Coming off a hard-fought victory over the Kansas City

Chiefs http://www.thepatriotsfootballauthentic.com/shaq-mason-jersey-authentic , the New England Patriots need a quick turnaround as another big challenge awaits: the NFC North-leading Chicago Bears, who not only bring a 3-2 record to the table but also own top-10 units on both sides of the football. Safe to say, that this will be an interesting road contest for the Patriots.Let’s analyze it by taking a look at some of the advanced stats heading into the game (courtesy of SB Nation’s Bill Connelly; for his methodology please click here).Patriots offense vs Bears defenseNormal down and distance in the open fieldThe Patriots offense continues to improve its open field statistics and despite a bad start to the year, now ranks among the top-10 in three of the categories. On Sunday, though, a big challenge awaits in a Bears defense that has found plenty of success between its own 10 and the opposing 30: New England and Chicago are matched up evenly from a statistic perspective. That being said, the Patriots’ numbers over the last three games look much improved when compared to their first three – so one could give the edge to Tom Brady and company.Backed Up Situations Near the Goal LineNew England’s success rate while being backed up inside its own 10-yard line continues to be rather average with an interception in week one still hurting the turnover rate. The Bears, on the other hand, have also not been world beaters when having their opponent pinned deep in its own territory.Red ZoneThe Patriots continue to be one of the NFL’s better red zone teams, even though their success inside the 10-yard line has taken a slight hit when compared to last week’s advanced stats. This week, New England’s offense will face a defense that ranks well in exactly that part of the field – so now would be the right time to show some improvements from the Patriots’ perspective. Maybe Rob Gronkowski, who has only received one target inside the opponent’s 20-yard line, will help.Third DownsWhile their third-and-medium success rate is below average, the Patriots have one of the best overall third down offenses in football. Being able to extend drives has been a key for the team as of late – just watch the last two drives against Kansas City – and it will now try to do the same versus a defense that has been quite productive in this area as well. Talk about a classic battle of strength versus strength.Blitz SituationsNew England’s offense and Chicago’s defense are both faring relatively well in blitz situations – obvious passing downs specified as first-and-18 or more, second-and-14 or more, and third-and-3 or more – with the noticeable outlier being big plays: the Patriots have failed to produce them when playing behind the sticks, while the Bears have failed to stop them in the same kind of situations.Patriots defense vs Bears offenseNormal down and distance in the open fieldNew England’s defensive inconsistency is reflected in the open field statistics. Luckily Womens Cordarrelle Patterson Jersey , it still matches up well against second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky and the Bears. The only stat clearly working in the home team’s favor is third down success rate: New England has struggled getting off the field on third downs between their own 30 and the opponent’s 10, while the Bears have had no issues converting in such situations.Backed Up Situations Near the Goal LineNew England’s defense and Chicago’s offense match up rather evenly when it comes to backed-up situations: both teams have had some success in this area of the field – inside the offense’s own 10-yard line – which could make for an interesting battle if situations like these come along.Red ZoneThe Patriots like to use a bend-don’t-break approach when it comes to defense, which is built on strong red zone performances. This year, however, the team has had its fair share of struggles in this part of the field – although it has shown some improvement last week against the Chiefs. Now, the unit will face another one of the NFL’s better red zone offenses and being up to the task once again will be one of the keys to the game.Third DownsWhile the red area statistics clearly favor Chicago, the two teams are matched up rather evenly when it comes to third down situations: both units have their ups and downs depending on the situation. One would clearly favor the Bears, though: third-and-short. New England has been atrocious in stopping opponents with less than one yard to go.Blitz SituationsEven though the Bears have an explosive set of offensive weapons in Taylor Gabriel, Allen Robinson II and Tarik Cohen, the team has struggled when playing from behind the sticks. Getting Chicago in such situations would be big for the Patriots therefore, despite them having their own problems as well. However, this matchup still favors New England from a statistical perspective. If the advanced statistics are an indication, the Patriots and Bears are in for what could be a close game of strength versus strength (New England’s offense versus Chicago’s defense), and weakness versus weakness (New England’s defense versus Chicago’s offense). For the visitors, the following questions will need to be answered to decide both battles in their favor:Can the Patriots improve in the red zone on both sides of the ball? Can the Patriots defense force Chicago to play from behind the sticks? Can the Patriots win on third down?If New England is able to accomplish most of those things, it could very well sway the outcome in its favor. The New England Patriots took care of business against the Buffalo Bills and won 25-6. It wasn’t the most exciting game, but it counts as a win and the Patriots are creating some distance within the AFC East and in the AFC.Here’s what we learned. The Patriots didn’t have a running gameRunning backs James White and Kenjon Barner combined for 19 rushing yards and a touchdown on 10 carries (1.9 yards per carry). Wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson led the Patriots with 38 rushing yards on 10 carries http://www.thepatriotsfootballauthentic.com/kyle-van-noy-jersey-authentic , while Julian Edelman added 13 yards on 2 carries. Tom Brady added 8 yards on an early scamper. In total, the Patriots had 78 rushing yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. They really missed having Sony Michel on the field and the lack of a running game had a major impact on the viability of the play-action game and the efficiency of the offense in the red zone.New England was able to get away with it this week because the Bills are terrible. They’ll need a rushing attack next week against the Green Bay Packers.Tom Brady had a very low-impact gameBrady had an effective day in the office, completing 29 of 45 passes (64.4%) for 324 yards, with no touchdowns or interceptions. He had...four, maybe five passes that anyone would consider “difficult” but it was entirely unnecessary because the Patriots didn’t have to do anything difficult to win.Brady spent much of his day dumping the ball off to James White (10 catches for 79 yards) or throwing it to Julian Edelman in the middle of the field (9 catches for 104 yards). It would have been nice if Brady were able to make any magic in the red zone (1 for 4, a fumble, for a net of +1 yards), but the Bills defense did a great job against the Patriots skill players. It honestly just felt like the Patriots were trying to “get through” this game as healthy as possible, with the hopes that Rob Gronkowski will be healthier next week and Sony Michel will be able to return to the lineup. The Patriots defense showed up against a weak opponentFootball Outsiders always preaches that the best teams show up against the weakest teams and don’t play to the level of the competition- and the Patriots defense rose to the occasion and crushed the terrible Bills offense. The defensive stars played as they should.Trey Flowers was the best player on the field and racked up two tackles for loss and a third for no gain, two quarterback hits, a pass defended. Kyle Van Noy was also excellent in the place of the inactive Dont’a Hightower, leading the Patriots with 8 tackles, 2 sacks, a forced fumble, and a tackle for loss.Lawrence Guy, Danny Shelton, and Malcom Brown combined for 2 tackles on the day http://www.thepatriotsfootballauthentic.com/ryan-allen-jersey-authentic , but the Bills running backs gained a mere 47 yards on 18 carries, with LeSean McCoy getting a laughable 13 yards on 12 carries.Credit also to the Patriots secondary, with Stephon Gilmore having another great game, holding Kelvin Benjamin to 2 catches for 45 yards on 7 targets, with 40 of those yards coming on a jump ball that he defended as well as he could. Patrick Chung and Devin McCourty did a good job against Charles Clay, holding the tight end to 3 catches for 36 yards on 6 targets. McCourty also returned an interception for a touchdown.Hopefully the Patriots defense can build off this and play better over the second half of the season.Special teams had an up-and-down dayThe Patriots didn’t have the best day on special teams, with Ryan Allen averaging an “as-unimpressive-as-it-sounds” 37.0 yards per punt average; the Bills four drives off of Allen punts started at an average of the 37-yard line. On the flip side, Julian Edelman was penalized for an unsportsmanlike penalty that pinned the Patriots on their own 5-yard line.Stephen Gostkowski had a strong day, hitting field goals from 25-, 40-, 38-, and 25-yards and missing one from 50-yards. He also connected on his extra point and did well on his kickoffs with four touchbacks and the Bills starting on an average of the 22-yard line on kicks they returned. The first half of the 2018 NFL Season is in the books. The (6-2) Patriots now have a 2.5-game lead in the AFC East, with the head-to-head tiebreaker over the (4-4) Miami Dolphins. The (3-5) New York Jets and (2-6) Buffalo Bills are pretty far in the rearview mirror as the Patriots are on pace to win their 15th division title in the past 16 years.Within the AFC, the Patriots trail the (7-1) Kansas City Chiefs, but hold the head-to-head tiebreaker if they wind up with matching records at the end of the year. The (5-2) Los Angeles Chargers have the third-best record in the AFC and are second in the AFC West. The (4-2-1) Pittsburgh Steelers somehow lead the AFC North ahead of the (5-3) Cincinnati Bengals and (4-4) Baltimore Ravens, which adds import to the Patriots-Steelers showdown in week 15; the winner has a strong chance of getting a first round bye.Meanwhile, the (5-3) Houston Texans have a strong lead in the AFC South ahead of the (3-4) Tennessee Titans and (3-5) Jacksonville Jaguars. The Patriots have the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Texans Youth Stephen Gostkowski Jersey , again cementing New England in strong position in the conference. The Patriots are 6-2, which is par for the course under head coach Bill Belichick. Only four Patriots teams have started better (8-0 in 2007 and 2015; 7-1 in 2004 and 2016), with the 2003, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, and 2017 Patriots also all starting 6-2.The Belichick teams that didn’t were the 2000-02, 2005, 2008, and 2011-12 Patriots. It’s good to note that the Patriots have made every single AFC Championship Game since that 2011 season and that means they’re right on track for the second half of the year.

Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers are universally regarded as two of the best quarterbacks

of their generation.Brady has spent the better part of his 19 seasons in the NFL eclipsing virtually every milestone set by his predecessors. Along the way www.authenticsnewenglandpatriots.com , he's captured every major piece of hardware the league has to offer from multiple MVPs to Super Bowl titles, all while remaining at the top of his game at 41.Rodgers isn't as decorated as Brady, but has been just as celebrated during his 14-year career for a free-wheeling style and an uncanny ability to pull off plays that have been rarely duplicated by his peers.Between them, they have five regular-season MVP awards, nine Super Bowl appearances and six Super Bowl rings.Yet when the Patriots host the Packers on Sunday night , it will mark just the second time that the future Hall of Famers have squared off as starting quarterbacks. Rodgers won the first meeting in 2014 in a game in which they combined for 613 passing yards and four touchdowns in Green Bay's five-point victory at Lambeau Field.Rodgers capped that season by winning his second regular-season MVP trophy. Brady went on to hoist his fourth Super Bowl title.Watching each other's success from afar has bred a deep respect between them. Rodgers for Brady's longevity. Brady for the skillset Rodgers brings to the position."Tom's been at the top of his game for over a decade," Rodgers said. "Obviously, we play a little bit different style of game, but the stuff that he does well is stuff that over my career I've tried to incorporate into my own game."I enjoy competing against great players and obviously Tom is right at the top."It's similar to how Brady describes Rodgers."What he's done as a quarterback, I think it is inspiring even for me," Brady said. "I watch his game and it makes me want to get out there and practice and improve because I think he's so phenomenal with the way he manages himself in the pocket and his ability to throw the football is unlike anyone probably in the history of the league."Though he wants to play until he's 45 New England Patriots T-Shirt , Brady will presumably retire before Rodgers, leaving the 34-year-old time to narrow the gap between them in career numbers. But neither is interested in playing the hypothetical game about who the better quarterback is."I don't really try to get into the 'what-if' game," Rodgers said. "I'm fortunate to have been drafted here and sit behind Brett (Favre) for three years. He was obviously drafted late there ... so his chip might have been a little bit bigger than mine starting out his career."There's a lot of pride in that legacy part of your career, and I think him and I both feel the same way about our organizations."Brady also called any similar debate about the greatest quarterback of all-time a fruitless endeavor. Though he knows one name that belongs on his list."It's hard to compare positions and eras. It's impossible to answer," Brady said. "I think Aaron is one of the best ever to play the game. He's got every skill you need to be a great quarterback."Here are some things to watch for in Sunday's game:MILESTONE WATCHBrady enters Sunday's game second in NFL history for the most combination passing, rushing and receiving yards in the regular-season and playoffs. Peyton Manning tops the list with 79,978 yards. Brady is next with 79,781.SAFETY DANCEThe trade of Ha Ha Clinton-Dix means that the Green Bay Packers are without a five-year starter at safety .Clinton-Dix, who led the team with three interceptions, was the most experienced player at a position that was still mired by inconsistency. Possible replacements include Jermain Whitehead, who missed practice at midweek with a back injury; or Josh Jones New England Patriots Hats , a second-year player who missed time earlier this year with an ankle injury. Veteran cornerback Tramon Williams also has a couple games of experience playing safety while with the Browns a couple years ago. Cornerback Bashaud Breeland appears to be getting healthier from a hamstring injury and might be ready to play. The Packers didn't acquire players at the trade deadline, a sign that general manager Brian Gutekunst might like the depth in the secondary even without Clinton-Dix.COMING A LONG WAYDavante Adams was a rookie the last time these teams played in 2014 at Lambeau Field. That 26-21 win by the Packers was a milestone game for Adams, now Green Bay's No. 1 receiver.Adams had six catches for 121 yards in the game, taking advantage of more targets after the Patriots elected to blanket then-top wideout Jordy Nelson. Now the roles might be reversed, and Adams could be the player who gets extra attention. If that's the case, it won't be much different from what Adams has faced all year. Adams has had at least 132 yards receiving in each of the last three games.AP Sports Writer Genaro Armas in Green Bay, Wisconsin, contributed to this report.Follow Kyle Hightower on Twitter at ://khightower After every New England Patriots win, head coach Bill Belichick joins radio color commentator and ex-Patriots quarterback Scott Zolak for a film breakdown of the action. This week, the duo took a look at four pivotal plays from the team’s 25-6 victory over the Buffalo Bills — New England’s fifth victory in a row, and second straight on the road.1-10-BUF 33 (3:04) D.Anderson sacked at BUF 27 for -6 yards (K. Van Noy). FUMBLES (K. Van Noy) [K. Van Noy] New England Patriots Hoodie , RECOVERED by NE-P.Chung at BUF 29.Belichick and Zolak start the breakdown by looking at the game’s first turnover, a strip sack by linebacker Kyle Van Noy. “Just a good individual rush by Kyle,” Belichick saud about the play. “Good job getting off on the ball, and running a really tight corner.” The head coach also points out Patrick Chung, who recovers the fumble even though the Bills initially appeared to be in very good position to do that themselves. “Patrick, always alert, makes a good fumble recovery here.”3-15-NE 30 (6:09) (Shotgun) D.Anderson pass short right intended for C.Clay INTERCEPTED by D.McCourty at NE 16. D.McCourty for 84 yards, TOUCHDOWN.“Probably the play of the game,” Belichick said about Devin McCourty’s 84-yard pick-six in the fourth quarter. The head coach starts by looking at Patrick Chung, who was in one-on-one coverage on tight end Charles Clay and giving him the inside leverage. “He allows himself to get beat inside knowing that he has help,” Belichick points out before turning his attention to McCourty. “Devin Youth Customized New England Patriots Jerseys , first of all, reading the quarterback and as the ball’s delivered Devin gets a good jump on the ball.”1-10-NE 35 (2:12) (No Huddle, Shotgun) D.Anderson sacked at NE 47 for -12 yards (A.Clayborn).Belichick and Zolak continued breaking down the defensive side of the ball when looking at the next play, a 12-yard sack by Adrian Clayborn. “I thought we did a good job of finishing the game, playing good of defense, making a stop on downs there and being able to run out the clock,” Belichick said. New England’s head coach points out how Clayborn is able to get inside on the left tackle and how fellow defender John Simon was also getting into the backfield on a stunt on the opposite side of the formation.2-22-NE 47 (2:00) (Shotgun) D.Anderson sacked at BUF 43 for -10 yards (K.Van Noy). BUF-D.Anderson was injured during the play. Finally, Belichick and Zolak analyze Kyle Van Noy’s fourth-quarter sack that knocked quarterback Derek Anderson out of the game. “He does a nice job here of timing the blitz up,” Belichick said about the linebacker who again had a very good game. Belichick also praised the coverage down the field. “Nice way to end the game here with a big strong defensive effort.”

Hill on the injured reserve The New England Patriots made three roster moves on Monday http://www.patriotscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-stephon-gilmore-jersey , per ESPN’s Field Yates. The Patriots placed running back Jeremy Hill on the injured reserve with a torn ACL and they released wide receivers Riley McCarron and Chad Hansen. The Patriots will have to make three corresponding additions to the roster. The move of Hill was expected due to his injury. Hopefully rookie Sony Michel will be able to return to the field and lessen the need to add another running back to the roster, while undrafted rookie Ralph Webb is on the practice squad and available for promotion. McCarron muffed a punt that led to a Houston Texans touchdown, so his release should remind Patriots fans of Chris Harper. McCarron was a pure slot receiver on offense Cheap Joe Thuney Jersey , so perhaps there’s another player the Patriots have in mind to step in at the slot. The team worked out Corey Coleman on Monday and veteran Kendall Wright last week. Jace Billingsley is another practice squad promotion option.Hansen’s release shouldn’t make too many waves as he was with the team for a mere 8 days. The Patriots were just testing the waters to see what he could provide. Both McCarron and Hansen are practice squad targets. We’ll provide updates on future roster moves when they are known. The Patriots will try for a win against the Packers on Sunday night without the help of tight end Rob Gronkowski.Gronkowski has been ruled out for the second time in the last three weeks as he continues to deal with back and ankle injuries. Gronkowski was listed as questionable after sandwiching limited practices around a day on the sideline on Thursday. The Patriots will also play without running back Sony Michel. It’s the second week in a row that Michel will sit out and the Patriots used Cordarrelle Patterson along with James White and Kenjon Barner in the backfield last week.Tight end Jacob Hollister and linebacker Nicholas Grigsby are also out after being listed as questionable. Offensive linemen Shaq Mason, Brian Schwenke and Cole Croston round out the inactive group.Wide receiver Geronimo Allison is inactive for the Packers after hurting his groin in practice last week. Punter Drew Kaser, quarterback Tim Boyle Cheap Danny Shelton Jersey , cornerback Tony Brown, linebacker Korey Toomer, guard Justin McCray and offensive lineman Alex Light are also inactive.

With a year under his belt at the position, Lynn and his staff were not just able to pull it off, but make it a spectacular event that welcomed hordes of fans in attendance. Both sides of the ball were able to put on a show with play-makers running abound on either side, but neither had quite the day like the second-year receiver out of Clemson. Mike Williams “caught everything thrown his way” which a pair of touchdowns and another long-bomb which he caught over the top of the defender. The first of his two touchdowns was a nifty catch in the back of the endzone in which he somehow found two feet in-bounds while taking a lick from a defender after the catch. I loved this play because it’s a much more realistic touchdown catch than what you normally see in training camp. They aren’t all going to be pretty balls with perfect placement and conditions. Williams was able to utilize timing, body-control, and the sideline in order to make this grab.Williams’ second score was arguably even more impressive than the first. Lined up on the right side of the formation http://www.chargerscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-isaac-rochell-jersey , Williams took an outside release against CB Casey Hayward and had the body control to stop on a dime and contort for the Rivers pass that was low and to the outside. The placement was impossible for even Hayward to defend and might be a glimpse of things to come this season. It’s incredibly exciting, albeit a year late, to hear all of the positive buzz surrounding last year’s first-round selection. I know it’s still early, we must temper expectations, but sometimes the team just makes that way too hard for the rest of us. Either way, the future is looking brighter and brighter with each day of training camp that passes.Los Angeles Chargers Daily Links: Philip Rivers looked excellent in limited game action Chargers' Hunter Henry Could Return In 2018? - Dallas RobinsonWithout Henry available, the Chargers will begin the season with Virgil Green as their top tight end, while Sean Culkin http://www.chargerscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-austin-ekeler-jersey , Braedon Bowman, Je’Ron Hamm, Cole Hunt, and Ben Johnson are also on the roster. However, Los Angeles is still negotiating with franchise icon Antonio Gates, who reportedly won’t play for any team besides the Chargers.Hunter Henry unlikely to return for Chargers in 2018, but not ruled out - Eric Williams"It's just about executing and being efficient," River said. "No pre-snap penalties -- none of that stuff -- but there's an element of preparing Joe Barksdale Jersey , I think more so for me. I like to do it not so much as it is preparing to go win the game, but more so to get me into that in-season mode of preparing -- watching the pressures, watching the third downs, going through and studying the game play sheet.Rivers, Chargers look sharp early in 24-14 win over Seahawks - Greg BeachamJJ Jones returned a punt 72 yards for a touchdown late in the first half, and Mike Williams caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Geno Smith in the second half of a solid performance by the Chargers (1-1) in the preseason home opener of their second season at compact StubHub Center.Philip Rivers Leads First-Team Offense to Masterful Start - Ricky HenneHead Coach Anthony Lynn opted to keep Rivers and the starters in for another drive, and it got off to a good start when number 17 evaded the rush and hit Gordon, who then ran upfield for a 16-yard gain. The running back gained another first down with his feet. Unfortunately Cheap Dan Feeney Jersey , the drive ended when Rivers’ pass for Allen on 3rd-and-6 fell incomplete despite what looked like sure-fire defensive pass interference.Seahawks suffer 24-14 defeat, fall to 0-2 in 2018 preseason - The Great Mookie AlexanderJust like last week, the Seahawks defense had the change to get the ball back by making a three-and-out stop, only for the opposition’s run game to get the conversion. Detrez Newsome broke through for a 31-yard gain that put the Chargers into field goal range, and Roberto Aguayo iced the game shortly thereafter.Social Media Information:BFTB Facebook Page: Click here to like our pageBFTB Twitter: Follow @BFTB_ChargersThe Lightning Round Twitter: Follow @Lightning_RoundThe Lightning Round Facebook: Click here to like our pageBFTB Manager: Richard Wade: Follow @RichardWade

Offseason Refresher Course:

Kansas City Chiefs If you were to ask any members from the staff here who their draft crush was prior to 2017 NFL Draft Joe Barksdale Jersey , you would get a single, resounding answer.Patrick Mahomes. *cries a single, manly tear*To our great dismay, the Kansas City Chiefs traded up in the first round of that draft to select the gunslinger from Texas Tech and have cursed us with having to watch a hated division rival if we want to enjoy the highly-anticipated career of Mahomes.Head Coach Andy Reid just can’t stop being a thorn in the side of Charger fans....#SMHIt’s been four years and eight divisional match-ups since the Chargers have won a game against the Chiefs. Since the 2015 season, in which the team went 4-12 and won a whopping zero games against division against zero opponents, the Chargers have been able to fight back some of the demons keeping them at the bottom of the division. This past season, the Bolts were a blocked field goal away from possibly sweeping the broncos (including a stellar shutout in the second match-up) on top of sweeping the Oakland Raiders.I’m not one to encourage getting hopes up but this year is set up nicely for some good things to happen. Yeah, yeah, I know I sound like a broken record but relying on a pessimistic mindset won’t make this season any better even if something bizarre happens. But just hear me out.The Chiefs have a first-year starter at quarterback and, no matter how good he may be Authentic Casey Hayward Jersey , the Chargers can take advantage of this situation with their #1 EDGE rushing duo in the NFL. Mahomes is known for his street-ball play-style that can also come around to spite him when we also have the plethora of ball-hawks waiting and salivating for his first mistake.I don’t know about you, but that first regular season game is looking much more like a trap game for the young QB than a potential ninth loss in a row for the Chargers.OffenseAlex Smith is finally gone from the Chiefs and I for one could not be any more pumped. When the Chiefs obtained Smith from the 49ers, I didn’t think much of it. He was a sub-par QB his entire career and I didn’t think much would change. That’s until Reid turned him into the Chargers’ own version of the boogeyman as he has haunted our dreams for the last four years. No longer is he able to spite us with his running abilities when the defense does everything right. No longer must we deal with his knack for not turning the ball over. The future looks much less bleak without him under center. The next biggest change to the offensive side of the ball for the Chiefs is the acquisition of wide receiver Sammy Watkins from the LA Rams. After a year that saw Watkins collect an efficient 39-593-8 stat line with McVay and Co., Watkins becomes a new all-around threat for an explosive offense that already includes Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Kareem Hunt. The offensive talent is roughly the only thing that still may keep me up at night with this team. For scouting purposes, it’s good that not much has changed other than the two stated above. The Chiefs felt so confident in there offense that they spent every pick of theirs in the last draft on defensive players. Not surprising when the offense is coming off a season where they helped set career passing marks for Smith while also being able to claim the season’s rushing leader in Kareem Hunt.DefenseOn the flip-side, the Chiefs were able to obtain some outstanding value-picks while working without a first-round pick this year. They weren’t on the board until the 46th overall pick in the second round. With their first selection, KC reached quite a bit for defensive end Breeland Speaks out of Ole Miss. The 6-foot-3, 285-pounder has the potential to play defensive end and outside linebacker in the Chiefs’ defense but may be better suited for the former. In the third round Youth Melvin Ingram Jersey , Kansas City selected another draft-darling of the staff in defensive tackle Derrick Nnandi from Florida State. At 6-foot-1 and tipping the scales at 317 pounds, Nnandi seemed like a natural fit as a run-stuffing 1-techique in Bradley’s offense with Brandon Mebane inching closer and closer to retirement. Their fourth-round selection, Clemson outside linebacker/safety prospect Dorian O’Daniel, is a second defensive name to highlight that had ties to the Bolts through the draft prospect. After Gus Bradley often used safety Adrian Phillips in a Nickel/Dime linebacker role this past season, O’Daniel seemed like a perfect prospect with the potential to play that part on the defense going forward. The Chiefs rounded out day three of the draft by selecting safety Armani Watts, cornerback Tremon Smith, and defensive tackle Kahlil McKenzie out of Texas A&M, Central Arkansas, and Tennessee, respectively. The good news about the majority of these players is that their all currently relegated to back-up duty going into training camp with only possibly Nnandi being able to crack the starting lineup over Xavier Williams http://www.chargersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-brandon-mebane-jersey , a third-year player they nabbed via Arizona. As far as other new faces, middle linebacker Anthony Hitchens joins the team after several solid years with the Cowboys. He will likely join Reggie Ragland in the middle of the defense after Derrick Johnson’s departure to Oakland earlier this year. With Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Peters no longer in the secondary, this defensive backfield won’t likely give Philip Rivers the same fits that they have been over the last few years. However, rising-star cornerback Kendall Fuller made his way to Kansas City in return for the Chiefs shipping Alex Smith out east to Washington so I can’t say the secondary will be that much of a pushover.Special TeamsNot a thing will change involving the Chiefs’ special teams unit heading into the 2018 season. Dustin Colquitt will remain at punter while second-year kicker Harrison Butker looks to build on a phenomenal rookie campaign where he connected on 38-of-42 field goals.Tyreek Hill remains as the deep man for punt and kick returns as he is a threat to take it all the way whenever he touches the ball. What are you predictions for the Kansas City Chiefs this season? Will they take a step back or continue their recent success? Let us know.BFTB Roundtable: Which Offensive Player Are You Most Excited To Watch? It’s here, you guys. The first preseason game and our first chance to see the Bolts take the field for the 2018 season. There are a ton of story-lines to watch: the backup QB situation, tight position battles, and certain players beginning a career in a whole new position. With so much to watch, I decided to go around and ask the guys who they’ll be watching the closest on either side of the ball.First up, offensive players.Louis Gorini: I’m a fat guy so I will be focusing on my fellow fat guys. I will be looking at Dan Feeney and seeing how he performs in the trenches. Last year his play was decent, I want to see how he performs with a solid veteran center next to himCody Young: I want to see what Virgil Green looks like in the Chargers offense. Obviously losing Hunter Henry was pretty devastating. They’re going to need Green to step up for them.Isaac Gutierrez: I’m going to pick the easy answer— Mike Williams. After his injury filled rookie season it would be great to see him get off too a quick start in the preseason. If he ends up living up to his draft pedigree this season the team’s offense should be at another level than we’ve seen in previous years.Jamie Sewell: I want to see Austin Ekeler. I have a man crush on him Tyrell Williams Jersey , and if he plays as well this preseason as he did in the last one, he’s surely got to be in like to take some more snaps away from Melvin Gordon.Ruben Gonzalez: I would like to see Geno Smith get some real time running the 1st teamers. For some reason, it seems like coach Lynn has a special place in his heart for Cardale Jones. So I would hope that Geno proves effective and puts all this ‘battle for no. 2’ to bed once and for all. (edited)Matthew Stanley: Sean Culkin. I was on team Culkin big time and the team needs to see if they can get by with Virgil Green, Sean Culkin, and Braedon Bowman at the TE position. Michael Peterson: With it being the first game of the preseason, I don’t expect to see a lot of Melvin Gordon or even Austin Ekeler for that matter. I’m most excited to see seventh-round running back Justin Jackson in an extended fashion. He started training camp behind Russell Hansbrough but I believe he will be the #3 back going forward. He rushed for over 1,000 yards each of his four seasons at Northwestern and he should make the Chargers’ stable of backs one of the most formidable in the AFC West.

Maybe Danny Isidora ISN’T the starting center

There have been some legitimate questions about the offensive line for the Minnesota Vikings heading in to the season www.vikingscheapshops.com , and we still don’t have full clarity as we head towards week one. Although starting C Pat Elflein has come off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, he isn’t expected to be ready to play in the opener, so when the Vikes traded with the New York Giants for Brett Jones and cutdowns came and went, the thought was that he would be the guy to hold down the fort until Elf...wait for it...came off the shelf.Boom, I’m here all week.Anyway, the consensus was Jones would be the center, and Tom Compton would probably be the left guard in the short term. When Elflein comes back the hope would be he takes over starting center duties and Jones would slide over to LG.Yesterday, that was kind of thrown for a loop when NFL Network and insider Brian Baldinger reported that Danny Isisdora would start at center this Sunday. That seemed really odd, since Isidora only started at center one time in his life...and that was last Thursday in the Vikings preseason finale against Tennessee. In Isidora’s defense, he looked good...but playing in a fourth preseason game against many guys who are no longer in the NFL is a lot different than week one of the regular season. Baldy’s report was actually given some reinforcement yesterday when Mike Zimmer described Isidora as ‘a natural’ at the position, although he was non-committal on who the starter would be.Today though, QB Kirk Cousins...I know I know Minnesota Vikings T-Shirt , ‘sources’ and all that...seemed to refute the Baldinger report and tweet by maybe tipping the hand of who the starter at center is:And by ‘maybe tipping the hand’, I mean ‘telling us who the starting center is going to be’. I think it makes perfect sense that it will be Jones, which means Compton probably gets the start at LG, like most of us originally thought. So unless this is the greatest set of NFL center subterfuge in history, it looks like Brett Jones is the starting C on Sunday. And so ends The Great Center War with nary a shot, and it paled in comparison to The Great QB Wars. And as fun as a starting center controversy might have been, I say let us have Peace In Our Time. Last year, after playing through a rib injury in the NFC Divisional Playoff game at U.S. Bank Stadium, fans of the Minnesota Vikings aided New Orleans Saints’ punter Thomas Morstead in raising money for his charity, What You Give Will Grow. Through the combination of a post on Reddit and Morstead’s announcement that donations received during the week following the Saints/Vikings game would go to the Children’s Minnesota Child Life Program, Vikings’ fans stepped up in a big way. By the end of the week, the amount raised had grown to a grand total of $221 Minnesota Vikings Hats ,143, and Morstead came to the Twin Cities personally to present the check. Now, in this week leading up to the Sunday Night Football game between the Vikings and the Saints, Morstead’s charity is teaming up with Vikings’ cornerback Marcus Sherels for what they’re calling the “Best Christmas Ever.”According to the What You Give Will Grow website, here is what the Best Christmas Ever program entails:Thus far, with just six days remaining in the fundraising effort, less than 20% of the total goal amount has been raised. They’re shooting for a total of $60,000, and as of now the total stands at just $10,995.According to the page, the market that provides the biggest share of the fundraising will get 60% of the final tally, while the other market will get 40%. So Minnesota Vikings Hoodie , in addition to (hopefully) beating the Saints on the football field, Vikings fans will have an opportunity to take down Saints fans in the charitable arena as well.(Not that there are any losers when it comes to charity like this, mind you, but still. . .let’s help get the Twin Cities to a win here, shall we?)If you’d like to donate to What You Give Will Grow’s charitable efforts to give families in the Twin Cities and in New Orleans the Best Christmas Ever, you can hit the link right here.
Minnesota Vikings release Jeff Badet

Vikings Roster Cuts: We’re getting closer to the 53-man roster deadline for the Minnesota Vikings (and 31 other NFL teams that don’t matter quite as much). We’re getting word of another cut to the Vikings’ wide receiver corps.According to Darren Wolfson of KSTP White Dalvin Cook Jersey , the Vikings will be releasing wide receiver Jeff Badet.Badet started his college career at Kentucky, but eventually transferred to Oklahoma. He went undrafted this past season, and was not invited to the Scouting Combine, but he made waves at Oklahoma’s Pro Day when he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.27 seconds.Badet is thought to be a practice squad candidate because of his speed and his ability to potentially be a force in the return game, but we’ll have to see how that shakes out.More cuts are coming for the Vikings as we’re now about two and a half hours away from the roster deadline. Keep track of all of today’s moves right here at The Daily Norseman!Three things to watch: Vikings vs Jags It won’t be long until the season is over. I know, y’all are like, “but, Lucas it’s only the second preseason game.” You’re not wrong White Ben Gedeon Jersey , but the season will come and go in a blink of an eye, so enjoy every bit of it. Minnesota kicks-off against Jacksonville on Saturday at noon. One of the biggest things to watch for that I’m not including on my three things, because it’s just obvious. That’s to watch these two defenses and see where one stacks up against the other. Here are the three things to keep your eye on throughout the game:3. Tight end competition Wednesday in practice, tight end Josiah Price suffered a season-ending knee injury. Now, the tight end depth lost one player. It’s debatable if Price would have even made the roster, but that solidifies a position battle between Blake Bell and rookie Tyler Conklin for the third tight end spot and ixnayed a spot for Price on the active roster. Conklin only caught one pass last week for two yards, but Bell caught zero passes. I got a thing for rookies beating out players who’ve been in the league for a few years. Conklin only appeared in eight games last season with Central Michigan after missing the first five because of an injury. He still managed to scrape up 28 catches for 406 yards and five touchdowns, averaging about 50 yards a game. Bell didn’t see much action last season with the Vikings. He only managed three catches for 19 yards in 13 games. He was placed on injured reserve after a shoulder injury he sustained on December 15. The year before that he was in San Francisco where he played in 13 games and only recorded four catches for 85 yards before going on the injured reserve http://www.authenticsminnesotavikings.com/cheap-rashod-hill-jersey , again. 2. Look for Forbath to strike backYes, Daniel Carlson had a fantastic first preseason game. Now, this week it will probably be Kai Forbath hitting field goals and extra points, while Carlson handles kick-offs. Forbath isn’t going to let Carlson just take his job. Last week Carlson hit what seemed to be a perfect 57-yard field goal and a 39-yard field goal earlier in the game. He managed to make all four of his extra attempts. He had a solid debut, but can Forbath match his performance? Why do I make a big deal about kickers? Well just look back on track records of former kickers who played for the Vikings and blew big games (cough, cough Gary Anderson and Blair Walsh, cough, cough). 1. Return of Dalvin CookFinally we get to see number 33 hit the field and take some live-game reps. Well Youth Everson Griffen Jersey , hopefully since it’s not a for sure thing. I feel like he might get a decent amount of touches, but this is also where we will get a hint of if he’ll be the same player that he was on pace to be last year before he got hurt. Before getting hurt last season Cook was on pace to exceed 1,000 yards rushing and some fantasy experts expect him to rush for over 1,100 this season. I’d say pump the breaks a little bit, considering how well Latavius Murray played last season. I wouldn’t mind if offensive coordinator John DeFlippo decided to split the workload between the two or just run with whoever is feeling it that day. There is no way Murray will take a backseat to Cook.

The Saints currently have the bragging rights, as they lead the series 32-20. As always, coaches and players will see familiar faces on the opposing sideline, and today we take a look at some of the notable ones.PlayersLB Alex Anzalone, Bucs LS Drew Ferris and CB Vernon Hargreaves played at Florida together in 2014. Buccaneers QB Ryan Fitzpatrick and Saints LB Demario Davis played together with the New York Jets in 2015, Davis then spent the 2017 season with Tampa Bay K Chandler Catanzaro. Tampa Bay CB De`Vante Harris spent his first two NFL seasons with New Orleans from 2016-17 and his father Rod, played for the Saints in 1989.TE Josh Hill and OL Evan Smith were college teammates at Idaho State in 2009. Saints T Ryan Ramcyzk played with Bucs LB Jack Cichy in 2016 at Wisconsin.DE Cameron Jordan was at California in 2010 with Bucs P Bryan Anger and S Chris Conte, while Jordan, Conte and DeSean Jackson played together in 2007. New Orleans S Vonn Bell, CB Marshon Lattimore, WR Michael Thomas and Tampa Bay DE Noah Spence were college teammates at Ohio State.Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate had a 2015 stint on the Saints practice squad. CoachingSaints Head Coach Sean Payton and Tampa Bay Offensive Line Coach George Warhop served on the same staff with Dallas from 2003-04. Saints Linebackers Coach Mike Nolan and Tampa Bay Head Coach Dirk Koetter were both coordinators for Buccaneers Defensive Coordinator Mike Smith when he was Falcons head coach during a period spanning from 2012-14 when Nolan first arrived in Atlanta as defensive coordinator, also serving on the same Atlanta staff with Tampa Bay Assistant Wide Receivers/ Game Management Andrew Weidinger. Tampa Bay Def. Backs Coach Brett Maxie played safety for New Orleans from 1985-93 and also served on the same coaching staff with Saints Defensive Coordinator Dennis Allen in Atlanta from 2004-05. Saints Director of Player Engagement Fred McAfee played for Tampa Bay in 1999, where he was a teammate of Buccaneers Dir. of Football Operations Shelton Quarles. You Remind Me: The first week of Saints training camp and a High School crush A comparison is only as good as the creativity behind it. From players and coaches to specific personnel groups, we’ll try to compare it all! Every reference will be included from former Saints alumni, as well as other well-known entities throughout the spectrum. You’ll even see common life occurrences or perspectives that most of us can all relate to. We hope you enjoy the first installment of “You Remind Me”.Rejection is quite the element to deal with throughout life. Like most character building opportunities, it is a part of life that we must experience — whether we’re ready for it or not. Rejection can either break a person or be the fuel that ignites them going forward — easily explained as a lesson learned. When the spotlight returns for redemption, one is either prepared for it or fearful of a past outcome. And as the beginning of training camp for the New Orleans Saints is finally present and rolling along, their moment of truth is slowly following in pursuit. To put things in perspective, think about what rejection means to some, something easily relatable like an old high school crush, but more importantly from the perspective of the underdog. Most people growing up eventually run into a crush at some point in life. Someone they admire deeply beyond the means of realization. And underdogs usually aren’t as physically blessed or gifted as say you the reader are. So Youth Marcus Williams Jersey , instead of maybe having a believed legitimate shot at the person they secretly admire, this crush becomes more of a dream, a longshot. The crush soon reaches “out of my league” status before a simple greeting is even mustered.Imagine that, before anything is truly settled, this person is basically counted out. Sound familiar? Last season, the New Orleans Saints were “out of their league” to most. Not many predicted success from the young group of unproven and unheralded cast of players New Orleans put forth as the season began. Drew Brees in his prime couldn’t carry the roster (see defense) in front of him, and an even rejuvenated Adrian Peterson wouldn’t be enough to save him. The rejection was early and pessimism was quickly soon once again in the air. Both of what has now become annual stories, rumors of a Sean Payton departure and the declining arm strength of Drew Brees had found its way into our eyes again by the end of Week 2. Any maintained success once again felt like a pipe dream.Chuck Cook-USA TODAY SportsThe Saints had two routes they could go at this point. It’s the same exact obstacle for someone feeling rejected chasing a love interest. They can either gear up a plan to approach their crush against the odds or succumb to the fear of failure. Maybe they’ve failed before and it’s not a feeling they want to encounter for a while. Or they could simply not believe in themselves and feed into a negative narrative. This underdog, however, is built differently. They gather all the confidence they can collect and finally approach the person. And they get turned down slightly, but not emphatically. There’s room for an opportunity, the presentation just wasn’t polished yet. In the meantime, confidence is building, and this underdog isn’t feeling much like one anymore. And that leads us back to the Saints.New Orleans started their season 0-2 and the “8-8” jokes were in full force (or 7-9 since it had become the norm for a bit). Then, a surprising shift quickly manufactured. Fear turned into a strength, which turned into confidence, and by the time the season ended, the Saints were downright cocky. The main shift for New Orleans started defensively, as they no longer were doormats for opposing offenses. Cam Jordan’s elite individual status was joined by a plethora of teammates. Standouts including Defensive Rookie of the Year Marshon Lattimore, Ken Crawley, Marcus Williams, Sheldon Rankins and many others. This group became known as the “Boonk Gang”. And they had no problem showing you.The offense produced a balanced attack led by a dancing machine in Mark Ingram and an airhead consuming Offensive Rookie of the Year Alvin Kamara. Michael Thomas became elite right in front of our eyes http://www.authenticsneworleanssaints.com/cheap-thomas-morstead-jersey , Ted Ginn had a career year, and Drew Brees finally had a team that could carry him when needed. “When needed” being the keywords involved. Now that is what we call redemption. The job, however, wasn’t done.New Orleans finished the regular season battered with numerous talents on injured reserve, but were overall battle-tested as they marched into the playoffs at 11-5. After a tight win against the division rival Carolina Panthers, the Saints faced a tough and very talented Minnesota Vikings in a Week One regular season rematch. Both teams were different this time around, and so was the game. The Saints overcame adversity and a huge deficit with a huge chance at advancing. The rest is history, as the Saints were rejected in embarrassing fashion. It’s what any person chasing something or someone is afraid of the most. Not just the rejection, but public and internal embarrassment in the process.Imagine getting your confidence to an all-time high, having your crush look at you and give you signs throughout the year that you have a shot. You feel close, the school year is ending, and you have one last shot for an opportunity at securing a date. And you whiff — and in return, nothing but corny jokes and humiliation come back in your direction. Just like the Saints, you have a whole summer to think about it. If indications are clear, New Orleans is ready for their opportunity when that first bell rings. And while training camp is an orientation of sorts, it brings back feelings both good and bad from last year. Who knows if and when the Saints approach their crush again this year, and if they will even say yes. The expectations aren’t what they were at this time last year. Others will stake their claim, and they could have an even tougher road. Or, the lessons learned and hardship endured could propel them to paradise. The first week of training camp just reminds us of the path traveled, and the next journey that is hoped to be conquered.

2018 New Orleans Saints Training Camp Preview:

Safety The New Orleans Saints have not had a safety make the Pro Bowl since the 2010 season http://www.saintscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-alex-okafor-jersey , when Roman Harper earned the honors. The Saints pass defense had ranked lower than 25th in yards allowed in five of six seasons prior to last year, and 30th or lower four of those times. Colossally poor free agent signings (Jairus Byrd, 2014), coupled with inconsistent production from high draft picks (Kenny Vaccaro, 1st round, 2013; Malcolm Jenkins, 1st round, 2009) led to a lack of playmakers in the last line of defense, and record-setting futility as a result. New Orleans invested two high picks in back to back drafts at the safety position while in the process of rebuilding every level of their defense. Today's training camp preview has a look at how this position may influence the fate of the 2018 Saints. SAFETYKey Losses: Kenny Vaccaro (free agent), Rafael Bush (free agent, Bills)Key Additions: Kurt Coleman (free agent, Panthers), Natrell Jamerson (cb/s-draft, 5th round)Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsThe issue that everyone will want to talk about is this: How will Marcus Williams recover mentally from the mistake that caused the Minnesota Vikings to pull off the improbable last second miracle to prevent the Saints from going to the NFC Championship game? Don't forget that it was his stellar play in the second half, including an acrobatic interception that set up a key touchdown, that helped put the Saints in a position to win that game in the first place. Williams, a 2nd round pick last season (42nd overall), was one of an incredible four New Orleans draft choices to be voted onto the NFL's All-Rookie team. His four interceptions were second on the team, and he was third on the team in total tackles. Williams has excellent range in the secondary, along with good play recognition ability and the athleticism to get there and make a play. He gave the Saints their first legitimate playmaker on the back end since Darren Sharper during the 2009 championship season. Williams has had fanatical focus during the offseason, and this young player who played at a Pro Bowl level at times as a rookie looks poised to take another big leap forward. Photo by Joe Robbins/Getty ImagesPrior to using a second round pick on Williams last season, New Orleans had used a 2nd rounder (61st overall) on Vonn Bell in the 2016 draft. Bell's tackle totals last year were a bit down from his rookie outing, but he still led the Saints defense in stops. He has yet to show the ballhawking skills he was known for at Ohio State, having yet to record an interception in his professional career. Bell has shown solid man-to-man coverage skills http://www.saintscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-ted-ginn-jr-jersey , and plays well close to the line of scrimmage, one of the reasons the team elected not to try and re-sign Vaccaro. He has proven to be an excellent blitzer as well, finishing tied for second on the team with 4.5 sacks. Chris Banjo provided outstanding special teams play, but also had an interception last season, and contributed some solid snaps at safety during the year. Banjo will look to hold off undrafted free agent J.T. Gray and former Falcons special teamer Sharrod Neasman for one of the final roster spots in the secondary. Photo by Grant Halverson/Getty ImagesTo offset the loss of Vaccaro, the Saints signed former Carolina Panthers safety Kurt Coleman in free agency. The 30-yr. old Coleman began his career with Philadelphia in 2010, spending the last three seasons with the division rival Panthers. He has 21 career interceptions, including 11 and two touchdown returns with Carolina, and an NFC-best 7 pick-offs in 2015. Coleman did not have an interception in 2017, but did lead the Carolina secondary in tackles despite missing four games. He brings decent range at free safety, veteran leadership, and extensive familiarity of the quarterbacks and receivers in the NFC South. Photo by Mike Ehrmann/Getty ImagesThe Saints drafted former Wisconsin standout Natrell Jamerson in the 5th round this spring, then followed that by drafting Kamrin Moore from Boston College in the 6th round. Jamerson and Moore were both primarily cornerbacks in college, but will likely get looks at safety in camp, and are outstanding special teams performers. Jamerson in particular, who came to Wisconsin as a receiver but played both safety and corner for the Badgers, could work his way into a key role in the secondary. Despite his inexperience as a defensive back, he shows natural instincts for the position and outstanding athletic ability. New Orleans surprised some by not pursuing Vaccaro or any other big name at safety during free agency, but the safety play was much improved a year ago even without Vaccaro in the lineup at various points. Williams has the look of a perennial Pro Bowler, Bell showed marked improvement in his second season, and Coleman can still provide solid play as a starter. Banjo, or one of the young newcomers, will need to improve to solidify depth, and are expected to contribute heavily on special teams. Vonn Bell and Marcus Williams are among a group of young Saints defenders 25-yrs. old or younger Cheap Alex Anzalone Jersey , and their progression is vital for a rapidly improving New Orleans defense that is expected to push for a championship in 2018. The New Orleans Saints made a strong statement throughout the NFC on Monday night by thoroughly dispatching the Washington Redskins in front of a national audience. The Redskins may not be the strongest team on the New Orleans schedule, but they are one of the league's better defenses, and also have an efficient offense. Photo by Sean Gardner/Getty ImagesThe Saints were firing on nearly all cylinders early, and despite some early struggles defensively on 3rd down, they held a Redskins offense that historically has given them trouble in check. Washington finished with just 283 total yards, and the Saints were again dominant against the run, giving up just 39 yards and 2.1 per carry. New Orleans sacked Washington quarterback Alex Smith three times, forcing a fumble and intercepting him once. The Saints secondary again did a solid job at bottling up the passing game, all but eliminating the big plays down the field. Photo by Sean Gardner/Getty ImagesOffensively, New Orleans rolled up 27 first downs and 447 total yards. Running back Mark Ingram returned to the lineup after a four game suspension and rushed for two scores, as New Orleans employed a balanced game plan that kept the Washington defense on their heels. The Saints also benefited from solid performances from their supporting cast, meaning that they did not need a high output from Michael Thomas or Alvin Kamara to be successful. Certainly a frightening thought for the rest of the NFL. This was a dominant team win, to be sure, but today we just give out one game ball, to a legend that often gets overlooked during conversations about the greatest of all time. DREW BREES Photo by Sean Gardner/Getty ImagesWith 2:46 to go in the second quarter and ahead 20-6, Saints quarterback Drew Brees dropped back to pass and looked deep down the right sideline. In his typical perfect precision, Brees hit rookie wide receiver Tre'quan Smith, who barely broke stride while taking the ball in for a 62-yd. touchdown. The reception was Smith's first professional score, and put the Saints firmly in control of the game. Even more historically important, the completion vaulted Drew Brees past Peyton Manning as the NFL's all-time passing yardage record holder. Photo by Sean Gardner/Getty ImagesSmith, who led all receivers with a career high 111 yards on 3 catches, added a 35-yd. score from Brees early in the 3rd quarter. The competitive phase of this game was ended a short time later, when a Justin Hardee interception return set up a short Saints touchdown, putting them up 40-13 before the end of the third quarter. New Orleans benefited from several standout performances. Marcus Davenport http://www.thesaintsfootballauthentic.com/tyeler-davison-jersey-authentic , Cam Jordan, Sheldon Rankins (1 sack each), and Demario Davis led an aggressive defensive effort that heavily pressured the Redskins backfield all evening. Cam Meredith (5 catches, 71 yards), Thomas (4-74), and Smith were the leaders of Brees' aerial assault on the night, as the Saints had seven pass plays of over 20 yards. Photo by Sean Gardner/Getty ImagesThe Saints put on perhaps their most complete performance of the 2018 season so far, and served notice that they are indeed a championship contender as the season nears it's halfway point. This evening though, belonged to the 39-yr old Brees, as he broke one of the most hallowed career marks in all of sports. As he typically will, Brees was his best when the spotlight shined the brightest, completing 26 of his 29 passes (89.7%) for 363 yards and 3 touchdowns. For the year, he has completed nearly 78% of his throws, averaging over 330 yards per game, and has thrown 11 touchdown passes without a single interception. He has now thrown for 72,103 yards in his incredible career, and next has his sights set on the NFL all time passing touchdown mark. Brees currently has 499 touchdown passes, one behind Tom Brady's 500. Only Brett Favre (508) and Peyton Manning (539) sit ahead of the next iconic record on Brees' path to the Hall of Fame. As any New Orleans player will tell you though, the most important numbers to Brees are the 43-19 score his team won by on Monday night, and the 4 victories the Saints have as they enter their bye week. Unlike most of the greats late in their career that number 9 is passing up statistically, Brees is still playing very close to the best football of his amazing career. Combine that with the impressive play of the talented New Orleans team around him, the number that this group is most focused on is adding championship #2 on the amazing resume' of one of the greatest football players of all time. Congratulations Drew Brees!

Coping With Loss: Jacksonville Jaguars Edition

It would seem that I write one of these every single September. The Patriots lost their first game Youth Rex Burkhead Jersey , which means you fall into one of two categories: you’re either already over it and looking forward to seeing what Josh Gordon will do catching passes from Tom Brady, or you’re one of those sky is falling folks who isn’t happy with New England boasting a Top 10 defense at the end of the season because they’re using September to test different personnel groupings and find out which combination of players works best. But no matter where you fall on the spectrum, nobody likes to lose, so here are five positives we can take away from Sunday’s Jags game. It’s Week 2. For some teams, Week 2 matchups are important. The results are worth celebrating, and a win instills all kinds of confidence. I mean that in all sincerity, as every team in the NFL is at a different point in the developmental process. But the Patriots are not that team. The month of September is more or less an extended preseason for New England, and this game isn’t likely to matter at the end of the season unless the Pats and Jags manage to finish with identical records. And I just don’t see that happening, to be honest. I said the same thing when the Chiefs beat the Patriots in Week 1 of last year, and New England ended that season with the Number One seed.No Marcus Cannon. The Patriots also lost Flowers and Chung to concussions, which meant that three key pieces of the team that the Patriots would need to beat the Jaguars were out. The early pressure that Brady felt, his inability to get into any kind of rhythm, his inaccuracy, a lot of that stemmed from the pressure that the Jaguars were able to get when the game first got going Adam Butler Jersey , and LaAdrian Waddle got tossed around for much of the game. I don’t want to say that getting Cannon back in the lineup is an instant fix, but it’s definitely going to help. Expected offensive rust. This is more or less exactly what I expected from the Patriots offensively, especially early in the year. We saw it against the Texans; tentativeness, difficulty by the receivers getting separation, and some miscommunication. But that’s OK, because the Patriots will be able to figure this out and come back next week with the necessary adjustments. Plus...you know. There’s that whole Josh Gordon guy. He’s pretty okay, I guess.Defense. There isn’t another defense like Jacksonville’s. This was the best defense the Patriots will see this year. The blueprint for beating the Patriots hasn’t really changed in a decade plus; the reality is that there just aren’t that many teams who can do it defensively while also putting a solid game together on offense. Going up against that defense, on the road, in the heat...I’m OK with it. And as a defensive guy, I really enjoyed watching what the Jags could do to an offense still trying to find it’s feet. We’ll see them again. The AFC South is going to be an incredibly interesting division to watch. While it’s still way to early to make any real judgments, it seems that the Jaguars are the favorites to win that division – which means the Patriots will see them again in the postseason. And New England usually does pretty well in rematches. When the game really matters, I’m confident that the result will be different, regardless of where it’s played.New England Patriots 2018 roster breakdown: #87 TE Rob Gronkowski The New England Patriots currently have 88 players on their active roster. However, only 53 of them will be able to survive the cutdowns on September 1 and ultimately make the team. Over the course of the offseason Authentic Elandon Roberts Jersey , we take a look at the players fighting for those spots to find out who has the best chances of helping the Patriots recapture the Vince Lombardi Trophy.Today, the series continues with the NFL’s best tight end.Name: Rob GronkowskiPosition: Tight endJersey number: 87Opening day age: 29Experience: 8Size: 6’6, 270 lbs.2017 review: After ending the 2016 season on injured reserve due to a back injury, Rob Gronkowski returned in impressive fashion last year and left little doubt that he is still in a tight end class of his own. The future Hall of Famer was named first-team All-Pro and voted to the Pro Bowl, and led all tight ends in receiving yards during the regular season (1,084) — all while finishing second in touchdowns (8) and fifth in receptions (69).Gronkowski also was a rather reliable presence for the Patriots in 2017. He appeared in 14 of 16 regular season contests and missed one game each because of a thigh injury (week 5 vs. Tampa Bay) and a suspension stemming from an unnecessary roughness call (week 13 vs. Miami). Overall, he was on the field for 903 of a possible 1,139 offensive snaps (79.3%) and played less than 85% in just two of his in-game appearances. As noted above, Gronkowski was his usual dominant self when on the field. Not only did he stand out as a pass catcher who led his position in yards per reception (15.7) and yards per route run (2.4), he also once again proved to be arguably the best blocking tight end in the game: Gronkowski was regularly used as a run blocker and pass protector, and usually held his ground even when going against some of the NFL’s best defenders.Gronkowski’s high-level play continued in the postseason. Pro Football Focus’ number one rated tight end appeared in all three of New England’s playoff games and was on the field for 79.6% of his team’s offensive snaps (176 of 221). If not for a concussion he sustained during the second quarter of the AFC Championship Game, his playing time percentage would have been even higher. But despite missing some time — just like during the regular season —, his numbers were again magnificent: Gronkowski finished the tournament with 16 receptions for 218 yards and three touchdowns. He was at his best in the Super Bowl against a very good Philadelphia Eagles defense: catching nine passes for 116 yards and two scores, Gronkowski was one of the factors why New England was in the game up until the very end.But while the Patriots came up short in the title game http://www.patriotsauthorizedshop.com/authentic-phillip-dorsett-jersey , 2017 was another successful individual campaign for Gronkowski. Coming off a stint on injured reserve, he proved to still be the NFL’s best tight end and a weapon unlike any other in the league.2018 preview: Gronkowski made headlines immediately after the Super Bowl, when he did not fully commit to returning in 2018. Despite the wave of rumors and speculation this kicked off, though, he ultimately was back on the practice fields for the mandatory portion of the Patriots’ spring and summer workout sessions. And from that point on — through minicamp and training camp —, it was business as usual for the NFL’s best tight end.Consequently, Gronkowski is expected to be one of the most dominant players in the league in 2018. When healthy — something that was not always the case over his previous eight years as a pro —, the 29-year old should be on the field for at least 85% of New England’s offensive snaps every given week and be among the team and league leaders in every significant receiving category.Gronkowski will therefore continue to be one of the core members of New England’s offensive machinery. In that role, he will once more be a reliable receiving weapon for quarterback Tom Brady in the intermediate and deep portions of the field as well as in the red zone — which is especially valuable when considering the team’s current uncertainties at the wide receiver position, with personal turnover and Julian Edelman suspended for four games. At a salary cap hit of $10.91 million (the fourth-highest on the team), he will furthermore also be a sound investment for the team: a player of his elite caliber and abilities as a pass catcher and blocker in the passing and running game is certainly worth this level of financial burden.

can influence NFL’s roster deadline The 53-man roster cutdown carries the same intentions as the back end of the NFL draft’s seventh round. The playing field is where things differ.Teams aren’t directly calling non-vested players around the league in the days prior to their exit from a locker room of 90 http://www.patriotsauthorizedshop.com/authentic-phillip-dorsett-jersey , expressing interest or discussing numbers in the event that such a transaction is filed with 345 Park Avenue. That would be tampering, right? The recruitment of undrafted free agency is the apple to the waiver wire’s orange, in that sense. Meetings along the lines of, ‘We hope to have you back here on the practice squad tomorrow afternoon,’ strike a similar tone as those calls from war rooms telling prospects, ‘We’re thinking of drafting you with our last pick, but if we trade out, we’d love to sign you as a priority free agent.’A waiting period comes along with the former.New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick discussed the process Monday on WEEI’s Ordway, Merloni & Fauria.“There’s a claiming procedure in place here,” Belichick said. “So, all the players that are released go on the waiver wire, and depending on where you are in the claiming ladder – if you’re behind a bunch of teams and you claim a guy – you might not get him anyways.”That much is known. But the Patriots experienced that like few others did on Labor Day weekend 2017. New England was not awarded a single waiver claim that Sunday. No roster, meanwhile, had seen more players claimed off of waivers than the Super Bowl LI champions, with four in all between wide receiver Austin Carr becoming a New Orleans Saint, tight end James O’Shaughnessy a Jacksonville Jaguar, offensive tackle Conor McDermott a Buffalo Bill and cornerback Kenny Moore an Indianapolis Colt. It’s part of the deal. The Patriots’ pro scouting department Youth Lawrence Guy Jersey , as do all, have an idea of just whom they have a flier’s chance to lose – or to get. The preseason is as much about a team evaluating another team’s players as it is their own, and not only on the grounds of ability but availability. There is hiding. There is anticipation.“I would say of the players that are going to be released, let’s call it 80 to 85 percent of them, I’d say we probably could tell who those guys are,” Belichick added. “And then there’s another group of players that it’s down to this guy or that guy, or here’s five guys – two of them are going to make it, three of them probably won’t be on the roster. There might be a surprise here or there that we don’t anticipate, but for the most part, we can usually have a pretty good idea of where the roster decisions are coming.”Perhaps that good idea played a part in the Patriots preemptively striking a handful of trades during the week leading up to 4 p.m. ET on the first Saturday of September. In a span five days last year, the Patriots acquired linebacker Marquis Flowers from the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for pick No. 249 overall in the 2018 draft, sent cornerback Justin Coleman to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for No. 250 overall, added cornerback Johnson Bademosi from the Detroit Lions in exchange for a 2019 sixth-rounder, swapped quarterback Jacoby Brissett with Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Phillip Dorsett, and then capped it off with defensive end Cassius Marsh from Seattle for No. 168 overall along with the same capital that’d been obtained in the Coleman trade. The likes of Flowers, Bademosi, Dorsett and Marsh were on a list far shorter than the thousand-plus who were part of other 31 rosters trimming to 53 apiece. They were New England’s de-facto waiver claims. But countless others were placed on injured reserve http://www.patriotsauthorizedshop.com/authentic-trey-flowers-jersey , physically unable to perform, non-football injury or non-football illness. And countless more were waived-injured, waived or – in the case of accrued NFL veterans who could be back after Week 1 with non-guaranteed salaries – let go outright.“We’re not looking at every single player that gets released,” said Belichick. “There are a lot of players that’ll be released that probably won’t play much football after this year. But there’ll be a chunk of players that are and they’ll go to practice squads, and there’ll be some other players like, I don’t know, usually in the range of 30 to 35 players that’ll be claimed by another team. So, let’s call it about one a team, even though some teams will have two, some will have none. But it’ll be something in the range of 30 players that’ll be claimed on the final cut, and then there’ll be another group of players that will either go to a practice squad or, if they’re not practice squad-eligible, will be available.”New England signed nine players to its 10-man practice squad who slipped through unclaimed on Sept. 3, 2017. All nine were with New England for that preseason in running back D.J. Foster, wideout Cody Hollister, offensive linemen Ted Karras and James Ferentz, defensive tackle Darius Kilgo Shaq Mason Jersey , defensive end Geneo Grissom, linebacker Trevor Bates, and safeties Damarius Travis and David Jones.A day later, receiver Demarcus Ayers and defensive lineman Angelo Blackson were in, and Kilgo was out.The final churn goes well beyond the fourth preseason game. But having an understanding of who will be cut and who will be of interest are not one in the same.It takes a fine-tooth comb.“It’s not 1,300 that we’re looking at,” Belichick said. “It’s probably 50 to 100 that are realistic in some capacity.”New England Patriots links 8/23/18 - Receiving corps in spin cycle TEAM TALKAndy Hart shares his players to watch tomorrow night.Paul Perillo believes the Pats are preparing for Cam Newton with an eye on Deshaun Watson.Press Conference transcripts: Bill Belichick - Tom Brady.Don Banks’ NFL Notes: Taking a spin around the NFL as preseason week 3 looms.LOCAL LINKSKevin Duffy notes Tom Brady hopes to polish his game and get things together tomorrow night against the Panthers.Nick O’Malley reiterates the importance of preseason games to knock off the rust and get into the regular-season grind.Devon Clements (PatriotsWire) 3 matchups to watch in Patriots vs. Panthers in preseason Week 3. 1.

I might be a little paranoid. In fact Cheap Deatrich Wise Jr. Jersey , I know I am.have had with injuries over the last couple of years, I feel like it’s justified. We’ve seen a handful of injuries to Rob Gronkowski throughout this career, and no Patriots injury in recent years was more jaw-dropping than Julian Edelman’s torn ACL in training camp of last season. The only one even comparable is Tom Brady’s torn ACL in the 2008 season opener, which amazingly was 10 freakin’ years ago.Anyway, next up on the injury list is rookie running back Sony Michel, who has really come to life in the last few games after a somewhat slow start. In the last couple of games, Michel has added a very lively spark to this offense. He’s not the main reason the Patriots have scored at least 38 points in four straight games, but he certainly hasn’t been holding them back.Last Sunday night against Kansas City, the rookie rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns. The week before that, against the Colts, Michel racked up 98 yards on the ground with a touchdown, AND even caught a touchdown pass. And then the week before that, when the formerly first place Miami Dolphins were in town, Michel ran for 112 yards and a touchdown. The kid has been absolutely on fire lately. I’m not saying he’s going to be the next Marshawn Lynch, but he was a superstar at the University of Georgia and now he’s got “very, very, very good NFL running back” written all over him. It was a scary moment on Sunday afternoon in Chicago, when Michel got wrapped up and taken to the ground in ugly fashion. Initially it looked like he injured his ankle, but the news quickly came that it was a knee injury Cheap Dont'a Hightower Jersey , and then I started having flashbacks to Gronkowski in 2013 and Brady in 2008. Knee injuries are absolutely brutal.More news later came that Michel’s injury is not considered to be serious, and he’s essentially on a week-to-week basis right now. That’s great news, no doubt. But still, it’s hard not to worry. The Patriots might be really good at winning games — which I guess is the most important thing — but they have the absolute worst luck with injuries. If you want my honest opinion, I think it’s nothing short of a miracle that Brady has only been injured once in his 19-year career.Hopefully, Michel’s knee will heal right up and he’ll be back on the field in no time. But the Patriots injury paranoia inside of me, for some reason, is telling me to brace for the “after further examination, Sony Michel suffered much more severe damage to his knee than it was initially believed, and he will be out for the rest of the season” announcement. Nah, don’t listen to me.
