Rather than hang around and run and run and run and run and wait for it to end Tashaun Gipson Jersey White , allowing the other team to come back, Houston went for it. Deshaun Watson threw two big touchdown passes—one to Will Fuller V off play-action, and the other to DeAndre Hopkins against busted zone coverage. At that point, the game was 35-17. It was over. It was a hill impossible for the Savannah galloping giraffe to churn up. Flat lands or downhill; that’s the only way he can move. Before that, the game was strange yet expected at the same time. The Dolphins threw a ton of short passes Christian Covington Jersey , and sometimes they worked, but usually they didn’t. The surprise was how well they ran the ball. Both Kenyan Drake and Frank Gore picked up more than anyone ever does against the best run defense in football. Lamar Miller also broke some deep runs and followed up his best game since Week 16 in 2016 with his best game since last week. The refs stole another thrumble from us and an under-the-legs Vince Carter slam dunk catch by DeAndre Hopkins. There was a wide receiver touchdown pass by Danny Amendola. There was an absurd ping-pong pass by [NAME REDACTED] where the ball was forced out of Jakeem Grant’s hands, into the defensive back’s shoulder pads, and somehow caromed over to DeVante Parker. It was some real bottle spinning. As much fun as it all was, the most important part was Deshaun Watson. It was another game without a turnover. The pass protection was once again pretty good. He was cloistered and wasn’t smashed around. In the red zone Womens Tyler Ervin Jersey , Watson used his mobility to turn something into nothing and created open throwing lanes with some good pocket seeping. The rest of that Chicago defense is pretty good, too.Now Green Bay must face the NFC’s top-ranked unit on the road on Sunday, a week after Chicago tripped up the high-octane Los Angeles Rams at Soldier Field.“You don’t have to go on and rant about how good Khalil is and all that stuff. Everybody knows who Khalil Mack is for a reason,” said Spriggs, who started last week for veteran Bryan Bulaga. “I think he brings a level of confidence to everybody on the defense, and we just have to key on that and make hay when we get the chances.”The right side of the Packers’ line could especially be a pressure point if Spriggs, a third-year player, starts again. Bulaga missed practice again Wednesday with a knee injury.Justin McCray appears to have taken over the right guard spot after starter Byron Bell (knee) went on injured reserve Wednesday. McCray started last week. Another backup, Lucas Patrick, started at left guard for Lane Taylor, who has a foot injury. The results for Green Bay’s backup-littered line were encouraging last week against Atlanta in a victory that snapped a three-game losing streak and kept slim playoff hopes alive. After allowing four sacks in the first half, the Packers (5-7-1) didn’t allow one the rest of the game. Aaron Rodgers and the offense were effective throwing quick, short passes in winning Joe Philbin’s debut as interim head coach and offensive play caller.“I wouldn’t say the concepts were basic, but I thought the flow was really good Youth Jace Sternberger Jersey ,” Rodgers said. “Joe did a great job. The communication was great on the sideline and the flow was good and kind of got into a rhythm.”Philbin has made it a point to mostly stick to the same routines the Packers had under fired predecessor Mike McCarthy. While it’s difficult to go through a coaching change, players have said that they appreciate the relatively smooth transition.“I mean, he kind of fit into the role pretty seamlessly,” left tackle David Bakhtiari said. “He’s done a great job adding his spin to it, yet keeping kind of the integrity of the schedule, so it’s not completely different after having guys who were used to something for so long.“So overall it’s been pretty fluid, even in the first week,” he added. There is no sense changing things up so dramatically when it will be a tough enough task to hold off the Bears. The Packers, though, do have an intangible going into Sunday that the Rams lacked: Green Bay has won eight straight at Soldier Field. The run started with Green Bay’s victory in the NFC title game on Jan. 23, 2011.There’s also a confidence boost that comes with the Packers’ stirring rally in the season opener in September, scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter for a 24-23 win over Chicago. The game marked Mack’s debut with the Bears following his trade from the Oakland Raiders.Rodgers returned at halftime from a left knee injury to add to the drama The Packers went no-huddle in the second half of that game, though Rodgers stayed primarily in the pocket. It was the Packers’ offense at its best.“I mean getting into a rhythm, not only just as an offensive line, but just as an offense in general,” Bakhtiari said about the key takeaway from that night.Rodgers is healthier now with the ability to scramble out of trouble again. Mack White Jace Sternberger Jersey , who has 10 sacks and six forced fumbles, has the benefit playing nearly an entire season in the Bears’ scheme. The linebacker has been mainly lining up on the right side of the defense in recent weeks, though he can easily switch sides.Respect Mack and be prepared. But don’t get caught up in the star power, Spriggs said.“You can’t go out there and be like you’re blocking God,” Spriggs said. “But at the same time, you give respect where respect’s due.”NOTES: Taylor was limited in practice Wednesday. … DL Kenny Clark (elbow) and CB Bashaud Breeland (groin/not injury related) missed practice. This week, we’re confessing to some of our biggest missed calls on draft prospects."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections The APC PodcastPackers Film RoomFantasy Football AdviceCDTShareTweetShareShareWednesday Walkthroughs: APC’s biggest NFL Draft scouting missesJeff Hanisch-USA TODAY SportsIt’s officially the heart of NFL Draft season, both in personnel departments around the league and on the Internet. At Acme Packing Company, a thought occurred this week: what players have we evaluated horribly poorly? That became the prompt for this week’s Walkthroughs, where five APC writers discuss one player each whom they thought would be great (or at least pretty good) but...just...weren’t. Who’s your biggest miss? Drop a line below in the comments.Evan “Tex” Western: Jerel WorthyWhen the Packers landed Worthy out of Michigan State in round two of the 2012 NFL Draft, I was ecstatic. The team’s 2011 defense was a sieve, giving up massive yardage both through the air and on the ground and generally having no pass rush to speak of. Clay Matthews saw his sacks drop off a cliff from 13 to six, while inside linebacker Desmond Bishop finished second on the team with five and no other player had more than three. One of the common refrains about the defense was that it missed Cullen Jenkins, a talented interior pass-rusher who helped distract offenses from Matthews. With Jenkins departing in free agency after Super Bowl XLV, the Packers’ attempt to replace him by committee in 2011 was an abject failure. Enter Worthy, who was a dominant force on the line in East Lansing for three years. I was excited about his ability to produce as an interior pass-rusher and believed that his athleticism -- pretty good for a 6-foot-2 http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-brett-hundley-jersey , 310-pound lineman -- would translate well to the NFL. In hindsight, perhaps I was just more excited by how he fit on the defense and the role that I expected him to play.As it turned out, an interior lineman from a Big Ten school that Ted Thompson chose in that draft did indeed become the star three-technique that the Packers needed. However, that was Mike Daniels, taken 81 picks after Worthy in the fourth round. Worthy quickly played his way out of Green Bay, as he suited up for just two games in his second season before being traded midway through his third training camp with the team. (Fun fact: Worthy was still in the NFL as recently as last season; he played four games for the Buccaneers in 2018.)Peter Bukowski: Brett Hundley A big, physical QB who can make plays on the run and flashes tremendous arm talent, Hundley had me sold. I thought he could pick up NFL offenses faster. I still believe he could have been more productive for the Packers with more RPOs, more half-field reads, and simpler concepts, but Mike McCarthy was unwilling to provide such a template. The reality though, is simply Hundley never processed quickly enough, never saw the field and was able to pull the trigger based off what he was seeing. No trait is more important for a QB and the offense they ran at UCLA mitigated that concern because so much was predicated on one-read throws. I take solace knowing smart people agreed with me, including Mike McCarthy and the Packers organization. Adam Schefter reported after Aaron Rodgers went down in 2017 with the collarbone that many around the league felt Hundley could do a good job. We ran a piece that included praise from Pac-12 Network analyst and Elite 11 coach Yogi Roth and ex-scout Bucky Brooks. But they were wrong too. We all were. Matub: Jason SpriggsHonestly, I was not a big draft-follower until around 2013. This severely hinders my ability to look back and pick a prospect with whom I was in love with. But man...Jason Spriggs. Jason became every Combine Truther’s best friend by fitting perfectly into all the stereotypes you see on draft profiles. “Look like Tarzan, Play like Jane.” “Workout warrior.” “Winner of the Underwear Olympics.”Jason Spriggs is a top 20 ALL TIME tackle in terms of raw athleticism:But Ty Summers Jersey Mens , sadly, football isn’t 100% athleticism. Jason has yet to live up to his draft position or his athletic profile. I’ve been referring to him as “The Human Lagspike” for quite a while now, as he always seems to be a third of a second behind everyone else on the field.Paul Noonan: Brian BrohmA brief lesson on the limits of analytics and “scouting by stats.” When Brohm was about to enter the NFL draft Football Outsiders published some findings on the college stats the correlated best to NFL success. Those stats were completion percentage, and games started, with the caveat that this applied only to players taken in the first two rounds. There were some good reasons for this, as a player who played a lot of games and was good enough to be drafted high had selection bias working in their favor. Scouts would have seen plenty of tape on said player, and knocked him or elevated him as warranted. A player being drafted on potential after just a season or two would be more about speculation, and more nebulous. Completion percentage also seemed like a good proxy for quality - at the time. Accuracy is probably the most important attribute a quarterback can have, and completion percentage seems - on the surface - like a good measurement. It is not. Or, at least, it started to become less so as QB-friendly offenses invaded the highest levels of college football, completion percentage started to reflect scheme much more than QB talent. Such was the case with Brohm, who checked all the right boxes, but also exposed the limits of this kind of analysis and embodied the passing revolution at the college level. It’s fine to shy away from a player struggling to complete passes, but don’t fall in love with someone based on college stats. Jon Meerdink: Datone JonesI am still waiting for the Datone Jones breakout season. Sooner or later, he’s going to put it all together. He just hasn’t had the right opportunity yet! It couldn’t be that I was simply wr...wr...wro...incorrect about his ability to produce at the NFL level!Actually Youth Ty Summers Jersey , it’s definitely that. And I can pinpoint the exact moment I went astray. It all started with a Bleacher Report article (first mistake!) that laid out Jones’s professionalism (he wore a suit to his Combine meetings!) and physical characteristics (he has a great build!), two characteristics that would surely lead to NFL success (they didn’t!).From there, it was just a matter of self-justification. No evidence to the contrary would shake me from my belief that Jones was, at the very least, an eight to 10-year starter on the defensive line, perhaps a multiple-time Pro Bowler. Turns out, not so much, and as a result, I’ve cut down a lot of my pre-draft reading. Sure, the occasional rosy profile is still fun. But it’s much better to rely on tape and testing, and taking both with a significant grain of salt.

I think that’s the case. I don’t want to judge people based on one incident. Two incidents. [: Three incidents.] I think it’s a case-by-case situation for a player and for people in general. That’s kind of my stance.”Of course, it’s not like the Dolphins have given Walton a job.“He’s here on a tryout,” Flores said. “Obviously, talented player. But we want to take a look at him and see if he was a fit for us, on the field and off the field. I think he’s done a good job, really in the one day that he’s been here. Getting to know him. And getting to see him on and off the field.”That’s fair, but here’s the point to remember when it comes to second chances for NFL players. With a fixed number of jobs, every player who gets a second chance necessarily takes away someone else’s spot — quite possibly, someone who never did anything that would require a second chance. But talent continues to fuel NFL second chances. If a guy is good (and Walton was good enough to be a fourth-round pick in 2018), he gets a second chance. Some wacky picks in the top-10 led to his fall Jonah Williams Cincinnati Bengals Jersey , and with the Steelers trading up to the 10th overall pick to select linebacker Devin Bush, it became a pretty easy pick for Cincinnati.Still, some concerns remain about where Williams’ ceiling as a player will be. Some believe that due to the length of his arms that he will never be anything more than a guard, but the Bengals see their franchise left tackle. Honestly, at this point the Bengals need a career offensive lineman at any position, so it really doesn’t matter too much. One thing that really does set him apart from the Bengals’ last first round offensive tackle, Cedric Ogbuehi, is his unstoppable work ethic and commitment to his craft.“I think I’m talented, athletic and strong. I think it all circles around to those. ...My approach to the game and my practice habits,“ Williams told reporters. “I’m really a perfectionist with my technique. That’s something I hang my hat on, which is just being able to go on the field and know that I know exactly what I need to do to beat the guy across from me. At the end of the day, it’s O-line. I can talk about all these numbers, stats and (other) things I try to keep, but at the end of the day, you have to go on the field and block someone. So that’s what I build my whole game around — making sure when I go to do that, I’m as ready as I can be.”This is the exact mindset you want out of a guy who you hope to have for the next decade. You want a player who leaves no stone unturned and knows as much about the guy lining up across form him as possible. It should also be noted that Williams also keeps an excel spreadsheet with all the data of guys he has faced. He also watches a ton of tape on himself as well.“I had a head start on [watching film] in high school. I had great high school coaches who had film. And they had the end zone angle film, which not a lot of high school coaches have.” Williams said. “That allowed me to break down Jonah Williams Jersey 2019 , from an offensive line standpoint, defensive structure, and to be able to become a perfectionist with my technique. Every time I watch a clip, I see something I could have done a little bit better,“I think if you do that enough times, you start to get pretty refined. So a lot of it is just on my own, sitting there with the iPad, going over the film over and over again, seeing what I can do, and going out on the field and applying it the next day. Knowing that if I did something wrong, why did I do that? What was wrong with my hand placement, my footwork — things like that — and how I can fix that. I know when I watch that, I learn what I need to do, go on the field and apply what I just learned, and doing that enough days (in a row) until you get better.”An underrated reason why this aspect of Williams is so important for the Bengals, is his ability to help younger guys in the future. He can be the guy in a few seasons that rookies and younger players flock towards or watch to see how a pro does it. He is the guy you want everyone in your offensive line room listening to. Coach on the field couldn’t describe this aspect of Williams any better. Then came the time for Williams to choose his number. You’d think that it’d be an important decision for a rookie coming in, but Williams wasn’t too concerned about it. Although White Jonah Williams Jersey , his number’s origin does come from a player Bengals fans are pretty familiar with seeing twice a season.“I actually didn’t really think about [if the no. 73 would be available] too much, until we went into the equipment room. They asked, ‘What number do you want?’, and I was like, ‘I guess 73 if it’s available,’ just thinking to take whatever number is available. They said it was, so I was pretty stoked about that, getting to keep that number. It’s a Bengals jersey, and that’s what I’m most excited about, no matter what the number is.”“[The no. 73 was inspired by former-Browns’ offensive tackle Joe Thomas] was. I was 77 in high school but couldn’t do that at Alabama. Somebody already had that number, so I had to pick a different one. I wanted to be in the 70s, and I just couldn’t really pick. Then I realized that I really idolized him and watched a lot of his film, so if I’m going to pick a number in the 70s, it’ll might as well be that.”Thomas was probably the best left tackle in football for a vast majority of his Browns’ career. You’d be hard pressed to find a better inspiration for an offensive tackle coming into the league. Cincinnati saw first-hand on several occasions just how good Thomas was. Hopefully Williams can help do the number proud.Williams isn’t all technician though. We’ve talked at length about his intangibles and dedication to his craft, but he still has that controlled rage you look for in your offensive linemen. Something he can hopefully spread throughout the Bengals’ offensive line.“Absolutely [I play with a different personality on the field]. I’m not a trash-talker, I’m not dirty or anything like that. My goal is to make person not want to keep lining up across from me,” Williams said. “I want them to ask to switch to the other side or ask to get a sub in. I’m pretty calm Black Jonah Williams Jersey , pretty collected off the field, but I have a switch that I can turn on, and it’s a whole different deal when that happens. “I think people try to put other people in boxes, especially in this draft process. A lot of people will put me in that technician, smart-guy box.” Williams continued. “That’s true and that’s something I pride myself on, but I’m also a lineman, and I want to get on the field, I want to impose my will on people, and I want to be part of a unit that does that to opposing defenses. There’s no better feeling than blocking up the D-line, driving them off the ball, being physical, seeing your running back make a play or seeing your quarterback get the ball out. That’s such a satisfying feeling as an offensive line.”Williams should be quite at home with Cincinnati for a long time.

You knew at some point it would come to an end. No. That sounds too final.Cincinnati’s comeback ability against adversity Jeff Driskel Jersey , a storyline that’s fueled the Bengals this year, stalled on Sunday. That’s all we mean. The season is clearly alive and the Bengals hold a significant piece of the division pie through six weeks — though even that silver-lining offers minimal comfort against an opponent like Pittsburgh. It’s just a game. Why are you pacing in the living room, or tepidly chomping your fingernails in the stands? This isn’t just any game. We’re not talking about Atlanta or Miami here. This is Steelers week. Sure, the game counts the same as any other. But there’s so much emotional subtext. We’re eating a spoonful of emotions during these meetings. When the Bengals do something great against Pittsburgh, there’s always the potential for our exuberant reactions to be recorded and go viral. And cursing. There’s a lot of that too. Our emotions against the Steelers have lingered for far too long. We can cite “the injury” in 2005. We could probably stretch further into the Chin and Jerome Bettis years. Cincinnati needs a way to purge these lingering feelings of inferiority against Pittsburgh if they want something more. Exorcise your demons, if you will. Will the Bengals win another playoff game? Will they return to the Super Bowl? Will they ever beat Pittsburgh again?Sunday’s game was the type of contest you expect out of the AFC North; a slugfest between two titans vying to write competing narrative. It wasn’t a must-win, but both teams needed a win — the Bengals want to beat an unbeatable nemesis (to them), and the Steelers are trying to expel mounting adversity of their own.It wasn’t pretty. At all. Rain spat all afternoon, from a drizzle to something more steady at times. There was the endless curtain of grey clouds and dreariness. Questionable penalties and missing holding calls emphasized an apocalyptic atmosphere. Pittsburgh punished Cincinnati’s defense, sending Darqueze Dennard (arm in a sling after the game) and Nick Vigil (on crutches) to the locker room, with William Jackson, Carlos Dunlap, Dre Kirkpatrick, Jessie Bates, and Vontaze Burfict randomly exiting with bangs and bruises. Darius Phillips (the only man capable of stopping Vance McDonald), Clayton Fejedelem, and Vincent Rey filled in. Jordan Evans spelled Burfict, who may need to answer questions regarding his conditioning. The Steelers generated 481 yards on offense, with running back James Conner posting 111 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Ben Roethlisberger passed for 369 yards and the Steelers had two receivers with 100+ yards — Antonio Brown (105 yards receiving) and JuJu Smith-Schuster (111 yards receiving). It’s the third time this season Cincinnati’s defense allowed 425 yards or more to their opponent. Coaches may need to answer questions about Cincinnati’s devolving defense. Are we premature in judgement? Are they still getting used to Teryl Austin’s philosophy?Despite everything http://www.thebengalslockerroom.com/authentic-clint-boling-jersey , Cincinnati nearly pulled out the win. Those cardiac cats. The Bengals took a 21-20 lead with 1:21 remaining, their first lead since the 14:37 mark in the second quarter. Their improbable comeback, capped by a four-yard Joe Mixon run, was the result of a C.J. Uzomah third down conversion, two A.J. Green snags (for 23 and seven yards respectively), and a Tyler Boyd catch for 16 yards. Fans inside Paul Brown Stadium lost their collective minds. Gray and dreariness gave way to sunshine and cotton candy. Two scenarios emerged:Continue to establish a narrative that Cincinnati fights until the end, despite facing significant deficits and adversity; The Bengals left far too much time for the Steelers to mount their own comeback. “You can look at it now and say we could have taken up more time, but I don’t think teams will think about it in real time,” said Dalton after that game. “It’s unfortunate we left too much time. Ben’s been good in that situation for years, and we weren’t able to get it done.”Pittsburgh had the ball with 1:18 remaining from their own 23-yard line. Within six plays, including a 23-yard pass to Smith-Schuster and a “trash” defensive hold on Dre Kirkpatrick, the Steelers had first down from Cincinnati’s 31-yard line. Antonio Brown navigated around an illegal pick on a quick slant for a game-winning touchdown with 10 ticks remaining on the clock. NOTE: Senior VP of Officiating Al Riveron says the pick is legal because the defense initiated contact — does it matter that Justin Hunter doesn’t even run the route and is clearly a blocker during the entire play? Sunday Night Football’s rules expert disagreed.“That is a disappointing way to lose a football game, (after) we get back and get the lead and so forth,” Marvin Lewis said after the game. “We had some good things throughout the day, but not enough to win the football game throughout. When we get depleted, we have to step up and get to the next guy, and the next guy has to make a play. That was a great job by the offense of going down the field and giving us the lead after the field goal. But we have to figure out a way to stop the (Steelers’) offense and win the football game.”Brown’s touchdown may have been the winning-score, but it wasn’t what beat Cincinnati. Those season-long vulnerabilities surfaced throughout Sunday’s game; the 5-10 yard gap in coverage; the pass rush disappearing for long periods; huge chunk of yards allowed; missed tackling, especially against the bulldozer Vance McDonald. Pittsburgh had three players with more than 100 yards (either receiving or rushing). However Alex Erickson Jersey , there were positives. Pittsburgh compiled a 12-play drive early in the third quarter that spanned 85 yards, reaching the Bengals one-yard line. This scenario had an interesting setup; Jesse Bates slammed into James Conner forcing the running back out at the one. Had the Steelers demanded a review, most likely it’s called a touchdown. They didn’t and it wasn’t. Cincinnati’s Swiss cheese defense became a block of Grade A awesome after that. First they held Conner to nothing and then forced an incompletion to Jesse James. Cincinnati concluded the drive with a two-yard loss, starting with Sam Hubbard making initial contact in the backfield and Vontaze Burfict clearing the plate for a two-yard loss. Chris Boswell chipped the 21-yarder to give Pittsburgh a 17-14 lead.On the flip side of the ball, Cincinnati’s offense lacked identity. They relied entirely too much on the pass against one of the league’s worst pass defenses. Granted, the logic is sound. However, going with a pass-heavy game-plan has rarely worked for Cincinnati. Since 2011, the Bengals have only won eight of 27 games when Andy Dalton passes 40 times or more — two of those have come this season. Mixon was underutilized. Sunday’s game featured a season-low 64 rushing . yards, but a career-high (during games with 10 carries or more) 5.8 yards/rush. Explosive runs of 17, 16, and 13 yards were peppered throughout the game. Momentum was building for Mixon during the team’s third possession, as he touched the ball four times for 37 yards. Then Mark Walton entered the game, lost a yard, and Cincinnati punted after a quality Matt Hinton defensive effort on Tyler Boyd. Is Mixon still feeling his way back? Will he become a bell-cow player (he only had 11 carries) soon — does he need more periodic rest until he’s fully healed? Bengals running backs have enjoyed relative success this season. There were also too many third down drops, from the reliable A.J. Green to the unknown Cody Core. They looked uneasy early. Dalton’s confidence in the pocket is arguably worse against Pittsburgh than any team, with happy feet focusing more on scrambling away from pressure. However, in fairness to Dalton, he was better than most of his offensive teammates. There were question marks on their decision making process. The Bengals have third-and-one from the Steelers 40-yard line with 14:04 remaining in the third. Cincinnati called run and Joe Mixon didn’t have a shot. With Cincinnati showing jumbo formation (minus a lead blocker), an unblocked defender collides with Mixon in the backfield. Cincinnati elects to punt it from the Steelers 40-yard line Clayton Fejedelem Jersey , with Kevin Huber’s 28-yard pooch, to Pittsburgh’s 12-yard line. The Steelers went 80 yards on their next possession, kicking a field goal to take a 17-14 lead. Why be predictable on third down? Why punt? Clock management at the end of the game — should they have milked the clock or just ignored that and found a way to score? Don’t get me wrong. There were positive moments on offense, too. Their first touchdown drive included three significant third down conversions, with the reliable C.J. Uzomah converting a third-and-seven and A.J. Green making up for one drop by hauling in a 19-yard reception on third-and-10. Boyd capped the drive with a two-yard touchdown reception on third-and-goal. Cincinnati tied the game 14-14 with a high-speed offense late in the second, enabled by one of Alex Erickson’s great kickoff returns (had a 47 and 51-yarder and now leads the league in kickoff return average). Dalton, completing all five passes on that drive, found a wide-open Boyd near the front left pylon for the Bengals’ second touchdown of the afternoon.Regardless, Cincinnati’s narrative against Pittsburgh remains. The Steelers hammered the Bengals on both sides of the ball, extending Cincinnati’s losing streak against Pittsburgh to seven. Games are close, and sometimes they’re not. Officials conveniently ignore obvious game-winning penalties, or sometimes they allow the emotions to carry the game. Either way, it’s the same story.Cincinnati measures their success against the Steelers, and while the story is told differently each time, it’s usually the same frustrating conclusion. That is, until Troymaine Pope arrived. While his name was never called in the 2016 NFL Draft, Pope was later signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Seattle Seahawks. He found himself on the wrong side of the Turk a few months later, but landed in New York with the Jets for a short span before returning to Seattle’s practice squad. He managed to play in three games with Seattle, posting a 3.9 yard rushing average. A product of Jacksonville State Julien Davenport Jersey White , Pope hasn’t quite followed the path of a far more famous undrafted free agent running back named Arian Foster. But Pope admires another AFC South legend, Maurice Jones-Drew. While his numbers at running back have yet to set the world on fire, where Pope brings the most excitement in my estimation is the return game. Even though Tyler Ervin has showed improvement this preseason, visions of muffed punts dance through my mind whenever I see Ervin back there as a return man. When Ervin landed in H-Town, the idea of having a rapid-fire scatback to offset what Lamar Miller and Alfred Blue can do made total sense. Hammer the defense with Blue, get them on their heels with Miller Justin Reid Jersey White , and then have a slippery speedster jet through the C or D gap for a long run against a tired defense. As we all know, Ervin has yet to deliver that sort of thing with any regularity, and his ability to find holes in the return game has been suspect at best. Pope, on the other hand...While one was called back due to a penalty, Pope has returned two kicks in the preseason for a total of 103 yards. 103.Yeah, while that’s not likely to happen every time Womens Ryan Griffin Jersey , imagine what Deshaun Watson and crew could do with a starting field position bolstered by a real return game. Pope has good hands, solid vision, and the ability to find the hole. He’s blessed with the type of speed that breaks plays open and the size to get lost behind the big bodies, making it hard for defenders to keep track of him. While he certainly doesn’t have the massive lower body power of Maurice Jones-Drew, he could become the next Trindon Holiday or, even better Womens Stephen Anderson Jersey , Darren Sproles. With Houston’s apparent improved special teams scheme under Brad Seely, the benefit of new kickoff rules, and an offensive line that seems to be heading in the right direction, who knows what the future might hold for Troymaine Pope?Hopefully, it’s a lot of highlight reel plays like he had in college. If not, at least he can spell Lamar Miller and create enough distractions in the backfield to give Watson more time to connect with DeAndre Hopkins http://www.thetexanslockerroom.com/authentic-senio-kelemete-jersey , Will Fuller V, and Keke Coutee. What do you think of Pope?

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers faced questions about whether he wanted to sit out the final two games of the season this week and said he had no desire to sit out even though the team was out of the playoff race.So Rodgers was on the field against the Jets on Sunday and he threw the game-winning touchdown pass to Davante Adams in overtime to cap a comeback from 15 points down in the third quarter. After the 44-38 win Jace Sternberger Jersey Womens , Rodgers said he was glad he played because “you never know how many opportunities you鈥檙e going to get” and shared more of his thoughts about why it was important to play.“That it matters,” Rodgers said. “That even when the record isn鈥檛 great and you鈥檙e not going to the playoffs, it still matters. That I have a lot of pride. I love competing in anything. Like I said on the field after the game, I don鈥檛 want to look back in 20 years and wonder what if I鈥檇 played in that game? Could something special have happened? What it would look like to my teammates if they knew I kind of quit on them? So Jace Sternberger Green Bay Packer , I hope my teammates know that I鈥檓 never going to quit on them? I鈥檓 about to give everything that I鈥檝e got and they did the same.”Rodgers threw for 442 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 32 yards and two touchdowns over the course of the game. He also said that he has “another week in me” with the Lions on the schedule for the season finale. Clay Matthews left a strong impression on Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay the last time he saw him in person on a football field. While 2018 was a disappointing year for Matthews overall, his best game of the season arguably came against McVay and the Rams in October. Matthews notched a season-high seven tackles and recorded one of his 3.5 sacks on the season. Matthews may be set to enter his 11th season in the NFL, but the prospect of having Matthews a part of a Wade Phillips defense has McVay eager to get started.“We saw a lot of good stuff when we saw him last year and I鈥檝e always respected his game from afar when you鈥檝e coached against him,” McVay told reporters this week at the coaches’ breakfast at the league meetings. “So when you鈥檙e able to add two players like he and Eric Weddle – veteran players that are about the right stuff Jace Sternberger Jersey 2019 , being out in L.A. it鈥檚 a good deal to be able to get Clay back home.”Specifically, it’s Matthews’ versatility that McVay is most excited to see join his team.“He brings a veteran presence that has a lot of versatility to his skill set,” McVay said. “And when you look at it from an offensive standpoint when you think about the guys that can do a lot of different things that pose problems to a defense he does the same thing to offenses. He can rush the passer he can play in coverage. You can move him all over the place. So I think versatile players that are smart that have the ability to have production in a lot of ways they give you a lot of different things they can do defensively.”Matthews thought the fit with the Rams would be ideal for him as well. He’ll get a chance to pair with Dante Fowler, Michael Brockers and Aaron Donald on the Rams defensive line.

EDTShareTweetShareShareFormer Detroit Lions 3rd-round pick Travis Swanson retiresRaj Mehta-USA TODAY SportsFormer Detroit Lions third-round pick Travis Swanson announced his retirement on Saturday morning via an Instagram post.Swanson’s decision to retire at the young age of 28 appears to be one based on his family priorities. “This ultimately came down to a family decision between Emily and I,” Swanson wrote. “When my daughter Kendyl was born and I first saw her, my heart expanded and completely changed my priorities. I will always love football, but the love for your child is a level of love that has no comparison.”Swanson spent four years in Detroit, starting 42 games throughout his rookie contract. The Lions opted not to re-sign Swanson Jahlani Tavai Jersey Mens , so the Jets signed him. He didn’t end up making the final cuts in New York, but he quickly found a home with the Miami Dolphins as depth. When starting center Daniel Kilgore went down with an injury early in the season, Swanson came in and started 11 games for the Dolphins. He was not re-signed at the end of the 2018 season and remained a free agent until his retirement announcement Sunday. We wish Swanson the best in family life, and thanks for the four years in Detroit! Time to make a confession."Now that we’re less than two weeks away from the NFL Draft, it’s a good time to take a look inward and remind yourself that we often know nothing. For as much research as we do into the NFL Draft Kenny Golladay Jersey , there are countless example from literally anyone in which their detailed scouting report or or their draft projections were wildly off.We fall in love with a prospect or claim that someone shouldn’t go until the sixth round of the draft, then they go on to have a completely surprising career. We shouldn’t run from our mistakes, we should celebrate them and learn from then. Use that experience to constantly remind yourself that while we may feel confident about our scouting process, there’s always a pretty darn good chance we’re going to look like an idiot on draft day and beyond. So let’s celebrate our mistakes with today’s Question of the Day:What NFL Draft prospect did you end up getting completely wrong? My answer: T.J. Clemmings.Back in 2015, I took Clemmings in our POD Community Mock Draft. I passed up on the likes of Todd Gurley Michael Roberts Jersey , Marcus Peters, and Byron Jones.I made the fatal mistake of believing too much in potential and not enough in actual results. Taking a developmental tackle new to the position was way too big of a risk for the 23rd overall pick, and NFL teams knew it. In reality, Clemmings wasn’t selected until the fourth round. He only lasted two years with the Vikings, then spent a couple years bouncing around the league as depth. As of today Travis Fulgham Detroit Lions Jersey , he is a free agent.

Over a week before the Bengals officially announced that they hired Zac Taylor as their new head coach Trey Hopkins Jersey White , there was word that former Jaguars and Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio was in the running to be their defensive coordinator. The official announcement of Taylor’s hiring came on Monday and it was followed by a report that Del Rio was set to formally interview for the job this week, but it appears that won’t be happening.Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Bengals and Del Rio have decided that a working relationship between them is not a “perfect fit.” Per the report Clayton Fejedelem Jersey White , Del Rio and Taylor spoke to one another before reaching this conclusion. Del Rio is still being paid by the Raiders after being fired with three years left on his contract, which makes it easier to wait for a perfect fit to come along.Taylor will be introduced at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon and could provide some idea of where a defensive coordinator search might go without Del Rio in the mix. Former Bengals first-rounder John Ross hasn’t lived up to his draft status (the guy picked before Patrick Mahomes may never do that) Womens Joe Mixon Jersey , but the Bengals may not be ready to give up on him yet.But Bengals director of player personnel Duke Tobin criticized reports that the team was looking to unload the speedy wideout as “fake news“, counter to what was widely reported yesterday.“We’ve had NO discussion about John Ross Vincent Rey Jersey White ,” Tobin said. “That’s from ‘ready, fire Alex Erickson Jersey White , aim’ school of journalism.”Denying the existence of such talks is easy enough to do. It would probably be much harder to acquire anything of sufficient value in exchange for him. He’s caught 21 passes for 210 yards and seven touchdowns, as he battled through injuries and inconsistent play. The best bet for the Bengals at this point might be to work with him and hope a new offensive system under coach Zac Taylor allows him to show something other than straight-line speed.
