The upcoming offseason is the first in which the pains of “The Process” are gone and in the past, and for the first time under the Brandon Beane/Sean McDermott regime, the team has significant salary-cap space. After subtracting out a draft-pick pool of $9 million or so, the Bills have approximately $78.5 million in cap space for 2019 according to Spotrac. In addition to such salary-cap space (and as a result of roster turnover and lower usable salary-cap space due to dead money), the team also has sizable CBA cash-spending requirements in the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Note here that the penalty for not meeting these requirements is simply that the team has to gross-up the current players to reach the minimum (no team has been forced to do this under the current CBA).With no highly valued free agents Youth Kyle Williams Jerseys , a young core that is still a year or two away from needing veteran-level contracts, and the previous regime’s dead money fully expunged, the Bills have considerable flexibility for 2019. And although reasonable minds can differ on whether they should spend significant salary cap dollars in 2019, under the CBA, the Bills need to spend significant amounts of cash dollars regardless of what they do with the salary cap.Based on publicly available figures from Spotrac and the NFLPA, the Bills are required to spend about $213.95 million in cash dollars between 2019 and 2020 (assuming a $10 million salary cap increase in 2020) in order to comply with the CBA-required 89% team minimum cash spend. Currently, the Bills are at around 88.3% for 2017 and 2018 (the minimum is computed-based on a 2017-2020 average), and need to spend around $83.1 million in 2019 in order to be on pace to meet the minimum of 89%. The team already has $87.375 million in 2019 committed cash, so it shouldn’t be difficult. If only the minimum cash spending to be on pace is equaled in 2019, the team would then be required to spend a whopping $130.85 million in cash in 2020. The Bills currently only have $46.25 million in committed cash for 2020. Thankfully the Pegula family is very wealthy, as an aside. It is cash concerns Kyle Williams Jerseys Stitched , not cap concerns, that created the rumors that the Oakland Raiders had to trade Khalil Mack because owner Mark Davis did not have the cash to pay the $34 million signing bonus plus $7 million 2018 salary that Mack eventually received. However, despite being very large numbers, it should be noted that cash can be spent relatively quickly in free agency. For example, 2018 free-agent signing Star Lotulelei’s five-year, $50 million contract had a 2018 cash hit of $17.1 million, but a cap hit of only $6.7 million (due to a $13 million signing bonus paid in 2018 but prorated over the life of the contract). In addition, if the Bills draft a player at number nine overall, such player would have a sizable 2019 cash hit of around $12 million, despite a reasonably low cap hit. Even so, the team’s first-round pick and a precedent five-year Youth Doug Flutie Jerseys , $50 million contract only equal approximately $29.1 million in 2019 cash spending, meaning that whatever way they end up doing it, the Bills need to spend some cash money in the next few months. If it comes down to the end, the Bills can spend a whole lot of cash in 2020 re-signing some of their young players. The Bills will have to decide before too long on whether to pick up 2016 first-round pick Shaq Lawson’s expensive option for 2020. If not, he’ll be a free agent in 2020. Budding star Matt Milano and dependable offensive tackle Dion Dawkins will reach unrestricted free agency in 2020 as well. Signing bonus money will all count toward the cash spending, allowing Buffalo to easily break the cash floor with Lawson, Milano, and Dawkins—or their replacement—in free agency.

There is a feeling for many outside the Giants organization

that the team needs to move on from quarterback Eli Manning in order to find the consistent success that has eluded them since they beat the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI in February 2012.While there’s an acknowledgement that Manning won’t be able to play forever Ryan Connelly Buffalo Bills Jersey , Giants co-owner John Mara, General Manager Dave Gettleman and head coach Pat Shurmur have all been adamant that Manning is not holding the Giants back right now. You can add running back Saquon Barkley to that list.Barkley was asked by Taylor Rooks of if he is bothered by criticism of Manning.“Yeah, it bothers me. I’m not going to lie because it’s not his fault Youth Phil Simms Jerseys ,” Barkley said. “He’s not the reason why. We love to put the blame on one person, but it takes 11 men, a team and an organization all together to win.”Anyone who has watched the Giants stumble to eight wins over the last two seasons will tell you that there’s been plenty wrong with the team. Needing help elsewhere and needing better quarterback play aren’t mutually exclusive Phil Simms Jerseys Stitched , however, and the Giants will likely have to address all of it if they are going to find their way to a better place in the standings. Giants head coach Pat Shurmur answered questions about the team’s plans for first-round pick Daniel Jones after Monday’s start to organized team activities and he also provided an update about the health of a quarterback that the team drafted last year.Kyle Lauletta was limited in the practice session and, per multiple reporters Youth Doug Kotar Jerseys , Shurmur said that he is recovering from a “knee cleanup” done earlier in the offseason.Lauletta’s expected to be back to a full workload sooner rather than later, but good health might not be enough for him to stick around for a second season with the team. Barring injury, Jones and Eli Manning will be on the 53-man roster and Alex Tanney remains on hand after serving as the No. 2 quarterback for almost all of last season. One exception to that came in a lopsided win against Washington in Week 14. Lauletta got some snaps in relief of Manning Doug Kotar Jerseys Stitched , but went 0-for-5 with an interception when asked to throw the ball.

Tennessee's three-game skid is over Infant Yodny Cajuste Jersey , and the Titans are back to .500 after a big road victory. But before they can catch their breath, the Titans have a short week before they host the surging New England Patriots in what will be Tennessee's lone home game in November.Coach Mike Vrabel understands the challenge 鈥?and opportunity 鈥?the Titans have going against his old coach, Bill Belichick."We've just gotten ourselves to the surface where there's a little bit of air, a little bit of water," Vrabel said Tuesday. "You're kind of taking a little bit of both in and you can't survive there for long. But you can survive there for a few minutes. And so we got to make the next decision to see if we can get our heads completely above water."The Titans (4-4) still trail the Houston Texans (6-3) inside the AFC South, but their 28-14 victory in Dallas on Monday night put Tennessee into the sixth and final playoff spot in the AFC for now. The Titans shook off a horrific start with two fumbles by Marcus Mariota on their first two drives to turn score a season-high in points after managing just 31 points all of October.Vrabel credited the Titans with shaking off that start. Tennessee turned two turnovers into 14 points, came up with five sacks and held Ezekiel Elliott to just 61 yards rushing.Offensively, the young Titans showed serious signs of progress in offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur's scheme. They converted 11 of 14 attempts on third down for a 78.6 percent rate that was the best in the NFL this season and tied for the league's highest in the past three years. The Titans tied up the game at 7-7 with the franchise's longest drive since Dec. 9, 2012, using up 8 minutes Yodny Cajuste Jersey Draft , 55 seconds.Tennessee scored touchdowns on four of five trips inside the Dallas 20 against a Cowboys defense that came in as the NFL's second stingiest in the red zone. Mariota also completed passes to nine different receivers and had a season-high 119.9 passer rating throwing for 240 yards and two touchdowns. He ran for 32 more yards and another score."I hope it's that guys are understanding where they fit, what they need to do to get open and understand when they get open, Marcus is going to try to get them the ball," Vrabel said of the Titans' offense.Left tackle Taylor Lewan, who spoke about the Titans deserving respect after a 3-1 start, said he is just relieved to win a game and get back to .500."I'll definitely keep my (expletive) mouth shut from now on about that kind of stuff," Lewan said. "Daddy learned his lesson."Cornerback Logan Ryan said the Titans knew they were in a must-win situation in Dallas and that one win in the NFL can turn things around."It was a huge win," Ryan said after the game. "Now we know we've got a tough test next week, and we will be ready."The Titans host the Patriots (7-2) on Sunday before heading back on the road to Indianapolis and Houston. The Patriots routed Tennessee 35-14 in an AFC divisional game last January. Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk fired Mike Mularkey after that game and chose Vrabel to take this franchise further."We have to just get our players as ready as we can for the game," Vrabel said.Notes: Vrabel made it clear he didn't like safety Kevin Byard celebrating his interception by running to the star at midfield and posing like Terrell Owens 18 years ago. The coach said he plans to talk again with the safety and the Titans on Wednesday Yodny Cajuste NFL Jersey , and Vrabel said he wants them to celebrate with each other.Follow Teresa M. Walker at teresamwalker In the last three weeks, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has found himself playing other roles in the offense on occasion. He found himself in position to be a blocker against the Bills and Packers, although he didn’t wind up trying too hard to pancake anyone. Brady also caught a pass from Julian Edelman against the Titans last Sunday and those developments were the focus of a question for head coach Bill Belichick on Tuesday.Belichick was asked on a conference call if he’s concerned about an added risk of injury to Brady when the team calls plays that put him in those kinds of positions.“I think we鈥檙e certainly aware of that, but there鈥檚 certain things that I think you have to do sometimes to win the game — and if quarterback sneaks in short-yardage, something like that where the quarterback鈥檚 going to get hit on a play like that, but it鈥檚 an important play and he鈥檚 very good at it,” Belichick said. “So, yeah, we鈥檒l just have to evaluate those things going forward. Not looking to do an excessive amount of them, that鈥檚 for sure Yodny Cajuste NFL Draft , but if there鈥檚 a situational play or something that comes up, then I think we鈥檇 consider it. But, I mean, look, it鈥檚 a contact sport out there. Quarterbacks get hit in the pocket and quarterbacks scramble and a lot of people converge on them in a hurry. So, nobody knows that better than Tom does.”Belichick also noted that if they throw a pass to Brady “once a year it鈥檚 a lot” and Brady has only been targeted for four passes — including the one in Super Bowl LII — over the course of his career.

Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsRight now there are a ton of rumors out there about the 2019 NFL Draft. Many of them are false Youth Chris Herndon Jerseys , but sometimes we can learn things by piecing together separate reports. The Jets have made it clear they would be interested in moving back. Washington needs a quarterback, which makes that team a trade up candidate. This is worth watching.A lot of the background work on trades is done before the Draft. Teams reach out across the league to make it clear they are either interested in trading up or trading down. They can work out some broad parameters. This doesn’t mean a deal gets done. Take this case. When the Jets get on the clock Chris Herndon Jerseys Stitched , the quarterback Washington wants might be gone. A player the Jets didn’t expect to fall might be there for them (Nick Bosa?). These things might make one side lose interest in a trade. But it’s really difficult to wing a trade once a team is on the clock. The two sides have ten minutes to finalize a trade. So it makes sense to get a lot of the groundwork done beforehand. What could the Jets expect in exchange for the third pick? Washington owns the 15th overall selection.Using the Pro Football Reference Trade Finder, I identified three instances since 2000 where a team with a top three pick traded out of the top ten.2000 San Francisco trades with WashingtonWashington got: 3rd overall pickSan Francisco got: 12th overall pick; 24th overall pick; Fourth Round Pick (119); Fifth Round Pick (154)2013 Oakland trades with MiamiMiami got: 3rd overall pickOakland got: 12th overall pick; Second Round Pick (42)2016 Tennessee trades with Los Angeles RamsLos Angeles got: 1st overall pick; Fourth Round Pick (113); Sixth Round Pick (177)Tennessee got: 15th overall pick; Future First Round Pick; Two Second Round Picks (43 and 45); Third Round Pick (76); Future Third Round Pick............So there’s a wide variety based on this deal. The boom scenario would be the bounty of picks like the Titans got. Worst case scenario would be simply adding a second round pick. The middle ground would be adding an additional first rounder for the price of moving down. So with my back of the envelope math Youth Trenton Cannon Jerseys , I’ll say the Jets getting proper value would be contingent on acquiring Washington’s 2020 first round pick. Anything more would be excellent negotiating. Getting less would be an underwhelming haul. FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have placed tight end Eric Tomlinson on injured reserve and signed tight end Clive Walford to replace him for the season finale. The nature of Tomlinson's injury wasn't immediately certain. He wasn't on the injury report Wednesday. Tomlinson dealt with an Achilles tendon issue late last week Trenton Cannon Jerseys Stitched , but fully participated in practice and played against Green Bay last Sunday.Tomlinson, mainly a blocking tight end Color Rush Chuma Edoga Jersey , had eight catches for 72 yards in 15 games in his third season with the team. He was also a regular contributor on special teams. Walford was in training camp with the Jets this past summer and tied for the team lead with seven preseason receptions. He was among the team's final cuts in September and was most recently with Indianapolis. He spent his first three NFL seasons with Oakland.

That leaves Fitzpatrick the favorite to start the season opener, with Rosen learning from Fitzpatrick. But the 36-year-old Fitzpatrick isn’t too old to learn himself. Fitzpatrick has had a signal caller more veteran and accomplished than he is in the quarterbacks room since joining the Dolphins. Special adviser Dan Marino has worked with Fitzpatrick and Rosen.“What a great guy,” Fitzpatrick told Rose. “The biggest thing that pops out to me is his humility. As a rookie http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-jerick-mckinnon-jersey , you are adjusting to the speed of the game. You are being overloaded with information, and for the first time in your life, you’re no longer the best player on the field. If the San Francisco 49ers are going to win more than their projected eight games in 2019, the rookie class from 2018 will need to step up. That’s how playoff teams emerge. Take a look at the Chicago Bears. Safety Eddie Jackson went from a pretty solid rookie to one of the best safeties in the NFL. That helped transform the secondary. Who will be that player for the Niners? Here are three players that need to make the jump in their second year.Kentavius StreetIn Street’s draft profile on NFL.com, his player comparison was Ronald Blair. Street was known for his athleticism, strength, and versatility coming out of North Carolina State. He played on a stacked defensive line where Street played both inside and out. Street doesn’t need to go in and get ten sacks. Success would be him coming in and stealing that third pass-rushing role from Ronald Blair.Street plays with a ton of effort, and that matters. Kris Kocurek has some new toys to coach. Provided Street has recovered from the ACL injury he suffered at his Pro Day in the spring of 2018; Street has an excellent shot at winning that job.Tarvarius MooreThe frustration for a lot of 49ers fans was that Moore was playing out of position. The former college safety transitioned to cornerback in 2018, and that was always going to be a learning curve. To his credit, Moore didn’t look entirely out of his depth. There were some growing pains, but we knew that would happen. Moore is a rare athlete. To me Womens Cassius Marsh Jersey , he should be on the field. Whether that’s at free safety, strong safety, in the box, outside at corner. Moore is a talent. The coaching staff views Moore as a cornerback, and that’s all that matters. If that’s the case, Moore is probably another year away from realistically being able to contribute. That’s why many believe he’s Richard Sherman’s replacement in 2020, in the event the team doesn’t re-sign Sherman. In 2019, Moore needs to find his role, whatever that may be. He has too much ability to be on the sidelines.D.J. Reed Jr.Coming out of Kansas State, Reed Jr. was known for his ball skills. He broke up 25 passes during the two years he played in college. At 5-foot-9, and 188 pounds Jaquiski Tartt Jersey , many figured Reed Jr. would play in the slot. The 49ers tried Reed Jr. out at free safety as well, where he played 154 snaps. He played 172 snaps in the slot.I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion, but to me, Reed Jr. has a higher ceiling than K’Waun Williams. Reed Jr. is more of a willing tackler and can get you takeaways. In Robert Saleh’s defense, they’re never going to be asked to lock down receivers in man coverage consistently. Unless there is a drastic change this year, of course. In the slot, you want players that are aware and can read the QB. That’s been Reed Jr. all of his life. If you recall what Reed Jr. did against the Denver Broncos Week 14 in place of Williams, that’s everything you want. You’re going to give up catches in the slot, but it’s more important to limit what receivers do after the catch. In that game, Williams gave up six catches for a total of 15 yards. He also had eight tackles. Seven of those were “stops,” which constitutes a loss for the offense. If Reed Jr. can give the 49ers that type of production consistently Womens Joe Montana Jersey , the front office will be ecstatic. Rob Lowder will be back to tell us what the first three picks of the 2018 draft class need to do for the 49ers to take the next step. As the 49ers prepare to add another defensive lineman with a top-five pick, they could be parting ways with the player who arrived via the third overall pick in 2017.Per a league source, the 49ers are shopping defensive lineman Solomon Thomas. The willingness to part ways with Thomas could be an indication that the 49ers are leaning toward taking pass rusher Nick Bosa. However, it doesn’t rule out Quinnen Williams, a defensive tackle who has the skill to move around. The 49ers have two other first-round defensive linemen: 2015 first-rounder Arik Armstead and 2016 first-rounder DeForest Buckner.Thomas has two years left on his rookie deal, plus an option year available in 2021. He’s due to earn $3 million this year and $4.33 million in 2020.After Thomas racked up three sacks in 14 games as a rookie, defensive coordinator Robert Saleh vowed that Thomas has “got a plan” and will be “much improved” as a pass rusher. Thomas responded with one sack in 16 games, and he saw his playing time diminish.

He accounted for 16 yards rushing and 21 receiving as part of a 46-yard drive that ended with Matt Barkley hitting Cam Phillips for an 8-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring 5½ minutes into the second quarter.“He’s a natural,” Gore said. “People think he’s small, but he’s really not. He’s got a thick lower body. He’s a true running back.”Singletary was taken aback when informed of Gore’s comments.“Coming from Frank, that’s major,” he said. “If he says I’m a natural, then I guess I’m a natural.”Singletary scored 66 touchdowns during his three years at Florida Atlantic, which led to Bills general manager Brandon Beane referring to him as “the funnest guy I’ve watched all year.”Singletary was fearless in running up the middle, at one point having defensive end Kemoko Turay whiff as he sped past him. And he displayed patience in following his blocks White Jerry Hughes Jerseys , as happened on a 10-yarder to convert a third-and-10 two plays before Phillips scored.Tackle Ty Nsekhe wasn’t surprised.“He’s been doing it all camp. So just to see it translate into the game situation is a good thing,” Nsekhe said. The Colts struggled on offense while sitting out numerous starters, including quarterback Andrew Luck, who is nursing a strained left calf.Backup Jacoby Brissett finished 2 of 5 for 21 yards over three series, with both completions to offseason free-agent addition Devin Funchess.Indianapolis combined for two first downs and 44 yards over its first seven series. Backup Phillip Walker then ended the half by putting together a five-play, 41-yard drive, capped by Cole Hedlund hitting a 42-yard field goal to cut Buffalo’s lead to 14-3.Coach Frank Reich placed the blame for the Colts’ sputtering offense on an inability to run the ball. Indianapolis finished with 16 yards rushing in the first half, though it was missing starter Marlon Mack, who had the day off.“Yeah, we’re vanilla, but it shouldn’t matter in the run game,” Reich said. “We were expecting to be able to run the ball.”With his Pro Football Hall of Fame uncle Jim Kelly in the stands, Colts quarterback Chad Kelly provided the only offensive highlights upon taking over midway through the third quarter.Kelly scored on a 33-yard scamper and also led the Colts on two drives ending with field goals.“It was awesome to finally come home and get back on the field, like a kid in a candy shop Jerry Hughes Jerseys 2019 , having fun and doing it with the guys,” Kelly said.He grew up in Buffalo, but has had a checkered college and pro career, and is seeking a second chance after signing with the Colts in May.Bills starter Josh Allen completed 6 of 11 attempts for 66 yards over two series, the second ending with veteran kicker Stephen Hauschka hitting the left upright on a 34-yard field-goal attempt.WADING INRunning back Christian Wade, giving football a shot after growing up in England playing rugby, scored on a 65-yard run on Buffalo’s first play from scrimmage after Kelly scored. It also happened to be the first time Wade took the field. The only difficulty he had was figuring out how to celebrate.“I had it all planned out. I was like, ‘When I get to the end zone, I’m going to put the ball down, like in rugby, and I might even dive like in rugby,'” Wade said. “But I thought I might hurt myself in all these pads.”CLEARED TO TRAVELColts backup offensive lineman Ian Silberman was released from a Buffalo-area hospital and cleared to travel home with the team after complaining of an abdominal medical issue. Silberman was transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons before the game.SITTING OUTAmong the Indianapolis notables who did not play were TEs Eric Ebron and Jack Doyle, DE Jabaal Sheard (knee), PK Adam Vinatieri and rookies LB Ben Banogu and WR Parris Campbell due to hamstring injuries.UP NEXTColts: host Cleveland Browns on Aug. 17.Bills: hold joint practices with Panthers in South Carolina before playing at Carolina on Aug. 16.52<button class="view-gallery">View Gallery</button> Gallery:Greetings from Westfield: Colts training camp 2019AP | Copyright The Associated Press. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Josh Allen played with the poise of a well-seasoned quarterback Youth Dion Dawkins Jerseys , hustling to give Buffalo an early lead in his first NFL road start. Then, the Bills turned their defense loose on Kirk Cousins and delivered a stunningly lopsided victory over the Minnesota Vikings.Allen accounted for three touchdowns, making Cousins look like the raw rookie as the Bills beat the Vikings 27-6 on Sunday as 16½-point underdogs.“This is a tough place to play. That’s a good Vikings defense,” said Allen, who became the first Bills rookie quarterback to record at least one rushing and passing score in his first career road start. “It just solidifies the trust that I have in my teammates.”Cousins had three turnovers. He lost a fumble on a third-down sack inside Minnesota’s 20-yard line on each of the first two possessions , and Buffalo turned those recoveries into 10 points. The Bills built a 27-0 lead by midway through the second quarter as the crowd at U.S. Bank Stadium, where the Vikings had won 10 of their last 11 games including the playoffs, began booing with increased intensity.“Great defense, well-coached, great scheme,” Cousins said. “They have legitimate players at a lot of different positions.”The Vikings (1-1-1) allowed the Bills (1-2) to become only the sixth 16-plus-point underdog winner in the NFL’s last 81 point spreads of that size. According to ESPN research, the last such winner was Washington over Dallas on Dec. 3, 1995.“I don’t think we took them too lightly,” Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said. “I think they came out and kicked our butts.”After being outscored 75-9 over their first six quarters of the season Dion Dawkins Jerseys Stitched , the Bills have enjoyed a 41-9 advantage over the last six periods.“We really don’t really pay attention to what people think about us,” linebacker Lorenzo Alexander said. “It’s all about internal belief and confidence. If you listen to outside noise, we’d never win a game because nobody respects Buffalo at all. We have to continue to go out and earn that respect.”Allen certainly earned some with this performance. The seventh overall pick in the draft out of Wyoming who took the job earlier than expected in relief of a struggling Nathan Peterman in the opener, completed 15 of 22 passes for 196 yards. That included a 26-yard touchdown pass to wide-open tight end Jason Croom .AIRBORNE ALLENThough Allen took three sacks and fumbled three times, the Bills were able to recover all of them. He put together a mini-highlight film with his feet while injured running back LeSean McCoy watched in a sweatsuit — with a big smile — from the sideline.Allen dived to finish a 10-yard run by beating Anthony Barr to the pylon to finish the game’s first drive. Later, on third-and-9, Allen hurdled over Barr to land past the first-down marker. He capped that possession with a 1-yard touchdown leap over the goal line on fourth down for a 24-0 lead early in the second quarter.“He was decisive early, and that’s important,” coach Sean McDermott said. “It looked like he played with a clear mind.”GROUNDED GAMEWith running back Dalvin Cook (hamstring) inactive and the score so lopsided, the Vikings set a franchise record for fewest rushing attempts with six. Cousins, who took four sacks, finished 40 for 55 for 296 yards and a late touchdown to Kyle Rudolph .GOING GREENThe Vikings inducted the late Dennis Green, who’s second behind Bud Grant in winning percentage as a head coach, into their Ring of Honor. Green Matt Milano Jersey , who guided the Vikings to the playoffs in eight of his 10 seasons, became the 24th member. He hasn’t started a game since Week 12 of the 2016 season (and in that game, he only started because Cam Newton didn’t wear a necktie on the team flight—yes, seriously—and he threw one pass Jason Croom Jerseys 2019 , which was intercepted, before Newton replaced him). Anderson has not started and finished a game since October 10, 2016, a 17-14 loss against the Atlanta Falcons in which Anderson threw for 278 yards and 2 interceptions. Josh Allen will watch from the sidelines this week after suffering an injury to the ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing elbow. Ray-Ray McCloud III White Rafael Bush Jerseys , who muffed a punt and fumbled a kick return in last week’s 20-13 loss to the Houston Texans, will not travel with the Bills for undisclosed, non-injury reasons. As if all of the change in Buffalo wasn’t enough, veteran place kicker Adam Vinatieri only needs to score 10 points today in order to become the NFL’s all-time leading scorer. There will be plenty to discuss today Rafael Bush Jerseys 2019 , and your first-half thread is the place to begin those discussions. Enjoy the game, folks—go Bills! The Buffalo Bills have almost $85 million in salary cap space heading into the 2019 off-season. While they have a ton of money, they may also be looking to move on from an overpriced contract or two prior to the start of the 2019 season. Our first look turns to running back LeSean McCoy, whose high-high cap number and low-low cap production in 2018 coupled with his high-high age make him a candidate to go bye-bye.If Buffalo releases McCoy White Matt Milano Jerseys , they save $6.425 million on the salary cap and that much in actual dollars. For that price, they could sign two or three free-agent running backs (not named Le’Veon Bell) to get the same production they got from McCoy in 2018.It’s the final year of the contract, so Buffalo either has to play out the remainder of his deal or release/trade him. If I’m Buffalo, there isn’t a way I’m giving him a contract extension to kick the salary cap down the road. It’s one and done for Shady or none and done. One day after Sterling Shepard suffered a broken thumb, the New York Giants have announced that fellow wide receiver Corey Coleman has suffered a torn ACL.Rookie wide receiver Darius Slayton also missed Thursday’s practice due to a hamstring injury. Slayton, per Pat Shurmur, is not ready to practice. Undrafted free agent wide receiver Alex Wesley is on the PUP list.GM Dave Gettleman said Friday that the Giants will hold a wide receiver workout on Saturday and likely make a roster move after that.Former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, drafted by Gettleman, is expected at the workout. So, too, is former Northwestern receiver Flynn Nagel. Others I’ve been told to watch for include Bruce Ellington Lawrence Taylor Jerseys 2019 , Justin Hunter, Zach Pascal and former Rutgers receiver Leonte Caroo.Shurmur said Coleman's injury occurred Thursday.“After hearing the news on Corey, definitely a bit deflated,” said first-year Giant Golden Tate. “Corey had a great offseason, worked hard on his craft, and we saw huge jumps from him. So for him, (and for) something like that to happen, definitely can’t help but deflate you a little bit. We all see him as a brother, so it’s tough to see that.”With Shepard, Coleman and Darius Slayton (hamstring) out White Carl Banks Jerseys , Shurmur indicated the Giants will have to add to the roster.Shurmur said he is "not concerned" about Shepard missing regular season time."He'll be back soon," Shurmur said. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Breathe a little easier Philadelphia and surrounding areas. The Eagles are back and looking super.Just goes to show you what a little urgency, some big plays — and a timely game against the New York Giants can do for the defending Super Bowl champions.Carson Wentz threw a season-high three touchdown passes and the Eagles got an early lift from their defense and special teams in beating the struggling Giants 34-13 on Thursday night, avoiding their first three-game losing streak since the 2016 season.“It’s a big win for us,” said Wentz, who finished 26 of 36 for 278 yards and no interceptions. “NFC East and the conference. It’s huge. Being 3-3 is better than 2-4. This is more like who we are. We can build from this.”The win put the Eagles into a first place tie with Washington (2-2) in the NFC East with Dallas (2-3) a half game back. The Giants are fading fast.Wentz sandwiched touchdowns passes of 13 and 1 yard to Alshon Jeffery around a 10-yarder to tight end Zach Ertz to help the Eagles build a 31-6 lead. They beat the Giants (1-5) for the fourth straight time and seventh in eight games.Corey Clement scored on a 1-yard run and Jake Elliott added field goals of 33 and 30 yards.“This is finally the game where we played like the Philadelphia Eagles,” said Ertz, who was limited to seven passes for 43 yards. “We’re finally the Eagles again.”Rookie halfback Saquon Barkley scored on a 50-yard run and rushed for 130 yards in one of the few bright spots for the Giants’ offense, which was booed repeatedly in losing at home for the third time. Aldrick Rosas had field goals of 33 and 21 yards. This was seen as a must-win game for both teams in the weak and wide-open NFC East Carl Banks Jerseys 2019 , and the Eagles went out and grabbed it.They came into the game having scored seven points in the first quarter and they doubled that against New York.Eli Manning was under pressure all night from the Eagles. They sacked him four times and hit him 13 other times. He finished 24 of 43 for 281 yards.“We want to get after the passer every week,” coach Doug Pederson said. “These games are battles. It all comes down to which team gets after the passer. We hit Eli and put him on the ground. That was big.”It started on the opening series.Kamu Grugier-Hill intercepted Manning’s pass that was tipped by fellow linebacker Jordan Hicks and he returned it to Giants 16. Three plays later, Wentz was forced out of the pocket and found Jeffery after getting all day to throw.A 46-yard run by Barkley set up Rosas’ 33-yarder to cut the gap to 7-3, but the Eagles took control later in the quarter after DeAndre Carter returned a punt 23 yards to the New York 44. Passes of 17 to Jeffery and 14 to Clement set up Clement’s touchdown run.A spectacular tackle-breaking run by Barkley on a 55-yard screen pass helped cut the lead to 14-6 in the second quarter but Wentz hit a wide-open Nelson Agholer on a third and 3 and connected with Ertz for a 21-6 lead on the next play.Elliott made it 24-6 just before halftime and Philadelphia put the game out of reach with a 75-yard drive that ended with a short Jeffery TD catch.“We didn’t do anything well enough to win tonight,” Giants coach Pat Shurmur said. “Credit Philadelphia. Good football team.”The only thing meaningful after that was Barkley’s touchdown run.“How do I feel about my performance tonight?” Barkley asked rhetorically. “Doesn’t matter to me. We didn’t win.”FAN OF THE GAMEOdell Beckham Jr. headbutted a giant cooling fan during a second-half fit that also included him screaming from the sideline and eventually being calmed by Barkley. Beckham also left for the locker room before the end of the first half, though Shurmur said Beckham was excused early because of cramping.Beckham said his tirade was just a bit of self-motivation.“I was just trying to get myself going,” he said. “I felt like some of those plays where I was getting myself going was some of my best stuff. So I was just trying to get myself fired up. I did that and it helped me.”Thursday’s scene comes a week after Beckham bemoaned the lack of downfield passes from Manning and the team’s subpar energy following a 33-31 loss to Carolina. Beckham had six catches for 44 yards Thursday, and his longest reception was 12 yards.INJURIES: Eagles LT Jason Peters left with a biceps injury. Backup cornerback Sidney Jones left in the first half with a hamstring injury. The Giants had LB Ray Ray Amstrong (concussion), WR Cody Latimer (hamstring) and CB Antonio Hamilton (illness) leave the game.BARKLEY GAINS: Barkley has gained at least 100 yards from scrimmage in each of his first six career games. He is one off the NFL rookie record set by Kansas City’s Kareem Hunt.UP NEXTEagles: Host Carolina on Oct. 21.Giants: At Atlanta on Oct. 22.

Phang and Tama Beth Kudman also argued that someone at the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office or Jupiter police leaked the video. Both agencies denied that.__4:10 p.m.A second massage therapist who detectives in Florida say performed a sex act on New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has been arrested and faces several prostitution charges.Shen Mingbi had a hearing in Palm Beach County on Tuesday, a day after she was arrested. Through a Mandarin interpreter, she was ordered to surrender her passport and stay away from massage parlors.A $5,000 bond was set for a felony charge and she was granted release on her own recognizance for eight misdemeanor counts. Her attorney, Antonio Recinos, says she will plead not guilty. An arrest affidavit says that Mingbi performed sex acts on Kraft, former Citigroup President John Havens and others while working as a masseuse at Orchids of Asia Day Spa.Jupiter, Florida, detectives say they found $43 Danny Shelton Jerseys 2019 ,000 in unreported cash in Mingbi’s bank safe deposit box.

FLORHAM PARK White Marcus Maye Jerseys , N.J. (AP) — Sam Darnold recently made a mistake that drew the ire of Adam Gase. It was the first time the New York Jets coach raised his voice at his young quarterback.Darnold didn’t flinch. At all.“He was like, ‘It’s about time you started getting on me a little bit,'” Gase recalled with a smile.Darnold turned 22 years old Wednesday — a baby by NFL standards — but Gase doesn’t feel any need to treat him with kid gloves.“You can say whatever you want to him,” Gase said with a smile. “He’s great about that. I think he likes it better when you’re a little aggressive with him.”Add that to the ever-growing list of things Gase already appreciates about Darnold as the QB guru and the franchise QB develop a working relationship they both hope will grow stronger for many years.Darnold is still learning the nuances of Gase’s playbook after being in Jeremy Bates’ system last year. Gase uses a walkie-talkie to call plays into Darnold’s headset during practice, trying to help the quarterback get used to his voice and feel comfortable with it long before the season starts. The two also constantly speak in person and away from the practice field, breaking down plays and finding out what works best for them. Not that Darnold has asked Gase to adjust any elements of the playbook just yet.“No, nothing drastic like that,” Darnold said. “I think, for us, it’s more conversations like, ‘Oh, that felt a little awkward,’ or, ‘I don’t know how I feel about that.’ I’m never going up to him like, ‘Hey, that’s not part of the offense. We can’t do that.’ I’m not there yet. But Marcus Maye Jerseys 2019 , it’s definitely conversations that we have where it’s like, ‘OK, maybe I don’t do that so well.’“But again, there’s room to grow. There’s always room to grow for me. I feel like I have so much room where I can get better.”That was reiterated to Darnold during the first minicamp practice Tuesday when he was intercepted twice during team drills. New defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was typically aggressive with his squad, frustrating Darnold at times. That, Gase insisted, will only help Darnold and the rest of the offense.“It’s a good process for us,” Gase said. “It’s tough going against Gregg’s defense where you get multiple looks. We threw in some new stuff on the offense and there’s some growing pains there. But that’s part of the process, it’s good stuff for us to have to go through.”Gase is excited about having a quarterback at this stage of his career with Darnold’s physical abilities and mental capacity. The coach, who has worked with the likes of Peyton Manning, Jay Cutler and Ryan Tannehill, has raved about Darnold’s maturity and businesslike approach on the field and in the classroom.A year ago, Darnold was a rookie simply trying to figure out life in the NFL. Darnold’s teammates have noticed a difference in the quarterback this spring.“Confidence, honestly,” left tackle Kelvin Beachum said. “It’s been great to just see him being able to command the huddle and understanding the urgency that goes along with each particular drill. … I’m excited to see what he has once the (season) gets going.”Darnold agreed that he is feeling more comfortable and confident — despite the fact he’ll be running his third different offense in as many years, dating to his final season at USC.That doesn’t faze him White ArDarius Stewart Jerseys , though. Not in the way it might for many young quarterbacks.“I think I’m all right at kind of being able to separate things,” he said. “So, whether it was at USC or last year, I’m very good at just kind of putting stuff behind me and just moving on to the next offense. I feel like I’m the same way on the field – if a bad play happens, I’m able to move on to the next play.“I think there’s definitely a process there, though, where you’ve got to erase some stuff out of your memory bank.”Darnold’s final numbers in his first season were far from eye-popping: 2,865 yards, 17 touchdowns, 15 interceptions and a 57.7 completion percentage in 13 games. It was what he did in the final four contests, though, that had everyone feeling good about the No. 3 overall pick heading into his sophomore year in the NFL.Darnold came back from a foot injury that sidelined him for three games and closed the season by going 80 of 125 — 64.0 completion percentage — for 931 yards with six touchdowns and only one interception.Even more impressive than the stats was how Darnold showed an ability to make plays when it appeared there were no plays to be had.The Jets have four more sessions of organized activities next week before they break until training camp in late July. Darnold plans to spend some of his vacation time on the field with some of the guys he’ll be working with when the season begins.“Yeah, I think it’d be good to get some teammates wherever we can meet up, whether I’m on the East Coast, whether they come out to the West Coast,” Darnold said. “But yeah ArDarius Stewart Jerseys 2019 , definitely after OTAs I’m going to be going back home for a little bit —spend time with family and friends. But definitely looking to meet up with some of my teammates, especially receivers, running backs, skill guys, to be able to get that rapport with them in terms of route running and timing.“So, I’m sure one weekend or during the weeks at some point, we’ll get some time together.” The war of words between former Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown and his protege JuJu Smith-Schuster is heating up, but another relationship between a former Steeler and his young replacement is going much better. While Brown was sharing a screenshot of a message he once received from Smith-Schuster in an attempt to belittle him, former Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell shared a message he received from James Conner. It was a nice message from Conner, wishing Bell well.“What’s up bro,” Conner’s message began. “Just reaching out, social media got dudes acting crazy and it got me thinkin you was always a real one, never talked bad about nobody and was always solid. I appreciate that! Congrats on the new deal you weathered the storm and came out stronger.”Bell said that meant a lot to him.“I usually don’t post private conversations…but this txt just hit me so differently…I love youu to death bro,” Bell wrote.Unlike Brown and Smith-Schuster, Bell and Conner have a bond that can last even when their time as teammates is over.

(AP) — Crazy as it may sound, the New York Giants are starting to believe they have a chance to make a run at the playoffs. It’s amazing what a couple of wins can do for a team after a 1-7 start.Saquon Barkley ran for a career-high 142 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Giants held off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 38-35 on Sunday to win consecutive games for the first time since December 2016.“I think there is some excitement going around,” said Eli Manning , who hit 17 of 18 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns. “It is good. It is a good feeling to have in the locker room and you see some growth. You see the improvement.”What the Giants (3-7) are doing is making plays and finishing. The running game has picked up and it’s opened up the passing game, and the defense is forcing turnovers. The group intercepted four passes in sending the Bucs (3-7) to their fourth straight loss with linebacker Alec Ogletree returning one 15 yards for a touchdown.“I just know that we’re playing better and I just love to see these guys in here after the game with smiles on their faces,” said receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who caught an 8-yard touchdown pass. “We just put it all together, so it’s always a lot more fun when you win.”Playing in the NFC East also helps increase the belief the Giants are not dead.Washington, which fell to Houston and lost quarterback Alex Smith for the season to a broken leg, leads the division with a 6-4 record. No other team has a winning record.“We’ve got a long way to go, there are a lot of things we’ve got to get better at, but if we can just keep battling and fighting, who knows?” coach Pat Shurmur said. “That would be a fun thing for everybody to write about.”The Giants never trailed as Manning found a wide-open Barkley on a 6-yard TD pass on the opening series, and the No. 2 overall pick in the draft scored from 5 yards out on the second possession to give New York the lead for good.“We’re finishing games and we’re finishing drives, and that’s what we weren’t doing in the first half of the season,” Barkley said of his first winning streak as a pro.Tampa Bay made things interesting after Jameis Winston replaced a turnover-plagued Ryan Fitzpatrick in the third quarter and led four touchdown drives. The last score came on a 41-yard pass to Mike Evans with 2:22 to play and got the Bucs within 38-35.The Bucs got the ball back at their 20 with 23 seconds to play, but B.W. Webb intercepted Winston’s long throw down the sideline to ice the win. After Tampa Bay got within 31-28, Manning, whose only incompletion came on a short pass to Barkley late in the second quarter, connected with tight end Evan Engram on a 54-yard pass and run on the second play after the kickoff, and Barkley capped the drive with a 2-yard run with 3:52 to play. The Winston-to-Evans TD pass closed the gap to three points again.“It hurts me when I have to see my team lose a game because I turned the ball over,” Winston said. “And I’m sure it hurts Fitz. And I’m sure it hurts anyone that has a hand in what they believe led the other team to winning. That’s our main focus. We have to find a way to win.”Fitzpatrick scored on a fourth-down 1-yard run for the Tampa Bay, which squandered a chance to score on its opening possession when Fitzpatrick was stopped on a quarterback sneak inside the Giants’ 5.Evans recovered a fumble in the end zone in the third quarter to start the comeback, Peyton Barber tallied from 5 yards out and Adam Humphrie s and Evans caught TD passes in the fourth quarter to get the Bucs within three points twice.Winston finished 12 of 16 for 199 yards and two touchdowns. Barber rushed for 106 yards on 18 carries. Evans had six catches for 120 yards. Fitzpatrick was 13 of 21 for 167 and the three interceptions.INJURIESBuccaneers TE O.J. Howard left the game in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury. Giants DL Kerry Wynn left the game in the second half with a concussion.WELCOME SACKJason Pierre-Paul, the Giants’ 2010 first-round draft pick, returned to face his old team for the first time since being traded in the spring. He had 1½ of the Bucs’ four sacks. He helped Manning up after the first sack.“I just said to him: ‘Get up, stop falling,’ but no, I was just helping him up because that used to be my old teammate and I’m not trying to hurt him, I’m just trying to play football and have good sportsmanship,” Pierre-Paul said.Kareem Martin had the Giants’ first and only sack in the last three games.UP NEXTBuccaneers: Host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.Giants: Travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles on Sunday. TAMPA, Fla. (AP)The Tampa Bay Buccaneers aren’t saying much about injured quarterback Jameis Winston’s status for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills. As expected, the third-year pro did not throw in practice Wednesday because of a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder. Backup Ryan Fitzpatrick worked with the first-team offense in preparation for the Bills (3-2) Vernon Hargreaves III Jersey , who have the NFL’s stingiest scoring defense. ”He’s limited,” coach Dirk Koetter said of Winston, who was injured less than six minutes into last Sunday’s 38-33 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The Bucs said the following day that a MRI found no structural damage and that Winston, who’s made 37 consecutive starts to begin his career since entering the NFL as the No. 1 pick in the 2015 draft, is considered day-to-day. The Bucs have not signed a third quarterback, however Koetter declined to say whether that’s a sign that if Fitzpatrick starts this weekend that Winston might be available as a backup against the Bills. ”I’ll let you guys draw your own conclusions on that,” Koetter said, adding he has confidence in Fitzpatrick, one of four players in league history to throw touchdowns passes with seven different teams, if Winston doesn’t play. ”Ryan’s always extremely well prepared. To put it in perspective, Jameis has 37 starts. Ryan has 116,” the coach said. ”So, Ryan got all the passing reps today, and that’s about 35 more than he’s gotten since the season started, with the first offense. He’s a pro. He knows how to prepare. He showed that last week.” Winston was injured on Tampa Bay’s opening drive. He returned for two more series before being replaced by Fitzpatrick, who had limited success moving the ball until after the Bucs (2-3) fell behind 31-0 in the third quarter. The 34-year-old backup, who played with the Bills for four seasons from 2009 to 2012, finished 22 of 32 passing for 290 yards, three TDs and two interceptions. Along the way, he joined Vinny Testaverde, Chris Chandler and Gus Frerotte as the only quarterbacks to throw TD passes for seven different franchises. ”Fitz is a smart quarterback,” receiver Mike Evans said. ”He has really good ball placement. He puts it in areas that only we can catch it. He gives us a chance to win.” Fitzpatrick started 27 games over the past two seasons with the New York Jets. He signed with Tampa Bay as a free agent last spring, knowing he would be a backup to Winston, who topped 4,000 yards passing in each of his first two seasons. ”That’s the role I’m in, it’s a role I’ve been in before. I just try to go out there and do the best I can,” Fitzpatrick said before practice Wednesday. ”When I signed on here, (I knew) this is Jameis’ team,” Fitzpatrick added. ”To me, the biggest thing is when I’m out there, I don’t want to let him down because I know how much it means to him, and I know how much being out there means to him.” —

Womens Fred Warner Jersey

After the 49ers landed both Solomon Thomas and Reuben Foster with the third and 31st picks in the 2017 draft Womens Fred Warner Jersey , they boasted that they would have taken Foster with the third overall pick, if the Bears had taken Thomas after the two teams flip-flopped. Foster has since been released following a string of off-field issues, and G.M. John Lynch admitted to reporters on Monday that the 49ers have revised some of their pre-draft procedures based on their experiences with the former Alabama linebacker.“There’s certain tweaks we’ve made,” Lynch said. “Our 30 [per team] visits this year, we brought people more in a group setting. We want to see how they interact with other people. So those are subtle things that we do. But there’s so much that just goes into the research of these players. You learn something every year. I think the most important thing, you impart upon your scouts, upon your staff is, ‘We have to be as thorough as humanly possible.’ Anything we can learn about these guys is valuable information. I’m real proud of the work we’ve done with our staff to get as much information to be equipped to make as good a decision as possible.”Lynch acknowledges that the 49ers learned a lesson from drafting Foster.“If you aren’t always learning, shame on you, shame on us,” Lynch said. “I think with Reuben, I think we somewhat accounted for it by where we drafted him. I think we had him at a certain value. We didn’t draft him there. That doesn’t excuse us. It’s a shame. We’re very happy to have Kwon Alexander Bradley Pinion Jersey , but that came at a heavy price. We would’ve much preferred to have Reuben still playing here. So of course you learn a lesson. If you don’t, like I said, shame on you. You work hard to try to identify what is the lesson that you learned. We know in-house what those lessons are.”It sounds as if one of the lessons was to put prospects among other prospects, in order to assess whether they will be able to work and play well with others. Foster clearly wasn’t (as evidenced by the fact that he sent home from the Scouting Combine), and that’s why he’s now working and playing in Washington. San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman remained in a walking boot Thursday. However he was adamant that his strained left calf is not related to his other more serious leg problems of the past year.Sherman hurt his calf in the second quarter of Sunday's loss at Kansas City and didn't return. Team officials said he'll miss at least two games, though Sherman said the only certainty was that he'd be sidelined for this Sunday's road game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The three-time All-Pro missed the final seven games of last season after having surgery to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon. But given that he also had surgery on his left Achilles during the offseason, Sherman was asked whether his current left leg injury might be connected to past issues."It just makes it an easy story for you guys. Makes it lazy reporting," Sherman said. "But nah, it's getting back out there and going through the trials and tribulations of a season, wear and tear of football and taking all these reps after not taking them for eight months. Your body's gotta get used to it again."The 30-year-old Sherman missed a practice leading into the Chiefs game for what the team described as a "heel" issue, so he at least was on the injury radar even before Sunday. His absence is a damaging blow for a 49ers pass defense that ranks 27th in the NFL at 287.7 yards allowed per game. The Chargers enter Sunday ranked fifth in total offense (415.3 yards per game).Jimmie Ward, who has spent part of his career at safety Solomon Thomas Jersey White , is expected to start in Sherman's place. Second-year player Ahkello Witherspoon, who struggled two weeks ago against Detroit, likely will man the other cornerback spot.Compounding things is that both of San Francisco's starting safeties, Adrian Colbert and Jaquiski Tartt, are battling injuries and their status is unknown for Sunday. But aside from health, the biggest issue for San Francisco's defense has been poor tackling through the first three games. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said his unit is getting back to basics in practice, drilling on fundamentals even when the team is out of pads."It's very clear when you turn on the tape that we're actually lunging and ducking our heads at the point of attack," Saleh said. "When you teach tackling, everything that we talk about is you've got to run your body through their body."Get a body on a body, step on their toes, wrap up, keep your feet moving Womens C. J. Beathard Jersey , drive for five and get them to the ground."The biggest culprits last Sunday were inside linebackers Reuben Foster and rookie Fred Warner, who missed six and four tackles respectively. Those two are believed to be a promising young core of the 49ers defense. But Sunday was Foster's season debut after serving a two-game suspension. Saleh said Foster may have been knocking rust off, but the linebacker wasn't letting himself off the hook."That's uncalled for, just missing tackles like that," Foster said. "That's not like us as a team and that's not like me."NOTES: Tartt (shoulder) missed Thursday's practice as did guard Joshua Garnett (toe). Colbert (hip), running back Alfred Morris (knee) and guard Mike Person (knee) were limited. . Foster used "Roody-poo" in a quote earlier this week, a term made famous by "The Rock" during his wrestling days. Foster was delighted that the Hollywood star referenced it on Twitter. "It was amazing," Foster said of the shout-out.

agents turned into paydays Wednesday when the NFL’s business year began.Of course White Star Lotulelei Jerseys , teams needed to clear salary cap space or rejigger their ledgers to make it work, and they’ll still be doing so for months. While the likes of Drew Brees, Malcolm Butler and Andrew Norwell cashed in bigtime, having reached agreements in the past two days before everything became official, some value entered the marketplace.Arizona released safety Tyrann Mathieu when it couldn’t rework his deal. On Tuesday, the Cardinals let running back Adrian Peterson go.Baltimore cut receiver Jeremy Maclin. Detroit said goodbye to tight end Eric Ebron. Pittsburgh tore up a secondary that often was torn up by opposing quarterbacks, releasing Mike Mitchell, Robert Golden and William Gay.But Carolina had more success with a veteran, completing a one-year deal with defensive end Julius Peppers. The 38-year-old Peppers, who contemplated retirement after 17 pro seasons, remains with the Panthers for $5 million, with $2.5 million guaranteed, a person familiar with the situation said. The person spoke to The Associated Press on Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the team does not release financial terms of contracts.”I am fired up to have him back,” Panthers coach Ron Rivera said. ”It was amazing to have him as part of what we are trying to build and I think he can help us get to the next level.”Cleveland, meanwhile, did nothing more than listen to one of its greatest players Star Lotulelei Jerseys 2019 , tackle Joe Thomas , announce his retirement. The Browns save his $10.3 million salary for 2018 and a $3 million bonus but lose their best player and leader in the expansion era (1999-present), a 10-time Pro Bowler.”This was an extremely difficult decision, but the right one for me and my family,” Thomas said. ”Playing in the NFL has taken a toll on my body and I can no longer physically compete at the level I need to.”CARDINALSMathieu was due for $18.75 million of his contract to be guaranteed when the league year officially begins. By cutting him, Arizona will save close to $5 million in cap space.Mathieu became a star in the Arizona secondary after being selected in the third round of the 2013 draft following a troubled college career at LSU. He was an All-Pro in 2015, when he had five interceptions and 17 passes defensed. But he also has been plagued by injuries and only last season did Mathieu appear in all 16 games.RAVENSBaltimore frees up an estimated $5 million in salary cap space by releasing Maclin, who signed on as a free agent in June. But Maclin missed two games with a shoulder injury, two more with knee issues, and finished with only 40 catches for 440 yards and three touchdowns. The 84 receptions he had over the past two seasons (2016 with Kansas City) are three fewer than he had with the Chiefs in 2015.Then the Ravens agreed to deals with receivers John Brown and Ryan Grant.Brown, 27, spent four years in Arizona and is a speedy deep threat, something Baltimore desperately needs. He can also return kicks.Grant, also 27, was with Washington for four seasons.49ERSSan Francisco agreed to a four-year contract with running back Jerick McKinnon and a five-year deal with center-guard Weston Richburg. McKinnon replaces departing starter Carlos Hyde and Richburg could start anywhere in the interior line.”We see Weston as one of the top young interior offensive linemen in the NFL,” GM John Lynch said. ”His athleticism White Russell Bodine Jerseys , intelligence and attitude are a perfect fit for our scheme. Jerick has proven to be an extremely versatile football player whose speed, elusiveness and tackle-breaking ability make him a very difficult matchup for defenses. We can’t wait to get them on the field with their teammates and coaches later this spring.”GIANTSNew York agreed with offensive tackle Nate Solder, late of the Patriots, to become its starter on the left side. Solder, 29, will get a four-year contract worth about $62 million. The Giants can move 2015 first-round draft pick Ereck Flowers to the right side as they rebuild a line that has struggled for years.TITANSTennessee kept right guard Josh Kline and defensive end David King with new contracts after making a splash in free agency by getting Butler for $60 million over five years ($30 million guaranteed) and also taking running back Dion Lewis away from New England.BILLSThe Bills restocked their quarterback position by agreeing to a two-year contract with AJ McCarron. The 27-year-old spent the past four seasons backing up Andy Dalton in Cincinnati after being selected by the Bengals in the fifth round of the 2014 draft.McCarron’s signing came five days after Buffalo traded three-year starter Tyrod Taylor to Cleveland. The trade left 2017 fifth-round pick Nathan Peterman as the only quarterback on Buffalo’s roster.Buffalo also added defensive end Trent Murphy from Washington and got a needed pass rusher, albeit a player coming off a major injury.Murphy had 15 sacks in 47 games, including nine in 2016, then sat out last season after tearing two ligaments in his left knee in a preseason game. The Bills finished tied for 30th in the NFL with just 27 sacks last season. The Bills added defensive backfield depth by agreeing with safety Rafael Bush on a two-year contract, and got linebacker Julian Stanford on a two-year contract.FALCONSThe Falcons addressed a need by signing offensive guard Brandon Fusco, who started 16 games for San Francisco last season, to a three-year deal. Fusco, who began his career with the Vikings, could immediately start at right guard.DOLPHINSFive-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh officially was released, when the trades to acquire defensive end Robert Quinn and send Jarvis Landry to the Cleveland Browns were formalized.Miami also released tight end Julius Thomas, which had been expected Russell Bodine Jerseys 2019 , but decided to keep right tackle Ja’Wuan James, which guarantees him $9.34 million in 2018.CHARGERSTight end Virgil Green got a three-year contract and safety Adrian Phillips re-signed with a one-year deal.Green spent the past seven seasons with the Broncos, starting all 16 games last season and winning a Super Bowl ring in February 2016. His addition adds intrigue to whether the Chargers will bring back 37-year-old tight end Antonio Gates, who hopes to extend his record-setting career for at least another season.JETSNew York signed linebacker Avery Williamson to a three-year contract worth $22.5 million. Williamson spent his first four NFL seasons with Tennessee and led the Titans in tackles in two of those years. The Jets also tendered wide receiver Quincy Enunwa at the second-round level, worth $2.9 million. Enunwa was emerging as a threat before missing last season with a bulging disk in his neck that required surgery. He had a breakout season in 2016, catching 58 passes for 857 yards and four touchdowns.— ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Micah Hyde laughs at the recollection of just turned 20-year-old linebacker Tremaine Edmunds having difficulty spitting out calls in the defensive huddle during one of the Buffalo Bills first offseason practices in May.“They threw him in the fire and put him in the huddle and, man, he was tongue-tied,” the safety said. “We were all laughing, like, ‘Dude, just slow down, just calm down.'”Hyde raises the memory in making a point about how much Edmunds has matured with his rookie season coming to a close. Buffalo (5-9) has two games left and travels to play New England (9-5) on Sunday.“Now, he’s able to make adjustments just like anybody else,” Hyde said. “He gives us the call right away. He’s yelling to the sideline to get the play in. He’s come a long way.”The biggest indication of how far the second of Buffalo’s two first-round draft picks has come occurred during a weekly players-only defensive strategy meeting two weeks ago. That’s when defensive tackle Kyle Williams relinquished his usual spot at the front of the room and had Edmunds lead the session.“I went to him and said White Phillip Gaines Jerseys , ‘Hey, listen, I’ve been doing this for a long time, and when I look at you I see somebody who in my opinion is going to be a cornerstone here for a long time,'” said Williams, Buffalo’s longest-tenured active player and most respected leader. “I saw it as an opportunity to help him grow and to continue on the upward tick here the last few weeks of the season.”The significance wasn’t lost on Edmunds.“That meant a lot coming from a guy like that,” Edmunds said of the 13-year veteran. “I feel like if he didn’t trust me, he wouldn’t have done it at the time that he did it. I don’t like to let my teammates down. So I’m going to make sure I’m on top of my game for sure.”Slowly but surely, Edmunds is emerging as the defensive leader the Bills anticipated they were getting in trading up six spots to draft him 16th overall. At 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, Edmunds has showed off the combination of strength and speed that led him to be a Butkus Award finalist as the nation’s top linebacker following his junior year at Virginia Tech last season.Edmunds leads the Bills with 98 tackles, has a sack and been credited with 10 passes defensed and six quarterback hits, while playing 791 out of 879 defensive snaps this season. He has forced two fumbles and picked off Jets rookie Sam Darnold two weeks ago to become the NFL’s youngest player to intercept a pass. He’s accomplished this despite being six days shy of his 20th birthday when he was drafted, and while having to learn the intricacies and responsibilities that come with playing the middle linebacker spot after spending his three years at college playing the weak-side position.“It’s been a big change,” Edmunds acknowledged. “I’m still trying to take steps forward now. I feel like the sky’s the limit to where I can get to. I feel like I’m nowhere close to being as good as I could be.”There were several times earlier this season when an overeager Edmunds went the wrong way in being fooled by a fake handoff, or failed to fill a hole along the line of scrimmage. The mistakes were not unexpected, and veteran linebacker Lorenzo Alexander advised Edmunds to slow down and allow himself to read what’s happening before reacting.“Sometimes because he is so athletic Phillip Gaines Jerseys 2019 , they’ll get him out of position. So he’s learned to be more patient,” Alexander said. “And now, some of the things that people were attacking him on aren’t happening because he’s slowing down, and he has the experience to know how people have been attacking him.”New England coach Bill Belichick noted the improvement he’s seen in Edmunds since the AFC East teams met on Oct. 29.“He’s big, he’s fast, he’s getting better every week,” Belichick said. “He handles a lot of the higher degree of difficulty plays a lot better than what we saw going into the first game.”Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier often has to remind himself of Edmunds’ young age.“So young at what he’s doing, and to see his growth is just incredible,” Frazier said.“With his athletic ability, to be able to take the coaching, process it and go back out and not make the same mistake over and over again, he has the chance to be really good down the line.”

Giants at Panthers: 6 things we learned from the Giants’ loss

The New York Giants lost a heartbreaker to the Carolina Panthers Julian Love NFL Draft , 33-31, Sunday as the Panthers squeaked past the woebegone Giants with a last-second 63-yard field goal. The Giants broke the 30-point barrier (which, honestly, shouldn’t even BE a barrier for a team with the offensvie firepower the Giants boast) for the first time since 2015, but it wasn’t enough to overcome their own play. What can did we learn from the Giants’ tough loss in Carolina? The Giants’ special teams remain a problemAs Dan Pizzuta and I noted this week after the loss to the New Orleans Saints on the Big Blue reView podcast, it’s a sad state of affairs when the best thing you have to talk about on special teams is the improvement of your kicker. And kudos to Aldrick Rosas, because he HAS improved this season. Yes, he did kick one out of bounds on a slick field, but he nailed a career-long 53-yard field goal, has been perfect on the season, and solved any kick coverage problems by simply depositing the ball behind the opposing endzone. That’s about where the kudos will end. The Giants’ punt coverage remains an adventure, and they STILL can’t seem to find a reliable punt returner, even with Odell Beckham Jr.’s presence back there. The Giant added a bevy or special teams specialists in the offseason, and hired a new Special Teams Coordinator — though Tom Quinn remains as an assistant as Thomas McGauhey fights his own battle with cancer. We don’t talk much about special teams, but it is a vital part of the game. Even a great offense and defense can’t overcome the hidden yardage lost by bad special teams. It’s a problem the Giants need to fix, but they might not be able to do so this year. The Giants’ are undisciplinedSloppy tackling. Bad penalties.Poor routes.Mental mistakes and miscommunications on offense and defense. These things have been problems throughout the 2018 for the Giants, but they hadn’t come together quite like they did against the Carolina Panthers. Though the team came in to the game as the least-penalized team in the NFL Julian Love Buffalo Bills Jersey , the Giants are still undisciplined. The NFL has an officiating problemThis isn’t just limited to today’s game against the Giants. The officiating has been horrific league-wide all season long. The most egregious today was the unnecessary roughness penalty against Landon Collins as three Giants collided while coming for wide receiver Devin Funchess. The problem? Collins was going for the interception and Funchess fell into the back of Collins’ helmet. The play would have ended the Panthers’ drive, but instead the penalty kept the drive alive, which ended in points. Later in the game there was a somewhat questionable call on Kerry Wynn to cancel out a holding call on the Panthers which would have had them starting with a 1st and 20 on their final drive. These calls on the heels of a pair of terrible calls on Clay Matthews in the second and third weeks of the season, and a bevy of others around the NFL.Considering the Panthers only won by two points on a career-long 63-yard field goal as timethe difference in the game. Blame could also be levied on Odell Beckham’s mistake on special teams or the defense’s bad tackling in the first half. This has become a big problem across the league. One the league will either need to address or heir product will continue to suffer. The Giants playmakers can make playsFor the first time this season, the Giants’ playmakers all showed up and made plays. In the same game.Beckham’s blunder on special teams might have been the difference in the game, but he made up for it by throwing a 57-yard touchdown to Saquon Barkley and making a terrific catch for a 33-yard touchdown touchdown of his own. Sterling Shepard was clutch with four catches for 75 yards to help keep Giants’ drives alive.Saquon Barkley finished the game with 129 total yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Giants’ lost in a fashion that could have been called “fluky” if they hadn’t put themselves in that position with three quarters of bad, sloppy play. But, their playmakers did enough that they could have won, and showed the league what There is no running gameDave Gettleman introduced us all to the phrase “Hog Mollies” this past offseason as he vowed to “fix” it and return the Giants’ to a hard-nosed run-first offense. In doing so he threw money at Nate Solder and Patrick Omameh, drafted Will Hernandez and Saquon Barkley, let Justin Pugh, Weston Richburg, and D.J. Fluker walk in free agency and traded Brett Jones for a 7th round pick. In 2017 the Giants averaged 24.5 rushing attempts per game, for 3.9 yards per carry, and 2 sacks per game.In 2018 they are averaging 19.6 carries per game, 3.8 yards per carry, and 3.2 sacks per game. The offensive line is giving Eli Manning time to throw the ball Authentic Christopher Slayton Jersey , as he has had roughly league-average time to throw thus far this season, but the pass protection is unpredictable, and a jailbreak could occur on any play. And so far, the vast majority of the team’s 75 rushing yards per game have come from Barkley either making defenders miss with his agility, or running through arm tackles with his power. All while Barkley has been facing one of the lowest percentage of runs against eight-man boxes in the league. It could be argued that the Giants haven’t called enough running plays, but from Shurmur’s perspective, why bother? With some exceptions, Gettleman’s Hog Mollies have been playing like playing like piglets. The Giants actually showed some heartThe Giants could have folded up their tent and started back up for New York at the half. They played some pathetic football in the first two quarters. With the exception of Beckham and Barkley, they were uninspired on offense and the defense couldn’t tackle its way out of a wet paper bag. But they came out to play, really play, in the second half. Ultimately, it didn’t matter and they lost anyway. But this was the first loss in a long time that could actually be called a “heartbreaker”.Because the Giants FINALLY showed some damn heart. Beckham was getting ripped for his special teams blunder and having a touchdown ripped out of his hands — all after publicly criticizing his teammates for not matching his passion and energy. But in the second half, and especially the fourth quarter, the team finally seemed to find its way to feeding on Beckham.Eli Manning had his worst game of the season from an efficiency perspective, but he came out and attacked the defense. There were a couple bad interceptions and he was off target at times, but he didn’t spend the whole game checking down for easy completions. After his second interception he kept throwing the ball down the field and picked up more than 100 yards on 5 completions and a touchdown. He averaged 9.1 yards per attempt, up from around 6 yards per attempt against the New Orleans Saints Christopher Slayton Jersey Boys , Dallas Cowboys, and Jacksonville Jaguars.Beckham played like the receiver we all know he is, with 8 receptions for 131 yards and a touchdown. The defense played with fire, stepping up their run defense and held Christian McCaffrey to a season-low 3.4 yards per carry. They still miss Olivier Vernon off the edge, but they did get after Newton some in the passing game. They weren’t able to do quite enough to allow the offense to overcome bad play and bad calls, but this defense, which has played hard all season, stayed in it when it looked like they were going to have to once again carry a putrid offense. Does it mean anything and will they be able to carry it over to their Thursday night game against the Philadelphia Eagles? We’ll find out, but this feels as much like a win as possible for a heartbreaking loss. A Date To Remember is an occasional series Big Blue View will be running through the Super Bowl, highlighting the glory of the Giants’ past and celebrating the biggest playoff wins in franchise history. A Tale of Two Signature WinsNFC Divisional Round gamesJan. 13, 1991 Giants 31, Bears 3 Jan. 13, 2008Giants 21, Cowboys 17There was almost no one left. The Giants secondary had been decimated by injury, losing one starting cornerback and a top backup in the season’s final weeks. They arrived at Texas Stadium as touchdown underdogs for the 2007 NFC Divisional Round game with four healthy corners. Only three would finish the game.Starter Sam Madison and Kevin Dockery were inactive due to injury. Then Aaron Ross, the other starter, left in the third quarter and did not return. That left just three corners to stop Tony Romo Youth Eli Manning Jerseys , Terrell Owens, Jason Witten and the 13-3 Cowboys: Corey Webster, R.W. McQuarters and Geoffrey Pope. And Pope had spent the regular season on the practice squad, only promoted to the active roster the week of the Wild Card game win over Tampa Bay.So of course, the divisional round game came down to a Cowboys’ final-seconds drive and Romo firing passes into the end zone. But just like the rest of the 2007 Giants, those remaining cornerbacks rose to the challenge. McQuarters emerged as the hero, first by setting up the game-winning touchdown with a long punt return and then intercepting a Romo throw intended for Terry Glenn with nine seconds remaining. It sealed a 21-17 victory over top-seeded Dallas.“For me, the big one in 2007 was having lost twice against the Cowboys and going into their place and beating them,” kicker Lawrence Tynes told Big Blue View. He was the kicker on both the 2007 and 2011 Super Bowl champions. “That was a signature win. That was huge.”It propelled the Giants to bigger upsets to come. They became the first team to beat the NFC’s top seed in the divisional round since the current postseason format was adopted in 1990.It was the Giants’ second road playoff win that January, and one more remained in Green Bay. But that’s a story for a different day.The road was easier for the 1990 Giants — at least in the divisional round. Earning a first-round bye and home game as the No. 2 seed after a 13-3 regular season, they smothered the underdog Chicago Bears at Giants Stadium, 31-3.They dominated thanks to their suffocating defense and backup quarterback Jeff Hostetler, who threw two touchdown passes and ran for another in his playoff debut. The Giants limited Chicago to only 27 total rushing yards and not a single first down on the ground. Meanwhile, they held the ball for 38:22 thanks to Hostetler (10-of-17 passing for 112 yards) and their ball-control offense. And when the Bears tried to attack through the air, Mark Collins and Everson Walls intercepted passes from Mike Tomczak. The Giants had overcome Mike Ditka’s Bears and were headed to face the heavily-favored Joe Montana and the 14-2 49ers.Although both the 1990 and 2007 teams overcame long odds, they started in completely different circumstances,The 1990 Giants began 10-0 and did not hit significant turbulence until Phil Simms broke his foot in Week 15 against Buffalo. The 2007 squad faced adversity from the start. The Giants began the season 0-2 and trailed the Washington Redskins Eli Manning Jerseys Stitched , 17-3, at halftime in Week 3 on the road. They took a 24-17 lead with 5:32 remaining in the game, but the Redskins reached the Giants’ 1-yard-line with 58 seconds remaining and four downs to score.“We lose in Dallas [45-35]. We get killed at home against Green Bay [35-13]. And then we get down to a third- and a fourth-and-goal against the Redskins looking at 0-3 right in the face,” Tynes said. “Then Kawika Mitchell makes an unbelievable tackle to stop them [on third down and James Butler made a stop on fourth down]. “And we got on a little run.”They won six in a row and nine out of 11 to finish 10-6 and earn a Wild Card berth.“We looked at it as a new life, a new beginning,” Tynes said.Against Dallas, Eli Manning (12-of-18 passing for 163 yards) threw two touchdown passes to Amani Toomer (four receptions for 80 yards, including a 52-yard touchdown on the opening possession). Manning led the game-deciding scoring drive early in the fourth quarter. It began with a 25-yard McQuarters punt return, setting up the Giants at the Dallas’ 37-yard line. The possession ended with Brandon Jacobs’ 1-yard touchdown run. That left the injury-ravaged secondary to protect a 21-17 lead over the final 13:29. And it did, thanks to a serious pass rush that led the NFL in sacks. It produced only two of Romo (Mitchell and Reggie Torbor), but harassed him all day.Yet Dallas still had chances. Romo threw two passes into the end zone in the final 20 seconds. The first — on third down — fell incomplete. On fourth down, McQuarters stepped in front of Glenn for the interception. It was the Giants’ ninth straight road win.“It was an interesting team,” Tynes said. “There was a lot of moves being made [by general manager Jerry Reese] in the first couple months. The Dave Tollefsons of the world. The Kevin Boothes. The Domenik Hixons. The roster was constantly fluctuating for the first couple of months. “And then as we started winning, things obviously started to settle down.”Two divisional playoff games 17 years apart. Two wins. Two teams that advanced to NFC Championship games. The 1990 Giants were headed to San Francisco. The 2007 Giants were headed to Green Bay.The rest, as they say, is history.
