The Buffalo Bills’ long-awaited playoff appearance

might not have been so short-lived had their coaching staff played the percentages and not a hunch in their 10-3 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. On first-and-goal from the Jaguars 1 Andre Reed Jersey , coach Sean McDermott and offensive coordinator Rick Dennison elected to call a run-pass option instead of asking quarterback Tyrod Taylor to either run it in himself or hand it off to running back LeSean McCoy against one of the most vulnerable run defenses in the playoffs. ”I want a running play,” McCoy said. ”It was a play I was lobbying for the whole time and it didn’t work out …” Instead, Taylor lofted a fade pass toward the left corner of the end zone where Kelvin Benjamin was whistled for offensive pass interference on All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, pushing the Bills back 10 yards. The drive stalled from there and Stephen Haushka’s 31-yard field goal was all the Bills had to show for their 18-play, 71-yard drive that took 8:06, their only decent drive all game. McDermott also botched the end of the first half by calling pass plays on second-and-6 at his 14 (incomplete) and the next down (5-yard completion to Zay Jones in which he was pushed out of bounds). Instead of taking a knee and heading to the locker room with a 3-0 lead, the Bills gave the Jaguars the ball back with enough time to get into field goal range and score and gain some momentum heading into the locker room. The Bills’ curious play call, however, paled in contrast to the series of odd calls by referee Jeff Triplette’s playoff crew in Kansas City, where the Tennessee Titans overcame an 18-point halftime deficit to shock the Chiefs 22-21. ”Horrible way to start the playoffs,” tweeted Mike Pereira , the former NFL officiating chief turned Fox sports analyst. ”I hate to say it, but this was not a good performance by the crew. Teams and fans deserve better.” A day later Womens Shaq Lawson Jersey , Pereira praised both Tony Corrente’s crew in New Orleans and John Hussey’s crew in Jacksonville, adding, ”Yesterday is a memory. I feel bad for Jeff Triplette. He is a great man who was part of a crew that did not have a good game. I feel bad that he is retiring under this cloud.” After Marcus Mariota caught his own deflected pass for a touchdown Saturday, Triplette explained that the Titans quarterback was an eligible receiver because he had lined up in the shotgun formation rather than under center. There is no such rule in the NFL. Whenever a defensive player deflects a pass, every offensive player is allowed to catch the ricochet, including the quarterback and it matters not where he lined up when the play began. Then, there was the very quick whistle that negated a fumble recovery by Justin Houston after fellow linebacker Derrick Johnson sacked Mariota in the second quarter. Mariota fumbled a split-second after contact, but Triplette said the QB’s forward progress had been stopped before the fumble. Forward progress is usually called when a running back is stopped and defenders are piling on him or several defenders drape a quarterback. Hardly ever is it applied when a QB is going to the ground on initial contact by a single defender. As a judgment call, Chiefs coach Andy Reid was helpless to throw his red challenge flag, and Ryan Succop kicked a field goal on the next play. ”The defender hit him and he was driving him back,” Triplette said after the game. The officials had one more gaffe in them, one that was corrected on replay review. The crew initially called a fumble on Titans running back Derrick Henry late in the fourth quarter, signaling touchdown when Johnson scooped up the ball and rumbled into the end zone as fireworks lit up the sky. The replays showed he was down before the ball came loose. Before wild-card weekend began http://www.thebillslockerroom.com/authentic-logan-thomas-jersey , there were several notable calls concerning the Cincinnati Bengals. Bills fans giddy over Buffalo ending the longest playoff drought in North American pro sports made a surge in donations to Andy Dalton’s foundation , their way of thanking the Bengals QB for his role in the Bills’ first invitation to the postseason party in 17 years. Dalton’s foundation received more than $300,000 in donations after the Bengals beat the Ravens 31-27 in the regular-season finale when Dalton threw a 49-yard TD pass with 44 seconds left to eliminate Baltimore and open a spot for Buffalo. ”I think I’m the hottest guy in Buffalo right now,” Dalton said. While the Bills’ long streak of playoff futility is over, the Bengals’ streak continues. They haven’t won a playoff game since the 1990 season, the sixth-longest streak of postseason futility in NFL history. They’ve lost all seven of their playoff games since that season, including an NFL-record five straight first-round defeats from 2011-15. The Bengals missed out on the playoffs for a second straight season, going 7-9. They won their last two games, knocking the Lions and Ravens out of the playoff race. That was enough for owner Mike Brown to give coach Marvin Lewis a two-year extension and two more chances to try to get the Bengals that playoff victory that has eluded him for 15 seasons. Lewis has the second-longest active coaching tenure in the NFL, behind only Bill Belichick’s 18 seasons with New England. Unlike Belichick, who has won five Super Bowls and made two other appearances in the title game, Lewis is 0-7 in the playoffs, the worst such coaching record in NFL history. In Denver Josh Allen Jersey , John Elway thought long and hard about canning coach Vance Joseph after a 5-11 debut but decided to stick with him. However, Joseph fired a half dozen assistants, saying it was time to change the culture ”so we could get back to pushing our players to be the best that they can be.” All six of the fired coaches directed rookies who underperformed in 2017, so they’re the ones shouldering the blame for Elway’s so-far dismal draft class. Elway said at his season-ending news conference he’s not perfect and always striving to learn, but he took a jab at a reporter , suggesting that when he finally has this front office football job perfected, he’ll retire and go into radio because then he’ll be a fellow know-it-all. — We break down Buffalo’s schedule, give our final choices for pick No. 9, and mention players/positions to avoid with that pick."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections NewsNotesOpinionAnalysisDiscussionPodcastNFL DraftSalary CapNFL DraftOpinionBuffalo Bills NFL Draft CoverageBillieve Podcast: Schedule release, final draft chatterWe break down Buffalo’s schedule, give our final choices for pick No. 9, and mention players/positions to avoid with that pick.EDTShareTweetShareShareBillieve Podcast: Schedule release, final draft chatterOn the latest episode of Billieve: A Buffalo Bills Fan Podcast Womens LeSean McCoy Jersey , host John Boccacino and co-host Anthony Marino discuss the unveiling of the 2019 Buffalo Bills’ schedule, and give their final thoughts on what Buffalo should (and shouldn’t) do with the No. 9 overall pick in the NFL Draft. The schedule is highlighted by Buffalo’s first Thanksgiving game in 25 years when the Bills travel to Dallas Nov. 28. The Bills open the season with back-to-back games in New Jersey against the New York Jets and New York Giants before welcoming Andy Dalton and the Cincinnati Bengals to Orchard Park in Week 3 for the home opener. Buffalo closes out the opening month of the season hosting Tom Brady and the reigning Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, one of four playoff teams on Buffalo’s schedule in 2019. The Bills—the only team in the league without a true primetime game—will play a balanced schedule featuring two home games in every month. The Bills don’t have a west-coast trip, and outside of the trek to Dallas and to South Beach for the clash with the Miami Dolphins, the Bills won’t be logging as many travel miles this year as they have in the past.Boccacino and Marino also offer up their final thoughts on who Buffalo should draft with the No. 9 overall pick in next week’s NFL Draft, and mention who/what position they would steer clear of with Buffalo’s first-round pick. What do you think, Bills fans? How excited are you for the Thanksgiving game? Are there any other road trips you’ll be making this year? What would you do at pick No. 9 if you were general manager Brandon Beane? Are there any players/positions you hope Buffalo steers clear of with the pick? The Giants don’t have a losing record after four games for the first time since 2016.They are 2-2 after an easy 24-3 win over Washington in quarterback Daniel Jones‘s first home start for the team. Jones wasn’t nearly as electric as he was in his Week Three debut, but did make some plays with his feet and his two interceptions wound up leading to just three points against a hapless Washington side.Jones threw a touchdown to cap the first possession of the game and the Giants raced out to a 14-0 lead that wouldn’t be threatened even with the offense only putting up three more points over the course of the afternoon.Reports this week indicated that head coach Jay Gruden might get fired after a loss and there wasn’t much to recommend an extended stay on Sunday. Washington forced four turnovers Womens Daniel Jones Jersey , but their offense was dismal before and after benching Case Keenum for Dwayne Haskins. Keenum threw an interception early and the first-round pick threw three interceptions in the second half. That supports Gruden’s belief that the rookie isn’t ready to start, but Keenum hasn’t looked more prepared the last couple of weeks. If Gruden’s back for the next game, perhaps Colt McCoy will get a look.Outside of the quarterbacking, Washington could point to 12 penalties as a major reason for their fourth straight loss to open the season. Given the thin amount of talent on hand Authentic Daniel Jones Jersey , there’s no way to overcome that kind of self-destructiveness.Wayne Gallman lost a fumble, but otherwise had a solid game in his first start in place of the injured Saquon Barkley. He ran 18 times for 63 yards, caught six passes for 55 yards and scored two touchdowns. Sterling Shepard added seven catches for 76 yards and the Giants will remain at home to host the Vikings next week in what figures to be a step up in competition after Sunday’s snoozer.

Tonight’s primetime game is therefore a relaxing affair, and a chance to scout a team that is on New England’s schedule later this year. So what does this mean for the club? And who should Patriots fans root for? The Chiefs will be without Patrick Mahomes, which should help the Patriots get their preferred result: a Green Bay victory. Why Aaron Rodgers and company are the team to root for is pretty obvious considering that Kansas City is one of the premier teams in the AFC and one of New England’s main competitors for the number one playoff seed in the conference. THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Rams defensive back Nickell Robey-Coleman will pay his fine from the NFL for a helmet-to-helmet hit on New Orleans receiver Tommylee Lewis in the NFC championship game. The Rams’ slot cornerback wants to move past the drama surrounding that now-infamous hit, which also appeared to happen well before Drew Brees‘ pass arrived in the fourth quarter last Sunday. No flag was thrown for pass interference or for the helmet-to-helmet nature of the hit Youth Hjalte Froholdt Jersey , possibly altering the outcome of Los Angeles’ 26-23 overtime victory at New Orleans.“It’s all good, and I’m moving on,” Robey-Coleman said. “That’s how the league feels. That’s their call.”Robey-Coleman confirmed he received a fine from the NFL on Friday, essentially a tacit acknowledgement by the league that a penalty should have been called. The NFL Network reported he was fined $26,739.Robey-Coleman wouldn’t say whether he agreed with the league’s decision to fine him for helmet-to-helmet contact, but the veteran defensive back acknowledged after the game that he could have easily been whistled for pass interference.“It’s the league’s call Womens Hjalte Froholdt Jersey , the ref’s call,” Robey-Coleman said. “I have nothing to do with that (decision). I made a football play. The ref made his call, and there’s nothing else that I could do about it. That’s their call, and that’s something that you just have to live with as a football team, and we’re going to the Super Bowl, so we just have to move on.”They’re not done talking about it in New Orleans Authentic Hjalte Froholdt Jersey , however. The no-call has sparked outrage among the Saints and their fans, including calls for a Super Bowl boycott. Two lawsuits have been filed over the officiating, calling for everything from a replay of the game’s final moments to full refunds for Superdome fans.New Orleans coach Sean Payton said the referees “blew the call.”If Robey-Coleman had been flagged, the Saints would have been able to wind down the clock to the final seconds of regulation before kicking a short field goal, putting them in a commanding position to win. Instead, the Rams are going to their first Super Bowl in 17 years after they drove for a tying field goal and an overtime winner. The Rams have been diplomatic about their fortunate break Hjalte Froholdt Jersey Boys , acknowledging the sketchy nature of Robey-Coleman’s hit while also gently pointing out that one play doesn’t decide any game.“All we do as coaches, if a (penalty) is called, we usually get mad if it’s against us,” Los Angeles defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said. “If a (penalty) is not called, we thought they were holding Aaron Donald or something. But if they don’t call it, you go to the next play. That’s the way the game has been played for a long time.”By paying the fine instead of appealing it Infant Hjalte Froholdt Jersey , Robey-Coleman hopes to turn his focus to facing Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl in Atlanta next weekend. Robey-Coleman is likely to line up extensively against Julian Edelman, the Patriots’ vaunted slot receiver.“Him and Tom (Brady) work great together,” said Robey-Coleman, who faced the Patriots repeatedly during his time in the AFC East with the Buffalo Bills. “Can’t wait to get on the field and play against those guys.”

The former Dolphins coach was in Arizona earlier in the week. The Jets’ decision to interview Gase makes sense given he went 5-1 against them in his three seasons. He also was on the staff of the Lions and 49ers in his NFL coaching career that began in 2003 in Detroit. The Jets announced Wednesday they had completed an interview with Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets"Good morning, Jet fans! I hope everyone’s having a great start to their day. If you haven’t heard by now, the Jets have signed star RB Le’Veon Bell. This is an elite signing by the Jets White Chris Herndon Jerseys , and they managed to get him for what I would consider great value. This signing instantly boosts the Jets offense, and allows Sam Darnold to have an amazing receiver as his safety valve out of the backfield. The Jets also have re-signed LB Neville Hewitt. There’s still a fairly large amount of question marks throughout the roster, so hopefully we get some more questions answered today.
The Vikings confirmed that Kevin Stefanski

will be returning to the team as their offensive coordinator in 2019.The announcement came after reports earlier on Wednesday that Stefanski would stay in Minnesota after interviewing for the Browns’ head coaching job. Freddie Kitchens is expected to be officially announced as the new head coach in Cleveland.“Kevin is a smart young coach with a bright future Discount Alexander Mattison Jersey ,” head coach Mike Zimmer said in a statement. “I’m happy to have him take over the offensive coordinator job. His work ethic and teaching ability have been obvious to me behind the scenes since I came here five years ago. He’s well respected by coaches and players both and I know he’s up to the task.”The 2019 season is the final one on Zimmer’s current contract and he said last week that he’s comfortable coaching out the year without any extension. If that’s how things go on the contract front and Stefanski’s not up to the task, the chances both men are looking for jobs next year could be good. The Vikings have spent some recent draft capital on cornerbacks, selecting three in the first round of the past six drafts. Of the eight first-rounders in that stretch, the Vikings took Xavier Rhodes 25th in 2013, Trae Waynes 11th in 2015 and Mike Hughes 30th in 2018.They also used a second-round choice on cornerback Mackensie Alexander in 2016.So General Manager Rick Spielman has been told in no uncertain terms that he will not use a first-round pick on a cornerback this year.“Everybody has angst,” Spielman said Tuesday. “My wife . . . I’ll leave that at home. She said, ‘If you draft another corner, don’t come home. You can just stay at the office.’ Although there’s some pretty good corners that we like in the first round.”The question was about the Vikings’ need for offensive linemen. The Vikings Stitched Olisaemeka Udoh Jersey , though, aren’t willing to reach for an offensive lineman when it’s their time to select.“I understand where everything is, but I also understand that if we have a guy that we think is a Pro Bowl talent, and for some reason that guy falls to us at 18, how do you not take that player?” Spielman said. “Plus, you have to balance out the depth at each position, too. If there’s a unique situation where a Pro Bowl-caliber player falls to you at 18, and you’re taking a lesser talented player Olisaemeka Udoh Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , I think you’re going to make a mistake. But I also believe with the depth at certain positions, when it goes into the Friday draft, you’re also going to get some pretty significant players. We always look as we make the decisions, you have a player at this position and a player at this position, and which one are you going to take? We can say we’re going to take this one because underneath him, there’s a huge drop off [in the position groups’ talent]. So if we don’t take him right here, we’re not going to get a need filled with a good player. If there’s four or five more players underneath that we do like, that’s when the potential is to take the one of those guys that falls to you. It could also be trading back in the draft to accumulate more draft picks Minnesota Vikings Jerseys Stitched , because we’re still going to get that same value of player as long as we have those four or five names there. You also have to really pay attention to where the run of the positions go in the draft.“Two years ago, we had to move up to get Pat Elflein, for example, because there was a run right in there, and he was one of the few players left that we liked. Last year the run on the offensive linemen went earlier than where we picked. You have to weigh all that out, and you have to be able to react once you see how that board is coming off and where the runs are on positions.”

GREEN BAY Devin Singletary Jersey Draft , Wis. (AP) — This is more like it for the Green Bay Packers. The offense built a big lead as quarterback Aaron Rodgers gutted through another game with a brace on his injured left knee. The defense had seven sacks and pitched a shutout for the first time in eight seasons. They put together their most complete game of the year in a 22-0 win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.“I’ll just definitely start off with the defense. I mean, the shutout is huge. It’s what you’re looking for,” coach Mike McCarthy said. And just the edge that the Packers (2-1-1) needed with Rodgers not necessarily playing at his best. He was 22 of 40 for 298 yards with one touchdown. Green Bay had decisive edges in total offense (423-145) and first downs (22-11).Rodgers also threw an interception off a deflected pass and fumbled the ball away on a sack early in the fourth quarter. The offense wasn’t as productive in the second half after a fast start.Ever the perfectionist, Rodgers certainly wasn’t pleased, even if he seemed to be moving a little bitter this week.“It was as bad as we’ve played on offense with that many yards in a long time,” Rodgers said. The Bills (1-3) were much worse.Rookie quarterback Josh Allen accounted for three turnovers, including two interceptions and a fumble late in the fourth quarter that stood on review. He was 16 of 33 for 151 yards. The Bills had a much tougher time on the road in the NFC North, a week after a stunning win at heavily favored Minnesota.“I take this one on my shoulders,” Allen said. “We can only go as far as the quarterback goes.”Buffalo did manage to force Rodgers to throw his first interception of the year .But a 16-0 lead at the half was more than enough cushion against Buffalo’s feeble offense. Even the return of running back LeSean McCoy, who missed a game because of a rib injury, didn’t help the Bills (1-3).“We were out of rhythm on offense. We needed to find some consistency,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said.GOING TO GRAHAMRodgers and Jimmy Graham connected on their first touchdown pass of the year . Signed in the offseason as a free agent, the athletic tight end made his first official Lambeau Leap after a touchdown earlier this season was wiped out by a flag.“Usually they come in bunches, so hopefully this is the beginning,” said Graham, who finished with 21 yards on three catches.ANOTHER AARONAaron Jones added 65 yards and a score on 11 carries for the Packers, who slowed in the second half after a fast start on offense. A slasher with big-play ability, Jones could eventually emerge as the top ballcarrier in the Packers’ crowded backfield.PACKER POINTSGreen Bay posted its first shutout since a 9-0 win over the Jets in 2010. … Mason Crosby kicked two 52-yard field goals, bouncing back after an extra-point attempt in the first quarter hit the right upright. … S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix picked up his third interception of the year.BAD BILLSA physical defense for Green Bay held the Bills to eight punts and three turnovers on their first 11 drives. Allen was sacked seven times, three by Kyler Fackrell.“We’ve got to make sure we establish the line of scrimmage and that sets up the running game, that sets up the pass game Devin Singletary NFL Jersey ,” McDermott said. “But you’ve got to make sure you’re winning your one-on-one, whatever that is.”McCoy finished with 24 yards on five carries, and 13 yards on three receptions. He walked out of the locker room after the game with what appeared his left hand heavily wrapped.HEY CLAYThings went so well for the D that linebacker Clay Matthews was credited for a half-sack after drawing roughing-the-passer penalties in each of the first three weeks. He finished with five tackles and a hurry on the 6-foot-5 Allen.“Allen is a big kid, so I don’t think any of his sacks were those weight or pressure on them that you’ve seen weeks prior,” Matthews said. “But hopefully they call it like that moving forward because I didn’t see any today, which is great.”INJURY REPORTBills WR Kelvin Benjamin had one catch for 34 yards before leaving in the third quarter to be evaluated for a head injury. Benjamin absorbed a hard hit from Clinton-Dix on a play that also led to the safety’s interception. … S Micah Hyde had a disappointing return to Lambeau after leaving in the first quarter with a groin injury. Hyde left the Packers as a free agent after the 2016 season. … Packers WR Geronimo Allison left in the third quarter to be evaluated for a concussion.UP NEXTBills: Host Tennessee Titans on Oct. 7.Packers: Visit Detroit Lions on Oct. 7. After a disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Buffalo Bills are looking to rebound against the Washington Redskins on Sunday. A lot of people are picking the Bills to win this one with ease but don’t be surprised if Washington gives Buffalo a run for their money. To preview the match-up we talked to Andrew York from Hogs Haven to see what’s going on in Washington.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="ZMX1Oq">1) What has been the reaction to the whole Trent Williams situation this year? It’s been a roller coaster. When it was first reported that Trent didn’t report for mandatory practice, I think fans were evenly divided about whether or not the team should trade him or try to retain him. He still had 2 more years on his contract, so most fans weren’t in favor of extending him if he just wanted more money (considering he had been paid like a top-5 LT for years). As time went on, we got more reports that the holdout wasn’t just about money, and had at least as much to do with his frustration with team doctors. For a long time, both Trent Williams and the front office refused to talk much about this situation, so we didn’t really know what each side’s grievances were. As I write this Halloween night, Trent Williams has just today given a press interview where he goes into detail about his side of things. He says a lump on his head was discovered 6 years ago and dismissed by team doctors as benign, but this offseason was diagnosed as a rare and potentially life-threatening cancer and removed in a major surgery from which he is still recovering (he hasn’t been medically cleared to play yet). This story is still breaking, so I won’t opine too much about it yet, as more will undoubtedly come out in time. It could explain the team’s reluctance to entertain trade talks (if he wasn’t medically cleared to play) and it could explain the somewhat personal way in which Trent seems to have been refusing to stay with the team. Given that we still have much to learn, I’ll only say that trading Trent would probably be in everyone’s best interests. Trent wants to go, and the team needs draft capital more than expensive Pro Bowl veterans in what looks to be a rebuild.2) Are fans ready to see Dwayne Haskins get game action the rest of the season?I think the fanbase is somewhat evenly split about whether or not Haskins should be starting right now. There are quite a few who think he should be getting that game experience in a lost season, but there are also quite a few who think starting him too early would be detrimental to his development. However, almost every coach Devin Singletary NFL Draft , player, and former player who is asked about it seems to think Haskins isn’t ready to start, and I tend to think they know what they’re talking about more than fans do. I’d rather the football people make that decision based on what they see in practice, and clearly what they see isn’t good enough yet. Ever since the Redskins drafted Haskins, they have been preaching patience with him, so I think they knew from the start that he was a very raw prospect (only started one year in college) with tremendous talent who would require time to develop.Given that lead QB Case Keenum is in the concussion protocol, we may not have a choice. I think the team would clearly prefer to start Keenum, but it looks like Haskins will start if Keenum isn’t cleared in time. I personally think that it’s fine to continue starting Keenum if Haskins isn’t ready for now, but Haskins needs to start a few games this year so the team can evaluate him in games. The Redskins will likely have a top-3 pick in next year’s draft without needing to trade, the first time that has been the case in many years. We need to know if that rare pick should be spent on a QB or if we can trade back and build the rest of the team around Haskins.3) What can this team improve on to make the season somewhat of a success? The team can improve upon virtually every aspect of play and coaching. In terms of likely areas of growth, I think the team is getting better at rushing the ball with interim head coach Bill Callahan’s commitment to the run game. The passing offense was largely designed by former head coach Jay Gruden and the rushing offense was largely designed by Bill Callahan, and the two never meshed well together in years past (largely because the run and pass plays looked different, telegraphing our intent). New offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell was brought in this year to help make the run game mesh with the pass game, and Callahan’s commitment to running the ball has really set up the play-action passing game. The offense still looks bad (largely due to poor QB play), but I think we will have a productive rushing game that helps out the passing game due to play-action passes. We can also get more passes to rookie wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who has looked like one of the steals of the draft. He has 4.3 speed, but is also a polished route runner and is surprisingly physical. He is one of the players the Redskins will be building around for years, and we need to get him more involved. On the other side of the ball, I think the defense started out terrible, but has been slowly improving over the course of the season (even if it’s not obvious in the box score). We’ve got a lot of young players on defense who were making mistakes early on, but have since started to develop more consistent play. We’ve also got several veteran players who were sidelined by injury Devin Singletary Buffalo Bills Jersey , but are now coming back healthy. As much as our defensive coordinator Greg Manusky has been (deservedly) maligned by Redskins fans, I think he has finally started to improve his playcalling and defensive scheming too. I don’t think the defense will be great, but I expect it to be better than one of the NFL’s worst (like in the first few weeks of the season).4) How should Buffalo go about attacking this team?On offense, Buffalo should go for lots of screens and passes to RBs (our LBs are terrible in coverage), as well as the occasional deep shot to a speedy WR matched up with CB Josh Norman in coverage. Josh Norman was once an All-Pro talent, but has been pretty terrible this year, particularly against deep threats. Buffalo should not go for runs up the middle, as we’re a bit better at defending that with a capable interior defensive line.On defense, Buffalo should double-team WR Terry McLaurin to shut down the passing game. He’s our only pass catcher who consistently gets open, though getting open is no guarantee of success with Case Keenum throwing the ball. You should also stack the box, because our offense is likely to lean on the run. If Case Keenum starts at QB, you should shift coverages right before the snap, because he often seems to decide where he’s going to throw before the snap and stares down his intended pass catcher. If Dwayne Haskins starts, just use lots of disguised coverages and blitzes. The game is still too fast for him.5) Predictions for Sunday? The Bills win, but maybe not by a lot. The Redskins offense will be terrible and will likely give up a lot of turnovers to a great Bills secondary. But I think the Redskins defense won’t be as terrible as their season rankings make them seem. We have a lot of good players on defense, and they’ve been slowly gelling over the course of the season. They will continue to get placed in bad situations by the offense, but I think they could keep this a low scoring game. Especially if the defensive players up front can get pressure on Josh Allen. I predict a low-scoring Bills win, though I am always prepared for my Redskins to disappoint even those low expectations.

To put that accomplishment in perspective, the Giants have since had three head coaches (Ben McAdoo, Steve Spagnuolo, and Pat Shurmur) and two defensive coordinators (Spagnuolo and James Bettcher). That’s a mighty long dry spell for a defensive unit that claims to pride itself on being aggressive in getting after the quarterback. This year with an improved defensive secondary on board to hopefully hold the coverage better, there is hope that the Giants will not only be in the top half of the league in sacks but will have one of their young players, such as second-year man Lorenzo Carter, emerge as a double-digit sack artist. The basicsHeight: 6-foot-5Weight: 252Age: 23Position: EdgeExperience: 2How he got hereCarter was a third-round pick (No. 66 overall) out of the University of Georgia and the eighth linebacker chosen overall in the 2017 draft. However, like most young draft picks Julian Love Buffalo Bills Jersey , Carter’s jump from college, where in four seasons he posted 166 total tackles (83 solo), 21.5 tackles for a loss, 14.0 sacks and six forced fumbles, to the pros is a work in progress. In 442 defensive snaps over 15 games (with two starts), Carter finished with 43 tackles, 4.0 sacks, and four passes defensed — not bad numbers for his first season. According to Pro Football Focus, Carter finished tied for 11th (out of 25 rookie edge rushers) in pass-rushing productivity with a 6.3 score achieved in 298 pass-rush snaps. His 17 hurries put him in the top 10 among rookie edge rushers Authentic Christopher Slayton Jersey , tying him for ninth with Frankie Luvu of the Jets and Uchenna Nwosu of the Chargers. But like most rookies, Carter underwent a transition period where he probably wasn’t playing as fast as he is capable of doing, a factor not lost on outside linebackers coach Mike Dawson, who will work with Carter and the rest o the edge rushers for the first time this year.“He’s got the tools where he’s strong enough, and he’s got the athletic ability,” Dawson said. “Really kind of getting to know this language. He was in kind of a 3-4 system in college, but some of the terms are different. It may be the same term, just named something different, and having to process that in your head. When you don’t have to think about that Christopher Slayton Jersey Boys , I think that helps you play a little bit better.” 2019 outlookWith Olivier Vernon having been traded to Cleveland, Carter will get a golden opportunity to compete for some of those snaps in tandem with Markus Golden. Defensive coordinator James Bettcher, who is counting on Carter to play a more prominent role in this year’s defense, noted that like all players before him, it’s all about building up one’s resume.“Lorenzo Carter has to build his resume,” Bettcher said. “The only way the guys get a chance to do that is on the field getting snaps. Getting their butt coached off and taking it.”Carter, who spoke before this year’s draft, sounded patient when it came to questions about feeling pressure to add sacks. “Sacks are going to come. Sacks are the things that people over analyze and like to look at a lot,” he said. “If we play the way we are supposed to play and work fast and hard Youth Eli Manning Jerseys , it is going to come. Everything will fall into place. I am not worried about trying to add sacks to the team. It will come.”Sacks might eventually come, but it would sure help in the meantime if players can get off blocks and at least pressure opposing quarterbacks into throwing quicker than they’d prefer. The Giants continue to say Eli Manning remains the starting quarterback. Daniel Jones continues to make that look like a difficult decision.Jones is once again playing well in the preseason this evening, taking over for Manning after one series and looking like he has complete command of the offense. At halftime Jones is 9-for-11 for 141 yards. From all indications, all of the decision-makers on the Giants — owner John Mara, General Manager Dave Gettleman and coach Pat Shurmur — are on the same page that Manning is the starting quarterback and Jones will develop better in the long run if he has some time to learn while watching Manning from the sideline. But how long that can last remains to be seen. Jones’ impressive preseason could put a lot of pressure on Manning to play well early this season, or else he could lose his starting job and not get it back.

Some of those quarterbacks organize one block of time to work with receivers, but Darnold has doubled down.Manish Mehta of the reports that Darnold is holding the second round this week and weekend as the start of training camp draws closer.Darnold is familiar with players like Robby Anderson Kelvin Beachum Jerseys 2019 , Quincy Enunwa and Chris Herndon after playing with them last season, but has to get accustomed to working with Le'Veon Bell and Jamison Crowder after they arrived as free agents.

Vikings running back Dalvin Cook seemed to be on track for a stellar season in 2017 Brett Jones Jersey , until a non-contact torn ACL ended his rookie campaign. He’s now feeling like he’s ready to roll, again.“I’m getting back to how I used to feel,” Cook said this week, via Dane Mizutani of the . “My confidence [is] out the roof. I feel great. I’ve had a great offseason.”Cook had 444 yards from scrimmage through four starts as a rookie, before suffering the injury that sidelined him until 2018. Last year, chronic hamstring problems held Cook to 615 rushing yards and 305 receiving yards, in 11 regular-season games. He had only one 100-yard rushing performance.Cook thinks he can do much more this year.“I feel like the ceiling is real high for me,” Cook said. “Everything I want is still in front of me. Everything I can do is still in front of me. I’m capable of doing a lot of things. I still haven’t scratched the surface yet.”To get there, the key will be to stay healthy. Cook has yet to prove he can do that. For running backs, it’s a critical component of the player’s overall game. Once Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings took the lead on Green Bay Dan Bailey Jersey , they played with a fierce refusal to let it go.They held onto the ball with the same determination.Cousins bounced back from his worst game of the season with 342 passing yards and three touchdowns without a fumble or an interception, and the Vikings overcame some early gaffes to outlast the depleted Packers for a 24-17 victory on Sunday night.Completing 29 of his 38 attempts, Cousins found Dalvin Cook , Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen for scores. Diggs and Thielen had eight receptions apiece.“It just kind of shows his character, shows what kind of player he is, to be able to just not really care what people talk about him, not really care about what happened last week,” Thielen said of Cousins, adding: “The throws he was making, his full game was really impressive. That’s what you expect out of him.”Sheldon Richardson had two sacks to lead the defense’s game-long stifling of Aaron Rodgers Tom Compton Jersey , and the Vikings (6-4-1) pushed the Packers (4-6-1) further back in the NFC wild card race. The Vikings won a night game for the first time this season after losing to the top three teams in the NFC: to the Rams in Los Angeles, at home to the New Orleans Saints and at Chicago in a two-interception game by Cousins against the first-place Bears. The Vikings entered the weekend with the fourth-most turnovers in the NFL, and Cousins has been charged with 13 of the 16 giveaways. Coach Mike Zimmer was so impressed by the way Cousins played against the Packers that he gave him the game ball in the locker room afterward .“Last week left a bad taste in our mouths,” Cousins said, “and the chance to come back on Sunday night football against a division rival at home was a great opportunity, and I’m glad we made the most of it.”Rodgers threw a touchdown pass to Davante Adams and Aaron Jones scored on a short run for a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter, but the Packers fell to 0-6 on the road this season and 1-5-1 against the Vikings in their last seven meetings. Their final seven possessions produced only one field goal, with five punts and one turnover on downs.“We’ve all got to play better, myself included,” Rodgers said. “Started off the game nice. We had a couple good drives. We’re rolling there. We hit our unfortunate typical lull and didn’t get it going again.”With Randall Cobb out (hamstring) for a sixth game this season and rookies Equanimeous St. Brown (elbow) and Trevor Davis (hamstring) forced out in the second half Alexander Mattison Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , Rodgers didn’t have much to work with down the field. Left guard Lane Taylor (quadriceps) departed in the first half and left tackle David Bakhtiari (knee) was sidelined in the second half, leaving the protection shaky at best. Rodgers finished 17 for 28 for 198 yards, without a turnover. The Packers failed to move the chains on eight of 10 third downs. Jones was stuffed on fourth-and-inches by Harrison Smith, Danielle Hunter and Eric Kendricks midway through the third quarter, giving the Vikings the ball at the Green Bay 44. That set up a 37-yard field goal by Dan Bailey for Minnesota’s first lead of the game.“We’re definitely not in the position, record-wise, we thought we would be in coming into the year or even after this game. We thought we could get the victory. But unfortunately we ran out of gas,” Packers linebacker Clay Matthews said. “We’re beat up, no doubt about that. But give them credit: They put in a full four quarters.”SLOW STARTThe Vikings outgained the Packers 280-139 in total yardage in the first half, but they had to settle for a tie at the break. About to go for it on fourth-and-inches on the opening drive following a timeout to strategize Minnesota Vikings Jerseys 2019 , they were penalized for 12 men on the field and had to punt.Diggs collided with Thielen when Jaire Alexander crashed their pick play on the second possession, and after Diggs tried to circle back the other way with an ill-fated salvage attempt he lost 10 yards on that reception to lead to another punt.Bailey’s wide left 48-yard try wasted another highlight-reel catch by Thielen in between Alexander and Josh Jones that went for 33 yards. Later in the second quarter, after some mismanagement of the clock, the Vikings had to hustle to set up a 51-yard kick for Bailey. That one was good, but Rashod Hill was called for a false start. The 56-yarder sliced right, the fifth straight missed field goal against the Packers after rookie Daniel Carlson went 0 for 3 in Green Bay and was cut the next day.PACKED AND HAPPY HOUSEThe announced attendance of 66,872 was the largest for the Vikings in three years at U.S. Bank Stadium. A handful of Minnesota players were introduced in the first quarter with Paul Bunyan’s Axe, the trophy the Gophers repossessed from the rival Badgers in Wisconsin on Saturday to end a 14-game losing streak. Randy Moss kept the crowd fired up in a halftime ceremony to receive his Pro Football Hall of Fame ring.INJURY REPORTPackers: In addition to the carnage on offense, SS Kentrell Brice aggravated an ankle injury in the first quarter and was knocked out of action in the third quarter with a possible concussion. CB Kevin King and CB Bashaud Breeland were already inactive with injuries.Vikings: RT Brian O’Neill left in the third quarter for evaluation for a possible concussion. … CB Xavier Rhodes limped off with an apparent injury to his right hamstring in the fourth quarter.UP NEXTPackers: Host Arizona (2-9) next Sunday afternoon.Vikings: Play at New England (8-3) next Sunday afternooN.

Cheap Rashan Gary Jersey

On Friday Cheap Rashan Gary Jersey , Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson told Jimmy Fallon that there’s “a great potential” for Wilson to eventually become the highest-paid player in NFL history. So when precisely would that Wilson eclipse Aaron Rodgers‘ $33.5 million per year? Here’s what Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told at the Scouting Combine on the question of when contract talks will commence with Wilson, whose current deal expires at the end of the 2019 season: “That effort’s ongoing, now, you know? We have a tremendous relationship with Russ and he’s been an incredible part of our club and like I said, the community Youth Rashan Gary Jersey , all aspects of the league, all aspects of sports around the country, he’s an extraordinary factor. And we like to celebrate the years that he’s had with us with continuing more years and putting it all together. So that’s ongoing.”So if it’s ongoing, when does it end? Last year, we explained that Wilson’s mindset at the time was to resist long-term offers and to let things play out on a year-by-year basis. If he were to pursue the Kirk Cousins model Darnell Savage Green Bay Packers Jersey , Wilson could force application of the franchise tag for a couple of years before forcing his way to the open market, in turn forcing the Seahawks to compete with others for his services moving forward. With a cap number of $25.286 million for 2019, Wilson’s franchise tag in 2020 would bump to $30.34 million. In 2021, the franchise tag for Wilson would become $36.41 million. Come 2022, the rule guaranteeing a 44-percent increase would push the cap number all the way to $52.43 million.Would the Seahawks pay him $52.43 million for another season Kevin King Jersey , or would they let him hit the market? (The other option would be the transition tag, at $43.69 million for 2022, but that would guarantee only a right to match.)The bigger question is whether the Seahawks would put enough on the table to get Wilson to forgo the Cousins approach, and ultimately whether the guy who has a habit of ending every press conference and interview by saying “go ‘Hawks” would tell the ‘Hawks goodbye. It was an aggressive move to move up nine picks to take the Maryland safety. How he performs ultimately could determine how good this draft class is."While there are numerous articles all over the internet right out dishing out letter grades for each team’s performance in the 2019 NFL Draft, the truth of the matter is we won’t know the actual results for a couple years. That being said Darnell Savage Jersey 2019 , we can prognosticate on moves teams made that raised some eyebrows and the Green Bay Packers were indeed one of them. Many will think that move might be the selection of Rashan Gary at 12th overall, but perhaps an ever bigger question mark would be the team trading up from 30th to 21st overall to select Darnell Savage, a safety from Maryland. While Savage is a fine athlete, may had him projected as a second day draft pick. Gary had his injury concerns but he flashed enough skill to warrant at least some to grade him a first round pick. So at this very early stage, history ultimately could look back at the Savage pick and then render its verdict on the 2019 Packers draft class.Savage should have no trouble elevating the play of his position on the roster given their pathetic performance at safety in 2019 Color Rush Darnell Savage Jersey , but ultimately it will be his selection that could likely determine how good or bad the 2019 draft was for Green Bay.No pressure, kid. Now onto today’s curds.Speedy Darnell Savage key to success of Packers’ draft—PackersNews.comSavage has the tools and the talent. It’s up to defensive coordinator Mike Pettine and staff to maximize it all.Packers’ defense has changed the most—Packers.comThe draft once again leaned heavily towards the defense and while it might sound harsh to say the excuses are gone for Pettine, they kind of are. There has been an influx of athleticism the last two seasons and now it’s time to do something with it.Packers produce third-most athletic class in 2019 draft—Packers WireThere is obviously more to playing football than being athletic but you can’t say that Brian Gutekunst didn’t draft some gifted athletes in his two drafts at the helm.South Alabama’s Jamarius Way invited to Green Bay Packers’ rookie minicamp—AL.comGreen Bay did not draft a wide receiver, which was a surprise to some. They instead are going the undrafted free agent route and Jamarius Way is one that will be trying out. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Frank Gore isn’t scared of anything. Not the next hit he’ll take. Not how many yards he’ll gain. And especially not questions about his age.Whatever fears the 36-year-old Buffalo Bills running back once had evaporated during his college days at Miami where his pro football career was in jeopardy of being over before it even began after Gore tore ligaments in both knees over a two-year span.“Fear? As long as I’m healthy I’m good,” Gore said.“Just knowing it could be taken away from me, that’s why I try to go hard every time,” he added. “What I’ve been through, I know it’s not guaranteed. So why not? I feel if God blessed me to do this, why not go have fun? Why not go 110 (percent)?”And don’t ever suggest luck has had anything to do with it.“I’ve been through a lot. To get here wasn’t easy for me. I’ve been through ups and downs. I had to learn how to walk again, run, get my mind strong LeSean McCoy Jerseys Stitched ,” Gore said. “I can’t say luck. I’m blessed. It’s the man above.”Though Gore is known for putting himself through a grueling offseason workout regimen, someone has certainly been looking out for him over a career which stands as a model of consistency and durability. And he’s showing no signs of dipping five games into his 15th season, and first with the Bills.Since the San Francisco 49ers selected him in the third round of the 2005 draft, Gore has missed just 14 games because of injury — and only two since 2011.In the meantime, Gore has eclipsed his contemporaries — including college teammates Clinton Portis and Willis McGahee, as well as former Bills teammate LeSean McCoy — to enter an elite echelon. Two weeks ago, he became the fourth player to surpass 15,000 yards rushing with a 109-yard performance in a 16-10 loss to New England. When Buffalo (4-1) returns from its bye week off to host Miami on Oct. 20, Gore will be 79 yards away from becoming the ninth player to reach 19,000all-purpose yards.Age hasn’t been an issue. According to Pro Football Reference, Gore’s 6 Youth Kyle Williams Jerseys ,242 yards rushing after turning 30 lead all players.Gore has finished each of his 14 seasons leading his teams in yards rushing, including a three-year stint in Indianapolis and last season in Miami. And he’s currently leading Buffalo with 333 yards rushing on 75 carries. The numbers are so mind-boggling, Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas couldn’t think of a better way of expressing his respect than by saying: “Frank freaking Gore.”“That’s crazy, crazy numbers,” said the former Bills star. “I don’t think he gets the respect that he deserves throughout the National Football League. People need to take notice and really understand his career and understand that this guy has been a great player throughout.”Thomas isn’t making comparisons in noting that unlike Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton, Gore having played on some forgettable teams. Gore has reached the playoffs only three times, all during the 49ers’ three-year run ending with the Super Bowl loss to Baltimore in the 2012 season. What led Thomas to take notice is when noting Gore joined Smith as being the only two running backs to have started 200 games.“Phew, I don’t know, can he play two more years?” Thomas said. “Probably so.”Gore doesn’t have an expiration date in mind. He reassesses his future each offseason in determining whether he still believes he can produce and, just as important, whether a team is interested in signing him.Gore acknowledged a sense of relief when the Bills contacted him once the free-agency period opened in March. He was so excited upon signing a one-year contract Kyle Williams Jerseys Stitched , Gore spent part of the day parading around the team’s facility wearing a Bills helmet.“A lot of teams are scared to deal with guys my age, at my position,” he said. “They say, a running back shouldn’t be playing past 30. Can’t do it.”Gore’s proving to be an exception, even if it means putting up with a few old-man jokes.Teammates rib Gore by noting they were in middle school when toggling him while playing Madden NFL.Upon suggesting a reporter watch tape of his running style in college, Gore broke into a hearty laugh when jokingly asked if they used film back then. And Gore smiled, when noting the only thing that makes him feel old is being reunited with former college and 49ers teammate Ken Dorsey, who now serves as the Bills quarterbacks coach.Dorsey isn’t surprised by Gore’s accomplishments. He recalled how driven Gore was to stand out among his peers at Miami before and especially after his knee injuries.“Obviously, when you’re young, you’re not saying, ‘OK Youth Doug Flutie Jerseys , this guy’s going to be a top-four leading rusher’ at the time. But now, looking back it makes sense,” Dorsey said. “He’s always wanted to be on the football field. He’s always wanted to play and compete. That’s just who he is.”Gore chalks it up to one simple reason: his love of football. It’s a passion he developed as a youngster playing tackle football with his friends in the backyards, streets and playgrounds in Coral Gables, Florida. He took pride in knowing how difficult it was to bring him down. It’s the same desire that got him through his injuries, and what keeps him coming back each spring.“I don’t think about no age,” Gore said. “As long as you love it, and continue to think young, you can do it, right?”

Murray-USA TODAY SportsSummer school rolls on here at Big Blue View, as we do our best to shine light on various aspects of the game we all love and obsess over. Continuing our look at evaluating the quarterback position, we move from processing speed to arm talent. Throughout the entire draft process there might be no more nebulous term than “arm talent?” Every quarterback profile uses that phrase in one way or another, but what exactly goes into that trait and how does one identify it in a prospect? The first thing that comes to mind when talking about a quarterback’s pure ability to throw the football is arm strength. Certainly the YouTube/highlight era we live in makes this easy, with the ability call up in a matter of seconds some impressive throws from quarterback throughout the college and pro game. But football graveyards are littered with tombstones highlighting quarterbacks who could dial up the velocity on throws...but little else. So there is more to arm talent than velocity alone. When evaluating quarterbacks and their arm talent, pure velocity is but one component. You also need to study other aspects to passing such as touch, feel, placement and trajectory. A simple way to frame the question is this: How well can the player move the football from Point A to Point B given the situation in front of him? Not every problem is an nail and not every arm is a hammer. The quarterback needs to balance the situation and demonstrate that he can make the right throw in the moment.Last draft cycle, Kyler Murray from Oklahoma was a prime example of arm talent. Consider this quick clip that combines some of the elements necessary: Velocity, touch, feel Deandre Baker Buffalo Bills Jersey , placement, and you see it to all levels of the field. These throws are prime examples of what Murray can do with his arm:You were probably expecting his long touchdown pass against Alabama in the playoffs. Fear not gentle reader, we will get to that play. But on these two plays Murray flashes impressive arm talent. On the first play he works through multiple reads before throwing a seam route into the end zone, which he delivers with a perfect mix of velocity and placement, dropping the throw in over the defender but before the back line of the end zone. On the second, Murray uncorks a deep ball that covers 40+ yards on the fly, but drops it in while rolling to the right and places it perfectly along the right sideline. Touch and trajectory are also big components of arm talent. Returning to the “Point A to Point B” framing of the issue, there are instances when the ability to throw a football through a brick wall is not the right answer to a question. If the brick wall in instance is a talented safety, trying to throw the football through him just leads to an interception. Instead, the quarterback’s ability to apply touch and understand trajectory is tested. Murray was again a standout in this area, and his understanding of touch and feel is impressive, and on display on throws like this:The corner route is among the toughest to throw in football because a quarterback you face in essence three defenders, as Murray does here: The cornerback, the safety and the boundary. You need to show precision with the throw to get it over the CB, outside of the S, but drop it in so the receiver can complete the play before falling out of bounds. Murray’s precision and touch here against Iowa State is perfect. Here is another example of a quarterback balancing touch Infant Daniel Jones Jersey , velocity and trajectory, and it comes from Brett Rypien from Boise State. Look at this throw on an intermediate seam route against Troy:Rypien’s throw here is perfect. He appropriately balances touch with velocity, dropping this in over the trailing defender but well before any other defensive back could make a break on the route. Now we can turn to the velocity question. One of the standard benchmarks for evaluating arm strength is the “deep out pattern.” Typically, NFL scouts want to see if the quarterback in question can drive the football into the receiver on a deep out route, at about a depth of 20 yards. This throw of Rypien’s checks that box in my opinion:In their game against UConn the Broncos face a third-and-13 just inside Huskies territory, on the 46-yard line. Rypien takes the shotgun snap and uses a crisp three-step drop, hitches and uncorks the deep out route from the left hashmark to the right sideline. He lets this pass go from the Boise State 47-yard line, and drives it down to the UConn 25-yard line where he hits his receiver perfectly just before he steps out of bounds. This throw comes on a near-line, with great velocity and spin to it, covering at least 28 yards, but Pythagoras tells us this throw covers a greater distance. The question to balance on the velocity issue is how much it matters. I have often viewed velocity as more a pure threshold question. Can the player get enough velocity on throws to survive life in the NFL, or not? Anything over and above that gets into an area of diminishing returns. After all, when most NFL offenses operate within 20 yards of the line of scrimmage, having a pure cannon for an arm might impact such a small percentage of plays, that it should not be used to justify reaching for a player early in the draft when other traits are not commensurate with the player’s arm strength. There is also the matter of velocity being a double-edged sword. If a quarterback has been able to rely on pure arm strength to survive throughout his college years and during his development as a passer, it can serve as a crutch of sorts Daniel Jones Jersey Draft , and even hamstring his development in other areas such as processing speed. Josh Allen (and more recently Drew Lock) are examples of this. This quick video breaks this down when it comes to Lock:In the end, the velocity component might be a matter of weight. It is a necessary box to check, but one should not place too much emphasis on the pure RPMs a QB can dial up. Velocity is just one factor but the ultimate issue is how the QB gets the ball from Point A to Point B, and do not forget the other components to that puzzle. Emphasis on not yet.The potential deadline for Ezekiel Elliott to report to Cowboys camp and end his holdout was believed by some to be Aug. 6. But that is not the case, Blogging the Boys’ RJ Ochoa informs us. But Jerry Jones is ensuring the holdout remains interesting. The Cowboys owner’s musings on Elliott have raised some eyebrows in Texas. Even if his comments Sunday were technically about Alfred Morris.Let me repeat that: Morris “has the best feel of any back I’ve ever seen.” And Jones has seen Emmitt Smith... and Elliott... AND Morris, who played for the Cowboys in 2016 and 2017 — who started a total of five games for them — before they decided to move on BECAUSE THEY HAVE ELLIOTT. (And yes, we realize Jones claims to be quoting Brown, but c’mon.)As Ochoa rightfully explains, Jones is quite calculating when it comes to public message-sending. So his statement cannot be taken literally. It can’t even be taken about Morris. It is a warning to Elliott.Just how serious a warning is the question?Obviously, Jerry isn’t going to go so far as to permanently alienate Elliott, right? [Insert Jimmy Johnson joke here. Thank you.] Of course, Jerry is known for his colorful metaphors and enlightening dinner conversation. I mean Daniel Jones NFL Jersey , the man has publicly discussed “a crippled cricket’s ass” — whatever that is — his coach’s penchant for holding handfuls of Jell-O, and of course, glory holes. But Jerry is getting closer and closer to that uncomfortable line. And the ramifications of Elliott’s holdout extend well beyond just himself. Jones’ quarterback and star receiver are seeking their own paydays, although both reported to camp on time. You better believe Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper — and their agents — are paying close attention to how Elliott is treated. Neither may be as good as Elliott, who is arguably the best back in football. But Prescott is the quarterback. And no one can dispute the difference in the Cowboys after they acquired Cooper last fall.Back to that supposed day of reckoning. The reason today’s deadline seemed important was players who don’t report to training camp by Aug. 6 lose an accrued season toward free agency. And since they need four seasons to qualify for unrestricted free agency, well, the deadline looms rather huge for some. Players with only three accrued seasons are merely restricted free agents, subject to tenders — and therefore subject to their teams choosing to match those RFA tenders if they desire. But Dallas had an option to add a fifth year to the end of Elliott’s rookie deal as he is a former first-round draft pick. And to nobody’s surprise, the Cowboys exercised that option, extending Elliott’s contract through the 2020 season. The running back can earn that fourth year then. So today likely will be just another day in an increasingly intriguing holdout. So the saga continues. Reports say the two sides are talking, but rather far apart. Could a Le’Veon Bell situation be in the offing? Here are some of the other big stories around the NFC East since the start of training camp:Dallas CowboysWhile the rest of Dallas is wrapped up in All Things Zeke, the injury bug has begun to bite in Big D.LB Sean Lee suffered a sprained MCL last week. There is no clear timetable for his return.Despite the emotional ties the franchise has with the Pro Bowl middle linebacker, Lee is no longer a vital player on its defense with Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith around. However, he does remain a starter on their projected depth chart. But Zack Martin is a vital player on their offensive line, and an MRI revealed that the right guard has irritation in a disk in his spine. While his return to practice may come in a week or so, we all know how tricky bad backs can be Daniel Jones NFL Draft , especially for those on the line. And three-time All-Pros are awfully difficult to replace. And Cooper injured his heel, although word is it’s a minor issue.Philadelphia EaglesDon’t get angry, but ESPN says the Iggles have the second-best roster in the NFL behind only the New Orleans Saints. (That sound you hear is Bill Belichick chuckling. He may not laugh, but he does chuckle.)Of course, the margin for error is quite small now that a certain Super Bowl hero resides in Jacksonville. Speaking of margin of error, there is little of it at linebacker now that Kamu Grugier-Hill suffered an MCL sprain and will be out for quite a while. But DeSean Jackson got a hero’s welcome in his return to the Linc. (Isn’t that nice?)And Miles Sanders is breeding hope at running back, Bleeding Green Nation’s Brandon Lee Gowton says. I guess there’s room in the division for two Penn State running backs. Washington RedskinsCoach Jay Gruden’s first 2019 depth chart began with Colt McCoy and Case Keenum as his quarterbacks, his first-round-pick on the scout team (Dwayne Haskins), his left tackle engaged in some kind of bitter holdout — whether it’s over money or the Skins’ medical staff (Trent Williams) — and the latest saga in Adrian Peterson’s life.So 7-9 yet again won’t cut it. But as every New York Giants fan knows, if Ereck Flowers is indeed penciled in as their starting left guard, well, 7-9 would be quite an accomplishment.

It looks like Miami has found a new quarterback."

One of the biggest stories to come out of the NFL draft’s first round yesterday was the quarterback situation in Arizona: after the Cardinals made Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray the first overall pick Womens Hjalte Froholdt Jersey , the team was left with two passers selected in the top ten in back-to-back years. Something had to give when it came to Murray and second-year man Josh Rosen but nothing materialized yesterday. Today, things look quite different.According to a report by Pro Football Talk, the Cardinals are closing in on a deal that would send Rosen to the AFC East: the Miami Dolphins would send a second-round pick — the 48th overall selection — to Arizona in exchange for the 10th overall choice in last year’s draft. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo added that one or multiple late-round selections might ultimately also become part of the trade.Regardless of the details, it sure looks as if Rosen will join the Dolphins and become the third of four quarterbacks picked in last year’s top ten to end up in the New England Patriots’ division: the New York Jets drafted Sam Darnold with the third pick, and the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen with the seventh. The Cardinals then went after Rosen at #10 but are apparently close to also sending him to the AFC East.Needless to say that the investment is a big one for the Dolphins and neo head coach Brian Flores: he now has his quarterback, while the passer landscape in the division has gotten younger — all while 41-year old Tom Brady still reigns supreme.[UPDATE] According to multiple media reports, the Dolphins have traded the 62nd overall draft pick for Rosen. Andrew Whitworth had an interesting take on the Rams’ loss in Super Bowl LIII. The Rams left tackle either said, “At the end of the day Authentic Hjalte Froholdt Jersey , we’re all going to die,” or “At the end of the day, you’re all going to die.” Either way, let’s hope we’re all still alive at the end of the day.It brought back memories of the criticism Tony Romo took after a 2008 win-or-go-home game when, after a 44-6 loss to the Eagles, the then-Cowboys quarterback said, “If this is the worst thing that will ever happen to me, then I’ve lived a pretty good life.”Whitworth Hjalte Froholdt Jersey Boys , like Romo, has never experienced much postseason success. Whitworth, who spent 11 seasons in Cincinnati, had never won a postseason game until this season.“I’m disappointed, but man, you know what, I’ve played 13 years, played almost 13 Infant Hjalte Froholdt Jersey ,000 snaps of NFL football,” Whitworth said, via NFL Media. “Man, I love the game. I love every bit of it. You’re not going to get me to pout and feel sorry for myself. I realize what this game means. I cherish the crap out of it. And I don’t give a crap if you have a Hall of Fame bust, if you’re a Pro Bowler or win 20 Super Bowls, at the end of the day, we’re all going to die.“For me, what means the most is guys see me hold my head high Hjalte Froholdt Jersey Draft , they see me confident in them and loving them. And there for them in any way I can.” Whitworth, 37, still is pondering whether he will return for the final year of his contract or retire.

When Adam Gase agreed to become the new Jets

head coach in January Juston Burris Jerseys 2019 , he cited the presence of quarterback Sam Darnold as one of the biggest reasons why he wanted the job. That feeling has not diminished over the first months of their working relationship. Gase said he thinks Darnold is throwing the ball with more velocity than he did last season and that the quarterback’s overall skill set is making it easy for him to do his job.“I think what it’s allowed me to do is, it’s easy for me to call plays,” Gase said at a Monday press conference. “You don’t worry about, if you have a negative play you’re ready to call the next one. He’s not the kind of quarterback you’re looking to protect. You’re kind of looking at it in terms of, let him work the offense and get on the ball and use the running game to help him. There’s no limitations on him and it’s fun as a play caller.”Gase didn’t say whether he will be calling plays for Darnold against the Giants on Thursday night White Jermaine Kearse Jerseys , but it’s clear he’s looking forward to getting that part of the program up and running. When Jets CEO and chairman Christopher Johnson remained publicly silent amid rampant reports of a potential General Manager change, it should have been obvious that a change could still happen. And now it has, officially.“This morning, I informed Mike [Maccagnan] that he was being relieved of his duties as General Manager of the team, effective immediately Jermaine Kearse Jerseys 2019 ,” Johnson said in a statement issued not long after the report of the change emerged. “Mike helped to execute the strategic vision of the organization during the last four seasons and especially the past few months. However, I came to the decision to make a change after much thought and careful assessment of what would be in the best long-term interests of the New York Jets. I will start a search for our new General Manager immediately. In the interim, Coach Gase will be the acting General Manager. I would like to thank Mike for his time and effort during his tenure, and I wish only the best for him and his wife Betty.”It’s possible that the move would have happened immediately after the draft, and that the rumors and reports that the move was coming prompted Johnson to wait until those rumors and reports died down. Regardless White Brandon Shell Jerseys , Maccagnan is now out and, for now, coach Adam Gase runs the show.
