Alvin Kamara Jersey Stitched

If Drew Brees maintains his recent form through the bulk of this season Alvin Kamara Jersey Stitched , the record-setting Saints quarterback could wind up having one of his best years yet at the age of 39.Brees' completion rate is 80.6 percent through the first three games 鈥?high even by his standard. But is it sustainable?"I don't see why not," Brees said. "I mean, listen, it's not easy."No, he's just made it look that way.Brees began the season 78 completions behind Brett Favre's record of 6,300 and needed barely more than two games to set a new mark 鈥?now 6,326 and counting. Brees has completed 104 of 129 passes for 1,078 yards and eight TDs with no interceptions. This after he set the NFL record last season for completion rate at 72 percent. And he'll likely break Peyton Manning's record of 71,940 yards passing within two more games. He's 417 yards away from that mark. While Brees is pleased by his statistical production, he said he measures his performance more by the quality of his decisions."I've always had a goal that I want to continue to get better each and every year. Sometimes you can't always measure that," Brees said, offering the example of how throwing the ball away shows up as an incompletion, but is markedly preferable to taking a sack or committing a turnover."There's certain things stats don't always show as to your true production," Brees said. "I want to build confidence with my offense. I want to be in control of the huddle. I want to lead the huddle. I want to make those guys believe and get the best out of them."And I want to make great decisions when I have to opportunity 鈥?and then produce. So as long as I'm able to do those things Youth Alex Anzalone Jersey , that's what drives me."The bulk of Brees' passes have gone to receiver Michael Thomas and to running back Alvin Kamara. It's hard to argue with that decision-making. Both have made a number of clutch plays in New Orleans' two victories, and even in their 48-40 loss to Tampa Bay 鈥?blame for which could hardly be pinned on New Orleans' offense.Thomas has 38 catches 鈥?the most by an NFL player through the first three games of a season. He also has 398 yards and three TDs receiving. In discussing his high completion rate, Brees said Thomas has been a "huge" factor."He's a great target. He's a great matchup," Brees said. "It's good to have the weapons that we have on offense. More so than that, it's good that everybody has the mindset that they have, and that is that at any time, their number could be called."Kamara has caught 30 passes for 298 yards and one TD receiving. He often catches the ball out of the backfield. While such throws tend to yield modest gains and are often considered "check-down" throws 鈥?safer, easier alternatives to throwing downfield 鈥?Brees is unapologetic."It's about identifying matchups. It's making sure that you get positive plays," Brees said. "In just about every case, a completion is a positive play, right? So maybe that's the difference between you being third-and-7 and third-and-4. And when you look at the percentages of conversion (on third-and-short vs. third-and-long), then that's a big deal."Saints players have long raved about Brees' work ethic, adherence to routine, command of the game plan Alex Anzalone Jersey Stitched , knack for reading defenses and ability to make wise decisions. But his aging body still has to be able to make throws under pressure and even scramble once in a while, as he did for a 7-yard touchdown in a victory at Atlanta last Sunday.Saints receiver Austin Carr, who worked out with Brees last summer, said the quarterback's routine "is serious.""He knows what he needs 鈥?what kind of workouts, what kind of training he needs that gives him that durability, gives him the physical edge," Carr said. "He's a guy who's always looking for the edge."Brees used a spin move to avoid a potentially heavy hit by two converging Falcons defensive backs before taking two quick steps and diving into the end zone for a tying score late in the fourth quarter. It was not a third-down play; Brees could have thrown the ball away or slid to protect himself after crossing the line of scrimmage. In this case, he decided it was time to do more. For teammates such as tight end Josh Hill, the TD scramble was a reminder of how many ways Brees still can win a game."Probably the most competitive person I've ever been around and that's a prime example of it," Hill said. "A lot of guys would just slide in that situation and protect themselves, but the game's on the line and he knew what he had to do." Drew Brees grinned, paused as if searching for the right words, and even let out the beginnings of a laugh. The Saints have made 40-point outings look routine lately, and the record-setting quarterback is trying to enjoy it without showing a hint of complacency."It's a lot of points Youth Trey Hendrickson Jersey , but we have a high standard for ourselves," Brees said. "You're still not satisfied because you know you could have done a little bit better 鈥?but the end result is good."Brees passed for 363 yards and four touchdowns, and the Saints won their ninth straight with a 48-7 demolition of Philadelphia on Sunday that marked the Eagles' worst loss by far since they won last season's Super Bowl.In fact, it was the worst loss by a reigning Super Bowl champion."I haven't gotten my (butt) kicked like that in a long time," Eagles defensive end Chris Long said.Brees completed 22 of 30 passes and did not turn over the ball, giving him 25 TD passes and only one interception this season. Brees' fourth touchdown seemed to encapsulate New Orleans' audacious approach to the game. He hit running back Alvin Kamara in stride down the right sideline for a 37 yards on a fourth-and-7 play that gave the Saints (9-1) a 45-7 lead early in the fourth quarter."It's hard to stop us," Kamara said.Receiver Michael Thomas said the Eagles were "just in the way, next team up. We just had to do what we had to do, regardless."Brees' other touchdown passes went for 3 yards to Austin Carr, 15 yards to rookie Tre'Quan Smith and 23 yards to Thomas. Smith finished with 10 catches for 157 yards, while Thomas' four catches for 92 yards made him the first receiver in Saints history to surpass 1,000 yards receiving in each of his first three seasons.Mark Ingram rushed 16 times for 103 yards, including touchdowns of 14 yards and 1 yard. Kamara added 71 yards to help New Orleans finish with 546 total yards and score at least 40 for the sixth time this season.Meanwhile, New Orleans' defense produced a second straight dominant showing after largely stifling Cincinnati the previous week. The Saints now have outscored their past two opponents 99-21 combined Trey Hendrickson Jersey Stitched , is not easy to do in a league known for competitive balance."It blows my mind, too, trust me," said Saints defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins, who had one of three sacks on Carson Wentz. "That just speaks volumes not only to the type of talent we have on this team but how locked in everybody is. I think everybody knows how special we can be and everyone knows the end goal. If everybody here isn't thinking Super Bowl then they're in the wrong locker room."DESCENDING EAGLESWentz was intercepted three times 鈥?once by Marshon Lattimore and twice by Chris Banjo 鈥?and finished with 156 yards on 19-of-33 passing.Time will tell if the lopsided loss marked the beginning of the end of the Eagles' title defense. Philadelphia (4-6) remained two games behind Washington (6-4) for first place in the NFC East, but more injuries befell its already depleted lineup. The Eagles offered virtually no resistance to New Orleans and looked thoroughly outclassed by the surging Saints.Rookie running back Josh Adams rushed for a 28-yard TD that pulled the Eagles within 17-7 in the second quarter, but the Saints responded with a Smith's TD on which the receiver held onto a hard throw over the middle while being sandwiched by two defenders. That made it 24-7 at halftime and the game was not competitive after that."The product we're putting out there is not up to our standards," Wentz said. "I'm not playing up to my standards, but we know the talent we have."ANOTHER RECORDTwice this season, Brees has thrown for four TDs in a game without an interception, giving him an NFL-record 23 such performances in his career. His latest put him one ahead of New England's Tom Brady.INJURIESEagles: Center Jason Kelce hurt his left elbow in the first quarter and was replaced by Stefen Wisniewski. Safety Avonte Maddox left with a knee injury on New Orleans' second possession. Defensive back Rasul Douglas had to be helped off the field with a left leg injury in the third quarter. Long snapper Rick Lovato was taken from the game to be evaluated for a concussion.Saints: Right guard Larry Warford left to be evaluated for a concussion in the third quarter and was replaced by Cameron Tom.UP NEXTEagles: Host the New York Giants on Sunday.Saints: Host Atlanta on Thursday night.

It brings me great pleasure to share with you my 1 Michael Gallup Jersey Stitched ,000th article over here at Blogging The Boys. And what better way to celebrate it than to talk about my favorite person within the Dallas Cowboys organization - Jason Garrett. Sure, he’s not everyone’s favorite and for some people - he’s at the bottom of your list, but hey - that’s what makes us all unique. When the Cowboys were 3-5 at the midway point this season, Jason Garrett’s approval rating was at an all-time low. The hot seat was pretty toasty at that time if you were listening to the scuttlebutt all across Cowboys Nation. Of course, Jerry Jones never wavered on his faith in his head coach and he had to feel pretty darn good when the Cowboys went on a run to finish the season. Another NFC East title was great, but then another divisional playoff loss was not so great and here we are again wondering what to expect next.Garrett will be sticking around, but his former offensive coordinator Scott Linehan is not. And after many fans were hoping for less Garrett, it’s possible we could be seeing even more Garrett should he take on the play-calling responsibilities. How does that make you feel? Here are three reasons you should feel pretty good about what’s coming down the pike for the Cowboys.Reason #1 - The rebuild is almost completeJason Garrett isn’t just a coach. He’s a team-builder. You hear all this talk about his “process” and how he is “building a team the right way,” but it’s a legit blueprint. He’s doing what he set out to do. Year after year, Garrett has remodeled each position group. It started out with a complete overhaul of an aging offensive line. After never taking an offensive lineman in the first-round of the draft since owning the team, Jones’ Cowboys took Tyron Smith during Garrett’s first year as head coach. They selected two more first-round lineman over the next three years in the draft. All three are All-Pro’s. Then came the defensive line overhaul, then secondary, and last year it was the pass catchers as both the wide receivers and tight end position groups were completely blown up.It’s frustrating to always listen to him talk about him improving the roster, but at least he’s kept the team competitive while he’s done it. He’s only had one losing season as a head coach and it came during a season where the team had no competent quarterback option after Tony Romo got hurt. Besides that 2015 season Cheap Allen Hurns Youth Jersey , the team has battled for playoff contention in every year. Not only have they won the NFC East in three of the last five seasons, but Garrett’s done it with three different teams. Only two players have started all three divisional playoff games.Reason #2 - SustainabilityPart of building the team the right way is that success can be repeated. The days of taking shortcuts are over. Dallas builds through the draft and they now have plenty of money to pay their top performers. That hasn’t always been the case. While the Cowboys haven’t been able to win the big prize, each new season brings about new hope because the team continues to trend in the right direction. Are you excited about next season? Of course you are. Other teams have flashed some great seasons, but they’ve had trouble sustaining their success. The New York Giants have had five losing seasons over the last six years. In 2016, they were praised for all that free agent spending and it was good enough for a wild card playoff appearance, but have since only won 25% of their games over the last two years. Some of their high-priced free agents aren’t even on the team anymore. The Philadelphia Eagles were also applauded for great front-office maneuvers. They won their first Super Bowl in franchise history last season. They tried to keep their success going by trading away a draft pick to get Golden Tate, but that turned out to be a costly rental. The Eagles are in the worst financial position of anyone in the league as they are $16 million over the cap. They’re going to have even more cost-cutting moves this offseason which will weaken their roster. And who knows what’s going on with their quarterback situation? Just a year ago, they were on top of the world. Now, they’re at a crossroad. The San Francisco 49ers looked like the next best thing under Jim Harbaugh, but they have missed the playoffs the last five seasons and gone through four different coaches. They’ve have five different quarterbacks lead their team in passing since 2011 dating back to when Alex Smith was still behind center.Winning games in the postseason is still what ails this Cowboys team, but let’s not pretend this isn’t a winning football team right now.Reason #3 - The play-callerGarrett is known for being a great motivator of his players. Nobody denies that. This team plays with a lot of fight. The issue comes when the Cowboys get out-coached with the X’s and O’s. After being one of the top offensive teams in the league not too long ago, the offense has slid considerably. They’ve have the leading rusher in three of the last five seasons, including Ezekiel Elliott in 2016 and 2018, but the passing game has diminished. Linehan is gone and the Cowboys are in search of a new play-caller Youth Dorance Armstrong Jersey , but it could be a familiar coach who might be the de facto offensive coordinator going forward. Reports are that Garrett could be in line to call plays for this offense.Fans may grimace over the idea that the hopes of sprucing up the passing game falls on Garrett, but they shouldn’t. He’s had success doing just that. Check out the team’s passing stats over the last 12 seasons (the top 10 finishes are highlighted in green):I included the team’s leading passer in there to show that success in the air isn’t just Romo dependent. In fact, the common denominator for finishing in the top 10 in passing isn’t Romo at quarterback, but rather Garrett as the play-caller.Garrett handed over play-calling responsibilities in 2013 to Bill Callahan after it was believed freeing Garrett up would have a better overall effect on the success of the team. That wasn’t the answer as the team again finished 8-8 and the passing offense declined considerably. Callahan was replaced with Linehan and the team went on to make the playoffs three times, but the passing offense kept getting worse. Part of this was the emergence of a strong rushing attack, but the team lost it’s way to help move the ball through the air.The team is taking steps to help improve in that department. Adding Amari Cooper certainly will help. Drafting Michael Gallup should pay dividends as well. But giving Garrett more play-calling duties may also be the winning ticket in helping get the passing game back on track. Regardless of who is named the new offensive coordinator, look for Garrett to take more control of the offense. He’s built the team his way, he’s got them all playing with a relentless spirit, and now it’s time for them to run his offense. This team is truly becoming Jason Garrett’s team and it won’t be much longer before we all realize that’s a very good thing. Throughout the years the Senior Bowl has done an excellent job of finding small school talents and getting them to Mobile to help their draft stock. This year, Oshane Ximinies is one of the best small schoolers here participating. Oshane Ximines is a redshirt senior out of Old Dominion, a small school in Norfolk, Virginia. In his four years at ODU, Ximines recorded 32.5 sacks, 51 tackles for loss Dorance Armstrong Jersey Stitched , 176 total tackles, 11 forced fumbles, and 12 passes defended. Ximines’ production at ODU improved in every year, and so did his level of play on the field. The 6’3 1/2”, 241-lb defensive end is a pass rush technician due to his hand placement, variety of pass rush moves, and ability to use the length (33 3/8” arms) he has to the best of his abilities. Though he is undersized, Ximines plays much larger than his listed numbers would suggest. While he’s both on the shorter and lighter side, the former ODU rusher has mass and power where it matters most. At the point of attack, Ximines plays with great hand placement, arm strength, and leverage to hold off offensive lineman and free himself tot get to the ball carrier in the run game. When rushing the passer, he has less than ideal bend and flexibility in his lower half, so he relies on his relentlessness and technique to win on the edge. Ximines consistently mirrors offensive lineman’s hand placement which allows him to keep lineman from getting inside hand placement and control him at the point of attack. Along with his elite hand work Youth Dalton Schultz Jersey , he has a wide variety of pass rush moves that allows him to get home even with his lack of true athleticism and burst. At ODU, he showed swims, cross-chops, push-pull, and two-hand swipes to clear offensive linemen’s hands away from his chest plate. Where Oshane Ximines limitations come in are in the athletic ability areas of his game. He lacks ideal bend, speed, and flexibility in his hips and legs. One of my favroite things about Ximines is while not being blessed with elite size, athletic traits, or flexibility, the guy still knows how to get home. The EDGE position in Dallas is far from a glaring need, but adding a guy that can (hopefully) complement DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory off the edge would certainly help take this defense to the next level. Blogging The Boys was able to speak with Oshane after day one of Senior Bowl practices to see how the day went, and what he would like to improve on as the week progresses. Check out the official interview with Old Dominion EDGE Oshane Ximines.

This certainly places more pressure on rookies and second-year players to impact the outcome of football games. The bad news is that this will sometimes breed some inconsistencies and growing pains. The good news is that the Colts rookie class has continued to handle the heavy workload quite well and all of this early experience could payoff considerably down the road due to intensive player development. As has been the case all season, young Colts played a major role in the outcome of Sunday’s home divisional game against the Texans. Let’s take a look at their contributions and see how their impact is changing.OffenseThe offensive contributions are still heavily influenced by Quenton Nelson and running backs Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines. Nelson has still played every down in 2018 and has established himself as a building block for the unit’s future. He was visibly abused on a stunt by Jadeveon Clowney on Sunday but is still the best young lineman on the team. The running game is starting to fall off entirely in Indianapolis. This is certainly impacting the role and production for rookie rushers Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines. Wilkins only carried the ball 8 times for 16 yards and Hines rushed 4 times for 10 yards. Neither player was particularly effective but when the play-calling balance is 62 passes to 14 runs (excluding quarterback scrambles), it won’t be easy to get things going.Indianapolis fell behind early in the first half that saw little signs of offensive life. This certainly changed the game plan and the half time adjustment was to put the team on Andrew Luck’s shoulders and move the ball through the air. No player was a greater beneficiary of the new game plan than Hines. This was a breakout game for him as a receiver and as a facet of the passing offense. He caught a team high 9 passes on a team high 11 targets for 63 yards and 2 touchdowns. With second-year running back Marlon Mack still on the sideline and veteran Robert Turbin serving the final game of his suspension, Wilkins and Hines dominates the offensive snaps. Hines was in the game for 68% of offensive snaps with Wilkins gathering 35% of the opportunities. The only other running back to take a snap was Jeremy McNichols with 2 total.DefenseThe Colts run defense has continued to look strong through four games but the pass defense struggled against the Texans. This could be partially due to injuries keeping Quincy Wilson out of the game and ending Kenny Moore’s day early but Houston was able to effectively move the ball through the air. I think it’s fair to point out that fans might be overlooking at least 14 points that Houston scored that were essentially due to offensive mistakes in the first half — meaning that the defense was far better than the score indicates — but the final passing play in overtime was a prime example of some of the struggles the unit faced.Rookie linebacker Darius Leonard didn’t have a signature play this week but he did continue to set the tone for all of the defense. He missed his first snap of the season after hobbling off of the field but was immediately back in, gathering 99% of the defensive snaps. He led the team with 13 tackles Malik Hooker Jersey , including 8 solos and 1 sack. Through four weeks, Leonard’s 54 tackles is 8 more than any other player this season and one of the highest four week totals in history. Also this:There is nothing more fans can ask from Leonard to this point in the season. He has vastly outperformed any legitimate expectation and has to be considered a front runner for NFL defensive rookie of the year. It is exciting to imagine what he will be able to accomplish if he can stay healthy the rest of the way. The other rookie defensive contributor is edge rusher Kemoko Turay. He followed up a breakout performance against the Eagles by adding another half sack on an impressive play against the Texans. He has been visibly improving and has created pressure on the quarterback for much of the season. His stat sheet also included another quarterback hit. He led all other rookies with 36% of the defensive snaps. The only other rookie to see the field on defense was linebacker Zaire Franklin who took five total snaps and continued to out-pace veteran Najee Goode who took only 1.Second-year contributors, Malik Hooker and Nate Hairston continued to be relied upon for a full days work on defense, taking every snap. Linebacker Anthony Walker took 84% of the defensive snaps with Kenny Moore behind him at 37%. Moore left the field with concussion early in the game and did not return.Of the second-year players, the biggest contribution came from Anthony Walker who finished the game with 10 tackles, including 9 solos Clayton Geathers Jersey Stitched , a sack, and 2 tackles for a loss. He continues to play a bigger and bigger role in the Colts new defense and has been promising since he returned from injury. Hooker finished the game with 2 tackles, Hairston with 4, and Moore with 3.

The offseason is also the optimism season in the NFL Youth Zack Martin Jersey , as almost every fanbase points to the factors that are going to make this year better (or in the case of the reigning Lombardi Trophy holder, why they will be back). That is certainly true for those of us who follow the Dallas Cowboys. They have finally made a much-needed move on the coaching staff, the team is young and talented, and there are not many crying needs to fill on the roster. As was mentioned, however, almost all fans have something similar to bolster their hopes. Yet every year, things just go wrong for many, if not most, teams. They are things either unforeseen or, more commonly, just ignored. Murphy is always lurking with his law, though. So casting aside my normal hopeful view, here are four possible things that could go wrong in Dallas, all of which could make for a very unpleasant year. The DLaw re-signing goes awryKeeping the services of defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence is the number one priority for free agency. Given the relatively abundant cap space the team has this season, it is expected that the Joneses will not let this one get away. That fish isn’t landed yet, and it is one of the biggest ones in this year’s free agent group, with many lists having him number one. This creates something of a quandary for Jerry Jones. He can go big to get a deal done before Lawrence hits the market, or he can risk someone making him an offer and starting a bidding war.Don’t forget something very important: Lawrence can do whatever he wants. We assume he is happy with the Cowboys, but what if he would be happier somewhere else? This puts at least some pressure on Dallas to not be too firm in negotiations. If Lawrence feels like he is not being respected, or the team is playing too much hardball, he can simply cut off negotiating and let it be known he is ready to entertain offers. The Cowboys’ only real leverage here is to use the franchise tag again, but that is both expensive (it would be about $20.6 million for a second consecutive tag) and would risk alienating Lawrence, who took the first year with good grace. But there is always a risk he could go all Le’Veon Bell and hold out. It still looks like a new contract will get done. It’s just not a certainty.Fredbeard may not come back at full strengthMaybe it was because it happened before the season even started, but it is sometimes overlooked that the loss of center Travis Frederick to Guillain-Barr茅 syndrome was the biggest personnel issue of 2018. The Cowboys’ scheme is founded on their offensive line, and Frederick is certainly a key part of that. Given that the team was introducing rookie Connor Williams at left guard, and it can be argued that Frederick’s role was the most important this past season. Now, we are all hoping that he will be back and his old self to start 2019. The problem is, medical issues are not always predictable. And this is a lot more complex than something like an ACL tear or a shoulder separation that has been dealt with repeatedly over the years. GBS was a real threat to Frederick’s career. There have been nothing but positive reports on his recovery, but until he is at least in the offseason conditioning program Zack Martin Jersey Stitched , there is no hard data. We really won’t know for sure until he takes the field, and it may not be until the first regular season game that the answer is definitive. We just have to cross our fingers. If he is at all limited from what he has been in the past, it will affect the entire offense. For that matter, we can’t be sure he will be cleared to play for that first game. And that is a scary proposition.Dak and the new offensive staffThis may seem a bit far-fetched, but in case you haven’t noticed, this article is all about unleashing you inner paranoiac. The ascension of Kellen Moore to OC and the addition of Jon Kitna are believed to be very positive for Dak Prescott. But what if they aren’t? Now, before you throw rocks at your screen, this is strictly a devil’s advocate/worst-case scenario kind of thing, and I most assuredly do not think this is going to be the case. But what if Prescott doesn’t handle the expected new wrinkles well? What if he just can’t make the corrections to his footwork and technique that Kitna has discussed in videos posted on social media? What if, to coin a phrase, he just isn’t who we think he is?It is an NFL truism that your quarterback is the most important player you put on the field. The Cowboys are all in on Dak now. They could be forced into going a different direction, but that would be an expensive and hardly certain way to go. If the offense is going to get better, Prescott is the funnel things have to go through. If he struggles, everything struggles. Again, let me say that I do not expect this to be an issue. But Murphy is out there. We have to hope the offensive issues were really with Linehan, not GarrettAll three of the previously mentioned possible stumbling blocks have a lot of evidence to make them seem rather unlikely. But the question of just where the issues with the offense really originated is one we are having to guess on quite a bit. The Cowboys’ offensive scheme is one overseen at a minimum by Jason Garrett, and we really don’t know how much of the conservative, predictable, and at times downright stubborn approach was on Scott Linehan, and how much may have been a result of his marching orders from Garrett. That is a bit disconcerting. It might seem a stretch to say that Linehan may have been a case of scapegoating. But the shakeup to the offensive staff just a year ago certainly looked like that was the case then. That time it was to Linehan’s benefit, and subsequent events showed that the team could have been better served by not waiting until this year to part ways. Now we have to find out if Garrett is indeed able to change his ways. He has shown an ability to run a pass-first offense in the past, but that was before the team brought in Ezekiel Elliott and invested so much in the O line to be dominant. Garrett definitely was deeply involved in that evolution. We just don’t know how much he will be willing to move away from that. He has to listen to Moore about new ideas and concepts. But Moore is inexperienced, and has never known a head coach other than Garrett. If push comes to shove, it is no question that Garrett would win without intervention from above.A contract extension for Garrett has been put on the shelf and created a make-or-break season for him. Garrett has done rather well in those situations in the past. But that doesn’t tell us just what he is willing to do this time. If he is open to his coordinator, things could all work out. But if he believes that running into a loaded box is still a path to success, and pushes for those kinds of calls, then trouble is likely ahead. Those are my four biggest areas where problems could create another unsuccessful season for the Cowboys. I certainly hope I am just seeing phantoms. The Dallas Cowboys have selected a defensive end in each of the last five drafts. Will they get another one this year? Here are six potential candidates and when the Cowboys should target them in the 2019 NFL Draft."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Dallas Cowboys News2019 NFL Draft: Six defensive prospects for the Cowboys and when they should target them New,49commentsThe Cowboys are sitting in good shape at defensive end, but that doesn’t mean they won’t take one in the upcoming draft.CDTShareTweetShareShare2019 NFL Draft: Six defensive prospects for the Cowboys and when they should target them Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY SportsThe Dallas Cowboys recently signed their star pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence to a lucrative five-year deal. The team also traded for veteran edge rusher Robert Quinn. On top of all that Youth Travis Frederick Jersey , the team has several young pass rusher prospects like Randy Gregory, Taco Charlton, and Dorance Armstrong on their roster that they are hoping will be a part of their future. On the surface, it doesn’t appear as if the Cowboys need a defensive end, but things can change in a hurry. Regardless of the condition of the Cowboys defensive end position group, the team has taken an edge rusher in each of the last five drafts. In the spirit of collecting talent, defensive ends are very much on the table in the upcoming draft, but which players are the Cowboys likely to show interest in? And what rounds are they likely to be drafted? Here are six defensive ends that could hear their name called when the Cowboys are on the clock.SECOND ROUNDJaylon Ferguson, Louisiana TechYou’d think that college football’s all-time sack leader would generate a lot more buzz entering the draft, but despite his 45 career sacks Ferguson just isn’t the prototype edge rusher most teams are looking for. He doesn’t have the build as he’s a little on the thick side, his bend is terrible, and he just doesn’t offer much athleticism. He gets off the snap okay, but isn’t twitched up like Rod Marinelli prefers. Despite all that, the Louisiana Tech defensive end has four years of outstanding production and it’s hard to argue with results. Steven Erler-USA TODAY SportsWhile the physical traits are lacking, Ferguson makes up for it with the mental ones. He relies on his instincts and lateral quickness to get past blockers. He’s got violent hands and uses them extremely well. His long arms and power to push-pull and snatch allows him to have his way with blockers. He’s very perceptive as to what the offensive linemen give him and knows how to attack their weaknesses. Ferguson is very solid against the run as he sticks with his assignments and uses his long arms to bring down ball carriers.Ferguson doesn’t have the high ceiling of an elite edge rusher, but possesses the ability to be a solid fixture along the defensive line at the NFL level. Would that be enough to justify using the 58th overall pick on him?THIRD ROUNDZach Allen, Boston CollegeThe Eagles defensive linemen is another trench warrior that could fall through the cracks of the draft. He doesn’t have the explosiveness you’d expect from most edge rushers, nor does he have the play strength to anchor down and defend interior gaps. His athleticism is good, but not great and he doesn’t offer great pass rushing appeal, only recording 16.5 sacks his entire four-year college career. That’s one less than Ferguson had last season alone. But with Allen, you’re not getting a sack master; you’re getting a high energy football player who has the propensity to make impact plays. In 2017, he racked up an impressive 100 total tackles. Allen is highly instinctive and knows how to work around blockers. He’s just a guy that finds a way to make plays, whether it’s batting down passes or blocking kicks. The amount of hustle he displays makes him a consistent finisher. While he doesn’t look like he can be great at any one thing, he possesses a wide range of attributes that allows him to play both inside and out. Something tells me he’ll find his niche in the NFL and that could lead to one heck of a defensive linemen.Jachai Polite, FloridaThe Florida star edge rusher is an interesting prospect. On tape, he’s a late first-round talent even with such a deep class of pass rushers. But upstairs, he brings with him all kinds of concerns that will inevitably hurt his draft stock. Where he falls will depend on just how badly his off field indiscretions play with NFL teams.Bryan Lynn-USA TODAY SportsPolite has all the athletic traits you look for in an edge rusher. He can bend, he’s got excellent get-off, and he’s got an assortment of pass rushing moves. He’s got great burst to get after his opponent and displays excellent chase-down speed. While he has no weaknesses as a pass rusher Travis Frederick Jersey Stitched , he offers up very little against the run, which takes him out of the running as a three-down player. The biggest concern with Polite is his character. Buzz about bad combine interviews and unimpressive workouts have generated some red flags. After the enigma of David Irving that saw an amazing talent fall to the wayside because of his immaturity, you’d have to believe it would take a considerable slide before the Cowboys would be willing to roll the dice with Polite.L.J. Collier, Texas ChristianTexas Christian’s L.J. Collier is another prospect that doesn’t wow anyone athletically, but constantly shows up on tape. His frame and lack of pass-rushing prowess makes him a questionable piece on the edge and at the same time he doesn’t have the size to withstand the every-play pounding of the inside. So, where does that leave Collier exactly?Collier is a tough guy who plays with a lot of aggression. He’s a clever pass rusher who always has a plan off attack and can sniff out weakness of his opponents. He is slow off the snap, but has a sudden burst that can get his blockers off balance, allowing him to bull rush right through them. Collier has active hands and strikes well, but his placement isn’t always where it needs to be. While he had a strong senior year, he only has one full season as a starter, but he could be on the rise. He had a good showing at the senior bowl and with the right coaching, he could offer up some nice upside.FOURTH ROUNDMaxx Crosby, Eastern MichiganLast year, the Cowboys were extremely excited when Dorance Armstrong was available in the fourth round as he was a nice development project they could put in their back pocket. A similar thing could happen this year if Eastern Michigan’s Maxx Crosby is still on the board when the team picks in Day 3.Crosby is an athletic specimen, finishing in the 90th percentile in every single one of the running and jumping categories at the combine. He’s a finesse pass rusher who has plenty of tape showing him winning. He’s got long strides to sneak around the edge and does a great job swiping at blockers. Crosby doesn’t have very good bend and often time plays too upright, allowing him to lose the leverage battle. His tackling leaves something to be desired as he has small hands without much strength to wrap up his opponents. It’s hard not lot like the potential he brings, but he’s going to need to add some bulk and strength to be an effective player in the NFL.FIFTH ROUNDJohn Cominsky, CharlestonIn continuing with the theme of non-prototypical defensive ends, Cominsky is one of those conundrums that begs the question... where will he fit in the NFL? He’s not an elite pass-rusher, he plays too upright, and he hasn’t figured out how to use the tools he has to be a consistent presence on the defensive line. Despite all of that, he shows a lot of positive things on tape that make him an interesting late-round option.Cominsky doesn’t have great get-off, but he’s relentless. The guy does everything he can to max out his potential. He put on over 70 pounds during his college tenure to get to 285. He’s an aggressive player and can make an impact in run support. Coming from a small school, his body of work comes from inferior competition, so it’s a little tougher to gauge just how good he is. Cominsky is an appealing development project the Cowboys should be able to land on Day 3 and they would have plenty of time to figure out where he would be the best feet.

With Jarvis Landry, Antonio Callaway and David Njoku playing really well — and Todd Haley calling the shots on offense — the Raiders may have their hands full this Sunday. Playmakers on the outside emerging Mike Williams: The former Clemson star is available in 52 percent of leagues, and that number is expected to go up as he continues to take advantage of his targets. Williams is showing his playmaking ability, tallying at least 80 yards or a touchdown in each game thus far. In PPR leagues, he’s averaging double digit figures at 11 points. With Richard Sherman down, and Keenan Allen dealing with a nagging knee injury Womens Andrew Luck Jersey , Williams is expected to garner even more targets from Phillip Rivers.San Francisco has allowed seven receivers to either score or gain 100 receiving yards in every game, setting up Williams to have a big day. Tyler Boyd: There may not be another receiver that his hotter than Boyd, grabbing 12 catches for 223 yards and two touchdowns on 16 targets over the last couple of games. There’s a chance Green could be out this week, giving Boyd even more targets. The Falcons have allowed seven receivers to score a touchdown this year, so Boyd may have a chance to visit the end-zone a time or two.

Gurley and Anderson largely substituted themselves, each waving the other on or off the field, depending on whether they were tired, or felt they had the metaphorical hot hand.Anderson, who won a Super Bowl with the Broncos three years ago, still seems a bit surprised to be deep in the playoffs just a few weeks after he was unemployed. He understands his place in the Rams' larger picture, and he willingly defers to Gurley."Whatever Todd wanted to do, we were going to ride with anyway," Anderson said of the substitution plan against Dallas. "If he wanted to play 98 percent of the snaps, we were going to let the man be the man. That's why he's one of the best backs in the league."But I think him seeing the opportunity of being fresh and not taking as many hits and (not) having the workload on passing downs and run downs, I think that helps him. And vice versa for myself. I've been in a position where I was a starter and I was the same way, when I was in Denver. I've always told him, ‘You want to be fresh,' and when you're fresh, obviously more explosive runs for the both of us."Gurley tore his knee ligament during his final season at Georgia Tre'Quan Smith Jersey Stitched , and his rookie season didn't start until the Rams' third game. Since then, he has been one of the NFL's most durable backs, even without having a heavily used backup.Malcolm Brown聽joined the Rams with Gurley in 2015, and he has been Gurley's primary backup during coach Sean McVay's two-year tenure.Brown averaged 4.9 yards on 43 carries this season, matching Gurley's per-carry average. But Brown has just 106 carries in the past two seasons to Gurley's 535, and he went on injured reserve last month after he injured his collarbone, forcing the Rams to sign Anderson.Gurley had the ball on 74 percent of the Rams' rushing plays in the 2016 season and 61 percent of the rushing plays in 2017. He carried the ball on 55 percent of LA's 459 rushing plays this season while sitting out the final two games as Anderson ran wild. Gurley also points out the obvious: Even with this fascinating tailback tandem, the Rams run the ball well because of their powerful offensive line."When we dominate at the line of scrimmage, nine times out of 10, we're going to win," Gurley said. "They always give the running backs the credit, but you see what those guys did.

2018 NFL Preseason Game 2: Baltimore Ravens vs. Indianapolis Colts Open Thread After a chippy end to joint practices Anthony Castonzo Jersey Stitched , the Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts will suit up for their second preseason game tonight at 8 PM ET. This will be the first opportunity for many of the young players on both rosters to play a game against opponents they have already had a chance to play against. This should help coaches get a read on how well their players adjust.Andrew Luck is expected to play into the second quarter tonight. He will likely be given the opportunity to expand the playbook a bit in his second outing and there is a reasonable chance that he takes his first deep shot against the Ravens as well. Some of that will be up to an offensive line that is still undergoing a lot of change. Anthony Castonzo will not start at left tackle and rookie Braden Smith may get the nod at right tackle. Let’s face it, the most important thing for Luck is to be smart about how he takes care of himself and to not allow rookies and second string players at tackle cause any setbacks in his progress for a return to regular season action.Keep an eye on the following players on each side of the ball to see if they can put their stamp on a roster spot and push for considerable playing time in 2018.DEFENSEHassan Ridgeway is likely on the roster bubble for a defensive line that is undergoing a lot of change. Last week, he made a statement by abusing Seattle’s third and fourth string line, generating pressure and tallying multiple sacks. Can he keep it up this week? Will he get a chance earlier in the game? Rookie linebackers Darius Leonard and Skai Moore will get their second chance at making an impression on Colts fans. Leonard has already earned a reputation for being a very athletic linebacker, unlike any in Indianapolis for some time. Moore has brought his ball-hawking persona along with him from college and made life difficult in the center of the field in training camp. Will they show meaningful progress from the first preseason game to the next? What can Quincy Wilson do to stand out from his competition? Somehow Kenny Moore, Nate Hairston, and Pierre Desir appear to be ahead of him on the depth chart. This has to motivate Wilson, right?OFFENSEHow will Braden Smith perform in his second game? He will likely get a chance to play at tackle and guard again so he will be worth monitoring at both positions. His development could be crucial this year as the right tackle spot is up in the air and he needs to push for starting reps given his high draft position. How much earlier will Jordan Wilkins get to play? If he gets to play with the first team offensive line, will he look even better than he did against Seattle? There is a real chance that Wilkins can push his way up on the depth chart before Week 1. There is even a chance he could push his way to the top of the depth chart before Robert Turbin returns from his suspension in Week 5. Which pass-catcher will step forward? Deon Cain was lost to a season-ending ACL injury and K.J. Brent suffered an injury during training camp practice. This puts more pressure on a group that already had a lot of question-marks. Can Kasen Williams take advantage of his opportunity? Will Reece Fountain make his presence felt?SIGN UP FOR STAMPEDE BLUE FAN PULSEWe are considered the voice of the fan here at Stampede Blue and we talk every day about how the Indianapolis Colts are doing--whether they’ll win their upcoming game or how Colts fans feel about that awful call from the referees. Welcome to the weekly conspiracy report where I, Chris Shepherd, will examine nefarious plots around the league and expose them for what they are. Now sure, I won’t be able to provide you any “proof” and no I don’t have any sources (that you know of). What follows should be treated purely as entertainment that include plausible (and not so plausible) scenarios that no one employed by NFL teams would ever admit to, I accept no responsibility for anything you do with the information I’m about to give you. In fact I accept no responsibility for anything you’re about to read, at all.In this week four expos茅 of NFL conspiratorial glory we’re going to take a look at how Le’Veon Bell is saving himself for the Colts and the evidence that points to Chris Ballard asking him to do so. Theory: Chris Ballard is working with Le’Veon Bell to bring the elite running back to the ColtsThis is a theory less about the why either man would do it and more about how they’ve done it and the evidence that supports it. What if I told you everything you think you know about what Chris Ballard is looking for in a free agent is wrong? What if I told you Chris Ballard is planning on opening Jim Irsay’s checkbook in a big way in 2019? What if I told you that Chris Ballard has been preparing us all for Le’veon Bell’s eventual arrival? By now most of us probably think we understand how Chris Ballard is going to treat free agency: spend little, give no guaranteed money and build through the draft. That’s what I have assumed too. The thing that I like most about Chris Ballard is the fact that if you actually listen to what he says and you read between the lines, just a little, he’s going to tell you what he’s planning on doing. Until now we’ve heard Ballard talk often about building through the draft and spending in ways that make sense but what Chris Ballard said starting at the 13:00 minute mark in this interview with Pat McAfee is interesting. When asked if he would ever bring in big name free agents if they fit the system and culture:Ballard goes on a lot of tangents, but there are a lot of nuggets in here. First he talks a lot about building culture, directly following this answer Ballard and Reich discuss how they plan to have a tough team and how they plan to have that. Staring down week four it seemspretty obvious they’ve gone out and added guys who exemplify that culture starting with this guy:Eric Hartline-USA TODAY SportsSo the Colts have begun to build the culture they’re after Indianapolis Colts Gerri Green Jersey , they have the guys in the locker room that are beginning to guide the locker room in that direction. So what does that say about about what Ballard said about bringing in free agents? It says that while the team wasn’t ready to absorb those personalities this year with a team full of young guys and a locker room culture that needed to be built, it says that the team will be ready to add those big free agents very soon. So how do we get to Le’Veon Bell? Well that’s really simple:Le’Veon Bell is telling us he wants to play for the Colts and it makes sense, he would upgrade the running back position, he would get to play with a good quarterback and the Colts have a ton of cap space. But if that’s all he’s looking for why isn’t he commenting on the Jets, Texans, Browns or 49ers Instagram posts? All of these teams have promising young quarterbacks, Bell would be an upgrade and the 49ers are the only team who will have less than $85 million in open cap space heading into 2019 and the 9ers will still have $69 million. Yes, the Colts have the most cap space but any of those teams could sign him and fit that criteria, yet he’s focused on the Colts, why? Because Chris Ballard has clearly informed Bell of his intention to sign him in the off season. Le’Veon Bell told all of his teammates leading up to the season that he would be back with the team before week one, so when he didn’t make good on his word his teammates were naturally upset. So what changed for Bell? Why would he tell everyone one thing and then do another? What if a rival company reached out to you and promised to make you wealthy beyond your wildest dreams as long a you figured out a way to call in sick for the rest of the year and come in fresh and ready in the spring? Would you do it? Yeah, I would too. Seems like a win, win. Sure, Le’Veon probably knew that the Steelers were going to run him into the ground this year but unless he had some kind of assurance from someone Womens Gerri Green 2019 Jersey , pulling this move, one that makes him look like a bad teammate could mean he could be forced to take a contract much smaller than the one the Steelers would have offered.Instead it makes far more sense that somehow, someway Chris Ballard sat back and looked at his team and he liked what was developing in the locker room. He liked what he saw from his coaches. He liked the youth and the atmosphere that has been created on West 56th street. He sat back and looked at what he has created this far and realized that he was a few play makers short of a championship caliber team. He realized this and then he realized if he could get one of those play makers in the upcoming free agency period and add two or three more with the three picks the Colts will have in the first two rounds of the 2019 draft, if he could do that, the Colts are instant contenders. We know Chris Ballard always has a plan, he’s talked about his binders quite a bit actually. I think it’s obvious that Chis Ballard opened up his 2019 free agency binder and on the first page is this man’s face:Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty ImagesIf you’re wondering about possible issues with the NFL’s tampering rules, oh grow up! It’s simple, Ballard just has to mention to his agent (Bob LaMonte) how he wants to pay Bell an obscene amount of money in 2019 as long as Bell sits the year out so he can give the Colts everything he’s got and Ballard’s agent calls up Bell’s agent (Adisa Bakari) and tells him a “funny story” he heard about his client that day. One thing leads to another and Le’Veon Bell is making googly eyes at every single Instagram post the Indianapolis Colts put up. Oh and trades? Don’t worry about a trade, Bell would have to agree to a contract and I’m sure Bakari could just give LaMonte a call and the two old friends could swap stories until Bell is convinced he just isn’t going to play this year. Ladies and gentlemen the starting running back for the 2019 Indianapolis Colts will be Le’Veon Bell, just as Chis Ballard planned it. *Once again, please note this article is purely meant for entertainment and the conversation it can create. "I'm just getting started."And so ends Cleveland's 19-game winless streak, the NFL's second-longest since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. The Browns (1-1-1) trailed 14-0 in the first half before Mayfield came in for Taylor and led four scoring drives while winning an unexpected matchup against Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold. Cleveland passed on taking Darnold in the draft and instead chose Mayfield, the Heisman Trophy winner from Oklahoma.Mayfield finished 17 of 23 for 201 yards in a little more than a half after coming in after Taylor suffered a concussion.Darnold had one last chance, but was intercepted by Terrence Mitchell with 11 seconds left. When the final seconds ticked off the clock, Cleveland fans, who had endured a 0-16 season and waited nearly two years to see their Browns win Youth Shon Coleman Jersey , erupted in celebration.Refrigerators around the city stocked with Bud Lights were finally unlocked, and there figured to be more than a few beverages consumed in the hours ahead. This was just one win, and while it was an ending, it also felt like a beginning — because of Mayfield."Dilly, dilly to the Cleveland fans," Mayfield said, using the beer's commercial slogan. "It's not the only win we're going to celebrate."Isaiah Crowell had two touchdown runs for the Jets (1-2), who seemed in control when they took a 14-0 lead and knocked Taylor from the game.Newly signed Browns kicker Greg Joseph made field goals of 45 and 27 yards after being signed just three days ago.Browns coach Hue Jackson got just his second win in 35 games since being hired by owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam, and this win will ease some of the pressure he's been feeling to get Cleveland turned around. Jackson could also be faced with a difficult choice — either stick with Mayfield or go back to Taylor when he's healthy. The decision might not be as tough now.Jackson wouldn't commit to staying with Mayfield Shon Coleman Jersey Stitched , but referred to the performance as "his coming out party" several times.Mayfield made his NFL debut with 1:42 left in the second quarter, replacing an injured Taylor after Cleveland's starter was sacked for the third time. Taylor struggled getting to his feet after being dragged down by linebacker Avery Williamson, but he had absorbed several hard blows before that — and had been ineffective. With Cleveland's crowd roaring, Mayfield completed a 14-yard pass to Jarvis Landry on his first pass as a pro and then found tight end David Njoku for 17 yards. Mayfield drove Cleveland into field-goal position and Joseph, who signed with the team on Monday following a tryout, drilled a low line drive to pull the Browns within 14-3.Cleveland's plan was to have Mayfield watch and learn this season.Taylor's injury may change everything. For Darnold, a promising start ended with his second loss in three games. He completed 15 of 31 passes for 169 yards, but threw two picks late in the fourth as he tried to rally the Jets."I feel like I've got to play better and make better reads," Darnold said. "I need to be more decisive. We've got to make them pay and put the ball in our playmakers' hands."Hyde's 1-yard TD run pulled the Browns within 14-12 and Cleveland tied it with a trick 2-point play .Mayfield shifted to the left and the ball was snapped directly to running back Duke Johnson Youth Nate Orchard Jersey , who ran right and gave the ball to Landry on a reverse. Landry then lofted a pass into the end zone to Mayfield, whose conversion tied it and sent Cleveland fans into a frenzy.Crowell scored his second TD with 7:54 left in the second quarter, and was flagged for excessive celebrating when he squatted and wiped the ball on his backside before flinging it into the crowd.Crowell's untouched 7-yard run TD run came five plays after Jets linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis got a hand on Britton Colquitt's attempted punt and New York took over at Cleveland's 28.On the first play of the second quarter, Crowell took an inside handoff and raced into the end zone before firing the ball into the stands in celebration. Crowell spent four seasons with the Browns before signing a three-year, $12 million free agent contract with New York as a free agent in March.OH, BABYHyde arrived late for pregame warmups because his wife was giving birth. Jackson said as of late Thursday night the child had not yet been delivered.LONG AUDITIONJoseph stayed on the field and kicked by himself during the opening coin toss, and each of his makes drew a rousing ovation from Cleveland fans. Just a few days ago, Joseph was relaxing in South Florida with friends while Gonzalez missed four kicks in New Orleans and then got booted by the Browns.RADIO SILENCEThe Browns suspended radio reporter Nathan Zegura eight games for his conduct on the sideline during last Sunday's loss at New Orleans. Zegura, who also co-hosts the team's in-house radio broadcast Nate Orchard Jersey Stitched , can't work a game until Nov. 25. New,5commentsRound Two potential draftee would solidify the LB position EDTShareTweetShareShareLB Mack Wilson: How Would Drafting this Player in Round 2 Make the Browns Better? Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY SportsThe Browns will likely need to take a linebacker at some point in this year’s draft. Mack Wilson of Alabama is a smaller backer with great closing speed and should be available in the second round with pick number 49.Competitively he is tough as nails and will lay players out. He is exceptional with the delayed blitz. Did not see the advanced progression from sophomore campaign to his junior season, but is a dynamic defender. Will need to work on recognizing passing downs more quickly in order to get back into coverage situations. He has tremendous upside from a program that annually cranks out superior LBs at the next level. His weight for a LB might be a question, but the NFL in general appears to be transitioning towards the smaller, quicker linebackers who can shoot gaps and make hits on running downs. In his final season at Alabama he was used predominately at the Mike position but has played on the outside. The question that looms: are the Browns satisfied with the LBs they currently have especially with the outside backers? For one, Jamie Collins was recently cut. His backups are D’Juan Hines and Xavier Woodson-Luster. Hines has been on three practice squads and when activated played mainly on special teams with zero starts. Woodson-Luster has 12 total tackles in two seasons with the Raiders Desmond Harrison Jersey Stitched , Bills and Browns after spending time on each teams’ practice squad and has been waived four times. If the answer to that question is yes, then Wilson becomes a starter in waiting and a beast on special teams in the process. If the answer is probably not, then taking the Alabama product in the second-round can only mean one thing and one thing only – the Browns expect him to compete and start for that vacant position. (AP) — When Drew Brees became the NFL’s career leader in yards passing, he wanted to come up with some sort of gift to thank those who coached him, caught the 6,357 completions it took to set the record and blocked while he threw. His solution was an exhaustive process than involved the production of about 175 unique commemorative footballs and the enlisting Saints front office and public relations staff to help track down 99 receivers, 56 offensive linemen, 11 head or assistant coaches from his 18 pro seasons as well as others instrumental in his success. They began receiving their custom-made footballs this week, which pleased Brees because he wanted it done before Christmas.“Naturally you start thinking, ‘OK, well, a lot of people have caught those balls,” Brees said. “So let’s get a list of all the pass catchers and the number of catches and the number of yards and let’s put together a game ball for them and put those statistics on there for them Youth Wil Lutz Jersey , so they know that they have a piece of this and they were an important part of it.'”That’s how the effort started. But Brees soon realized he couldn’t just limit it to receivers.“It’s not just about the receivers. It’s about the guys blocking.’ So it’s like, ‘All right, let’s find every offensive lineman that’s ever started a game.’ So we did that,” Brees said. “Then I started thinking about coaches. Then I started thinking about other people as well. So it was actually a long list. But I just wanted to do that for them.”Even current Saints players, such as veteran tight end Ben Watson, received the balls at their homes — not the mail room or locker room at Saints headquarters.“It’s him. It’s surprising but it’s not surprising at the same time that he would give a special thanks to the guys that helped him along the way,” Watson said. “Obviously, this is his accomplishment. But him being the leader that he is, he loves to defer praise to other people.”Watson said he was “Just thankful to be able to play with him and be able to contribute to the greatness that he’s achieved.”Recipients included rookie receiver Tre’Quan Smith, who caught the 62-yard touchdown pass in Week 5 against Washington on which Brees surpassed the 71,940 yards passing of previous record-holder Peyton Manning.Smith said Brees’ gesture “shows what kind of guy he is Wil Lutz Jersey Stitched , and you want to be around somebody like that, who shows appreciation.”The package with ball included a typed letter signed by Brees. Receivers, linemen, coaches and other “contributors” each got different variations of the letter, depending on the nature of their roles in the record. The balls sent to retired players included the number of passes they caught from Brees and the total yardage of those catches. For example, the ball sent to Saints career receiving leader Marques Colston specifically recognized his 705 receptions for 9,709 yards. For current players, Brees didn’t include such stats, which grown since Manning’s old mark was eclipsed in October.Brees said he was gratified by text messages he’d received. Brandin Cooks sent him a video from the locker room at the headquarters of the former Saints receiver’s current team, the Los Angeles Rams.Former Chargers fullback Fred McCrary sent a video of himself holding his ball in a barber shop, boisterously bragging that he’s “famous today.”Brees said he’d also received a text Friday from former Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson.Recipients that Brees considered “contributors” included Dr. James Andrews Youth Michael Hoomanawanui Jersey , the surgeon who repaired the quarterback’s heavily damaged throwing shoulder in 2006, as well as independent throwing coach Tom House, Saints owner Gayle Benson and Saints general manager Mickey Loomis. Compiling numbers can be fun. And that’s what the good people at SportsFacts.org do. The good folks over at SportsFacts went through and compiled data on the injuries each NFL team the last four seasons. To the surprise of no Saints fans, the Saints had the most players placed on injured reserve the last four years combined:All in all, the Saints had 88 players placed on injured reserve the past four seasons - 11 in 2018, 27 in 2017, 31 in 2016, and 19 and 2015. The Saints actually made the playoffs in both 2018 and 2017 Michael Hoomanawanui Jersey Stitched , which should be especially an accomplishment considering these injury totals. The next two most injured teams were the Washington football team with 85 and the New York Jets with 82, but there was just one playoff season (Washington in 2015) between both teams over all four years.Obviously there are a few flaws with this methodology: it doesn’t differentiate those players placed on IR for the rest of the season versus those who eventually return. It also doesn’t account for when injuries happen. That is, one injury in Week 1 could be a bigger hurdle than two injuries in Week 16. It also doesn’t account for the caliber of player being placed on injured reserve nor the team’s record at the time of the injury. There might flaws with the way the data is presented, but it doesn’t change the fact the Saints have had a lot of injuriesrecently. While the Saints haven’t had it easy due to the number of injuries they’ve sustained, their division hasn’t made things any easier. The Atlanta Falcons were the second least-injured team (44), and both the Carolina Panthers (57) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (65) were just in the middle of the pack.

Colts Film Room: Andrew Luck connected on some phenomenal throws in Week 4 This week Cheap Alize Mack Youth Jersey , on a short Week 5 window between games for the Indianapolis Colts, we’re going to do Andrew Luck’s film review a bit differently. Under a different lens, if you will. Luck had his poor passes in this game like he undoubtedly will each and every game, one of which was in the most high-pressure situations of the game, no doubt. But, there were so many beautiful throws from the Colts quarterback that I felt maybe we should just bask in the joy of what he showed off this past Sunday.Obviously, it was in a losing effort, however, it’s hard to just casually write off a performance where Luck was 40-of-62 for 464 yards, and 4 passing scores. There were so many things he did right, such as, his timing on the release in coordination to the route being run, as well as footwork and the general movement inside of the pocket. Regardless of everything else, Luck is second in the league in pass attempts and completions, sixth in the league in completion percentage (67.2%) among QBs with at least 150 attempts this year, and is sporting a 3/1 touchdown-to-interception ratio to this point in the season. Thus, today’s review mainly covers some of my favorite throws from his Week 4 performance, regardless of the play’s outcome.Same route, in the red zone, two different formationsOne of the most common routes we’ve seen with the Colts this year — primarily with the running backs ~ Nyheim Hines — is the Texas route out of the backfield. But in Week 4, Frank Reich dialed up a new formation to use it, and with a different recipient. Zach Pascal initially lines up in the backfield White Marlon Mack Jersey , then goes in motion. Ultimately, this just leaves the backfield split, which the Colts used a little bit of in Week 4 throughout the game. Moving Pascal puts him outside of Ryan Hewitt who ran a shallow crosser designed to clear out some of the coverage across the middle of the field. Pascal now causes some confusion with his motion and sets up his coverage nicely using his own momentum to pick him up on this route. The route forces his assignment to continue to run while Pascal runs the base of the route, then on the break he’s already behind and can’t change directions quickly enough to recover.Luck puts this on the money and took care of the linebackers with his eyes. This was a thing of beauty to start the game on a very high note. Below, we see what the Colts typically do with this route. And, it’s almost exclusively Hines that runs it. Notice Hines to the left of Luck at the snap, the base of the route mimics the beginning of a flat route, then breaks inside in the shape of a V turned on it’s side. You can sort of tell that Hines and Luck were a bit off on their timing as Luck pumps it just before he releases the ball. My assumption here is that Hines went up field more than what the actual design calls for due to the coverage in the middle of the field. Had he cut sharp he wouldn’t have had the depth to get the ball into the end zone after the catch. Luck makes the adjustment, and as the pocket tightens in around him, he climbs the pocket just enough to get the ball out cleanly and on target. Low and precise. This is an underrated throw from the game if you ask me.The deep ball to T.Y. Hilton, peripheral readsOne of the things I’ve really like that Reich has set up with this system, and for Luck, is what I’ll call a peripheral read. There’s another one of these in a clip a little later in the review, but ultimately it allows Luck to read two receivers somewhat simultaneously — with them both in his line of vision — in order to improve decision-making and to keep defenders with their initial assignment. In other words, Luck will naturally be able to choose the best option without having to worry about telegraphing what he’s doing. This deep ball to Hilton is a great example of this. Jordan Wilkins comes down in motion in order to chip on J.J. Watt (smart), but Watt takes the inside track towards Luck. Afterwards, Wilkins leaks out in to the flat, and Hilton beats his coverage with a vertical route. This is not only a slap in the face to those questioning Luck’s arm strength, but it’s also a great read with the safeties rotating into a cover-3 look at the snap. Luck has a care free throw with no worries of help over the top for the cornerback getting roasted off the line by Hilton. Multiple progressions, and a cross-body bulletChester Rogers really had a pretty good game with Hilton on the shelf for a significant amount of this game. Here is one of his best of the day. With the Texans only rushing three in the red zone here, Luck gets a little longer to get through multiple reads within the play. The offensive line holds up (they better) and Luck starts all the way to his right with Pascal who’s running the post route, but the corner has MOF help from the safety. He then moves to the Texas route from Hines that we’ve seen already two other times in the red zone and passes on that option too.Luck’s clock goes off right about now and escapes the pocket to his left and keeps his eyes downfield. There are double hooks on the field side of the play with Rogers being the inside receiver and Ryan Grant on the outside. Rogers comes back to the middle of the field to give Luck another angle and Luck goes across his body and momentum and throws a seed to Rogers and only where he can get to it. The coverage is solid Marlon Mack Jersey 2019 , but Luck squeezes it into a very small window and Rogers makes a fantastic catch in a big spot. Another tight window throw, after multiple progressionsThis is another one of those fantastic throws in which we get reminded that Luck is one of very few QBs in the league who can make this toss. Again, we see two things that are very encouraging. Luck is being protected pretty well, and he’s doing much better with his footwork and getting through his progressions to find a receiver.Luck looks off the 5-yard square-in to his left, then looks past Eric Ebron on his 10-yard square-in in quick succession. Luck then resets his feet to his right, finds Rogers and hits him on the post in the tightest of windows. First, Luck has to get the trajectory over the outstretched arm of the linebacker. Then, in between two other defenders which features an amazing combination of touch and velocity. Any other combination of the two factors, and this is a pick in a crucial point in the game. There is so much to love about this throw.Another peripheral read for big yardageRemember the third clip? Well, here’s another one of those. There’s a very similar pre-snap setup with Rogers coming down towards the formation in motion to help on Watt. Rogers gets a piece of him which helps Denzelle Good tremendously. If he doesn’t chip on this, three defenders likely get a piece of Luck before he releases the ball despite having this play designed to speed up the read. After Rogers chips, he releases into the flat holding the cornerback shallow who has now outed himself as being in man-coverage. You can barely see Ebron occupying the seam here which helps some with the safety, and Hilton runs this corner route to perfection. With how these route combinations are designed, Luck has a large window and his most trusted receiver to deliver a perfect ball with perfect footwork earning big yardage.Just one more point on the footwork here. Watch Luck. He gets to the top of his drop, hops forward with no wasted steps or movements, and delivers within his natural movement. It’s perfect, and I hope we see more of this Thursday night.Precision passing/quick processing 101Here’s one of the throws that Luck makes that will never be on any highlight reel, anywhere... Okay, maybe just here. It almost looks inaccurate, but this couldn’t befurther from the truth. We see Ebron running this hook route that the Colts seem to love so much, with two linebackers waiting to A) make a play on the ball, and B) lay out Ebron if at all possible. Now Womens Skai Moore 2019 Jersey , Ebron doesn’t pull this one in and it was just one example of what became a real problem for a long stretch in the first half of the game for the Colts.Luck did Ebron a massive favor here. As he takes his drop Luck again shows pristine footwork by hitting that back foot and ever-so-slightly shifting to his left — remarkably all in one motion — avoiding Jadaveon Clowney’s arm as he comes off the edge, and delivering a perfect ball away from the WILL linebacker (#41) who is reading Luck’s eyes. If Luck throws this to the predetermined spot for the end of the route, it’s possibly picked off or tipped-and-picked or Ebron gets sawed in half from the hit he’d incur. Luck saw the WILL during his drop and knew he’d be there to break on the pass. This is maximum usage of his vision and precision in such a quick process. Again, not a highlight reel clip, but more than noteworthy I’d say.Perfect ball placement, timingHere we see Luck’s touch coming into play in the best way. In the red zone, again, but no it’s not a Texas route this time for Hines. Hines runs a really smooth out-and-up combination here as Pascal smashes that shallow post and taking his man-coverage with him to the middle of the field. Again notice Luck’s timing with his feet and arm action being perfectly synced here. As Hines moves up the boundary towards the end zone Luck puts the perfect touch on this ball to the 5-foot-9 Hines over Tyrann Mathieu who really could only have missed getting a piece of this ball by centimeters.Le’Raven Clark and Good do enough to get the pass rush off the edge pushed out in order for Luck to step into this throw on time and with fantastic accuracy. The interior chews up the Texans two defensive tackles and spits them out which plays a major part in this as well. And with that, you see the end result. It really is amazing sometimes how many things need to be in line in order for certain plays to be successful. Overall, we all know we saw another ‘coming-out party’ from Luck this past Sunday. He was efficient, consistent, precise, smart, strong and patient at his highest of levels for a long stretch in this one and it was glorious. Thursday’s matchup with the Patriots would be a great time for Luck and Reich to be in sync, and on another level as the injury situation isn’t all that promising, and Gillette stadium is not an easy place to pull off an upset. This could literally be Luck’s biggest regular-season win of his career in terms of what it could do for his confidence and the team’s as well. Maybe that’s hyperbole, but I don’t think so. His spin move was the thing of legend. Like a tornado it was both beautiful and terrible, consuming everything in its path. What’s more, it was so, so fast. That was the greatness of Dwight..."His spin move was the thing of legend. Like a tornado it was both beautiful and terrible, consuming everything in its path. What’s more, it was so Indianapolis Colts Eric Ebron Jersey , so fast. That was the greatness of Dwight Freeney. The 11th pick in the 2002 draft, the phenom out of Syracuse ran a blazing 4.48 40-yard-dash at the combine, and when you watched him play, he looked every bit that fast. 17 years later, Freeney will be the next Indianapolis Colt to be inducted into the Colts Ring of Honor. From 2002-2012, Freeney terrorized quarterbacks on behalf of the Indianapolis Colts, and delighted Colts fans as a part of a tandem paired with Robert Mathis. Peyton Manning and the Colts’ prolific offense would jump out to a lead and then unleash hell on the opposing offensive line in the form of Freeney and Mathis.During his time with the Colts, Freeney averaged 9.8 sacks per season and 3.9 forced fumbles. His presence changed offensive game plans and helped make Tony Dungy’s Tampa 2 defense as effective as it was. Freeney was voted three times to the First-Team All-Pro team and selected to seven Pro Bowls. He was also an integral part of the defense on the Colts team that won Super Bowl XLI and appeared in two others, one for the Colts and one as a part of the Atlanta Falcons. In total, he played in 218 career games including time with the Chargers, Cardinals, Falcons, Seahawks, and Lions. He was one of the best parts of the All or Nothing inaugural season with the Arizona Cardinals, adding leadership and a fun personality to the team and the show by extension. Those of us who were fortunate enough to see him play won’t soon forget the impact he had on the game, on the Colts franchise, and on fans. Congratulations Dwight!
