran a 4.51 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine which was well within the bottom half of times for defensive backs. He played most of his career at Presbyterian and only one season at Temple as a graduate transfer. He has prototypical cornerback size and length and knows how to be aggressive at the top of his routes. His film during the Senior Bowl presented much needed tape against NFL-ready talent. Ya-Sin would be an immediate solution for the Texans at corner. The team brought in Bradley Roby and Briean Boddy-Calhoun as band-aids, but Ya-Sin is a moldable talent who I could see Bill O’Brien and Brian Gaine pulling the trigger on over reaching for a definite second-round offensive lineman. Still, for all that Ya-Sin would bring, the Texans have their eyes on a player with a higher ceiling entering the draft.

Former general manager Ted Thompson earned the nickname “Trader Ted” for his frequent moves up and down the draft board. Whether moving out of the first round, as he did multiple times, or sneaking back into round one to grab Clay Matthews, Ted was always looking to find the best opportunities to improve the Packers’ roster on draft weekend.Last year, new GM Brian Gutekunst was active in his own right, particularly early on. After moving back from 14 to 28 in round one, adding an extra first-round pick for 2019, he climbed back up the board to nab cornerback Jaire Alexander with the 18th pick. He then moved up again back into round three to draft linebacker Oren Burks at 88 overall. This year, armed with ten picks — multiple selections in rounds one, four, and six — Gutekunst seems a sure bet to make some moves once again. While it looks unlikely that he will move up from 12, the Packers definitely could try to get back into the late teens or early twenties by packaging the 30th and 75th picks. Then, with a pair of fourths, they could make a play to get back into the latter part of day two.Or how about moving back from 12 a bit White Ka'dar Hollman Jersey , adding some ammunition on day two, and using that to climb up again from 30? EDTShareTweetShareShareReport: Detroit Lions sign UDFA guard Beau BenzschawelJeff Hanisch-USA TODAY SportsThe Detroit Lions have signed undrafted free agent guard Beau Benzschawel, according to a report on Sunday by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Per Rapoport’s report, the guard had more than 20 teams offering him a deal as an undrafted free agent. He chose to come to Detroit, and will have a chance to compete for a roster spot this training camp. The guard played four seasons for the Badgers. He was named as an All-American in both 2017 and 2018. He also earned first team All-Big Ten honors in both years. In 2016 he was named second team All-Big 10. Benzschawel should fit in well with the Lions offense — which projects to be run heavy under new offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell — as he was named by Pro Football Focus to be the best run blocker in college football last season. The guard is the 12th reported UDFA signing by the Lions. You can keep track of all of Detroit’s post-draft signings with our UDFA trackers here. DETROIT (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks celebrated a touchdown by acting out a baseball game in the end zone. Later, their punter ran for a first down when he was supposed to take a safety.Fair to say they’re playing with confidence again.Russell Wilson finished with a perfect passer rating, throwing three touchdown passes in Seattle’s 28-14 victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Seahawks and Lions came into the game with .500 records, but this matchup didn’t seem all that even. Seattle forced three turnovers , and after scoring three TDs in the second quarter, the Seahawks led comfortably the rest of the way.“We’re having fun, we’re in our groove and it feels good Michael Roberts Jersey ,” linebacker K.J. Wright said. “It’s a perfect time, coming off the bye week, to just really take off. We have a home game next week and we just have to start stacking these wins on top of each other.”After one second-quarter touchdown, the Seahawks (4-3) celebrated in the end zone with a baseball scene. Tyler Lockett was the pitcher and fellow receiver Doug Baldwin was the batter. The “pitch” was Lockett throwing the football toward Baldwin, and when Baldwin was hit by the ball, he ran at Lockett as if charging the mound. Two other receivers were involved: Jaron Brown acted as the catcher, and David Moore served as the umpire.“World Series, so we had to try to do something,” Moore said. The Lions (3-4) weren’t having nearly as much fun. Down 14 late in the fourth quarter, they allowed punter Michael Dickson to run for a first down. Dickson took the snap in his own end zone and was supposed to take a safety Taylor Decker Jersey , but Detroit reacted so poorly that after drifting across the back of the end zone, Dickson figured he had a chance for a first down and took off running.“Obviously, that part of the game we’re trying to do anything we can to get the ball and get after it,” Lions coach Matt Patricia said. “They were trying to take the safety and play that play there, and we obviously let him out and let him run. He saw the space and he took it.”Other items of note from Seattle’s victory:GROUNDEDDetroit’s rookie running back, Kerryon Johnson, was held to 22 yards on eight carries after running for a career-high 158 yards in his previous game against Miami.QUITE A LINEWilson was 14 of 17 for 248 yards and three touchdowns, for a perfect passer rating of 158.3.“Beautiful game,” coach Pete Carroll said. “Not just that, Russell’s doing more than just that. We ran the ball for 170-something yards today. He found some opportunities to run it and fix some things for us and took advantage of the game plan. He did a great job.”DEBUTDefensive tackle Damon Harrison played his first game for the Lions since being acquired in a trade from the New York Giants. He had seven tackles and a sack A’Shawn Robinson Jersey , but Detroit was outrushed 176-34.IN THEIR THOUGHTSThe Seahawks dedicated a game ball afterward to owner Paul Allen, who died Oct. 15. This was Seattle’s first game since then.“He meant so much to us, all of us players,” Wilson said. “The culture that he was able to create that will forever live on here for the Seattle Seahawks and the impact that he’s made, not just for us as individuals, as a team, but also as a city. There’s probably not too many people that have impacted the world more than he has.”UP NEXTThe Seahawks host the Los Angeles Chargers next weekend, while Detroit plays at Minnesota.

Then, when my time finally comes, I’d crawl into that river and let it carry me down to ocean, or if I’m lucky, into some emptied carcass of limestone, where the bat guano would boil me Youth Charles Omenihu Jersey , and the blind bugs would suck me up. Anyways, I’m at one of the central Texas State Parks. Walking 14 miles and trying to finish The Sound And The Fury to roll into Easter Sunday the right way. That’s all I got.

The Packers’ run with a full 90-man roster lasted less than a full day.Once again Jaire Alexander Jersey , the Green Bay Packers’ offseason roster sits below the 90-man limit. On Monday, the team released Lavon Coleman, a second-year running back vying to win a job in the backfield rotation.Coleman first arrived in Green Bay last October, landing a spot on the Packers’ practice squad after a seven-week stint with the Seattle Seahawks. Coleman remained on the practice squad until Week 16 when the team promoted him to the active roster. Coleman didn’t register a carry, though he appeared in one game. Coleman remained with Green Bay this offseason, participating in rookie minicamp last weekend. With Coleman off the roster, the Packers’ backfield rotation now consists of Aaron Jones Womens Davon House Jersey , Jamaal Williams, Tra Carson, Kapri Bibbs, and the recently drafted Dexter Williams. Fullbacks Dan Vitale and Malcolm Johnson will also compete for roster spots. On the same day the Packers released Coleman, they announced the additions of former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Chandon Sullivan and undrafted rookie wideout Darrius Shepherd. The team’s roster now stands at 89 total players. Green Bay Packers fans have been cheering against the New Orleans Saints all year long. Each Saints loss was a gain for the Packers, who acquired New Orleans’ first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft on day one of the 2018 selection meeting. Those efforts did not go well, however Brett Favre Jersey White , as the Saints finished 13-3 in the regular season, posting the best record in the entire NFL. A victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional round of the playoffs sent them to the NFC Championship Game. However, on Sunday afternoon, the Saints finally fell, losing to the Los Angeles Rams 26-23 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Greg Zuerlein’s 57-yard field goal in overtime sent the Rams to the Super Bowl and ended the Saints’ season. The loss locks New Orleans’ first-round draft pick in at the #30 overall slot. That slot belongs to whichever losing team in the Conference Championship round has the better record; although the Chiefs-Patriots game is just getting underway as of publishing of this article, both teams had an inferior record this season. Thus, the Packers now hold picks number 12 and 30 overall in round one http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-josh-jones-jersey , which would be the first time since 2009 that they would pick twice in the draft’s first round. The Packers also have picks 44 (round two) and 75 (round three). The trade that sent the Saints’ pick to Green Bay came on the first day of the 2018 NFL Draft, with New Orleans trading up from 28 to the Packers’ 14th pick by sending a fifth-round pick in 2018 and their first-rounder in 2019. Green Bay then traded back up to the 18th overall selection, picking Louisville cornerback Jaire Alexander.

They seem to enter every season with the off chance to sneak into a playoff spot, but seem unable to land a playoff spot higher than the six seed. Lions fans are all more than aware of the team’s inability to win a playoff game, or even a division title, in the Matthew Stafford era. The Ringer’s Robert Mays took stock of five NFL teams that seem to be stuck in no-man’s land, and the Lions made the list. Mays mentions the regression the offense showed last year, as Stafford had one of the worst seasons in his career and the struggles they had in pass defense last year. The team has huge question marks entering next season as well. Darrell Bevell’s new run-focused offense seems to be a blast from the past, and may not work in the modern NFL. The team still does not have a starting caliber outside corner to play across Darius Slay. With so many question marks entering the upcoming season it is hard to get a gauge on where the team stands, and how they will escape the dreaded no-man’s land. Detroit Lions team reporter Tori Petry took to Twitter to recap Wednesday’s minicamp action. She highlighted the work of the teams top two receivers Marvin Jones Jr. and Kenny Golladay, both of whom were limited.Detroit News’ Matthew Schoch gave us an interesting tidbit in an article that he wrote Thursday:That record is at risk this year Michael Roberts Jersey , though. The departure of T.J. Lang earlier this offseason left the team without any Great Lakes state-born players, and entering minicamp there is only one in state representative on the Detroit Lions. Anthony Pittman, a linebacker out of Wayne State University, is a long shot to make the roster, but is the last hope for their to be an in-state representative on Detroit’s 2019 roster.Pro Football Focus gave us some additional context as to who the Lions are getting with new wide receiver signing Jermaine Kearse:Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton listed who he believes to be the most promising building block on every NFL roster, and he chose wide receiver Kenny Golladay for Detroit.

With four teams on a bye Ryan Finley Cincinnati Bengals Jersey , setting your fantasy football lineup will be especially challenging in Week 5. Recent injuries and the continued use of running backs by committee are also making it hard to decide who should be in your starting lineup. We’ve analyzed this week’s matchups and have several suggestions that could help you determine who to start in Week 5 of your Fantasy Football season.START `EMQuarterback— Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay vs. New EnglandWinston has thrown for an average of 330 passing yards over the past two weeks and with top receiving weapons like Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson and Cameron Brate, he should be able to take advantage of a Patriots defense that has given up at least 300 passing yards to every QB they’ve met this season.— Jay Cutler, Miami vs TennesseeThe Titans give up the fifth most average passing yards per game, and opposing QBs have scored four TDs against them in each of the past two weeks. Look for Cutler to bounce back against a Titans team that lacks a pass rush and has allowed the second most fantasy points per game (FPPG) to quarterbacks.Running back— Leonard Fournette, Jacksonville at PittsburghFournette is averaging just over 20 carries and has scored a TD every game this season. He’s also averaging slightly more than 31 receiving yards per game. The Steelers are giving up 4.6 yards per carry (YPC) and have yielded the ninth most FPPG to opposing RBs.— Latavius Murray, Minnesota at ChicagoWith Dalvin Cook’s season over, Murray should lead the Vikings in carries this week. He hasn’t always played up to expectations Ryan Finley Jersey 2019 , but rushed for 1,000 yards in 2015, catches the ball out of the backfield and scored 12 TDs last season. The Bears have given up a TD to an RB in each game this year.— Isaiah Crowell, Cleveland vs. NY JetsWe recommended you sit Crowell last week, however with the overall uncertainty surrounding RBs this week, we need to give him a second look. The Jets have given up the third most FPPG to opposing RBs, as well as 4.7 YPC and an average of 147 rushing yards per game.Wide receiver— Chris Hogan, New England at Tampa BayInjuries have hurt the Buccaneers’ defense and they’ve given up the most FPPG to WRs. Hogan has the second most red zone targets in football and has caught at least one TD pass in three straight games.— Brandon Marshall, NY Giants vs. LA ChargersQB Eli Manning has targeted Marshall 21 times in the last two weeks and he’s produced double digit fantasy points in point-per-reception (PPR) leagues in those games. The Chargers have given up the second most TDs (six) to WRs.— Pierre Garcon Color Rush Ryan Finley Jersey , San Francisco at IndianapolisGarcon is averaging more than eight targets per game and leads the 49ers in receptions with 20. The Colts have given up the fourth most total yardage to WRs this season.Tight end— Austin Seferian-Jenkins, NY Jets vs. ClevelandThe Browns have yielded the most receptions, and second most FPPG to TEs. Jenkins has 10 targets and nine receptions in his first two games.— Hunter Henry/Antonio Gates, LA Chargers at NY GiantsHenry and Gates both have an opportunity to score a TD. The Giants, have allowed the most FPPG to TEs, and have surrendered at least one TD to TEs in each game this season.SIT `EMQuarterback— Andy Dalton, Bengals vs. BillsThe Bills defense has allowed just one passing TD this season. They’ve recorded 11 sacks, and with the Bengals having allowed 14 sacks, Dalton will likely be under pressure for much of Sunday afternoon.— Cam Newton Cheap Ryan Finley Jersey , Detroit vs. CarolinaThe Lions defense is second in the league with seven interceptions, and they’ve given up the fourth fewest FPPG to opposing QBs. Newton threw for 316 yards and ran for 44 more in Week 4, however opposing QBs have just one rushing yard against the Lions this season.Running back— Eddie Lacy/Thomas Rawls, Seattle at LA RamsSeattle RBs have a great matchup against the Rams, who’ve surrendered the most FPPG and TDs (6) to opposing backs. However, we don’t yet know who’ll get the majority of carries out of the Seahawks’ backfield. Lacy rushed for 4.73 YPC in limited work in Week 4, however Pete Carroll implied that Rawls could be his lead back. This is a situation that needs to be monitored as game time approaches.Wide receiver— Sammy Watkins, Los Angeles Rams vs. SeattleOther than Week 3, Watkins has averaged three targets and 35 receiving yards per game. The Seahawks have allowed the eighth fewest FPPG to WRs Ryan Finley Jersey Womens , and the fourth fewest average passing yards per game.— Tyreek Hill, Kansas City at HoustonThe Patriots had four passing TDs against the Texans in Week 3, but other than that, no other receiver has caught a TD pass against them. Hill is a boom or bust receiver playing against a Texans defense that has been particularly tough at home, having given up an average of just under 67 yards to receivers.Tight end— Jason Witten, Dallas vs. Green BayAfter getting off to a hot start, Witten has just one catch in each of his last two games. The Packers have given up the second fewest FPPG to tight ends. They also have yet to allow a TD to the position this season. Hopefully, the picks that they are announcing will have a similar impact on the team. This will be the third year in a row that the Bengals have selected former offensive players and current defensive players to announce their picks. T.J. An NFL linebacker for 11 seasons, Moss primarily oversaw the outside linebackers. When longtime defensive coordinator Dom Capers was fired after last season, Mike Pettine was hired as his replacement. The Packers turned to Philbin, the offensive coordinator and former Dolphins head coach, to take over for McCarthy for the last four games of the season.Moss’ limited interactions in recent years with the media were also often either brief or contentious.“Yeah I think it’s important obviously that everybody’s on the same page, that we’re all moving forward in the same direction. This year, two teams fired their head coaches prior to week 17. The Cleveland Browns canned Hue Jackson after eight weeks, while our Green Bay Packers sacked Mike McCarthy following an abulysmal week 13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. However Womens Kevin King Jersey , a few other teams decided to make their changes at that position immediately following their week 17 games, rather than waiting for the day after, often referred to as "Black Monday." Among the several they have made those decisions public already, two have fired their coaches, and as the day goes on we should hear about a few more teams doing so.Some of those fired individuals will be in line for head coaching jobs as soon as 2019 (Mike McCarthy in Cleveland, perhaps?) while others will likely have to take coordinator or position coach jobs for the time being. We're treating today's curds as a Black Monday primer to prepare everyone for what may transpire today.Todd Bowles has been fired by the Jets | Gang Green NationBowles was dealt a poor hand, and while it seems unlikely that he'll get another head coaching job this offseason, he should get some interviews at the very least. If not a head coach Jermaine Whitehead Jersey White , Bowles could definitely be a candidate for a defensive coordinator job if the Packers' new head coach does not retain Mike Pettine. Buccaneers fire Dirk Koetter | Bucs NationKoetter lasted three years in Tampa as the head coach, and he made Ryan Fitzpatrick into a hugely productive passer. However, the Bucs' defenses were abysmal and a seed cond straight losing season was not going to be tolerated. Adam Gase's future in doubt in Miami | NFL.comKeep an eye on Gase, Broncos coach Vance Joseph, and Arizona's Steve Wilks as some of the top candidates to be let go today.Packers could do clean sweep after blowout loss | Packersnews.comThere are still some fine coaches on this Packers staff - OL coach James Campen for one, probably Joe Whitt as another - but after Sunday's listless performance, would it surprise anyone if they were all gone in a few weeks?

The corner may be on the trading block."Former first-team All Pro cornerback and Super Bowl champion Chris Harris may not be a member of the Denver Broncos for much longer Womens Ricky Jean Francois Jersey , according to a report by ESPN’s Jeff Legwold. Harris reportedly wants a new deal that will make him the highest-paid corner in the league, and if the Broncos will not give him a new deal, then he will hope to get it somewhere else. With cornerback currently being the biggest need on the Detroit Lions, it is easy to see why general manager Bob Quinn would be interested in acquiring the star corner, but should he?Harris is entering the final year of his five-year, $42 million deal he signed with the Broncos in 2015. He has played eight seasons in the NFL since signing with Denver as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas in 2011. The corner intercepted 19 passes in his eight years in Denver, returning four for touchdowns. He has also been credited with 80 passes defended. In 2018, he tied a career high by intercepting three passes in a season that was cut short by a leg injury. With only a year left on his contract and the now public knowledge of his desire to be traded, the Broncos will not have much leverage in a potential trade. The team who receivesHarris will also have to either give him the deal he wants—which would make him the highest-paid corner in the league per NFL Network’s James Palmer—or be okay giving up assets for a one-year rental. Lucky for any potential suitors for Harris, NFL teams seem suddenly willing to take Day 3 picks for star players on expiring contracts in recent years. The Miami Dolphins recently dealt EDGE Robert Quinn to the Dallas Cowboys for a sixth-round pick, the Philadelphia Eagles received DeSean Jackson and a seventh rounder from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a sixth rounder. There is a chance that Detroit could land Harris for a Day 3 pick Anthony Zettel Jersey White , and if that’s the case, then they have no reason not to jump on that opportunity. Even if they have to part with a third rounder for Harris, the deal will be a steal for Detroit.Despite nearing 30, Harris remains as one of the best corners in the league. He is one of the league’s better corners in off coverage, but can beat up receivers at the line and stick with them in press coverage as well. He has great instincts and play-making skills, making him a lockdown zone corner as well. Harris also has the physicality and agility to kick inside to play nickel as well. As the team looks to potentially change around their coverage next season, a player as versatile as Harris is a perfect fit. The only potential issue that arises in this trade is Harris’ contract situation. If he gets traded to Detroit and the Lions do not want to give him a new deal, he may just hold out. If the Palmer report is to be believed, Harris will want around $15 million a year. Cornerback Darius Slay will already cost $15 million this season and newly-signed nickel Justin Coleman will count for an $11 million cap charge. The combination of the Lions top three corners would cost around $41 million. Add in Quandre Diggs $6 million cap charge this season and the team now has around $47 million invested in their top four defensive backs. Slay will also be entering a contract year in 2020, and he has also earned a huge extension. Signing Harris to a long deal may make extending Slay a little harder next offseason. Harris is only a year older than Slay, though Danny Amendola Jersey White , and one could argue Harris is a much better player. The addition of Harris would make the Lions secondary one of the best in the league and he will surely be worth whatever draft picks the team will have to send for him. Giving him the extension he wants could prove costly to the team down the line. If the team truly is all in on 2019, though, then making an offer for Harris seems like a no brainer.Thursday open thread: Which Lions players will impress vs. Browns? It’s last call for Detroit Lions players. Thursday night will be the last chance for several Lions player to showcase their talent before the men upstairs decide their fate for the 2018 season. In less than 45 hours after kickoff, the team will have to cut down from its current number of 87 players to just 53. That means 34 players will lose their job before Saturday night. That’s a rough time for everyone involved. But to avoid landing on the wrong side of the chopping block, Lions players will be giving it their all on Thursday night against the Cleveland Browns. We’ve already identified five+ players with the most on the line in the game, but who will rise to the occasion? Today’s Question of the Day is:Which Lions players will make the best impression on Thursday night? My answer: Let’s go with my typical one on offense, one on defense.Offensively, I think Thursday will be a big night for short-yardage receivers. With Matthew Stafford expect to sit for the entire game, expect a lot of checkdowns and quick passes from Matt Cassel and Jake Rudock. So the biggest beneficiary, in my opinion, will be a guy like Jace Billingsley. Considering he’s well off the roster bubble right now Michael Roberts Jersey White , he should be getting a lot of playing time against the Browns, and I think he’ll showcase his talent enough to get a shot somewhere else, if not on their normal roster than on their practice squad. Defensively, there are a lot of players that could use a good performance, and it’s basically a complete guess as to who will rise to the occasion. But since it’s such a fierce competition at linebacker, keep an eye out for Trevor Bates. Having spent some time already with the Patriots, Matt Patricia clearly likes something about him. Bates bring special teams skills, which could theoretically help compensate for the loss of Steve Longa this preseason, but he has yet to prove much as a linebacker. Thus far, the Lions have actually given him a fair amount of playing time—at least 17 defensive snaps each preseason game—but there’s a chance he could get even more with the starters presumably out on Thursday. We’ll see if he takes advantage.Your turn.Tweets from https://twitter.com/PrideOfDetroit/lists/lions-coverage
