The Packers decided to go in a new direction with their EDGE rushers this off-season Bart Starr Jersey , bringing in two new Smiths."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections The APC PodcastPackers Film RoomFantasy Football AdviceCDTShareTweetShareShareNFC North in Free Agency: Packers swap out edge rushersBrad Mills-USA TODAY SportsThis is the fourth and final installment of a series examining the free agent moves around the NFC North division. After last years dabbling in the shallow end of free agency, Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst took off the organization’s water wings and waded deeper into the pool. He added key pieces to a defense that lacked depth last season, while cutting bait with some familiar faces. The new signings by the Packers changed the draft strategy of the team and how analysts might have looked at potential picks. There is still great advantage to adding a pass rusher in the draft, despite signing Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith as edge rushers, but now the need is less dire if the right prospect isn’t there with one of the team’s first two picks at 12 or 30 overall. Both Smiths have sack numbers that are lower than one would like to see from stud pass rushers given the large sums of money they received, but their situations can be seen as a cause for the lack of production. Preston logged 53 pressures in 468 pass rushing stats last year, which ranks among the league’s best. As we’ve heard quite clearly this off-season, it’s about how well disrupt the quarterback that’s important.Za’Darius Smith put together 8.5 sacks last season, but in limited action. There’s reason to think that perhaps the production was a flash in the pan Ray Nitschke Jersey , or alternatively, could mean that more opportunities for him to be disruptive will mean even greater sack production. The Packers also added a young safety in Adrian Amos. Not only was he taken from a division rival, but he helps plug a glaring weakness after Ha Ha Clinton-Dix was dealt to Washington last season. Eddie Jackson got a lot of the shine in Chicago, but his former teammate, Amos, is a skilled safety who allowed Jackson to do what he could in certain cases. Amos is a sound tackler who can provide run-game support in the box as well as cover deep.Bringing in new players weren’t the only moves the Packers made this off-season. They cut bait with long-time Packer Clay Matthews III by letting him walk in free agency and released Nick Perry just two years after signing him to a hefty extension in 2017. Matthews was an aging EDGE who probably wasn’t worth a new contract given that he’s mostly rotational pass rusher at this point. Perry, meanwhile, had one good year just in time to earn a fat extension, but around that Dave Robinson Jersey , his time in the NFL has been marred by injury and spotty play. It was time to cut ties with the linebacker and start fresh. Gutekunst can now shift his focus to the draft without having urgent needs looming over the Packers’ two draft picks in the first round. Another EDGE? Adding a tight end in addition to re-signing Marcedes Lewis? An offensive lineman? All options are on the table.Major AdditionsZa’Darius Smith, EDGEAdrian Amos, SPreston Smith, EDGEBilly Turner, OLRe-signedMarcedes Lewis, TEGeronimo Allison, WR (RFA)Departed in Free Agency/ReleasedClay Matthews, EDGE (Rams)Nick Perry, EDGE (unsigned)Randall Cobb Reggie White Jersey , WR (Cowboys)Bashaud Breeland, CB (Chiefs)Jake Ryan, ILB (Jaguars) Former San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Quinton Dial announced his retirement from the NFL in a post on his instagram account Thursday night.“I want to thank the San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers for the opportunity that you gave a country boy from a small town in Alabama when no one else would. All four will play significant roles in 2019 and moving forward, but until Monday none of these players officially had a jersey number to call their own.Monday has arrived, however, and so have the numbers for these four players. Outside linebacker Za’Darius Smith will wear 55, partly as a tribute to his mentor in Baltimore, Terrell Suggs. Fellow linebacker Preston Smith gets number 91, which belonged to rookie pass-rusher Kendall Donnerson a year ago. (According to the roster on Packers.com, Donnerson will wear Nick Perry’s old number 53 this season.) Smith wore 91 in college at Mississippi State before receiving number 94 in Washington. Meanwhile, safety Adrian Amos will wear number 31, while offensive lineman Billy Turner gets number 77.Here are the official announcements from the Packers on Twitter Jaire Alexander Jersey , which come with some nifty Photoshop work:Za’Darius Smith’s number 55 was most recently worn by offensive lineman Dillon Day during training camp in 2018. Ahmad Brooks wore it in 2017, succeeding Lerentee McCray (2016), Andy Mulumba (2013-15), and Desmond Bishop (2007-12).91 has also belonged to a few pass-rushers in recent memory. Although defensive lineman Quinton Dial wore it in 2017, Jayrone Elliott had it for three years from 2014 to 2016. However, it also belonged to busts like Justin Harrell and Joe Johnson, so hopefully Preston Smith ends up playing more like Brian Noble (1983-93).The number 31 given to Amos has special meaning for older Packers fans, as it belonged to Hall of Fame running back Jim Taylor during the Lombardi era. More recently, Al Harris wore it from 2003 to 2009, and Davon House had it in two stints with the Packers between 2011 and 2018.Finally, Billy Turner’s 77 has a varied past in Green Bay. In the Lombardi days Womens Davon House Jersey , it belonged to starting defensive tackle Ron Kostelnik, However, Tony Mandarich also wore 77 from 1989 to 1991. It got some more positive associations again in the mid-2000s, however, when Cullen Jenkins wore it between 2004 and 2010. Turner did wear number 77 previously in the NFL, suiting up in that number when playing for the Miami Dolphins from 2014 to 2016. The Green Bay Packers might be getting lucky on the injury front, particularly as it relates to the availability of a few of their opponents’ key players this week. While the Packers should be pretty healthy, minus the injury to wide receiver Geronimo Allison, the New England Patriots have already ruled one offensive starter out for Sunday night’s game — right guard Shaq Mason — and are reportedly concerned about whether a few of their game-time decisions can suit up.On Friday, New England ruled a whopping 13 players as Questionable for the game, but the most critical names are the team’s starting tight end and running back: Rob Gronkowski and Sony Michel. Both players are dealing with significant injuries and have missed time this year Brett Favre Jersey White , Michel sitting out last Monday’s win over Buffalo and Gronk sitting out two weeks ago against the Chicago Bears. Now, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the two very well might be unable to suit up this evening:If one or both players cannot play tonight, that should make the job easier for the Packers’ defense and coordinator Mike Pettine. Gronk has not looked like his old self this season as he deals with this back issue, but he remains a huge target who is on pace for 960 receiving yards. Meanwhile, Michel has taken hold of the starting running back job, getting most of the carries and runs between the tackles. The Packers’ safeties might benefit most from a potential Gronkowski absence today, particularly as the team replaces Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, who was traded to Washington on Tuesday. Gronk hurt the Packers with seven catches for 98 yards in the teams’ last meeting in 2014.Keep a close eye on the inactives report, which will come out about 90 minutes prior to kickoff to see if these two players will suit up.

2018 Fantasy Football guide: How to draft Detroit Lions players With Week 1 of the NFL season rapidly approaching Eli Harold Jersey , so too are fantasy football drafts. No matter how well or poorly 2017 went, a new season offers a new chance to construct the perfect roster on the way to a championship run. Instead of focusing on all 32 teams, today’s post takes a look at the skill players in Detroit and which Lions to keep an eye on during fantasy drafts. Fantasy scoring assumes six-point passing touchdowns and a point per reception; average draft position (ADP) comes from fantasypros.com and assumes a 12-team league.QuarterbackMatthew Stafford (Current ADP: QB10)Perhaps no player in fantasy better describes “safe but boring” better than Matthew Stafford. Though Stafford is one of the most exciting quarterbacks on the field, his fantasy performances rarely hit too high or too low. In 2017 he had just one start during the first 16 weeks above 30 points and just one start below 10 points, bringing him to a QB7 finish. The age-old wisdom of drafting a quarterback late remains true, and Stafford is an excellent candidate to snag well after the rest of your league has already reached for a signal caller. With an ADP of 99th, look to take Stafford after filling out your running back and wide receiver positions.Running backKerryon Johnson (Current ADP: RB30)Balancing the hype of a rookie running back and a crowded backfield is one of the toughest challenges in fantasy drafting, and Kerryon Johnson lands right in the middle of these uncertainties. His talent is undeniable, and the fact that he was drafted in the second round is a big plus, but with a new head coach in Detroit, his usage remains a mystery.Though Johnson is primed for a solid career with the Lions, pump the brakes a bit for Year 1. He is a versatile back who may be able to do it all, but he is sharing the backfield with a red zone bruiser and a third-down specialist. He may dominate the touches between the 20s, but his fantasy ceiling does have a limit. Johnson is going as the 30th running back off the board, but this seems five to ten spots too high.LeGarrette Blount (Current ADP: RB47)After a top-10 finish in 2016 with New England, LeGarrette Blount had a much reduced role in Philadelphia last season. His role with the Lions is no less complicated, and his RB45 finish in 2017 seems like a good baseline for his expectations this year. He does have the benefit of being the veteran at the position, but that may only take him so far.The Lions would not have signed Blount if they did not plan on involving him in the offense, but his role could be limited to goal line and short-yardage situations. This may still result in a handful of touchdowns, but it will be a struggle for Blount to ever be startable. He should not come off the board until the last few rounds of the draft.Theo Riddick (Current ADP: RB54)It may be surprising to learn that Theo Riddick ended as RB26 in PPR last season Ricky Wagner Jersey , but this was actually his lowest finish in three seasons. The elite pass-catching back has been a consistent part of the Lions offense, but the addition of Johnson could see his target count take a slight dip in 2018.Riddick is never given proper respect in fantasy drafts, even though he is exactly the type of running back that should fill out the back end of rosters. He is currently being drafted as the 54th running back off the board, but he will finish well ahead of this. Taking Riddick around the 10th or 11th round is a great move to provide some depth at the position.Wide receiverGolden Tate (Current ADP: WR23)Since 2015, Golden Tate has been eerily consistent, averaging 13.2, 13.9 and 14.0 fantasy points per game. There is no reason to think that this will not be the case in 2018, and he should continue to see somewhere between 120 and 130 targets. This is a great situation in PPR, and he can comfortably be drafted as a WR2.There were definitely some down moments for Tate last season, as 40 percent of his games ended with under seven points. Just like everyone else in the offense, there is a hint of uncertainty with a new coaching regime in place, but Tate’s 46th overall ADP seems criminally low.Marvin Jones (Current ADP: WR24)Very rarely can an NFL offense house two top-12 fantasy wide receivers, but the Lions were able to do so in 2017. Both Tate and Marvin Jones were weapons for Stafford and the offense, and differentiating between the two in fantasy is no easy task. Though Tate saw more targets last season, it was Jones who had the higher floor during most weeks.Jones is still a great option in 2018 and should be a borderline WR2, but some regression should be expected. Tate seems to have a slightly safer role, and any player who relies on deep passes and a steep jump in touchdowns is a little risky. Still, Jones is being drafted around 54th overall which is a round later than he should be.Kenny Golladay (Current ADP: WR54)The old adage that it takes wide receivers three years to fully develop may not always be the case, but in fantasy it is better to bet on time when possible. Kenny Golladay had some exciting highlights in 2017, but he ended the season as a non-factor at WR70. With a year under his belt Anthony Zettel Jersey , he should improve on his 48 targets, but there are still plenty of mouths to feed in Detroit.Golladay is still only a dart throw this season, but he is worth a look near the end of the draft. If Tate or Jones happened to suffer from an injury, Golladay would be in prime position to sneak into the WR3 conversation. The risk is low for a player that can be had in double-digit rounds, so keep an eye out for him with one of your last picks.Tight endLuke Willson (Current ADP: TE33)In Seattle, Luke Willson was never much of a fantasy option, but perhaps a fresh start in Detroit could be exactly what he needs. Though he is a step down from Eric Ebron in terms of talent, the former Lion proved that tight ends can be productive under Stafford; Ebron was TE13 in PPR last season.Willson will be competing with a handful of players for targets this season, so temper expectations going into the year. He should only be drafted in the deepest of leagues, but could be a viable free agent addition come injuries and byes. He could end up as a low-end TE2, but this is likely his ceiling.Michael Roberts (Current ADP: TE59)Similar to Golladay, Michael Roberts enters Year 2 with some helpful experience but still has uphill battles to climb. To his benefit, the Lions did not grab any top-tier tight ends in free agency or the draft, but Roberts was a complete non-factor in 2017 with just four total receptions.Roberts is a name to pay attention to throughout the season, but there is no way he should be drafted at all. There are simply too many pass catchers on the Lions roster for him to see any sort of consistent work, and a lack of red zone targets is an absolute deal breaker for tight ends in fantasy. Which prospect do you like better for the Lions?"This week, we inadvertently created a rift among Detroit Lions fans. When the Lions were on the clock in our Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft, Kent Lee Platte selected Mississippi State defensive end Montez Sweat. A few hours later, I was up in SB Nation’s Blogger Mock Draft, and with Sweat still on the board Miles Killebrew Jersey , I selected Florida State defensive end Brian Burns. What followed was a furious debate. A challenge was thrown down, and a cage match between myself and Kent is tentatively scheduled for 2032. But before we throw on our respective spandex unitards, I want to put up a debate to the Detroit Lions fans.Today’s Question of the Day is:Which NFL Draft prospect would you prefer the Lions to draft: Montez Sweat or Brian Burns? My answer: Y’all already know my answer, and you can see some of my explanations here. But to expand on that a bit, I really think Brian Burns may be something special. Every step of the way during his college career, Burns has had to adjust. And every step of the way, he has succeeded. He has put on extra pounds, he has changed defensive schemes, and he has looked amazing at every point in the process. He may need to put on a few more pounds to succeed in the NFL, but he’s already added some weight and it didn’t take anything away from his athleticism. Burns has the most refined pass rush moves, and his consistent improvement throughout college tells me he’ll only get better with great coaching. To be fair, Montez Sweat has put a lot of doubts to bed over the past few months. Some called him stiff or unable to bend, but Sweat’s shocking NFL Combine scores revealed him to be a top athlete in this class. My concern with Sweat is simply that his pass rushing moves do not excite me. He looks underdeveloped there, despite gaudy sack numbers for his past two years. Though he’s a little more reliable as a run defender—and that may be something the Lions value more—I’m just not so sure he’ll be the game-changing playmaker that Burns will be.I like both players, and the Lions would do fine if either end up in a Honolulu Blue uniform, but give me Burns.Your turn.

Bengals only undefeated team in the AFC North after Week 2 The NFL can be a very strange place. Thanks to the only Week 1 head-to-head matchup in the division ending in a tie Color Rush Michael Jordan Jersey , all four AFC North teams were undefeated after Week 1.Three teams would ending up losing in Week 2, giving the Bengals sole possession of first place in the AFC North. That’s right, the Bengals are in first place in the AFC North and both the Steelers and Browns have yet to win a game in 2018.The Thursday night showdown between the Ravens and the Bengals determined the leader of the pack, as the two 1-0 teams faced off at Paul Brown Stadium. The Bengals took care of the Ravens in primetime, putting up 34 points and forcing three turnovers to keep a hold of the division. The Bengals, now 2-0, are the only undefeated team left in the division as the 1-1 Ravens slide into second place.Coming off of a tie, both the Steelers and the Browns lost their subsequent matches, rounding out last place.Browns fall to Saints 21-18The Browns lost a heartbreaker in the Big Easy and are now 0-1-1. After leading for most of the game, the Saints were able to close the game out thanks to four missed kicks from Zane Gonzalez. The Browns kicker missed two field goals and two extra points, including one in the final second of the game. Gonzalez left eight points on the field, so each missed kick cost the Browns some mental resolve. The Browns ended up falling 21-18 to secure a share of last place.Steelers lose to Chiefs 42-37The Steelers overcame a 21-point deficit to leave the field at halftime tied with the Chiefs. But Patrick Mahomes threw six touchdowns for the Chiefs and the Steelers were unable to answer every score. Pittsburgh made a late push to be within five points, but fell short. The Steelers lost to the Chiefs in Pittsburgh for the first time since 1986. The final score of the shootout was 42-37.So after two weeks, the Bengals are in first place. CSTShareTweetShareShare2019 NFL Free Agency: The Texans’ Salary Cap Situation Entering Free AgencyTroy Taormina-USA TODAY SportsWhen you come back to Battle Red Blog next Monday, it will be the start of the NFL’s tampering period. Teams can unofficially sign players before officially signing players during that time. On Monday, we will be talking about the money being tossed around and the moving trucks criss-crossing the country like tennis shoes. In order to set the mood, let’s dim those lights, put on Happiness Hours by the Sidekicks, open up a bag of nuts, and layout the Texans’ financial situation one last time before it gets obliterated next week. First off, the NFL salary cap jumped from $177.2 million to $188.2 million. Hell yeah, that’s another starter’s worth of salary that each team has. Who said the league is on the downturn? The second thing is the Texans have already made two big moves this offseason. They franchise-tagged Jadeveon Clowney for $15.9 million in 2019 and are looking to extend him via a long-term contract this summer.Next Bradley Roby Jersey , Kevin Johnson was released to save a little over $9 million. With the jump in the salary cap and these two moves, Texans Cap has Houston with $72 million in cap room as free agency begins. Finally, the Texans can still create additional space. Whitney Mercilus could be traded or released. Lamar Miller could be released; same goes for Senio Kelemete. I could see one of these three things happening, especially if Houston makes a run at a free agent left guard with the way the free agent tackle market looks, or if Romeo Crennel is adamant that the team sticks with a 4-3 that features J.J. Watt and Clowney as defensive ends. Regardless, the key thing is that free agency starts on Monday. The Texans have $72 million to spend to improve their roster for the 2019 season. Everyone agrees that Deshaun Watson took far too many hits last week against the Dallas Cowboys. That doesn't mean Houston's quarterback is going to change the way he plays on Sunday when the Texans (2-3) host the Buffalo Bills (2-3).Many of those hits against Dallas came on runs when he simply refused to slide, something that he won't apologize for."If you put (me in) that same situation in overtime and it's fourth-and-1 and we need a touchdown and the ball is in my hands, you're going to want me to get in that end zone," Watson said. "It's a fine line. You've got to pick your spots and pick your situations."Coach Bill O'Brien doesn't blame his young quarterback for trying to make plays Tashaun Gipson Jersey , but is looking for ways to limit how many blows he takes. Many running quarterbacks have had their production 鈥?and careers 鈥?curtailed by getting hit too hard too often."Two of the plays where he took a hit where he was trying to score touchdowns," O'Brien said. "So, very competitive guy and does a great job of moving. Sometimes the ball can come out a little bit quicker, sometimes the play can be better, but we're all working hard to improve every area of the offense."The repeated hits from the Cowboys left Watson a bit banged-up this week, but he insisted that he's fine and won't be limited against Buffalo. He was asked if this was the sorest he's ever been after a game."I've been sore plenty of times," he said. "It's part of the game, able to take some shots and just regroup and keep moving forward."Buffalo coach Sean McDermott said he spent some time with Watson before he was drafted last year and raved about him as a person and a player. He knows a key for his team Sunday will be finding a way to limit his dynamic plays."He's a headache ... the way he plays, he makes plays with his arm Zach Fulton Jersey , he makes plays with his feet," McDermott said. "I've got a lot of respect for him."Some things to know about Buffalo's trip to Houston on Sunday:RUNNING GAME FOCUSAs the Bills try to bring rookie quarterback Josh Allen along, McDermott knows that improving his team's running game will help the process."To me, they go hand in hand when you're trying to be responsible with a young player, a young quarterback in particular, that some form of balance is important," he said. The Bills have struggled on offense so far and their 221.2 yards a game rank 31st. They're averaging 121.8 yards passing a game, the lowest output in the league. Despite those numbers, McDermott is careful not to put too much pressure on Allen to turn things around by himself."I've been around young quarterbacks before Nick Martin Jersey , and to put too much on young quarterbacks' shoulders... (and say): 'Hey go out there and win the game.' That's a little bit unrealistic," McDermott said. "So, we've got to make sure we put a good plan in place every week that gives us a chance to win and the quarterback a chance to develop, and also keep the quarterback upright as well."SACK RACEHouston defensive end J.J. Watt looks to have put the last two injury-filled seasons behind him and is tied for first in the NFL with six sacks this year. Watt is tied with Cincinnati's Geno Atkins and his young brother, Pittsburgh's T.J. Watt."It's pretty wild when you go and you look at the sack sheet and you see our names next to each other," Watt said. "We used to beat up on each other in backyard and now we get to see our names at the top of the NFL sack charts. So, it's incredible and I'm lucky."COMING ALONGThe Texans have been impressed with the development of rookie WR Keke Coutee, who has played the last two games after sitting out the first three weeks with a hamstring injury. The fourth-round pick has 17 receptions for 160 yards and scored his first touchdown in Sunday's overtime win against the Dallas Cowboys."He has great instincts, great ability to make plays on the ball Cullen Gillaspia Houston Texans Jersey , strong hands and he's just a guy with a high football IQ," Watson said. "So, whenever I see him one on one or in the zone coverage, get the ball in his area just like Hop (DeAndre Hopkins) and all of the other receivers and he's going to make the play."AP Sports Writer John Wawrow contributed to this report.

Today, we reveal players 30 through 27, a group including three defensive backs vying for significant roles in the defense.30: Jason Spriggs, OLLess than three years ago, the Packers had yet to sign David Bakhtiari to the extension that solidified him as Aaron Rodgers’ long-term left tackle and the team needed a backup plan in the event his contract demands grew too expensive. With that in mind, former general manager Ted Thompson traded up in the second round to secure Jason Spriggs, a hulking, athletic offensive lineman out of Indiana.Though Green Bay has largely hit on their offensive linemen Lance Kendricks Jersey , Spriggs proved to be an exception. He struggled with pass protection and injuries since entering the league, limiting him to mere swing-tackle duties. In 2018, only two of the Packers’ offensive linemen registered worse pressure rates than Spriggs’ 6.4 percent: Justin McCray (6.7) and that drafted him just months earlier. Though Brown possessed impressive athletic tools and came from the highly successful Nick Saban football machine at Alabama, he seemed one mistake away from falling out with his second NFL team in less than a year.Brown could have just faded to the back of the roster. Instead, he found regular work on special teams and as a reserve cornerback as the year unfolded. During a stretch between Weeks 4 and 11, he gave the Packers defense some of its best pass coverage, limiting opposing passers to just 78 yards, four first downs, and zero touchdowns Jake Ryan Jersey White , good for a combined passer rating of 84.7. His performance dropped off soon after along with the rest of the defense, but his upside remains intriguing.28: Josh Jackson, CBThe second of the two cornerbacks the Packers selected at the top of the 2018 NFL Draft, Josh Jackson showed signs of promise early in his rookie season. However, opposing teams soon learned that they could pick on him in man coverage, leading to a barrage of defensive penalties that sent Jackson to the bench. While the setbacks of the 2018 season raise some concerns, Jackson likely always needed a year to adjust to the more man-heavy coverages of the NFL. And while he’ll need to show improvement in that area, Jackson offers the top-shelf play-making skills that made him an All-American at Iowa. With a strong training camp and preseason, Jackson could earn a starting role in the secondary Womens Marwin Evans Jersey , whether as one of the top two corners or as a de facto starter in the Packers’ nickel and sub packages.27: Tramon Williams, CBTramon Williams spent most of his first season back with the Packers playing at safety, a situation that unfolded after the team traded Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to Washington. Williams played admirably considering his limited experience at the position, but he remains a better fit at cornerback.Green Bay appears to feel the same way, and after adding Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage this offseason, Williams will shift back to his more familiar role at corner. That doesn’t necessarily mean he will start again in 2019; the aforementioned Jackson and third-year defensive back Kevin King will also compete for snaps next to No. 1 corner Jaire Alexander. Further, if injuries or poor play limit the play at safety, Williams could find himself shifting back into that role. Regardless, the Packers value Williams’ versatility as they continue to rebuild their secondary. Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley Justin Vogel Jersey White , both of whom caught many passes from Aaron Rodgers and shared a huddle and a locker room with him, recently criticized the Packers quarterback. Another former receiver, Jordy Nelson, has come to Rodgers’ defense.A current Packers receiver, Davante Adams, had his say Wednesday.“I feel like I have made it pretty evident about how I feel about it already,” Adams said, via video from Stacey Dales of NFL Media. “It’s something that I’m really trying to put in the past at this point because it’s nothing even to continue to drag on. I think you’ve heard from all the people who are relevant at this point and actually matter, which are the people who played with him and played with him recently and had those good relationships with him. I think that it’s been pretty uniform as far as we feel about him — a great leader. All the negative things I’ve heard Womens Muhammad Wilkerson Jersey , I share none of those feelings with those guys. Nobody reached out to me. Nobody reached out to James Jones. Nobody reached out to Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, any of these guys who obviously had a good relationship with him. I think if those people were interviewed about him the story would been a lot different.”No one outside the locker room has put the controversy and criticism involving Rodgers and the Packers to rest yet. But if those in the locker room have and Rodgers returns to being Rodgers and the Packers return to winning, then it quickly will go away once the season starts.

His size and athleticism fit defensive coordinator Mike Pettine’s preferences, and his production at Florida suggest a high ceiling worthy of first-round consideration. A solid showing at the upcoming NFL Scouting Combine would solidify his status as one of the top defensive prospects on the board. In earlier versions of SB Nation’s mock draft, Montez Sweat actually went to Green Bay at No. 12. The Packers have previously double dipped at one position early in the draft, most recently selecting Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson with back-to-back picks in 2018. Ole Miss offensive tackle Greg Little traveled to Wisconsin Sunday for an official pre-draft meeting with the team, according to a post on his Instagram. Packers Wire’s Zach Kruse first reported the development.A 6-foot-5, 310-pound offensive lineman, Little entered the draft process as one of the top prospects at his position. He served as Ole Miss’ starting left tackle for the past three seasons Jace Sternberger Green Bay Packer , earning two All-SEC nods along the way. In addition to Little’s massive frame, he possesses 35.5-inch arms and 10.25-inch hands, both ideal sizes for an NFL offensive tackle. However, Little’s performance at the NFL Scouting Combine fell somewhat short of expectation. He produced subpar scores in the 40-yard dash (5.33 seconds) Jace Sternberger Jersey 2019 , the jumps (113-inch broad, 25-inch vertical), and short shuttle (4.74 seconds), leaving talent evaluators to question his athleticism. Those concerns could push Little outside the first round and into Day 2 of April’s draft.Still Color Rush Jace Sternberger Jersey , with the Packers felt it pertinent to meet with Little and determine whether he can thrive in Matt LaFleur’s offense. Starting right tackle Bryan Bulaga will hit free agency next offseason, and his age and health could deter the team from re-signing him. If so, perhaps Little could step in and become a long-term fixture opposite All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari.NFL teams have 30 pre-draft visits they can use on rookie prospects.

Ravens first-round pick Lamar Jackson made his first NFL start at quarterback on Sunday and posted 117 rushing yards on the way to a much-needed 24-21 win over the Bengals. That made him the first quarterback to run for at least 100 yards in a game since Colin Kaepernick in 2016 and it’s also a single-game rushing record for a Ravens quarterback. His 27 rushing attempts are the sixth-most by any player and the most by a quarterback since at least 1999.Jackson added 150 passing yards Youth Rodney Anderson Jersey , which left him responsible for two-thirds of the team’s offensive production in the victory. After the game, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Jackson was “spectacular” and praised him for playing “winning football” in his first start. He did not say if Jackson would start again against the Raiders in Week 12, but did say it would be “tough” for Joe Flacco to recover from his hip injury in time to play. That points to another outing for the rookie and another glimpse at Baltimore’s offensive future. Former Michigan defensive lineman Rashan Gary is making his way through a good number of the league’s 32 teams on his pre-draft visits.Gary said last month that the Raiders, 49ers White Rodney Anderson Jersey , Jets, Giants and Bengals were on his list of visits and he updated his itinerary during an appearance on this week. That list includes Friday’s local pro day for the Lions and several others.“I just got back from seeing the Jaguars,” Gary said. “Next visit is gonna be to the Raiders. I gotta see Seattle, Bengals http://www.cincinnatibengalsteamonline.com/anthony-munoz-jersey , Bills, Detroit. I have a couple more teams too.”Gary called it a “blessing” to sit down and meet with teams to discuss his football career. That includes questions about why his numbers for the Wolverines weren’t gaudier.“Most of the teams understand me as a player, but it is the question, and they just wanna know why Germaine Pratt Cincinnati Bengals Jersey ,” Gary said. “The three years I was at Michigan, we had the No. 1 defense two years in a row. You don’t have that if you don’t have people playing their responsibilities or playing football how they’re supposed to play football. That’s how I answer that question. At the end of the day, the film is gonna speak for itself.”The general feeling is that Gary’s film and potential will make him a first-round pick, although opinions vary about just where he will wind up coming off the board.: Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports the Colts are also visiting with Gary.

After drafting two defensive players on day one of the 2019 NFL Draft and landing an offensive linemen in Elgton Jenkins in round two Marquez Valdes-Scantling Jersey , the Packers have selected Jace Sternberger from Texas A&M in round three with the 75th overall selection.Sternberger took an official visit to Green Bay this spring, so he has been on their radar. He was one of the most productive receiving tight ends in college football in 2018, racking up over 800 yards and ten touchdowns through the air. 2018 was Sternberger’s only season in College Station, as he started his college career at Kansas and transferred after two years there. The 6-foot-4 JK Scott Jersey , 251-pound Sternberger ran a 4.75-second 40-yard dash at the 2019 NFL Combine in Indianapolis this year, a solid if unspectacular time that appears slower than he plays on tape. Questions exist regarding his ability as a blocker, but a Matt LaFleur-led offense will require him to develop that part of his game in the NFL to become Here’s more on that from SB Nation’s Christian D’Andrea:With Jimmy Graham and Marcedes Lewis in Green Bay for 2019, Sternberger will be able to work his way into the lineup gradually before being expected to take over as the starting tight end in 2020. However Kevin King Jersey , he provides a quality receiving threat from the tight end position who can contribute on day one. We’re almost to the end of the 2018 season. Just one game remains for the Green Bay Packers this year, and that contest begins now. It’s the Packers at 6-8-1 and the Detroit Lions at 5-10 squaring off today at Lambeau Field as both teams’ seasons will come to a close. A few records are within reach for Packers players today, starting with wide receiver Davante Adams. He needs two receptions and 134 yards to set the Packers single-season records for catches and receiving yards, respectively. Meanwhile Josh Jones Jersey , 227 yards is all Aaron Rodgers needs to set a career high in passing yards in a single season. The two teams met earlier this season, with Detroit earning a victory at Ford Field. Green Bay gained a whopping 521 yards of offense in that contest, but three turnovers and four missed field goals by Mason Crosby doomed them in a 31-23 loss.Tune in and join us here for the first half of today’s game.Game Updates from APC StaffA Twitter List by acmepackingco Game Updates from Packers MediaA Twitter List by TexWestern

Come chat as the 2nd and 3rd round of the 2019 NFL Draft begins."Day 2 of the NFL Draft is here http://www.lionslockerroom.com/authentic-dwayne-washington-jersey , and some say this is where general managers prove their worth. This is the day in which teams are still expected to get solid contributors, but the cream of the crop has already been selected in the first round. If you believe Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn, this year’s draft class is especially strong in this portion of the draft. “The depth in this draft is really—from the late first to the third—there’s a lot of really good players in there,” Quinn said on Ian Rapoport’s podcast a few weeks ago.As of now, the Lions have two selections on Day 2: the 11th pick in the second round (43) and picks 25 in the third round (88). However, with six picks on the final day, it’s certainly possible we see some movement from the Lions today. In the past two years Womens Tracy Walker Jersey , the Lions have moved around on Day 2 of the draft, so expect anything. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsIn terms of starting jobs, the Detroit Lions don’t have a ton up for grabs this season. General manager Bob Quinn has done a formidable job this offseason making sure that every position has a clear and—at the very least—adequate starter. One of the few exceptions to that is the situation at right guard. After making the difficult decision to cut Pro Bowl guard T.J. Lang Womens Da'Shawn Hand Jersey , Quinn hasn’t made a definitive move to find a starter there. Oday Aboushi, mostly a backup for his entire career, may be considered the favorite. Kenny Wiggins, last year’s backup, has a pretty good shot at the job as well. There are a few underdogs in competition for the position, as well. Last year’s fifth-round pick Tyrell Crosby could potentially make the move inside, and undrafted rookie Beau Benzschawel likely signed with the Lions simply for the opportunity to compete for that job.So today’s Question of the Day is:Which Lions player should start at right guard in 2019? My answer: If I had to pick right now Graham Glasgow Jersey White , I’d probably choose Aboushi and simply for one reason: He has experience with offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. Bevell must have liked something he saw in their one year of overlap in Seattle otherwise there’d be little reason to bring Aboushi in. That being said, it would be ideal if someone like Benzschawel impressed so much during minicamp and training camp that he won over the job, but I’m not exactly banking on that from an undrafted rookie. Your turn.

The good Jake Fisher Jersey White , the bad and the ugly from the Bengals’ win over the Colts What a way for the Cincinnati Bengals to start their 2018 season. A year removed from one of their worst season-opening performances in team history, this year’s squad gave us one of the most electric results in recent memory. Even with an 11-point win on the road, as well as overcoming a 13-point second-half deficit, things weren’t all rosy in the Cincinnati’s victory. Here are the best and worst from the team’s 34-23 win over the Colts in the season-opener. The good:Joe Mixon: Though he had a bigger number of scrimmage yards in a game last year, it’s hard not to call Mixon’s performance against the Colts as his best as a pro. Perhaps that’s in the facet of overall consistency. He was a dual-threat on Sunday, giving Indianapolis’ defense fits. He finished with 17 carries for 95 yards (5.6 average) and a touchdown, along with five catches for 54 yards. Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap: The Bengals used a lot of rotations up front, but it was their two stars on the defensive line that provided the biggest boosts. Atkins was a major factor in holding the Colts to just 3.4 yards per carry on the ground and had a sack of Andrew Luck. Meanwhile, it was a roller coaster of a day for Dunlap, who ended up getting riled up after a certain questionable penalty was called against him. He used that anger towards team production, ending with a sack, a defended pass and two total tackles. P.S. — Get used to being frustrated in watching pro football this year, as this is now a penalty in today’s NFL:Special teams: Randy Bullock hasn’t been fully embraced by the fan base, but after a solid 2017 campaign, statistically-speaking, he started 2018 on a similar note. He finished 4-of-4 on extra points and 2-of-2 on field goals, with a massive one in the fourth quarter. Kevin Huber also had a nice day, with two punts averaging 50 yards per kick, while Alex Erickson also had a nice 28-yard kick return. Coming back from a large second half deficit: For about two and a half quarters, this had all of the style of a 2017 disappointment. Yet, inexplicably, the team metaphorically tightened their laces and got to work. The “changes” we have heard so much about this offseason began to take shape. Big plays in the passing game, improvements in the rushing offense and creating turnovers on defense were all part of a 24-point second half by the Bengals. Preston Brown and Nick Vigil: Unfortunately, Brown’s day was cut short with an injury, but he was active. Yes, he allowed a couple of frustrating underneath completions, but he had a gigantic first quarter interception to go along with five total tackles. Vigil may have had his coming out party against the Colts. He led the team in tackles with 11, with a couple of them going for a loss.Cordy Glenn: When you don’t hear an offensive lineman’s name very often during a game Jeff Driskel Jersey , that’s often a good thing. Glenn wasn’t highlighted very much by the announcers, but held his own in pass protection. The big man also aided greatly in the run game. Check out Joe Mixon’s gains versus the Colts and how able the left side was at springing big plays. Yes, Billy Price and Alex Redmond had some nice pull blocks on a couple of occasions, but Glenn was a force on the left side. The bad:Scheme and execution with Giovani Bernard: For all of the success Mixon had on Sunday, Bernard had just as many struggles. We’re not sure if it’s because of the styles of the respective runners, but the Bengals’ line will need to adjust to No. 25. Bernard struggled to find any room at all, running once for minus-two yards and grabbing one reception for 11 yards. It will get better for Bernard going forward, we presume, but not a great output in packages designed for the versatile back in Week 1. The right side of the offensive line: Even though the line showed improvement overall, Redmond and Bobby Hart struggled on Sunday. Hart got manhandled by former Bengals’ defensive end, Margus Hunt, as he racked up two sacks on Sunday (he had just 1.5 in four seasons with the Bengals). As seen above in the tweet from Adam Spinks, they were able in the run game, but not necessarily the strong points. Both Redmond and Hart had penalties called against them as well. Disparity of total plays: In some ways, it’s a miracle that the Bengals left Lucas Oil Stadium victorious. One of the ominous stat lines was in the amount of offensive plays called by each team. Indianapolis ran 77 plays to the Bengals’ 50, which is startling. However, it was in the Bengals’ ability to get big plays on offense and defense that got them the win. After all, even though the Colts ran 27 more plays, they only had 50 more total yards (380 to 330).The ugly:Inability to cover tight ends...still: Luck attempted to kill the Bengals in a death by a thousand paper-cuts, given the dink-and-dunk nature of the Colts offense. The tight ends feasted on the Bengals’ defense, which has been a bug-a-boo for this team for a long time. Jack Doyle had seven catches for 60 yards, while Eric Ebron had for grabs for 51 yards and a score. Even on the big play by Fejedelem, Doyle was set to convert a massive 15-yard third down. Teryl Austin needs to fix this in a hurry, as the tight end-heavy Ravens come to town on Thursday. A near-loss from high-completion plays: To piggy-back on the previous point, Luck was all but poised to write a great NFL headline via high-percentage passes. In his first game back in over a year, Luck threw 53 passes, but completed them at a staggering 74% rate (39 completions). Again, Austin needs to get to work here. Teams will undoubtedly use this method until the Bengals’ defense shows it can regularly clamp up on a variety of plays. Four dropped interception opportunities: Austin has preached the need for game-changing plays and the Bengals had their chances on a number of occasions on Sunday. Whether it was because of rusty throws from Luck http://www.thebengalslockerroom.com/authentic-clint-boling-jersey , or being in the right place at the right time, Cincinnati’s defense didn’t make some of the plays they needed to. Dre Kirkpatrick let two interception opportunities go through his hands, while Vigil dropped a difficult one as well. And, despite Dunlap’s great afternoon, he did have one that hit him in the throat in the fourth quarter. Imagine if Cincinnati had just one of these potential turnovers.Bengals Week 4 rookie report: Mark Walton finds himself on the scoresheet While it wasn’t scorigami, the Bengals 37-36 win over the Falcons on Sunday was just the third time in NFL history a game ended with that score. It’s fitting that the final score wasn’t as rare as the fashion of how the Bengals won this game. The Bengals went score for score against a high-octane offense in their own stadium, and won on the final drive of the game where they converted two fourth downs. Amidst all the excitement were the five rookies that dressed and played, but only a few truly made an impact in the high-scoring contest.Jessie BatesThrough the first quarter of the season, one of Bates’ biggest perceived weaknesses has shown to be the exact opposite. He finished second to linebacker Nick Vigil in solo tackles with seven and had no missed tackles to his name. With context, none of these tackles were stops as they all occurred past the line to gain, but he ended the contest with no tackles missed, and only has one instance of that all month.Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan torched everyone in the secondary, so while it’s true that the rookie free safety didn’t make much of an impact in pass coverage, no one else did either. The whole system looked flappable against the Falcons high-powered aerial attack, and Bates was just bit too slow to react playing centerfield, though again, there wasn’t much he could do against a nearly flawless game plan from the opposition. The expectations bestowed upon Bates were high entering this season and it’s fair to see he’s on track for meeting them. He’s not exactly been what Derwin James has been for the Chargers, but they’re playing vastly different roles. Bates has held his own and has been anything but a liability. The secondary as a unit may need a re-evaluation following this narrow win, but Bates is on the right path.Sam HubbardWith only three defensive tackles active for the game, and one of them being Josh Tupou, Hubbard was forced onto the field early in the rotation on the interior even on base downs. With defensive end Michael Johnson back, Hubbard actually played more inside than he did on the edge.As a result, Hubbard struggled on and off when dealing with down blocks in run defense, and made minimal impact as a pass rusher. Aside from his active game against Baltimore in Week 2, Hubbard’s splash plays have been far and few between. Hopefully the team has newly acquired Adolphus Washington activated next week so Hubbard can keep to the edge in run defense, because he is a fine edge-setter. However, we need to see a jump in pass rushing efficiency on third down from the rookie when he’s at his under tackle alignment.Malik JeffersonDuring last week’s Orange and Black Insider, we discussed the possibility of Jefferson getting integrated in the defense for this week. With MIKE linebacker Preston Brown back on the field Alex Erickson Jersey , Jefferson was once again regulated to just special teams while the five other active linebackers all saw time on the field for the defense (including Vincent Rey’s one snap). As we all know, WILL linebacker Vontaze Burfict is set to return to the team this week as his four-game suspension has ended. Burfict will likely just replace tight end Tyler Eifert on the roster when the team puts Eifert on the injured reserve list for his season-ending ankle injury, so all linebackers, including Jefferson, should remain on the roster. Burfict’s return can’t diminish Jefferson’s current role because he’s just a special teamer, but unless a situation like last year happens where a multitude of injuries at the linebacker position pile up, Jefferson isn’t seeing the field on defense anytime soon. Mark WaltonThe Bengals once again had just Walton available behind Giovani Bernard at running back for the second week in a row with Joe Mixon sidelined with his knee injury. Unlike last week though, Walton actually had some touches to write home about in his time on the field. He finished with just nine rushing yards on five carries, and 28 receiving yards on two receptions. Most of those yards came on this impressive catch and run. The blocking for Walton up front mirrored that of the preseason when he averaged less than one yard per carry, but with how Bernard was running the ball, his production on the ground was marginal. The real bad news for Walton was him being evaluated for a concussion after he took a head-to-head hit late in the third quarter, which was called for unnecessary roughness on Atlanta. The collision put Walton into the concussion protocol and out of action for a bit, forcing Bernard to take more snaps than planned.Fortunately, Walton soon returned and partook in the final two offensive drives that resulted in 9 points. Whether his evaluation for a concussion was just precautionary or not, the last thing the Bengals needed was another injury at the running back position. Next week’s game against the Dolphins could very well be when Mixon returns to the field, which would diminish Walton’s opportunities going forward. The offense will be better for it, and now Walton has some experience to build off of. Darius PhillipsLost in the madness that was Sunday’s game was cornerback William Jackson leaving the game temporarily for an injury right before the end of the third quarter. This shifted slot cornerback Darqueze Dennard to Jackson’s spot on the outside, and inserted Tony McRae into Dennard’s spot inside. It was the third game this season McRae played on defense, and Phillips has yet to see anything beyond special teams. He only took six snaps on special teams, and saw Alex Erickson take all the reps at both kickoff and punt returner. He did make a touchdown-saving tackle on his first special teams snap, and tackled Atlanta’s kickoff return man Marvin Hall at midfield before he could run back the opening kickoff for six points.Did not playBilly PriceAuden TateBates and Hubbard are not amongst the liabilities that have contributed to one of the worst scoring defenses in the league. Their play through the first four games has been about as good as we could expect from them playing significant snaps in their first handful of games. And just adding Jefferson to the mix won’t make much of a difference like adding Burfict back will.As of now, we don’t know if next Sunday will be the game Price returns, but we should probably expect him to takeover for Trey Hopkins at center. While it may yield better results if Price were to just replace Alex Redmond at right guard, that would be uncharacteristic of the team to do, especially when they declared they were focused on Price at center only right after they drafted him. But the Bengals winning a game like this one is also pretty abnormal. We’ll just have to wait and see what else they may surprise us with.

Barring ties in Week 17 — and there are some wild scenarios should certain games end in draws Sunday — the road to the playoffs is quite straight in the NFC. The path to a first-round bye in the AFC has a bunch of curves in it.Already in are NFC division winners Dallas (East) http://www.thetexanslockerroom.com/authentic-jon-weeks-jersey , New Orleans (South), Chicago (North) and the Los Angeles Rams (West). AFC divisions clinched belong to New England in the East and, well, nobody else. But there are clear leaders .Seattle owns an NFC wild card, and the LA Chargers have one in the AFC, though they can still win the AFC West.“You either believe in something or you don’t,” says coach Pete Carroll, whose 9-6 Seahawks made the postseason in what was considered a rebuilding year. “I think just staying the course and knowing we’re on to something. Believing in the history. We know what we’re capable of doing. We’ve shown it over a lot of years. You’re always adapting, but it’s staying what you’re true to. I think that’s what is happening. We look like a team that we have seen before, and that’s powerful.”Most powerful so far has been New Orleans, with the league’s best record at 13-2 Womens Jordan Akins Jersey , and a dynamic offense led by Drew Brees. The Saints have home-field advantage throughout the conference playoffs. The Rams (12-3) get the other opening-round bye if they beat San Francisco on Sunday. If they lose and the Bears win at Minnesota, Chicago (11-4) earns the week off and Los Angeles drops to the third seed.A Bears win also could keep the Vikings (8-6-1) out of the postseason, providing defending champion Philadelphia (8-7) wins at Washington. Only the Vikings or Eagles can get the second NFC wild card.“We’ve got to empty the bucket, and that’s the way we’ve got to play next week at home,” Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph says. “I’m really looking forward to that environment.”In the AFC, seeding is more muddled. Any of four teams could be the top or second seed. The simplest route is if Kansas City (11-4) and New England (10-5), currently the top two in the conference, both win Sunday. But if the Chiefs lose at home to Oakland and the Chargers (11-4) win at Denver, Los Angeles moves into the top spot.Houston (10-5) also could wind up No. 1 in the AFC with losses by the Chiefs, Patriots against the Jets, and Chargers. New England Justin Reid Jersey , the only unbeaten team at home this year, would get the first seed with a victory and losses by the Chiefs and Chargers. And get this: Houston doesn’t even own a division title. If the Texans fall at home to Jacksonville, the winner of the Colts at Titans game in Tennessee takes the AFC South, and the Texans become a wild card, joining either the Chiefs or Chargers.Texans coach Bill O’Brien, whose club began the season 0-3, is intrigued by the division being so ensconced in the playoff picture this year.“I think that’s an interesting question because I can remember the question was, two years ago, ‘Why is the AFC South so bad?'” he says. “Now, ‘Why is it so good?’“…I’ve never thought it was bad. I think every year it’s been extremely difficult to win games in the division. I just think there’s a lot of great coaches. You’ve got Frank (Reich) in Indy, Mike (Vrabel) in Tennessee Johnathan Joseph Jersey White , Doug (Marrone) in Jacksonville. You’ve got a lot of great players, quarterbacks, so you’ve got a tough division.”The AFC division often looked at as the toughest has been the North, which, not surprisingly, has come down to Baltimore vs. Pittsburgh. Except the Ravens (9-6) host the Browns, while the Steelers (8-6-1) must beat visiting Cincinnati and hope their archenemies from Cleveland sidetrack Baltimore, either beating or tying the Ravens.Neither the Ravens nor the Steelers can be a wild card — except if Pittsburgh ties the Bengals, then Indianapolis and Tennessee also tie. Then the Steelers are in.Of course, Pittsburgh also can win the North with a draw and a loss by Baltimore.Your head spinning yet? The Texans won the AFC South last season and the Colts advanced to the playoffs after beating the Titans in the final game of the regular season. In 2017, roles were reversed as the Jaguars won the division and the Titans took a Wild Card spot. Both of those teams won games in the playoffs and the Colts did the same last year Womens Lamar Miller Jersey , so there have been several sips of success around the AFC South the last two years. The Jags stumbled last season, but signed quarterback Nick Foles as a free agent in a move that led Colts head coach Frank Reich to say the division now has “four good quarterbacks.”“The job Mike [Vrabel] is doing in Tennessee with that team and us coming down to the last game of the season last year. it really was like a playoff game between our two teams,” Reich said, via UPI.com. “And Jacksonville the year before, having the success they had. The division is definitely playing really tough right now.”None of the AFC South teams will face each other in Week One this September, but Week Two will have the Colts visiting the Titans while the Jaguars head to Houston for the first stage in sorting out which teams will be heading to the postseason this year.

On Thursday, we have news of two new visitors: Arkansas pass-rusher Randy Ramsey and Texas tight end Andrew Beck.News about Ramsey comes from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The somewhat undersized Ramsey played linebacker, defensive end, and even some defensive tackle for the Razorbacks despite a 6-foot-3, 238-pound frame. He recorded three sacks in each of his final two seasons, while accumulating 8.5 total in his career to go with five forced fumbles. Arkansas had its Pro Day on March 11th, but Ramsey’s results are not readily available. He seemingly projects as a 3-4 outside linebacker in the NFL, though the Packers have taken some players with similar builds and backgrounds to Ramsey and moved them off the ball in the past.Beck, whose visit was reported by Aaron Wilson, is an athletic tight end prospect who was lightly used in the passing game by the Longhorns. He started every game in 2018 as a senior Womens Za'Darius Smith Jersey , catching 28 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns. However, his Pro Day testing appeared to be impressive, as reported by SB Nation’s Texas blog, Burnt Orange Nation: In addition, Beck has a great story off the field, visiting hospital patients before this year’s Sugar Bowl and communicating with them in sign language. As the 2019 Draft heads into its late stages on Saturday, April 27th, keep these two names in mind for the Packers, who currently hold six picks on the final day. Lang after his contract with the Green Bay Packers expired. The Lions appear on the verge of pulling off a similar maneuver for another former member of the Packers. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Detroit and Mike Daniels are finalizing a contract mere days after Green Bay released the veteran defensive tackle. In Detroit, Daniels joins a defensive line that features All-Pro nose tackle Damon Harrison, big-money free agent Trey Flowers, and Alabama Crimson Tide products A’Shawn Robinson and Da’Shawn Hand. As part of an overhaul of the defense, the Lions also added slot cornerback Justin Coleman in free agency as well as linebacker Jahlani Tavai and defensive back Will Harris on Day 2 of 2019 NFL Draft.Daniels became a surprise cut this past Wednesday after the Packers reportedly attempted to trade him earlier in the offseason. Whether for cost reasons, injury concerns, a combination of the two Za'Darius Smith Jersey , or other reasons entirely, the team couldn’t locate a trade partner. With free-agent additions Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith likely to cut into Daniels’ workload along the defensive interior and Daniels coming off a season in which he lost six games to injury, Green Bay determined that it made more sense to move on from the former Pro Bowl defensive lineman and save over $8.3 million.Since entering the NFL as a fourth-round pick in 2012, Daniels has totaled 236 tackles (47 for loss), 68 quarterback hits, 29 sacks, and an interception. He also returned a fumble 43 yards for a touchdown during his rookie season.
