Giants General Manager Dave Gettleman has taken plenty of

criticism Authentic Daniel Jones Jersey , after suggesting that he knew he wouldn’t have been able to draft Duke quarterback Daniel Jones with the 17th overall pick, because two teams were ready to draft him before then. Some teams have flat-out denied they were interested, but Duke coach David Cutcliffe offered some support for the Giants’ position Wednesday.During an interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Cutcliffe responded negatively when asked if he thought there was a chance Jones might have been available to the Giants later in the first round.“No. I know things that I can’t reveal, but he would’ve gone well before that,” Cutcliffe said. “There were people that quietly had their hearts set on him.”And now that the draft is over, those people can say whatever they want Daniel Jones Jersey Boys , with no way of knowing whether it’s true or not. And frankly, the same goes for Gettleman. While they may be criticized for over-drafting him, and not getting the pass-rusher they needed with the sixth pick (Josh Allen was available), the Giants were correct to take Jones if they’re convinced he’s a future franchise quarterback. Those guys are rare.Ultimately, Gettleman and the Giants will be judged based on whether Jones becomes one, rather than when they decided to acquire him. The former Nebraska Cornhusker never matched an impressive freshman season" New York Giants NewsGiants’ 90-man roster: What are Giants getting in DL Freedom Akinmoladun?New,23commentsThe former Nebraska Cornhusker never matched an impressive freshman seasonEDTContinuing their search for undrafted gems Color Rush George Asafo-Adjei Jersey , the New York Giants this week signed former Nebraska defensive lineman Freedom Akinmoladun after he impressed during a rookie mini-camp tryout. What are the Giants getting in Akinmoladun, aside from a guy with a great first name and an impossibly difficult last name to both say and spell? It appears they are getting a player with tools and athleticism, but one who perhaps did not reach his potential with the Cornhuskers. Here is a quick scouting report from the folks at SB Nation’s Nebraska website, Corn Nation:“Untapped potential. Showed great explosion as a pass rusher as a redshirt freshman in 2015 before the previous strength staff had him bulk up and he lost his explosion. Hampered by an ankle injury and playing for three defensive line coaches and three DCs“Can he make the roster.... ? “That’s a damned good question. Nebraska football was completely lost under coach Mike Riley, and those guys didn’t get a lot of development, as was pointed out. “If he has time to stick around, maybe on a practice squad Youth George Asafo-Adjei Jersey , perhaps. There was a lot of hope for Freedom (not even a pun intended) when he was young, and then everything turned to crap. The defense went straight to hell under [former defensive coordinator] Bob Diaco.”Let’s take a closer look at Akinmoladun as we continue profiling the 90 players the Giants will bring to training camp later this summer. The basicsHeight: 6-foot-4Weight: 295Position: DLExperience: 0How he got hereAkinmoladun was a four-year starter at Nebraska. His best season was his freshman year when he compiled 4.5 sacks and 7.0 tackles for loss. Over the next three seasons, he had just 6.5 sacks and 9.0 tackles for loss combined. Here is a little bit more about how his Cornhusker career went:With the Giants in attendance, Akinmoladun tested well at the Nebraska Pro Day. The Giants brought him to the rookie mini-camp as a tryout player, liked what they saw and added him to the roster.2019 outlook Akinmoladun faces a steep climb to make the roster.B.J. Hill, Dalvin Tomlinson, first-round pick Dexter Lawrence Womens George Asafo-Adjei Jersey , seventh-round pick Chris Slayton, last year’s fifth-round pick R.J. McIntosh and free-agent signee Olsen Pierre would all appear to be ahead of Akinmoladun. The Giants also re-signed veteran nose tackle John Jenkins.Perhaps what the Giants see is a player with intriguing who could benefit from a year on an NFL practice squad with some quality coaching.

The Patriots receiver will be back in 2019.

Whether or not he plays is a different question."New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon has signed his restricted free agent tender Color Rush Yodny Cajuste Jersey , per ESPN’s Field Yates. Gordon’s availability to play in 2019 is in question due to repeated violations of the NFL’s performance-enhancing drugs policy, but if he gets clearance to play it will be in New England. The Patriots acquired Gordon in the middle of last season and Gordon helped the team secure a first round bye en route to winning another Super Bowl. Gordon caught 40 passes for 720 yards and received a Super Bowl ring despite facing an indefinite ban for violating the league’s drug policy in December.Hopefully Gordon can receive the help he needs off the field because that should always be the priority. If he’s able to return to the field with the Patriots, that should just be considered a bonus. New England shouldn’t change their approach to the wide receiver position in the draft with this news, but the idea of a receiving corps with a healthy Julian Edelman, Demaryius Thomas, and Josh Gordon is certainly tantalizing- and who knows, maybe that could get Rob Gronkowski to come out of retirement for one last ride. Kacy Rodgers missed being around the players and coaches the most while not knowing when he'd feel well enough to be back.A health scare sidelined the New York Jets defensive coordinator for two games 鈥?a tense few weeks for Rodgers, who was medically cleared and returned to work this week on a full-time basis."Walking in the locker room (Sunday) and seeing the guys, it's just good to be back Youth Yodny Cajuste Jersey , it really is," Rodgers said Thursday while speaking to reporters for the first time since coming back to work.Bowles announced on Oct. 5 that Rodgers was dealing with something "serious" after visiting the doctor the previous day. The 49-year-old Rodgers underwent tests and then had what he called "a procedure" and was able to do some office work at the team's facility last week."It was kind of bothering me, and it was something that we had to get checked out," Rodgers said. "So I had a procedure last Monday, and then I got the results back this Monday. Everything came back good, so we're good to go."Rodgers declined to provide details about the exact nature of his illness, saying he preferred to keep it private."I really don't want to say that right now," he said. "I feel a lot better. I really do. It's good to be back and getting back in the swing of things. We knew the procedure and we felt confident going in that it would be taken care of and we would know the results."He surprised the players by attending the Jets' victory over Indianapolis last Sunday and broke down the team's postgame huddle in the locker room."Sometimes you take for granted what it is to be around the guys and be with them every day," Rodgers said Womens Yodny Cajuste Jersey , "and the family unit it becomes."Rodgers has been out on the field during practice this week, but it's uncertain if he will call the defensive plays in his usual role Sunday against Minnesota."Him getting back into it was easy," Bowles said. "He was in the building last week doing tedious things, but getting back into it is pretty good. He's back at game-planning normally. We are all in meetings and we will decide that probably tomorrow or Saturday who is going to call it."After Bowles knew Rodgers wouldn't be able to coach against Denver two weeks ago, he announced the bad news to the team.Several of the players reached out to their coach, and he thought it was "truly touching" to hear from so many well-wishers."I got a lot of texts from all the guys," he said before smiling. "What's kind of ironic is, I coach the defense, but I had just as many offensive guys reaching out."But then came the tough part: watching the Jets beat the Broncos 34-16 from his couch at home."That's kind of a hard Authentic Yodny Cajuste Jersey , hard feeling," Rodgers said.To a man, the defensive players said they dedicated their play 鈥?and the victory 鈥?to Rodgers that day.He felt well enough to attend the game last Sunday at MetLife Stadium and was able to mingle with the players before kickoff. Rodgers then sat in the coaches' booth while wearing the radio headset, but was only what Bowles described as "a casual observer.""You never want to be a distraction to the team," Rodgers said. "Everybody else was having to pick up (the slack) with me away from the coaching staff. Todd had to do more and the rest of the assistants had to do more. For the players to know they've got a job to do, I feel like I'm hindering them."It was what Rodgers called a "weird" experience and added he didn't want to be "a detriment" to the team. After the game, several players such as Morris Claiborne, Darron Lee and Jamal Adams said seeing Rogers really lifted them up emotionally."That's priceless," Rodgers said. "To know they were thinking about me while they were trying to do their jobs really means a lot."Rodgers was also able to joke about the success Bowles had running the defense in his absence 鈥?both victories."Dang Yodny Cajuste Jersey Boys ," Rodgers said with a big laugh, "I need to stay away more often."NOTES: CBs Buster Skrine (concussion) and Trumaine Johnson (quadriceps), WRs Terrelle Pryor (groin) and Quincy Enunwa (sprained ankle), RB Isaiah Crowell (foot) and S Marcus Maye (broken thumb) didn't practice. Only Enunwa and Maye have already been ruled out against Minnesota. ... LB Kevin Pierre-Louis (foot) was limited after sitting out Wednesday. ... WR Robby Anderson (hamstring) and Leon Williams (back) were full after not practicing Wednesday, and C Spencer Long (knee/finger) was also full after being limited. ... RB De'Angelo Henderson was re-signed to the practice squad and LB Harvey Langi was played on practice squad injured reserve.

MIAMI GARDENS White Kelechi Osemele Jerseys , Fla. (AP) — Jerome Baker danced, waved, waggled his index finger and clicked his heels. For a first-year linebacker, it was a surprisingly polished touchdown celebration.Baker bested fellow rookie Sam Darnold, scoring the game's only TD on a 25-yard interception return with 11 minutes left, and a resilient defense helped the Miami Dolphins beat the hapless New York Jets 13-6 on Sunday.Darnold threw four interceptions and took four sacks, and the Jets went 2 for 15 on third and fourth down. The hobbled Dolphins (5-4) endured another wave of injuries and the mysterious departure of safety Reshad Jones, who pulled himself out of the game. But their defense was much improved after three consecutive poor games ."We never panicked; we knew what our defense was capable of," Baker said. "When we are executing and do our job and play together, we're one of the best defenses out there."The quality of the opposition helped the defense dominate, however, allowing Miami to win with only seven first downs.Darnold tried to rally the sputtering Jets (3-6) from a 6-3 deficit, but following a punt the rookie took a high snap and made an ill-advised throw to tight end Eric Tomlinson. Baker stepped in front for his first career interception and scored untouched."I didn't throw it with confidence," Darnold said. "I just alligator-armed it — threw it a little bit short."Much of the game was a slog, but Baker provided a video highlight celebrating with his teammates."There is nothing like it," he said, game ball cradled under his arm. "It is the sweetest feeling ever Kelechi Osemele Jerseys 2019 , especially getting in the end zone, seeing your brothers running toward you."T.J. McDonald and Walt Aikens made interceptions to end the Jets' final two possessions."The guys did a good job of complementary football," Dolphins coach Adam Gase said. "They played together. They did a good job of stopping the run and making it as one-dimensional as possible."Miami broke a two-game losing streak and won for only the second time in the past six games. Gase improved to 5-1 against the Jets, including two wins this year. The Jets lost their third in a row and have scored 33 points during the skid. They've dropped nine of their past 10 road games dating to 2017.Darnold went 21 for 39 for 229 yards and a passer rating of 31.8. He came into the game tied for the NFL lead with 10 interceptions , and the four picks were a new high."Two for sure he'd like to have back," coach Todd Bowles said. "Back to the drawing board."Cameron Wake and Akeem Spence had two sacks apiece for the Dolphins, who had allowed 102 points the previous three weeks."Everybody playing together, front to back side to side, and getting a win, that's about as rewarding as it is," Wake said.TO THE BENCHJones, whose tendency to freelance has been an issue, watched the second half from the sideline. Gase said he didn't know whether Jones was hurt."It sounds like he pulled himself out," Gase said. "I've just got to find out what happened there."Jones didn't talk to the media after the game.DOLPHINS SUBMiami totaled only 168 yards, but Brock Osweiler improved to 2-2 as a starter filling in for the injured Ryan Tannehill . Osweiler went 15 for 24 for 139 yards and took four sacks, but his unit committed no turnovers."It was just a good old-fashioned fight on the field, and it was fun White Jamison Crowder Jerseys ," Osweiler said. "We won."INJURY REPORTDolphins: LT Laremy Tunsil (knee) left in the fourth quarter. … RT Ja'Wuan James (knee) departed in the first half, but later returned. … CB Bobby McCain was evaluated for a concussion. … DE Robert Quinn limped off in the field in the closing minutes.Jets: C Spencer Long aggravated an injury to the middle finger of his right hand and had half a dozen off-target snaps before leaving the game. … Backup LB Tarell Basham (knee) left the game in the second half.FULL WEEKENDThe field looked worn but was not an issue less than 24 hours after the Miami Hurricanes and Duke played on it in a downpour.NATIONAL ANTHEMDolphins receiver Kenny Stills kneeled during the anthem and Quinn stood with his right fist raised, as they have done before other games.UP NEXTDolphins: play at Green Bay for the first time since 2010 on Nov. 11.Jets: play host to Buffalo on Nov. 11. The teams also meet on Dec. 9. NEW YORK (AP) — Todd Bowles is concerned about only one thing regarding his future with the New York Jets: the team’s next opponent.Despite all the rumors and expectations that the game Sunday at New England will be his last as coach of the franchise, Bowles refuses to publicly fuel any of the speculation that has seemed like an inevitable ending for weeks.“I do not talk about my job,” Bowles said during a conference call Monday.Plenty of other people do that for him, of course, with many fans and media already preparing for a coaching search and throwing out potential replacements for Bowles.Pro Football Talk reported Sunday night, citing an anonymous source, that the Jets plan to pursue Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh. Bowles said he had no response to the report, but the team issued a statement from acting chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson denying it.“Todd Bowles is our head coach,” Johnson said in the statement. “There is no truth to the report of our interest in Jim Harbaugh.”That, of course, doesn’t mean Bowles will, in fact, remain the coach moving forward. The Jets also might know the reality is Harbaugh has made it clear he intends to remain with the Wolverines.Harbaugh’s brother John, another name mentioned in speculation and rumors, will also not be on New York’s list after Baltimore announced last week it will sign him to a contract extension.Former Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy has been a much-discussed option on sports radio and social media Jamison Crowder Jerseys 2019 , and there will be plenty more names to consider over the next several days.Bowles remaining with the Jets, however, does not seem likely. He is about to finish his fourth season — all without a playoff appearance — and has a 24-39 overall record, including a 44-38 overtime loss to the Packers on Sunday.“Personally, I do not speak about my next job,” Bowles said. “I worry about tomorrow and when Christmas comes, and I worry about New England on Sunday and I go from there.”That’s not just lip service from Bowles, who has always been reserved about his private life and his job status since being hired by the Jets in 2015 to replace the fired Rex Ryan. Bowles has insisted on keeping the focus on his players, and not letting the outside chatter affect anyone inside his locker room.“That’s my only job,” the 55-year-old Bowles told The Associated Press in a recent interview. “Nothing else matters. They’re younger and they haven’t been through anything like this, so it’s up to me to make sure we approach it the right way and learn the things we need to learn, and it gets navigated the right way, and that’s my only job.“There’s nothing else to really lose sleep over.”To a man, the players have said Bowles has not strayed from that approach. They have praised his ability, despite all the swirling speculation, to not let any of it affect his preparation.“I can say that our minds and our focus is on the Patriots coming up this week,” left tackle Kelvin Beachum said. “We can’t worry about things going on outside our building. I think more guys are focused on making sure that they’re spending time with their families for Christmas. We don’t have time to really look at what the media has to say about what’s going on.“At the end of the day White Spencer Long Jerseys , it’s about this organization, about these players in this building.”When asked what Bowles has to say about it, Beachum said the coach has said nothing regarding his future.“He’s got us focused on the Patriots,” Beachum said. “That’s not something that is on top of mind right now. What’s on top of mind is finding a way to close out games. We’ll handle the rest when the season is over.”NOTES: After blasting officials for calling so many penalties on his team, included 16 accepted for a franchise-record 172 yards, Bowles said he had nothing more to add. “I said what I said, I meant everything I said,” Bowles said. “I’m done with it.” … Bowles said WR Jermaine Kearse injured an Achilles tendon and was going for X-rays. He had four catches for 55 yards before leaving against Green Bay. … WR Quincy Enunwa appears likely to end the season having missed the final three games with an ankle injury. When asked about Enunwa’s chances of playing at New England, Bowles said: “Slim. I haven’t talked to him yet, but I would say slim.” … Beachum and his family were treating people to lunch in his hometown of Mexia, Texas, to celebrate Christmas. Although Beachum can’t join them, he invited residents to stop by a local chicken and catfish eatery for a meal “to show holiday love to my hometown.”

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got the best of their division

rival New Orleans Saints in Week 1 Jordan Whitehead Jersey , shocking the entire league with a 48-40 win. Both team’s seasons have taken drastic turns since that game. Tampa Bay currently sits at 5-7 on the season and the Saints are 10-2, but that doesn’t mean the intensity will be absent from the field on Sunday. A win could drastically alter the course of the season for the Bucs. Can they get it done?OverviewAll-time series: The Saints lead 32-21 all-time. The Bucs are 9-14 at home and 12-18 on the road. Longest win streak: New Orleans won seven in a row from 2011-2014.Largest victory: Tampa Bay was shutout by a score of 41-0 back in 2012. 2018 offensive and defensive rankings: Tampa Bay is still the top offense in the league (1st pass, 26th run) and still sits at 27th in total defense (28th pass, 21st run). New Orleans has the league’s sixth best offense (12th pass, 9th run) and the 16th best defense (30th pass, 1st run).Carl Nassib should make his share of plays todayChuck Cook-USA TODAY SportsWhat to Watch forMike Evans vs. Marshon Lattimore, Part 4: Both players have gotten the best of each other since Lattimore arrived in the NFL last year. Who will prevail today?Tampa Bay’s and New Orleans’ pass rush: The Saints and Bucs are the top two teams in the league when it comes to creating pressure since Week 7. The Bucs’ secondary: It’s a little bit healthier this week, but the banged up unit will be key to today’s matchupNo turnovers: Outside of a very questionable call against Peyton Barber last week, the Bucs haven’t committed a single turnover the past two weeks. Impact PlayersTampa BayQB Jameis Winston: It starts and ends here for Tampa Bay. WR Mike Evans: He will be leaned on again with Desean Jackson out. TE Cameron Brate: I have a feeling Brate will be used in a big way today.DE Jason Pierre-Paul: Pierre-Paul has been a stud this season and the Bucs need him to keep it up today.DE Carl Nassib: How do the Browns feel right now? Nassib is a perfect for this defense and should have another good day.DB Andrew Adams: With multiple injuries in the secondary, Tampa Bay will need another big performance from Adams. Andrew Adams stepped up in a big way against the Panthers.Kim Klement-USA TODAY SportsNew OrleansQB Drew Brees: Do I really need to explain?RB Alvin Kamara: Do I really need to explain, again?RB Mark Ingram: Ok, I’ll elaborate here. The Bucs’ run defense has been garbage lately. Expect the Saints to pound the rock. DE Cameron Jordan: The Saints’ defensive end is picking it up and that’s never a good thing for opposing offensive tackles. LB Demario Davis: He’s been everything New Orleans hoped for when they signed him during the offseason. DB Marshon Lattimore: He will be one of the main factors in stopping Tampa Bay’s passing attackDrew Brees will be ready to bounce back after a bad game in Dallas.Chuck Cook-USA TODAY SportsCool StatsSince Week 7, the Buccaneers rank second in the NFL in sacks, tied for third in third-down percentage allowed and 10th in passing yards allowed per game during that span.WR Adam Humphries had his first career multi-touchdown game in Week 9 at Carolina, catching two scores. Since that time, he’s added three more touchdown catches Anthony Nelson Jersey , tying for the league lead during that span. He’s tied with Davante Adams and Travis Kelce for the lead with five touchdowns. Despite having played only 12 games, the team already ranks in the franchise’s top five in single-season passing yards and passing touchdowns, while ranking in the top 10 in total yards. The Bucs can surpass the all-time mark of 4,366 with 233 passing yards today. The Buccaneers have recorded at least four sacks in each of the past three games. With four or more sacks against New Orleans, the team will tie a team record for consecutive games with at least four sacks (also: 11/14/04 at ATL-12/5/04 vs. ATL).*stats provided by Tampa Bay Buccaneers Communication DepartmentGame OutlookWhile both teams’ outlook on the season has changed since Week 1, this is still a rivalry game in a divisional matchup. Tampa Bay knows what is at stake here and should come out ready to go. Anything is possible with the way the defense is playing right now. Add in the fact that the offense isn’t turning the ball over and all of sudden, Tampa Bay is a decent football team. If they can keep it up in those two regards, then we could be looking at a three-game winning streak. The Buccaneers have parted ways with wide receivers Adam Humphries and DeSean Jackson this offseason in a pair of moves that open the door for Chris Godwin to take on a bigger role in the offense.During this week’s league meetings, head coach Bruce Arians shared his thoughts on the role Godwin will be playing in the offense. According to Arians, it’s going to be a very big one.“I think Chris Godwin is going to be close to a 100-catch guy, especially because I think he can play in the slot,” Arians said, via the team’s website. “He’s never coming off the field.”Arians has never been afraid of a little hyperbole and seeing Godwin jump from 93 catches over two seasons to the century mark might qualify for an entry in that category. That said, there’s no one in front of him on the depth chart than Mike Evans and that should give Godwin every opportunity to take a big step forward in his third NFL season.

It’s the final portion of the offseason program before training camp in late-July. General manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan enter into Year 3 at the helm of the 49ers and their roster, still rebuilding, has several positions that are far from certain heading into the 2019 season. The competition at running back will be less about landing a roster spot and more about earning the backfield’s leading role. The locksThe 49ers signed Jerick McKinnon to a four-year, $30 million contract in March of 2018. After a promising training camp, McKinnon tore his ACL just days before the team’s Week 1 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings. The loss made drastic alterations to Shanahan’s plan for his offense. McKinnon is due $5.75 million in 2019, $5.7 of which is guaranteed. He’s expected to be ready for training camp. McKinnon’s contract and the opportunity to show his quality in Shanahan’s offense essentially guarantees a roster spot.Another competitor for the starting role will be Tevin Coleman, who the 49ers signed to a two-year, $8.5 million contract in the offseason. Coleman comes from Atlanta having experience in the 49ers’ offense under Shanahan, the Falcon’s offensive coordinator in 2016. Coleman rushed for 520 yards and eight touchdowns that year, while adding 421 yards and four touchdowns through the air. $3.25 of his $3.6 million contract is guaranteed this season, making Coleman another lock for the 49ers’ final roster. The competitorsThere’s a good chance the 49ers carry four running backs on the team’s final 53-man roster. Both Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert, although listed as competitors, have a very good shot at making the team. Breida earned the leading role after McKinnon’s injury and put on an impressive showing in 2018. He carried the ball 153 times for 814 yards and three touchdowns, adding 27 catches for 261 yards and two touchdowns in 2018. Breida’s 5.3 yards per carry was good for 4th among NFL running backs. Nagging injuries hampered Breida’s production last season, but if he can stay healthy, he’s in line for a significant role in the backfield in 2019.Mostert is the only 49ers running back that offers value on special teams, authoring several highlight plays in 2018. Mostert grew as a running back as the season went on as well. Against Green Bay in Week 6, Mostert totaled 12 carries for 87 yards. In Week 9 against the Oakland Raiders, he carried the ball seven times for 86 yards, including a 56-yard touchdown. He averaged 7.6 yards per carry on the season before suffering a broken forearm against the Raiders. Mostert may not be a major player in the battle for snaps in the backfield, but his special teams ability give him a good chance of making the roster.Jeff Wilson Jr. was promoted from the practice squad in Week 12 to reinforce the 49ers’ ailing group of running backs. With Breida battling an ankle injury, Wilson was given a significant number of snaps to close out the season. He totaled 66 carries for 266 yards and 12 catches for 98. Wilson is a long-shot to make the 49ers’ roster, given the impressive stable of starting talent in front of him. He’s a strong candidate to land on the practice squad. Undrafted rookie Austin Walter’s best chance at remaining with the team will be on the practice squad.Pending a surprise cut Bradley Pinion Jersey White , the competition at running back should be more about earning snaps over a spot. Shanahan seems perfectly content to keep four starting-caliber options after seeing his backfield decimated by injury in 2018. McKinnon, Coleman, Breida, all with similar skill sets, all have the opportunity to carve out their own role this season. Mostert’s primary contribution will be on special teams (not to be undervalued) while filling in as the backup. The 49ers’ backfield may be set, but there’s still plenty of competition heading into training camp. The team also confirmed the signing of former Rice RB Austin Walter"The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have signed LB LaRoy Reynolds to a one-year deal. The team also confirmed the signing of former Rice running back Austin Walter. To get back to a 90-man roster, the 49ers waived defensive lineman Ryan Delaire in a corresponding move. Delaire was originally signed to the 49ers practice squad on September 26, 2018 and was promoted to San Francisco’s active roster on October 6, 2018. He appeared in one game prior to being waived on October 15. Delaire re-signed to the team’s practice squad on October 17 and was promoted to the active roster on December 29, 2018.We spoke about Walter yesterday. Here’s the press release from the team on Reynolds:Reynolds (6-1, 240) originally signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent on May 3, 2013. Over the past six seasons with the Jaguars (2013-15), Chicago Bears (2015), Atlanta Falcons (2016-17) and Philadelphia Eagles (2018), he has appeared in 84 games (seven starts) and registered 59 tackles, two fumble recoveries and one pass defensed on defense to go along with 43 tackles and two fumble recoveries on special teams. He also appeared in seven career postseason contests and registered one tackle on defense as well as four tackles and two fumble recoveries on special teams. In 2018 with Philadelphia, he appeared in all 16 games and ranked second on the team with nine tackles on special teams. He also appeared in two postseason games and registered one tackle on both defense and special teams. A 28-year-old native of Norfolk, VA, Reynolds spent four seasons (2009-12) at the University of Virginia. With the Cavaliers, he appeared in 45 games and earned All-ACC Honorable Mention honors as a senior in 2012 after finishing with 90 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, four passes defensed and 1.0 sack.

Detroit had a botched snap on an extra point and a missed 48-yard field goal by Matt Prater Eddie Yarbrough Jerseys 2019 , two very costly mistakes in a game they would go on to lose, 14-13.Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen only gained 16 yards on the ground, but he scored a rushing touchdown, threw a passing touchdown and didn’t have any turnovers in a solid performance. Considering that the Bills’ running backs were devastated by injuries, Allen had to do most of it himself, and he did a solid job.For the Lions, wide receiver Kenny Golladay was outstanding, with 147 receiving yards, but the rest of the offense was disappointing. Detroit has had a disappointing season, and it wouldn’t be surprising if head coach Matt Patricia fires offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter at the end of the year. The loss leaves both teams at 5-9 on the season. The Buffalo Bills were not a team that had much fantasy football relevance for a good part of the 2018 NFL season. Through the season’s first ten weeks, things were bleak. The team scored 96 points over that span, a pathetic number that included a shutout and scores of 3, 5, 6, and 9. The Bills improved greatly beginning in Week 10, scoring 40 points twice and over 20 points twice more. With that overall improvement came an increase in fantasy football use for certain Buffalo players. While some old stalwarts showed signs of decline, some young players rose to success in their place. Here are the best of the best for the Bills in terms of fantasy football performance from 2018.QB Josh AllenThe rookie quarterback essentially lived a “tale of two seasons” throughout his first campaign. Before his injury, he was a fantasy football afterthought White Jordan Mills Jerseys , scoring 67.78 fantasy points over the course of four whole games and two partial ones (the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens and the game in which he was injured against the Houston Texans). He scored 27.74 of those points in one game, Buffalo’s 27-6 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3. After Allen recovered from his elbow injury, however, he came back with a vengeance. Allen scored 152.28 total fantasy points over his final six games, which more than doubled his season average prior to suffering the injury—he averaged 11.3 fantasy points per game in his first six games, and he averaged 25.38 points per game in his final six. While his rookie season was by no means a perfect one, he did show himself to be a bona fide QB1 in the season’s final month and a half. When comparing him to the other rookie quarterbacks, Allen’s fantasy season is especially impressive. Baker Mayfield led the rookies in fantasy scoring, as the Cleveland Browns quarterback compiled 254.1 fantasy points in 14 games. Allen was a close second, scoring a total of 220.06 fantasy points in only 12 games, two of which were partial contests. Mayfield finished 16th overall among quarterbacks; Allen was 21st. The next-highest scorer among the rookie quarterbacks was Sam Darnold of the New York Jets, who only managed 183.4 fantasy points over 13 games. In terms of average scoring per game, however, Allen was the leading rookie quarterback, barely edging out Mayfield (18.34 points per game compared to 18.15 points per game). Allen’s mark was good for 17th among quarterbacks, while Mayfield came in at 20th overall. By any objective measure, Allen was able to put together a great finish to his rookie season, and by using his arm (10 touchdown passes Jordan Mills Jerseys 2019 , 2,074 yards) and, more importantly for fantasy purposes, his legs (631 yards rushing, 8 touchdowns), he earned a spot on the fantasy radar for 2019.WR Zay JonesSpeaking of players who positioned themselves well for the future, Buffalo’s second-year wide receiver had a much better season in 2018 than he did in 2017. It would have been hard to have been worse than Jones was as a rookie, as he only managed to catch 27 passes (on 74 targets for an abysmal 36.5% catch rate) for 316 yards and 2 touchdowns. This year, Jones improved across the board, and while his catch rate still left room for growth, his overall numbers were far better.Jones was targeted 102 times, the top number on the roster by a long shot (Kelvin Benjamin, who only played in 12 games and wasn’t even on the roster in the season’s final month, was second with 62 targets). Jones made 56 catches (54.9% catch rate) for 652 yards and 7 touchdowns. All of those numbers led the Bills in 2018. While none of those statistics are eye-popping, they do show great improvement, and evidence of chemistry between Jones and Allen is encouraging.Jones scored a total of 137.2 fantasy points this season, and over the team’s final five games, he mixed in some great performances (multi-touchdown games against the Miami Dolphins and a garbage-time explosion against the New England Patriots) with some duds (a combined 4 catches for 33 yards in games against the New York Jets and Detroit Lions). Bills receivers aren’t usually highly-sought fantasy football commodities White Lorenzo Alexander Jerseys , and Jones definitely shouldn’t be one heading into next year. However, if the Bills add another outside receiver in the off-season, thereby allowing Jones to do damage in the slot once again, he could be a sneaky-good pickup as a possession-type with upside next year.WR Robert FosterSpeaking of players with upside, Buffalo’s undrafted rookie gem went from an afterthought on his college offense to a legitimate weapon in his first year in the NFL. Foster gained more yards this season than he did in his entire four-year career with the Alabama Crimson Tide. He had 541 yards receiving in 13 games this season, while he had 389 yards receiving in 35 games in college. He even equaled his touchdown production, scoring three times, while only falling short of his college reception total (35) by eight passes (he caught 27 this year). Among all players with at least 25 catches, Foster had the best average per reception in the league, with 20 yards per catch this season. Often, players who are dependent on the deep ball are risky pickups in fantasy football, but Foster seems to be a great developmental find on the part of the Bills. As the year progressed, his route running improved, and he did much more than just catch bombs. Foster had three 100-yard receiving games, and mixed another game of 94 yards in there for good measure. While he only scored 85.6 fantasy points on the season, the majority of his work came in the year’s second half. Through the first nine weeks of the season, Foster had 2 catches for 30 yards. From Week 10 onward, he totaled 25 receptions for 511 yards and 3 touchdowns. Heading into 2019 Lorenzo Alexander Jerseys 2019 , Foster could be a great pickup late in your draft.RB LeSean McCoyIt can’t all be sunshine and rainbows, right? The veteran running back, whose average draft position in Yahoo! leagues was 17th overall, was one of the biggest busts of the fantasy football year. If you used a second-round pick on McCoy, chances are good that you were very disappointed this season. The veteran running back set career lows in essentially all major categories. He managed 514 rushing yards, 3 touchdowns, and a 3.2 yards-per-carry average. He only caught 34 passes for 228 yards, and he failed to score a receiving touchdown for the first time since 2014. McCoy’s 110.2 fantasy points placed him 38th among running backs, right behind Doug Martin and right ahead of Leonard Fournette—who only played in eight games. While the Bills seem intent on bringing McCoy back next season, hoping for a bounce-back year with an offensive line that the team will certainly look to upgrade, it’s hard to suggest drafting McCoy in fantasy football and expecting the same kind of recovery. McCoy turns 31 in July, and he has right around 2,800 touches on his career. This kind of slowdown isn’t exactly uncommon for running backs of his age and usage, so it’s hard to see Shady producing at the same level as in years’ past.

Today, let’s turn our attention to the other one. That would be Reggie White Jr. of nearby Monmouth. The basicsHeight: 6-foot-2Weight: 208Age: 23Position: Wide receiverExperience: 0How he got hereIn the end, it’s a pretty simple story. The Giants tried harder, they paid more attention to White while he was at Monmouth than any other NFL team did.“They’ve been the most in contact with me, called me the week before the draft just to check on me, see how things were going. Called me during the draft,” White said. “Coming to practice Aldrick Rosas Jersey , things like that. They’ve been around for a minute.”to East Rutherford was well spent. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Tom Coughlin wants no part of the spotlight this week.He has declined several interview requests as Jacksonville prepares to open the season against Coughlin’s former team, the New York Giants. Coughlin is entering his second year as Jacksonville’s executive vice president of football operations, working mostly behind the scenes.Coughlin’s sure to get extra attention Sunday when he faces the Giants for the first time since his resignation as head coach in January 2016.“I don’t spend any time thinking about that,” Coughlin said in April, the day after the NFL schedule was released. “We knew the teams we were going to play. We didn’t know the order, so to go to New York for the opening of the season, it’ll be an exciting atmosphere obviously. It’s Opening Day, so everybody will be excited Womens Janoris Jenkins Jersey , everybody will look forward to the opportunity to go to New York and play against a very good football team.”The Jaguars enter the season with arguably the highest expectations in franchise history, and the 72-year-old Coughlin has played a significant role in the team’s rise from perennial loser to preseason favorite in the AFC South.Coughlin’s presence and prowess reshaped every aspect of the team, far beyond setting the clocks five minutes ahead.Discipline, accountability, legitimacy, Coughlin brought all of them with him when he returned to the team he helped build in 1995. His reputation was established in Jacksonville, where he was the franchise’s first head coach (1995-2002) and the One Voice who made every decision — from who threw the passes to who ran the salary cap to what color paint was on the walls. His resume, though, was enhanced in New York thanks to two Super Bowl victories in 12 seasons. As the league changed Riley Dixon Jersey , so did Coughlin. He became less of an unbending taskmaster, focusing more on Xs and Os than off-the-field nuances. His fingerprints remain on the Giants roster even though he’s been gone 2 ½ years.“Some franchises haven’t won a Super Bowl, and he helped this franchise win two,” first-year Giants coach Pat Shurmur said. “He was here for 12 years. A lot of the people here worked with him his whole time here.”Shurmur reached out to Coughlin “just to gain some perspective” shortly after getting the job in January.“I admire him in a lot of ways for who he is as a man and what he’s done as a coach,” said Shurmur, who is planning to attend Coughlin’s charity gala later this month in New York City. “A lot of what I know about Tom I get a chance to hear about here frequently.”Giants quarterback Eli Manning expects to chat with Coughlin on the field before kickoff.“Obviously still have a great relationship with coach Coughlin and cherish the time that we had and appreciate those 12 years of him being my head coach,” Manning said. “But besides that, I look at this game and say it’s the Giants against the Jaguars, and I’m trying to get our offense prepared to go against that defense.”Coughlin and Marrone have an old-school team constructed around one of the league’s best defenses http://www.giantslockerroom.com/authentic-mario-edwards-jr-jersey , a unit that returns 12 of its top 14 players and expects to carry the Jags back to the playoffs. It’s also part of the featured matchup Sunday: Manning, star receiver Odell Beckham and rookie running back Saquon Barkley against Jacksonville’s vaunted front, All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey and two of the fastest linebackers in the league.“It’s more of us living up to what we expect,” Jaguars Pro Bowl linebacker Telvin Smith said. “Even when the show gets started, a lot of people’s narratives might change. But ours is not; ours is going to stay the same. … We expect to go out and be great and dominate games.”It starts Sunday in New York, against the Giants and in conjunction with Coughlin’s under-the-radar return.“Definitely we’d like to win this game just regardless,” Jaguars All-Pro defensive end Calais Campbell said. “But it’d feel even better for TC, and we’ll try to get it done for him.”

They say a defendant's estate should be able to pursue an appeal if they wish or the verdict should stand.Hernandez's lawyers are urging the court to keep the practice in place.Hernandez killed himself last year after his acquittal in two other slayings. FOXBOROUGH, Mass. The Patriots finished 9-0 at home this season. It is the 13th conference championship game appearance by the Patriots during the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era.“It’s going to be a good game,” Brady said of the rematch with the Chiefs. “They’re a good team. We played them earlier this year. I know everybody thinks we suck and, you know, we can’t win any games, so we’ll see. It’ll be fun.”The Chargers (13-5) haven’t reached the AFC title game since the 2007 season.Quarterback Philip Rivers finished 25 of 51 for 331 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. It was the longest touchdown of Allen’s career, including the postseason. It turned out to be just a blip. The Chargers punted the four other times they had the ball in the first half. The Patriots were efficient throughout the opening 30 minutes Joejuan Williams Buffalo Bills Jersey , going 5 for 5 in the red zone, 5 of 6 on third down and committing only one penalty.New England didn’t go three-and-out for the first time until its fifth offensive touch of the day when it punted with 3:32 left in the second quarter. But Ryan Allen‘s 48-yard punt was fumbled by Desmond King , sending the ball rolling toward the sideline. The referees ruled the ball went out of bounds before New England’s Albert McClellan appeared to recover it. But the play was reversed after a challenge by Bill Belichick. The turnover proved costly, with the Patriots scoring just four plays later when Michel crossed the goal line from 5 yards for his third touchdown of the half.New England established the run early, creating big holes in a Chargers defense that ended the regular season ranked ninth in the NFL, allowing just 106 rushing yards per game.Michel carried 16 times for 105 yards in the first half.He set the tone early, scoring from 1 yard on the opening possession of the game. It capped a 14-play, 83-yard drive in which he rushed five times for 15 yards and had a 9-yard reception. The Patriots added scoring drives of 67 Color Rush Joejuan Williams Jersey , 58, 87 and 35 yards.MILESTONESMichel became just the second Patriots rookie in franchise history to have a rushing touchdown in the postseason. He joined fellow Georgia alum, Robert Edwards, who ran for a touchdown as a rookie in New England’s 1998 wild-card loss to Jacksonville.Michel also became the first New England player with two rushing TDs in the first quarter of a playoff game since LeGarrette Blount did it in the 2013 divisional-round win against Indianapolis.Brady extended his postseason record with his 15th career 300-yard passing game. Next is Peyton Manning with nine.STREAKINGBrady has a touchdown pass in 13 straight postseason games, tied for the third-longest streak since 1950. Only Brett Favre (20) and Brady himself (18 from 2001-11) have longer streaks.INJURIESChargers: Safety Adrian Phillips was helped off the field early in the first quarter with an arm injury, but returned. Receiver Mike Williams jogged off the field after a collision in the first quarter.Patriots: Guard Shaq Mason left the game in the fourth quarter.

FLORHAM PARK White Brandon Shell Jerseys , N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets‘ starting quarterback against the Buffalo Bills is … still to be determined. All signs indicate it will be rookie Sam Darnold under center after he was a full participant at practice all week following missing three games with a strained right foot. Coach Todd Bowles declined, however, to announce Friday whether it will be Darnold or Josh McCown."We'll decide that on Sunday," Bowles said. "Between him and Josh, they both had good weeks." If Darnold plays, it would be his first game action since being injured against Miami on Nov. 4. Darnold was replaced the last three games by McCown, who had one touchdown pass and four interceptions while the Jets went 0-3.McCown fully participated in practice Friday after being limited Wednesday and Thursday by a sore back. The 21-year-old Darnold is healthy, but Bowles' decision will be about whether the rookie has his timing back after a three-game layoff."Just us deciding whether he's ready or not," Bowles said. The coach added that Darnold being a full participant all week and McCown being limited most of the week wouldn't play a factor in the final decision."They all were limited last week Brandon Shell Jerseys 2019 , and Josh played," Bowles said. "At this point in the season, I can put about 40 guys on there (injury report) limited that'll play."Bowles shed little light on what would go into the team's decision-making process. When asked what he saw from Darnold this week that he liked, he said simply: "Just that he was healthy."Despite the cloak-and-dagger gamesmanship, Darnold is fully expected to take the field against Buffalo to face fellow rookie Josh Allen.Darnold acknowledged that the final four games are important for him and the rest of the team, which is in the midst of a six-game skid, to finish on a positive note. Bowles said there are things Darnold can improve on as his first NFL season draws to a close."Well, everything," Bowles said. "Obviously White Eric Tomlinson Jerseys , as a rookie quarterback you're going to have improve on everything every week, and that's any one of our rookies at any position. He's got to get better with reads, and he will with playing time and everything else and progressions and getting in and out of the huddle, which he had been doing a good job at before he got hurt."Darnold has thrown for 1,934 yards, second to Cleveland's Baker Mayfield, among rookies. He has 11 touchdown passes along with the 14 INTs, but his 55.0 completion percentage and 68.3 quarterback rating rank near the bottom of the league.Offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates thinks there might have been some benefit to Darnold watching for three games and resetting himself for the final stretch."Just sitting back, sitting and watching Josh Eric Tomlinson Jerseys 2019 , how fast he gets to Nos. 2, 3 (in his reads), the progression and how he recognizes defenses and moves off of No. 1 and the tempo of the game," Bates said. "I think the biggest thing is he experienced the first part of the season, then being able to sit and watch Josh execute the game plan, I think it's going to be worthwhile."Whether it's Darnold or McCown running the offense Sunday against the Bills, they could be without a few key playmakers.Linebacker Darron Lee was suspended for four games by the NFL on Friday for violating the substance abuse policy.Wide receiver Robby Anderson is questionable with an ankle injury that limited him the last two days of practice after fully participating Wednesday. Running back Isaiah Crowell, who leads the team with 680 yards rushing, is also questionable with a toe injury. One positive was that he was limited Friday after sitting out the previous two practices. Also questionable are cornerback Buster Skrine (shoulder/hip) and tight end Jordan Leggett (knee). Bowles' said Skrine was sore Friday White Darryl Roberts Jerseys , so the team limited him at practice. Winston ran up the middle, close to the 10. He then pitched the ball to Adam Humphries, who bobbled and juggled the ball for a brief moment before pushing it to Mike Evans, who made a jump-pass on a bounce toward Jackson, but Jackson couldn’t make the catch.Jackson might have had an open lane to the end zone and a possible game-winning touchdown if the ball had bounced into his hands. Instead, it went out of bounds as the final seconds left the clock.Jackson said he might have successfully fielded the ball “if I was playing baseball, if I was playing Major League Baseball.”His anguish was obvious as pulled off his helmet, kicked the pylon and kept walking to the end zone in front of cheering Falcons fans.“No way we should have lost to this team,” Jackson said. “We’re a way better team than what we showed today. You have to overcome those bumps and I think that’s what we can do with this game. We have to get over this. We have to put this game behind us.”Winston completed 30 of 41 passes for 395 yards and four touchdowns in his first start of the season, but he also threw two interceptions.“Yes, it was a tough loss in the division, but we’re still in a good spot,” he said. “It’s still the beginning of the season and we have to execute better, I have to protect the football and we will win games.”

The San Francisco 49ers announced a pair of roster moves on Tuesday.

They have waived wide receiver Victor Bolden and cornerback Greg Mabin. The team made no corresponding roster moves Tevin Coleman Jersey White , which leaves them with two open roster spots. The two open roster spots will likely be for safety Marcell Harris and LB/DE Dekoda Watson. Harris is on the NFI list and Watson is injured reserve. Both had their practice windows activated, and are eligible to start playing this week. The team has until 1 p.m. PT on Thursday to activate the two of them.Head coach Kyle Shanahan announced on Tuesday that Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder) is “probably doubtful” for Thursday and Antone Exum (concussion) is out. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said that Tyvis Powell would get the start at strong safety if Tartt and Exum did not play, but Harris would be the first guy off the bench behind him.The 49ers linebacker depth chart could need Watson because of Reuben Foster’s hamstring injury. Malcolm Smith is currently playing the strong side linebacker position, but if Foster cannot go, Smith might move back to the weak side. If that happens, Watson could move in at SAM. Elijah Lee is an option at WILL as well.Add all that to word that C.J. Beathard is not practicing on Tuesday, and the short week is a rough one for the 49ers.Update: The 49ers have released the Tuesday injury report 49ersDid Not Participate In PracticeQB C.J. (AP) — Eli Manning showed he still has what it takes to lead the kind of game-winning drive that earned him two Super Bowl MVP awards.Manning capped a 75-yard drive with a 3-yard touchdown pass to Sterling Shepard with 53 seconds left and the New York Giants snapped a five-game losing streak by beating the San Francisco 49ers 27-23 on Monday night.“It doesn’t get old,” said Manning, whose 36 game-winning drives are the third most in the NFL since he entered the league in 2004. “It’s fun. It’s fun playing in those games and having a two-minute drive to win it. Those are the situations you want to be in. You want to have a chance.”The Giants (2-7) have failed to capitalize on those late-game situations this season, losing five games by seven or fewer points as part of a disappointing stretch that has put the 37-year-old Manning’s status as starting quarterback in question. But Manning delivered against the 49ers (2-8) to give New York a much-needed win.“That’s what Eli is really good at, engineering those come-from-behind drives,” coach Pat Shurmur said. “That was terrific. He hung in there and made some really good throws and got us into the end zone. That’s the sign of a good quarterback.”Manning threw two TD passes to Odell Beckham Jr. and then engineered the late game-winning drive with help from a pair of third-down penalties against Malcolm Smith and Ahkello Witherspoon.Saquon Barkley then had a 23-yard catch to get the ball into the red zone and Manning connected with Shepard on third down to give the Giants the win.“I just saw man-to-man coverage,” Shepard said. “That’s something we’ve been practicing. I was able to capture the outside edge and Eli put the ball in a perfect place.”Matt Breida ran for 101 yards and scored two touchdowns for the 49ers (2-8), who were unable to win consecutive games under third-string quarterback Nick Mullens. Breida’s 23-yard run helped set up a 30-yard field goal by Robbie Gould that gave the Niners a 23-20 lead with 2:46 to play. But the 49ers allowed the go-ahead score and couldn’t pull it out at the end as Mullens’ pass from the Giants 21 sailed out of the end zone on the final play.“Those are the plays you have to make to finish the game,” Mullens said. “That was a moment of truth, and I didn’t get the job done. I have to play better in those moments of truth. We all have to play better.”Mullens wasn’t nearly as sharp as he was in his NFL debut against the Raiders on Nov. 1 when he joined Hall of Famers Jim Kelly and Fran Tarkenton as the only players with at least 250 yards passing Joshua Garnett Jersey White , three touchdown passes and no interceptions in the first career game.Mullens threw for 250 yards and had an 11-yard TD pass to Breida that made it 20-10 early in the third quarter. But Mullens also threw two interceptions with the first setting up a 10-yard TD pass from Manning to Beckham .Those two connected again on a 20-yard score in the third quarter as New York rallied from 10 points down to tie the game in the second half.HARD HITNiners receiver Marquise Goodwin was hit in the helmet by Alec Ogletree on a catch late in the third quarter and briefly left the game. On his first play back in to start the fourth quarter, a pass from Mullens deflected off Goodwin’s hands for the second interception of the game by B.J. Goodson . Goodwin was slow to get up after that play and went back into the medical tent for observation. Goodwin returned to the game later in the fourth quarter.BAD REACTIONWitherspoon got beat on Beckham’s second TD catch and immediately threw his hands up in disgust because he didn’t get the safety help he expected from Antone Exum. Teammate Richard Sherman and coaches talked to Witherspoon on the sideline to tell him not to show up a teammate.“Man up. Don’t put that on tape,” coach Kyle Shanahan said. “We’ll deal with that when we come in.”CENTURY MARKBarkley rans for 67 yards and added 33 receiving to join Eric Dickerson as the only players since the merger to gain at least 100 yards from scrimmage in eight of their first nine career games.MISSED OPPORTUNITYThe Giants entered the game converting just 40 percent of their red zone trips into TDs. They missed a golden opportunity for one late in the first half. On a third down from the 3, the 49ers left Beckham unguarded in the slot but Manning stuck with a run play to Barkley that gained only 1 yard. New York settled for a field goal that tied the game at 10.PLAYING FOR PARADISENiners GM John Lynch welcomed the high school football team from Paradise, a town destroyed by the wildfires in Butte County, about 175 miles north. Players and cheerleaders from the school were on the field for the national anthem. The Niners raised more than $100,000 to support relief and recovery efforts. The air quality for the game was at an unhealthy level because of the fires. The Air Quality Index was at 161 at kickoff, which is in the unhealthy zone, and smoke could be smelled throughout the stadium. The NFL had monitored the situation but the AQI never got near 200, the level where the game would have needed to be moved.UP NEXTGiants: Host Tampa Bay on Sunday.49ers: Visit Tampa Bay on Nov. 25.

(AP)Bills defensive end Lorenzo Alexander is ready to give rookie first-round pick Josh Allen the benefit of the doubt based on how apologetic the former Wyoming quarterback has been acknowledging a series of racially insensitive tweets he posted while still in high school.Alexander, a respected team leader, expects his teammates to do the same and provide Allen a fair opportunity to clear the air.”He has shown maturity to own it. He wrote those words. He’s not using a cop-out,” Alexander said Friday.”I think the biggest thing now is to earn the respect of his teammates by the way he comes in and works. And when guys ask him, just being open and honest about it,” he added. ”And I think most guys will accept his answer based on who he is.”Allen agreed when informed of Alexander’s comments, and is eagerly awaiting the opportunity.Twice repeating the phrase ”as soon as possible,” Allen called it important to apologize for what he posted and show Bills players who he is today.”It’s something that I wouldn’t be afraid or ashamed of doing Womens Jason Croom Jersey ,” he said upon arriving at the team’s facility a day after Buffalo traded up five spots in the NFL draft order to select Allen with the seventh pick.”I put it on my shoulders,” he added. ”I made a mistake and I just want them to know who I am, because once they get to know who I am, I think they’re going to like what they see.”Allen traveled to Buffalo along with fellow first-round draft pick, Tremaine Edmunds. The Bills traded up six spots to select the Virginia Tech linebacker with the 16th pick. The trades left Buffalo with just the 96th pick on Friday, with which they selected Stanford defensive tackle Harrison Phillips. He’s listed at 6-foot-3 and 307 pounds and was a two-year starter with the Cardinal. Phillips led Stanford with 103 tackles while adding 7 1/2 sacks and earned first-team Pac-12 honors in his senior season last year.Phillips will have a chance to develop in Buffalo on a defensive line that features two veteran starters in Kyle Williams and offseason free-agent addition Star Lotulelei.Allen has been the focus of attention since Wednesday night, when Yahoo Sports reported the quarterback sent the now-deleted tweets in 2012 and 2013. They contained racially insensitive language and offensive statements. He has repeatedly apologized for the posts, while saying he was ”young and dumb” in parroting rap lyrics and catchphrases from TV and pop culture.Allen also expressed relief in how the Bills stuck by him in making him only the franchise’s fourth quarterback to be drafted in the first round. The selection only happened after general manager Brandon Beane spent much of Thursday speaking with Allen http://www.thebillslockerroom.com/authentic-star-lotulelei-jersey , his coaches and former teammates to be reassured of the player’s character.Allen acknowledged becoming emotional during a half-hour phone conversation with Beane.”I just really wanted him to know the type of person I was,” he said. ”I was embarrassed by everything that happened. It’s something that I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy.”Coach Sean McDermott said he consulted with his team leaders once Allen’s tweets became public, while informing them of the possibility of the quarterback being selected.”We take these things seriously in respect to adding any player,” McDermott said. ”And when this came up, it went to another level.”Alexander said the Bills established a strong leadership group last year in confronting various issues – from a major roster overhaul to finding consensus on how to handle anthem protests. They finished 9-7 to end a 17-year playoff drought which the longest active streak in North America’s four major professional sports.Alexander said Bills defensive end Eddie Yarbrough vouched for Allen after the two played together at Wyoming in 2015.”I respect Eddie and his opinion,” Alexander said. ”So I would be foolish not to extend grace in getting to know this young man who’s coming into our locker room.”It wasn’t lost on Alexander, either, that the Bills previously welcomed Richie Incognito after the offensive guard was out of football for 18 months following his role in the Miami Dolphins’ bullying scandal in 2013. Incognito became a Bills leader before abruptly announcing his retirement this month.”I don’t see why this situation can’t be any different Rafael Bush Jersey ,” he said.”I think we have a strong locker room. We have leaders who promote healthy conversation,” Alexander said. ”We will move past this. And we’ll look back and it won’t even seem like it was as big as it was made out to be.”— Buffalo Bills rookie linebacker Tremaine Edmunds has been ruled out for the rest of the game against the New England Patriots with a concussion. He took a powerful blow from fullback James Develin, which seems like the most obvious play for the injury.Replacing Edmunds in the lineup was Julian Stanford, who hasn’t seen any time on defense this season. Edmunds has played every snap for Buffalo this season heading into this game.Edmunds made his presence felt early in the game, nearly intercepting a Tom Brady pass but still knocking down the ball intended for Rob Gronkowski. He also had great closing speed on a tackle for a loss. He had eight tackles already in the game before being removed.Buffalo’s defense has been stout, holding Brady and the Patriots offense in check all game. When Edmunds was still in the game, New England managed just three field goals through the midway point of the third quarter.

There was plenty we already knew about the 2018 Giants that was confirmed in this mess of a Monday night game:The third iteration of the rebuilt offenisve line is bad. The Giants have all the firepower they can ask for in Odell Beckham Jr., Sterling Shepard, and Saquon Barkley. They are also utterly incapable of consistently putting it to use. The Giants’ defense is flawed, but tries hard and shouldn’t be blamed for their losing record. However, there were some things that we learned.Eli can still throw down the fieldThe Giants signaled that they were going to be aggressive with their receivers when the first pass of the game was a 10-yard play to Beckham. The Giants were cautious in their use of Saquon Barkley, but finally showed a willingness to challenge a poor secondary with Beckham and Sterling Shepard. Manning completed 71 percent of his passes, finishing with 399 yards passing and a yards per attempt of 10.5, his highest of the season. While the Giants did get good runs after the catch from both Beckham and Shepard, Manning also looked down the field far more than he had against the Eagles. Eli’s game was far from perfect, but it was nice to see him threaten a defense down the field, even in the face of pressure — Something the Giants largely have not done this season. We won’t know whether or not the Giants can sustain I’ve said it before Infant Christopher Slayton Jersey , and I’ll say it again: Eli Manning just looks like a different quarterback when he has the option to attack a defense, rather than just take what it gives him.The Giants can’t play in the red zoneFor all the Giants’ offensive firepower, it shouldn’t really surprise that they are utterly inept in the red zone. The short field that comes with play in the red zone has a bunch of effects on the game. Everything is sped up because offenses simply can’t stretch defenses out they way can between the 20s. Secondaries don’t have to cover as much space, receivers don’t have as much space in which to work, and passing windows are smaller. The red zone is the area of the field in which all the little problems elsewhere on the field rear their heads at once, and the Giants have plenty of them. Slight miscommunications are magnified and being just off-target becomes wildly inaccurate. And small lapses in blocking can become drive-killing mistakes. The Giants routinely do all of these on offense, and it shows in Red Zone play which is just bad. It isn’t as simple as just having a big receiver — Both Sterling Shepard and Odell Beckham are capable of playing far larger than they measure thanks to their quickness and 40-inch vertical leaps. Evan Engram was a premier red zone threat in 2017, but he isn’t used in the same way in this offense. The Giants’ offensive line can’t hold up or create any kind of room for Barkley to run the ball. Poor play calls and miscommunications waste opportunities. The Giants have a lot of little (and some very big) problems which compound and magnify each other, and need to be solved individually before they will have consistent success in the Red Zone. The pass rush might have some lifeThe Giants came in to Monday night with the worst pass rush in the NFL. Granted it was against an offensive line that has done about as good a job of In Olivier Vernon’s second game back, the Giants’ pass rush finally started to show some life. With Olivier Vernon giving the Falcons’ offensive line a legitimate pass rush threat to worry about, the Giants’ other rushers began to find some success, with Kerry Wynn, Lorenzo Carter Christopher Slayton Jersey Draft , Mario Edwards (negated by a defensive holding penalty), all getting to Ryan. James Bettcher also mixed in plenty of schemed pressure with some aggressive blitz calls, which forced Matt Ryan to speed up his process. For the third time this season the Giants’ defense did enough for the team to win. They held an offense which had averaged nearly 30 points a game to 23, and gave the offense opportunity after opportunity to win the game. And once again, the Giants’ offense failed to capitalize. It remains to be seen if the Giants can repeat the defensive feat against the Washington Redskins’ talented offensive line, but for now it was good to see.Pat Shurmur’s bad decisions continueGiants’ head coach Pat Shurmur has made curious, or downright bad, decisions throughout the season. There was consternation regarding Shurmur’s decision to go for 2 points on the team’s first touchdown. That call made sense from a math perspective — best case, the next score would be for the win, worst case it was still a one score game. The move also signaled to his team that he IS trying to win the game, something that his offensive scheme hasn’t always indicated. THAT decision wound up being moot, as the team scored another touchdown and completed a second 2-point conversion attempt. MUCH more egregious, Shurmur called a pair of quarterback sneaks in the final minute with the Giants out of time outs and desperately trying to mount a comeback. Manning took advantage of a bad Falcons offense to get the Giants in scoring position in a flash. But with no timeouts remaining Christopher Slayton NFL Jersey , the Giants had to score, and quickly. Failing that, they needed to get the clock stopped. Instead, the Giants ran a pair of quarterback sneaks with an offensive line that had been utterly dominated all game long. This is on top of the schematic decision to not use Saquon Barkley as a downfield passing threat. Barkley was targeted plenty, 10 times, catching 9. But on those targets, he only got 51 yards, with a long of 14. Shurmur flatly refused to send Barkley down the field in a game where Sterling Shepard had 167 receiving yards and Odell Beckham 143 and a touchdown. With Giants quarterback Eli Manning struggling again, some are suggesting that former Giants coach Ben McAdoo had something positive cooking under that head full of Brylcreem. (And/or something up the sleeve of that giant suit jacket.)Yes, some are saying McAdoo was right last year when he abruptly benched Manning for Geno Smith. The voices making that argument include, you guessed it, current Chargers backup Geno Smith.“Y’all owe my boy Mac an apology,” Smith declared Friday morning on Twitter. It’s not a surprising take Christopher Slayton NFL Draft , but it’s incorrect. McAdoo was not a good head coach. He wasn’t a good head coach in part because he didn’t understand that the job is about much more than Xs and Os. The slicked-back hair and the David Byrne blazer became obvious evidence of a deeper failure to understand the importance of appearances for NFL head coaches. And it’s much more than how a guy combs his hair or wears his clothes. McAdoo never understood the importance of properly selling big decisions, like the sudden benching Manning for a journeyman who had no more of a chance to be part of the solution for the team than I did. McAdoo should have spent time building a clear consensus inside the building. He (or someone else) should have been talking to local and national media members in advance of the move, nudging them toward writing and talking about a benching with the promise of being proven right becoming the lure. He should have been working with team P.R. employees to come up with other ideas for planting the seed that the time had come for Eli to take a back seat, and for getting the fans to get behind it.So while McAdoo may have been right about Eli’s performance, McAdoo was wrong in every way he handled it. He was so wrong that it feels like the new regime may have no choice but to wait for Eli to retire — or to wait for enough of a groundswell to emerge among a fanbase that is willing to keep giving him the benefit of the doubt to reach the conclusion that he needs to go.As an already-lost season continues to unfold, the proof may continue to emerge that Manning needs to make his exit. Maybe he’ll do it on his own. Or maybe the Giants will simply make the decision and live with the consequences. They should have made the decision in the offseason, either by taking a quarterback with the second overall pick in the draft or by signing one of the various free-agent options (Case Keenum thrived under new coach Pat Shurmur in Minnesota) and still taking running back Saquon Barkley at No. 2. But the bungling of the situation by Ben McAdoo last year took that option off the table and forced Shurmur and Dave Gettleman to renew the franchise’s vows with Eli.Now, they have to decide between waiting for Eli to pack up his things and leave, or doing it for him.

Along the way, they changed the game on both offense and defense — with one player in particular personifying the latter: Ty Law, who was one of the most physical and successful press-man cornerbacks of his era and one of the reasons the league changed its rulebook.Because of his impact on the game of football, his role on three championship teams and his high level of play over the course of his entire 15-year career, Law was voted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on the eve on New England’s latest Super Bowl victory. The 45-year-old thus became the first core member of the early dynasty to earn himself a gold jacket and recognition among the greatest players in pro football history. And according to the man himself, other members of the Patriots should join him in the Hall of Fame sooner rather than later. “I think I should be the first of a few more,” Law said during a recent appearance on the Adam Schefter Podcast. The five-time Pro Bowler who also spent time with the New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos knows, however, that it will not be easy given how the Patriots organization is perceived.“For whatever reason, and I think it’s still like that today, as much winning as [the Patriots] are continuing to do Color Rush Yodny Cajuste Jersey , it’s like we’re looked at as a team,” Law said about the club with which he spent the first ten seasons of his career. “It’s like there’s no other players worthy of that — at least from the media perspective — when it comes to the Patriots. It’s Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, everybody else. I didn’t know what people thought about me and the rest of us.”Law certainly has a point. There have been only a few constants during New England’s unprecedented two-decade run of excellence, with quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick the most notable ones. The pieces around them, meanwhile, changed on a regular basis — the success did not, however. This, in turn, has created a wide-spread view that everybody not named Brady or Belichick is a fungible commodity.“Tom Brady, greatest of all time, there’s no doubt about that. There’s no question about coach Belichick Youth Yodny Cajuste Jersey ,” continued Law. “But when you hear about how our team is it was to me: ‘We’ve got a hell of a lot players that can play. We can’t do it by just two guys.’ But I think we were molded like this through perception in the media that there was probably no other Hall of Fame players outside of that — which now we know is totally wrong.”As Law pointed out, New England’s dynastic run saw numerous players wearing the team’s colors worthy of entering the Hall of Fame conversation. Richard Seymour, for example, was a cornerstone of the team’s defensive line for eight years and a Hall of Fame finalist in his first year of eligibility. He will eventually get in given how far he already advanced this year. Others such as Willie McGinest and Rodney Harrison also appear to have strong cases.Ultimately, Law will be proven right: he will be the first key member of the 2000s Patriots to make the Hall of Fame, but he won’t remain the only one. The question is how long it will take until voters recognize others for their contributions to the league’s most dominant team of the last almost 20 years. Can Harry become the first Patriot to achieve the honor since 1995?"When they drafted N’Keal Harry 32nd overall, the New England Patriots added a high-upside pass catcher to provide physicality and playmaking ability on the perimeter — at least that is the ideal outcome of the world champions’ first-round investment. And while it remains to be seen whether or not Harry actually develops that way, oddsmakers appear to be at last somewhat confident in his abilities to become a productive wide receiver.According to recent odds published by BetOnline.ag, Harry is tied for eighth among offensive rookies when it comes to the chances of being named the best among them at the conclusion of the 2019 season. At 16/1, the Arizona State product trails players such as the first overall selection, quarterback Kyler Murray (2.25/1), or the premier tight end to enter the draft Womens Yodny Cajuste Jersey , new Detroit Lion T.J. Hockenson (12/1).New England’s offensive players winning rookie of the year honors is a rare occurrence, however. Should Harry take home the trophy at the season’s end, he would become just the fourth Patriot to be named the top offensive rookie in the NFL — and the first since the 1995 season: John Stephens won in 1988, Leonard Russell in 1991, and Curtis Martin four years later. All three players were, of course, running backs. That being said, Harry does not need to be in the conversation for the award all year long to have a positive impact on New England’s offense: with one of the league’s better running games and Julian Edelman still one of the most reliable wideouts in all of football, the Patriots’ first-rounder simply needs to provide a viable alternative target. If he can do that and adequately fill the number two role held by Chris Hogan at the end of the 2018 season, he would have been worth the investment — even without being named rookie of the year.

and wonderful start to their day. One coaching candidate has been taken off the board in the Jets search for a head coach Terrelle Pryor Sr. Jerseys 2019 , with Kliff Kingsbury signing on to become the new HC of the Arizona Cardinals. Also yesterday, Todd Monken officially was interviewed by the team for the vacancy. In related rumors, Mike McCarthy has been reported to be only pining for the New York Jets HC position. Records were meant to be broken, but it’s worth noting that no HC in the current Super Bowl era has won said Super Bowl with two different teams. The closest to that feat would be our own former coach Weeb Ewbank, who won NFL Championships with the Colts, then later the Super Bowl with the Jets. On the plus side, if McCarthy does end up becoming the next head coach, the Mike and Mac puns could be endless. Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets"Good morning, Jet fans! I hope everyone’s having a great start to their day. Today is one of those typical quiet days during the off-season with not much going around. Peak FA period is over, and most are focusing towards the draft. The Jets still have a plethora of holes to fill on the team, so hopefully Mac is able to make some under-the-radar signings in the coming days. Personally I’m skeptical of how the year is going to turn out. I like the Gase and Williams pairing, and I am a big fan of the Bell and Mosley moves. I just feel like the hype surrounding the team isn’t going to equal the talent and results that come with it. It’s a situation where I hope I’m proven wrong, and it’s honestly not a fault of anyone on the team right now (sans ownership and MM). That said White Avery Williamson Jerseys , since the hire of Bowles and the last few years of the Ryan Era, (we’ll ignore the Jets longstanding history of mediocrity) the feeling has been virtually endless. The main difference is we actually have a young QB who looks to be a future stud, and isn’t fool’s gold like Mark Sanchez, Chad Pennington, or Ken O’Brien before him (again, let’s ignore the longstanding history and the Jets absurdly picking Ken over Marino). Hopefully Sam has what it takes to take the team into greatness for years to come, and end my worries.
