There's a perception by some people that federal court

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Redoing last weekend's controversial NFC title game between the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints would mean a pricey delay of the upcoming Super Bowl Womens Tre'Quan Smith Jersey , the NFL said Friday. In a legal filing, NFL Chief Financial Officer Joseph Siclare said replaying even a few minutes of the NFC championship game because of a missed passed interference call would force a delay for an event that demands an investment of "more than $100 million," the New Orleans Advocate reported .Siclare's sworn affidavit was submitted by the NFL to get one of two pending lawsuits over officiating moved from state civil court to New Orleans federal court. The filing marks the league's first formal response to a lawsuit by a pair of ticket-holders over the infamous "no call" that ended the Saints' Super Bowl run last Sunday. The league cited a federal law that allows a defendant to automatically remove a state class-action lawsuit to federal court when the parties are from different states and the amount of the damages sought by the plaintiffs exceeds $5 million.According to Siclare, a demand by the plaintiffs for the league to issue full refunds to 72,475 ticket holders well exceeds that benchmark on its own, as the average ticket price for the game hovered around $230. That adds up to more than $16 million in ticket proceeds. But the far bigger cost, Siclare suggested, would be if the Feb. 3 Super Bowl is delayed by a court in order to rewind the clock and replay all or a portion of the NFC title game— a result urged by the plaintiffs and much of "Who Dat Nation," which is also listed as a plaintiff."The Super Bowl Marshon Lattimore Saint Jersey , the NFL's premiere event, is a carefully planned and enormously expensive undertaking, with preparations carefully sequenced," from logistics to producing a "full-blown music concert at halftime," Siclare wrote. While the NFL has remained publicly silent about the controversial no-call, the league said Friday it had fined Rams defensive back Nickell Robey-Coleman $26,739 for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis — a second infraction that went unflagged on the same play.Saints head coach Sean Payton has said a league official admitted to him immediately after the game that both penalties should have been called on the play.Meanwhile, a hearing sought by the two plaintiffs in the lawsuit, Tommy Badeux and Candis Lambert Womens Michael Thomas Jersey , that was scheduled for Monday was declared moot by Friday's filing. It's no surprise that the NFL would seek to take the case out of the hands of a local New Orleans judge in favor of a federal jurist, said local attorney Glenn McGovern."There's a perception by some people that federal court is fairer than state court," McGovern said. "All big corporations feel more comfortable in federal court than state court." When tight end Hunter Henry went down before the season, it seemed like another typical Los Angeles Chargers season: high expectations met by a series of unlucky injuries sidelining key players. After jumping out to a 1-2 record, that storyline was all too familiar. But then the narrative changed as if George R. R. Martin was penning it in real time. The Bolts are in the midst of winning 10-of-11, clinching their first playoff appearance since 2013 after a nearly miraculous comeback against the AFC leading Kansas City Chiefs, and the all-too-familiar story is now a tale yet to be written.Behind the play of Philip Rivers, who has thrust himself into MVP consideration after compiling what will surely be his sixth-straight 4,000 yard season and a career high in touchdown passes (currently has 31 Womens Drew Brees Jersey , three behind his 34 tally in 2008), the Chargers are surging up the standings.Despite the slow start to the season, the Bolts are now tied atop the division– and for the first-round bye, home field advantage. Why stop there?Colin Cowherd certainly doesn’t think they will.On <em>The Herd</em> Wednesday, Cowherd said he expects Los Angeles to surpass the Chiefs as the No. 1 seed in the AFC, eventually facing off with their divisional foe in the conference championship game. With the StubHub Center on their side, Cowherd has the Chargers carrying their current past another MVP candidate Patrick Mahomes for a shot at taking on the New Orleans Saints in Atlanta with the Lombardi Trophy on the line. While a possibility at claiming the franchise’s first Super Bowl victory is very much in the realm of possibilities, the Chargers need to first take care of business at hand. The Bolts host the desperate Baltimore Ravens Saturday at 5:20p. on NFL Network.

What is it about the NFC East and offensive linemen? Washington has had more than its share of offensive line injuries the past three weeks. (The Cowboys also don’t have center Travis Frederick, who is on injured reserve while battling Guillain Barre Syndrome.)Cowboys starting right guard Zack Martin limped off under his own power after the team’s seventh play from scrimmage, having injured his left knee. He since was examined in the team’s medical tent on the sideline before leaving for further evaluation in the locker room. The Pro Bowler was rolled from behind by Eagles defensive lineman Chris Long, who was blocked to the ground by right tackle La'el Collins on a 2-yard scramble by Dak Prescott.Martin stayed on the ground, writhing in pain. He was limited in practice two days last week with an injury to the same knee. Martin was wearing a brace to protect his injury dating to the preseason.Adam Redmond replaced Martin. Xavier Su'a-Filo started in place of Williams.UPDATE 9:09 P.M. ET: Martin had his left knee taped and returned to the field in the second quarter. They used the first of those sixth-rounders to select Texas A&M safety Donovan Wilson with the 213th overall pick. We were all expecting the Cowboys to draft a safety, however we had no idea it wouldn’t be until the sixth round. Of course, the last time they took a safety this late (Xavier Woods) it turned out pretty good.Wilson has good size at 6’0” and 199 pounds. He’s got a solid frame with 33.5 in. arms. He’s a tough guy who welcomes contact. He does a good job attacking up the field to defend the run or chase down screens. Wilson is a physical player who will square up and finish his tackles. He fires downhill and will lay the smackdown on ball carriers. The Aggies safety has the football smarts to pick up on things quickly. His ball skills are decent and he has experience playing the nickel corner position. He’s got good short area quickness to play the slot or cover tight ends. He can diagnose routes quickly and he tracks the ball well. His ball production is modest as he has eight career interceptions. He’s touted as a good locker room guy that is a natural leader, but also brings with him a nastiness. Wilson is a little out of control at times as he needs to play more controlled. He’s an aggressive player Womens Taco Charlton Jersey , but there were several times where he got flagged for targeting. His pursuit angles are lacking and he’s not a fluid mover. Changing directions will be a problem and he lacks the burst to close on throws. He also doesn’t have the long speed to be the last line of defense. While he has some liabilities in coverage, he offers up some good attributes that will help him play down low. It’s going to be tough for him to earn snaps on defense, but he should have an opportunity to contribute on special teams. The Cowboys need safety help not only at the top of the depth chart, but down the line. Jeff Heath, Kavon Frazier Taco Charlton Jersey , and recently acquired George Iloka will all be unrestricted free agents next season. Wilson will have a shot to add some depth to this position group for the future.

For so very long Malik Hooker Jersey , the AFC South easily ranked among the NFL's worst divisions. Not anymore. Both Jacksonville and Tennessee are coming off playoff berths, with the Jaguars a blown lead in the AFC championship game from playing in the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history. The Jaguars and Titans also have their rosters from those trips back largely intact. Deshaun Watson and J.J. Watt are healthy again in Houston. Even Andrew Luck is throwing passes and ready for the season in Indianapolis."It's crazy how nobody wanted to play in the AFC South a couple years ago," Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith said. "Now it seems like it'll be one of the premier (divisions) in the league."The Jaguars not only are defending division champs, they are looking for a second straight playoff berth for the first time since 1998-99. The Titans changed coache s after consecutive 9-7 seasons because sweeping Jacksonville last season wasn't enough to win the AFC South, and another postseason would be their first back-to-back berths since 2007-08. If the Texans stay healthy, they are chasing their third division title in four years. The Colts have a lot of rebuilding ahead, but a healthy Luck is so good that Indianapolis always has a chance. Here's what to look for out of the AFC South this season:SURGING JACKSONVILLEYes, the Jaguars not only are contenders, they are a popular pick to reach their first Super Bowl. That means dealing with high expectations from the start."That's a big jump, but I feel like we're going to put ourselves in the right position to be an immediate contender Darius Leonard Jersey White ," defensive tackle Malik Jackson said. "I think with the defensive product that we put out there, the offensive product we put out there, and special teams, if we do anything less than what we did (last) year, it'd be a huge disappointment. I know we're going to be consistent. I can promise you that."All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey is keeping Jacksonville lively with his comments — positive and disparaging — on NFL quarterbacks. But Jaguars coach Doug Marrone has every key starter back, including 10 of 11 on one of the league's stingiest defenses featuring six Pro Bowlers. Blake Bortles' right wrist has been surgically repaired , and he has an offense that led the NFL in rushing last season.CONFIDENT TITANSTennessee has a first-time head coach who won three Super Bowl rings playing linebacker in New England, Mike Vrabel . This franchise also has been busy building the past three years trying to compete not only in the division but the AFC. The Titans gave themselves a big confidence boost by rallying for a wild-card win in Kansas City before a divisional loss in New England . It was an eye opener."To be able to experience that was huge," quarterback Marcus Mariota said. "You understand that the postseason, everything kind of intensifies just a little bit more Peyton Manning Jersey , and to go through that, to experience that in year three was huge. I do believe that it was a good stepping stone for this season, hopefully for future years as well."The Titans have new coordinator Matt LaFleur teaching Mariota his third offense in four seasons, and they replaced aging DeMarco Murray by signing Dion Lewis to work with Derrick Henry. They also bolstered the defense by signing cornerback Malcolm Butler and drafting linebackers Rashaan Evans and Harold Landry.HEALTHY TEXANSThis season has to be better for Houston if only because the Texans are healthier. When they finished their first losing season since 2013 at 4-12 last year, 22 Texans were on injured reserve. Losses of Watson , Watt and LB Whitney Mercilus were most costly. So even with the Texans' run at a third straight division title over, coach Bill O'Brien got a new general manager and a contract extension .Watson was so thrilling while healthy. Yet the second-year quarterback will be tested if an offensive line anchored by center Nick Martin and featuring three new starters can't protect Watson any better than a year ago, when the Texans gave up the second-most sacks in the NFL.As dominant as Watt was in winning the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award three times in four seasons, he now has to prove his body can survive a full season. Watt played only eight games combined over 2016 and 2017.COLTSFinally improving the offensive line has been a big key for general manager Chris Ballard in trying to end a three-year postseason drought. The Colts gave up a league-worst 56 sacks last season, and Luck won't stay healthy for long if they can't protect him better. Ballard drafted guard Quenton Nelson at No. 6 overall Darius Leonard Jersey , signed two free agents, and has center Ryan Kelly coming back off an injury.Owner Jim Irsay also fired Chuck Pagano and hired Frank Reich when Josh McDaniels decided to stay in New England . Reich now has watched Luck return to the field; Luck is feeling much more confident in his own throwing shoulder."I feel like I can make all the throws I need to make with confidence," Luck said.Safety Malik Hooker is back from knee surgery that ended his rookie season after just seven games. But not even Luck might be able to cover up the roster issues that Ballard needs more time, draft picks and money to fix.PREDICTED ORDER OF FINISH: Jaguars, Titans, Texans, Colts.AP Sports Writers Mark Long and Michael Marot contributed to this report.Follow Teresa M. Walker at teresamwalker Colts General Manager Chris Ballard has been drenched in praise for the job he did putting together a Colts team that went from 4-12 in 2017 to 10-6 with a playoff win in 2018, but he made it clear on Monday that his job isn’t anywhere close to done.Ballard heads into an offseason with a strong core of players, lots of cap room and a healthy package of draft picks to use toward making what he calls the “hard step” from being a good team to a great team. Ballard said he absolutely believes Indianapolis has become “an attractive place” for players, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to blow the doors down when free agency opens in March.“When it gets out of reach Malik Hooker Jersey White , I just think we are comfortable enough to sleep at night saying we are going to find [another] answer,” Ballard said, via the . “Sometimes it might be the household name that everybody wants us to sign, and that’s OK. I get it. But we are going to find an answer. Whether it’s in the first window of free agency, or maybe it’s in the second window, maybe it’s the draft, maybe it’s after the draft, maybe it’s at the cut-down day. There’s times to acquire players at all points in the season.”Ballard’s track record provides confidence that he’ll find the right answers to the questions that face the Colts as they try to turn this year’s success into the foundation for a long run.

For the first time in 635 days https://www.brownslockerroom.com/authentic-jim-brown-jersey , the Cleveland Browns won.Baker Mayfield showed them how.The No. 1 overall pick replaced injured starter Tyrod Taylor and sparked the Browns, who got two 1-yard touchdown runs from Carlos Hyde and beat the New York Jets 21-17 on Thursday night for their first win since Dec. 24, 2016."I've just been waiting for my moment," Mayfield said. "I'm just getting started."And so ends Cleveland's 19-game winless streak, the NFL's second-longest since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. The Browns (1-1-1) trailed 14-0 in the first half before Mayfield came in for Taylor and led four scoring drives while winning an unexpected matchup against Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold. Cleveland passed on taking Darnold in the draft and instead chose Mayfield, the Heisman Trophy winner from Oklahoma.Mayfield finished 17 of 23 for 201 yards in a little more than a half after coming in after Taylor suffered a concussion.Darnold had one last chance, but was intercepted by Terrence Mitchell with 11 seconds left. When the final seconds ticked off the clock, Cleveland fans, who had endured a 0-16 season and waited nearly two years to see their Browns win David Njoku Jersey , erupted in celebration.Refrigerators around the city stocked with Bud Lights were finally unlocked, and there figured to be more than a few beverages consumed in the hours ahead. This was just one win, and while it was an ending, it also felt like a beginning 鈥?because of Mayfield."Dilly, dilly to the Cleveland fans," Mayfield said, using the beer's commercial slogan. "It's not the only win we're going to celebrate."Isaiah Crowell had two touchdown runs for the Jets (1-2), who seemed in control when they took a 14-0 lead and knocked Taylor from the game.Newly signed Browns kicker Greg Joseph made field goals of 45 and 27 yards after being signed just three days ago.Browns coach Hue Jackson got just his second win in 35 games since being hired by owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam, and this win will ease some of the pressure he's been feeling to get Cleveland turned around. Jackson could also be faced with a difficult choice 鈥?either stick with Mayfield or go back to Taylor when he's healthy. The decision might not be as tough now.Jackson wouldn't commit to staying with Mayfield Myles Garrett Jersey White , but referred to the performance as "his coming out party" several times.Mayfield made his NFL debut with 1:42 left in the second quarter, replacing an injured Taylor after Cleveland's starter was sacked for the third time. Taylor struggled getting to his feet after being dragged down by linebacker Avery Williamson, but he had absorbed several hard blows before that 鈥?and had been ineffective. With Cleveland's crowd roaring, Mayfield completed a 14-yard pass to Jarvis Landry on his first pass as a pro and then found tight end David Njoku for 17 yards. Mayfield drove Cleveland into field-goal position and Joseph, who signed with the team on Monday following a tryout, drilled a low line drive to pull the Browns within 14-3.Cleveland's plan was to have Mayfield watch and learn this season.Taylor's injury may change everything. For Darnold, a promising start ended with his second loss in three games. He completed 15 of 31 passes for 169 yards, but threw two picks late in the fourth as he tried to rally the Jets."I feel like I've got to play better and make better reads," Darnold said. "I need to be more decisive. We've got to make them pay and put the ball in our playmakers' hands."Hyde's 1-yard TD run pulled the Browns within 14-12 and Cleveland tied it with a trick 2-point play .Mayfield shifted to the left and the ball was snapped directly to running back Duke Johnson Womens Denzel Ward Jersey , who ran right and gave the ball to Landry on a reverse. Landry then lofted a pass into the end zone to Mayfield, whose conversion tied it and sent Cleveland fans into a frenzy.Crowell scored his second TD with 7:54 left in the second quarter, and was flagged for excessive celebrating when he squatted and wiped the ball on his backside before flinging it into the crowd.Crowell's untouched 7-yard run TD run came five plays after Jets linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis got a hand on Britton Colquitt's attempted punt and New York took over at Cleveland's 28.On the first play of the second quarter, Crowell took an inside handoff and raced into the end zone before firing the ball into the stands in celebration. Crowell spent four seasons with the Browns before signing a three-year, $12 million free agent contract with New York as a free agent in March.OH, BABYHyde arrived late for pregame warmups because his wife was giving birth. Jackson said as of late Thursday night the child had not yet been delivered.LONG AUDITIONJoseph stayed on the field and kicked by himself during the opening coin toss, and each of his makes drew a rousing ovation from Cleveland fans. Just a few days ago, Joseph was relaxing in South Florida with friends while Gonzalez missed four kicks in New Orleans and then got booted by the Browns.RADIO SILENCEThe Browns suspended radio reporter Nathan Zegura eight games for his conduct on the sideline during last Sunday's loss at New Orleans. BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Browns rookie Denzel Ward remains in concussion protocol after getting hurt in Sunday’s loss at Houston.Ward got injured in the first half and did not return in Cleveland’s 29-13 loss to the Texans, who won their ninth straight game.Interim coach Gregg Williams said Ward was initially checked for a neck “stinger” before he was evaluated for a head injury. The No. 4 overall pick in this year’s draft, Ward has three interceptions this season.Williams has been critical of Ward’s tackling in the past and said the former Ohio State star needed to be lower before he took contact.Williams said defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi is still being evaluated for a biceps injury. Ogunjobi also got hurt in the first half and kept playing before sitting out the second half. It’s too early to say if either Ward or Ogunjobi will be available Sunday when the Browns (4-7-1) host Carolina.

What I found interesting was the decision to

That 20-7 score of the San Francisco 49ers win over the Los Angeles Rams is not very indicative of just how bad that was for the Rams. The 49ers manhandled them in what was awesome for Niner fans and devastating for Rams fans. In the first few minutes Jerick McKinnon Jersey , though, there was a bit of a scare. The Rams didn’t bother passing and went straight to running. And it worked. When you look at how efficiently they ran it on that one series (you know, the only one they scored on all game), it would be fair to think this was going to be ugly and that Robert Saleh needed to think of something quick. Hey, Kyle Shanahan had to be breathing down his neck, right? Not exactly. Saleh came out for the postgame and was asked about the run and described what Shanahan said after the Rams effortlessly punched it in (without Todd Gurley’s help):Translation: “He stayed the hell out of our way.”Shanahan runs the offensive side of the ball, but he’s also the head coach. I wouldn’t be surprised if he knows a lot more defensive scheming than he lets on, but the fact he steps back and lets Saleh do his thing says a lot. After all Womens Laken Tomlinson Jersey , the whole reason I brought this up was because Shanahan was the victim of a coach stepping on his toes once. You’d have to think that played into the way he coaches now. The below tweet was from when he was offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns under Mike Pettine.Ok, I really just wanted an excuse to show that priceless look Shanahan has after Pettine tells him, “I say we run it.” Having known a thing or two about people pulling rank and/or throwing their weight around when they should stay in their lane probably explains why Shanahan let Saleh do his thing. That look, man. The San Francisco 49ers PR department released their unofficial Week 8 depth chart on Tuesday afternoon. A Tuesday release meant Adrian Colbert to IR and the signing of Tom Savage are reflected in the depth chart. This is entirely unofficial, but it does give us one notable talking point. D.J. Reed is now listed as the starting free safety, as one would expect with Colbert’s injury. What I found interesting was the decision to move him from No. 1 kick returner to No. 2 kick returner. Rookie Richie James has replaced him in the No. 1 spot.Such a change on an unofficial depth chart could mean nothing, but given that Reed is getting first crack at the starting free safety job, it would make sense that the coaching staff would prefer to keep him out of a high impact special teams position like kick returner.Injuries can happen in a variety of ways Earl Mitchell Jersey White , but with James active fairly regularly now and Reed potentially moving into the starting lineup, it would not surprise me to see James returning kicks this Sunday against the Cardinals. One transaction of note that does not appear on the depth chart. The 49ers signed wide receiver Aaron Burbridge to their practice squad on Tuesday. The team placed him on injured reserve at the end of training camp this year, and then waived him with an injury settlement. His return could mean a couple things. The first is the banged-up wide receiver corps. The 49ers are dealing with a host of injuries there and could use bodies. The second, and more likely reason, is Tarvarius Moore potentially getting more cornerback snaps. As Matt Barrows noted, Moore is one of their gunners on special teams, and Burbridge has significant experience in that role. If Moore plays more cornerback in the coming weeks, the team might use him less on special teams. If that’s the case Womens Jaquiski Tartt Jersey , Burbridge can slot right into the role.49ers offensive depth chart vs. Cardinals, Week 8PositionFirstSecondThirdPositionFirstSecondThird49ers defensive depth chart vs. Cardinals, Week 8PositionFirstSecondThirdPositionFirstSecondThird49ers special teams depth chart vs. Cardinals, Week 8PositionFirstSecondThirdPositionFirstSecondThird

In a nutshell, what can the Saints and their fans expect out of Brown in the middle of the defensive line? For the first time in his career, Brown failed to register a sack in 2018. What do you think was the culprit here? Was it lack of effort, lack of ability, bad luck, or something else? The Patriots defense had its ups and downs last year. If Brown were the only player to leave the defense and no new pieces were added, would it be better or worse in 2019?Last year, were there any locker room concerns as far as Brown is concerned?Brown signed a 3-year, $15 million dollar deal to come to New Orleans. Was this an overpay Marcus Davenport Jersey White , did they get a bargain, or was it just right?Thank-you, for taking the time to talk with us! Saints fans, make sure you check out their work over at Pats Pulpit. You can follow them on Twitter at @PatsPulpit and Rich @PP_Rich_Hill. Of course, as always, you can follow me on Twitter @dunnellz. LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Calais Campbell watched the NFL’s conference championship games on his phone while flying home from South Africa last weekend. The stream cut in and out occasionally, causing Campbell to think for a brief moment that he missed something when no flag was thrown on Los Angeles Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman late in the NFC title game. Turns out, Campbell saw it perfectly clear and was stunned officials chose not to penalize Robey-Coleman for flattening Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis before the ball arrived.“Very, very surprised,” Campbell said. The now-infamous no-call has been the talk of Pro Bowl week Womens Marcus Davenport Jersey , with several players calling for better officiating and more accountability for those in black and white. Others suggest expanding the use of video replay.“You just make a better call,” Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins said. “I know there’s been talk about replay. But you really didn’t need replay to make that call. It was just a missed call. It was that simple. That happens. You have human error, but it’s unfortunate when that changes everything that you’ve worked for as a team and how hard it’s been to get back to that spot. That’s tough.”No one at the league’s annual all-star game went as far as retiring New Orleans Saints tight end Benjamin Watson did, though. Watson ripped NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Thursday for his public silence following the blown call.Watson posted a letter to Goodell on Twitter, saying “we all realize that football is an imperfect game, played, coached and officiated by imperfect people. What occurred last Sunday in New Orleans, though, was outside of that expected and accepted norm.”“Your continued silence on this matter is unbecoming of the position you hold, detrimental to the integrity of the game and disrespectful and dismissive to football fans everywhere,” Watson continued. “From the locker room to Park Ave. Marshon Lattimore Jersey White , accountability is what makes our league great. Lead by example. We are waiting.”Officials could have — and by most accounts should have — flagged Robey-Coleman for pass interference and helmet-to-helmet contact during the play. Drew Brees‘ pass fell incomplete inside the Rams 10-yard line with 1:45 left in a tie game. The Saints settled for a field goal. The Rams tied the game on Greg Zuerlein’s 48-yarder in regulation and won it in overtime with his 57-yarder.“How many times have you played a football game and seen the call that should have been called but didn’t, or a call that got called and it shouldn’t have been called?” Campbell said. “It happens all the time in this game. It’s just part of football. You get upset for a second, but then you go keep playing ball. The Saints did have a chance. They had the ball in overtime, had a chance to go out there and win it. This game, it’s tough.”But the overwhelming sentiment at the Pro Bowl was something needs to be done to prevent errors as egregious as the one in the NFC title game.“The tough thing is we have things that are reviewable, things that aren’t reviewable,” Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Kyle Williams said. “You can’t review it inside of two minutes. I don’t know why we put limitations on things, but at the same time, games have missed calls one way or another. But you hated to see something that appeared to be that way finish a game like that, finish a season. For us as a league, it’s hard to limit when you can and when you can’t review those things and do all that.”Added Dallas Cowboys linebacker Leighton Vander Esch: “If dudes are missing calls on the field https://www.thesaintslockerroom.com/authentic-drew-brees-jersey , they’ve got to make them up in the box.”Several others echoed Vander Esch’s argument, which essentially was: What’s the point of having extra officials upstairs and more watching at the league office in New York if no one can step in and correct an obvious mistake?“Honestly, full speed, I was like, ‘He kind of got there early, but it was bang-bang,'” New York Giants safety/special teams ace Mike Thomas said. “You slow it down, clearly he got there early. I was like, ‘Ohhh.’ It looked way worse when you slowed it down.“We’ve been calling for — players, coaches, fans — for replays for pass interference calls anyway. There’s a bunch of times they throw it on DBs and we feel like we’re in great position. I think you just make all those major calls like that reviewable and just got from there.”Not everyone was so eager to broaden use of replay.Campbell Womens Marshon Lattimore Jersey , for one, urged fans and colleagues to slow down. He believes more replay would only muck up the tempo of games and make them longer.“You cannot open up a can of worms,” said Campbell, an 11-year veteran and a team player rep. “But what you can do is you can try to prepare the referees better because they can’t miss that call. In those clutch situations, in that moment, he has to make that call. And whatever the consequences are for him missing the call, maybe make those public so we all know and everybody feels better. Make them be held accountable and they will have the motivation to call it the right way.”

For all the offseason talk about safety with the Dallas Cowboys Womens Taco Charlton Jersey , they ended up spending more resources from the draft on potential backups for two-time NFL rushing champion Ezekiel Elliott.Dallas used two picks on running backs, starting with all-purpose back Tony Pollard of Memphis in the fourth round Saturday. Then the Cowboys went back to Elliott’s alma mater, Ohio State, for a more traditional runner in Mike Weber with one of two seventh-round choices.Elliott was the fourth overall pick in 2016, won his first rushing title as a rookie for the NFC East champions, and did it again with another division winner last season. The Cowboys said running back was a priority after deciding not to bring back seldom-used backup Rod Smith. But it didn’t figure to rank ahead of safety since Dallas was never a serious bidder for free agent Earl Thomas, who made no secret of his desire to join the Cowboys but ended up in Baltimore instead.Owner and general manager Jerry Jones suggested that was the plan all along. Dallas took safety Donovan Wilson of Texas in the sixth round as five of the club’s eight picks were defensive choices. Cornerback Michael Jackson, taken in the fifth round Taco Charlton Jersey , could have the flexibility to be in the mix at safety as well.“I knew it was very possible that we could get out of here without picking a safety,” Jones said. “We need to, from a standpoint of efficiency within a game as well as from managing our overall future, we need some good running back skill behind Zeke. That was a goal coming into this draft was let’s let us wisely use Zeke now and in the future. So those two address that perfectly.”Pollard also has potential as a return man after tying the FBS career record with seven kickoff returns for touchdowns. He had 552 yards rushing with six touchdowns and 458 yards receiving with three more scores as a junior at Memphis.“I think this guy can be a lot different than just a space player,” executive vice president of personnel Stephen Jones said. “He can do a lot of things. What excites me the most is just his home run threat as a running back.”Weber had his only 1,000-yard season at Ohio State as a redshirt freshman the year after Elliott left, rushing for 1,096 yards and nine scores. A hamstring injury limited him as a sophomore and he had 954 yards last season.WHO THEY GOTThe Cowboys followed the “best available” model with their first two picks in Central Florida defensive tackle Trysten Hill (58th overall Womens Demarcus Lawrence Jersey , second round) and offensive lineman Connor McGovern from Penn State (90th, third). Dallas hadn’t drafted an interior defensive lineman that high since No. 1 overall choice Russell Maryland in 1991. And coach Jason Garrett said McGovern was “by far” the best player on Dallas’ board when he was selected.SURPRISE MOVEIt’s been 10 years since the Cowboys didn’t have a first-round pick, and that 2009 draft was a poor one for Dallas. Jones said the lesson from a decade earlier was to stick with the picks you have rather than trade back (the first pick in 2009 ended up being a third-rounder).While Dallas followed that plan by making its first three picks — in the second, third and fourth rounds — the focus turned to stockpiling later when players the Cowboys wanted were drafted ahead of their slot. They traded back twice and ended up with five picks in the final three rounds.HOW THEY DIDThe Cowboys made a practical choice with Hill since 2016 third-round pick Maliek Collins is going into the final year of his rookie contract. Defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli considers their spot on the interior of the line the most important position on his defense, and wants to pressure the quarterback from there. While Dallas has invested in that spot for Marinelli, it was usually later for a coach who believes he can turn any pick, and any undrafted free agent, into a productive inside player. Collins has been a solid three-year starter Leighton Vander Esch Jersey White , but he hasn’t been a force and has battled injuries. The Cowboys don’t want to rule out Hill becoming a starter.WHAT’S NEXT?The availability of Randy Gregory will go a long way toward determining the fate of late-round pass rushing picks Joe Jackson (fifth, Miami) and Jalen Jelks (seventh, Oregon). If Gregory is reinstated from an indefinite suspension, his fourth substance-abuse ban, it might be difficult for Jackson or Jelks to make the active roster. The Cowboys are optimistic Gregory will be allowed to return. Several years after losing the completely meaningless end-of-season football game to the mainland, Hawaii is getting a slightly more meaningful preseason football game. And someone has gobbled up all the tickets.Apparently, it was someone(s) looking to re-sell the tickets at a significant profit to the locals.According to KITV.com, the Cowboys-Rams game to be played on August 17 at Aloha Stadium sold out in less than a day. Already Dak Prescott Jersey White , tickets with a face value starting at $30 have appeared on the secondary market with prices “in the thousands.” “Who takes all the tickets? Can some of us locals get some tickets or something? How can they be taken up so fast?” Hawaii resident Sai Uluave told KITV.com.As of this posting, TicketMaster.com had seats available starting at $146 and ending upwards of $3,500.Yes, the world has changed dramatically from the days when scalping tickets was both illegal and shady. But it looks like the shadiness lingers, in the form of the technological devices available to those who purchase the tickets at retail and jack them up to something way more than that.

He's competing with Jamil Douglas and rookie Nate Davis, a third-round draft pick out of Charlotte, for the starting job."This has been crazy to where almost everybody has rotated in different spots," Pamphile said. "But it's exciting to see everyone accept that challenge."Jack Conklin is back and healthy to reclaim his job at right tackle after finishing last season on injured reserve. Center Ben Jones, who rotated a bit with Corey Levin during training camp, anchors the middle with free agent signee Rodger Saffold at left guard. Three-time Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan will miss the first four games with a suspension for using performance-enhancing drugs with veteran Dennis Kelly set to fill in for him. That leaves right guard the last remaining spot to be decided Womens Peyton Manning Jersey , a competition the Titans are content to let play out for at least another week."I've liked it, and I think that they all are competing," coach Mike Vrabel said. "We're just trying to figure out the best lineup. We'll probably let it go another week and try to figure out something here as we wrap up the Pittsburgh week."Coaches mixed up the rotations more during training camp, which ended last week with the second joint practice with New England. Pamphile sees the rotation as something that will pay off during the season no matter who earns the starting job at right guard."Honestly, it's when you walk in the building and the coach is like, 'Hey I need you at this position Womens Malik Hooker Jersey ,'" Pamphile said. "Like, 'Oh, OK." You have to be prepared for any situation. In the game, anything can happen and a guy can go down, and I got to go in. That's the scenario you have to have. I think as an o-line we accepted that, and we can thrive on that."Pamphile played mostly at left guard with Tampa Bay before signing last year with Tennessee Andrew Luck Jersey White , and he started at both left tackle and right tackle because of injuries and illnesses.Douglas is hoping his versatility and ability to play any of the three inside spots on the line help him. Miami drafted him in the fourth round of the 2015 draft out of Arizona State, and he started six games as a rookie at center and right guard. He has been with the Patriots, Falcons and Colts before signing onto the Titans' practice squad five weeks into last season."It's kind of been how my career has went," Douglas said. "When I came into the league, they first told me I was going to have to be versatile. It's been something I've been working on. I don't think it's a hard thing. You just have to learn to flip your mind, flip your body and go from there."Davis has not practiced since Aug. 1 with an undisclosed injury.Douglas practiced three straight days with the first-time offense at right guard last week before Pamphile took over for joint practices against New England. However, some are speculating that the hefty contract, which pays him $88 million over 4 years with $50 million guaranteed, is a little exaggerated. In this article, I’ll break down my opinion on Foles as a player, comparison to Bortles, his contract and what it all means for the Colts.Pre-Eagles Foles:Foles was drafted 88th overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2012 Draft after he played three years at Arizona and one at Michigan State. His first year in the league consisted mostly of backing up Michael Vick. 2013 started much the same until Vick got injured and Foles was thrust into the starting role. He vastly over-performed that season, accumulating a stat line of 64.0%-2,891-27-2 Andrew Luck Jersey , which was(and still is) an NFL record TD to interception ratio. His season ended on a high note as he was the Eagles new unquestioned starter and made his first and only Pro-Bowl appearance. However, 2014 was much worse as Chip Kelly tried to implement a revolutionary up-tempo offensive scheme. This, along with the release of Foles' number one receiver, DeSean Jackson, created the perfect storm for Foles to struggle. In the 8 games he was healthy, Foles had accumulated a stat line of 59.8-2163-13-10. Mediocre, to say the least. For the next couple of years, Foles bounced around the league, sometimes heavily considering retirement. He eventually found his way to the Kansas City Chiefs where he linked up with former coach Andy Reid. Following that season, Reid vouched for Foles, who signed a 2-year deal with Reid disciple Doug Pederson. Eagles Era Foles:After a devastating injury to MVP hopeful Carson Wentz, Foles found himself back on the field, and playing at a high level. Thanks to Wentz’s Herculean effort during most of the regular season the Eagles were sitting atop the NFC. Many expected a first round exit, though, as they were underdogs for every single game in the 2017 playoffs. And rightfully so.Before the beginning of the playoffs, Foles was playing respectably for a backup, averaging a QB rating of 66.025 in every game he started, which was inflated by a 115.8 QB rating against the lowly Giants. Nonetheless, Pederson and his staff had found a playcalling style that Foles was exceptionally adept with: the RPO. That was very apparent in what will go down as one of the most legendary playoffs runs ever Womens Darius Leonard Jersey , with Foles averaging an astounding 115.825 QB rating over 4 games. The run ended with some hardware for Eagles players, a Super Bowl MVP for Foles and a Lombardi for the city of brotherly love. In 4 games, Foles had gone from an unknown journeyman backup to a starting quarterback on a Super Bowl team and an award-winning author. As the next season began, Wentz still wasn’t fully healthy, so Foles got the starting nod. However, the clamoring for Philly’s Savior to supplant Wentz as the long term starter was quickly quieted after Foles averaged just a 74.75 QB rating in the first two games of the season. Wentz came back in for most of the season and played at a decent level (102.2 QB rating). Then, the inevitable struck.Wentz suffered a back injury that was significant enough that the Eagles shut him down for the rest of the season as a precaution. Back came the city’s prodigal son. In this case, however, the tables seemed to have turned completely. The Eagles were no longer the sure-fire playoff contender who was fighting for a first-round bye, but instead, a team in the hunt who had 2 out of the 3 games left in the season against playoff teams. How did Foles respond?A 103.87 QB rating to go along with 3 wins and a much-needed loss by the Vikings to secure the 6th seed for the Eagles. After a last-second win in Chicago, everyone in the football world, at least for a second, at least considered the idea that God must be an Eagles fan. Every single thing was breaking their way until the Saints broke their hearts the next week (only to experience heartbreak of their own a few weeks later).Nick Foles, in the span of 11 games, earned himself a Super Bowl ring and a reputation as a player who steps up his game when the lights shine the brightest. This reputation is what earned him a monster contract which many Jaguars fans applauded as a franchise-saving move. 2 years removed from their AFC Championship loss, the return of Andrew Luck and Deshaun Watson, along with awful play from their quarterback, Blake Bortles Peyton Manning Jersey White , had returned the Jags to being the floormat of the division. However, with an elite defense still intact, Foles' signing seemed to be a showing that great times lay ahead. If we take a closer look at the numbers, though, it seems it’s possible that the Jaguars threw out the old to buy the exact same thing at an elevated price. *note that a lot of Foles' stats are mathematical predictions since he was a back-up for most of his career, so he never played a complete season. I also took out 2015 for Luck because the math got really ugly with predicted stats.Nick Foles is clearly safer with the football than Bortles, who is a turnover machine with a TD:INT ratio of 1.37 and a lower QB rating. I have included Andrew Luck in this comparison as well, due to his similar contract. Luck earns around $23.3 million a year (largest contract in NFL history at the time of signing), and Foles is estimated to earn around $22 million a year. Even if the Jaguars hypothetically tap into Foles’ RPO potential and he plays at playoff form for a full season, they are still not getting they money's worth.Foles also doesn’t have to carry his team in the way Luck has had to in the past. Foles will benefit from his team's premier defense. The Jaguars defense was tied for 3rd in the league in points allowed, with 19.8 per game. While it should be expected that Foles and Co. should score more that Bortles did, there is a legitimate concern about the lack of offensiveweapons that Foles will have at his disposal. When he succeeded in 2013 he had DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin. In 2017 it was Alshon Jeffrey and Zach Ertz. However, in Duval, he seems to have Dede Westbrook and little more. Leonard Fournette is a talented back, but his career average of 3.7 yards per carrying doesn’t live up to his Number 4 overall draft billing. That leads me to the next concern that the Jaguars should have, which is how the locker room will treat Foles. We’ve seen a rift created between the defense and the offense during the Bortles era, with Jalen Ramsey and Leonard Fournette jokingly calling him names like “Draco Malfoy” and saying he looks like “a substitute teacher”. We all know that there is a possibility that if Foles doesn’t produce, things could turn toxic. The Jaguars lockers locker room is no way comparable to the Eagles in terms of culture and respectability. Impact on the ColtsFinally, let's discuss how Foles' signing affects the Colts. The direct impact is that the Jaguars are in the same division as the Colts Womens Andrew Luck Jersey , thus we will have to play them twice a year and any improvement they make is harmful to the Colts. The more interesting point, though, is that the Jaguars have spent around $130 million dollars on 2 mediocre quarterbacks, making it harder for them to resign the plethora of young studs they have on the defensive side of the ball (Ngakoue, Ramsey, Bouye, Jack, etc.)Finally, Blake Bortles has actually been quite decent when playing against the Colts. Here are his stats over the last 3 years versus the Colts compared to his average game stats. It isn’t like Bortles was a check down king, as by my calculations, his average yards per attempt is 8.78. For comparison’s sake, last season's average was 7.43. The sample size is too small to calculate for Foles (his stat line in his one start versus the Colts was 72.7%-223-2-0, this was in 2016), but he probably won’t be as good as Bortles was against the Colts.Unless they meet in the playoffs.Overall, I think this is a terrible move for the Jaguars. They could have easily drafted up to get one of the 2 stud QBs in this class or gone for next years loaded one (like the Dolphins). However, they paid the 7th highest annual salary for an average to below-average quarterback who plays well in the playoffs. Bad move for Jaguars fans, a good move for Colts fans.

It’s something that I wanted as a kid, to play in the National Football League.”The field goal dealt the Browns (1-2-1) another tough loss as they blew a 14-point lead in the second half and then allowed to get the game-tying TD and 2-point conversion in the final seconds of regulation to spoil Baker Mayfield’s NFL starting debut .Mayfield, the No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett Jersey , threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns to put Cleveland on position to win but also committed four turnovers, losing two fumbles and throwing two interceptions, including one that Gareon Conley returned36 yards for a TD .The Browns were seeking their first back-to-back wins since November 2014 after snapping a 19-game winless streak by beating the Jets last week.“I’m tired of growing pains,” coach Hue Jackson said. “I think we can do those things better. Those things hadn’t reared their ugly head until now. We can do better. Baker can do better. Our offense can do better. Special teams can do better, defense can do better. So, we’ve got to play better.Carr threw for 437 yards, Marshawn Lynch ran for 130 yards for his most productive game in four years, and Amari Cooper (128 yards) and Jared Cook (110) each topped the 100-yard mark. The Browns broke out to a 28-14 lead midway through the third quarter only to fall behind 34-28 early in the fourth thanks in part to Mayfield losing two fumbles deep in his own territory to set up TD passes by Carr. But the Raiders squandered a fourth-quarter lead for the second straight week, falling behind 42-34 after Mayfield’s 59-yard pass to Antonio Callaway set up Carlos Hyde’s 1-yard run and rookie Nick Chubb ran 41 yards for his second long TD of the game.It looked as if that would decide the game when the Browns forced Carr into two incompletions from the 9 with under two minutes left to lead to a turnover on downs.Cleveland appeared to be in position to run out the clock when Hyde converted a first down Jim Brown Jersey White , but a replay review determined he was down just short of the marker and the Browns punted.“That was huge,” Hyde said. “That was a chance to put the game away right there. Definitely. That was a game-changer right there.”Carr then engineered a 53-yard touchdown drive capped by a 7-yard pass to Jared Cook with 30 seconds to play. The Raiders still needed the 2-point conversion to tie it and they got it when Jordy Nelson came down with a fade despite physical coverage by ex-Raider TJ Carrie.Carr has 14 fourth-quarter comebacks but just two sincehis breakthrough season in 2016 when he did it seven times.“It did feel like the old times,” he said. “The way we did that, it helps our team going forward to know what it takes.”CHUBB’S RUNSChubb had just three carries on the day, but the first went for a 63-yard score in the second quarter and the last went for 41 yards and another TD. He finished with three carries for 105 yards.GO FOR 2Jackson went for a 2-point conversion twice in the first half. Mayfield’s pass to Callaway was incomplete on the first attempt before Duke Johnson ran in the second try to make it 17-7.QUICK WHISTLEThe Raiders were upset by a quick whistle that possibly cost Lynch a long TD run. Lynch ran left and linebacker Joe Schobert tried to tackle him but Lynch appeared to spin out of it without going to the ground. He kept running for what could have been a 75-yard TD but the play was blown dead. The Browns were hurt by a quick whistle in the fourth quarter when Carr was ruled in the grasp, negating a fumble recovery that might have resulted in a TD.INJURIESBrowns S Terrance Mitchell left the game with a broken arm in the first half. …Raiders RT Donald Penn left in the second half with a leg injury and LF Kelechi Osemele also left with an undisclosed injury.UP NEXTBrowns: Host Baltimore on Sunday.Raiders: Visit Chargers on Sunday.

Battle of the Cheetahs — and Marquise Goodwin San Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida has been nicknamed Cheetah since his college days. He’s got serious speed (4.39 40 at his college Pro Day) Nick Bosa 49ers Jersey , and Cheetah rhymes with the pronunciation of his last name. It’s pretty simple.Enter Tyreek Hill. The Kansas City Chiefs burner wide receiver is nicknamed Cheetah, and in fact, his Twitter handle is simply @cheetah. He ran a 4.29 40 at his college Pro Day, and regularly shows up on the NFL highlight reels with his big plays — with the peace sign thrown in when he’s really burned a defensive back.Naturally, with the 49ers traveling to face the Chiefs this weekend http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-dante-pettis-jersey , Hill was asked about the 49ers Cheetah. Hill said there’s only one cheetah in the NFL, and “You can’t be a cheetah and run a 4.48, or whatever you run.” He did offer some praise for Breida.Breida might be asked about the comments, but he’s a pretty low key guy. I don’t expect much in the way of a response from the 49ers running back when it comes to smack talk.Fortunately, Marquise Goodwin was willing to offer up some smack talk about his own speed. Goodwin has competed in both track and field events http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-kwon-alexander-jersey , earning a spot in the Olympics as a long jumper. He’s viewed as the fastest guy on the team, and he had a perfect comment when asked to compare himself with Hill. The 49ers offense would love to have Goodwin back on the field for Sunday’s matchup. He is going to be listed as limited for Wednesday’s practice as he continues rehabbing a thigh bruise. He was a DNP all last week, so this is an upgrade.Given how prolific the Chiefs offense has been through two weeks, the 49ers will need every offensive weapon they can muster. We’ve seen Dante Pettis slowly emerging while Goodwin has been out. Add a deep threat like Goodwin back into the mix, and this offense could take an important step forward. 49ers players are flirting openly with Antonio Brown. One of the best players in franchise (and league) history has said that Brown wants to play for the 49ers.So what does 49ers’ management want? There’s a belief in league circles that the 49ers have real interest in Brown. With Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. apparently not available this year (he was kind of possibly maybe available in March 2018) Nick Bosa Jersey White , the 49ers will be inclined to explore whether they can get Brown. The contract remains a desirable one, at just under $39 million over the next three years, assuming Brown doesn’t want to go back to the trough after making $33 million over the past two years. And the 49ers seem to be desperate to load up the cannon and compete with the Rams and Seahawks. With a healthy Jimmy Garoppolo and Jerick McKinnon and an emerging star in George Kittle, the 49ers could become immediate contenders if they have Brown on board. Of course, he’d have to be fully and truly on board Laken Tomlinson Jersey , committed to avoiding whatever behaviors created problems for him in Pittsburgh, whether real, imagined, or some combination of the two.Of course, the 49ers may have competition for Brown’s services. The Steelers surely hope that’s the case http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-bradley-pinion-jersey , since holding an auction for Brown will be the best way for the Steelers to get the most for his contract.

The NFL hasn’t yet responded. A hearing is tentatively set for Monday — six days before the Rams meet the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl in Atlanta.“Why is the rule there if it’s not going to be implemented?” asked attorney Frank D’Amico, who filed the suit in state Civil District Court in New Orleans on behalf of Tommy Badeaux and Candis Lambert. No penalty was called after the Rams’ Nickell Robey-Coleman hit Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis while a pass was in the air with less than two minutes to go in regulation on Sunday. A flag would have meant a first down for the Saints, who could have run down the clock and won the game with a field goal. Instead, the Saints kicked a go-ahead field goal with 1:41 left. The Rams came back to tie with a field goal before winning in overtime. There appears to be no dispute that a penalty should have been called. Robey-Coleman later said he expected a flag. Saints coach Sean Payton said the NFL office acknowledged the error to him after the game. The question is whether an officiating mistake — even an egregious one — is the type of “club action Alvin Kamara Jersey White , non-participant interference, or calamity” that merits the remedy D’Amico’s clients seek.Mike Pereira is among the doubters.“I understand the frustration,” the former vice president of officiating for the NFL, now a Fox Sports analyst, said in an interview. Hingle-USA TODAY SportsNew Orleans Saints starting left tackle Terron Armstead was having a pretty stellar 2018 season. He looked incredible and nearly impenetrable through the first ten weeks of the year, but then disaster struck on the road game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Armstead exited the game due to a shoulder injury, which turned out to be a pectoral injury that was going to require a considerable time frame to heal. The Saints did a nice job of weathering the storm without Armstead for several games with veteran Jermon Bushrod, but things finally caught up to the offense during the Dallas game.Armstead returned to action in a pivotal late season showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 16. He toughed it out, but didn’t quite look himself and had to exit the game early, and then took the regular season finale off. The extra weeks of rest between Week 17 and the Divisional Round against the Eagles proved to be just what Armstead needed Marshon Lattimore Saint Jersey , as he had a good showing in both postseasonTerron Armstead - At a GlanceApproximate Value: 10 (Highest of career)Pro Football Focus Rank: 3rd out of 80Overall Grade: 87.4Pass Block Grade: 90.4 (436 snaps)Run Block Grade: 76.5 (306 snaps)Total Snaps: 742Despite missing a stretch of five straight games in the middle of the year, Armstead was a unanimous choice to represent the NFC in the Pro Bowl as their starting left tackle, getting the most fan votes at 346,860. The players and coaches also thought the same, and he was officially announced to the starting roster. Pro Football Focus named Armstead as their 47th best player in their Top 101 series, stating that he tied for the fourth-best pass-blocking efficiency in 2018. He was also named to the second All-Pro team. Here’s just a taste of what Armstead did in 2018, as he provided some key blocks in the passing game to help spring Alvin Kamara Womens Michael Thomas Jersey , and also open up the running lanes for Mark Ingram. In 2019, Armstead’s salary cap hit escalates to $16 million, which is the second-highest on the team behind Drew Brees. He already restructured his contract in November, and will turn 28 in July. On one hand, you have a case of a player who hasn’t played a full season in the league since bursting onto the scene in 2013. On the other hand, the Saints have made sure to have an insurance policy of sorts to compensate for this. New Orleans would obviously like to lower this cap charge in 2019 to create some space, as his hits over the final three years of his current deal come at an average of $15.5 million/year until he becomes a free agent in 2022. According to Spotrac Womens Drew Brees Jersey , he’s the No. 3 highest cap hit among all left tackles in 2019. With several players nearing the end of their contracts, the front office will have some difficult decisions. The team isn’t in the business of letting great players get away, and they demonstrated that by making DeMarcus Lawrence the highest paid player in Cowboys history. Retaining their top talent is priority one, but the expression, “you can’t pay everyone” surfaces quite a bit. While there is truth to that statement, what the Cowboys can do is pay everyone they want to pay. If a player like DeMarco Murray, Ron Leary, Anthony Hitchens, or Cole Beasley isn’t re-signed it’s because the front office doesn’t feel they are worth the money they got in free agency. If they did, they would still be Cowboys. The team’s ability to lay off of overpaying for players is one of the reasons they’ve done a complete 180 in terms of cap space. The front office avoids overspending in free agency on a regular basis and all this financial responsibility has set them up nicely for the future. That’s gotta feel good. But not everyone the Cowboys have under contract are players the team is getting a good return on their investment. And while they’ve done a good job extricating several bad contracts, some still linger around. In some cases, the team has had to just bite the bullet because of the lack of other options on the roster, but things are a little different now. The team has great depth. An early look at the players fighting for roster spots has about 60 players who could conceivably make the team. There are likely other names not listed here that will find their way on the final roster come September. When you start cutting down the players, it’s easy to see that it’s going to eventually cut deep enough where several good players are not going to make the team. Deciding who’s going to be cut is going to be difficult. Some of these players are set in stone. The star players and the young, premium draft investments who are expected to be a part of their future - they’re not going anywhere. But what about some of the more expensive veterans who will be sharing reps? Just how important are these players? If the team has enough depth at a certain position to where they are not logging a lot of snaps, does it really make sense to take on a more expensive cap hit? For example - Tyrone Crawford, Sean Lee, Allen Hurns, Jason Witten can combine for a total savings of $30.25 million.Clearly, the Cowboys aren’t going to cut all these players Taco Charlton Jersey White , and they may end up not cutting any of them, but man - that’s a lot of extra cash. They are all ‘right-kind-of-guys’ in their finest form, but they will not come close to contributing enough to warrant that cost. Let’s examine each player to see what makes the most sense.Tyrone CrawfordFor years Crawford has been one of the team’s most underrated players. He gets a lot of criticism for not producing at a level indicative of his contract, but that doesn’t mean he’s not a strong contributor. Crawford has battled injuries, yet still finds his way on the field, proving to be very reliable. Even more helpful is his ability to play inside and out, allowing the team to fill voids along the defensive line over the years. While the Cowboys’ needs at certain spots on the defensive line has always put Crawford in high demand, the gradual increase in depth now makes him less valuable. He’s not starting on the edge over Robert Quinn. The team also has a slew of youngsters they’d like to get some reps eventually. And who knows what’s going to happen this year with Gregory? It’s very possible that Crawford isn’t going to see much action at defensive end this season. So, just move him inside, right? Except the team now has both Maliek Collins and rookie Trysten Hill vying for reps at the 3-tech spot. How’s that going to work? And it’s not like they can just move Collins to 1-tech to open up more reps because Antwaun Woods and new free agent Christian Covington are already fighting for snaps there. The defensive line is a crowded group. Crawford is certainly up there on the depth chart, but the guys right below him aren’t far behind. In fact, it’s up for debate as to how the reps should be distributed. His reps could see a notable dip which isn’t what you’d want to see from one of the higher-paid players on the team. Would it be financially feasible to continue to shell out that kind of cash for a reduced workload? Here is a breakdown of his contract situation (numbers courtesy of spotrac.com):The team could save a total of $15 million if they were to release him. Most people would want to keep Crawford on this team for depth, but when you think about how much better use the team could get from all that money, it makes you wonder just how valuable Crawford is to the team.Bottom line: Crawford is not going anywhere, and keeping him around allows them the luxury of revisiting the defensive line situation a year from now. With so much uncertainty going on with this group, the team can’t risk weakening an area they’ve worked too hard to build up.Allen HurnsLast week, we discussed how a deep wide receiving group could push Hurns off the roster. Looking at the roster above, there are seven receivers fighting for spots and that doesn’t even included undrafted free agents like Jon’Vea Johnson and Jalen Guyton, who shouldn’t be written off as having no chance to make the team. Who really knows how this wide receiver group is going to shape out? What we do know though is that Hurns is the second-highest cap hit of all the wide receivers. The team could save $5 million by cutting him, which puts him at a disadvantage when it comes time to round out this roster. When you look at all the depth within this position group, it’s hard enough to make the squad Ezekiel Elliott Jersey White , but when you carry one of the biggest cap burdens - that makes it even worse. But Hurns is here and he’ll have a chance to compete. Not only is he going to have to impress, it might take an injury to one of the guys ahead of him to secure a roster spot. And that’s not unimaginable as both Randall Cobb and Tavon Austin have trouble staying healthy. This could open the door just enough to keep Hurns in a Cowboys uniform for one more season.Bottom line: It’s not looking good for him. He needs some things to work in his favor to avoid being a cap casualty come September.Sean LeeJust yesterday, we examined how important Sean Lee is to the team. It’s tough to imagine how things will play out, but we gave it a try and came up with three possible scenarios for Lee next season. Ultimately, what he shows in camp has the most influence on how to proceed with him going forward. If he suffers some type of injury setback, which let’s face it - isn’t unrealistic, that could be a deal breaker because his only value to the team is what he can produce this upcoming season.Lee unselfishly reworked his deal to go from a $10 million cap hit to $6 million, and that certainly makes a difference as he would’ve inevitably been a cap casualty had he not done that. For Lee, it’s not about the money. He’s always expressed how the Jones’ family has been very generous to him and he’s not lying. Lee has taken home over $42 million over his career so far, which seems pretty fair considering how much time he’s missed. For Lee, he just wants to be a part of the team and while a reduced cost helps his chances, there are no guarantees. Bottom line: This is a wait and see situation. If he can stay healthy and flashes some of the old Lee, he’s a no-brainer keeper. But if when he goes down, that’s when things get dicey.Jason WittenWhy is his name listed in this group? Who in their right mind would even consider playing without the legendary Jason Witten? When the Cowboys veteran tight end made the decision to return, most fans welcomed him back with open arms. Sure, he’s 37 and for a lot of football players - that’s old. Every year, he’s been projected to fizzle out as age gets the better of him, yet every year he keeps rolling along. His numbers have shown a decline as his targets, receptions, and yards have all dropped since 2015.But so have his expectations. For Witten, it’s not about volume numbers to help you win your fantasy league Womens Taco Charlton Jersey , but rather his well-timed, chain-moving catches that help his team. He’s been a dependable target for Dak Prescott since the young quarterback entered the league. His precision route-running and attention to detail will help mask the unimpressive athletic ability that he never had in the first place. He’s still 6’6” and 260 lbs. as that hasn’t changed. He’s extremely durable as hasn’t missed a game since The Lord of the Rings won best picture back in 2004. And he’s still clever. In fact, that part gets better with age.The Cowboys will tell you that he’ll see a reduction in workload and fans are hoping that holds true. Many of us want to see Blake Jarwin take off and Dalton Schultz build on a solid rookie season. Let the young guys get their chance, with a little Witten sprinkled in here and there. The problem is - unless the time off slows him down, Witten’s going to keep doing Witten things, and that’s certainly not a bad thing.Bottom line: Of this group, not only does cutting Witten save the Cowboys the least amount of money, but he’ll probably log the most playing time as well. Even if he does slow down, that’s still good value. Witten stays. Can you see the Cowboys moving on from any of these players? Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones already dismissed any concern over Ezekiel Elliott‘s incident in Las Vegas over the weekend. Owner Jerry Jones echoed the same thought about the running back Thursday.“The main thing is that I don’t see anything that needs supporting in terms of his status with us,” Jerry Jones said, via David Moore of the . “His status with us has not been impacted in any way. Frankly, I know how conscientious he’s been in the off-season, and that’s good enough.”Elliott did not talk to reporters Wednesday during the team’s media access period, and coach Jason Garrett referred to Stephen Jones’ comments when asked about the TMZ.com video that showed Elliott in an altercation with a security guard.Las Vegas police working the music festival Elliott attended placed him in handcuffs, but the running back was not arrested. The security guard did not want to press charges after Elliott bodied him backward and gave him a forearm into a metal gate.Elliott, who served a six-game suspension in 2017, is seeking a long-term contract with the Cowboys after leading the league in rushing two of his first three seasons.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — General manager Chris Ballard spent most of the offseason talking about the two starting-caliber quarterbacks on the Indianapolis Colts‘ roster. It’s time to find out if he got it right.Ballard remained resolute in his opinion just minutes after watching Andrew Luck announce his surprise retirement following Saturday night’s preseason loss to the Chicago Bears.“We’ve got a good football team Darius Leonard Jersey White , this is a good football team,” Ballard said. “We’re not going to ask Jacoby Brissett to be Andrew Luck. Andrew Luck was a unique, unique player. But Jacoby Brissett is a winning football player in this league. Jacoby Brissett is a rare, rare leader. He is. He’s a rare human being, man. The locker room loves Jacoby Brissett.”The Colts already have a pretty good sense of what they have in Brissett, Luck’s successor. He possesses prototypical size and a strong arm. He has starting experience and served as understudy to both Luck and Tom Brady Peyton Manning Jersey , after New England drafted him in the third round in 2016. Even Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells is a fan. And now in his second season with coach Frank Reich and two full offseasons to learn the playbook, he has demonstrated a mastery of the playbook throughout training camp. But this is not the same player who came to Indianapolis in a cutdown weekend trade in 2017, relieved Scott Tolzien eight days later in the season opener and then went 4-11 as the starter as Luck recovered from shoulder surgery. In the two years since most fans last saw Brissett play, he’s become a more polished quarterback who makes quicker decisions and willingly throws the ball away —though there’s no doubt about his toughness in the pocket.“The quarterback and the center really have to have complete control over (protection schemes) and I think Jacoby has made major — he was good last year, but I really think he’s made major strides to get really good in that area,” Reich said last week. “And just generally speaking Darius Leonard Jersey , getting the ball out quick with rhythm, with timing.”Now he must prove it to all those who doubt him.
