time is up in Miami after this season and the first quarter of Week 17 isn’t doing anything to suggest there would be a change of heart.Tannehill has thrown interceptions on each of the first two Dolphins drives and the Bills have a 14-0 lead with over four minutes to play in the first quarter of Sunday’s game. Bills first-round linebacker Tremaine Edmunds had the first pick and last year’s first-rounder Tre'Davious White got the second on a throw to the sideline. The Bills scored one play after the Edmunds pick when quarterback Josh Allen hit wide receiver Zay Jones for an 18-yard touchdown. Allen set up the first score by hanging in the pocket long enough to find Chris Ivory for a 46-yard gain and then scored on a sneak.Defensive tackle Kyle Williams was in on fullback for that sneak Youth Ed Oliver Jersey , which delighted the Buffalo crowd and offered a reminder that Williams has a rushing touchdown in his past. With Williams retiring after Sunday’s game, another goal-line opportunity could allow him a chance at No. 2.At the rate Tannehill is going, that’s nothing to rule out. If the Bills intend to trade up, Q should be their target."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections NewsNotesOpinionAnalysisDiscussionPodcastNFL DraftSalary CapNFL DraftAnalysisScouting ReportsQuinnen Williams film analysis: The best defensive lineman in the draftNew,22commentsIf the Bills intend to trade up, Q should be their target.EDTShareTweetShareShareQuinnen Williams film analysis: The best defensive lineman in the draftWe’ve spent a few weeks breaking down the potential picks for the Buffalo Bills at ninth overall, but what if the Bills are interested in reaching higher for their first-round pick? One player in this draft class seemingly fits the measurement thresholds, production, and traits that are exactly what this defensive unit is missing. How does he hold up under the microscope? Today in the film room Womens Ed Oliver Jersey , let’s look at Quinnen Williams—the defensive tackle from Alabama.Williams is, overall, a great athlete for a defensive tackle, as his 4.83 40-yard dash indicated. He’s not in the same league as Ed Oliver and Aaron Donald, who are the definition of “freak” athletes, but his athletic gifts stand out nonetheless. This is a player who has extra opportunities for impact plays because of his speed and strength. What immediately stood out to me when watching Williams is that he always knows where the ball is. Misdirection doesn’t fool him, and neither does a moving pocket. But he’s not just aware of where the play is going; he is also acutely aware of what the best angle of attack will be. I frequently saw Williams set up a two-way read for the running back, hold back the offensive lineman, and make the tackle where the running back headed. He was able to do this because he’s so dang strong.Maybe not in the sense of a bulldozer who drags linemen out of the way Men Ed Oliver Jerseys , but more as an immovable boulder. Both his upper body and his core were strong enough to control a single lineman and hold his ground against a double team. I didn’t see many plays where he outright collapsed the pocket with a bull rush, but I think that’s due to the number of double teams he faced. Regardless, this is a player who will control the line of scrimmage in the NFL.When Williams hits a player with a punch, he’s knocking them onto their heels. He also has a solid array of pass-rushing moves to work with. I saw a nice hump move, a rip, and a spin used as a secondary effort. However, by far his favorite move was the swim (arm-over). He outright steals the souls of linemen with that move. He runs it extremely cleanly, and it’s a great match for his speed and power. It’s his top technique for splitting double teams.Williams plays with excellent pad level. He’s usually the low man on each play. That attention to detail (along with his great pass-rushing moves) speaks volumes about his work ethic and the quality of coaching he received. Also highlighting that are his performances as the season went on as he faced tougher competition. In the second half of the season, Williams had 11 of his 19.5 TFLs and 6.5 of his 8 sacks. When playing top-25 teams Ed Oliver NFL Draft , Williams had 7 TFLs and 3.5 sacks (in five games).Williams may have emerged from obscurity at Alabama’s defender factory (as obscure as a four-star recruit could be), but by the end of his redshirt sophomore season there was no doubt that he was the best player on the defense. He may not be an elite athlete, but he’s still a very good one—and the level of technical polish (and advanced mental game) he displayed is extraordinary for such a young player.Williams has traits that would allow him to excel as either a nose tackle or a three-technique disruptor tackle. In the Buffalo Bills’ rotation-heavy 4-3 scheme, he’d be uniquely valuable. It’s fair to consider that he might be the top player on Buffalo’s board, and that they might be willing to trade up for him in the right scenario. Not to mention, he’d fill the team’s missing Williams quotient in more ways than one.

The Patriots lock down a bye in the first round of the playoffs

and keep their hopes of drawing the top seed in the AFC alive with a win over the Jets on Sunday Kendarius Webster Jersey NFL Jersey , but they’ll have to do it without Cordarrelle Patterson. The wide receiver/running back/kick returner was listed as questionable on Friday because of a knee injury and was on the inactive list the team submitted 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday.Patterson has been a useful piece for the Patriots offense in his first season in New England. He’s caught 21 passes for 247 yards, run 42 times for 228 yards and averaged 28.8 yards per kickoff return while scoring five touchdowns overall.Tight end Dwayne Allen, tackle LaAdrian Waddle and linebacker Brandon King are in the lineup after joining Patterson in the questionable category. The New England Patriots entered the postseason in dominant fashion. The team blew past the visiting Los Angeles Chargers with a score of 41-28 and was in control from start to finish, despite L.A. adding some points late in the fourth quarter. It was a statement win and the Patriots’ best of the season. Let’s take a look at those who stood out during Sunday’s contest, for better or worse.Winner: QB Tom BradyReportedly fully healed from a sprained MCL suffered in week 10, Tom Brady played an outstanding game against a good Chargers defense — proving that he is still a force to be reckoned with. The 41-year old was in a rhythm from start to finish, spread the football around well, and made tremendous decisions while completing 34 of 44 pass attempts for 343 yards and a touchdown. It was a vintage Brady performance.Winner: The coaching staffNew England came out perfectly prepared for an opponent that actually won more games during the regular season than the Patriots. While the players and their execution deserve plenty of praise Kendarius Webster Jersey NFL Draft , so does the coaching staff. The offense was unstoppable and up four scores before the Chargers even knew what hit them, the defense creatively pressured Philip Rivers all day, and the special teams eliminated the big play return threat. In the playoffs, coaching can very well be the difference and New England still is best in that category.Winner: WR Julian EdelmanIn his first playoff game since Super Bowl 51, Julian Edelman was outstanding. The veteran wide receiver was New England’s top downfield receiving threat and finished the day with nine catches for a team-high (and personal season-high) 151 yards. While Los Angeles attempted to defend the Patriots by using speed in their secondary, the team had no answer to the shifty Edelman.Winner: DE Trey FlowersIn what might have been his last game at Gillette Stadium — he is scheduled to become a free agent in two months — Trey Flowers showed why he is the Patriots’ best front seven defender. The 25-year old dominated at the point of attack and was a big reason why the Chargers’ passing offense never got in a rhythm by consistently moving people or getting into the backfield on stunts. All in all, Flowers registered a sack, a tackle for loss Kendarius Webster Jersey Buffalo Bills Jersey , and two quarterback hits.Winner: RB Sony MichelThe rookie’s first playoff game was a highly successful one. Not only did Sony Michel find the end zone three times, he also dominated the rest of the way. Running behind an excellent offensive line — more on that later — the first-round draft selection gained 129 yards on 24 carries and helped the Patriots control the flow of the game from the get-go. Michel showed burst, tremendous vision, and speed in the open field.Winner: DT Adam ButlerWhile the stat sheet has him with just one tackle and one quarterback hit, it does not tell the whole story of Adam Butler’s game. The second-year man led all Patriots defensive tackles in playing time and was very good at challenging the interior of the Chargers’ offensive line, and opening up things for those around him. New England’s coaching staff trusted Butler to perform despite the high volume of snaps, and he delivered.Loser: Team disciplineIf there is one blemish — and yes, it is nit-picking — coming out of yesterday’s game it is the Patriots’ relatively high number of penalties. Referee Ron Torbert flagged the team nine times on the day Color Rush Kendarius Webster Jersey , resulting in a loss of 75 yards. Of course, New England was up from the start so the penalties did not hurt that much but they still negated two big plays. The Patriots need to work on this moving into the Kansas City Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium next week.Winner: The offensive lineThe Chargers have one of the best defensive lines in the NFL and the Patriots dominated them at will. In run blocking, Dante Scarnecchia’s unit paved the way for 156 yards on 32 non-kneel down carries — a very good 4.9 yards per run — while it also kept Tom Brady pretty much clean for the day: while he was hit twice, the quarterback was not sacked even once. Star pass rushers Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa were a non-factor, and the Patriots’ blockers up front were a big reason for that.Winner: The lead blockers (Rob Gronkowski, Dwayne Allen, James Develin)Some of the praise for the Patriots’ impressive outing in the trenches has to go to the lead blockers as well — they had a very good day. Dwayne Allen and James Develin were their usual solid selves in rotational roles, while Rob Gronkowski stood out in particular. On multiple occasions he sealed the edge in the run game Youth Kendarius Webster Jersey , took on pass rushers, and showed why he is still an excellent player in this part of the day. Even though he finished with just one 25-yard catch, Gronkowski was one of the best players on the field yesterday.Winner: LB Dont’a HightowerDont’a Hightower’s 2018 campaign started inconsistently, but the veteran has since grown into the player the Patriots re-signed on a four-year, $35.5 million contract two years ago — and he was at his best on Sunday. The 28-year old was active as a pass rusher, communicated well from the heart of the defense, and also was a major factor in limiting the impact of Los Angeles’ dangerous running back duo. In his first playoff game since Super Bowl 51, Hightower showed that he is still capable of making game-changing plays.Winner: RB James WhiteDuring last year’s regular season meeting Womens Kendarius Webster Jersey , the Chargers had no answer for James White as a pass catcher. Yesterday was more of the same, as the 26-year old had a dominant performance as Tom Brady’s number one target: the quarterback threw 17 passes towards him, with the back catching 15 of them — tying an NFL postseason record — for 97 yards. White being an option in the short passing game helped negate the pass rush and New England to establish an offensive rhythm from the start on.

The Jets haven’t asked for my input on their coaching search

http://www.jetslockerroom.com/authentic-quincy-enunwa-jersey , but there are some things I’d like to see in Todd Bowles’ replacement and the search process.Be open to new ways of thinking.A lot of football coaches get very set in their ways and are resistant to changes in the game. This is to their detriment. Any coach who says things like, “A smashmouth run game is the best way to win,” “Gimmicky college offenses won’t work in the NFL,” or “Stats only work in baseball,” is not the kind of coach I want.Times change, and those who don’t adapt are left behind. The next coach of the Jets should be open to innovation and be willing to use data to his advantage. I want somebody at the cutting edge of offensive innovations. I want somebody who aggressive going for fourth downs and two point conversions because the numbers show how smart it is.This doesn’t mean the search should be limited to young candidates. There’s nothing to prevent an older candidate from being open-minded. Bill Belichick is 66 years old and is one of the most innovative coaches in the league.Build a coaching staff diverse in experience. As stated above I want fresh thinking, but that doesn’t mean we throw out every single piece of conventional wisdom. We should only throw out the outdated stuff that no longer makes sense. With that in mind Trenton Cannon Jersey , I want a coaching staff with a mix of backgrounds. If the choice is an experienced NFL hand like Mike McCarthy, I’d like for him to bring in some people with a fresh perspective. Leave Joe Phibin, Ben McAdoo, and McAdoo’s slicked back hair behind. A few hires from the college ranks who come from innovative offensive backgrounds might be just want he needs.Somebody less experienced, such as Matt Rhule should have at least one (and ideally more than one) former head coach on his staff to help guide him through the pitfalls of running an NFL team along with some veteran position coaches.I want the right balance of new ideas and the type of wisdom that can only come from experience.Have a plan for everything, not just offense.I keep seeing people push the idea that the Jets should hire an offensive guru as their head coach. The thinking goes that the worst case scenario is the team losing but Sam Darnold developing.Wrong! The worst case scenario is that the Jets will have blown their biggest Super Bowl window in decades. The next three years are critical for this franchise. Darnold is still on his rookie deal. That means the Jets can get quality quarterback play and still have a full assortment of salary cap space to stock their entire roster. This hire will determine whether the Jets take advantage of this once in a decade opportunity. Those are high stakes.Yes, having a plan on offense is critical. Yes Womens Jordan Jenkins Jersey , this coach will be tasked with developing Darnold. The other parts of the team matter too. People point to Sean McVay and Matt Nagy as examples of what can happen when a team hires a strong offensive mind. It is easy to forget that they both made very strong coordinator hires on the other side of the ball immediately upon being hired.Being a good offensive mind simply isn’t enough. Don’t make me read you the list of good offensive coordinators who were lousy head coaches. You don’t have the time to sit through that. The right head coach will have a strong plan for offense. He will also have a strong plan for defense. And a strong plan for special teams. And know how to build a quality staff. And understand how to gain the respect of a locker room, deal with problems, manage a game, and a lot of other things that separate the good head coaches from the bad head coaches.Past failures can be forgiven...on one condition.Bill Belichick is the best coach in the NFL. One might argue he is the greatest coach the league has ever seen. (I wouldn’t, but also I wouldn’t laugh at you if you told me you did.)Belichick failed in his first NFL head coaching job and was fired.Failure is part of life. Sometimes failure makes us better because we learn from it.That is the important thing. I don’t care if a coach has a bad track record. If he can figure out why things didn’t work in a previous stop and how he will do things better next time, he has my attention.Through this process, you might have noticed how skeptical I have been of Kliff Kingsbury’s candidacy.I’m not sure a few months of distance is enough time for a relatively inexperienced coach like Kingsbury to figure out why his defenses were bad at Texas Tech http://www.jetslockerroom.com/authentic-ladainian-tomlinson-jersey , why his assistant hires were so shaky, why his teams were undisciplined, and why he had a losing record even when he had the guy who might be this year’s NFL MVP playing quarterback for him.But if he actually has a compelling answer and has figured out how he will do better coaching at a higher level one year later, I’m all ears.Hype doesn’t matter.A lot of the immediate opinions on coaching hires come from media hype. Just think about how many coaches were hyped by the media when they were hired and ultimately failed. On the flip side, Doug Pederson was once called the least qualified man in recent history to be hired as a head coach. He’s worked out just fine.Any celebration or frustration the day a coach is hired will be temporary. Future job performance is much more relevant. If the Jets were to hire Kliff Kingsbury, I imagine a ton of hype would follow. He has built exciting offense and has movie star good looks. But if he hasn’t learned from those failures, the buzz will be short-lived. Eric Bieniemy was the first name on the Jets coaching candidate list. The second is Cowboys assistant coach Kris Richard.Richard is in his first season with Dallas. His work with the Cowboys’ defense has received widespread acclaim. He has been given a lot of credit for the unit’s success.Prior to coming to the Cowboys Robby Anderson Jersey , Richard spent eight years working under Pete Carroll with the Seahawks. He rose from assistant defensive backs coach to defensive backs coach to defensive coordinator. He was the position coach in the secondary as the Legion of Boom emerged. There were briefly rumors about him joining the Jets coaching staff in 2014, but nothing materialized.I don’t expect Richard to be a popular candidate in the fanbase immediately. The Jets have hired four straight first time head coaches with defensive backgrounds. I actually decided against doing a Coaching Candidate of the Day profile for him simply because of how unpopular I thought it would be.With that said, I think Richard is a good coach and has earned a chance to sell a vision as a head coach. I would urge everybody to keep an open mind. Just because a coach has a defensive background doesn’t necessarily mean he lacks an offensive vision.

It will be fun to go back and look at these picks head to head in a couple of years.Round 1:My pick: Edge, Josh Allen, KentuckyMacc’s pick: IDL, Quinnen Williams, AlabamaChoosing between the best player and the draft and the player I think is best for us was horrible. In the end I sided with the pick that I believe has a better chance of being more productive despite not having the highest floor. That might not make much sense, but hear me out. The edge group has few elites and then gradually descends to the 2nd tier. In 2018, only 11 IDL players had more than 50 pressures. The edge group more than doubled that with 27. Only 6 IDL guys had 10 or more sacks. The Edge group had 21. For the positions they play, if they both do fall into the next tier, Allen is more likely to be productive than Q. A top 15 IDL is more likely to be a 45 pressure, 6 sack guy where a top 15 edge is more likely to be a 60 pressure Youth Wesley Walker Jerseys , 11 sack guy. Round 3:My pick: OT, Yodny Cajuste, West VirginiaMacc’s pick: Edge, Jachai Polite, Florida Cajuste is the kind of nasty tackle that would fit right in on this team of “dogs.” He is no stranger to playing through the whistle. Yodny has great arm length, and uses it well to shepard defenders around the arc. He shows good balance, footwork and strength to also be plus in the run game. He has 1st round talent, but there are rumblings that he is injury prone. His most recent was a torn quad. In the 3rd round, a talent like Cajuste’s is too good to pass up. Polite is one of my favorite edges in the class, but since I took Allen in the 1st, I decided to go with our future biggest need.Round 3:My pick: WR, Hakeem Butler, Iowa StateMacc’s pick: OT Wesley Walker Jerseys Stitched , Chuma Edoga, USCI had a late 2nd round grade on Butler. He is a giant, imposing receiver that uses his size and length to shield off defenders easily. He’s a real bully, and would give Sam an alpha talent to toss it up to when in trouble. Butler does have some questionable hands, but will more often than not come down with the ball in contested situations. I like Edoga as a developmental guy, but with Cajuste in the loop Edoga would have been a little redundant. Round 4:My pick: CB, Mark Fields, ClemsonMacc’s pick: TE, Trevon Wesco, West VirginiaConsidering my 4th round pick didn’t even get drafted, I understand that this looks like a bit of a reach. The thing with Fields is that he has seen so little of the playing field. When he did play though, he was a shutdown corner. I am sure there was some reason Clemson didn’t play him more, but I couldn’t find it. His ability to lock down receivers was impressive Color Rush Blessuan Austin Jersey , and I wasn’t comfortable taking anyone else. Wesco was a fun watch. He is a brute when blocking and is sneaky as a receiver. He finds the soft spots and exploits them. We’ll see how Fields does in KC, but Wesco might get the nod here. We’ll see in a few years.Round 5: My pick: C/G, Lamont Gaillard, GeorgiaMacc’s pick: LB, Blake Cashman, Minnesota This pick was easy to make. We are starved for centers. Harrison is decent depth, and ok in spot starts. Unless he greatly improves under Gase, we need an upgrade. Gaillard might not be a day 1 starter, but he has a lot of upside, and could make an impact sooner rather than later. The difference between 2017/18 Gaillard and 2018/19 Gaillard is night and day. I almost stopped watching him after watching 2017/18. I am glad I didn’t. He was so much improved in almost every aspect. He went from being an off balanced turnstyle against Bama to holing his own against Q. Williams. Right now, we have pretty decent depth at offball LBer, but Cashman still has some high upside.Round 6:My pick: WR, Kelvin Harmon Youth Blessuan Austin Jersey , NC StateMacc’s pick: CB, Blessuan Austin, Rutgers This opportunity was too good to pass up. I had a late 2nd round grade on Harmon. The fact that he was still around here is amazing. I know teams were put off by his 4.60 40, but the guy is still very well rounded. He has the size we covet, and uses it well. His hands a reliable. Even with his size, he is very fluid in his change of direction. He won’t blow anyone away with his quickness, but still manages to get open. Austin has some low risk high reward ability, but I already took that with Mark FIelds. Here’s an overview of how both Macc and I did. I think Macc did a great job with his first two picks, but I think I did a little better in the mid to late round picks. We won’t know for sure for another few years. Let me know what you think. Former Jets wideout and 1976 Olympic gold medalist Johnny “Lam” Jones has died. The reported Jones’ death on Friday. Jones, who was 60, had been battling myeloma cancer for many years.Jones was the No. 2 overall pick of the 1980 draft after a celebrated career as a football player and track star at the University of Texas. He entered the school with a gold medal that he won as a member of the 4X100 meter relay team at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.Jones was the leading receiver for a run-oriented Longhorns offense in each of his final three years at the school and the Jets drafted him after Billy Sims went first overall to the Lions and before Anthony Munoz was selected by the Bengals. His career didn’t pan out as well as Munoz’s as he caught 138 passes for 2,322 yards and 13 touchdowns over five seasons before injuries derailed his career. Our condolences go out to his family and loved ones.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — With a few minutes left in the first half, on their fifth attempt to slow down Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, the Chargers finally managed a defensive stop.It was only temporary.Desmond King fumbled New England’s first punt of the game, Albert McClellan recovered the ball just inches before it went out of bounds , and the Los Angeles defense was back on duty. The Patriots needed just four more plays to score their fifth touchdown in one of the most dominating starts in NFL postseason history.“We laid an egg today,” Chargers safety Adrian Phillips said after the Patriots scoredfourstraighttouchdowns to blow open the game and went on to win 41-28. “We didn’t show up the way we usually do.”One week after shutting down Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in the wild-card round, the Chargers (13-5) fell behind 35-7 in the first half and blew an opportunity to advance to their first AFC championship game since the 2007 season.Instead, the Patriots (12-5) reached the conference title game for the eighth straight time, with a chance to reach the Super Bowl for the third year in a row and the ninth time under Brady and coach Bill Belichick.“They’ve been here before and they showed up today,” Chargers coach Anthony Lynn said. “We dug ourselves in a hole in the first half, but the guys came back out in the second half and competed hard. It was a little too late.”The Patriots are the second team in league history to score a touchdown on each of the first four drives of a playoff game Youth James White Jerseys , joining the 2000 Indianapolis Colts (in a first-round game against Denver).Quarterback Philip Rivers said he was pleased with the way the Chargers offense helped out the defense and came right back to tie it 7-all after New England scored on its opening drive.“All year, we’ve really complemented each other well. And if one side needed picking up a little bit, we’ve done that,” Rivers said.“We did it right away after the first drive,” he said. “They scored again and we didn’t answer, and they scored again and we didn’t answer, and they scored again and we didn’t answer. We needed to and we knew offensively that our defense was going to settle in and they needed us and we didn’t hold up our end.”The only other time the Patriots failed to score in the first half was on their last possession, when they took over with 51 seconds left and moved to the Los Angeles 36. And it was only because Phillip Dorsett was stopped inbounds and the clock ran out that they weren’t able to attempt a field goal.New England’s Ryan Allen did not punt again until there were under 10 minutes left in the game.“We played better on defense in the second half, but it was too late,” safety Derwin James said. “Once Brady has a lead on you like that, it’s tough.”The Chargers lost on the road for just the second time all season, and this one wasn’t even close. Before heading into the locker rooms at the half trailing 35-7 James White Jerseys Stitched , they:—Gave up 347 yards of offense, while gaining just 128.—Had six first downs to 24 for New England.—Allowed the Patriots to convert all five times they were in the red zone and on five of six third downs.“We got our butt’s kicked today,” Lynn said. “It’s not a comfortable moment for us, for sure, but I think in these times we can learn a lot about ourselves.”Rivers completed 25 of 51 passes for 331 yards in the game — much of it after it was out of reach. Tyrell Williams caught five passes for 94 yards, Melvin Gordon had a rushing touchdown and Antonio Gates had a TD reception in what could be the last game of his career.“Pretty cool that if it were to be his last one, that his last catch was a touchdown,” Rivers said. “If it were to be, you’d look back one day and say it ended just how it started there a long time ago.”

(AP) — The New York Giants are letting three-time Pro Bowl safety Landon Collins test the free-agent market without any restrictions. The Giants on Tuesday elected not to put a franchise tag on their leading tackler in each of his four seasons with the team. The NFL announced later in the afternoon six players were designated as non-exclusive franchise players. Collins was not on the list.Teams can begin signing free agents at 4 p.m. EDT on March 13, a week from Wednesday. In a tweet, Collins thanked the organization for four “great years” and said he was looking forward to the next chapter of his football career.Collins’ tweet came less than three hours before the NFL deadline for teams to put a franchise tag on an unrestricted free agent. The tag would have cost the Giants $11.15 million against their 2019 salary cap and general manager Dave Gettleman gave indications at the NFL combine last week that the price was steep.“I want to thank the Giants organization for believing in me and allowing me to have 4 great years in NY,” Collins tweeted. “I can’t express how great it was to play with my teammates and in one of the greatest cities in the world. I will forever cherish my time in the blue and white and the relationships I have built in the building and in my community. Now on to the next chapter….”The remaining Giants safeties are not playmakers like Collins. Veteran Michael Thomas and Sean Chandler are the top guys at the position, so the team may look to sign a free agent or draft a safety. After the opening day of the 2015 draft, the Giants traded up to get Collins with the first pick in the second round. In return, New York gave Tennessee its second round pick (the eighth in the round), along with fourth and seven-round choices. It turned out to be a smart move by then-general manager Jerry Reese, well worth the $6.12 million the team paid him for four seasons.Collins was outstanding in his four seasons, leading the club with 112, 125, 104 and 96 tackles. The lowest number was this past season when the former Alabama star suffered a partially torn labrum against Chicago that required surgery. He to missed the final four games.Collins also had surgery after the 2017 season to repair a broken right forearm sustained in the penultimate game. The 25-year-old Collins started 59 games with the Giants and had 437 tackles, four sacks and eight interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. He was also a leader in the locker room. His best season was 2016 when the Giants went to the playoffs for the only time since winning the Super Bowl after the 2011 season. He returned to his natural strong safety spot after a year as the free safety and had 125 tackles and five interceptions, earning All-Pro honors. How to watch Saints vs. Giants: Game time, TV channels, odds, live stream White Phil McConkey Jerseys , radio, more It’s game day, New York Giants fans!
As the Buffalo Bills prepare to host the New England Patriots

on Monday Night Football http://www.thebillslockerroom.com/authentic-ryan-groy-jersey , Sean McDermott and company need to look for any weaknesses the Patriots might have if they want to pull off the upset. Derek Anderson in particular, will need to do his homework. And why not? Through study, it’s likely he can be taught to find the Achilles heel in the defense. One place opportunity might exist will be match-ups against slot corner Jonathan Jones. Let’s take a peek. Play 1Tyreek Hill does this to a lot of people, so it’s hard to fault Jonathan Jones completely. Jones is toast pretty much from the snap. Shockingly, Jones’s help doesn’t even start to enter the situation until way too late. Jones is a poor match for a speedster and this is one way that the Bills can attack the Patriots’ defense. This wasn’t the only instance where Jones was asked to cover Hill either. The only thing that stopped this from being a touchdown was ball placement. Play 2Sammy Watkins sees Jones and uses another Patriot to make the play for him. Jones isn’t always able to navigate around a busy part of the field and this too can present opportunities for the Bills. If Patrick Mahomes was looking Watkins’ way, this play would be making the rounds on social media. Play 3There’s very little adjustment by the Patriots to Kareem Hunt’s movement in the backfield. The end result is that Jonathan Jones becomes responsible for Hunt. By the time Jones realizes this, there’s no stopping a chunk play. The closing speed is good and the angle adjustment keeps Hunt from a finesse move to blow by Jones. Play 4Zay Jones can make this cut all day and the Bills might be wise to try setting it up. Note that Jonathan Jones doesn’t shy from the late bump. He’s not afraid to play physical football, but this route beats him cleanly. Play 5It’s rare to see Jones in zone looks but here he is in a game against the Houston Texans. He passes his man off cleanly and closes fast when it’s time to rush in. Between the three defenders Eddie Yarbrough Jerseys 2019 , the ball carrier is boxed in well. Play 6This chippy play occurred regularly between Jones and the Kansas City Chiefs. On the play before this one Jones grabbed and instigated— this play was the retaliation. A few times it looked like it would lead to punches. Jones can be a little grabby on routes as well, so look for scrapping and cross your fingers it’s Jones who earns the flags. Play 7Jonathan Jones is at his best when he’s playing more like a safety. With the run in front of him, he displays patience and sets his foot decisively to cut around the lineman and make the tackle. Play 8Here’s a similar play but with a true open-field tackle to make. Mahomes has a couple options to look for with his cut. Jones waits it out and forces Mahomes to commit. Once Mahomes’s decision is made, he’s rewarded with a lowered shoulder from Jones. In ConclusionJonathan Jones could be a player the Bills look to find some opportunities against on Monday night. Without an established burner on the team, it’s unlikely the Bills can replicate what Tyreek Hill did to Jones above. Crossing routes, comebacks, hitches and similar routes are something the Bills do have in Zay Jones. If Derek Anderson can establish some rhythm with the second-year receiver, it could pay off. When the Bills host the Pats on Monday Night Football White Jordan Mills Jerseys , fans might want to keep up with the Joneses. We have one more week to go in the NFL regular season, and the teams in the AFC East are all preparing to take the field for very different reasons. Unfortunately, only the New England Patriots have playoffs on the mind but the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, and Miami Dolphins will also be playing with a chip on their shoulder this week.New England PatriotsThere is still a lot for the Patriots to play for going into their Week 17 match-up against the Jets. If the team wins then they clinch a first round bye in the playoffs. However, with a win and a loss by the Los Angeles Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs, the team would clinch the one seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. A loss could mean the Patriots slip down to the three seed with a Houston Texans win. This is also a game to possibly get Brady back on track—something just seems to be off.Buffalo BillsFor the Bills, their game against the Dolphins is all about experience going into next season. They knew this was going to be a rebuilding year so it is another opportunity for Josh Allen to get reps under center and improve on his rookie season. A win would clinch the third spot in the division.New York JetsMuch like the Bills Jordan Mills Jerseys 2019 , this is a game for rookie Sam Darnold to get more practice in against the Patriots. Darnold has looked good lately so another good showing against New England would give him a lot of confidence going into the off-season. This is also a game for Todd Bowles to deliver one last positive note at the end of the season. With all the talk about him being on the hot seat, a win against the Patriots may be able to save his job. The team can also move past the Bills in the division with a win and a Buffalo loss.Miami DolphinsThe Dolphins will be in an interesting position this off season, depending on how the game against the Bills shape out. A win would give them the average 8-8 finish on a season where the playoffs would have been a possibility with a couple more wins. The big storyline to follow after the game will be the rumors about who is staying and going because a couple big names are already being talked about. Both quarterback Ryan Tannehill and head coach Adam Gase have been mentioned about possibly no longer being with the team next season, as is Executive VP of Football Operation Mike Tannenbaum. Miami has already locked itself in as the second-place team in the division, so this game is more about impressing the front office to cement spots for next season.

Michael Felger went so far as to say that Patriots fans couldn’t take the loss. But is that really the case? Did Bill Belichick actually leave a ton of value on the table when he moved Jimmy G? Let’s take a closer look at whether or not that’s actually the case.To do this exercise, I’m going to take a closer look at four trades, one of them being the Garoppolo trade. I’m going to be using the Jimmy Johnson draft pick valuation model to determine the value of each pick that is traded (the updated 2019 version I’m using is from drafttek.com). I’m going to start with the trade that most people will probably point to when they make the argument the Patriots should’ve gotten more compensation:Sam Bradford tradeThe Vikings acquired Bradford from the Eagles before the 2016 season in exchange for a 2017 first-round pick, and a 2018 fourth-rounder, that could become a better pick if certain conditions were met. The Eagles also paid $11 million of Bradford’s $18 million salary for the 2016 season. The Vikings overpaid significantly to get Bradford, but there was some reasoning behind why they did it. The Vikings had won the NFC North the year before with Teddy Bridgewater throwing only 14 touchdown passes, but he had suffered a gruesome leg injury before the season. The thought process was that they didn’t need a superstar at QB to make a deep run in the playoffs, but someone who could manage the games and not lose them. Their hope for Bradford was to simply not screw things up.He did better than that, completing over 70% of his passing and tossing 20 touchdowns compared to only 5 interceptions. Their faith in Bradford paid off on the stat sheet but not on the field, as the team finished 8-8. The ironic part is that, after Bradford got hurt the following season, Case Keenum would lead the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game. Was it a good trade by Minnesota? No, they overpaid for Bradford. They thought that if they simply had a QB who was half-decent, they could go deep in the playoffs, and they did that the following year, so they weren’t too far off. But trading for Bradford was a complete panic move Authentic Kendarius Webster Jersey , and proved to be quite stupid. The real question is: is there a comparison between Garoppolo and Bradford? My answer is, in how it related to the Vikings situation, no. They wanted a little bit of a veteran quarterback who could lead them a bit. Again, it was stupid, but they’re not giving up what they did if Jimmy is on the other side of the trade. Josh Rosen tradeNext, let’s take a look at the Josh Rosen trade that was made this weekend: Miami acquired Rosen from the Cardinals for the #62 overall pick and a 2020 5th rounder. The Cardinals had just selected Kyler Murray #1 overall, and they had the #10 pick from last year’s draft, Josh Rosen, who was going to sit on the bench and watch Murray take his job. They needed to move Rosen, who, as many experts said, would’ve been the top quarterback in the draft if he had been coming out this season. The Dolphins gave up the picks they did because they were able to get a very talented guy who has some really bad NFL tape. However, I’m not sure how anyone can fault Rosen for what happened in Arizona last year. That team was a dumpster fire, and he was simply caught in the middle of it. The Dolphins might have gotten the steal of the draft at #62 without even drafting a player. The parallels to Garoppolo are certainly there: they are both young, and although the Dolphins aren’t throwing tons of money at Rosen, they are obviously hoping he turns out to be the long term solution for them. As far as the trading partner, everyone knew that Arizona had Kyler Murray, so they needed to move Rosen Kendarius Webster Jersey Boys , but the Patriots also had Tom Brady. Of course they were going to deal Garoppolo — they certainly weren’t going to deal the GOAT. So, any value that was lost, was probably lost by both teams. Rob Johnson tradeNow that takes us to the cautionary tale. The quarterback who probably stacks up the best against Garoppolo, who was traded for so much that it’s still considered one of the worst trades in NFL history, Rob Johnson. The Bills acquired Johnson from the Jaguars in exchange for the #9 overall pick and #101, which was in the fourth round at the time. Johnson has started one game in Jacksonville, he looked great. Mark Brunell was hurt and was going to miss some time. Johnson was finally going to get his chance to play, and he got hurt. Sound familiar? Now, Johnson had very limited stats in Buffalo, going 22-28 with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, but he had looked fantastic in preseason games, and really looked like he could be a good player in the league. It’s easy to say that everyone knew he was going to be bad, but that’s just not true. No one knew for sure about him, but he had looked pretty good in limited action. As I said, this is considered one of the worst trades in NFL history, and has served as a cautionary tale for those teams considering trading big assets for unproven players, especially QBs. Now I don’t think that Jimmy G is going to be a bust, and he’s probably already been better than Johnson ever was Infant Chase Winovich Jersey , but this trade might have been in the back of everyone’s head when considering trading for Garoppolo. Jimmy Garoppolo tradeThat brings us to Garoppolo. Now, could the Patriots gave gotten more for him? I think that’s a strong possibility. But it’s also not a guarantee they could have. Could they have received compensation like the Vikings were supposed to give up, just over 750 value points. Or could they have gotten what the Cardinals got, which was just over 300. Well, it turns out what they got was somewhere right in the middle. When the Patriots made the trade, the 49ers were 0-8, any reasonable assumption would put them at a max of 4-4 after the trade, which would have had them finish 4-12, giving them the fifth pick of the second round. The value for that pick is 530, according to Johnson’s chart. As it was, they went on a run at the end of the season, and they finished 6-10, which gave them the eleventh pick in the second round, which is worth 470.Whether the return was 530 or 470, what’s clear is the value they got back was between Bradford’s expected value, which was a clear overpay, and Josh Rosen, who was available way below market value. So what’s my conclusion? While the Patriots may not have “won” the Garoppolo trade Chase Winovich Jersey Draft , to think that they would’ve been able to get much more would be crazy. If you wanted to match the expected value of the Vikings deal, again, not what they actually gave up, but what they (stupidly) thought they would have to give up, assuming they made a deep playoff run. You’re talking about adding a third round pick.In my opinion, the Vikings overpaid for Bradford, so I would say drop it down to a fourth or fifth round pick. Now the argument is that Patriots fans can’t take the loss because Belichick left a fifth round pick on the table when dealing Garoppolo? Please. What really happened, is that we all overvalued a player on the Patriots’ roster. It’s okay, he was here, and we liked him, that’s not a crime, but he wasn’t worth a top-10 pick, which Cleveland was supposedly going to give up for him. They never were, by the way. That story has turned into the Tomase-walkthrough-story, it was said once, so it must be true, even when there’s no evidence it ever happened. If you don’t think the Patriots won the Garoppolo deal, you’re probably right Chase Winovich NFL Jersey , neither do I, but they also didn’t lose it either.Pat is a host of The Patriot Nation PodcastInteract with him on Twitter @plane_pats New England adds to its tight end depth chart." />Skip to main contentclockmenumore-arrownoyesHorizontal - WhitePats Pulpita New England Patriots communityLog In or Sign UpLog InSign UpPatriots NewsOpinion and AnalysisContribute!About the SiteTopicsPatriotsOddsShopStubHubMoreAll 322 blogs on Horizontal - WhitePatriots News Opinion and Analysis Contribute! Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsThe New England Patriots’ tight end position has been marked by uncertainty and personnel turnover this offseason. Gone are Rob Gronkowski, Dwayne Allen and Jacob Hollister, replaced mostly by offseason additions — the latest of which being brought on board just earlier today: as first reported by Justin Rogers of the Detroit News, the Patriots have acquired Detroit Lions tight end Michael Roberts via trade. New England is reportedly sending a conditional seventh-round draft selection in 2020 to Detroit in order to bring the 25-year-old on board. The relatively modest compensation already shows that Roberts is not a lock to make the Patriots’ new-look tight end group: Roberts will have to earn his spot on the team over the course of training camp and the preseason, or else New England will not be afraid of moving on again.Roberts, who appeared in 23 games for Detroit since the team drafted him in the fourth round in 2017, will now compete against the likes of fellow offseason signings Matt LaCosse, Benjamin Watson and Andrew Beck as well as returning tight ends Ryan Izzo and Stephen Anderson. And like all the other members of the position depth chart except Watson, his statistical career output so far has been comparatively modest.Mostly a rotational player in Detroit, Roberts caught just 13 passes for 146 yards and 3 touchdowns so far in his career. Described as a marginally athletic prospect that “had proven to be a decent blocker and great red-zone threat” in college, according to Pride of Detroit’s Mansur Shaheen, he was mostly a disappointing investment for the Lions. Now, he and the Patriots will have to hope that a new environment changes the course of his career.

Their pessimism regarding the Giants in 2019 isn’t new and they projected the Giants to finish with a 6-10 record when they released their preliminary win total projection back on March 31st.After the draft, and the roster shuffling which followed, CG Technology is predicting the Giants’ wins to be against the Buffalo Bills (Week 2) Alec Ogletree Jersey , Washington Redskins (Week 4), Arizona Cardinals (Week 7), and Miami Dolphins (week 15). For the Giants he might be their future right tackleEDTShareTweetShareShareOklahoma OL Cody Ford looks like a ‘Dave Gettleman’ pickKevin Jairaj-USA TODAY SportsSo far the New York Giants have yet to address their right tackle position. It was widely assumed that they would make finding another starting offensive tackle a priority in 2019 free agency period. But between their self-imposed need to save twice the normal amount of cap space for their “rainy day fund” and the dead money left over from their trades, the Giants weren’t able to get in on the top free agents. But all is not lost and assuming the Giants want to replace Chad Wheeler, they can still look to the 2019 NFL Draft to find a long-term answer at right tackle. This happens to be a solid year for offensive tackles http://www.giantslockerroom.com/authentic-jonathan-stewart-jersey , and most of the top prospects either being natural right tackles or having experience at the position. The Giants are also in the process of restructuring their offense around the running game. All of that means that Oklahoma right tackle Cody Ford could be high on their radar and in strong consideration for one of their first round selections.MeasurablesProsMassive and powerful offensive lineman. Flashes the ability to dominate at the line of scrimmage.Surprisingly fluid mover for a big lineman. Able to impose his will when he plays with leverage. Uses hands well to deal with stunts, twists, and blitzes.Plays with a nasty streak. Can play both guard and tackle. ConsMight be too short for some teams to consider at tackle.Does not have great foot quickness or speed over any kind of distance.Needs to consistently play with better pad level.Hands are occasionally low, late, or wide.Occasionally plays with waist bend instead of knee bend.Struggles to block accurately in space or on the move.Prospect VideoWhat They’re Saying - Lance Zierlein (NFL.com - Scouting Report) Does He Fit The Giants? While there is some debate whether Ford is better suited to playing guard or tackle at the NFL level, Ford would absolutely fit given the status of the Giants’ right tackle position. The Giants seem intent on rebuilding their offense around running the ball and a quick passing game. If so, Ford would make a solid addition to their offensive line. He might not have the physical tools to consistently pass protect for deep drops and long-developing plays, but he should be able to stand up to quick pressure.Ford should be a good run blocker early in his career with his height Youth Carl Banks Jerseys , 6-foot, 3 ¾ inches, giving him natural leverage to go with an impressively powerful lower body. Ford will be a natural fit in a man-gap or inside zone scheme, and should be able to execute well enough in outside zone runs. While he can get out in space and pull, or be a blocker on screen plays, he struggles getting into position and actually delivering his blocks. He does come with some of the familiar issues that massive and powerful offensive linemen tend to acquire, namely a tendency to rely on his size and strength to win a rep, rather than executing with technique. When ford plays with good knee bend and fires his hands into a defender’s chest plate Carl Banks Jerseys Stitched , he is absolutely dominant. Once he is locked in on a defender, the rep is usually over. However, he still needs to build consistency in all of those areas and improve his technique as a blocker. Ford’s ability to play guard (and perhaps do so at a higher level than offensive tackle) is a hidden upside for the Giants. It could allow them to move on from Kevin Zeitler (who has 22 million in salary over 2020 and 2021, but no dead money) after the 2019 season if they so desire. Cody Ford might not be a shoe-in as a great right tackle at the NFL level, but his frame, game, and potential upside mean that he will almost certainly catch Dave Gettleman’s eye.

the Buffalo Bills began the season with a wide-

In 2018 Vosean Joseph Jersey Boys , receiver group that was, to put it lightly, lacking in talent and depth. The team seemed ready to rely on big receivers with a big catch radius at the expense of wideouts who could create separation in their routes. The top three receivers on the depth chart to open the season were Kelvin Benjamin, Zay Jones, and Jeremy Kerley, with Andre Holmes playing the role of fourth receiver.By December, three of those four players were gone, with Kerley unable to make it out of the month of September before his release, and Holmes and Benjamin making it until the end of November. Only Benjamin signed with another team this season. In their place, the Bills prioritized smaller, quicker players who might not win many contested catches, but who could create separation with their speed and quickness. In our latest look at the state of the Bills’ roster, we look at the receivers, a group that has changed dramatically since September, and will almost definitely change again before training camp begins.Zay JonesContract status for 2018: Signed; $1,849,044 cap hit ($1,535,394 dead cap if cut)Age: 23 (24 on 3/30/19)Playing time: 16 games (15 starts), 941 snaps (88.86% of offensive total); 2 ST snaps (.46%)Key statistics: 102 targets, 56 catches, 652 yards (11.6 YPC), 7 TD, 1 fumbleFor much of the year, Kelvin Benjamin was referred to as Buffalo’s number-one receiver; however Infant Dawson Knox Jersey , playing time and production data both clearly indicate that Jones was actually the top dog in this group. The young wideout rebounded from a dreadful rookie season to post solid, albeit unspectacular, numbers during his second year. Early in the year, Jones operated mostly in the slot, ceding outside time to Benjamin and Andre Holmes. As the bigger veterans were phased out of the offense, Jones moved outside and was able to show his versatility. After a big jump from year one to year two, Jones taking another huge leap in year three would make a world of difference for Buffalo’s passing game in 2019.Ray-Ray McCloud IIIContract status for 2018: Signed; $609,956 cap hit ($119,868 dead cap if cut)Age: 22 (23 on 10/15/19)Playing time: 10 games (1 start), 121 snaps (11.43%); 10 ST snaps (2.28%)Key statistics: 6 targets, 5 catches, 36 yards (7.2 YPC), 2 rush, 4 yards, 2 fumbles, 4 punt returns, 20 yards, 1 kick return, 18 yardsThe Bills drafted the speedy wideout from Clemson in the sixth round this season, and they seemed ready to deploy him as a returner/slot receiver/Swiss Army knife player. That role never quite materialized for McCloud, as issues with fumbling took him out of the running for returning punts, and mid-season acquisitions of better receivers with similar skill sets lessened his role in the offense. McCloud has a tenuous-at-best hold on a roster spot for next season.Isaiah McKenzieContract status for 2018: Signed; $645,000 cap hit (dead cap if cut unknown)Age: 23 (24 on 4/9/19)Playing time: 7 games (1 start), 222 snaps (20.96% of offensive total); 43 ST snaps (9.79%)Key statistics: 30 targets, 18 catches Dawson Knox Jersey Draft , 179 yards (9.9 YPC), 10 rush, 66 yards, 2 TD, 2 fumbles, 14 punt returns, 87 yards, 12 kick returns, 237 yardsMcKenzie is a player the Bills clearly liked, as they claimed him off waivers from the Denver Broncos after trying to sign him from the Broncos practice squad a few weeks earlier and immediately inserted him into the lineup. His first game with the team came against the New York Jets in Week 10, and he became Buffalo’s primary slot receiver upon Benjamin’s release three weeks later. He had some good moments, showing proficiency as a jet-sweep rusher and as a kick returner, and he was able to gain separation while running routes, but inconsistent hands leaves McKenzie less in a solid place than he seemed to be upon his acquisition.Robert FosterContract status for 2018: Signed; $570,000 cap hit (0 dead cap if cut)Age: 24 (25 on 5/7/19)Playing time: 13 games (3 starts), 450 snaps (42.49% of offensive total); 42 ST snaps (9.57%)Key statistics: 44 targets, 27 catches, 541 yards (20 YPC), 3 TDBuffalo’s best find of the 2018 season is definitely Foster, who easily surpassed his entire collegiate total in receiving yards (389) during his rookie season in the NFL. The deep threat seemed to develop as a route runner as the year progressed, and his rapport with quarterback Josh Allen is evident. Foster may be no better than a low-end number two receiver or a top-end number three in the NFL, but he is certainly the kind of player who belongs on an NFL roster. Credit the Bills for finding him, but credit Foster for working hard to succeed after the team released him and demoted him to the practice squad.Da’Mari Scott锘緾ontract status for 2018: Unsigned; ERFAAge: 23 (24 on 8/8/19)Playing time: 3 games, 3 snaps (.28% of offensive total); 38 ST snaps (8.66%)Key statistics: N/AThe mid-season practice-squad acquisition was promoted to the final roster for three games in December. While he did not accumulate any statistics, he did show a willingness to play special teams Dawson Knox NFL Jersey , something that Sean McDermott values in his back-end roster players. As an exclusive rights free agent, Scott should be brought back in for at least the offseason and training camp periods.Victor Bolden Jr.Contract status for 2018: Unsigned; ERFAAge: 23 (24 on 4/4/19)Playing time: 2 games, 3 snaps (.28% of offensive total); 9 ST snaps (2.05%)Key statistics: 5 kick returns, 116 yardsBuffalo added the shifty return-man from the San Francisco 49ers practice squad on December 18, and he served as the Bills’ primary kick returner for the final two games of the season. Also an exclusive-rights free agent, it’s worthwhile to bring him back for offseason work before making a final decision on him for the 2019 season.Deonte ThompsonContract status for 2018: Unsigned; UFAAge: 29 (30 on 2/14/19)Playing time: 5 games (2 starts), 80 snaps (7.55% of offensive total), 20 ST snaps(4.56%)Key statistics: 10 targets, 3 catches, 37 yardsBuffalo re-signed the veteran on November 14, beginning his third tour of duty in Orchard Park. He never quite fit in with the offense this season, making three catches in five games before a toe injury against the Detroit Lions ended his season. As an unrestricted free agent, it’s highly unlikely that he’ll be brought back next year.D’haquille WilliamsContract status for 2018: Signed to future/reserve deal on 1/7/2019; $495,000 base salary ($0 dead cap hit if cut)Age: 25 (26 on 5/13/19)Playing time: 18 games in CFL for Edminton EskimosKey statistics: 88 catches, 1,579 yards (17.9 YPC), 11 TD in CFLThe Bills signed the big-bodied wideout to a reserve/future deal, meaning he will be with the team at least through offseason work. Williams was a highly-touted junior college prospect in 2014, and he played his major college football at Auburn University. After a solid junior season (45/730/5), he was dismissed from the team during his senior season for his involvement in an incident at a bar. He went undrafted, signing with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent, before being released and heading to the CFL.Positional OutlookThe only real “locks” to be on the roster next year are Jones and Foster, as both showed enough this year to warrant being in the top four receivers next season. Keeping both McKenzie and Bolden seems a bit redundant, as each player is similarly sized (McKenzie is 5’8” and 173 pounds; Bolden is 5’8” and 178 pounds) and possesses a similar set of skills. McKenzie showed some promise as a receiver, but he’ll have to do a much better job catching the ball more consistently if he wants to stick on the roster next year. Scott seems like a perfect candidate for the practice squad again Dawson Knox NFL Draft , and that may be the route the team goes with McCloud, as well. Thompson should not be with the team next year. The Bills will almost certainly try to fortify this position in the offseason, both through free agency and the draft. It’s also possible that the team could explore the trade market if they want to go fishing for a bigger prize (Antonio Brown? A.J. Green?) than those available on the open market. There are some intriguing options, including John Brown (whom the team courted last year before he signed with the Baltimore Ravens), Tyrell Williams, and Randall Cobb. One thing, however, is abundantly clear: general manager Brandon Beane, head coach Sean McDermott, and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll all discovered that the approach the team had taken at the position was not working, and they tried to change course midway through the season. The overhaul has continued into the offseason with the signing of Williams, a huge, intriguing player who is absolutely worth the flier the Bills are taking on him. Expect that overhaul to continue throughout the spring and summer.Buffalo Bills inactives: Vontae Davis is active as Taron Johnson recovers The Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Chargers are both missing a couple starters as they battle in Orchard Park today. The headliner is Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa, who has his foot in a cast at the moment. After Vontae Davis was a week one healthy scratch, today the Bills have placed him on the active roster. Here is the full list of inactive players:G Wyatt TellerT Conor McDermottG Ike BoettgerTeller and McDermott are inactive for the second week in a row, while Boettger rejoined the Bills this week on a waiver claim. All three young linemen will probably be inactive until they start outplaying veteran options like Marshall Newhouse, or until injuries force a shuffle.DE Shaq LawsonLawson’s recovering from a week one hamstring strain that held him out of practice all week.CB Taron JohnsonJohnson injured his shoulder in the first game of his career. He couldn’t practice this week, and Davis will be activated in his stead.WR Ray-Ray McCloudMcCloud returned to practice on Friday after missing the first game of the season with a knee injury. That didn’t give him quite enough time to prepare to play, but he’ll be on the active roster before long.TE Khari LeeLee was inactive last week, too, as the Bills looked to highlight their most dynamic athletes at tight end. So far, the trend remains the same. Here are the inactive players for the LA Chargers:

Below we have the transcript of special teams coordinator Heath Farwell White Chris Ivory Jerseys , who discussed the player evaluation process, his role and philosophies as a coordinator, the punting-game competition and more.STC Heath FarwellQ: I’m curious about what this time of year is like for you. You are a long way from knowing the final group of guys that you are going to have and getting stuff set up with guys that you aren’t sure who’s going to be here at the end of it all. How do you go about all that?A: I think the beauty of it is that we can do a lot of drill work that kind of gets everybody involved, get a bunch of reps. And the more guys we can get out there to see what they can do and how they can help us come to regular season, that’s what we are doing. We are getting a bunch of guys reps and everybody’s getting involved so we’re taking a look at everybody. Everybody out there, we are evaluating so it’s good.Q: Some of the guys that are drafted, I mean if you are going to make a team, if you’re a fourth-round pick or something, in a lot of cases you better be ready to play special teams. Do you keep a special eye on some of those guys?A: Yeah absolutely. Any of the rookies, they have big shoes to fill. All of these guys have been playing for a long time, recovered kicks at this level for a long time so they definitely got a lot of work to do. In the later rounds and the undrafted free agents, a big part of it is going to be on special teams so that’s going to be a big part. That’s the evaluation, how they play offensively, defensively and of course how can they contribute on special teams on that side of the field too.Q: How much is it for you now that you are in this special teams coordinator role finding your way as being that main guy in that position?A: Like I said Chris Ivory Jerseys 2019 , you just want to be able to evaluate them all and every little bit counts. It’s about how they do on offense and defense and then special teams. It’s a big part of the game and it’s a big emphasis here. Coach McDermott and Brandon Beane, that’s a huge emphasis for them so I’m just trying to help prepare them the best I can and [Matthew] Smiley, my assistant who is doing a really nice job just giving them those tools we can and prepare them. But they are all working hard, that’s the cool thing. Everyone is working their butts off and we are getting better everyday but we have a long ways to go. It’s still early and we are only a couple weeks in but it’s fun to be out here. We are excited to be out here and run around and be out on the grass. We are enjoying it.Q: What about you and your styles specifically, and kind of figuring out how you want to relay your message and run things on that side?A: I’m hoping the message is clear to them, what I’m into and what kind of program we are going to be around here but I think we just have to keep grinding. That’s the thing, we just have to keep working at it. That’s all we got to do, just keep working at it.Q: Are there one or two philosophies right now that this time of year you really try to drill home to guys, especially the younger guys, you want them to then continue to carry on?A: Playing fast and playing smart and playing with juice is kind of the motto we have got around here. It’s playing fast, we want that screaming off the tape. They’ve got to play with great effort, strength and then playing smart. We have got to be smart, we got to know the rules, those are the things. And playing with energy White Jeremy Kerley Jerseys , that’s what the best teams are about. Playing with juice and I’m hoping that’s the message that they are getting and that’s what me and Smiley are trying to portray.Q: What are your thoughts on a punting competition where that stands?A: They’ve both done a good job with their rehabs. They’ve worked their butts off all offseason to get back and both get full strength and they both are doing a really good job. I am happy with where their progress is but we are long ways to go from making a decision. Like I said, they are just competing and they are getting better everyday.Q: When it comes down to September and you need to figure out your special [teams unit] and who needs to be on it and you sit down with the head coach, does he give you a group of names and says these are special teams players or do you ask for certain players? How does that all break down to form the units that you have?A: I think it’s a collective group. It’s how they do offensively and defensively but can they contribute on special teams. When you have those guys that are on the bottom half of the roster, if you could help us out in one other phase or a couple of phases on special teams it has a lot of value. If you’re a backup linebacker it’s all the phases, so I think that’s part of the evaluation process between coach [McDermott], Brandon Beane and the coordinators. How can it help us win games, that’s what it’s about and how can we pick the best guys to help us do that.Q: Some starters you are going to want, aren’t you?A: Absolutely, I’d love to have them all. I’d love to have all the starters out there but that’s part of it. How much are we going to keep those guys out there? They are going to be playing a lot of reps on offense and defense so we got to have backups that play four phases and help out special teams-wise, and they got to be ready to fill in at their position on offense or defense. That’s what it is, it’s how they could help this team win. That’s the most important thing and whatever that value is, is going to be what’s going to make the team.Q: I’m curious how you think your experience as a player going to the Pro Bowl how that helps your current role, whether it’s getting guys to buy in or commanding respect right off the bat and however that sort of factored in?A: I definitely think that’s my coaching style. What I lack in experience in coaching I kind of make it up with playing time. I’ve played up against a lot of these guys or a couple guys I should say and just being in those locker rooms a handful of years ago, I feel like I’ve had a good relationship with them and am still building it. I’m hoping they respect me Jeremy Kerley Jerseys 2019 , I’m hoping I’m getting that respect from them as I’m coaching them because I respect every single one of them and I know what they go through. Understanding what they go through everyday, I would say, nobody knows it better than I do.Q: What’s it been like coaching a guy like Lorenzo [Alexander]?A: It’s great. He’s one of those guys I love to have on every phase because he can still do it on a high level, it’s just a matter of how much I can use him. But I respect Lorenzo, playing against him some handful of times. I’ve said before I couldn’t block him when I was playing against him and I respect him as a player and I respect him still and hopefully I am earning his respect coaching him.Q: How has he helped you transition into this role?A: All those veterans, I rely on them heavily. Being a new coordinator this is all new to me so getting a good understanding of what the feel is, is that clear enough to them, is that clear enough to the young guys because I know those guys, the older guys, get it but what are the young guys getting? It’s the whole group, I’m speaking to everybody not just Lorenzo. Lorenzo knows it as good as anybody. But he’s a good voice to call to let me know if I need to clear something up a little bit more or this so he has been a great sound board for me and a lot of these veterans, I rely on all of these guys who have done this and who have been in special team rooms whether it’s here or with other teams. They are very valuable and I am definitely taking full advantage of those guys.Q: What kind of mindset do they bring to playing special teams that makes them viable, especially to the younger guys?A: I think looking at our starters and their background, that’s where I try to explain to them that Lorenzo started off as a special teams guy and he’s found a niche playing defense and has found a great role for him White Micah Hyde Jerseys , but it wouldn’t have been if he didn’t play for special teams all those years at a high level. So we have several cases like that where guys contributing whether it’s Micah Hyde, some of these other guys or Jordan Poyer who would be on every phase if we let him. That’s a great example to these young guys. You see veterans who want to sit in the meetings, want to be there, want to be on them. It just shows the importance of special teams and a good team. That’s what I try to tell these guys. The good teams that I’ve been on and been a part of have good leaders who are willing to play special teams and care and really mentor the younger guys and know the importance of them because a lot of these rookies and young players have never played special teams in college, so it’s all new to them. We are starting from scratch but they have good role models for what it could look like.Q: What are the challenges of coaching special teams to the point where you guys are running around in shorts?A: It is hard but we make the most of it. Every team is doing the same thing, we do more bags or we do one-on-one drills. That’s why I break it down to drills as much as we do to try and break it down into little pieces and try to get the most out of them. I try to show them the drill and then show them the meaning of how to use that drill in the game. All of those drills, there’s a reason we are doing them and it’s putting those pieces together. So when we put on that game tape, that’s where you use that move that I just tried to teach you, that tool. I think just putting it all together especially for the young guys who don’t have a big understanding of the full game of special teams yet. So you do these drills, you kind of put it together in the meeting room and explain how that’s valuable and how you can use that tool.

White Jonathan Stewart Jerseys , but they finished the 2018 season just about the only way they could. They lost, but they made it a close loss, complete with highlight reel plays from Saquon Barkley and a disappointing defensive performance at the end to let victory slip away. The Giants’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys was a nearly perfect encapsulation of their 2018 season. This was our last look at the Giants before the 2019 free agency and draft seasons, let’s see what parting lessons they had for us. The Giants have work to do on the offensive lineWhen Dave Gettleman was hired he came in with sturm und drang, declaring that he would fix the offensive line, bring in “Hog Mollies,” and in general return the franchise to an earlier era of Giants football. Pat Shurmur talked about “changing the transmission” of the Giants’ offense, as they proceeded to completely tear down and rebuild the offensive line over the course of the year.Unfortunately, the Giants’ offensive line regressed.Eli Manning was sacked 47 times, eight more times than his previous high of 39, and 16 more sacks than in 2017 (despite attempting all of five more passes). The Giants finished with the 27th ranked run blocking offensive line (according to Football Outsiders), and spent most of the season with one of the very worst. A year ago they were ranked 15th. The Giants found a keeper in left guard Will Hernandez. The guard, who nobody expected to fall out of the first round of the draft, looks to be a long-term foundation piece. The team is locked in to left tackle Nate Solder for at least another year, and while Jamon Brown wasn’t the mid-season savior many hoped he would be Jonathan Stewart Jerseys 2019 , he was an upgrade over Patrick Omameh and he might be the Giants’ best option going forward. They could also hope that he plays better with better pieces around him.Center and right tackle, however, need to be addressed and upgraded this season. Chad Wheeler is a high-effort player, but a liability on the edge. Jon Halapio will return from injury, but he wasn’t particularly good before hie was hurt. (In particular, he struggled using his hands in the run game, and too often couldn’t snap the ball and get his hands up before defenders were into his pads. He is a low-cost option and should have the chance to continue to develop and compete, however.)Spencer Pulley showed why the Los Angeles Chargers felt comfortable in letting him go. Whether it is in the draft or in free agency, the Giants need to find answers for their offensive line. They were able to scheme around it in the last two weeks, and these two games should heavily inform their offensive scheme next year. Doing football things, however, will be MUCH easier if they don’t have a leaky, inconsistent offensive line.Saquon Barkley is really good at football The debate whether Barkley was the right pick for the Giants in 2018 will probably rage on for some time. In all honesty, it hasn’t been decided yet, but drafting Barkley instead of a quarterback leaves them with uncertainty at the most important position on the field. There is still time to address the position and maximize the potential of Barkley White Nate Solder Jerseys , Odell Beckham Jr.We can pick that debate up again tomorrow. For now, let’s just appreciate that Barkley joins Edgerrin James and Eric Dickerson to became the third rookie in NFL history with 2,000 yards from scrimmage. And in the final game of the season, Barkley got back to giving us highlight reel plays. Plays like these: Whoops, that was a scene from Space Jam. I meant this: And, of course, there was the play that put him over 2,000 yards on the season: He also set the record for receptions by a rookie running back: Evan Engram needs to be a major piece of the 2019 offenseIs Engram a 6-foot-6, 270-pound monster who can match up with a defensive end in pass protection and blow open holes in the run game? Nope, and attempts to use him as such are a mistake by the coaching staff. But credit where credit is due, with Beckham injured, Pat Shurmur has adjusted his usage of Engram, and Engram has responded by being the Giants’ most consistently productive offensive player over the last quarter of the season. Engram is a high effort player in the blocking game, though his frame will always limit the types of players he can match up against. Where he has an advantage over the prototypical tight ends is that he can play from all over the offensive formation, and be a true explosive mismatch. He is also a very tough ball carrier Nate Solder Jerseys 2019 , consistently working through contact and selling out for every yard. The trick for Pat Shurmur will be to remember what Engram is capable of when Beckham gets back healthy. The Giants need pieces on defense I already mentioned that the Giants need to add pieces to their re-built offensive line. They also still need to address the future of their quarterback position. They also need many pieces to field the kind of defense that James Bettcher wants to put on the field. Olivier Vernon finished the game with 2.5 sacks and was harassing Dak Prescott all game long — but he has struggled to convert pressure into production all season long, and only really produced against back-up offensive tackles. Curtis Riley had four interceptions on the year, but has been a liability at free safety all season ... And then he did whatever this was: The Giants still have struggled against tight ends and have a habit of making them — particularly Dallas tight ends — look like All-Pro players. Eight of their eleven losses were by a touchdown or less. While their offensive struggles certainly contributed to that, their defense’s inability to hold a lead and close out games was the primary reason. When the Giants had an 11-5 season and went to the play-offs in 2016, the defense’s ability to finish close games was a deciding factor, and it’s a factor that eludes them. They need to pour resources into this defense, and make smart decisions doing so.Giants cuts tracker: Tracking Giants roster moves, trades, rumors, updates, and more The NFL preseason is over and teams are now going about the serious business of trimming rosters from 90 players to the regular season limit of 53. New York Giants linebacker Alec Ogletree said Friday that it’s a “bittersweet” time because the regular season is starting, but players who will stay are bidding goodbye to players who may be seeing their NFL dreams come to an end.Giants coach Pat Shurmur said after Thursday’s preseason finale that the Giants have “enough information” to make good decisions about the roster.“I feel like we’ve got enough information,” Shurmur said.” We played all the players through the preseason, so we’re not going to be guessing as to whether a guy can do it or not. We’re in a position now to pick that initial 53-man roster.”Cutting players you have worked with for months is part of a head coach’s job, but not an easy one. “The human element of it is tough White Kareem Martin Jerseys ,” Shurmur said. “I think we all get used to it, but if you’ve got a heart and you’ve got a soul, you’re talking about guys’ livelihood. It’s a tough situation that way, but it’s real.”Shurmur said Friday that but that the Giants “have a decent idea” who will and won’t make the roster. We will find out who those guys are today.GM Dave Gettleman said Thursday that the Giants “will keep the 53 best” players and would then “work the waiver wire” to try and upgrade spots on the roster where possible. We will be tracking the cuts between now and the 4 p.m. ET deadline on Saturday to reach the roster limit, so keep checking back for updates. Roster movesThe reported list of cuts with less than an hour to go:— WR Marquis Bundy— WR Alonzo Russell— OL Malcolm Bunche— RB Jhurell Pressley— DT A.J. Francis— WR Travis Rudolph— DT Tyrell Chavis— LB Calvin Munson— OL Zac Kerin— CB Grant Haley— CB Chris Lewis-Harris— S Andrew Adams— WR Roger Lewis Jr.— RB Jalen Simmons— WR Kalif Raymond— OT Chris Scott— WR Amba Etta-Tawo— K Marshall Koehn — ILB Mark Herzlich — DT Izaah Lunsford — S Darian Thompson— LB Warren Long— TE Garrett Dickerson— CB Leonard Johnson— CB Mike Jones— OL Nick Gates (placed on IR)— OLB Avery MossThought Darian Thompson might end up on IR due to his lingering hamstring injury. Didn’t think Giants would outright waive him. If Thompson, a 2016 third-round pick goes unclaimed, he reverts to the Giants injured reserve list. [Full story]Garrett Dickerson, an undrafted free agent, seems like a favorite to land on the practice squad. With Leonard Johnson, Chris Lewis-Harris and Grant Haley all released, the Giants are obviously going to be scouring the waiver wire for cornerback help.A fifth-round pick last season by then-GM Jerry Reese, Avery Moss missed most of the spring with an injury and never caught up. I don’t believe he has practice squad eligibility, so he will be moving on.There was some thought that veteran offensive lineman Chris Scott could sneak onto the roster. That, apparently, isn’t happening.More to come on the release of veteran linebacker Mark Herzlich. [Full story]It has been obvious for a while that Aldrick Rosas was going to win the placekicking job.Amba Etta-Tawo had a good spring and a fast start to training camp. He disappeared in the preseason Kareem Martin Jerseys 2019 , though, with his only reception being Thursday’s 41-yard touchdown catch-and-run. He would seem like a logical practice squad candidate.Jhurell Pressley had two good preseason games, but he was never really likely to make the team. He was roster fill to help the Giants through preseason.Surprised by the cut of A.J. Francis. Said multiple times that he and Robert Thomas have similar skill sets, but thought both guys would make it. Guess that might be good news for someone like Romeo Okwara. [Full story]Travis Rudolph made a splash in the 2017 preseason, but his lack of speed and size made it difficult for him. He was also injured for a lengthy stretch in preseason, limiting his opportunities.Tyrell Chavis would be a logical practice squad addition. In my 53-man roster projection I had Grant Haley going to the practice squad. Thought he might sneak onto the roster once news broke that Chris Lewis-Harris was being released. Looks like the Giants will be scouring the waiver wire for some cornerback help. I would think Haley will land on the practice squad if he clears waivers. The Alex Tanney move is no surprise. He was never making the roster unless there was a major injury to Eli Manning, Davis Webb or Kyle Lauletta. The release of Kalif Raymond likely means Hunter Sharp wins the punt return job.Andrew Adams is a player the Giants just didn’t seem to believe was a fit in James Bettcher’s defense. I thought Chris Lewis-Harris played well enough on Thursday vs. the New England Patriots to earn a roster spot. Giants thought otherwise. [Full story]We have been telling you since the spring that the Giants’ new coaching staff has had Roger Lewis Jr., who had 26 receptions last season, buried on the depth chart. Now, the Giants are moving on without him.2018 Waiver Wire OrderOrderTeamOrderTeam

With the Jets getting set to take on the Broncos this Sunday

Men Quinnen Williams Jersey , I asked Sadarine of Mile High Report a few questions on the state of Denver’s resident football franchise.1. It’s been a rough start for Case Keenum as he ranks 31st of 34 qualifiers in passer rating, one spot behind Sam Darnold, and owns the worst TD-INT ratio in the league at 3-6. What has been the issue with Keenum and is there confidence that he can turn things around this year?2. The young backs for the Broncos have been spectacular as Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman are both top 15 in total rushing and averaging 5.0+ YPC. How do those two guys compliment one another, and how much credit does the offensive line deserve for springing the elite ground game Denver has had so far?3. Jets fans know what it’s like to unite in collective disdain for a head coach, as they are currently in that stage with Todd Bowles. Broncos fans seem to be in that place with Vance Joseph. Where is Joseph struggling and how safe is his job?4. The Broncos are a middle-of-the-pack defense in the scoring for the second straight year despite their high quality talent. Is this unit still getting the low end of the stick from the offense or are they truly a step or two below elite level?5. How has the rookie class performed? Bradley Chubb, Courtland Sutton Womens Lac Edwards Jersey , and Royce Freeman each seem to be having great starts to their careers. Was there a feeling this class could be special right away or is their early production a surprise?6. Are the Broncos a playoff-caliber team this year? If so, what major adjustments need to be made for them to get there? Good morning, GGN! I hope everyone’s having a great start to their day, and had a safe and enjoyable weekend. The NFL Playoffs wrapped up their Conference Championship Round, with both the Patriots and the Rams advancing to the Super Bowl. Both were great games that went into overtime, and each were well fought. However http://www.jetslockerroom.com/authentic-sam-darnold-jersey , instead of the play being remembered, it’s the referees and their decision making that’s been called into question. Both games were riddled with inconsistency, terrible calls and non-calls, and just poor performances overall from the zebras. It’s gotten to the point where the average fan could be replacement level for the refs, and that’s just disappointing. Unfortunately, everything is still quiet on the Jets end. No OC has been named yet Tarell Basham Jersey , and there isn’t much news to go around until the off-season officially begins.
