David Irving returned from his suspension after the Cowboys’ Week Four game. He took part in team meetings last Tuesday and practiced last Wednesday. The Cowboys haven’t seen him since.Cowboys coach Jason Garrett confirmed the defensive lineman has remained away from the team dealing with a personal family issue since last Thursday. They expect him back tomorrow. The Cowboys remain patient with Irving http://www.thejaguarsfootballauthentic.com/jermey-parnell-jersey-authentic , who they have not seen much in the past year. He missed the final four games of last season with a concussion, skipped the offseason program and organized team activities to deal with his personal issues, returned for minicamp but didn’t practice, skipped training camp for substance abuse counseling and then sat out the first four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.Irving has 11 sacks in the 23 games he has played for the Cowboys the past two seasons.Jaguars offense toothless in loss to Titans The Jacksonville Jaguars got their butts kicked against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, dropping their first game of the season http://www.jaguarscheapstore.com/tashaun-gipson-jersey-cheap , 9-6. Nine to six. It’s unreal that your defense holds a team to sub-100 yards net passing, about 230ish total yards and nine points and you lose, without any turnovers. Simply put, the Jaguars lost on Sunday because their offense couldn’t do anything. Many people seem to struggle to say it, but I’m not scared to. The Jaguars lost mainly because Blake Bortles was bad. He struggled to hit easy passes http://www.jaguarscheapstore.com/jermey-parnell-jersey-cheap , held the ball and nearly fumbled in a critical time because he was careless with the football. Sure, he had some drops, but every quarterback in the NFL deals with drops.D.J. Chark dropped an easy pass off his chest, Keelan Cole dropped a low ball that he should have caught and Tommy Bohanan dropped a pass but outside of that, the big issue was the quarterback was just off all day. Hell http://www.jaguarscheapstore.com/calais-campbell-jersey-cheap , he had three straight passes batted at the line of scrimmage. How does that even happen? The drops hurt, but it hurts more when your quarterback struggles to hit easy throws on third down and sails passes over the guys who are open. The issue was exacerbated in the second half when the Titans realized Bortles was not even trying anything down the field and they began sending pressure constantly. They knew they had a quarterback who was off, only looking for the short safe throws and feeling the pressure.Coupled with Blake’s poor play, the Jaguars quickly figured out why you can’t treat Corey Grant as a real running back, as he managed just 1.8 yards per carry and each down he got the ball felt like a wasted down http://www.jaguarscheapstore.com/brandon-linder-jersey-cheap , all the while TJ Yeldon was averaging over six yards per carry and picking up yards in the passing game. The overall game plan for the Jaguars against the Titans wasn’t that much different than it was against the New England Patriots, where the offense seemed to be able to do no wrong. The biggest difference was simply that the quarterback didn’t hit the easy passes that were there to keep the chains moving. There were other failures that made Bortles bad day even worse, but when you boil it down the biggest issue was Bortles was just off on the day and it sank the offense. I don’t think having Leonard Fournette would have helped all that much on Sunday, outside of taking ineffective carries away from Grant.

The Jacksonville Jaguars try to atone their winless 2017 record against the Tennessee Titans at TIAA Bank Field at 1:00pm EST.UNIFORM WATCH: White tops and teal trousers for Sunday.OpponentThe 1-1 Titans have played at an 0-2 caliber to start the season and first year head coach Mike Vrabel had to dig deep into his bag of tricks to score on a fake punt from his own territory to sneak a win against the Houston Texans last week. The Jaguars will need to be extremely conservative on special teams to make sure that this doesn’t happen Cheap Ronnie Harrison Jersey , as this is really the only way I can see the Titans stealing a win this week, a la the Rams game last year.Offensively, the Titans are somewhat in shambles under first year offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur. We still don’t know whether Marcus Mariota or Blaine Gabbert will get the start this weekend, but Mariota has looked so lost in the new system that Jags fans should almost be hoping he gets the nod from a tactical aspect. There has been absolutely no chemistry with the wide receivers (especially last year’s fifth overall pick Corey Davis), and their most targeted playmaker from last season in Delanie Walker has already been sidelined for the rest of 2018 with an ankle injury. What was once the exotic smash mouth running game now actually resembles Smash Mouth singer Steven Harwell trying to tote the rock, and Derrick Henry is averaging less than three yards per carry with Dion Lewis getting the majority of snaps. Most notably, the Titans usual stalwarts at offensive tackle in Taylor Lewan (concussion) and Jack Conklin (ACL) have been sidelined due to injury, but both returned to practice this week and will return on Sunday. Yannick Ngakoue will be anxious to knock the rust out of them. Defensively, the Titans may not have top shelf personnel across all eleven positions, but they have certainly taken on the gritty persona of their head coach. The unit plays hard and could be boosted with rookie linebackers Rashaan Evans and Harold Landry playing meaningful snaps after being hampered by injuries. Along the defensive line, Jurrell Casey has been a problem for this franchise but has yet to face former first team All-Pro guard in Andrew Norwell. Blake Bortles will need to stay away from throwing at impressive free safety Kevin Byard, who had eight interceptions in 2017.For more information on the Titans, check out Ryan O’Bleness’ crossover piece with Jimmy Morris of Music City Miracles.StorylinesWith last week’s signature win against New England, the Jaguars have now won their last seven consecutive home games Josh Lambo Jersey , and Blake Bortles has become the first Jaguars quarterback to begin the season 2-0 since 2006. Midweek reports indicated that there were still around 5,000 tickets still available for purchase, and the team will need our support to give the players the home field advantage that they thrive off of:Another popular storyline that has surfaced among the fan base this week is whether or not the Jaguars offense is better off without Leonard Fournette, and a general feeling exists that Fournette hamstrings the creativity of Nathaniel Hackett and his personnel packaging and play calling. We’ll see this week, but Bortles’ answering of the bell last week has inspired increased confidence from his teammates and the rest of the media, and we may have seen a critical turning point for the offense. If it were up to me, I would study the different ways that Sean McVay uses last year’s AP Offensive Player of the Year Toddy Gurley and use Fournette, a much better pass catcher than given credit for, in a similar capacity. Most importantly, a two game lead in the division is at stake and a win could really help the Jaguars start to pull away as the leader in the AFC South after just three games. The Colts have a tough match up this week against a Philadelphia Eagles team with Carson Wentz returning and the Texans square off against a hungry and winless New York Giants team, so this could really give the Jaguars some wiggle room which could allow them to rest some key veteran starters late into the season if they can clinch the division early.Key matchupsJosh Wells vs. Brian OrakpoOne of the few match ups that worry me, Wells will need to step up in the wake of Cam Robinson’s season-ending knee injury and give Blake the time he needs in the pocket. Wells played exceptionally well in spot duty last week but the Titans now have a week to prepare for him and Brian Orakpo is the type of veteran pass rusher who can exploit Wells’ weaknesses with a variety of rush moves.Andrew Norwell vs. Jurrell CaseyBriefly referenced above, Norwell will need to earn his big game check this week going against the Titans’ best defensive player. Casey has been a thorn in the Jaguars side for the last several years and Norwell will have to flash that mean streak in the run game to move Casey off his spot and create some seals for Fournette.Keelan Cole vs. Malcolm ButlerKeelan Cole turned the heads of everybody in the league last week with his spectacular one handed catch, but his job doesn’t get much easier this week going against Malcolm Butler. Butler plays a much more physical brand of football than Stephon Gilmore or Eric Rowe did last week and he will have to show his strength to beat press coverage and win at the point of attack. Expect the Titans to play lots of man press coverage and speedster Adoree Jackson to shadow Dede Westbrook on the other side. Yannick Ngakoue vs. Taylor Lewan/Jack ConklinNgakoue has zero sacks and fans are overreacting about it. Taylor Lewan won’t be quite himself after getting a little Windmill Wisdom knocked into him by Andre Branch in week one and Yannick has absolutely owned Conklin all the way back to the Maryland/Michigan State days. Nsackoue comes back this week Womens Calais Campbell Jersey , folks. Blaine Gabbert vs. Jaguars FansI mentioned earlier that Mariota may be a more attractive option from a tactical perspective for the Jaguars, but where’s the fun in tactics? Not only are Jaguars fans scorned by the aloof persona and lack of ROI from Gabbert’s era in Jacksonville, but there is extra salt in this wound after losing on the road to Gabbert’s Arizona Cardinals last season. If Gabbert does play, the roar of the crowd whenever he gets hit or knocked down will be deafening. Even if he doesn’t play, I would ask the equipment manager for some earmuffs or noise-cancelling headphones sitting on the bench if I were him. He don’t want this smoke.Final predictionIf it were any other team outside of the Titans, I would be incredibly leery of a hangover following an epic win like the one they had this past week against Brady and the Pats. Due to the animosity woven into the fabric of this rivalry, I sincerely doubt that this will be the case. This team has gone on record to say that the Titans were simply more physical than them in both losses last season, and I fully expect the defense to punch them in the mouth regardless of takes that first snap under center. This team doesn’t forget. This team will embarrass you.Jaguars win 35-13.Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New York Giants: Live blog regular season Week 1 The Jacksonville Jaguars mission to Atlanta and Super Bowl LIII begins today, as they travel to MetLife Stadium to play the New York Giants.Stay with us all through the afternoon as we live blog the game as it happens, and feel free to join the conversation in the comments as the day progresses. We got about 7 minutes left in this game Youth Myles Jack Jersey , and the Jags need to march and put some points up on this board to put this one away.M:3:38 PM: Giants answer back as the rookie RB Barkley goes 67 yards for a touchdown. Two missed tackles lets the rookie make a game of it, still. Jaguars lead 20-15 after a failed two point conversion.3:33 PM: TOUCHDOWN! Bortles tries to find Moncrief on 3rd & 9 but throws wide and outside on the back shoulder attempt. Penalties are killing this team today.2:58 PM: The Jaguars defense comes through with a huge stop on 4th & 2 as Barkley attempts to leap over the pile but falls inches short. Jaguars still lead 13-9.2:20 PM: The Giants drive down field, with the help of two pass interference calls on Barry Church and Jalen Ramsey while covering Odel Beckham Jr. The defense holds but Giants add 3 as times expires. We reach halftime with Jaguars leading 13-6.2:05 PM: TOUCHDOWN! Jaguars go 57 yards, including two great passes from Bortles to Westbrook Youth Cam Robinson Jersey , and a powerful run by TJ Yeldon. Jags cap it off with a 1 yard pass from Bortles to Yeldon for six. Jaguars now lead 13-3.2:00 PM: Outside of one drive, defense has been great.1:56 PM: Jaguars defense forces another 3 & out, but Fournette is currently getting worked on for a hamstring injury, according to the Jaguars. He is QUESTIONABLE to return. Jags take over at their own 35.1:49 PM: The Jaguars get a great drive that stalls at the Giants 24. They had a touchdown pass from Bortles to ASJ wiped off the board by a Norwell hands to the face penalty, and another near pick for Janoris Jenkins careens off into Niles Paul’s chest but is dropped in the end zone. Josh Lambo kick makes it 6-3, Jaguars....and Leonard Fournette is limping. SIGH..1:39 PM: End of the 1st quarter. 3-3, Jaguars have the ball with 2nd & 4 inside their own territory to start the 2nd.1:35 PM: The Giants march down to inside the Jags 10 yard line thanks to Beckham Jr. getting a chunk 24 yard play on a pick route, and Barkley getting involved on a couple of 10 yard runs. The Jags D holds inside the 10 though, and forces a Giants field goal. We are tied at 3-3. The Jags defense has yet to really get to Eli Manning, not a good sign.1:25 PM: After a Giants sack due to a blown assignment by Andrew Norwell, Bortles is picked off by Janoris Jenkins on a sideline attempt to Moncrief that didn’t have much air on it. Bad ball, Blake. Giants takes over.1:20 PM: The Jaguars get the fortune of two penalties on Giants tackle Flowers who is getting mauled by Calais Campbell. Two near safeties, one by penalty, one by a host of Jags meeting Barkley at the half yard line Cam Robinson Jersey , end up with the Giants just getting space for their punter, and a slooow 3 & out and a great start for the Jaguars D.1:11 PM: Jags open with a first strike field goal. Bortles connects on a 30 yard pass to Keelan Cole, and Fournette gets a couple of nice conversion runs on 2nd and short. Drive stalls at Giants 30 after Yeldon drops a would be first down, and Bortles misses a well covered Moncrief in the end zone. 3-0 Jaguars.1:02 PM: Jags will receive the opening kick off, we’ll see the offense first.1:00 PM: It’s time!12:45 PM: 15 minutes and counting til kick off. PAUL Youth Matt Duchene Jersey , Minn. (AP) The Minnesota Wild skated to the NHL trade deadline in an enviable position, on track for the playoffs with their lineup almost intact again.Though the top two teams in the daunting Central Division bolstered their rosters on the last day for dealing of the season, the Wild weren’t worried. They’ve won four straight games to surge into fourth place in the Western Conference.”I like what we have and the way we’re playing,” coach Bruce Boudreau said on Monday, about two hours before the trade deadline. ”Obviously to get into the playoffs and to go anywhere, we have to play better.”That’s essentially what they’ve done, though, after stumbling through their first 20 games. They’re 26-12-4 since Nov. 9, and 10 of their next 11 games are against teams currently below the cut for the postseason.”We’re showing that we’re sticking to the game plan,” center Matt Cullen said. ”Early in the year Mike Condon Jersey , we may have changed things up a little bit if things weren’t going our way and find ourselves in trouble and dig a hole, but I think it’s been pretty good here lately.”Nashville acquired left wing Ryan Hartman from Chicago and re-signed center Mike Fisher for the stretch run. Winnipeg landed center Paul Stastny in a surprising swap with suddenly skidding St. Louis. The only move the Wild made on Monday was to trade defenseman Mike Reilly to Montreal for a fifth-round draft pick.”I don’t let it bother me,” Boudreau said. ”I’ve always believed if we do the right things, then usually good things happen. I’ve been on both sides.”They’re expecting defenseman Jonas Brodin back from a broken left hand this week, and their forward depth has been sound enough that they let right wing Chris Stewart go in a waiver claim by Calgary. That gives the Wild some more space under the salary cap for future maneuvering.”We pretty well knew he was going to get picked up,” Boudreau said. ”He’s too good a person, too good a teammate for nothing to happen to him.”The Wild, who host the Blues on Tuesday, have displayed an invaluable ability to rally lately. They turned a 2-0 deficit in the final minute of the second period against San Jose on Sunday into a 3-2 overtime victory . They trailed 2-0 at New Jersey on Thursday and charged back to win 4-2.”Lately, we’re getting that feeling that we’re never out of it Jaycob Megna Jersey Womens ,” goalie Devan Dubnyk said. ”That’s an important one to have.”Even more critical than this late-season resilience has been the productivity of these victories. Sometimes teams can get hot and still go nowhere in the standings, but the Wild have timed their streak well against slumps by some of their closest Western Conference competitors.”It’s a good sign for us, but it’s still going to be tight,” left wing Zach Parise said. ”We all know there’s not a lot of points separating the teams, so we’ve got to keep improving and worry about ourselves. You don’t want to find yourselves in a spot where you have to scoreboard watch.”— DENVER (AP) With the core of Colorado’s scoring attack sidelined, backup goalie Jonathan Bernier put together a stifling performance.Gabriel Bourque and Tyson Jost scored 2:14 apart in the second period, Bernier stopped 38 shots and the Avalanche beat the San Jose Sharks 3-1 on Tuesday night.Bernier was solid once again in place of starter Semyon Varlamov, who missed 11 games with a groin injury before returning to the crease Saturday. For the second time in 2 1/2 weeks, his backup delivered a gem at the expense of the Sharks.”Bernier would be making $20 million a year if he played us every night,” said San Jose coach Peter DeBoer Ryan Dzingel Jersey , whose team lost 5-3 to the Avalanche on Jan. 18 in large part because of 45 saves by Bernier. ”He’s been unbelievable against us.”Colorado returned from a six-game road trip and won its ninth straight at the Pepsi Center, the club’s longest home winning streak since moving to Denver in 1995. The Avalanche are 19-7-1 at home this season and one point out of the second wild card in the Western Conference.”We’ve had some success at home,” Bernier said, ”but we have to get that success on the road if we want to be a good team and to make the playoffs.”They’ll have to find some more offense, too.Colorado struggled to generate many chances without Nathan MacKinnon (left shoulder) and Mikko Rantanen (lower body), the team’s top two scorers. In their absence, the Avalanche were outshot 39-20.”We lost two of our best players on our team, one of the best players in the NHL right now (in MacKinnon),” Jost said. ”Guys have to step up.”The Sharks pulled goalie Martin Jones in the final minute and had a flurry of chances to tie it, but J.T. Compher iced the game with an empty-net goal with three seconds remaining.Jones stopped 17 shots for the Sharks Womens Tom Pyatt Jersey , who have won just twice in their last seven games. Joel Ward scored his first goal since Nov. 22.”Yeah, their goalie played well,” San Jose center Logan Couture said. ”It was tough to get one, and obviously we didn’t get two.”San Jose had 16 of the first 20 shots but found itself down 2-0 early in the second.Bourque opened the scoring 2:31 into the period after the Sharks turned the puck over in their own zone. Jost took control and pushed it ahead to Compher, who slid an expert pass along the crease to Bourque for his third goal of the season. The Avalanche added to it as they connected on two long passes to set up Jost. The 19-year-old split two defenders just in front of the blue line and beat Jones’ glove for his fourth of the season.Ward cut the deficit to 2-1 with 6:31 left in the period after scoring on a rebound. The goal was originally waved off, but video replay showed the puck slipped just inside. The Sharks outshot the Avalanche 26-10 through two periods.”Berns was good,” Colorado coach Jared Bednar said. ”He gave us a chance.”NOTES: C Joe Thornton missed his sixth straight game and is expected to be out several weeks for San Jose. … Jost and Compher each had a goal and an assist. … MacKinnon is expected be out two to four weeks, while Rantanen missed his first game of the season. … The Avalanche are in the midst of playing 13 of 16 games away from home.UP NEXTSharks: Host the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday night.Avalanche: Start a three-game road swing at the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night.—This story has been corrected with Bernier’s save total to reflect official scoring change.—

Holtby made saves in quantity and quality, most notably on Columbus No. 1 center Pierre-Luc Dubois on a rebound and again on an attempt to bat the puck out of the air, to get to overtime for the fourth time in five games this series. That’s when everything changed. Suddenly, two-time Vezina Trophy-winning goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was besieged, having to stop Alex Ovechkin and John Carlson from point-blank range early in overtime.”We just came out as a new team,” Carlson said. ”We’ve went out and attacked in every game that we’ve won. That was our mindset, and I think we played a great overtime.”Overtime has been the difference in this series. Artemi Panarin and Matt Calvert scored the winners in Games 1 and 2 for Columbus, Lars Eller in double OT in Game 3 for Washington and then Backstrom in Game 5, deflecting defenseman Dmitry Orlov’s shot past Bobrovsky to send the sellout crowd in Washington into a frenzy.”I got a tip on it, and it’s usually what happens in the playoffs,” Backstrom said. ”Tip goals or rebound goals. That’s the way it is.”The road team won the first four games of a Stanley Cup playoff series for the fifth time over the past 10 years. Holtby’s 39 saves, including a big one on Bjorkstrand in overtime, made sure the home team won Game 5 for the fifth time.”One of our best players Youth Jamie McGinn Jersey , our goalie, was our best player again,” Washington forward Brett Connolly said. ”He’s come in here and he’s played three amazing games. Kudos to him. He’s been great for us and we obviously need him to keep playing this way if we’re going to be successful.”Bobrovsky didn’t play poorly other than perhaps a soft goal allowed to Evgeny Kuznetsov early in the second period. After two goals from Matt Calvert and his team’s effort wasn’t enough Saturday, coach John Tortorella is betting on ”Bob” to come up big again in Game 6.”Two good goalies. Good game,” Tortorella said. ”We’ll be back here for Game 7.”It’s now the Capitals’ goal to avoid a Game 7 at home, where they’re 2-5 over the past decade in the Ovechkin era. Coach Barry Trotz, whose team has lost the past two times they’ve played Game 7 at home, shrugged off Tortorella’s assurance of a game in Washington on Wednesday after players insisted they know what to expect from Columbus in Game 6.”What else is he going to say?” Trotz said. ”It’s our job for that not to happen.”NOTES: Bobrovsky allowed four goals on 29 shots. … Thirteen of the Capitals’ past 24 playoff games have been decided in overtime. … With an assist on T.J. Oshie’s power-play goal, Carlson has eight points through five games. … Ovechkin led all players with seven shots on goal. … Calvert scored twice in a playoff game for the second time in his career. … Blue Jackets C Alexander Wennberg returned after missing Games 2, 3 and 4 following a hit to the head from Tom Wilson. He replaced Sonny Milano in the lineup. … The Capitals made no changes after winning back-to-back games in Columbus, keeping Chandler Stephenson on the second line in the absence of Andre Burakovsky, who’s out for at least the remainder of the series with an upper-body injury.— BOSTON — Rick Middleton’s name is all over the Boston Bruins‘ record books. It hasn’t been enough to send the man they call ‘Nifty’ into the Hall of Fame — but it is enough to get his No. 16 raised to the TD Garden rafters prior to Thursday night’s game against the New York Islanders.Acquired from the New York Rangers in exchange for Ken Hodge — the latter reunited with Phil Esposito in New York, Middleton is third in goals (402), even strength goals (275), and shooting percentage (20.0), fourth in points (898) goals created (357.2), and goals for on ice (1,319), fifth in power play goals (102) Womens Jared McCann Jersey , sixth in assists (496) and game winning goals (52), tied for sixth in hat tricks), seventh in shots (2,007), eighth in games played (881) and goals per game (0.46) and 10th in plus-minus (plus-220).Article continues below ...Oh, and he’s the team’s all-time leader with 25 short-handed goals.“Loved ‘Nifty,’ even though I was a defenseman,” said current Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy. “Crafty. One-on-one. Played in traffic. I liked watching him and Barry Pederson feed off each other.”Cassidy’s banged-up team (13-7-4) comes home for a two-game homestand after a split of a Montreal/Toronto trip — and still looking for more production. The Bruins, top heavy with the Patrice Bergeron line doing much of the scoring, is now without Bergeron, who suffered an upper body injury that will cost him a month. General manager Don Sweeney admitted Monday he is searching for a possible trade for offense — and the Bruins recalled Ryan Donato from Providence, where he had nine points in 10 games since his demotion. The defense, missing as many as six regulars at one point, has lost Kevan Miller again, this time for at least five weeks with larynx damage suffered when he took a puck to the throat in Toronto.“He plays his heart out. That’s two blocked shots that have put him out,” said Cassidy. “We’ll miss him.”Brandon Carlo, who has been out since Nov. 10 with a shoulder/collarbone injury, returned to practice Wednesday and expects to play either Thursday or Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings. Meanwhile, Charlie McAvoy (concussion) has been skating but took a day off Wednesday — a move not considered a setback. The Islanders (12-9-2) will “re-open” their old home Jonathan Huberdeau Jersey , the Nassau Coliseum, Saturday night. First, they have the Bruins and are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Washington Capitals in Brooklyn Monday night. The Bruins swept three games from the Isles last season.“We’re headed in the right direction,” coach Barry Trotz. “We’re trending in the right direction from a total hockey standpoint, from the people running it, such as Lou (GM Lamoriello), and the infrastructure behind that.”Hard-working forward Casey Cizikas, who has missed the last six games with a lower body injury, was removed from IR and will be back for Thursday night’s game.“He brings a lot of intangibles,” said Trotz, whose new team lost to his old team — the defending Stanley Cup champions — Monday night, in a game played after Trotz received his championship ring. The Bruins have alternated Jaroslav Halak and Tuukka Rask since Rask returned from a three-day personal absence, leaving Rask in line for Thursday. He is an impressive 12-5-0 with a 2.22 goals-against average and .930 save percentages lifetime against the Islanders.Halak, who spent his last four seasons playing for the Islanders, was 7-1-1 with a 1.53 GAA and .950 save percentage against New York before going there.Thomas Greiss has played three straight and seven of the last eight games in goal for New York. He is 8-4-1 on the season and is 2-3-0 with a 1.63 GAA and .950 save percentage lifetime against the Bruins.Robin Lehner, who has struggled this season with his new team (4-5-1), is just 4-11-3 with a 2.71 GAA and .922 save percentage all-time against Boston.

Vegas bounced back from a 5-4 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils on Friday after beginning the trip with a 3-2 win over the New York Islanders.“It’s been excellent,” Golden Knights coach Gerard Gallant said of the Eastern Conference swing. “Obviously disappointed the other night in Jersey with the comeback there. But after three games we’ve got five points. So we’ve got one more big one (Monday) and hopefully get something out of that.”Article continues below ...The Golden Knights have hit their stride in the past few weeks. They’ve accumulated a four-game points streak and gone 10-2-1 in their past 13 games.“I think everyone showed up,” Vegas forward William Carrier told reporters after Sunday’s game. “These games on the road, all the teams are going to show up. It starts on the first line and I think everyone did their job and … keep it rolling.“I don’t think we were playing the right way the entire trip. (Sunday) was one of our best games and we’ll keep rolling into Columbus and try to get the two points.” Sunday’s highlights included veteran goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury tying Tony Esposito for ninth place the NHL career wins list with 423 and offseason free-agent signee Paul Stastny scoring his first goal for the Golden Knights after missing 30 games with a lower-body injury.Fleury has started 13 games in a row and 31 overall, posting a 2.58 GAA, .907 save percentage and an NHL-best five shutouts.“Since the day we got him in the expansion draft, he’s the leader of our group and obviously he’s one of the best goalies in the NHL,” Gallant said. “He gives us a chance to win every time.”Other Vegas highlights were Alex Tuch delivering the winning goal at 2:11 of overtime and forward Max Pacioretty assisting on Stastny’s goal in his return after sitting out one game with an undisclosed injury.“I thought we played a good overall game,” Tuch said. “I thought we had a lot of o-zone time. That obviously starts in the d-zone. We cleaned up our game a lot and it really showed up on the scoreboard.”The Blue Jackets (17-12-3) haven’t been rewarded on the scoreboard lately but are pleased with the way they’ve played in the past few games. They’ve dropped three of four during a season-long six-game homestand.Their lastest loss came Saturday night in overtime against the Anaheim Ducks in a physical 2-1 defensive affair.“It’s never easy to take a loss,” Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said. But he continues to be positive in the midst of the frustrating results. Despite the recent lack of wins, Columbus remains in second place in the Metropolitan Division.“I think we should have more points out of these three games than we have,” Tortorella said. “But I think a lot of coaches can stand up at the podium and say that during the year.“I’m going to judge the team on how they’re playing. I think we have found a good little piece here in these three games of playing the right way. We just have to stay with it.” The Blue Jackets finished with 15 more shots than the Ducks but couldn’t solve goaltender John Gibson. Markus Nutivaara scored the lone Columbus goal in the first period.“I thought we played well http://www.officialhurricanes.com/authentic-adidas-andrei-svechnikov-jersey ,” Blue Jackets center Pierre-Luc Dubois said. “I thought we had our chances. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the two points.” NEW YORK — The Florida Panthers are looking forward to playing Wednesday night because it will provide them an opportunity to forget about what happened Tuesday. The New York Islanders are looking forward to Wednesday night so they can confirm they haven’t forgotten how to play hockey. The Panthers will complete a back-to-back set Wednesday night, when they visit the Islanders in New York’s first home game in more than two weeks at Barclays Center.Article continues below ...Both teams are coming off lopsided losses. The Panthers suffered their first multi-goal defeat of the season Tuesday, when they fell to the host New York Rangers, 5-2. The Islanders last played Saturday night, when they completed a 1-3-0 road trip by dropping a 4-1 decision to the San Jose Sharks. The defeat Tuesday continued a frustrating trend for the Panthers (1-3-3), who scored first for the sixth time in seven games. Florida has led in all of its losses.“We came out and played pretty well and got the first goal,” Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad said afterward. “Usually, that’s enough to spark the team and inspire all of us to play at a higher level. For some reason, we have a tough time holding on to leads. Once we get that lead, we aren’t playing aggressive enough.”The Islanders (3-4-0) feel as if they aren’t playing enough, period. While they are one of six teams to have played seven or fewer games Brock McGinn Jersey Kids , no one else has experienced as sporadic a schedule as New York, which has already had two three-day breaks and one four-day break. In addition, Wednesday marks the third home game for the Islanders, who are splitting this season between Barclays Center in Brooklyn and their old home, Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. Only the Arizona Coyotes have played as few as two home games.“Every team we’ve played against is what you (would) consider a playoff team,” Islanders defenseman Thomas Hickey told Newsday following practice Tuesday. New York’s last six games have been against teams that qualified for the postseason last year.“That’s the good part of it. The bad part is when you have four days between a game, you might lose your game legs a little bit. You’re almost easing your way into the game, just defending and playing smart, whereas it’s not really instinctual like when you’re playing three games in four nights or playing every other night for a month, which is what everyone would prefer.”James Reimer, who replaced Michael Hutchinson in net early in the third period Tuesday, is likely to draw the start in goal for the Panthers on Wednesday night.Reimer Florida Panthers Hats Womens , who stopped both shots he faced against the Rangers, last started Friday, when he was pulled for Hutchinson in the second period after giving up four goals on 20 shots in what turned out to be a 6-5 shootout win over the Washington Capitals. The Islanders are expected to counter with Thomas Greiss, who has split time this season with Robin Lehner.Greiss, who sat in favor of Lehner the previous two games, last played Thursday, when he recorded five saves in relief of Lehner in New York’s 7-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings. Greiss made his most recent start Oct. 17, when he took the defeat after making 21 saves in a 4-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks.Reimer is 5-2-2 in 12 games against the Islanders. Greiss is 2-2-1 in five regular-season appearances against the Panthers, though he was the only goalie used by the Islanders in their six-game win over Florida in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals in 2016.

At least 17 people were killed in the shooting at Parkland, Fla. that’s near the practice facility.”It was tough,” said McGinn, who scored a power-play goal in the win. ”You turn on the TV in the afternoon . . . and it’s close to home. This is where a lot of the guys, they have young kids now, but when they get older that’s the high school they will be going to, so it affected our team.Article continues below ...”It’s a sad world we live in right now.”Captain Derek Mackenzie’s voice cracked with emotion when talking to reporters.”I think it goes to show the character in the room,” he said. ”We talked about getting two points and kind of dedicating this win to everybody back home.”What can I say? It’s a sad day. I wish I was there right now to talk to my family and neighbors and everyone that has been affected by this. But we can’t be there so the next best thing is come back and win.”Florida gave up a goal just 32 seconds into the game and trailed 2-1 with just over eight minutes gone in the first period. The Panthers battled back with three straight goals before the period ended, the last two just 1:11 apart.”I don’t know if it was one of our best games, but you give credit to the guys, given the circumstances today,” said MacKenzie.”I thought we had a bit of a sluggish start, probably for a lot of reasons, then kind of settled in and tried to control emotions and came up with two points.”Nick Bjugstad led the Panthers with a goal and an assist.Evgenii Dadonov and Alexander Petrovic also scored for Florida (25-23-6). The Panthers are 6-1-0 in their last seven games and are seven points behind the Carolina Hurricanes for the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.Bo Horvat had a goal and two assists for Vancouver (22-29-6). Brock Boeser www.officialavalanche.com , on a power play, and Michael Del Zotto also scored for the Canucks, who are 1-6-0 in their last seven games.Florida goalie James Reimer, making his second consecutive start after missing six games with a groin injury, stopped 34 shots. Canuck goaltender Jacob Markstrom was replaced after allowing four goals on 14 shots in the first period. Anders Nilsson stopped all 20 shots he faced in relief. The first period saw a couple of strange goals scored.Vancouver’s opening goal came when Del Zotto took a shot that Reimer stopped. The rebound floated high in the air and appeared to deflect off Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad’s stick into the net.McGinn tied the game on another bizarre play. Ekblad took a shot from a sharp angle that hit McGinn on the back, flipped over his shoulder and into the net.It was that kind of night, said Horvat.”It was a bunch of fluke goals,” he shrugged. ”You can’t make any excuses.”It was fluky goals tonight but that’s the way it bounces.”It was a frustrating loss for the Canucks, who were coming off an impressive 6-0 shutout of the Dallas Stars Sunday night.”We have to be consistent,” said Horvat. ”We’ve had great games then the next game or two games haven’t been so good.”To find that consistency in our game will be huge.”Head coach Travis Green said his team did some things well, but didn’t play good enough for a long enough stretch to win.”They are a really fast team,” said the rookie head coach. ”If you are going to beat a fast team you have to be able to pass the puck, you have to be able to handle the puck, your details have to be good and you have to win puck battles.”As times we did that Colorado Avalanche T-Shirts Authentic , at times we didn’t, especially in the first period. We’re not a good enough team to not play a good 60 minutes, not to be on top of our game, not have everyone playing pretty good hockey.”NOTES: There was a moment of silence prior to the game for the shooting victims. . The Canucks announced Wednesday GM Jim Benning has been given a contract extension. . Former Canuck goaltender Roberto Luongo, who missed 26 games with a groin injury, was activated off injured reserve and backed up Reimer.UP NEXT:Panthers: At Calgary on Saturday.Canucks: At San Jose on Thursday. The Vegas Golden Knights won seven of their previous eight games heading into the Saturday afternoon game at the Los Angeles Kings, who are in last place in the Pacific Division.Vegas (16-14-1) even got off to an early 1-0 lead over the Kings, making it seem the quick return trip home would not be difficult to prepare for a game Sunday night against the Dallas Stars (16-10-3).The Kings ruined those plans, scoring five consecutive goals to beat the Golden Knights 5-1.Article continues below ...During that stretch, goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury and the Golden Knights allowed their first power-play goal to an opponent since Nov. 21.“I think we got away from our game a little bit,” Golden Knights defenseman Nate Schmidt said. “We’re just trying to make too many things happen. … We know (the Kings) well. You can’t turn pucks over to them.“You can’t get into that style game, because that’s what they want. They want you to turn a few pucks over coming into the zone and counter. And I thought we fed their attack.”Oscar Lindberg put the Knights ahead early with his first goal of the season 4:23 into the game, but Nikita Scherbak answered for the Kings less than four minutes later.“I thought we came out pretty good the first period, but after that I felt like we kind of faded off Colorado Avalanche Hoodies Authentic ,” Lindberg said. “I don’t know why. It just happened.”Now the Golden Knights must immediately turn their focus toward a Stars team that has won four straight games and was 2-1 against Vegas in the Golden Knights’ dream season last year.“We’ll know tomorrow, but I hope so,” coach Gerard Gallant said when asked if his team could rebound in a 24-hour span after traveling back to Las Vegas. “I really hope so, because it’s going to be a tough game back home against Dallas, and we’ve got to get ready, get some rest tonight and get ready tomorrow.”The Stars are coming off a thrilling 3-2 win Friday night over the visiting San Jose Sharks. Miro Heiskanen and Brett Ritchie scored 1:48 apart in the third period for the Stars.Heiskanen gave the Stars a 2-1 lead at 4:38, taking a pass from Tyler Pitlick and beating Sharks goalie Martin Jones to the short wide with a wrist shot from the right circle. Ritchie extended the lead to 3-1 on a two-on-one at 6:26.“Pitlick dropped it to me,” Heiskanen said. “I yelled there, I just threw it at the net, and that’s it.“The last period was good for us, and it was a fun way to win this game.”Mattias Janmark also scored, and Ben Bishop made a season-high 41 saves for Dallas, which is 10-3-1 at home and 6-7-2 on the road.

Ericsson is expected to miss both road games. The latest plan was for Kronwall to play in one of the games. CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — The Calgary Flames stuck to an unconventional winning formula on Saturday night.Sean Monahan, Michael Frolik and Mikael Backlund scored in the third period, and the Flames again rallied for a 5-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night.Monahan finished with two goals and Matthew Tkachuk also scored as Calgary got its fifth win this season when trailing after two periods.“Obviously it’s not ideal to be down in games like we have been,” said Flames centre Sean Monahan, who had two goals to extend his point streak to six games (4 goals, 6 assists). “But we had a lot of good looks and if you play the same way we’re playing, you’re going to get rewarded and that’s what happened tonight.”Anaheim (two) is the only other NHL team with more than one win when behind after 40 minutes.David Rittich had 12 saves to help the Flames win their fourth straight.Jonathan Toews got his 300th career goal Cheap Kerryon Johnson Jersey , and Jan Rutta and Brandon Saad also scored for the Blackhawks, who went 0-3-0 on a three-game trip to Western Canada. Corey Crawford stopped 36 shots, including 18 of the 20 he faced in the third period.“They just put so much pressure,” Crawford said. “They kept coming. A lot of speed. They were making plays. They had a lot of confidence there in the third.”With Calgary trailing 3-1, Tkachuk started the comeback with 1:34 left in the second.“We had been the better team so far in the game, we had chances and chances, and we knew we were going to get one,” Tkachuk said. After pressing all period, Monahan finally tied it with 6:01 left in the third, when he neatly converted a cross-ice pass off the rush from Johnny Gaudreau. Monahan extended his point streak to six games (four goals, six assists).Frolik put Calgary ahead for good with 4:55 left as his centering pass from below the goal line deflected off a player and got past Crawford. It was the seventh goal for Frolik, who scored only 10 times last year.“He passed it out front and I put my stick out and one of our guys put out his stick and I didn’t see where it went after that,” Crawford said.Backlund capped the scoring with an empty-netter with 59 seconds left.Calgary’s top unit of Monahan, Gaudreau and Elias Lindholm were the best line all night.“They were real good,” Flames coach Bill Peters saod. “Johnny had the pucks lots http://www.lionscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-kerryon-johnson-jersey , (Lindholm) had unbelievable looks, (Monahan) ended up with a pair, and at the end of the day, they were playing against real good players.”The Flames outshot Chicago 41-15, including 20-4 in the third period.“You can’t give up that many chances in the third and expect to come out with a win,” Saad said. “Yeah, they got a lucky bounce on that fourth goal there, but they created their own luck. They were working hard. They had the puck possession. We fell into a shell.”Calgary opened the scoring 4:46 in when a quick passing sequence was finished off by Monahan in the slot on the power play.Chicago tied it with 6:03 remaining in the period after Travis Hamonic’s holding penalty put the Blackhawks on a two-man power play fpr 1:10 and they took advantage on Toews’ eighth goal. The Blackhawks took their first lead with 27 seconds left in the first as Rutta faked a slap shot to elude the sliding Garnet Hathaway, then put a wrist shot through a crowd and past Rittich high on his blocker side.Saad split the Flames’ defense while being harassed from behind by Mark Giordano and sent a shot that squeaked through Rittich’s pads to make it 3-1 with 6:19 left in the second.Calgary took over after that.NOTES: The Flames got an early five-minute man advantage when Duncan Keith was given a boarding major and game misconduct just over two minutes in, when his hit from behind on Dillon Dube sent the rookie head first into the boards. Dube left the ice on his own, but very slowly. He did not return. … Chicago lost in regulation for the first time in its last 10 trips to Calgary (5-1-4).UP NEXTBlackhawks: Host Carolina on Thursday night.Flames: At Anaheim on Wednesday night to open a three-game California trip.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Marc-Andre Fleury put a stop to Vegas’ early sophomore slump.Fleury keyed the Golden Knights’ far-fetched run to the Stanley Cup Final in their rookie season and then had a highlight-reel outing to silence a slow start to their second one.Fleury turned away breakaways http://www.officiallightningprostore.com/authentic-adidas-ryan-mcdonagh-jersey , made sliding stops and used great glovework to stop 26 shots to lead the Vegas Golden Knights to a 1-0 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.“Fleury was outstanding today and he was the difference in the hockey game,” coach Gerard Gallant said. But he almost needed overtime.Cody Eakin bailed out the Golden Knights with the winner with 1:25 left in the game. Eakin ended the scoreless tie with a sensational sequence for the goal. He made a dive for the puck to keep it away from Flyers center Sean Couturier in Philly’s end of the ice. Ryan Carpenter snared the puck and passed it back to Eakin, who fired it from the circle past Brian Elliott for the winner.“It’s just one of those ones where a stick and a bounce, and we were in the right spot at the right time,” Eakin said.Elliott was pulled to give the Flyers the man-advantage and they still couldn’t solve Fleury. Fleury made a diving stop across the crease with 30 seconds left to deny Flyers captain Claude Giroux the tying goal.He beat the Flyers for the 29th time, got his 406th career win and 49th NHL shutout. The Golden Knights had had hit the skids with a 1-4 start that included an opening-night home loss to the Flyers. But on the final game of a five-game road trip, Fleury carried Vegas to a needed win before it returns home next week to open a five-game homestand.Fleury made 10 saves in the second period and all of them were worthy of retweets. He stuffed Scott Laughton on a short-handed breakaway that wiped out the center and sent him crashing into the boards. Laughton crashed back-first into the boards and was down on the ice for a few seconds, then went straight to the locker room. He didn’t return until the third .Moments after that save Womens Steven Stamkos Jersey , Giroux was alone on a breakaway, took a nifty skip over a Vegas blade and was also stopped by Fleury. Fleury lay on his right side and snared the puck with his glove a tick before it reached the crease. Giroux’s stick hop was a play-of-the-day candidate — had Fleury not topped him with the save of the month. The Golden Knights tweeted the clip with the caption, “Don’t you Fleury bout a thing.”“You know he had a couple desperate saves there,” Giroux said. “He’s a goalie that doesn’t quit on the puck.”The Flyers were stomped 8-2 in their home opener Tuesday night against the San Jose Sharks and were booed off the ice to start a make-or-break year in coach Dave Hakstol’s fourth season. They rebounded 24 hours later with a gritty win at Ottawa and played a solid 60 minutes Saturday against the Western Conference champions. It just wasn’t enough for a team that can’t avoid any more injuries.“This is one of those nights, tip my hat to Fleury in net, they made a play late in the hockey game and it hurts like hell to walk out of here with nothing,” Hakstol said.Elliott rebounded from the eight-goal disaster in his last home start to stop 20 shots against Vegas.“Both teams had a lot of chances. Goalies played well and we were able to get the last one,” Eakin said.Laughton was banged up and forward Oskar Lindblom also hit the locker room in the third after Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb plowed him into the glass. The Flyers were already without two of their top nine forwards — Nolan Patrick and James van Riemsdyk. Patrick could miss up to 10 days after he took a stick to the face against Ottawa. Van Riemsdyk Tyler Johnson Jersey , who signed a $35 million, five-year contract in the summer, is out another month because an injury suffered when was hit with a shot in the second game of the season. The Golden Knights played their straight game without injured center Paul Stastny, who was signed to a $19.5 million, three-year contract in the offseason.NOTES: Gritty continues to get more mainstream exposure than any mascot or mortal in the NHL. Gritty taped a segment at a Philadelphia cheesesteak landmark for “Jimmy Kimmel Live !” that aired this week. “Picked up a side hustle for when Claude’s on the road,” Gritty tweeted . His in-game skits are a hit with fans — especially a videotaped segment that showed him taking out the trash and doing other chores around like the arena like a mascot everyman.UP NEXTGolden Knights: Host Buffalo on Tuesday night.Flyers: Host Florida on Tuesday night. COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Columbus coach John Tortorella didn’t want to talk much hockey after the Blue Jackets‘ wild New Year’s Eve win over the Ottawa Senators.Tortorella’s mind was on Nick Foligno’s 5-year-old daughter, Milana Victor Hedman Jersey , who was born with a congenital heart defect and earlier Monday had a scheduled surgery in Boston.Foligno, the Blue Jackets captain, was with his little girl but chatted with Tortorella by phone after the team scored five goals in the final period to secure its sixth win in the last seven games.“He wanted to talk hockey and there was no hockey talk with me,” Tortorella said. “If that doesn’t put things into perspective — we’re worried about a damn power play, scoring a goal, and the Folignos are going through that. This young girl has gone through a lot already in her life. Let’s be careful here with what’s important.”Good advice from Tortorella, who had plenty of players step up in the captain’s absence.Zach Werenski broke a tie late in the game with the second of his two goals and Sergei Bobrovsky had 22 saves for the Blue Jackets, who are back within two points of Washington in the Metropolitan Division.Werenski tipped in a pass from Cam Atkinson with 2:01 left to snap a 3-3 tie after Ottawa had charged back with a pair of unanswered goals.“No one took me going to the net Yanni Gourde Jersey , and Cam made a great pass right on my tape, and it found its way in,” Werenski said. “So it’s easy when you play with guys like that.”Atkinson and Josh Anderson got empty-net goals in the final minute to turn it into a rout for surging Columbus.Pierre-Luc Dubois had a career-high two goals and two assists. Atkinson a goal and a pair of assists, and Artemi Panarin added two assists.Ryan Dzingel had two goals for Ottawa, a team going in the opposite direction. The Senators lost their fifth in a row and are mired in last place in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference.Rookie Marcus Hogberg — who made his first career start Saturday against Washington — didn’t play badly, finishing with 32 saves. After a scoreless first period, Ottawa got on the board at 8:15 of the second. Chris Tierney found Dzingel just to the right of the net , and the Ohio State product caught Bobrovsky leaning away for an easy goal Auston Matthews Jersey , his 14th of the season.Werenski tied the game 80 seconds later with a one-timer from the bottom of the right circle off a cross-ice pass from Panarin.Dubois got his 15th goal of the season when he put back a rebound off the right post four minutes into the third period to break a 1-1 tie, and then he got credit for a lucky one off Cody Ceci’s skate later in the period. The Senators got a fortunate goal of their own that bounced in off Columbus defender David Savard, with Bobby Ryan getting credit. Dzingel scored again three minutes later to tie it again, setting up Werenski’s game-winner.“We were down 3-1 and come back, had some really good life and enthusiasm there and got nothing out of it,” Ottawa coach Guy Boucher said. “So it’s a tough one to swallow because I thought we deserved at least one point on this one.”NOTES: Columbus’ five goals in the final 20 minutes matched a franchise record for most in a period. … F Anthony Duclair moved to Foligno’s spot on the second line and Lukas Sedlak was back in the lineup after being scratched the past five games. … Columbus is the only NHL team with four defensemen with at least 13 points. … Werenski has six points in the last five games.UP NEXT:Ottawa: Hosts Vancouver on Wednesday.Columbus: At Carolina on Friday.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson was banned 20 games by the NHL on Wednesday for a blindside hit to the head of an opponent during a preseason game Jonathan Bernier Jersey Womens , the latest and most severe punishment in what the league called an “unprecedented” series of suspensions for the physical player. The right winger’s fourth ban in less than 13 months will cost him nearly a quarter of the 82-game regular season — only five NHL players have been suspended longer for on-ice play — and $1.26 million in salary.“I was pretty surprised. I think it’s unfortunate for Tom that the league is making an example out of him,” Washington forward T.J. Oshie said. “They set the standards; they want to get the dirty stuff out of the game.”It was announced just hours before the reigning Stanley Cup champion Capitals opened their title defense by beating the visiting Boston Bruins 7-0. Wilson did not play, but he was introduced along with his teammates during the pregame banner-raising ceremony and skated onto the ice in uniform.Wilson, a member of Washington’s top line with captain Alex Ovechkin, was ejected for the hit on St. Louis Blues center Oskar Sundqvist in the second period of the teams’ exhibition game on Sunday.Wilson had an in-person hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety in New York on Wednesday.“Everybody probably knows how we feel about it in our room. It’s a tough thing, since we don’t agree with it, but it was tough for Tom,” Capitals goalie Braden Holtby said. “I think the biggest thing is we’ve got to support him through this. It’s unfair and tough for a good player like that. He’s obviously a huge part of our team.” The video released to explain the punishment says: “Wilson delivers a high, forceful hit, which makes Sundqvist’s head the main point of contact on a hit where such head contact was avoidable and causes an injury.” It also admonishes him for taking “a poor angle of approach.”Blues coach Mike Yeo called the hit “predatory.”Wilson’s suspension, which Capitals coach Todd Reirden said he expects to be appealed, is the longest handed down by the league since Raffi Torres of the San Jose Sharks was banned a record 41 games in 2015, also for a preseason hit.The league noted that Wilson “is considered a repeat offender” — and, indeed, this is hardly the first time the sixth-year player has been in trouble for the way he has taken out an opponent. He was suspended twice because of preseason hits a year ago, then had to sit out three games during the playoffs for a check to the head that broke Pittsburgh Penguins center Zach Aston-Reese’s jaw and caused a concussion.“In short, including preseason and postseason games played, this is Wilson’s fourth suspension in his last 105 games, an unprecedented frequency of suspensions in the historyof the Department of Player Safety,” the NHL video says. The Capitals see Wilson as a vital part of the franchise Mike Reilly Jersey , and general manager Brian MacLellan signed him to a $31 million, six-year contract this offseason.During a conference call with reporters in July to discuss his new deal, Wilson spoke about how he needed to adjust his playing style.“It would be stubborn on my part not to admit that the game is changing. There is definitely an eye on that part, the physical part of the game, in the NHL right now. I want to be contributing. I want to be a part of the success of the group. If I’m not going to adapt and change with the times, I’m not going to be able to do that. I want to be on the ice and not in the box or not in the stands,” Wilson said at the time.“That physical part of my game is always going to be there. That’s the nature of who I am. That’s how I play the game. I’m not going to let anyone take that away from me,” he added. “But I have to be smart about it. You’ve got to play within the rules.”Wilson doubled his career high with 14 goals and set a new mark with 35 points last season, when he was the only NHL forward with 30-plus points and 90-plus penalty minutes, finishing with 187 and a league-high 41 minors. Then he contributed 15 points in 21 games during Washington’s run to its first championship.“There are certain ways they are calling things. You need to be aware of how they’re making their calls on suspensions. He’s a big, strong guy who skates really well. There is a lot of force behind his contact,” MacLellan said Tuesday, the day before the suspension was issued. “He needs to be aware of how they’re determining what’s legal and what’s illegal from the league’s standpoint.” PITTSBURGH (AP) — Olli Maatta and Matt Cullen scored 11 seconds apart in the first period, Matt Murray stopped 33 shots and the surging Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-0 on Friday night for their eighth straight victory.Maatta got his first goal since last March when his shot on the power play beat Connor Hellebuyck with 5:41 left in the first period. Cullen added his fourth when Zach Aston-Reese’s centering pass went airborne and caromed off Cullen’s left shoulder and into the net. Dominik Simon also scored for Pittsburgh, picking up his sixth of the season when what appeared to be a spectacular save by Hellebuyck was overturned on replay.Murray made the lead stand up to extend his personal winning streak to seven, tying a career best. One point out of the Eastern Conference cellar in mid-November, the Penguins have won 10 of 11 overall to close in on defending Stanley Cup champion Washington in the competitive Metropolitan Division.Hellebuyck finished with 29 saves for Winnipeg but the Jets remained winless in Pittsburgh since 2007, when the Jets played in Atlanta.HURRICANES 4, BLUE JACKETS 2RALEIGH, N.C. The Capitals have played one fewer game than Pittsburgh, which beat Winnipeg earlier Friday.Washington rookie goalie Pheonix Copley had 27 saves but saw his seven-game winning streak end.AVALANCHE 6, RANGERS 1DENVER (AP) — Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen scored power-play goals early in the first period, helping Colorado end a six-game slide.Gabriel Landeskog added a goal off his right skate, Alexander Kerfoot tipped in a shot, Rantanen deflected in yet another and Ryan Graves closed out the scoring with his first career NHL goal as a struggling Avalanche squad won for the first time since Dec. 19.Colorado finished 3 of 10 on the power play, with two of the goals scored following a 5-minute boarding call on former Avalanche player Cody McLeod just 2 1/2 minutes in.Philipp Grubauer made 24 saves Authentic Shea Weber Jersey , including one on a penalty shot by Jimmy Vesey late in the third.Ryan Strome scored the Rangers‘ lone goal midway through third period, and Alexandar Georgiev finished with 41 saves.Tyson Barrie had three assists to give him 278 career points, the most by a defenseman in franchise history.
