Foligno tied it up shortly afterward when he snapped a shot between Sparks’ pads from the right circle.Tavares second goal in the first period didn’t require puck luck. Gaudreau became the 10th player in franchise history, and first since Olli Jokinen on Feb. 14, 2011, to register four points in a period.Gaudreau’s handiwork began 2:36 into the game when he set up Tkachuk, who also matched his career best in points. Tkachuk whipped a 20-foot wrist shot past Malcolm Subban for a power-play goal.Gaudreau made it 2-0 at 6:49, ripping a shot over Subban’s glove to complete a tic-tac-to passing sequence with linemates Elias Lindholm and Monahan.“Smart play by a smart player,” said Gaudreau, describing Lindholm’s play that began the sequence. “He’s 20 to 30 feet ahead of us and he has a one-on-two, pulls up, finds (Monahan), next thing you know it’s a two-on-two then I’m coming in the play and it’s a three-on-two. For him to have that awareness, he’s pretty smart.”Gaudreau pounced on a turnover in the Vegas slot and set up Monahan’s one-timer for a 3-0 lead at 10:59, then capped off his record-tying period by setting up Monahan’s second of the period and team-leading 12th goal.“He’s a big-time threat to take the puck to the net and then when he pulls up and delays, you’ve got guys with good timing coming late, that’s when you see all those seam passes and East-West passes,” Peters said. “All of a sudden Chris Kreider Jersey , the goaltender is out playing the shooter and it’s a long lateral pass and he can’t get across.”TJ Brodie and Sam Bennett rounded out the scoring for Calgary (12-8-1), which plays Vegas again on Friday.Nick Holden and Max Pacioretty scored third-period goals for the Golden Knights, who were coming off a 6-3 win in Edmonton on Sunday“It’s hard to believe that this happened tonight, the way we played last night but that’s hockey,” Vegas coach Gerard Gallant said. “It’s pretty disappointing and I hope they’re disappointed because they didn’t show up.”For the Flames, who lead the league with six third-period comebacks, Monahan says it was nice to play from in front for a change.“It’s fun, obviously, when you’re putting the puck in the net and you’re winning like that. That’s the best part of hockey,” said Monahan. “This is a team, I think we needed a win like that.”Second-year Czech goaltender David Rittich made 20 saves to improve to 7-1-0. It was the second start in a row for the 26-year-old Rittich, who is getting more playing time with veteran Mike Smith struggling.Subban went the distance for Vegas, finishing with 25 stops. After going 13-4-2 as a rookie last season, Subban has lost all four starts this season.“I don’t have any answers for you right now, but we’re supposed to be a fast team and it’s probably the slowest we played all year,” Vegas winger Reilly Smith said.NOTES: Flames RW James Neal has gone without a point in his last seven games and is stuck at 499 career points. He has just four points (one goal, three assists) in 21 games since signing a five-year, $28.75 million contract in the summer.UP NEXTGolden Knights: At Arizona on Wednesday night.Flames: Host Winnipeg on Wednesday night. John Tavares needed to post only one picture on his Twitter account to explain the grip the Maple Leafs have had on him since he was a youngster growing up in suburban Toronto. The photo featured a not-yet-10-year-old Tavares in bed, asleep on a pillowcase and under a blanket adorned with Maple Leafs logos, and accompanied by a note that read: ”Not everyday you can live a childhood dream.”In bidding farewell to the New York Islanders, where he was the captain and face of the franchise since being drafted with the No. 1 pick in 2009, Tavares chose Toronto and agreed to a seven-year, $77 million contract about an hour after the NHL’s free-agency signing period opened Sunday. The 27-year-old Tavares spent last week assessing offers from the Islanders Henrik Lundqvist Jersey Kids , San Jose, Toronto, Dallas, Tampa Bay and Boston. He called his decision the toughest of his life in choosing between staying in New York or taking ”a calculated leap of faith into an opportunity I believe will be special to me and my family.”In the end, he was unable to avoid the lure Toronto presented, and informed the Maple Leafs he had chosen them late Saturday night.”I just felt this opportunity was just so rare, the timing of where the organization’s at, and obviously the connection being from here,” Tavares said. ”I really believe there’s a big window here to win, to be part of something special. It just felt right.”Tavares, whose 306 points over the past four seasons rank sixth among players over that span, was the highest-profile player to hit the market since the Minnesota Wild signed both Zach Parise and Ryan Suter to matching 13-year, $98 million contracts.Tavares’ signing led to a domino effect in player movement.Toronto lost two forwards in free agency. James van Riemsdyk left the Maple Leafs after six seasons to return to Philadelphia, where he signed a five-year, $35 million contract. The Leafs also lost center Tyler Bozak, who signed a three-year, $15 million contract with St. Louis, which later on beefed up down the middle by acquiring Ryan O’Reilly in a blockbuster trade with the Buffalo Sabres. Some of money the Lightning saved by not landing Tavares was spent on signing defenseman Ryan McDonagh to a seven-year, $47.25 million extension, which kicks in next summer.Paul Stastny caused another ripple of moves in the Western Conference. He left Winnipeg to sign a three-year, $19.5 million contract with the Stanley Cup finalist Vegas Golden Knights – a spot left open after David Perron returned to St. Louis by signing a four-year, $16 million deal.Vegas forward James Neal is among the more high-profile free agents still unsigned. In Nashville, the Predators will turn their attention to negotiating a contract extension with defenseman Ryan Ellis Jimmy Vesey Jersey , who is entering the final year of his contract. The Ottawa Senators are expected to do the same with their captain, Erik Karlsson.Tavares’ signing has the potential of shifting the balance of power in the Eastern Conference. He joins a young, talented group that already features Auston Matthews, the 2016 draft’s No. 1 pick, a veteran presence in Patrick Marleau and a top coach in Mike Babcock. The Leafs, who haven’t won a championship since their last Stanley Cup Final appearance in 1967, have made strides in three years since Babcock’s arrival. Toronto has made the playoffs in each of the past two seasons after qualifying just once in the previous 11. And yet, they have not advanced past the first round since 2004.Tavares specifically referenced Matthews and 21-year-old center Mitchell Marner, who led the Leafs with 69 points last season as reasons to be optimistic.”They’ve accomplished so much in such little time. You can only think about the trajectory they’re on, and that’s what gets me excited,” Tavares said. The Islanders experienced struggles even with Tavares by qualifying for the playoffs just three times in nine seasons. Now they face a daunting uphill climb minus their unquestioned leader and point-a-game producer. In a bid to retain Tavares, the team underwent an organizational makeover in recent months. They hired Lou Lamoriello as president of hockey operations and fresh Stanley Cup winner Barry Trotz as coach.”The New York Islanders would like to thank John Tavares for everything he has done for the franchise throughout his nine seasons,” Lamoriello said in a statement released by the team. ”We wish him and his family all the best.”Bruins GM Don Sweeney expressed one lament in losing out on signing Tavares.”I would have preferred it not be in our division,” Sweeney said, referring to Tavares making the switch from the Metropolitan to Atlantic Division. ”We put our best foot forward. It just didn’t fall our way.”Other notable deals:-Veteran defenseman Jack Johnson signed a five-year, $16.25 million contract with Pittsburgh. The 31-year-old Johnson is a 12-year NHL veteran, who spent the past six-plus seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets.-The Colorado Avalanche added two former Blue Jackets in signing defenseman Ian Cole and forward Matt Calvert to three-year deals. Cole gets $12.75 million and Calvert gets $8.4 million.-The Sabres filled a need at goaltender by signing former St. Louis Blues backup Carter Hutton to a three-year, $8.25 million deal. Hutton will share the starting duties with Linus Ullmark, who is pegged to make the jump to Buffalo after three seasons in the minors.-The Arizona Coyotes signed All-Star defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson to an eight-year contract extension that averages $8.25 million per year.-The San Jose Sharks announced a $64 million, eight-year extension with center Logan Couture.-The New York Rangers agreed to sign restricted free-agent forward Vladislav Namestnikov to a two-year, $8 million deal.—AP Sports Writer Jimmy Golen, in Boston and freelance writer Denis P. Oshie and beat Sergei Bobrovsky with 43 seconds left to lift the Washington Capitals over the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 on Tuesday night.Brandon Dubinsky tied the score for Columbus late in the third period and the game appeared headed to overtime before a wide-open Backstrom snapped in a shot from the bottom of the right circle.”Oshie picked it up and fed me back door,” said Backstrom, who got his 12th goal and 40th point of the season. The goal capped a game in which Columbus was the dominant team on offense, outshooting the Capitals 39-25. But the Blue Jackets squandered four power plays, two of them late in the final period.Braden Holtby made 37 saves, and John Carlson and Tom Wilson added goals as Washington rallied to break a two-game skid and hang onto first place in the Metropolitan Division.Backstrom gave the credit to Holtby.”In the third there where we needed him the most, he really stepped up and showed why he’s the best goalie in the league,” Backstrom said. ”That’s just the way he is. When you need him the most Josh Bailey Jersey , that’s when he steps up.”Bobrovsky had 22 saves for the Blue Jackets, who have lost four in a row and nine of 11. They’re still in playoff contention, but so are all the teams in the division.”A kick in the stomach,” coach John Tortorella said. ”That one hurts.”Washington (31-17-5) won the first leg of a home-and-home this week with Columbus (27-22-4).David Savard got his fourth goal of the season 1:58 into the game with a rocket from the high slot that beat Holtby. It took the Caps only about three minutes to even the score, taking advantage of one of the worst penalty-killing teams in the NHL. Carlson got his eighth of the season on a power play with a hard one-timer from beyond the right circle.Wilson gave the Capitals a 2-1 lead five minutes into the second. Skating fast into the slot, he got a crisp pass from Alex Ovechkin and tapped a backhand between Bobrovsky’s pads before the goalie could get all the way down to the ice.On the other end, Holtby was solid. The Blue Jackets outshot Washington 17-7 in the second period. They went hard to the net repeatedly but were unable to get the puck to bounce their way.Holtby kept them in it, and Backstrom won it.”That was more of the playoff, determined feel that we want from our hockey club Brady Skjei Jersey , and the way we want to play the game,” Oshie said. ”They tied it up late and no one (hung) their head. Both got five minutes in the box. … Backstrom is the fifth player in Washington history to reach 200 goals … Evgeny Kuznetsov, with a secondary assist on Wilson’s goal, has seven points in the last five games. … D Taylor Chorney and forward Chandler Stephenson were scratches for the Capitals. … The Blue Jackets scratched D Scott Harrington and forward Markus Hannikainen.UP NEXTCapitals: Hosts Columbus on Friday.Blue Jackets: At Washington on Friday.— VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — The slumping Canucks held the Stars scoreless for 50 minutes but couldn’t close it out.Alex Radulov scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period as the Dallas edged Vancouver 2-1 on Saturday.Jamie Benn also scored midway through the third for the Stars, who are 3-1-1 in their last five games.Ben Bishop made 24 saves in his first start since returning from a lower-body injury that kept him sidelined for five games.“You’ve got to be able to close out games if you want to be a good team,” said Bishop. “It’s not always going to be pretty http://www.officialblackhawksproshop.com/authentic-adidas-artem-anisimov-jersey , but we found a way to do it tonight.“You’ve just got to find ways. Finding different ways to win makes you a better team.”Bo Horvat scored for the Canucks, who have only one win in their past 12. Anders Nilsson made 25 saves for Vancouver.“This is a game that in my mind we lost down the stretch,” Vancouver coach Travis Green said. “Their veteran guys took over. It happens fast and momentum changes. We played a real stingy game for 50 minutes and all of sudden their guys smelled blood. We cracked earlier than they did.”“It’s a real tough way to lose. It’s a game we’ll learn more from than some of the other losses.”Radulov’s winner came with 3:23 left in the game. Benn found the Russian winger skating in alone in the slot, and Radulov backhanded it in to quiet the crowd.Benn and Tyler Seguin were the busiest Stars offensively, swarming Nilsson all night. Nilsson was forced to make several strong saves against the duo, including a jaw-dropping glove grab against Seguin in the first.Benn said his near-misses only made him more determined.“It makes you hungrier,” said Benn. “We had a lot (of chances) in the first and second that weren’t going in. I like how we stuck with it and found a way.”Nilsson was impressive in the first. He faced only six shots, but made several strong saves, including a jaw-dropping glove grab to deny Dallas forward Tyler Seguin. The Canucks got on the board with just over four minutes to play in the first. Winger Antoine Roussel Brandon Saad Jersey , a former Star, broke away along the wing and lobbed a rolling puck to Horvat, who got enough stick on it to beat Bishop.“It’s a matter of putting the full 60 together,” Horvat said. “The first and second we had our chances, with lots of shots on net. But no excuse — we need to be better.”Bishop was solid at the other end in the second when he stopped Brock Boeser on a breakaway.“I wanted to go five-hole, but he read me like a book,” said Boeser. “It’s tough obviously, that play goes through my head a lot after the game and I’ll be thinking about it.”Nilsson did the same to Blake Comeau with a glove save. The Canucks netminder faced the Stars’ power play in the final two minutes of the second, but preserved the one-goal lead.Seguin and Benn Brent Seabrook Jersey Kids , doing most of the offensive work with seven of the Stars’ 17 shots through two periods, swarmed Nilsson early in the third. But a tripping penalty on Jason Spezza put Dallas on the defensive, forcing the Stars to kill Vancouver’s fourth power play of the game.Benn finally tied it 1-1 at 10:19 of the third. After a shot from the point by Miro Heiskanen bounced through traffic at the net, Benn swooped around the back of the net and banged in the loose puck at the side.UP NEXTStars: Host Edmonton on Monday night.Canucks: Host Minnesota on Tuesday night.

Today the Raiders host the Indianapolis Colts in Oakland. The last time these two teams met, the Colts ruined all of our lives by sacking Raiders QB Derek Carr and breaking his leg, robbing the Raiders of a full-strength playoff game. Carr hasn’t really been the same since. But today, it seems as though the youth movement in Oakland has begun. Gareon Conley and Karl Joseph should get plenty of snaps, and the offensive line is very young as well. This was a nationally televised catastrophe of a game, and NFL fans across the country knew it would be before the game even played. It was literally laughed at and ridiculed as the worst mid-season nationally televised match up anybody could remember and it played out even worse than that. The hope was that two bad teams would have been able to be competitive with each other, but there is a bad team with the 49ers and something much worse with the Oakland Raiders. What this team put out on that football field last night was nothing short of pathetic. It was embarrassing to even watch, I can’t even imagine how the players must feel about it. There was absolutely no heart in this team at all Authentic Tahir Whitehead Jersey , they looked like they quit before they even stepped on the field. This was as bad of a trouncing as you will ever see in the NFL, and it came at the hands of a fellow 1 win team starting their 3rd string quarterback nobody had even heard of.Nick Mullens came out of this game looking like Joe Montana 2.0 against this monstrosity of an Oakland Raiders defense. He had 263 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 16 of 22 passes. After the Raiders just gave up 42 points against the Colts last Sunday and having to turn around and play again 4 days later you knew it had the chance to get ugly, but this was worst than even the biggest pessimist had expected. It does go to show how awful these Thursday Night Football games have been though and how the NFL absolutely has to do something to figure it out. This is not a product that the NFL wants to see in a nationally televised game, this isn’t even the product they’d want to show in a blacked out game that only a tiny bit of the country would have seen. They should consider only having teams play on Thursday’s that are coming off of a bye week because this 4 days rest bullshit often leaves at least one of the teams completely drained. There really wasn’t much of a question that the team that went into this game completely drained was going to be the Raiders though. The offense last week just completely played their hearts out and still ended up losing by 2 touchdowns and the defense had gotten decimated by the Colts. It would have taken an epic coaching job to get them ready for a 4 day turnover, and this current roster is not likely to be enjoying Jon Gruden’s coaching enough for that to have been possible.Still, they needed to show some semblance of an NFL roster at the very least. Whatever this was it wasn’t that. If you had no idea about where these two teams were coming into this game you would have thought the 49ers were the Super Bowl favorites with how this game played out, not one of the few teams in serious consideration for the 1st overall pick in next year’s draft. The offensive line was absolutely terrible, but what the hell is Derek Carr thinking when the pocket starts collapsing? It’s like his only instinct is to run forward directly into the collapsing pocket and would be tacklers. He doesn’t seem to even consider the possibility of running outside of the pocket http://www.oaklandraidersteamonline.com/johnny-townsend-jersey , he just runs straight into the mouth of the beast that is swallowing him whole. To give up 7 sacks is atrocious no matter which way you slice it though. If Carr is going to be the QB for future Raiders teams then he needs to spend the entire off-season watching Aaron Rodgers and how he avoids sacks with his footwork. It’s not all on Derek Carr for those sacks by any means though, he had no time to throw the ball the entire night. The offensive line seemed more like bull fighters than offensive linemen in this one with how quickly the defenders got past them. Ole!In another terrible performance of the Raiders to point out, how can rookie punter Johnny Townsend possibly still have a job with this team? He had one good punt that went 48 yards and still managed to only average 37.5 yards per punt. His worst punt was from the San Francisco 47 yard line and only went 23 yards before being downed at the 24. There is no way he deserves to still have a job in Oakland, he needs to have been let go weeks ago. This game isn’t even worth continuing to point out anything from though because it was just that bad. This is the type of game that some coaches would just burn the tape and not even bother showing the players because it’s just so bad that there really isn’t much to even say about it. Every aspect of the team was terrible, if Jon Gruden was a normal first year coach he’d have been fired Lane Kiffin style directly after this monstrosity had ended. However, Gruden is not a normal first year coach and we are in it for the long haul with him. He isn’t playing for this year, he is doing everything with this team for the future that he envisions and that future will not have most of these players in it. The players know that too, which is why they had no heart at all in a 4 day turnaround from their last game played. At least now they have 10 days before they have to get on the field again so they can ice up their physical ailments and their mental ones for a little bit longer than normal now. Their next game is a divisional rivalry game against the Chargers at home so it doesn’t get any easier. This season might go down as the worst of all of these horrible seasons since Gruden left the first time Womens Gabe Jackson Jersey , and it’s probably the last that these Oakland fans will get to see. They deserve better than this, so hopefully they at least get the competitive version of this awful Raiders team next week against Los Angeles. The good news is that it truly does not get worse than the game they just played at Levi Stadium. The bad news is that they can play much better than this and still be completely humiliated. It’s going to be a long season folks, but at least we have next year’s draft to be happy for.

Razzle dazzle worked for the Miami Dolphins when little else went right.Injuries depleted their front four http://www.oaklandraidersteamonline.com/seth-roberts-jersey , and penalties became a problem. The ground game disappeared, and the defense wearied on a 90-degree afternoon as the Oakland Raiders hogged the ball. But Miami coach Adam Gase took advantage of speedy receivers Albert Wilson and Jakeem Grant with creative play-calling, and the Dolphins overcame a 10-point deficit in the final 16 minutes Sunday to beat winless Oakland 28-20 ."Sometimes it's not going to be pretty," quarterback Ryan Tannehill said. "You have to have the grit and togetherness to stick it through and find a way to win."The surprising Dolphins (3-0) have done that every week so far, setting up an early-season AFC East showdown Sunday at New England. Here are things to know about Miami's latest win:EXOTICS: Wilson and Grant scored on jet sweeps, with each taking a short toss from Tannehill in the backfield and turning the corner into the clear. But the best bit of trickery was Wilson's pass — the first of his NFL career — to Grant for a 52-yard score that put Miami ahead to stay. The source of the play? Gase's mentor, former St. Louis Rams coach Mike Martz."Just straight thievery," Gase said. "I mean we stole it. It's an old Martz play. Nobody watches his old stuff. They might now."WINLESS: The Raiders fell to 0-3 under new coach Jon Gruden Womens Donald Penn Jersey , and have lost seven in a row dating to last season. Running back Marshawn Lynch, who rarely comments publicly, offered words of encouragement for Oakland fans."Most of our players are playmakers," Lynch said. "Just one juke or spin move, or step out of one tackle, and we'll have a different ballgame."Oakland plays at home Sunday against Cleveland.KEEPAWAY: The Dolphins scored four touchdowns in just 39 plays. Oakland ran 74 and had a 17-minute advantage in time of possession."It was like death by a thousand paper clips," Gase said.Oakland's ball-control approach took a toll on a Miami front four that lost three players. Akeem Spence was ejected, and William Hayes and Andre Branch suffered knee injuries. That left Miami with only six defensive linemen on a sweltering afternoon."They were gassed Womens Kelechi Osemele Jersey ," Gase said. "They were fighting, though. That's why I love our locker room."The Dolphins also overcame nine penalties for 74 yards, and won even though their running backs totaled 15 yards on 11 carries.TAKEAWAY: Cornerback Xavien Howard intercepted Oakland's Derek Carr twice deep in Miami territory. Howard outmaneuvered intended receiver Martavis Bryant on the second pick, when the Raiders were on the verge of regaining the lead with three minutes to go."I saw one on one with Martavis, and I took a chance," Carr said. "They just made a good play."Said Howard: "It was game-changing. It meant everything. It took the soul out of them when I caught the interception."Two plays later, Wilson scored on a 74-yard catch and run to seal Miami's win.The Dolphins have seven interceptions. They totaled nine all of last year.TAKING A TOLL: Gruden — among others — appeared physically drained by the subtropical heat."It affected me," he said. "It was hot. It was hot for them Womens Justin Ellis Jersey , too."Raiders tackle Donald Penn (concussion) and safety Karl Joseph (lower leg) sat out the second half. Receiver-returner Dwayne Harris (dehydration) required an IV.For Miami, tight end A.J. Derby (foot) sat out the second half, and cornerback Bobby McCain was shaken up in the final minutes.Follow Steven Wine on Twitter: ://Steve_Wine. Each week that passes, the Raiders draft prospects increase. They keep losing and the teams who they are competing with for draft position keep winning. Well, except for one team. And that is the only team that is keeping them from currently being in position for the number one overall pick. But take heart, Raiders fans. The Raiders have three first round picks. Their own being the highest, but also the Cowboys and Bears picks. The Cowboys is looking like it will be pretty high as well. Here are the Raiders picks in the first three rounds according to tankathon.com. Last Thursday’s loss to the previously one-win 49ers and their loss to the previously one-win Cardinals the week before that saw to that. As it happens, the Giants will face the 49ers this week on Monday Night Football. So, Raiders fans will have plenty of reason to watch and cheer for them to get their second win of the season. This week the Raiders face the Chargers for the second time this season. They were blown out 26-10 last time, as part of the Chargers current 5-game win streak and starting the Raiders’ current 4-game losing streak.Key draft order games this week:Team to the left is whose win would help Raiders draft positionDetroit Lions at Chicago Bears (25)Cleveland Browns (6) vs Atlanta FalconsArizona Cardinals (5) at Kansas City ChiefsBuffalo Bills (4) at New York JetsLos Angeles Chargers at Oakland Raiders (2)Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys (10)New York Giants (1) at San Francisco 49ers (3)Follow @LeviDamien

Worley was replaced against the Rams by expected starter, Gareon Conley, who missed the first preseason game recovering from a hip injury. But with him back, he got the start and all the other three remained the same.It was interesting to note this. Jon Gruden gave his explanation for it Monday.“We wanted to see a little bit of Conley, obviously. He hasn’t had the pads on very much in the last year, so we got him 8 or 9 snaps. He’ll get a little bit more this week,” said Gruden. “Just wanted to take a look at Melvin. He did some good things against the Lions, again just for a couple series, 8 to 10 snaps. I wanted to see a little bit more of Reggie Nelson. Needed his leadership back there. Gilchrist was still out. We had a lot of young guys playing, so we wanted to have Reggie back there calling the shots. We held Leon Hall [out] obviously Authentic Leon Hall Jersey , because we wanted to see some other guys play the nickel position.”My primary feeling with regard to this decision was the concern about the secondary and the uncertainty at the safety position specifically. And with the rumors the Raiders could show interest in recently released Bengals safety George Iloka, that feeling of uncertainty at the position is magnified. “It’s very competitive,” Gruden said of the safety spot. “I think Erik Harris has had a good camp. I think Marcus Gilchrist has been a good player. We haven’t seen him, hopefully we get him back out here today. Reggie Nelson certainly, and Karl Joseph give us four guys that have been working in the rotation, but we haven’t settled on anything yet.”All of these players come with question marks. Harris is coming out of nowhere as a former special teams player. Gilchrist is a journeyman who is a jack of all trades, master of none. Nelson will turn 35 next month. And Karl Joseph has not stepped up as hoped for the former top pick. It’s clear those four safeties are leading the way, but Gruden doesn’t sound all that confident in that.Follow @LeviDamien

Detroit Lions cornerback Darius Slay misses Wednesday’s practice The Detroit Lions took the field on Wednesday afternoon for their first day of practice in preparation for their Week 3 matchup against the New England Patriots. Unfortunately for the Lions Youth Taylor Decker Jersey , they were without one of their best players. Cornerback Darius Slay, who left Sunday’s game against the 49ers with a concussion, was not in attendance during Wednesday’s practice. This suggests that Slay is not yet at Stage 4 of the concussion protocol. According to the league’s concussion protocol, a player must go through five different steps of recovery—nicely outlined by MLive’s Nate Atkins here. Step 4 is “football-specific activities” which includes non-contact drills at practice. In order to be cleared for Sunday’s practice, Slay must also be cleared for full contact practice. So if Slay can’t even participate in non-contract drills by Thursday, it seems unlikely he’ll play this week. The Lions made a proactive move on Wednesday, signing defensive back DeShawn Shead back to the team. Shead spent training camp with the Lions competing for the No. 2 corner position with Nevin Lawson and Teez Tabor, eventually losing the job to both and getting cut. Considering Lawson and Tabor’s struggles through two weeks, we may see Shead play regardless of whether Slay returns or not. As noted by Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, history is not on Slay’s side here. Six different Lions players suffered concussions last season Youth Christian Jones Jersey , and only one was able to return the following week. However, Glover Quin, the one exception, had an extra week to recover because of the bye week. The Lions did get a big of good news, however. Starting right guard T.J. Lang, who missed all of last week’s practice with a back injury, returned to the field on Wednesday. Full injury designations will be given later Wednesday afternoon. After giving up 13 sacks in the first seven games of the season, things have gone off the rails in pass protection for the Lions the last two weeks. They’ve allowed 16 sacks in lopsided losses to the Vikings and Bears that leave the Lions at 3-6 and looking up at the rest of the NFC North. It’s also led to questions about whether the constant pressure has led to a drop in play for quarterback Matthew Stafford.Stafford is on pace for career worsts on a variety of fronts, but offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter initially said that a perspective on how Stafford’s played is “sort of Detroit Lions information.” Cooter opened up a bit more on the topic of whether pressure was changing the quarterback’s play later in his media session.“No, Stafford’s a really tough guy www.detroitlionsteamonline.com ,” Cooter said, via MLive.com.聽“Obviously offensively, I have to do a better job and we have to do a better job of protecting our quarterback through playcalling, scheme, execution, all those things. At the end of the day, we have to get that number down and do a better job with that. Stafford hangs in there. Stafford’s a tough guy. He’ll take a hit when needed. We just need to do a better job of protecting him. It starts with me, I have to improve the way we’re going about doing that and fix some of those errors.”The Lions face the Panthers this week and Carolina’s defense has produced 22 sacks so far this season. If Detroit can’t stop them from padding that total, it’s hard to imagine a different result from the last couple of weeks.

Detroit Lions Week 1 injury update: What we know about Ezekiel Ansah http://www.detroitlionsteamonline.com/quandre-diggs-jersey , T.J. Lang, Matthew Stafford Monday night wasn’t just a disaster in terms of performance on the field for the Detroit Lions. They also dealt with injuries to some key players. Matthew Stafford, Ezekiel Ansah, T.J. Lang and Darius Slay all missed time against the New York Jets. While we won’t know the full status of any of these players until the first injury report of the week (expected Wednesday), here’s what we know about each of their statuses as of Monday night.Matthew StaffordStafford suffered two injuries. First, his leg got stepped on by Taylor Decker, leaving him with very limited mobility for a single drive. However, he didn’t miss any time because of the injury and he looked much more comfortable on his leg as the game went on.But not much later, Stafford took a brutal hit simultaneously low and to his midsection. Stafford stayed down for some time after the play, and ended up missing a couple plays.Stafford would end up coming back in, but was pulled when the game was well out of hand.Where things stand now: It looks like Stafford is relatively fine. He’s not expected to miss any time, and he told reporters after the game, “I’ll be okay.”UPDATE: Stafford gave more details on the radio Tuesday, and it seems like he’ll be just fine: Ezekiel AnsahAfter just 19 defensive snaps, Ansah left the game with a shoulder injury. He went into the locker room, and it didn’t appear he ever returned to the field. Though he was first listed as questionable to return with the shoulder injury, he was eventually downgraded to out. Where things stand now: After the game, head coach Matt Patricia could not give an update on Ansah’s condition.“We’ve got to go in there and take a look at it and see what’s going on,” Patricia said. We’ll hopefully know more early this week.T.J. LangIf you skipped out on the game early, you probably didn’t even know T.J. Lang suffered an injury. He missed just one offensive snap for the game (the final kneel down), but the team officially announced that he was questionable to return with a back injury. Where things stand now: We don’t know, but this is obviously a very concerning injury. Not only did Lang miss the entire preseason, but he also missed time last season with a back injury. There’s no word on whether this is the same kind of back injury, but for a player that has struggled with staying healthy since landing in Detroit, this isn’t a great start to the season.Darius SlaySlay took a friendly-fire hit to the head when Ansah landed on him in the first quarter of the game. Though it looked bad at the time Womens Kenny Golladay Jersey , the team evaluated him for a concussion, and he was cleared. He was in for the very next defensive drive. Where things stand now: Head injuries are always tricky, and we’ve seen symptoms show up hours or even days after a player suffers a concussion, so Slay isn’t necessarily clear from the injury. However, he sent out an optimistic tweet after the game:Lions vs. Browns stock report: Beaten badly by Browns backups When the Lions were booed off the field at a 25-0 halftime, many of you probably turned off your televisions or switched to a college game. We here at Pride of Detroit, we go the extra mile. We watched the entire game, so you didn’t have to. We don’t do it for praise, we’re just that dedicated to giving you the best Lions coverage and...are you still reading this? Maybe you did watch the whole game. Anyway, here’s the final preseason stock report, now keep in mind that this is all in the context of the 4th preseason game, many of these guys will still be out of a job in a few days even if they played well. Stock Up: DeShawn Shead, CBNevin Lawson and Darius Slay took turns against the Buccaneers trying to look as bad as they could. DeShawn Shead hasn’t been playing much due to an unknown injury, but now that he’s back in the lineup there’s renewed hope they won’t stink up the football field in the secondary. Shead looked comfortable and aggressive both in coverage and against the run, traits this team is going to need with that front 7. Stock Down: Anthony Zettel, DEAnthony Zettel seemed to play every single snap in the first half of the fourth preseason. At first, we were left questioning why, as this often means a roster spot is in jeopardy. Then the run plays started and we were reminded of why. Zettel is absolutely dreadful setting the edge, the Lions run defense banjaxed every time a running back ends up in Zettel’s vicinity. It’s not very likely he’s on the chopping block, but while we were thinking Abdullah was going to be showcased for trade it may have been Zettel. A showcase he’d probably like back. Stock Up: Eli Harold, LBEli Harold was brought in to add a run defense element the team lacked on the edge, and we waited in anticipation to see a linebacker shed a block to make a tackle. Sure enough, Harold did just that, showing that he can be the edge setter we haven’t seen from other Lions defenders. His pass rush wasn’t as impressive, but for what he was brought in to do Womens Graham Glasgow Jersey , he did well, and should have locked in his roster spot.Stock Down: Jonathan Freeney, LBI had imagined Freeney a lock for the roster with how the team has been using him this preseason, though not very high on the depth chart. Freeney did everything in his power against the Browns to make his case for another team’s roster, with penalties, terrible coverage, and poor run angles. He was the worst linebacker on the field for either team, and it may be an instance of playing yourself off a roster rather than playing your way on.Stock Up: Mike Ford, CBIn one of the sloppiest, poorly played games in quite a while, it seemed like nobody was really fighting for their job. Mike Ford, on the other hand, was working his tail off trying to show he’s worth a roster spot. Both in coverage and as a tackler, Ford was flashing later in the game. He’s a long shot to make the roster due to the depth at the position, but he’s not going to be an easy cut and stash, either. Stock Down: Brandon Powell, WRAfter an impressive preseason, Powell looked like he may be closing in on a roster spot. Leading the team in receiving and showing impressive return skills, a strong showing may have made the decision tough for Bob Quinn even with a limited role on the team for game days. As it is, Powell was done no favors by Jake Rudock, but failed to establish himself even when other receivers started showing out. His lack of speed showed up on a few returns as well, and his previous spark seems to have fizzled badly in the final presason contest.Quick HitsStock UpAmeer Abdullah, RB - Abdullah didn’t play in this one, which is as sure a sign as any that he’s either already on the roster or a trade partner is already found. Jace Billingsley, WR - Billingsley has been supplanted for the most part in Detroit Womens Devon Kennard Jersey , but he flashed at times in this one enough to put other teams on notice.Freddie Bishop, LB - Bishop has tapered off in play since he first burst on the scene here, but it was a good ending to his time in Detroit if he doesn’t make the roster.Tyrell Crosby, OT - Crosby was the only ‘starting’ offensive lineman that consistently looked good, and is likely entering the season the top reserve for the team.Josh Fatu, NT - It may have taken three and a half full preseason games to finally show up, but Fatu finally made a play that may help his practice squad chances.Dontez Ford, WR - Ford often struggles to separate and isn’t an explosive athlete, but he’s very tough to take down when he gets the ball and he flashed in this one.Cam Johnson, LB - Johnson hasn’t looked good this preseason, but he wasn’t terrible in this one. Sadly for fans, that may be enough to make the roster. Good for Johnson, though.Marcus Lucas, TE - Lucas was a no show for most of the game but had a boss of a block on the late Jake Rudock run near the end zone. Dwayne Washington, RB - Having barely played this preseason, and even then as the final RB on the roster, Washington is out of here. But he did well auditioning for another squad.Stock DownAlex Barrett, LB/DE - Barrett has slowly lost ground every time the team saw action, and playing late in the 4th preseason game that trend continued.Trevor Bates, LB - Bates was a long shot to make the roster, but missing plays in the run game like he did in this one are not how you make your case.Wesley Johnson, IOL - Johnson has been one of the worst offensive linemen this preseason and this kind of game is not a way to make up that lost ground.Chris Jones, CB - Jones had an outside chance to make this roster, but his performance against the Browns all but ensured his spot is probably on the practice squad.Leo Koloamatangi, OC - Koloamatangi has had a good preseason Authentic Marvin Jones Jr Jersey , but this was not a good way to end it. Like badly missing the final note of an opera, it’s all you’ll remember.Brian Mihalik, OT - If there were ever any doubt that Mihalik wasn’t making the roster, he dispelled those doubts in this one. Rolan Milligan, SS - Was bad. Then got hurt.Sterling Moore, CB - Moore didn’t get much work that I saw until late in the game. That’s not how you use guys you’re evaluating for actual work, even though he had a nice pass breakup in the 3rd quarter.Teo Redding, WR - Redding got some play as a returner and did poorly. He’s likely headed to the practice squad, in part due to plays like his leaping grab through defensive pass interference late in the game. Get him a QB who can throw.Christian Ringo, DT - Ringo has been moved around a bit while the Lions tried to find a good fit for him. That fit is likely somewhere else. A’Shawn Robinson, DT - Playing into the 4th preseason as a former starter is a bad sign. Failing to play well against that kind of competition as a former starter is damning.Jake Rudock, QB - Rudock was already pretty well edged out as the QB2 in Detroit, but getting benched in the 4th preseason game is a whole new level of bad. He had a bit of a late game surge, but it was too little, too late.Teez Tabor, CB - Tabor playing into the 4th preseason game wasn’t surprising, as he needed it. Playing as inconsistently as he did is a bad sign for his usage in 2018.Zach Zenner, RB - Wasn’t good, then got hurt and had to leave. SummaryWell, it was a pretty gross game overall. Normally in the last preseason game we get to see guys playing for their spots the following season as much as trying to find a spot on the current roster, but almost nobody in this one looks like they want to be on an NFL roster. But hey, maybe I’m wrong. What do you think of our final preseason stock report? Too harsh on some, let others slide? Let us know in the comments, if you aren’t already down there angrily posting about someone you felt I got wrong!

Film Room: Eli Harold brings much-needed help to Detroit but has flaws of his own The Detroit Lions added some much needed depth to their linebacking corps on Thursday morning when they finalized a trade that brought in the San Francisco 49ers’ Eli Harold for a conditional seventh-round pick. Harold is entering his fourth year in the NFL after spending the first three with the 49ers who drafted him in the third round of the 2015 draft. The former Virginia Cavalier played in all 16 games last season and started in 11 of them. He recorded 34 total tackles in 2017 along with two sacks.Harold lined up primarily as a strong side linebacker in San Francisco and filled a hybrid role between outside linebacker and defensive end. When watching him on film it becomes immediately apparent why the Lions traded for him. Detroit had a terrible run defense in 2017 and much of it was due to the inability of the team’s edge defenders to contain runs on the inside. These issues have haunted Detroit so far in preseason Womens Customized Detroit Lions Jerseys , as they’ve been continuously gashed by the likes of UDFA running back Chris Warren and even New York Giants third string quarterback Kyle Lauletta. Harold’s most valuable skill is his ability to set the edge and force runs back inside, which he showed on this play against the Philadelphia Eagles last season. Eagles, and now Detroit Lions, running back LeGarrette Blount takes the hand off out of the backfield and tries to take the run to the left edge. Harold strongly forces his way into his opponent’s backfield and blocks off the running back’s lane. Blount is forced to cut back as his primary read is snuffed out, and the 49ers defense rushes him down for a 4-yard loss on the play.Harold was great at getting outside positioning on the opposing team’s tackle and causing a traffic jam to force the running back somewhere else. He was very disciplined against play action as well and rarely was caught chasing ghosts in the backfield. The Lions run defense has been devastatingly bad so far this season and this infusion of talent should help the front seven greatly. While Harold is a great run defender, he does not bring much else to the table. In a league as pass heavy as the NFL, being able to rush and put pressure on the passer is more valuable than anything. The linebacker has the speed and burst necessary to be a good pass rusher, and he shows it on occasion.https://gfycat.com/gifs/detail/ImportantFocusedButterflyIf Harold is given any sort of free run at the opposing quarterback, then he can storm into the backfield for a sack. The issue is that it’s rare that opposing teams make it that easy for him. The linebacker does not really have any pass rushing moves in his arsenal and relies entirely on pinning his ears back and speed rushing the quarterback. If he runs into a blocker and he can’t just brute force his way through the man in front of him, then he generally just gives up on the play.He is a very raw pass rusher and the fact that he still has not developed much at all after three years in the NFL is a worrying sign for his long-term future. If he cannot fill the most important role of his position www.lionscheapstore.com , then there is no way that he can be a regular contributor in this league long term. One of the biggest flaws the Lions linebacking corps has had the past few years is their failures in pass coverage. While a strong side linebacker generally does not take as much responsibility for pass coverage as the middle or weakside linebackers, he still needs to do better their as well. The 49ers rarely used Harold in man coverage (and when they did he wasn’t very good) and primarily sent him to cover the flats and shallower routes in zone coverage when he was in the game on pass plays. He struggles getting out there at times, though, and would often get caught ball watching and let the man he was assigned to cover slip right by him.His failures as both a pass rusher and in coverage caused the 49ers to take him off the field on passing downs. He was specifically in the game to defend the run, and if he ever happened to be in the game on a pass play, he was assigned to cover a zone where his mistakes would have the least impact. Despite his listed role as a starter he only played over 50 percent of the team’s weekly defensive snaps four times in 2017.While Harold provides Detroit with much needed utility against the run, there is a reason they were able to snag him for only a conditional seventh-round pick. He will most likely back up Devon Kennard this season and only take the field to relieve Kennard when he needs rest. It is hard to see him as a part of the long-term plans in the Motor City, but with such a low price tag it is hard to expect much more anyways. Sunday was a breakthrough performance; not just for Kerryon Johnson, but the entire Detroit Lions running game. We haven’t seen that kind of rushing attack for quite some time. There are so many ways to quantify how impressive the Lions’ 248-yard performance was against the Dolphins, but instead of pointing out just one or two Justin Tucker-esque eye-opening statistics Detroit Lions T-Shirt , let’s dump a whole bunch of them in one spot and revel in the awesomeness of having established a running game.Team statsThe Lions’ 248 rushing yards on Sunday was the the third-best rushing performance (by yards) of any team in the NFL. Of the four teams that have rushed for over 240 yards in a game, the Lions’ 7.1 yards per carry was second best. But the real eye-popping stats come when comparing Sunday’s performance to the franchise’s history:That’s right: The Lions’ rushing performance was the best we’ve seen in nearly 30 years. It was a performance we only saw once during the Barry Sanders era. Sunday was very, very, very special. Even by a pure yardage standpoint, the Lions put up their best effort in 20 years. Their 248 rushing yards was the best team performance since November 23, 1997. Kerryon JohnsonThe man at the forefront of the day also had a pretty special performance. Obviously, he established a number of career highs with 19 rushing attempts, 158 yards and 8.3 yards per carry. However, he set some pretty impressive franchise marks, too. His 77-yard run was the longest this team has seen since... you guessed it: Jahvid Best’s memorable 88-yard touchdown run against the Bears in 2011. It was also the second-longest of any run in the NFL this season. Season statsAll offseason Detroit Lions Hats , Lions fans were saying they’d be ecstatic if Detroit could just get an average running game. Well, I’m sorry to say the Lions do not have an average running game, they have a very good one.Overall, the Lions currently rank 11th in rushing yards, which is just okay. However, when it comes to efficiency stats, they are near the top of the league. Only four teams are better than their 4.9 yards per carry: The Panthers, the Broncos, the 49ers and the Cowboys. As for Mr. Johnson, he’s now eighth in rushing yards (444 Detroit Lions Hoodie , having played fewer games than many of the players above him). There is only a single running back averaging more yards per carry than Kerryon right now. Johnson is at 6.4 yards per carry, while 49ers running back Matt Breida is averaging 6.5. He’s also doing pretty damn well when it comes to advanced statistics. Coming into Week 7, he was already first in Football Outsiders’ DVOA (they update on Tuesdays). And after Sunday’s performance, he’s a top five running back per Pro Football Focus:Welcome to the Offensive Rookie of the Year race, Kerryon.

‘Ready for whatever’: Duke Riley confident in relief of Deion Jones Duke Riley has been rightfully under a microscope Authentic Alex Mack Jersey , and now he prepares to be under the spotlight. Thrust into starting middle linebacker duties in the wake of Deion Jones’ foot injury, Duke displayed confidence ahead of Sunday’s divisional matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Speaking to ESPN’s Vaughn McClure, Riley had the following to say about opposing teams targeting him in Jones’ absence: Confidence is obviously paramount for professional athletes, and it’s good to see the sophomore linebacker with the bleached Kentucky Waterfall projecting an air of comfort and poise heading into this weekend’s game. Onfield execution is, of course, another story. There’s simply no comparable stand-in for Deion Jones, so it’d be foolhardy to attempt to apply that impossible measuring stick to Duke Riley. Jones’ loss is going to hurt: plain and simple. It affects the defensive scheme, it impacts how the moving parts operate on the field, and to the Falcons’ detriment — it has opponents angling to attack a presumed weak link. But Riley http://www.atlantafalconsteamonline.com/matt-bryant-jersey , to his credit, did a serviceable-if-not-satisfactory job in his limited snaps against Philadelphia. He made the most of his opportunities, notably defending what appeared to be a surefire touchdown against tight end Dallas Goedert. Riley delivered a solid jam at the line of scrimmage and blanketed Goedert’s route down the sideline to prevent six points that would have shifted the tide of the game in the second quarter. If Duke Riley has increased his coverage chops, that’s heartening news for an Atlanta Falcons team that’s been whistling past the graveyard all week. Down two burgeoning defensive superstars in Jones and strong safety Keanu Neal, the Falcons are nowhere near an enviable position to be in. It goes without saying that you never want to be looking at 15 games without your team’s linchpins; but good, deep teams find ways to win in spite of circumstance. We’ll find out if the Atlanta Falcons are one of those teams on Sunday, where Duke Riley will assume the role as the team’s starting middle linebacker. The LSU product has elicited more question marks than exclamation points so far in his NFL career, so what to expect might be like a chemist dropping a mystery compound into a beaker. It could be a complementary catalyst. Or it could blow up in our faces. Either way, Duke Riley is exuding confidence ahead of Carolina Womens Logan Paulsen Jersey , and at this point we have no choice but to trust that he’s ready. Washington running back Adrian Peterson missed practice Wednesday, resting his shoulder injury. It does not seem a major concern.Peterson, 33, has averaged 19 touches per game thus far, with 738 yards from scrimmage and five total touchdowns. Coach Jay Gruden doesn’t have a major concern about that either.“I really don鈥檛 ever think about his age or wearing him down,” Gruden said, via quotes distributed by the team. “He’s never come to me or Randy [Jordan] and said, ‘Hey, I need less workload; I need people to come in for me.’ If that happens Womens Terrell McClain Jersey , then sure I will take it off of him, but he’s playing so well right now, when we call a running play, he better be out there. No offense to the other backs that we have, he’s just playing really well, and he’s handling the workload right now.“Every game is different. This week we might have to throw the ball a little more. They might load up the box, and we’ll have to throw it a little bit more, but right now he’s in a great place. He’s still feeling his way through some of these different types of runs that we have and he’s handling them extremely well, and I expect him to be a major part of our offense moving forward. He has to be right now http://www.atlantafalconsteamonline.com/ryan-schraeder-jersey , the way we are throwing the ball. Once we get the balance to where we want it, I think we can be a lot more effective on offense.”Washington had seven other players miss practice Wednesday: receiver Jamison Crowder (ankle), guard Shawn Lauvao (calf), receiver Paul Richardson (shoulder/knee), running back Chris Thompson (rib), safety Montae Nicholson (neck/hip), tackle Trent Williams (thumb/shoulder) and linebacker Ryan Anderson (knee).

Jared Goff’s new audible is pure Hollywood.Audibles are just about my favorite thing in football. Seriously. I love the frantic freneticism of barking out a call at the line of scrimmage Womens Matt Bryant Jersey , I love they have silly name sometimes, I love that in a tense divisional matchup Goff is screaming “HALLE BERRY!” at the line. One person was just a little confused by it all.Ask and you shall receive ... Now you’re probably wondering what this play is. It appears to be a jet sweep with an option pass to the tight end. Goff hit tight end Tyler Higbee on the “Halle Berry” and the Rams gained eight yards. He hit the ... nah, I’ll let y’all do what you will with that information. The best part of all this is that it increases the amazing mystique behind Goff’s audibles. Last year we extolled the virtues of him calling out “Obama,” “Elvis,” “Tupac” and “Ric Flair.” Coach Sean McVay is down with it all too.On ESPN Radio McVay said that he won’t reveal what “Halle Berry” is exactly, but said the play is “definitely a compliment.” Joe Mixon scored on a 4-yard run and dashed toward the stands in celebration of Cincinnati's go-ahead touchdown. On the Steelers sideline, Ben Roethlisberger looked at the clock, saw there was 1:18 left, and told his linemen not to fret."They gave us too much time," Big Ben said confidently.Somehow, the Steelers never run out of time at Paul Brown Stadium.Antonio Brown turned a short catch into a 31-yard touchdown with 10 seconds left Sunday, sending the Steelers to a 28-21 victory over the Bengals. They've now won seven straight against Cincinnati, a streak that includes highly improbable — and totally predictable — wins. The Steelers (3-2-1) sure saw it coming."On the sideline before I went out, I told the guys, 'This is what legacies are made of for all of us. Let's go take care of business Womens att Bosher Jersey ,'" Roethlisberger said.On the decisive play, Roethlisberger saw the Bengals (4-2) were set for an all-out blitz with no safeties guarding the end zone. He knew it would be a touchdown if he got the ball quickly to Brown, who caught it in stride, cut behind Justin Hunter's block and ran untouched to the end zone."We've been in that situation a lot, and I knew we were going to do it," said Brown, who had five catches for 105 yards.During their seven-game winning streak, the Steelers have pulled them out at Paul Brown Stadium with 14 seconds, no seconds, and 10 seconds to go.They rallied to win a first-round playoff game in 2015 — aided by Vontaze Burfict hitting Brown in the head for a costly penalty — on Chris Boswell's field goal with 14 seconds left. Last December, they overcame a 17-point deficit and won on Boswell's field goal as time ran out. Now, this stunner."We're better than them," Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick insisted. "They're not better than us."The statistics say otherwise. The Steelers have won 10 of 11 and 15 of 18 in the lopsided series. Some takeaways from Paul Brown Stadium:IT'S A RACEThe Bengals got an early cushion in the division by knocking off the Ravens and opening 4-1, their best start since they won the division in 2015. The Steelers got off to a ragged start at 1-2-1, but back-to-back wins over the Falcons and Bengals have evened up the division. The Bengals finish the season at Heinz Field.SHOCKING NUMBERSThe Steelers are 16-2 at Paul Brown Stadium during Marvin Lewis' 16 seasons as the Bengals' head coach http://www.falconsfootballauthentics.com/devonta-freeman-jersey-authentic , including playoff victories in 2005 and 2015. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is 20-5 against the Bengals. Andy Dalton is 3-12 against the Steelers, missing that 2015 playoff meltdown with a broken thumb.CONNER'S HISTORYJames Conner ran for 111 yards and a pair of touchdowns, his second straight 100-yard game. Conner joined Hall of Famers Franco Harris (1976) and Jerome Bettis (2004) as the only Steelers to run for seven touchdowns in the first six games of a season, excelling as Le'Veon Bell's replacement. Bell reportedly will end his holdout this week during Pittsburgh's bye."What a great game," Roethlisberger said. "Now I know it's his last game for us, so we're glad he did well in his last one."Roethlisberger laughed, clarifying that he was going entirely off media reports and speculation about what happens when Bell returns.BLITZBURGHAfter getting shredded in September, the Steelers' defense has come around in the last two games. It got six sacks in a 41-17 win over the Falcons and sacked Dalton three times. Pittsburgh limited the Bengals to 123 yards in the second half.BURFICT REPRISEIn his second game back from his latest NFL suspension, Burfict was at the center of the riled-up rivalry. He exchanged words with Roethlisberger 3 minutes into the game. A teammate pushed him away from Conner to help the linebacker avoid a penalty after a touchdown run. In the third quarter, Burfict hit Brown in the head as he was being tackled, but avoided a penalty. The NFL will review the play. In the locker room after the game, Burfict yelled at a reporter who asked another Bengals player about the hit on Brown."A nasty hit," Brown said.

Andrew Whitworth got a win on the field in Week 10 when Los Angeles held off a spirited comeback from the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams’ left tackle was part of a unit that allowed quarterback Jared Goff to be sacked only twice Customized Atlanta Falcons Jerseys , but his greatest contribution came once the game was over. The veteran offensive lineman donated his entire game check to the Ventura County Community Foundation’s Conejo Valley Victims Fund. His donation — approximately $60,000, according to the NFLPA — will go to the families of the 12 victims who lost their lives in a Nov. 10 shooting at the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, California. The Borderline is 45 miles from the Los Angeles Coliseum, but only a five-minute drive from the Rams’ practice facility. It was a move Whitworth had in the works since the hours immediately following the tragedy.“You’re looking for any answer, you’re looking for what can we do to solve this or what can we do to help people that are going through this, in the tragedy, in the moment, there is no perfect way www.authenticsatlantafalcons.com ,” Whitworth said on Thursday, via ESPN. “The way that I believe and operate, I just don’t believe that sitting there wondering is the best way, I believe in finding a way to put your feet on the ground.”The NFL Players Association named Whitworth its Community MVP for the week as a result of his generosity. Whitworth isn’t the only player on his team supporting Los Angeles after the shootingThe Rams are using Week 10’s game as a catalyst for philanthropic efforts to help Californians throughout the state. On Sunday, the club announced it would auction off several game-worn jerseys from the victory over the Seahawks and donate the proceeds to victims of the shooting as well as to the families displaced by the wildfires tearing through the state this week.Though Sunday’s game had only wrapped up an hour earlier, the five jerseys on the auction block — including Whitworth’s — were already set to bring in more than $7,500 for the Victims Fund and the Red Cross. The team also donated the proceeds from its 50/50 raffle to both causes. Here’s how you can helpIf you’d like to add to that total but can’t afford to drop $500+ on a game-worn jersey, there are several other ways you can help. You can donate to the Ventura County Community Foundation here. You can learn more about the Red Cross, long a trusted resource for rebuilding families along a wide spectrum of disasters Atlanta Falcons T-Shirt , and its efforts to help victims to wildfires here. And if you’d like to help the Los Angeles Fire Department directly, you can learn more below. Saints quarterback Drew Brees became the NFL’s all-time leader in completions on Sunday. A couple of teammates made some history while catching those passes.Receiver Michael Thomas had 10 catches for 129 yards. He has 38 this year, the most any player ever has had in the first three games of a season. He’s also the first player in league history to catch at least 10 passes in each of his team’s first three games.Running back Alvin Kamara added 15 catches for 124 yards. He tied William Andrews (1981) and Rickey Young (1979) for the second most catches by a running back in a single game in NFL history. In 1980, Clark Gaines had 17 catches in one game, the most in one game of any running back in league history. Most importantly, the Saints have recovered from a Week One home loss to the Bucs with a pair of wins, moving them to 2-1 and keeping very much alive their Super Bowl aspirations. Still, they’ll need to do better on defense if they hope to get very deep into the postseason.

The Arizona Cardinals take on the San Francisco 49ers as both teams look for their second win on the season. The losing team takes a commanding lead in the race for a top three pick http://www.authenticsarizonacardinals.com/cheap-mike-iupati-jersey , while the winner... Gets their second win of the season. We talked with David Fucillo of Niners Nation on two reasons why the Cardinals lose and two reasons why the Cardinals win on Sunday From Fooch:This is a fascinating game if you remove the fact that it involves two really bad football teams. The 49ers offense dominated the Cardinals in the stat sheet, but five turnovers killed them. Now they meet in Arizona with Byron Leftwich taking over play-calling. We can speculate on what that means for the offense, but it is mostly speculation given his lack of game-plan and play-calling experience. Two reasons the San Francisco 49ers win on Sunday1. Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers -- The 49ers were the better team in much of what they did in Week 5, but -5 in turnover differential is not going to cut it. We broke down the 49ers 18 turnovers through seven weeks, and blame can be spread around. The quarterbacks have made some bad decisions, but there have also been receiver drops, and pass protection issues. The 49ers have shown they can avoid turnovers, but it’s been woefully inconsistent. But if the 49ers can cut the turnover differential to near even or better, the 49ers will win this game.2. Getting pressure -- The Cardinals rank 23rd in Football Outsiders’ adjusted sack rate and dead last in Pro Football Focus’ pass blocking efficiency stat. The 49ers have been inconsistent in getting to the quarterback, and it has cost them. Facing a rookie quarterback, it is critical they make him uncomfortable. Their secondary is banged up, and so the key would seem to be getting pass rushers in Josh Rosen’s face. Two reasons the San Francisco 49ers lose on Sunday1. Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. We can flip the reason they’ll win because that has cost the 49ers with regularity. I could argue San Francisco could have beaten the Vikings in Week 1, the Chargers in Week 4, the Cardinals in Week 5, and the Packers in Week 6, if not for the excess of turnovers. There are no guarantees they’d win those games, but when you have a hugely negative turnover differential in one-possession games, you can see the difference. But if the 49ers end up -2 or worse in turnover differential Black Haason Reddick Jersey , I would not be surprised to see them on the losing end of things.2. The run game. Matt Breida sat out practice on Wednesday and Thursday, and is a question mark for Week 8. He has been their best running back, and one of the most efficient running backs in the NFL. Raheem Mostert has looked good in his place, but losing Breida would be problematic for the offense. If they can’t establish their ground game, the offense could struggle to get going. First-year Arizona Cardinals coach Steve Wilks has wanted players to separate themselves in the crowded competition at wide receiver.Christian Kirk and Chad Williams seem to have done just that. Both youngsters had impressive nights in the Cardinals' 20-15 preseason victory at New Orleans on Friday night.Kirk, a second-round pick from Texas A&M, caught four passes for 49 yards, including a 13-yard dart in traffic from fellow rookie Josh Rosen for a touchdown. Williams, a third-round pick from Grambling State in 2017, caught three for 44 yards."Christian Kirk, Chad Williams, the way they performed. Tough catches, yardage after with Chad," Wilks said after the team returned to practice Sunday. "I thought those guys stepped up. I thought they created a little bit of separation. It's ongoing in that room so I'm looking for guys to continue to get better."Kirk and Williams took advantage of the absence of wide receiver Brice Butler, out with a foot injury. Butler had been listed as the No. 2 receiver opposite Larry Fitzgerald on the depth chart but Wilks had declared the positon "pretty wide open" during training camp."With Brice being out, there's more opportunities to go out and show what we can do," Kirk said. "I'm really excited with how we played and looking forward to another good week of practice and getting out there in Dallas and do it again."Kirk, who grew up in suburban Phoenix as a Cardinals fan, made his presence felt the first time he touched the ball, returning a punt 38 yards in Arizona's first preseason game, a 24-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. He would have had a touchdown, most likely Black Ricky Seals-Jones Jersey , had he not slipped making a move on the final would-be tackler, the punter. Now he's trying to show that he's not just a specialist but a reliable big-play threat as a receiver."You've just got to learn week by week, whether it's the speed of the game, the playbook, I mean it all just comes more natural the more reps that you get," Kirk said. "You get used to the looks that you're seeing. It's getting a lot easier. I feel like I've made bounds and strides from when I first stepped in here."Wide receiver is a big question mark for the Cardinals, with no truly proven players — except perhaps Butler — beyond Fitzgerald, who enters his 15th NFL season with career statistics among the greatest in the game's history. So the showing of the youngsters was welcome news. That might be particularly true of Williams, who struggled through a difficult rookie season, appearing in only six games with three catches for 31 yards.Has the light come on?"He's just such a competitor," Wilks said. "He understands exactly what he needs to do. He wasn't satisfied with some of the things that happened last year, the inconsistency, so I think he's ready to step up."Williams said he's much more at ease."I feel like it's sunk in and I know the way of going about things," he said, "and it just comes natural now."The Cardinals wrapped up their relatively brief training camp at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale on Wednesday. They will work out Monday, have Tuesday off, then practice Wednesday through Friday in preparation for their Sunday game at Dallas."This was always in the plans because really I wanted those guys to get acclimated to how we're going to do it during the year, to get away from the University of Phoenix Stadium and get back here and get down to the routine," Wilks aid. "Routine is so important to me."Notes: Wilks said there will be no rush to get DT Robert Nkemdiche back after the former first-round draft pick left Friday night's game with a foot injury. "I really don't have a timetable on it right now," Wilks said. "Just taking to the trainers, we're just going to take it day to day and see how it goes."

Cardinals’ Poor PFF Offensive Line Grades: A Rebuttal PFF’s offensive line grades are generally lower and more heavily scrutinized than other positions. Part of the problem is that their evaluators do not know for certain what the team’s blocking assignments are for each play. They can make some assumptions based on generally practiced blocking rules Youth Justin Pugh Jersey , but what they may not know, for example, is whether a G or C is assigned a reach block on the play---and reach blocks are very much in vogue these days. But often times, the G or C needs to scrap his reach block assignment if his play side gap is being blitzed---or of there is a twist stunt and thus a switch needs to be made.Offensive line play is so nuanced (with changes made on the fly) that it would be difficult for PFF to achieve the kind of accurate grades that the teams themselves would be able to assess knowing the play call, the prescribed assignments and switch rules versus blitzes and stunts.I agree with many of you that the Cardinals’ offensive line has been pretty solid, especially based on the fact that they have matched up against 3 of the best defensive lines in the NFL---AND---that the Cardinals’ play calling has been ultra conservative to the point where the defenses can load up the box and feel like all they have to defend is a 20 yard box. The Cardinals have to start backing defenses off---and let’s face it---they also haven’t shown that they can keep hard rushing defenses honest by executing good screen and draw plays---plus, they have not posed a scrambling and escape threat at the QB position. As Seth points out, the Cardinals’ offensive line have one of the highest run blocking grades—-but how can that be? Typically they have been blocking against staked boxes and teams are run blitzing when they see running formations. Under the circumstances, the Cardinals’ offensive line has stood up fairly well—-but—-here again—-even when the grades are in the Cardinals’ favor—-the reality is that the Cardinals’ rushing attack has yet to get on track—-partly due to predictable and conservative play calling, but also partly due to the team having to play so often from behind. From this fan’s perspective—-I would give the unit a B- overall after 3 weeks, especially based on the quality of the opponents. The individual grades are as follows:LT D.J. Humphries——run blocking: B; pass blocking: C+ (overall grade: B-)LG Mike Iupati—-run blocking: B-; pass blocking: C- (overall grade: C)C Mason Cole—-run blocking: B-; pass blocking: B (overall grade: B)RG Justin Pugh—-run blocking: B-; pass blocking: C+ (overall grade: B-)RT John Wetzel—-run blocking: B-; pass blocking: A- (overall grade: B+)I think that Ray Brown is doing a commendable job—-and now with a more mobile QB as the starter, who can do a better job of keeping defenses somewhat off-balance—-the offensive line could start to get into a groove. It will help their cause too to have Jermaine Gresham back as the blocking TE. Perhaps FB Derrick Coleman will be used more in the games ahead. Moreover, the Cardinals need to get better pass pro blocking from their RBs—-which also stands as one of the reasons why the unit’s PFF grade is low.How often are we hearing that a RB missed his block? Enough already. Josh Rosen said yesterday in his press conference that the RBs and Chase Edmonds in particular have been nailing down the blocking assignments big-time this week. Let’s just make sure that David Johnson isn’t being tutored on the sideline with a close game on the line. Adam Vinatieri vividly remembers his last game against Morten Andersen.Andersen had already logged more than 20 seasons in the NFL http://www.cardinalsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-andre-smith-jersey , was well into his 40s, nearing the end of his career and still kicking as well as anyone in the league. Back then, Vinatieri marveled at how the seemingly ageless Andersen managed to excel for so long. Now, more than a decade later, Vinatieri finds himself grinding through his 23rd NFL training camp, hoping to join the NFL's career scoring leader in the Hall of Fame. Andersen was inducted last year."I would have liked to have seen a handful more kickers and punters make it in there, but finally getting a second kicker in and Ray Guy getting in, it's good that we have some representation in there because those guys did a lot for the league," the Indianapolis Colts kicker said.Andersen's induction last year provided hope to specialists such as Vinatieri that they, too, could be headed to Canton, Ohio, one day.Until Andersen's selection http://www.cardinalscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-tre-boston-jersey , Vinatieri wasn't sure. The only one other "pure" kicker to earn pro football's highest distinction was Jan Stenerud in 1991. Guy was elected in 2014, ending the shutout for punters. Some believe Vinatieri could be next. His sterling resume glistens with Hall of Fame credentials: four Super Bowl rings, the league record for 100-point seasons (20) and second all-time in career scoring (2,487 points). Anderson finished with 2,544 and Vinatieri needs 58 points to break the record, which could happen at midseason if all goes well.He owns the career record for scoring in postseason games (234), is the only player to top 1,000 points and make 200 field goals with two teams, has celebrated a league-record 225 victories, including playoffs, and made a league-high 44 consecutive field goals. If Vinatieri completes this season, he would become only the third 46-year-old player to suit up for an NFL team. His highlight reel contains some of the most memorable kicks in league history: two last-minute field goals to win Super Bowls and the tying and winning kicks in the infamous Snow Bowl, which helped New England win the first of its five Lombardi Trophies. He has been dubbed the best clutch kicker in league history and there's no indication "Automatic Adam" is slowing down."It's ridiculous Cheap David Johnson Jersey ," holder Rigoberto Sanchez said. "It's honestly out of this world, I think. Twenty-three years in the league, still kicking the ball the way he kicks it, 60 yards out in practice. It's unreal."Just how much has Vinatieri seen and done during his career? He is the last link to the NFL's developmental league in Europe, the one Andrew Luck's father worked with, and one of only two players left from the 1990s. Former teammate Phil Dawson is the other.Vinatieri joined the league before former teammates Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, still reminds people he once tackled Herschel Walker and acknowledges missing on Desmond Howard and Devin Hester as they returned his kickoffs for Super Bowl scores. He played for Hall of Fame coaches Bill Parcells and Tony Dungy, in addition to Bill Belichick. His newest coach, Frank Reich, actually threw for 281 yards against the Patriots during Vinatieri's rookie season in 1996.Somehow, though, he remains the epitome of consistency.Last year, with a new long snapper and a new holder Phil Dawson Jersey , Vinatieri still made 85.3 percent of his field goals and scored 109 points and now he's back with his oldest son, A.J., serving as a ball boy at training camp."It comes to a point where Adam is Mr. Clutch over here, so (long snapper) Luke (Rhodes) just tries to do his job right and get the 12 o'clock laces and I try to get the ball in the spot that he likes and let him do the rest," said Sanchez, who wasn't even born until a week after Vinatieri's NFL debut in 1996. "He's been kicking it straight for a long time."Despite the honors, the nicknames and the Hall of Fame predictions, Vinatieri knows he may still need more to follow the kicker he has been watching since his younger days in South Dakota into the NFL's most hallowed halls."I don't think it hurts, that's for sure," Vinatieri said. "It's one of those things that I haven't really though too much about it. I'm still just trying to help my team win games and keep on putting chapters in this book and if that happens, fantastic."NOTES: The Colts have activated starting safeties Clayton Geathers and Malik Hooker from the physically unable to perform list Thursday. Both were coming off knee surgery. ... Guard Jeremy Vujnovich also was activated from PUP. He had been out with an injured calf after starting all 16 games last season.
