The Jets won on Sunday http://www.jetslockerroom.com/authentic-mark-gastineau-jersey , which means it is our happy duty to award a game ball. There were plenty of standout performances which would merit game ball consideration on most weeks, including those of Robby Anderson and Leonard Williams. I think the pick is pretty easy for this game, though.Isaiah Crowell set a new Jets franchise record with 219 rushing yards. He needed only 15 carries to get those yards Brandon Shell Jersey , leaving him with a ridiculous 14.6 yard average per carry. He became just the fourth player in NFL history to exceed 200 yards in a single game with 15 or fewer carries. The Jets have been quite open that they believe the key to success on offense is through running the football. They don’t want to put too much on the plate of their rookie quarterback, which requires rushing the football effectively.Things went according to plan this week, mainly because of Crowell. He gets my game ball as a result.Who gets yours? The free agency period isn’t over.
Our offseason countdown kicks off with the Number 20

Most Memorable Moment of 2018."Let the 2018 Countdown begin! It’s crazy how fast the offseason goes by. February is over Hjalte Froholdt Jersey Draft , Free Agency has begun, and the annual freakout that accompanies losing Patriots players to other teams is in full swing. I better get a move on here before the draft hits and minicamp starts.Picking the Number 20 Most Memorable Patriots Moment of the year is always one of the hardest, as it’s the last one to make the list and ends up edging out a few other moments that could have easily taken its place. I always make a point to ensure that my countdown encapsulates the whole season, from start to finish, and because of that there may be a few moments in here that might not have been as impactful as some others, but helps paint the picture as a whole. And that’s certainly the case with the Number 20 Moment of 2018, as it takes us all the way back to August, before the season kicked off in earnest, with a play that didn’t mean a damn thing, but was a lot of fun regardless.20. Danny Etling gets half of the Giants fired with an 86 yard touchdown run.Week 4 of the preseason is usually only exciting for one reason - it’s the last game before the season starts in earnest, and so it’s easy to get pumped up knowing that real football is just a few days away. Other than that Hjalte Froholdt NFL Jersey , there’s not much going on there. Most folks don’t even bother to watch the last week of the preseason, as it’s played almost entirely by the guys fighting for those last few roster spots and showcasing their skills to the rest of the league in hopes of landing a spot on a practice squad somewhere.I wish I could say I had better things to do every late August...but I don’t. Week 4 of every Patriots preseason is almost always played against the New York Giants, and 2018 was no exception. August 30, 2018 saw the Pats backups travel to East Rutherford, NJ to take on the G-men’s backups in an 17-12 barnburner that pitted 7th round rookie Danny Etling against 4th round rookie Kyle Lauletta. The game was, as most preseason games are, completely forgettable; Etling threw for 157 yards with a TD and two picks, and nobody on the Patriots cracked 100 receiving yards. In fact, not a single Patriots player who caught a pass or ran the ball ended up making the final 53. The Giants took a 6-3 lead into halftime in a first half that saw 13 possessions, eight punts, and three interceptions. If you turned the game off at that point Hjalte Froholdt NFL Draft , you were smart. But you also missed what was probably the play of the preseason, which came late in the fourth quarter with the Patriots leading 10-6 off a 3rd quarter Ralph Webb touchdown reception. After the Giants turned the ball over on downs, Danny Etling took the field at his out 14 with less than four minutes to play and looking to engineer a long drive to close the game out. On 1st and 10, he lined up in shotgun, and at the snap faked the draw handoff to Webb, who dummy ran right into the middle of the line. The entire Giants defense collapsed on Webb, who didn’t have the ball as Etling took off down the right sideline. By the time anyone knew what was going on, Etling was 15 yards down the field with the ball in his hand. The closest Giant to him was a 3rd string linebacker about 20 yards away without a single prayer of catching him. Etling ran 86 yards, completely untouched, into the end zone to put the Patriots up 16-6. It would be the last TD the Patriots scored in that game as they went on to win 17-12, closing out the preseason with a 3-1 record.Whether Danny Etling has any kind of future in New England Hjalte Froholdt Buffalo Bills Jersey , or the NFL, remains to be seen; I mean when was the last time a late round quarterback ended up working out for the Patriots? His preseason stat line is nothing to look at - 30 of 38 for 178 yards, a TD, and two interceptions - but he has drawn praise from the team on multiple occasions for his work as a scout QB, earned practice player of the week on multiple occasions, and he did enough this year to be one of the first players signed to a futures/reserve contract. So there’s reason for optimism for sure. But even if Etling doesn’t work out, even if he goes on to become an insurance salesman the way you’re apparently required to by law if you were once an NFL QB, he’ll always have that play in late August were he smoked the entire Giants defense on his way to the end zone. It was a cool moment, and a chance to recognize a player that made positive contributions to a championship run in his own way, so Etling gets the honor of kicking off this list at Number 20.Check out the run here. And if you’re somehow in the mood for full Week 4 of the preseason highlights, you can check those out here.
Two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning thinks the New York Giants

are heading in the right direction White Nate Solder Jerseys , and the soon-to-be 38-year-old believes he has enough in the tank to lead them on another championship run.A day after the Giants (5-9) were eliminated from postseason contention for the sixth time in seven years, Manning said Monday the team didn't win enough of the close games earlier in the season in their 1-7 start. He was encouraged how the team rebounded after the bye week, winning four of five games before being shut out by Tennessee on a rainy Sunday."Yeah, I know I can play, I can make the throws," said Manning, who has thrown for 3,689 yards, 18 touchdowns and nine interceptions while hitting almost 66 percent of his passes this season. "Yesterday, I made some good throws. So, it still feels like I can run around and make plays, and do a lot of good things. When there was a stretch when we were playing good football Nate Solder Jerseys 2019 , and we just got to get back to it."An hour earlier, first-year coach Pat Shurmur said he believed Manning can still play. When pressed about whether he wanted him back on the team, Shurmur said he wants all his players back. He noted the team has two more wins than last season with two games to play."Coach has had my back all year. He's been great. He believes in me," Manning said. "That makes your job easier, when the coach believes in you. We know we can play better. So, it's a start."The Giants don't have a quarterback in waiting. Rookie Kyle Lauletta, the fourth-round pick last year, was dreadful playing the fourth quarter a week ago against Washington. Alex Tanney is a journeyman backup.General manager Dave Gettleman could draft a quarterback next spring, but New York needs help on its lines, linebacker and safety, just to name a few spots.Signing a free agent will cost money, so the Giants have a lot to think about in the offseason.Shurmur White Kareem Martin Jerseys , who took over a 3-13 team, said missing the playoffs simply means the Giants did not attain their goal."Does that mean we're failures?" he said. "No. What it means is we've got a lot of work to do. That's what it means, and I want to finish this year in a way that shows that we've grown so that we're at a different spot than we were a year ago to make some more of that growth that we all know needs to happen."Shurmur's immediate goal is to win at Indianapolis this weekend and finish with a win at home against Dallas. He said he is playing to win and Manning is the guy who offers the teams its best chance. So he starts.Shurmur added he believes Manning has a couple of good years left."I've seen him play good football, and I've seen how when we have a coordinated effort of protecting him, running the football effectively, and being able to run the ball throughout the game, it helps us," Shurmur said. The question for the Giants in the offseason is whether they will be able to provide Manning the type of offense in which he can thrive. If they can protect him and run the ball with No. 2 overall draft pick Saquon Barkley, he has the arm to make all the passes. If they can't, they might need a quarterback who offers the added dimension of being elusive.Wide receiver Sterling Shepard has experienced two dismal seasons for the team after making the playoffs as a rookie in 2016."We've been fighting through a lot of stuff, showed some great things and showed some things that we need to correct," he said Kareem Martin Jerseys 2019 , "and this will give us good momentum going into next season if we could finish strong and win two games against two really good teams."NOTES: Shurmur did not know which of his injured players would be ready for Sunday's game against the Colts, who improved to 8-6 with a shutout win over Dallas. C Spencer Pulley (calf), WR Russell Shepard (ankle), CB Antonio Hamilton (quad) were hurt Sunday. WR Odell Beckham Jr. has missed the last two games with a quad injury. Shurmur said the team is not shutting him down and he will play if ready. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants have an X-Man, hopefully with the power of a pass rush. The Giants addressed their need for an edge rusher, taking defensive end Oshane Ximines of Old Dominion late in the third round Friday.A four-year starter and the first player to be drafted at his school, Ximines had 58 tackles this season, including 18 1/2 for losses. The defensive end had 12 sacks last season, finishing his career with 33. He had 11 forced fumbles in his career.“As we all get to know ‘X-Man’ better, you are going to see why we picked him,” coach Pat Shurmur said.General manager Dave Gettleman said Ximines had second-round value and the Giants started focusing on him as a potential pick roughly 14 or 15 picks before taking him with the 95th pick overall.Ximines Youth Kyle Lauletta Jerseys , who grew up in North Carolina, said his parents were from New York City and they were rooting for him to be drafted by the Giants.“I figured the NFL was a possibility by my junior year,” Ximines said in a conference call. “They just started reaching out to me and it started to become a reality for me. I just tried to work as hard as possible.”While Ximines did not play in a top-level conference, Gettleman said he had the ability to start for teams in the ACC.He also said he was unique in that he has to ability to make counter moves against an offensive lineman, something college players usually have to learn after they get to the NFL.Defensive linemen from small schools have excelled with the Giants. Hall of Famer Michael Strahan was from Texas Southern and Osi Umenyiora played at Troy. The Giants had three picks in the first round on Thursday. They took quarterback Daniel Jones of Duke at sixth overall, Clemson tackle Dexter Lawrence at No. 17 and Georgia cornerback Deandre Baker at No 30 after a late trade with Seattle. They waited 65 picks on Friday before taking Ximines.“I said it last night, we need pass rush help,” Gettleman said. “We feel we’ve addressed it. We got inside pass rusher help (Lawrence) and we got outside pass rush help.”The Giants will have six picks in the final four rounds on Saturday. They still need help at safety and linebacker as well as a wide receiver who can go deep.“The draft, it’s a full draft,” Gettleman said. “There are guys in the fourth and fifth rounds that we really like and we still have third-round guys available.”

We’ve been breaking down a number of players so far by talking to the college bloggers who have been covering them through their playing career. This time we’re breaking down Oklahoma interior lineman Cody Ford with Jack Shields from Crimson and Cream Machine. What are his strengths? His biggest strengths are his athleticism (relative to his size) Devin Singletary Jersey , his footwork and his general nastiness. Additionally, his versatility has to be a huge plus for NFL GMs, as he has meaningful experience at both tackle and guard. What are his weaknesses? The other side to that coin is that he doesn’t have sustained experience at any one spot, so he’s still going to be a bit of a project no matter where he’s placed. One knock is probably the fact that his arms are somewhat short for a tackle http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/dawson-knox-jersey , and he also occasionally experiences issues with the speed rush. Because of these things, some believe he would be better suited as a guard at the next level, but I believe he still has the upside to have a long career on the outside.Would Buffalo be a good fit?I think he’d be a decent fit in Buffalo due to the fact that the Bills have a forward-thinking offensive coordinator in Brian Daboll. I think he’ll be able to utilize his strengths. For instance, Ford has a ton of experience with creative misdirection at Oklahoma Youth John Brown Jerseys , and you see a lot of that from Daboll’s offense. Is he worthy of the top-10 pick?As far as his draft positioning is concerned, I’d see him as sort of a fringe top-10 pick. With the Bills picking at No. 9, he would probably be a good/sensible pick. Next read:

Sunday Night Football Infant Jachai Polite Jersey , Week 17. Last game of the 2018 NFL regular season. How did it get it so late so soon? Tonight the Indianapolis Colts travel to Music City to take on the Tennessee Titans. This is how you end a season. A winner take all game. Win and you’re in. Lose and you’re out. The 9-6 Indianapolis Colts come into tonight’s game on a wildly improbable playoff run. This team was 1-5 after six games, coming off a devastating loss to the New York Jets and all but buried in the playoff race. Since that low point in the season the Colts have been as hot as any team in the NFL. They have reeled off eight wins in their last nine games, their only loss coming in a 6-0 nightmare against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Colts look to complete a season sweep of their division rivals, the Tennessee Titans, and complete their fairy tale run to the 2018 NFL playoffs.Standing in the way of the Colts is a Tennessee Titans team that was embarrassed Jachai Polite Jersey Draft , 38-10, when these two teams met in November in Indianapolis. However, the Titans are on a roll of their own, winners of four straight and six of eight to position themselves for a win and you’re in game in front of their hometown fans. There’s no better way to end a season than a winner take all game. It’s the Colts and the Titans in a game where the winner survives to fight another day and the loser goes home for the season and plots their next move in preparation for 2019. We had so many that I’m thinking of doing a second mailbag on Friday just to try and get to all of them. Today we look at the floor and ceiling of Frankie Luvu, what options remain at the center position, whether Muhammad Wilkerson is worth bringing back on a cheap deal Jachai Polite NFL Draft , whether high-risk high-reward is the best strategy in the Draft, whether the Jets should explore a trade of Darron Lee for Pittsburgh’s Artie Burns, whether Lee could have a productive role on the team this season, and whether the team should push to bring back Morris Claiborne.Thank you again for the mailbag questions, and thank you for listening to the show.

Every one of the players picked by the Super Bowl winners brings specific strengths to the table, and here are ten statistics — compiled for most parts through Pro Football Focus’ draft guide — that help illustrate them.1-32 WR N’Keal Harry: 135.4N’Keal Harry is projected to serve primarily as a physical boundary receiver in New England’s offense, playing a similar role to the one held by Josh Gordon before his suspension last year. Like Gordon, the first-round rookie will likely also challenge opposing defenses deep — and his deep passing numbers from the 2018 season show that he should be up for the challenge: Harry was targeted deep 18 times and came away with 9 catches for 276 yards and 4 touchdowns.Arizona State quarterback Manny Wilkins registered a passer rating of 135.4 when going deep to the new Patriot, the highest among all of the 28 drafted wide receivers. Harry’s 14.9 yards per reception last year also reflect his abilities as a deep threat. When comparing that number to New England’s 2018 receiving group, it can be seen that only Gordon (18.0) and Chris Hogan (15.2) registered more yards per catch.2-45 CB Joejuan Williams: 48.0When New England traded up to draft Joejuan Williams in the second round, the team did so knowing that it would get a uncharacteristically tall cornerback that is versatile and physical enough to find success against tall receiver and tight ends. Williams’ success in this regard at Vanderbilt speaks for itself, with one number in particular standing out: he allowed only 48.0% of targets to be completed — 36 of 75 attempts.3-77 DE Chase Winovich: 11.8With Trey Flowers and Adrian Clayborn both leaving the team during the offseason, the Patriots needed additional bodies on the defensive edge. They found Chase Winovich in the third round to provide depth as well as playmaking ability against both the pass and the run. Versus the pass, Winovich registered 53 hurries in 2018 — 5.0 sacks, 14 quarterback hits and 34 hurries — but it is work against the ground game that really jumps off the page.Last year, the Michigan product played 288 run-defense snaps and he registered a stop on 34 of them. His run-stop percentage of 11.8% ranks him fourth among all drafted defensive linemen: only first-round picks Quinnen Williams (14.2%), Montez Sweat (12.7%) and Christian Wilkins (11.9%) were more efficient when it comes to stopping the run than the Patriots’ third pick of the 2019 draft.3-87 RB Damien Harris: 3.2Despite the Patriots having one of the deepest running back groups in the NFL, they opted to add to the position with the 87th overall selection. Alabama’s Damien Harris is expected to serve as the 1B back alongside 2018’s first-rounder Sony Michel, and he certainly has the abilities to serve as an early down and goal line runner in New England — one capable of grinding out positive yards through contact, as his 3.2 average yards gained after initial contact in 2018 illustrates.3-101 OT Yodny Cajuste: 3.0Yodny Cajuste is a developmental offensive tackle, that is expected to start his career as a backup swing tackle behind projected starters Isaiah Wynn and Marcus Cannon. While he needs to refine his technique especially in the running game, Cajuste has already been quite effective as a pass blocker: West Virginia’s left tackle surrendered quarterback pressures on just 3.0% of his 394 pass blocking snaps last year. All in all Infant Joejuan Williams Jersey , he surrendered no sacks, and only two hits and ten hurries.4-118 OG Hjalte Froholdt: 1.2As is the case with Cajuste, pass blocking is also the forte of Hjalte Froholdt. In fact, the Patriots’ first selection of day three was even more successful (albeit while playing a different position): on 418 pass-blocking snaps, the Arkansas lineman surrendered just three hits and two hurries for a pressure rate of only 1.2%. While his run blocking needs some refinement, Froholdt’s fundamentals as a pass blocker certainly make for an intriguing prospect.4-133 QB Jarrett Stidham: 123.2The majority of Jarrett Stidham’s passing numbers do not stand out, and are likely a reason why he was still available in the fourth round. One statistic, however, pops out right away: his deep passing efficiency. The Auburn quarterback completed 18 of 51 attempts deep for 681 yards with 8 touchdowns and zero interceptions. Only one other quarterback that heard his name called — new Denver Broncos passer Drew Lock — registered a higher deep-field passer rating in 2018 than Stidham’s 123.2.5-159 DE Byron Cowart: 2Byron Cowart’s college career — one that started at Auburn before a transfer to Maryland — was nothing to write home about for a player that entered college as a five-star recruit. Few of his numbers do therefore jump off the page, but one stands out: the versatile lineman, who has experience playing both on the interior and the edge, registered two interceptions in 2018. New England, for comparison, did not see a lineman come up with a pick since Eric Lee accomplished the feat in week 13 of the 2017 season.5-163 P Jake Bailey: 61.7%Even though the Patriots re-signed incumbent Ryan Allen in free agency, they brought on some competition (for the second straight year, in fact): Stanford punter Jake Bailey. Allen has the experience, but New England’s fifth-round investment is certainly an intriguing player to watch for his leg strength and his ability to potentially also take pressure off place kicker Stephen Gostkowski as a kickoff specialist.Bailey succeeded in numerous metrics last year, but one is especially impressive: of his 68 punts, 37 landed inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. His 61.7% rate on such kicks is noticeably better than Allen’s production in this area last year: New England’s punter saw only 21 of 64 punting attempts (32.8%) set the opponent up inside its own 20. Allen’s directional kicking was always one of his better attributes Joejuan Williams Jersey Draft , so if Bailey is able to challenge him in this part of the game, New England might have someone else back in punting situations this season.7-252 CB Ken Webster: 22.231 cornerbacks were drafted before Ken Webster heard his name called with the antepenultimate selection in the entire draft. Of those 31, only seven rank ahead of the Mississippi defender when it comes to forcing incomplete passes in 2018: Webster was able to get his hands on 6 of the 27 passes thrown his way last year, for a forced incompletion percentage of 22.2%. He furthermore registered a pair of interceptions and surrendered a passer rating of just 58.1 — solid numbers for the seventh-round selection. Bailey will challenge Ryan Allen’s spot as New England’s punter." />Skip to main contentclockmenumore-arrownoyesHorizontal - WhitePats Pulpita New England Patriots communityLog In or Sign UpLog InSign UpPatriots NewsOpinion and AnalysisContribute!About the SiteTopicsPatriotsOddsShopStubHubMoreAll 322 blogs on Horizontal - WhitePatriots News Opinion and Analysis Contribute! However, only 53 of them will be able to survive the cutdowns on August 31 and ultimately make the team. Over the course of the summer, we will take a look at the players fighting for those spots to find out who has the best chances of helping the Patriots defend their Super Bowl title.Today, the series continues with one of New England’s draft picks:Name: Jake BaileyPosition: Punter/Kickoff specialistJersey number: TBD (offseason #60)Age: 21Experience: RookieSize: 6’2, 200 lbs.2018 review: Entering his fourth year at Stanford, Jake Bailey served not just as punter but also kickoff specialist; he showed why and produced the finest season of his collegiate career. Overall, he punted the football 68 times in 2018 for a gross average of 44.1 yards per kick — a number that would have ranked 27th in the NFL last season. His net average of 40.0 yards per kick, on the other hand, would have made Bailey 16th best in the pros.Bailey was also able to produce solid fair catch numbers, as 32.4% of his punts were not returned. Furthermore, he regularly pinned opponents inside their own 20-yard line: he did so on 35.3% of his attempts. But while Bailey’s leg strength was on display in all 13 of his games last year and he also produced a career-high 66-yard punt, his ball placement was a bit inconsistent as a total of 14.7% of his punts ended in touchbacks. The senior punter also performed generally well in his other role: he kicked off 72 times during the 2018 season, with 60 of the kicks resulting in touchbacks. When the ball was returned Joejuan Williams NFL Jersey , the Cardinal’s opponents gained an average of 33.2 yards — which is probably more reflective of the team’s kick coverage, however, than Bailey’s performance as the man sending the football down the field. His only blemish might be that two kicks went out of bounds.Overall, however, he had a solid final year at Stanford — one during which he also performed as a holder on field goal and extra point attempts. Bailey was perfect, as his team’s lone miss in either category on a combined 49 attempts was not the result of an error of his.2019 preview: New England traded up in the fifth round of this year’s draft to select Bailey 163rd overall. Despite the team moving up the board to get him, however, the rookie is no lock to make its 53-man roster this year: he needs to beat out recently re-signed Ryan Allen, who has held the Patriots’ punter role since 2013. In order to do that, Bailey will have to not only show off his strong leg and versatility but also become a consistent performer.During the lone organized team activity practice open to the media, this has been a problem for the Stanford product. While he worked on both kickoffs and punts and demonstrated tremendous hang-time and a strong leg, his inconsistency was on display as well. If Bailey can work on it and show that his ball placement can rival Allen’s, however, it would not be a surprise to see the rookie beat out the veteran. What also speaks for the youngster is his contract status: while Allen plays on a one-year deal that hits New England’s books with $1.5 million this season and includes little guaranteed money, Bailey is under the Patriots’ control for the next four seasons and will ‘only’ cost the club $2.8 million — over the entire four-year span. This in combination with his upside and versatility makes Bailey an intriguing option, and a serious challenger for Allen’s role on the team.

Enough offensive linemen for several teams, a new-look receiver room, and a potential monster to man the middle of the defense all have us dreaming big. Deep down, though, everyone knows that the Bills’ fortunes hinge on Josh Allen. Flashes of potential and some big-time throws are nice, but the overall statistical output was not great by any means. Buffalo will need him to make a leap, so we’ll try to make a reasonable projection of what we can expect.MethodologyThis project looks to predict growth in five key areas: Yards/Game, Yards/Attempt, Completion Percentage, Interception Percentage, and Touchdown Percentage. These five were selected as a result of who we looked to compare Josh Allen to. To make the projection, data was gathered for quarterbacks who had 50 or more regular-season passing attempts in their first two seasons. This was done league wide over a span of ten years, with quarterbacks drafted from 2008 to 2017. Because many of these quarterbacks did not start at the beginning of their first year (like Josh Allen) or were spot players, a greater emphasis was placed on rate-based stats. Volume-based data would be drastically different between John Skelton and Andrew Luck, for example. For the five measures, the difference between year one and two was calculated for every quarterback (37 in total). An average change was calculated as well as the standard deviation for each to come up with a range of “normal change” for each metric. With all that said, it’s time for some charts. Yards/GameThis format will be used for each of the metrics. Josh Allen’s first year is followed by the three “likely” outcomes. The “projection ave” is the perfect mean-average-change for the quarterback data set added to Josh Allen’s first year. The “projection min” and “max” are the limits of the normal range (one standard deviation from the mean). For fun I’ve also added the best-case scenario. Because of the varying circumstances in how each quarterback found their way to the field, this is an incredibly volatile data set. Allen’s year one was pretty dismal as the 32nd-ranked quarterback in this measure. If he has a pretty ordinary increase, Allen will hit 191 yards per game or so, which would be a disappointment for sure. A regression isn’t out of the question, either. For the optimists, it wouldn’t be a major shocker for him to reach the 230 yards-per-game range. This would have been good for 25th in the league last year, but quarterbacks have been successful with this output. For our best case scenario, John Skelton was able to increase his completion percentage and yards per attempt significantly. These efficiency tweaks seemed to have paid off by increasing his per-game yardage by nearly 110 yards per game. This increase for Allen would put him just shy of 300 yards per game, which would be near the top of the league. The closest realistic parallel is Blake Bortles, who increased his yardage per game by nearly 70 yards. Yards/AttemptYards per attempt should help factor out some of the wackiness that occurred above thanks to drastically different playing times. Allen’s debut of 6.5 yards per attempt was tied for 31st in the league. Average change in the ten-year span was a very slight uptick. However, we again see high variability. Regression could get ugly quick, but progression within even the normal range would have Josh Allen reach 7.8 yards per attempt, which would most likely be flirting with the top ten. The best case scenario is that changes in the team lead to a Jared Goff-like change of 2.7 yards per attempt. Goff improved from a hideous 5.3 yards per attempt to a more than healthy 8.0 Y/A. While that same change would put Allen at 9.2, that’s not out of the question. Goff was actually tied with Nick Foles for the largest increase in this stat during the ten-year span. Foles’s first year of 6.4 led to 9.1 in his second year. If Allen were to reach that high he’d almost certainly be top three. Completion PercentageNo statistic is used more frequently to disparage Josh Allen than completion percentage. His 52.8% was dead last in the league. Regression would make him dead last-ier. Perfectly average change would lead him to 54.2%, which probably would keep him dead last. A top-end “normal” improvement leads to 58.7%. While not dead last, it would have been close in 2018. The best case scenario comes courtesy of Christian Ponder—who started at 54% and improved in his second year by 7.8%. There’s room to hope here, too, as five of the quarterbacks in the decade of data had improvement of 7% or higher. Another four quarterbacks improved by 6% or more. Unfortunately, though Vosean Joseph NFL Jersey , to get to league average Allen would need to jump about 13%, which is nearly twice what any quarterback was capable of doing between year one and year two. Touchdown PercentageNo one will care about completion percentage or yardage if the team is piling on points. One way Josh Allen can help that is to increase his touchdown percentage. This measure is simply the percent of passes a quarterback throws that go for a touchdown. In his first year, Allen threw a touchdown 3.1% of the time or about one every 32 passes. This had him tied for 30th. Average improvement would put him at 4.0%, which should be striking distance from league average. A jump to 6.2% would still classify as “normal” but place Allen in the top ten in all likelihood. Nick Foles provides the best-case scenario. His jump of 6.2% is in large part thanks to a dreadful year one at 2.3%. Carson Wentz also provides hope of major improvement going from 2.6% to 7.5%. Interception PercentageThis one is last because it’s the only stat where less is more. Josh Allen was second worst in the league in 2018 with his 3.8% rate. And note that these are all for qualifying quarterbacks. A certain someone had over twice the interception rate as Josh Allen. His name rhymes with “Skate Skeeterman” if you’re curious. Regression would clearly be bad. On average, quarterbacks improved nearly half a percent. If Allen were to do that he’d still fare pretty poorly. We have another stat with a wide range of “normal change” though. There’s no reason to suggest Allen couldn’t improve all the way to 1.7% for interceptions. That should be right on the edge of top ten. For our “best case” scenario, two quarterbacks improved by over 4%, which would be impossible for Allen to improve by. So theoretically, the best case is that he throws zero interceptions—but that’s not incredibly likely. SummaryRight off the bat, here’s the good news: In all five metrics, at least 21 quarterbacks out of the sample of 37 improved in year two. For yards per game, 24 quarterbacks improved and for touchdown percentage 26 did. It’s more likely than not Josh Allen won’t regress. So while the “projected min” columns were included to show a normal range of change, it’s not realistic to expect that out of Allen. If Allen were to improve the average amount he’d have a pretty disappointing season, likely eliciting some cries to replace him in year three. Fans will be looking for a larger-than-average leap from Allen, with most measures toward the “projection-max” or “best-case” values. How likely is it that Allen will reach those heights? Well the “best-case” names are included for a reason. Many of the quarterbacks with the largest leaps were all ones who had a team prepared to invest in them. Carson Wentz, Nick Foles, Jared Goff, and yes Blake Bortles all saw big gains. Each of these quarterbacks had a team willing to bet on their guy, and several saw major team changes cater to the quarterback. If nothing else, it’s very clear that the Buffalo Bills have gone out of their way to prop up Josh Allen this season. If there’s something to this Josh Allen fella, it’s perfectly reasonable to think he’ll make a sizablejump in 2019. The Buffalo Bills practically stole Jerry Hughes from the Indianapolis Colts six years ago in a lopsided trade for the ages. The former first-round pick had underperformed in Indy as a 3-4 linebacker and was swapped for middle linebacker Kelvin Sheppard. Since then, he’s brought a ferocious pass rush and great all-around play to Buffalo, but his career is at a crossroads.Hughes is going to be 31 before the season starts and he’s entering the final year of a five-year, $45 million deal which will make him the second-highest cap hit on the roster in 2019. Which begs the question, should the Bills look to move on from Hughes, keep him for the final year of his contract, or sign him to an extension? We dove into all aspects of the decision and now you get to vote.All-22 Analysis(Read the entire article with GIFs by Jeff Kantrowski)There’s not much suspense here so I’ll cut to the chase. The Bills would be incredibly foolish to let Hughes find a new city. It’s true that his sack totals haven’t placed him in the best territory (seven in 2018). As a result, there’s a steady murmur of Hughes being washed up. Don’t buy into that narrative. Hughes is coming off one of his best seasons, even from a statistics standpoint.I think we all know the conclusion I came to about Jerry Hughes. Statistically, the only season he’s ever been more productive in was 2014. Defensive end impact players are a premium position and the Bills have a good one on the right side. Hughes is still a dynamic playmaker who makes his presence known. With the occasional hothead moment from Hughes being his biggest drawback, there’s no reason to let him walk.Salary Cap Implications(Read the entire article by Dylan Zadonowicz)If the Bills do surprisingly release Hughes, they would save quite a bit of money for the 2019 season. The team would have to turn to free agency and the NFL Draft to try and replace his production.Salary cap ramifications of cutting Hughes, numbers via Spotrac:2019 cap hit: $10.4 millionSalary due: $6.35 millionRoster bonus: $1 millionWorkout bonus: $150,000Annual sack incentives: $1 millionDead money if cut: $2.9 millionCap savings if cut: $7.5 million if released before roster bonusIn-house Replacement Options(Read the entire article by John Boccacino)The most logical in-house replacement is another former first-round pick: Shaq Lawson. Lawson struggled to make an impact in Rex Ryan’s 3-4 scheme during his rookie season, and didn’t get much better in 2017—the first season with Sean McDermott as head coach and Frazier as defensive coordinator. But in 2018, Lawson turned a corner and showed why Buffalo selected him with the 19th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Clemson. After appearing in 14 games (six starts) and finishing with four sacks Vosean Joseph Jersey Draft , 12 QB hits, 30 total tackles (five for a loss), five passes defended, and two forced fumbles, Pro Football Focus graded Lawson as the league’s 20th-best edge rusher. The 24-year-old Lawson carries a $3,270,586 million cap hit that is fully-guaranteed in 2019, but one season removed from an even timeshare with veteran defensive end Trent Murphy on the left side of the defensive line, Lawson should be in line for even more action this year. Lawson displayed the same athleticism that made him a standout at Clemson, leading the defensive line in balls batted down at the line of scrimmage, and when he wasn’t sacking the quarterback he was causing chaos in the opposing backfield. When it comes to Lawson’s role with the Bills, the biggest issue isn’t whether he will have a place on Frazier’s defense in 2019—he has proven himself to be a valuable contributor—it’s what the Bills will do about the fifth-year option on Lawson’s rookie contract. With young depth, the Bills could take their chances moving on from Hughes with just the players on their roster now if they wanted.Free-Agent Replacement Options(Read the entire article by Sean Murphy)If Buffalo does decide to go the free-agent route, it’s a strong free-agent class to do so. The only problem, of course, is money. If Buffalo wants to land a big-name pass rusher, they will have to shell out big-time dollars at the expense, literally and figuratively, of other positions with more pressing needs.DeMarcus LawrenceThe golden goose of this year’s free agent class is the young, dominant pass rusher. Coming off his second straight season of at least ten sacks, Lawrence turns 27 in April, and he should command a contract of at least $100 million. Over the last two seasons, he has 25 sacks, 29 tackles for loss, and 49 quarterback hits. Ezekiel AnsahThe veteran former first-round pick of the Detroit Lions is coming off an injury-plagued down year—one where he was only able to play in seven games total. However, he still managed four sacks, three tackles for loss, and seven quarterback hits in those seven games. For comparison’s sake, Hughes suited up in all of Buffalo’s games this year, and he totaled seven sacks, 13 tackles for loss, and 18 quarterback hits.Frank ClarkThere may be some East Coast Bias here, but Clark is far more under-the-radar than the previous names on the list. Playing for a stellar Seattle Seahawks defense, Clark has amassed 35 sacks, 35 tackles for loss Infant Vosean Joseph Jersey , and 72 quarterback hits over his four-year career. Last year, he totaled 13 sacks, 27 quarterback hits, four forced fumbles, and one interception. Trey FlowersThe Bills could kill two birds with one stone with this signing, simultaneously strengthening their team and weakening a divisional opponent, the New England Patriots, in the process. Flowers is an excellent all-around player who had seven-and-a-half sacks, nine tackles for loss, and 20 quarterback hits last season. In his career, he has 21 sacks, 25 tackles for loss, and 59 quarterback hits. Julius PeppersInsert obligatory mention of connections to Carolina Panthers via head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane here. The 39-year-old future Hall of Fame player still has some value as a situational pass rusher. He was with the Chicago Bears when McDermott was in Carolina, so their paths did not cross. It’s an unlikely signing.NFL Draft Replacement Options(Read the entire article with mini scouting reports by Andrew Griffin)If the Bills do move on from the long-time starter at defensive end, the team might best be served procuring some young, hungry talent in the draft. Currently, the 2019 Draft is loaded with talented pass rushers and defensive ends. Knowing the value teams place at the position, as many as five of the players listed below could end up as first-round picks.Tier INick Bosa (Ohio State) Josh Allen (Kentucky)Clelin Ferrell (Clemson)Nick Bosa is more athletic that his brother Joey, something he’ll prove at the combine in March. Importantly, he’s just as polished as Joey was when he came out for the draft. Allen appears to be athletic enough to handle multiple defensive roles, but he’s proven so effective as a pass rusher that coaches would be crazy to try to deploy him anywhere else. Although he isn’t as much of a natural bender as the names listed before him, Ferrell is big enough and good enough with his hands to the point where that lack of flexibility doesn’t matter too much.Tier IIJachai Polite (Florida)Brian Burns (Florida State)Montez Sweat (Mississippi State) Oshane Ximines (Old Dominion)Jaylon Ferguson (Louisiana Tech)Scouting reports available in the full article here.Tier IIICharles Omenihu (Texas)Joe Jackson (Miami-Florida)Zach Allen (Boston College)Ben Banogu (TCU)Scouting reports available in the full article here.Contract Extension Projection(Read the entire article by Matt Warren)Hughes has a current contract for $9 million per season over five years, and while it’s fair to expect a raise from that contract, that’s not the way the wind blew last year. Last offseason, Buffalo signed Trent Murphy to a $7.5 million per-year deal, and defensive ends on the market made less than that unless they were franchise-tagged. That would likely drive down the price for Hughes, but there’s a surge brewing. If Hughes and his agent are smart, they will wait until after all the huge deals get done at the start of free agency. With several big-name pass rushers expected to hit the market in March, per-year averages could soar.Conversely, the Bills should try to lock up Hughes while they still can get him for a discount before five guys sign huge deals this off-season. They have the cap space and they should sign one of their best defensive players for another few years. The time is right for both sides. Hughes can sign a lucrative deal before he turns 31 and hits free agency at nearly 32 before the 2020 season. The Bills get great production at a fair price for a few years. Here’s my projection:Three years, $33 million extensionFour years, $40.5 million total (including existing 2019)Fully guaranteed: $15.35 millionHughes and his camp can claim he received $11 million per year in new money, while the Bills can lock in Hughes at an average of $10 million per season. Both sides would probably agree to a sack-based incentive that could give him another $1 million each year as they did on his last contract.Read the full projection with comparable contracts and a yearly breakdown in the original article.Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY SportsWhat do you think the Bills should do with Hughes this offseason?

Buffalo Bills-Cleveland Browns preseason game

was highest-rated local TV event of summer Play Josh Allen Womens Devin Singletary Jersey , and fans will watch. The Buffalo Bills may have their own linchpin for a New-Era Field of Dreams if the on-field results combined with the TV ratings are any indication. Allen’s second preseason game was the highest-rated television program of the summer in the greater Buffalo area, according to Alan Pergament of The Buffalo News. The matchup between the Bills and the Cleveland Browns, a game the Bills ultimately won 19-17, earned a 23.8 rating on WKBW from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Much of that had to do with excitement over Allen’s promotion to the second team. When Allen took the field, the ratings ballooned a bit, although some of that boost might have been attributed to viewers just catching the Friday night broadcast between 8:30 and 9. With Allen leading the charge, the ratings ranged from 25.6 to a high of 25.9, staying in the 25 range for the remainder of the broadcast.Overall, the Bills’ first draft choice has been a hit both on the field and on the small screen.Analysis: Buffalo Bills running back Marcus Murphy was good against Cincinnati Bengals Following Week three of the preseason Authentic Devin Singletary Jersey , the Buffalo Bills are looking for flickers of hope after a dismal performance against the Cincinnati Bengals. Running back Marcus Murphy is one such flicker. With the offense living and dying on the back of LeSean McCoy, the depth of this position group is unusually important in Buffalo. Thus far, Murphy has helped alleviate some of the dread of the ever present threat of a McCoy injury. Play 1With the less-than-stellar reviews of the offensive line so far, let’s start out journey with Marcus Murphy’s blocking ability. With a stunting lineman trying to find a gap, Murphy steps up and uses good leverage to stop his man in his tracks. Josh Allen still goes down, but not because of Murphy. In fact, Murphy’s block provided breathing room if Allen could have drifted in that direction. Murphy also slips off after the impact and accelerates right away. Play 2Carlos Dunlap has a hell of a sidestep that looks to be taking him right around Jordan Mills. Mills’s right foot isn’t making me comfortable that he’ll be able to reset in time to prevent Dunlap from coming free at Josh Allen. Marcus Murphy isn’t quite as well favored by physics as he was last play, but cleanly stops Dunlap from encroaching further. Mills resets and Dunlap’s pass rush is negated. This is a perfect demonstration of scheming a chip in to help a lineman beat a one on one. Play 3This isn’t a route that will “wow,” but it’s certainly adequate at worst and pretty good for a running back at best. Offensive coordinator Brian Daboll hasn’t been shy about moving players around. Marcus Murphy saw enough time as a receiver to suspect it’s not just a gimmick. Note that Murphy begins blocking as Charles Clay catches the ball Devin Singletary Jersey Boys , essentially making Murphy a shifty fullback on this play. Murphy was targeted twice, catching both passes for seven total yards. Play 4The Bengals’ ability to rush during the game works against them a bit on this play. One, arguably two, defenders are so quick to cut into the offensive line that they take themselves out of run support. This isn’t to suggest that Murphy didn’t do some great things here, because he definitely does. He finds his lane and uses some subtle moves to navigate a narrow corridor. Murphy breaks one arm tackle on his way through and wills the pile to a first down. Play 5There’s no hesitation as Murphy hits the hole. Any slower and Dunlap hits him head-on rather than the side. Murphy is a decisive runner and will exploit narrow openings when they’re present. Take a second look and see how Murphy pulls the much larger Dunlap a couple extra yards. Murphy then finishes the play by spinning around to protect himself. Play 6The play pauses briefly to show that the front four of the Bengals is blocked well by the Buffalo offensive line. They’ve managed to create a pretty gigantic lane, and Murphyexplodes through it. Charles Clay is in as the lead blocker, negating Nick Vigil. Ultimately, a good play design and execution is beaten by a better design and execution. Strong safety Shawn Williams is coming in hot, and it’s one too many Bengals to block. Murphy is able to fall forward at least Youth LeSean McCoy Jerseys , but credit goes to the Bengals. Play 7LeSean McCoy likely bounces this one outside with a nice sidestep at speed and makes something off the left edge. It’s not necessarily going to be a big play, but something. Murphy’s decisiveness works against him as he plows right into the pile, going nowhere. Despite this pitfall, Murphy brings a nice skill set to the table. It’s looking like a safe bet that he finds himself as the third running back on the depth chart, at least, when the regular season starts.

When word broke Monday that the Giants were going to trade or release tackle Ereck Flowers Deandre Baker Jersey Draft , the trade option wasn’t taken too seriously given the $1.69 million Flowers was still set to make this season under the terms of his rookie deal with the Giants. That proved to be the right reaction as Flowers wound up on the waiver wire Tuesday. That contract would have moved to any team that claimed him off of waivers, so there’s equally little surprise to hear multiple reports that Flowers cleared waivers on Wednesday. At a lower price, there is reportedly interest in his services. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports multiple teams have reached out to Flowers and that he is set to visit the Jaguars on Thursday.Jaguars executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin was the Giants coach when Flowers was drafted in the first round of the 2015 draft and offensive line coach Pat Flaherty had the same job with the Giants for Flowers’ first two season Deandre Baker NFL Jersey , so there’s familiarity in Jacksonville.

Womens Adrian Clayborn Jersey , head coach Bill Belichick joins radio color commentator and ex-Patriots quarterback Scott Zolak for a film breakdown of the action. This week, the duo took a look at four pivotal plays from the team’s 25-6 victory over the Buffalo Bills — New England’s fifth victory in a row, and second straight on the road.1-10-BUF 33 (3:04) D.Anderson sacked at BUF 27 for -6 yards (K. Van Noy). FUMBLES (K. Van Noy) [K. Van Noy], RECOVERED by NE-P.Chung at BUF 29.Belichick and Zolak start the breakdown by looking at the game’s first turnover, a strip sack by linebacker Kyle Van Noy. “Just a good individual rush by Kyle,” Belichick saud about the play. “Good job getting off on the ball http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-james-white-jersey , and running a really tight corner.” The head coach also points out Patrick Chung, who recovers the fumble even though the Bills initially appeared to be in very good position to do that themselves. “Patrick, always alert, makes a good fumble recovery here.”3-15-NE 30 (6:09) (Shotgun) D.Anderson pass short right intended for C.Clay INTERCEPTED by D.McCourty at NE 16. D.McCourty for 84 yards, TOUCHDOWN.“Probably the play of the game,” Belichick said about Devin McCourty’s 84-yard pick-six in the fourth quarter. The head coach starts by looking at Patrick Chung Matthew Slater Jersey , who was in one-on-one coverage on tight end Charles Clay and giving him the inside leverage. “He allows himself to get beat inside knowing that he has help,” Belichick points out before turning his attention to McCourty. “Devin, first of all, reading the quarterback and as the ball’s delivered Devin gets a good jump on the ball.”1-10-NE 35 (2:12) (No Huddle, Shotgun) D.Anderson sacked at NE 47 for -12 yards (A.Clayborn).Belichick and Zolak continued breaking down the defensive side of the ball when looking at the next play, a 12-yard sack by Adrian Clayborn. “I thought we did a good job of finishing the game Womens Ryan Allen Jersey , playing good of defense, making a stop on downs there and being able to run out the clock,” Belichick said. New England’s head coach points out how Clayborn is able to get inside on the left tackle and how fellow defender John Simon was also getting into the backfield on a stunt on the opposite side of the formation.2-22-NE 47 (2:00) (Shotgun) D.Anderson sacked at BUF 43 for -10 yards (K.Van Noy). BUF-D.Anderson was injured during the play. Finally, Belichick and Zolak analyze Kyle Van Noy’s fourth-quarter sack that knocked quarterback Derek Anderson out of the game. “He does a nice job here of timing the blitz up,” Belichick said about the linebacker who again had a very good game. Belichick also praised the coverage down the field. “Nice way to end the game here with a big strong defensive effort.” The Patriots are accustomed to making adjustments. That was certainly their philosophy during their matchup with the Bills on Monday night.Down to just two healthy running backs on the roster with leading rusher and rookie Sony Michel inactive with a knee injury, New England started receiver Cordarrelle Patterson in the backfield in a move done more out of necessity than by design. While unusual http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-jason-mccourty-jersey , it didn't provide a lot of traction during a 25-6 victory in which Tom Brady was held without a passing touchdown and the offense was paced by Stephen Gostkowski's four field goals. But it might have been a glimpse at how creative the Patriots (6-2) are willing to be to keep alive a win streak that has grown to five games with a visit from Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night. This will be just the second meeting between Brady and Aaron Rodgers, with Rodgers winning the first matchup 26-21 in Green Bay in 2014.The two future Hall of Famers enter the rematch as the only active players with multiple Most Valuable Player awards (Brady three, Rodgers two).Green Bay is coming off a 29-27 loss to the unbeaten Rams and is just 3-3-1 on the season. But Brady said he is expecting to get the best from a player he considers to be "one of the best to ever play.""It's a big game for us," Brady said. "I mean, they're in it every year. ... So it'll be exciting and we're going to have to play really well. It's a quick turnaround."If Michel can return this week it would decrease the stress on Brady and the passing game. Michel has the Patriots' only 100-yard rushing games in 2018.But even if he's not ready to go, offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is confident they'll be able to adapt again if necessary. One of the reasons is the consistent production of James White. While primarily a receiving threat Kyle Van Noy Jersey , he can break runs out of the backfield. He had New England's lone rushing touchdown against the Bills."James is a very dependable guy. Whatever it is we ask of him, we count on him to do a lot of things, and he usually does those things very well," McDaniels said."It's good to have a lot of guys in your offense that can be counted on. ... He's always been a big contributor to what we're doing, and he's got a lot of teammates that try to do the same thing."

How did I rank them, you might ask? Good question! I stacked them up according to their scores as calculated by my genius formula — proven to be 100% accurate and 0% arbitrary!Players earned points for accomplishing any of the following while in a Jets uniform:50 points for a first team All-Pro appearance25 points for a Pro Bowl appearance1 point for each point of Approximate Value (via Pro Football Reference - a number that aims to calculate a player’s total value)0.5 points for each regular season game playedYesterday, I continued the rankings at #2 with Darrelle Revis. Let’s move up to the green and white throne at #1!#11 - Jerricho Cotchery (94.5 points)#10 - Sione Pouha (107 points)#9 - Laveranues Coles (110.5 points)#8 - Bryan Thomas (141.5 points)#7 - Muhammad Wilkerson (148.5 points)#6 - David Harris (174 points)#5 - John Abraham (208.5 points)#4 - D’Brickashaw Ferguson (224 points)#3 - Shaun Ellis (226 points)#2 - Darrelle Revis (413 points)#1 - NICK MANGOLD441 points: 84 approximate value (tied for third among all Jets draft picks since 2000), 164 regular season games played (second), seven Pro Bowl appearances, two first team All-Pro appearancesPhoto by Jim McIsaac/Getty ImagesBorn in Centerville, Ohio and attended high school in Kettering, OhioSelected 29th overall by the Jets in the first round of the 2006 Draft (Ohio State)Played entire career with Jets from 2006-16Fast facts (Stats are regular season only unless otherwise indicated)Mangold is tied for seventh in league history in Pro Bowl appearances by a center, with seven. He is also second in Pro Bowl appearances for the Jets, behind only Winston Hill, who was named to eight Pro Bowls.Weird fact: Mangold collected nine tackles in his career, making him the all-time Jets leader among offensive linemen. D’Brickashaw Ferguson is a close second with eight. Mangold checks in tied for 17th on the NFL’s all-time list for tackles among offensive linemen. The more you know!Over his final five seasons in the league (70 games), Mangold committed a shockingly low total of only four penalties. From 2012-16, he never committed more than one flag in a season. How good is that? In 2018, Spencer Long and Jonotthan Harrison combined for nine penalties at the center position! Mangold had 10 penalties over his final 100 regular season games! For his career, Mangold averaged only 1.95 total penalties per 16 games.Photo by Tom Berg/NFLPhotoLibraryPhoto by Rick Stewart/Getty ImagesPhoto by Jarrett Baker/Getty ImagesPhoto by Rick Stewart/Getty ImagesPhoto by Jonathan Daniel/Getty ImagesPhoto by Elsa/Getty ImagesPhoto by Christian Petersen/Getty ImagesPhoto by Jeff Zelevansky/Getty ImagesPhoto by Peter Aiken/Getty ImagesPhoto by Thomas B. I don’t typically watch every game of every season in All-22 and therefore it’s pretty difficult to tell you exactly what I think about each signing. There are team-building strategies to consider, however, and with that in mind, there’s a lot to like about how the Jets have worked the free agency thus far. For contrast, I’d like to look all the way back to 2015. Way back in this forgotten time when things were simple, the Jets were in an extremely similar position. The team was being led by a third year QB and were among the top 3 in cap space after their 4-12 season. The team was seriously lacking in talent, but had a mountain of cap space and plenty of high draft picks due to their 4-12 record. The free agency period went in a very different direction, however. In 2015, Maccagnan signed, re-signed, or traded for a list of players that included (among others) Brandon Marshall, Buster Skrine, David Harris, Darrelle Revis, James Carpenter, Antonio Cromartie, Marcus Gilchrist, Stephen Bowen, Kellen Davis, and Stephen Ridley. Four seasons later and not one of those players figures to play for the Jets. Of those signings, the biggest deals went to guys on the back nine of their career or worse. David Harris Womens Blake Cashman Jersey , Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie, and Brandon Marshall got a combined $149.5M, and none of them were Jets two years later. In fact, only Buster Skrine and James Carpenter made it through 2018, and neither was a really positive contributor by that point. Thus far in 2019, the Jets have targeted Le’Veon Bell, C.J. Mosley, Anthony Barr (despite his departure, he was a player the Jets clearly coveted), Kelechi Osemele, and Jamison Crowder.Right now, those players are 27, 26, 26, 29, and 25 years old, respectively. The oldest player on that list, Kelechi Osemele, plays a position with a long shelf life, unlike the cornerbacks and wide receiver the Jets added in 2015. While I’m not completely sure how I feel about a lot of these additions Authentic Blake Cashman Jersey , I do approve of the strategy of adding young players that should be around for several years. Despite all of this spending, the Jets have boasted only 1 Pro Bowl starter and 1 All Pro player over the last three years in Jamal Adams this season (not counting special teams or alternates.) The combination of Bell, Mosley, and Osemele alone counts for 2 first team All Pros, 3 second team All Pros, and 7 Pro Bowl appearances (even without Bell playing last year and Barr sticking with the Vikes) over that same span. Whether or not I like all the choices, I have to admit that the Jets have added a lot of young talent. In 2015, the Jets bounced back from a 4-12 team to narrowly missing the playoffs at 10-6. It was an exciting season to watch, but the team was sorely lacking in young talent and crashed back to earth with 3 straight seasons without a 6th win, finishing dead last in the AFC East each time. The spending spree mirrored the Giants in 2016, jumping from 6 wins to 11 due to the additions of many free agent acquisitions. In the last two years, they’ve compiled 8 total wins and have one of the weakest rosters coming into 2019 despite a tricky cap situation in which they will pay a single player $16M to play for another team this year alone. There are myriad similar free agency examples of this type of team building that I won’t get into, but to make a long story short, you can’t build consistency through free agency. It’s a good tool for augmenting a good team with aging veterans or adding the occasional overpriced young stud, but long-term success is built through the draft. If you fail there, you have to do what you can with the piles of cap space you will inevitably have to use. If you’re a 0-5 win team, you’re probably not going to be a Super Bowl contender next year and your best chance is to buy high on guys who will be around by the time the team could make a push. The Jets paid big money to guys near retirement in 2015 and I was disappointed that they couldn’t accept that the Jets needed a full reboot. While I’m still far from sold on risky signings like Bell, I’m glad the Jets haven’t fallen into the same hole this year as in 2015.

Jets QB Davis Webb looked like a practice squad project in preseason

As you probably know Authentic Chuma Edoga Jersey , the Jets have a new developmental quarterback. Davis Webb was a third round pick of the Giants just last year. He was surprisingly waived last weekend and went unclaimed. The Jets signed him to their practice squad earlier in the week.I found myself curious about this situation. It isn’t every day that a team gives up on a day two pick after just one season. Even Christian Hackenberg got two seasons to try and prove he was worth something. Some Giants fans suggested this move was a power move by new general manager Dave Gettleman. Webb was drafted by the old general manager. Gettleman selected his own developmental quarterback this year, Kyle Lauletta. That made Webb obsolete for reasons that went beyond merit. Things like this do happen in the NFL. It wouldn’t be the first time a general manager made a move based on ego. Still, something didn’t seem right. Almost every team in the NFL is looking for talent at the quarterback position. Surely it reasoned that some team would be willing to give up a late round pick for somebody with potential at the most important position on the field. Webb was a third round pick just last year after all. The Giants ended up cutting him, however, indicating there was no trade interest.Even more strikingly, every other team then had a chance to claim Webb off waivers, acquiring him for nothing. Nobody did. Even though he was a guy who seemed to have potential on paper, not a single one of the 32 teams in the league was willing to offer him a spot on the 53 man roster. He ended up settling for a practice squad spot instead.I wanted to get to the bottom of this. The first place I looked was at Webb’s preseason stats, and boy they were ugly. Webb only completed 52.8% of his passes and averaged 5.3 yards per attempt. That’s brutal. Still, stats at the quarterback position don’t tell the whole story. Sam Darnold’s efficiency was just a hair better at 5.4 yards per attempt in the 2018 preseason. Yet when you went play by play with Darnold, there was a competency that the numbers didn’t show. Was Webb the victim of a similar misfortune? I decided to take a look at his preseason passing attempts. After doing that, I came to a simply conclusion. Webb is an enormous project who has a very, very long way to go if he ever wants to find success on the NFL level. He has a remedial grasp of some very basic elements of the quarterback position. Maybe Gettleman was influenced a bit by not wanting somebody else’s project on his team, but Webb made the decision easy by showing so little promise in the preseason.I’ll spare you being forced to watch all of the snaps Chuma Edoga Jersey Boys , but I will take you through a few of the major issues I saw.Pocket CommandWebb has a pretty clean pocket on this play. There’s plenty of room for him to step up in the pocket.Instead he bails on the pocket for no reason and runs himself right into defenders who would been pushed out of the way had he hung tough. His pocket panic leads to a sack. Here you’ll see pressure off the edge, but Webb once again has plenty of room to step up in the pocket to try and find something down the field. Instead he sees pressure and dumps it off for a minimal gain. AccuracyA 52.8% completion percentage is ugly and indicative of extreme inaccuracy. To be certain, there were a number of open receivers whom Webb targeted with wildly inaccurate throws that fell incomplete. I could put together a video of Hackenbergian UFO’s from Webb’s 2018 preseason. But I want to point out something else. Poor accuracy doesn’t just lead to incompletions. It also leads to completions producing less than they should.Take this play near the end of the first half. The Giants were in field goal range and out of timeouts. They were looking for a quick completion to the sideline to get a little bit closer and stop the clock. Webb hits the pass, but it is not a well-placed football. The receiver has to slow down to adjust to it because the ball is a little behind him. This allowed a defender to get to him to make a tackle, which ran out the clock. If Webb’s pass had led the receiver, he could have caught it in stride and easily made it to the sideline to preserve the field goal attempt. This inaccurate throw led to a completion, but it cost the Giants a shot at three points. On this third down play, wide receiver Kalif Raymond wins and gets inside of the cornerback covering him. With a step on the cornerback, an accurate throw that led Raymond and hit him in stride probably would allow him to get to the sticks for a first down. Instead we again see a throw behind the receiver, which again gives the defender time to catch up and make the tackle. The placement is the difference between a fresh set of downs and a punt.Making ReadsOn this play, the Lions show a look presnap that suggests they will be in Cover 2 with a pair of defenders deep and five defenders in underneath zone. With three receivers lined up on the bottom of the picture and two defenders, Webb believes he will have the yellow guy open. However, after the snap the Lions roll into a Cover 3 with the two outside corners dropping into a deep zone and one of the safeties driving on the route Webb is looking at.Webb is fooled, and the result is an incompletion. That one isn’t necessarily the end of the world. A young quarterback is going to get fooled presnap by a disguised look a defense throws at him from time to time.Let’s look at another situation. This play call gives Webb a really simple read. Where he goes with the ball is determined by what the cornerback does in zone coverage. If the corner drives on the short route Infant Chuma Edoga Jersey , the deeper receiver will be open.If he drops deep, the short pass will be open in the flat. The underneath receiver is obscured a bit by the graphic, but the corner here is clearly dropping to take the deep route.Webb ends up trying to force this ball into an impossibly tight window. The underneath guy was open. Mind you this was a first down play, and the Giants still had all three timeouts in the two minute drill. There wasn’t anything dictating that trying to force the deep ball was the right decision. The Surprising ConclusionBy now you are probably thinking that I don’t want Webb.I will be honest. Based on what I have seen, I think it is unlikely Webb will even amount to a decent NFL backup. I would say he is a pile of raw physical tools with very few of the necessarily skills to succeed at the quarterback position in the league developed. He also hasn’t shown much growth between last season and now, which is how you go from third round pick to practice squad so quickly. But that doesn’t mean I am against the addition of Webb to the practice squad at all. Webb might be a pile of raw physical tools, but a practice squad spot is the right investment for players of that profile. The purpose of the practice squad is to try and develop players with those raw tools, understanding it is probably a long-shot in most situations. It is a terrible idea to invest an early round Draft pick in a player like this the way the Giants did (or the way the Jets did with Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg). Even though the Jets are paying Webb more than your typical practice squader, they have nothing to lose with this addition. They can walk away easily if Webb does not pan out. If he beats the odds andshows a surprising ability to develop, they could end up with a backup quarterback. I don’t need to explain how valuable that would be.It just should be noted that “project practice squader” is a more apt description for Webb at this point than “third round prospect.” NEW YORK (AP) — Todd Bowles is concerned about only one thing regarding his future with the New York Jets: the team's next opponent.Despite all the rumors and expectations that the game Sunday at New England will be his last as coach of the franchise, Bowles refuses to publicly fuel any of the speculation that has seemed like an inevitable ending for weeks."I do not talk about my job," Bowles said during a conference call Monday. Plenty of other people do that for him, of course, with many fans and media already preparing for a coaching search and throwing out potential replacements for Bowles. Pro Football Talk reported Sunday night Chuma Edoga Jersey Draft , citing an anonymous source, that the Jets plan to pursue Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh. Bowles said he had no response to the report, but the team issued a statement from acting chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson denying it."Todd Bowles is our head coach," Johnson said in the statement. "There is no truth to the report of our interest in Jim Harbaugh."That, of course, doesn't mean Bowles will, in fact, remain the coach moving forward. The Jets also might know the reality is Harbaugh has made it clear he intends to remain with the Wolverines.Harbaugh's brother John, another name mentioned in speculation and rumors, will also not be on New York's list after Baltimore announced last week it will sign him to a contract extension.Former Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy has been a much-discussed option on sports radio and social media, and there will be plenty more names to consider over the next several days.Bowles remaining with the Jets, however, does not seem likely. He is about to finish his fourth season — all without a playoff appearance — and has a 24-39 overall record, including a 44-38 overtime loss to the Packers on Sunday."Personally Chuma Edoga NFL Jersey , I do not speak about my next job," Bowles said. "I worry about tomorrow and when Christmas comes, and I worry about New England on Sunday and I go from there."That's not just lip service from Bowles, who has always been reserved about his private life and his job status since being hired by the Jets in 2015 to replace the fired Rex Ryan. Bowles has insisted on keeping the focus on his players, and not letting the outside chatter affect anyone inside his locker room."That's my only job," the 55-year-old Bowles told The Associated Press in a recent interview. "Nothing else matters. They're younger and they haven't been through anything like this, so it's up to me to make sure we approach it the right way and learn the things we need to learn, and it gets navigated the right way, and that's my only job."There's nothing else to really lose sleep over."To a man, the players have said Bowles has not strayed from that approach. They have praised his ability, despite all the swirling speculation, to not let any of it affect his preparation."I can say that our minds and our focus is on the Patriots coming up this week," left tackle Kelvin Beachum said. "We can't worry about things going on outside our building. I think more guys are focused on making sure that they're spending time with their families for Christmas. We don't have time to really look at what the media has to say about what's going on."At the end of the day, it's about this organization Chuma Edoga NFL Draft , about these players in this building."When asked what Bowles has to say about it, Beachum said the coach has said nothing regarding his future."He's got us focused on the Patriots," Beachum said. "That's not something that is on top of mind right now. What's on top of mind is finding a way to close out games. We'll handle the rest when the season is over."NOTES: After blasting officials for calling so many penalties on his team, included 16 accepted for a franchise-record 172 yards, Bowles said he had nothing more to add. "I said what I said, I meant everything I said," Bowles said. "I'm done with it." … Bowles said WR Jermaine Kearse injured an Achilles tendon and was going for X-rays. He had four catches for 55 yards before leaving against Green Bay. … WR Quincy Enunwa appears likely to end the season having missed the final three games with an ankle injury. When asked about Enunwa's chances of playing at New England, Bowles said: "Slim. I haven't talked to him yet, but I would say slim." … Beachum and his family were treating people to lunch in his hometown of Mexia, Texas, to celebrate Christmas. Although Beachum can't join them, he invited residents to stop by a local chicken and catfish eatery for a meal "to show holiday love to my hometown."

Womens Adam Butler Jersey , but he wasn’t wearing a walking boot on his injured right foot either. And that has him leaving the door open for Sunday’s game against the Patriots, even if the Jets might prefer to take a more cautious approach.“I think the idea of going up against him and the Patriots, coach Belichick and all those guys, it’s a cool thing, especially with me growing up in the era where they really controlled the whole NFL, for the most part,” Darnold said, via Rich Cimini of ESPN.com. “It would be really cool if I have the opportunity.”Darnold said he had started jogging, and was encouraged about his condition.“It feels good. It feels great,” Darnold said. “Nothing for me to complain about. No pain, either. . . . The foot is really good. I feel really good. Like I said last week, I’m just following protocol right now.”Coach Todd Bowles deployed the rare double-obfuscation when asked about Darnold’s status, referring to him as “day-to-day, week-to-week.” Until they practice Wednesday, it’s hard to tell which direction that cryptic diagnosis is pointing for the rookie quarterback, especially with the Jets at 3-7 and losers of four straight.Things weren’t great with him in there, as Darnold threw seven interceptions in his previous three games. But they were worse last week http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-mike-gillislee-jersey , with backup Josh McCown throwing two picks and gaining just 135 yards in an embarrassing loss to the Bills. Wait, what?"In 2019, the New England Patriots offense scored the sixth most points in the NFL: not counting defensive or special teams scores, the unit averaged 25.5 points per game over the regular season (a number that jumped to 30.3 in the playoffs). Despite some inconsistency along the way, the unit was still among the best and most balanced in all of football. Since leading the club to the Super Bowl, however, it lost some key characters. The biggest name on the list of Patriots offseason departures is undoubtably Rob Gronkowski, who decided to retire in March. Furthermore, starting left tackle Trent Brown and wide receivers Chris Hogan and Cordarrelle Patterson left in free agency. Blocking tight end Dwayne Allen was cut. While New England did add some outside reinforcements through the draft and free agency, projecting the unit entering 2019 is no easy thing to do.One thing seems like a foregone conclusion, though: it will be among the better groups in the NFL yet again based on its track record, still-existing quality and depth at multiple positions, and because two of its main men are still in place in quarterback Tom Brady and coordinator Josh McDaniels. And yet, not all are apparently convinced that New England will reach its past levels of offensive production in a post-Gronkowski era.Take NFL.com’s Chris Wesseling, who recently published his list of the ten best offenses in the league. The world champions are its biggest omission, based on the personnel turnover it saw since the final whistle was blown in the NFL’s title game. Despite that, an argument can still be made to include the Patriots’ unit ahead of lower-ranked ones on the list like the Green Bay Packers’ or the Pittsburgh Steelers’. And make it we will.Using Wesseling’s methodology James Develin Jersey , the unit gets broken down in position groups and subsequently graded. The top offense on his list — the New Orleans Saints’ — earns an A- for its backfield as well as B+ grades at quarterback, receiving corps, and offensive line. For comparison, the tenth ranked Packers were handed an A at quarterback, a B+ at offensive line, a B at receiving corps, and a B- for the backfield. While subjective, of course, the Patriots could be broken down as follows:Quarterback: ABackfield: A-Receiving corps: C-Offensive line: B+The one grade that jumps off the page, and a group that is likely the reason why Wesseling left New England off his top-10 list altogether, is the receiving corps: when Gronkowski announced his retirement, the team lost its top pass-catching threat — one that cannot be replaced by just one player. That being said, there is still some talent on a unit that is currently being led by reigning Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman.First-round pick N’Keal Harry is a physical, high-upside addition possibly able to contribute from day one. Phillip Dorsett has experience in the system as a rotational number three receiver. And free agency signing Demaryius Thomas should still have at least one productive season in him as well. The biggest hole is at tight end, where Matt LaCosse, Austin Seferian-Jenkins and recently added Benjamin Watson are contenders for the top receiving role — not exactly an awe-inspiring trio, though.Nevertheless Womens LaAdrian Waddle Jersey , the group does have sufficient depth across the board and could improve its grade significantly if Harry (or another offseason acquisition) integrates well and quickly into the unit, and/or Josh Gordon returns from his indefinite suspension. The upside is certainly there, especially considering that Josh McDaniels is among the best offensive coordinators in the game at putting his players in a position to succeed. What helps him do that is the strength of the other units: Tom Brady and his backups are as good a quarterback group as you’ll find in the NFL, the backfield features an intriguing mix of running and pass-catching ability, and the offensive line projects to be among the league’s better ones yet again despite some current questions at the left tackle spot — call it the Dante Scarnecchia effect. The coaching staff in general, while not part of Wesseling’s breakdown, cannot be left out of the equation either. Even though it also saw some departures over the last few months, New England still has the league’s premier offensive staff with McDaniels, Scarnecchia and running backs coach Ivan Fears all atop their profession. Add the fact that Bill Belichick and Ernie Adams are also involved, and you’ll get a group that knows how to take the talent it has and mold it into a productive unit. The Patriots have done just that ever since the emergency of Tom Brady in the early 2000s — and it would, frankly, be an enormous surprise if they failed to do the same in 2019. What would not be surprising, however, is if some of those grades looked markedly better late during the year, and if New England’s offense once again was among the best in the league.

Kareem Martin Jerseys 2019 , but it seems safety Landon Collins‘ season is over due to a shoulder injury.Head coach Pat Shurmur said on Wednesday that Collins will most likely have surgery while Josina Anderson of ESPN reported that the decision to put him on injured reserve has already been made. That surgery would lead to an extended recovery period for Collins and the timing isn’t great because he’s set for free agency this offseason.Collins didn’t let that stop him from returning to last Sunday’s game against the Bears after he was injured and his teammates said they appreciate that Collins did that. Safety Michael Thomas said Collins is always “going to leave it all out there on the field” and cornerback Janoris Jenkins said that business never got in the way of football.“It just showed me that he loves football,” Jenkins said, via the . “He wanted to be here, he was ready to play. … You always appreciate guys coming back, knowing that it鈥檚 their contract year. He just came out and played.”The Giants can use the franchise or transition tag to increase their chances of holding onto Collins in the event they want him back and can’t work out an extension. If they don’t go either of those routes, Collins will be free to talk to every other team in the league come March 11. Good morning, everyone! We’re in to the final quarter of the 2018 regular season and while the New York Giants are still mathematically alive in the playoff hunt Youth Kyle Lauletta Jerseys , their odds of playing after Week 17 are slim and trending towards “none.”Their odds of landing one of the first 10 selections, however, are still strong. That means that it is much more “draft season” for Giants fans than “stretch run” season. And as it so happens, ESPN’s Todd McShay has released his first mock draft in advance of the 2019 NFL Draft. Since it is Insider content, we’ll bring you the Giants’ pick:Raptor’s Thoughts: First off, McShay does have Justin Herbert in his mock, going seventh overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Moving on Kyle Lauletta Jerseys Stitched , I am of two minds about this pick. On one hand, Haskins has played well this season. He is the rare Urban Meyer QB who is primarily a pocket passer (he definitely isn’t a statue, though), and he has largely been efficient running Ohio State’s offense. Over the last quarter, or so, of the college season he was legitimately excellent. Haskins has enough mobility to navigate the pocket and extend plays, with all the arm strength you could ask for to challenge the Meadowlands’ winds. His decision making has been sound and he has solid accuracy to all levels of the field. Haskins has just about everything you could want from a quarterback prospect from a tools perspective. But on the other hand Corey Ballentine Jersey Boys , he is a red-shirt sophomore and while he has had a season that put him in the Heisman conversation ... that’s the extent of his resume. For myself, personally, quarterback the one position where I always weigh age and being an upper-classman as being marks in their favor. Normally they’re neutral at best, and for players premier positions with an athletic premium, younger is usually better. But at quarterback, having those extra two or three years of experience and mental maturity (literally, the brain does not stop maturing until after the usual age of college graduation) White Cody Latimer Jerseys , are a massive positive for me. Sure, getting him as a red-shirt sophomore means that the Giants will have him in-house and learning behind Eli Manning (with whom he already has a relationship from the Manning Passing Academy). But that isn’t the same as playing games, seeing defenses first hand, and making decisions in the moment. And then on the third hand (okay, my name isn’t Zaphod, so we’ll just juggle ideas here) having a young quarterback on a rookie deal is an incredible advantage for the team. Even with the salary cap pushing toward $200 million in the coming years, the Giants will need the extra cap flexibility that having a QB on a rookie deal provides as they work to re-sign players like Sterling Shepard Youth Evan Engram Jerseys , Dalvin Tomlinson, Saquon Barkley, and potentially Sam Beal. So then, what do you think of selecting Dwayne Haskins if he does indeed declare for the draft and falls to the Giants’ pick?
