The Los Angeles Chargers believe running back Melvin Gordon

Even without Gordon White Kyle Emanuel Jerseys , the Chargers edged the Titans 20-19 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.Gordon, who entered the weekend third in the league with 466 rushing yards, was added to the injury report on Saturday. He was held out of practice a day earlier after the Chargers crossed the Atlantic for what coach Anthony Lynn said was a precautionary measure. The running back warmed up before the game, but Lynn decided that he wasn’t ready for a full workload against Tennessee and hopes to have him back when Los Angeles travels to face the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 4.“Obviously, we’re better with Melvin Gordon, but I just felt like I had to protect him today because I don’t want this to be a lingering thing,” Lynn said. “I want to get him back for Seattle and he’s got a bye week off. He’ll be rehabbing and getting healthy, and hopefully, we’ll have a full-speed Melvin back in a couple weeks.”The Chargers handed a first career start to second-year running back Austin Ekeler, who finished with 42 yards on 12 carries and also caught five passes for 26 yards.Gordon ran for 132 yards and three touchdowns in the road win against the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 14 and had surpassed 100 rushing yards in two of his last three games.Behind Gordon, Los Angeles had the league’s fifth-ranked rushing offense at 137.3 yards per game but was held to just 47 yards on the ground by Tennessee’s 26th-ranked run defense.“Frustrated,” Gordon said after the win. “I’ll be back next game.”Here’s what else we learned in the Chargers’ victory:PLAYING TO WINTitans coach Mike Vrabel said he will continue to coach aggressively after the go-ahead 2-point conversion failed with 31 seconds remaining.Vrabel has made several aggressive play calls since being hired as the Titans’ coach before this season and acknowledged that the decision to go for it was inspired in part by the team’s two-game losing streak.“I’m just trying to do what’s best for the team,” Vrabel said. “I’m trying to find a way to win a football game and haven’t done a very good job the last three weeks.”The Titans only allowed quarterback Marcus Mariota to be sacked twice after he was dropped 11 times in the 21-0 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the previous game, and Derrick Henry scored Tennessee’s first touchdown since the closing minutes of the road loss to the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 7.“Getting in the end zone was a huge step forward for us Kyle Emanuel Jerseys 2019 , but obviously, it’s all for nothing if you don’t win the game,” left tackle Taylor Lewan said.EYES ON THE PRIZEQuarterback Philip Rivers said that the victory, which moved the Chargers to 5-2 this season, will galvanize the team as it prepares to chase down the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West. The Chargers have reached the playoffs just once in the last eight seasons and narrowly missed out last year after finishing 9-7.“Everybody enjoys winning, but (this team enjoys) winning together,” Rivers said. “It’s as excited as I’ve seen a locker room postgame in a while — just the energy. It’s hard to win in this league.”SHARPER IMAGETitans wide receiver Tajae Sharpe could return from the bye week with a greater role in the offense after catching seven passes for a career-high 101 yards, including five for 75 yards on third down, on Sunday.“The more you perform and you make players, the more opportunities come your way,” Vrabel said. “Being able to convert third downs in this league is critical, and so Tajae has been a great asset for us to convert those.”Sharpe, in his third year out of UMass, missed all of last season with a foot injury. He had not caught seven passes in a game since his debut on Sept. 11 White Drew Kaser Jerseys , 2016, when he had 76 yards in a 25-16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He allowed 41 hurries, 12 hits and eight sacks across his 483 pass-blocking snaps, good for a mark of 92.9. Only Oakland Raiders’ Kolton Miller (93.1) and Houston Texans’ Julie’n Davenport (93.2) came close to matching his disastrous performance in pass protection.Social Media Information:BFTB Facebook Page: Click here to like our pageBFTB Twitter: Follow @BFTB_ChargersThe Lightning Round Twitter: Follow @Lightning_RoundThe Lightning Round Facebook: Click here to like our pageBFTB Manager: Richard Wade: Follow @RichardWade

Former Philadelphia Eagles interior offensive lineman

Go get Philly that comp pick Black Dallas Goedert Jerseys , Wis." Stefen Wisniewski is drawing some interest in NFL free agency. Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the Minnesota Vikings reached out to Wis last week. Tomasson also notes Wis is scheduled to visit the New York Jets today on Monday. In case you missed it in last week’s madness, Wis is a free agent because the Eagles declined his 2019 option worth $3.7 million. Philadelphia clearly felt he was making too much money for a backup guard/center.Wis can potentially help the Eagles one last time by signing a nice contract with another team. His new deal will likely count towards Philadelphia’s compensatory pick formula as it relates to the 2020 NFL Draft. Especially considering it seems like there’s some competition for his services. The Eagles will play both the Vikings and the Jets in 2019 so it’s possible Wis will be facing off against his old squad this season. He’d be more rootable on the Jets than the Vikings, so here’s hoping they’re the ones who offer him the biggest contract. When the New York Jets run the ball Sunday, it will be a test of their blocking against the Miami Dolphins' tackling to see who's worse. Both have been bad lately.Miami (4-4) has given up 600 yards rushing in the past three games. A defensive decline, not an injury to quarterback Ryan Tannehill , is the biggest reason the Dolphins have lost four of their past five games."We've got to be better," safety Reshad Jones said. "But there's no time to hit the panic button right now. We've got a lot of football left."The Jets (3-5) have averaged 2.8 yards per carry in the past three games while totaling 235 yards. After running back Bilal Powell suffered a season-ending neck injury in Week 7, the ground game generated just 57 yards in last week's loss at the Chicago Bears."I didn't think it was good at all," coach Todd Bowles said. "They beat us up front, and they beat us to the punch."So it looks like an even matchup: the resistible force against the moveable object. Here are things to know about the 106th meeting between two AFC East rivals sporting two-game losing streaks:TURF WARThe Dolphins are tied for 29th in the NFL in run defense. In the past three weeks Dallas Goedert Jerseys 2019 , they've allowed 164, 248 and 188 yards on the ground, with big plays the biggest problem."There is no secret. There is no magic pill," five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Wake said. "Each player has a gap or a man or a zone. You can do it right for 42 plays, and then on play 43 you're not there, and in this league they'll find that hole. They'll find that guy who's not doing their thing that they're supposed to be doing. And 80 yards later ..."The Jets' recent rushing woes come after they gashed Denver in Week 5 for 323 yards, second-most in franchise history. Isaiah Crowell had a team-record 219 in that game, but in the past three weeks he has totaled just 94 yards in 37 carries. The sputtering ground attack only increases the burden on rookie quarterback Sam Darnold ."We can't be up and down," Bowles said. "We've got to be consistent at it. If we want to throw the ball consistently, we've got to be able to run it consistently."SUBSTITUTETannehill will miss his fourth game in a row because of an injury to his throwing shoulder. Replacement Brock Osweiler has a slightly better passer rating than Tannehill Black Jerome Brown Jerseys , with six touchdown throws and three interceptions in three games.Osweiler passed for 241 yards in last week's 42-23 loss at Houston and said he's trying to play so well he doesn't go back to the bench."I had a laundry list of things after the Houston game that I want to clean up," he said. "It was really about one page of notes. We have a great coaching staff, and they took that page of notes and turned that into drills 鈥?things I didn't do right in the game 鈥?in hopes that we can correct those mistakes and make sure that they never happen again."CATCH, IF YOU CANThe Jets could be shorthanded again at receiver as Robby Anderson and Quincy Enunwa, Darnold's top targets, are dealing with ankle injuries.Anderson missed the game at Chicago, and Enunwa has been sidelined the past two games. Without both, New York struggled to get the passing game going against the Bears. Rookie Deontay Burnett, a former teammate of Darnold's at USC, led the Jets with four catches for 61 yards."You hate to see Robby go down and Q go down Jerome Brown Jerseys 2019 , but that means someone's got to step up," Darnold said. "It was cool for him to be able to step up the way that he did."FINDING THE END ZONERookie tight end Chris Herndon is making catching touchdown passes a weekly thing. The fourth-round draft pick out of the University of Miami has scored in each of the past three games, joining receiver Keyshawn Johnson (1996) and tight end Thurlow Cooper (1960) as the only rookies in franchise history to accomplish the feat.Herndon is also tied with Philadelphia's Dallas Goedert for the most touchdowns among rookie NFL tight ends with three.DEJA VUThe Jets are in a familiar spot at the halfway point, sitting at 3-5 after eight games for the third consecutive year. They're hoping to finish better than they have the last two years, when they ended up 5-11.AP Sports Writer Dennis Waszak in Florham Park, New Jersey, contributed to this report.Follow Steven Wine on Twitter: ://Steve_Wine

It didn’t come as much of a surprise and everyone just kind of accepted the report because it made the most sense. The Jaguars think they’re in “win now” mode and have a good team that was just decimated by injuries and saddled with a bad quarterback in 2018, so signing someone like Foles who is at worst an average quarterback, will push them forward. Those reports might have been a bit premature and could just have been dot connecting based on the slow market that appears to be out there for Foles, according to Mike Jones of USA Today.I mentioned when the reports surfaced that it seemed really early for reports of a done-deal coming out at the NFL Combine, even though that’s usually when the free agency rumors start to pick up and really take steam. It appeared the Jaguars were the only actual team interested in bringing Foles in, however according to Jones the likes of the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants and even Washington are interested in bringing Foles in. After repeatedly failing to find a franchise quarterback in the NFL draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars turned to free agency.Maybe the new path will yield better results.Given the lack of sustained success between predecessors Byron Leftwich, David Garrard, Blaine Gabbert and Blake Bortles Youth Will Richardson Jerseys , the bar is set pretty low for Nick Foles 鈥?even with a lucrative contract and a Super Bowl MVP trophy. The Jaguars officially agreed to terms with Foles on Wednesday , the official start of free agency and two days after the sides settled on contract terms. They released Bortles four hours later, parting ways with the third overall pick in the 2014 draft just 13 months after handing him a three-year, $58 million contract.Bortles was arguably the most ridiculed quarterback in the league in recent years. A number of players ripped him publicly, including Tennessee defensive end Jurrell Casey, Houston defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, Seattle safety Earl Thomas and Cincinnati linebacker Vontaze Burfict.More Jacksonville Jaguars newsJaguars get help for Nick Foles with signings of WR Chris Conley, RT Cedric OgbuehiIt’s official: Jaguars agree to terms with Super Bowl MVP QB Nick FolesJaguars, guard A.J. One of the main characters, Jason Mendoza, is an amateur disc jockey from Jacksonville and a huge Jaguars fan. Mendoza is portrayed as a nitwit, who loves Bortles.Jacksonville will save $4.5 million against the salary cap by cutting Bortles. He still will count $16.5 million against the cap in 2019.The extra cash will essentially go to Foles.A person with knowledge of the deal said it’s worth $88 million over four years and includes $50.125 million guaranteed. It could increase to $102 million with incentives, the source said. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because neither side chose to disclose financial terms.Foles will be formally introduced at a news conference Thursday. The 30-year-old Foles went 6-2 in the regular season and 4-1 in the postseason in place of Philadelphia starter Carson Wentz the last two years. He earned 2018 Super Bowl MVP honors and became the league’s premier quarterback commodity on the market. Philadelphia opted not to use the franchise tag on Foles. He landed in Jacksonville, which had been the front-runner to get him for weeks.Bortles went 24-49 as a starter, throwing for 17,646 yards, with 103 touchdowns and 75 interceptions. He played turnover-free football in the 2017 postseason Youth Cody Kessler Jerseys , helping the team reach the AFC championship game and showing enough growth that top executive Tom Coughlin and general manager Dave Caldwell opted to sign Bortles to a new contract. The deal included $26.5 million guaranteed and left the Jaguars with little to spend in free agency. They released five veterans last week, including former Pro Bowl defenders Malik Jackson and Tashaun Gipson, to clear $30 million in salary cap space. A significant chunk of that cash will go to Foles. The Jaguars also re-signed guard A.J. Cann on Wednesday to a three-year, $15 million contract, preventing him from entering free agency.A third-round draft pick from South Carolina in 2015, Cann started 59 of 64 games over four seasons for the Jaguars. He should help provide some continuity and stability up front for Foles.Jacksonville will return four O-line starters 鈥?Cann, left tackle Cam Robinson, guard Andrew Norwell and center Brandon Linder 鈥?as well as running back Leonard Fournette. The question now is whether Coughlin and Caldwell have enough talent around Foles to make a difference.Veteran Marqise Lee will return after missing all of last season with a knee injury, and fellow receiver Dede Westbrook showed some promise in his second year. But second-round draft pick DJ Chark and second-year pro Keelan Cole mostly struggled, and the Jags have few Cody Kessler Jerseys Stitched , if any, viable threats at tight end after deciding not to pick up a team option on Austin Seferian-Jenkins.Nonetheless, Foles should be an upgrade over Bortles. The Jaguars spent a combined $95 million on Leftwich (2003-07), Garrard (2002-10), Gabbert (2011-13) and Bortles (2014-18), and never saw much of a return on those investments at the NFL’s most important position.

Bears’ fans Brian Urlacher Jerseys 2019 , this is an open thread!" from Tyler Dunne in the Bleacher Report about the dysfunction between Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and their former head coach Mike McCarthy. If not, go read it right now. I’m serious. I’ll wait.Good?Okay...Here’s the Cliff-Notes version in case you didn’t take my advice to read that article. Rodgers is a sensitive baby and a bit of an asshole, and McCarthy is a doofus that gets massages during team meetings. Who knows where the truth lies when a tell-all piece like this comes out, because not every person in a locker room will like everyone. SB Nation’s Stephen White, a former NFL player, wrote about this very thing in 2014. What you, as the reader, chooses to believe is up to you, but speaking from a Chicago Bears’ fan perspective, I tend to believe most of, if not all of it. And yes White Dick Butkus Jerseys , I’m sure the enjoyment I took from the read is guiding my judgement. Meanwhile Packer fans and Packer media-fanboys, who already have their guard up after watching their team stumble through consecutive losing seasons for the first time in 27 years, have been in full spin mode since the story broke. The rift between Rodgers and McCarthy started before Rodgers was even drafted by the Packers and when McCarthy was still the offensive coordinator of the 49ers. McCarthy thought Alex Smith was the best QB of the 2005 draft class and his ‘Niners took Smith number one overall, while Rodgers slipped all the way to the Pack with the 24th pick. That’s a Hell of a grudge.A grudge that was cancerous in the locker room and a cancer that Rodgers had no intention of ever healing. McCarthy was fired last year and is currently not coaching, while Rodgers, at 35-years old, will try to get the Packers back on track under new head coach Matt LaFleur who is just four years older than his disgruntled quarterback. And don’t think that just because McCarthy is out, that Rodgers will all of the sudden be a locker room saint. Rodgers wasn’t consulted before LeFleur was hired, in fact, it was mandated that he needed to simply accept the hire. In the article Rodgers is described as “self-entitled,” a “bad leader,” “arrogant Dick Butkus Jerseys 2019 ,” “not as smart as he thinks he is,” “passive-aggressive to the extreme,” and “real sensitive.”He has iced out younger teammates if they don’t do what he says or if they make mistakes. He selfishly was more concerned about his own stats and audibled out of running plays all the time. He undermined his former head coach and he’s never held accountable. Will a 39-year old, first-time head coach have the stroke to hold a future Hall of Famer accountable? We’ll have to wait and see. This is an open thread, but still make sure you follow our community guidelines. I’ve seen a few other articles pop up about the drama in Green Bay and they’ve all been fun to read, so be sure to not only read the one spotlighted above, but search out all the others too. Coach Matt Nagy insisted Jordan Howard remains a big part of Chicago's offense and the star running back was adamant he wasn't frustrated despite a limited role in the most recent victory."This is not going to be an offense where it's just one person and it goes through one person," Nagy said Monday. "I don't necessarily believe in that. It's great when you have everybody fulfilling different roles and it's hard for the defense when you do that."The Bears (3-1) own sole possession of the NFC North lead for the first time since late in the 2013 season, with three straight wins. Coming off a bye, they hope to keep rolling when they visit Miami on Sunday.Chicago matched its longest win streak since a 3-0 start in 2013 with a 48-10 romp over Tampa Bay two weeks ago. Mitchell Trubisky broke out with six touchdown passes 鈥?one shy of the NFL record. Tarik Cohen added a career-high 121 yards receiving to go with 53 rushing, and the Bears came away with their most lopsided victory in six years. As good as that sounds for Chicago, something else stood out: Howard's small role.He carried 11 times for 25 yards and was in on 33 of 61 plays. Howard didn't talk to reporters after that game White Mike Singletary Jerseys , and players were not available to the media until Monday."No, I wasn't frustrated," Howard said. "I was happy. We won. You see how much we won by. So there's not really nothing to complain about."With more than 2,600 yards rushing since the Bears took him in the fifth round in 2016, Howard has been one of general manager Ryan Pace's most successful draft picks. He ran for 1,122 yards last season after finishing second in the NFL with 1,313 as a rookie. But there were also questions how he would fit in Nagy's system after struggling in the passing game his first two seasons. Howard's name came up in offseason trade rumors, and Bears-related photos disappeared from his Instagram account at one point, though he insisted there was nothing to it and wouldn't acknowledge removing the pictures.Howard has shown improvement catching the ball but hasn't found a rhythm running it. With 203 yards on 64 attempts, he is averaging 3.2 per attempt. That's well below his career average of 4.5 yards.Howard has run the ball 15 times or less in three of the four games and hasn't rushed for more than 82 yards this season."Jordan understands what we're trying to do as a team," Nagy said. "And he also understands, and we've talked Mike Singletary Jerseys 2019 , that he has a major part of this offense. He has a big-time role. But if it's an advantage to us to go a different direction for that game or for that play or that series, we're going to do that."It's hard to argue with what the Bears did against Tampa Bay. They saw an opening against a banged-up secondary and got huge games from Trubisky and Cohen, even if it meant a light day for Howard."The majority of the games, he gets more workload than I do," Cohen said. "He understands some games are different. We felt like their secondary was banged-up, so that's what happened, we're gonna attack them."That's something they probably couldn't have done last season. But the Bears brought in more play-making pass catchers and hired an offense-minded coach after firing John Fox.They have more options now and don't necessarily need to rely on the run as much."If we want to put him in the game and use him for a certain advantage, we'll do that and that could be first, second or third down," Nagy said. "There's other times where it doesn't fit that way. It just so happened this past game that ... Tarik got more plays in regards to getting the ball to him, and he was productive. But that has nothing to do with what Jordan Howard is doing.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — When the New Orleans Saints finally found their rhythm Stefen Wisniewski Jersey , they marched one step closer to the Super Bowl. that paid off, the Saints got two touchdown passes from Drew Brees and two interceptions from Marcus Lattimore in a 20-14 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.Brees took the Saints on scoring drives of 92, 79 and 67 yards after falling behind 14-0. Lattimore clinched it when Nick Foles‘ pass from the Saints 27 deflected off usually sure-handed receiver Alshon Jeffery with about two minutes remaining. A couple dozen Saints players surged off the sideline toward the end zone in celebration, while Jeffery fell face-first to the turf in agony. "We were real calm and poised and we knew we were going to get things done," Brees said.New Orleans (14-3) will host the NFC title game next week against the Rams (13-4). Los Angeles, which fell 45-35 at the Superdome in November, will try again next week, with the winner going to the Super Bowl. The Saints' win finished off a sweep of the divisional round by teams coming off byes.Wil Lutz added two field goals for the Saints, who last got this far in 2009, when they won the Super Bowl.Philadelphia (10-8) will not repeat as NFL champion; no team has done so since the 2004 Patriots."We were going down to win, but I just felt like we beat ourselves, honestly," Jeffery said. "Hats off to those guys."Eagles coach Doug Pederson thought his team was on its way on that final drive to pulling off another stunning comeback win"It just felt like the momentum at that point was in our favor," he said. "It's been that way all season, and we felt like that sort of magic was going to continue."This was really two games in one. Philly scored on its first two drives as the Saints could do virtually nothing right."Listen http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-carson-wentz-jersey , they got off to a fast start, they're a great team," Brees said. "Nick Foles has done a phenomenal job for them. We knew it was going to be different than last time."After that opening period, it was all New Orleans, yet the resilient Eagles kept it close enough that when Lutz missed a 52-yard field goal with 2:58 remaining, they were only one-score behind.Foles, the hero of last year's Super Bowl run, got them in position for yet another late winning score — just like last week at Chicago and last February against New England for the championship. Then, Jeffery couldn't handle a second-down pass, and it was over."That's a great championship team," Saints coach Sean Payton said of the Eagles. "We remained confident."Brees had 2-yard touchdown passes to rookie Keith Kirkwood and All-Pro wideout Michael Thomas, who had 12 receptions for a franchise playoff-record 171 yards.Thomas' touchdown capped an 18-play, 92-yard drive in which the Saints actually covered more than 100 yards because of penalties. It lasted 11½ minutes."What you saw from him today is what I see every day in practice," Brees said of Thomas. "He's a big-time player who wants to be the guy to make plays."Philadelphia had the ball for more than nine minutes in the first quarter, after which the Eagles had the ball about 13 minutes and never scored.New Orleans Womens Isaac Seumalo Jersey , which routed Philadelphia 48-7 in November, gambled on its first play — and lost. Brees was a bit short on a deep pass to Ted Ginn Jr., and it was picked off by Cre'Von LeBlanc, one of several Eagles backups being used in the secondary due to injuries during the regular season."I just think we had to find our rhythm," Brees said. "I tried to take a shot on the first play. Unfortunately, that didn't work."After the first quarter, though, a lot worked for New Orleans.Foles completed all five throws on a 76-yard drive capped by Jordan Matthews‘ 37-yard TD catch . The Eagles, who quickly fell behind 17-0 in that previous Superdome loss, suddenly led 7-0.Not long after, a 75-yard drive highlighted by a 30-yard pass to Jeffery ended with Foles' short leap over the goal line for a 14-0 edge.Indeed, the visitors were in control until Lattimore picked off Foles' deep throw to Zach Ertz. The Saints showed plenty of moxie on their 79-yard march to a touchdown, faking a punt at their 30, with Taysom Hill running 4 yards for a first down. They also went on fourth-and-goal from the 2, and Philadelphia's rapidly depleting defense surrendered Kirkwood's 2-yard touchdown."When you just get that in guys' minds that we're going to be aggressive Chuck Bednarik Jersey , that we're going to play to win, it allows guys to relax and to cut loose," Brees said. With Brees finding the range and his receivers finding loads of room to roam, New Orleans crept to 14-10 at halftime on Lutz's 45-yard field goal.UGLY STARTMaybe the Saints were rusty after their wild-card bye, but they got two first downs, including one by penalty, gained 17 yards, and Brees threw an interception and had a fumble that was recovered by teammate Ryan Ramczyk in the opening period. Meanwhile, Philly gained 153 yards and scored two TDs, and Foles went 8 of 9 for 113.But Foles was intercepted by Lattimore early in the second quarter, and the Saints finally got going.NUMBERSBrees, who turns 40 Tuesday, finished 28 for 38 despite the awful start, throwing for 301 yards. Aside from Thomas, who was targeted 16 times — he led the NFL with 125 catches — no one caught more than four passes for New Orleans. Alvin Kamara had four for 35 yards and also rushed for 71 yards. Mark Ingram added 53 yards on the ground as the Saints outrushed the Eagles 137-49. New Orleans is 6-0 at home in the playoffs with Payton and Brees.Foles was 18 for 31 for 201 yards. Jeffery had five catches for a team-leading 63 yards before the game-sealing drop.INJURIESIn a span of three plays http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-herman-edwards-jersey , two starters were hurt and needed to be carted off.First, Saints defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins went down midway in the first quarter, unable to put any weight on his left foot. Two plays later, Eagles right guard Brandon Brooks hurt his right leg and departed.Several Saints players said they would be playing for Rankins the rest of the way because his season was done.Philly also lost DB Rasul Douglas in the second quarter to an ankle injury, but he was back in the second half. DLs Fletcher Cox, an All-Pro, and Michael Bennett also were sidelined at times before returning. In the fourth quarter, left tackle Jason Peters left.UP NEXTThe Saints host the Rams in the early game next Sunday, with the winner going to the Super Bowl. The Eagles have several decisions to make heading into the start of the new league year, including one about their option on defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan‘s contract for the 2019 season. They have until March 13 to make that call, but it probably isn’t going to take that long. Jernigan’s option is for an $11 million salary and a $13 million cap hit, which is why there are multiple reports that the team is not expected to pull the trigger on bringing him back. Those reports believe that the door will be open for a return at a lower salary if he reworks his deal or if he tests free agency and finds that there’s not a better option than returning to Philly. That may wind up being the case as Jernigan missed most of last season after having back surgery. In addition to figuring things out with Jernigan, the Eagles have to decide if they’ll follow through on picking up wide receiver Nelson Agholor‘s fifth-year option for $9.5 million and if they’ll approach left tackle Jason Peters about redoing his deal. Any money saved on any of those fronts could be put toward trying to re-sign defensive end Brandon Graham if that’s something of interest to the team.

Earlier in the week, ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen reported that the Philadelphia Eagles plan to use the franchise tag on Foles Jawaan Taylor Jacksonville Jaguars Jerseys , and then trade him away, with Jacksonville being the Philly’s preferred trade destination for Foles — not only keeping him out of the NFC East division, but keeping him out of the entire National Football Conference. Now ESPN is doubling down on its belief that Foles will play his home games at TIAA Bank Field in 2019. Staff writer Dan Graziano revealed his 10 NFL bold predictions for 2019, and the first prediction on the list was that the Jaguars will acquire Foles this offseason. There was a second part to this Jacksonville Jaguars Jerseys 2019 , though, as Graziano also believes the Jags will miss the playoffs despite getting their veteran quarterback. Here is what Graziano had to say: The John DeFilippo connection is one that has been made many times by both fans and media members alike. DeFilippo was Foles’ quarterback coach in 2017 when he led the Eagles to an impressive postseason run and eventual Super Bowl championship. But, whether or not there is actually any merit to this line of thinking remains to be seen. In fact, head coach Doug Marrone has already stated that DeFilippo’s hiring had absolutely nothing to do with the potential of landing Foles. Schefter also reported that the Eagles are hoping to acquire a third-round pick for Foles. Coincidently Jawaan Taylor Jersey Color Rush , the Jaguars own two third-round selections in the 2019 NFL Draft after trading Dante Fowler Jr. to the Los Angeles Rams. So, let’s open this up for discussion. Please note there are two polls below and use the comments section to talk about the potential situation. Do you see Nick Foles wearing a Jaguars jersey in 2019?

He originally signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted rookie free agent last year. The Northwestern alumnus spent timeon the Bucs’ practice squad before being promoted to their active roster in November. He was waived a couple weeks later and claimed by the 49ers. San Francisco then cut Igwebuike yesterday. The Eagles left the 2019 NFL Draft without selecting a safety so they can afford to add more depth at that spot. Igwebuike is probably just a camp body but he’ll have a shot to prove himself this offseason.

Carolina on the road in Week 6.They're trying to do it again this season Black Mike Wallace Jerseys , this time at home.Despite winning the Super Bowl, the Eagles (3-3) are back to prove-it mode after a so-so start. The Panthers (3-2) are also looking to establish themselves as playoff contenders when they play in Philadelphia on Sunday."We were fortunate enough to come away way with a victory on the road," Eagles coach Doug Pederson said about a 28-23 win in a Thursday night game on Oct. 12, 2017. "This year, it's no different. Two good football teams. Two aggressive style defenses. So it's going to have to be a complete game if we expect to win. It's going to be a really good test for us to see where we are in Week 7."Both teams were 4-1 when they met last time. The Eagles already have matched their loss total from last season but they're coming off a dominating 34-13 win at the Giants on Oct. 11. The Panthers lost at Washington 23-17."There's no reason to panic," Panthers coach Ron Rivera said. "We're just going to keep working hard and trying to improve."Some things to watch between the Panthers and Eagles:TORREY'S RETURNPanthers wide receiver Torrey Smith was a starter for the Eagles last season and caught a touchdown pass on a flea flicker in the NFC championship game against Minnesota. He said he has no hard feelings over being traded to Carolina after only one season in Philadelphia. Pederson praised Smith's leadership ability."He's a great leader. Great man, first of all," Pederson said. "He brings explosiveness, he can still run, he can still get open."CONTAINING CAMThe 6-foot-5, 245-pound Cam Newton is difficult to tackle when he runs the ball. He has 208 yards rushing and a team-high three TDs on the ground."We have to make sure we do our job," Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham said. "If you don't, that's when Cam gets out and he beats you. He's a big boy. You just have to make sure you go get him Mike Wallace Jerseys 2019 , bring him to the ground, tackle well. We have to be aggressive but play smart, too."Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins said Newton is "more of a power running back than half the running backs they have."THE BODYGUARDEagles nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters isn't expected to miss a game despite tearing his right biceps. Pederson said there's no risk to a further injury and he doesn't see a need to rest the 36-year-old Peters. Halapoulivaati Vaitai replaced Peters after the two-time All-Pro had season-ending knee surgery last season. He performed well enough to help Philadelphia win the Super Bowl.CHESS MATCHEagles All-Pro center Jason Kelce is eager to match wits with four-time All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechly."You game plan against difference makers and he's one of those guys," Kelce said. "Not only is he an incredibly gifted athlete but mentally he's as sharp as they come. He does a phenomenal job as the orchestrator of that defense."DINK AND DUNKNewton has completed only one pass that traveled more than 20 yards beyond the line of scrimmage this season. He is also averaging just 6.8 yards per completion. But Newton's completion percentage under first-year offensive coordinator Norv Turner is a career-best 65.9."When we get into the logistical things of football and what the defense is giving and what they aren't, you just can't go down and chuck the football downfield and just expect, 'Well, we didn't take shots in the game,'" Newton said. "Whatever Norv and his offensive staff calls, it's my job as a quarterback to execute it."An honest evaluation of Alshon Jeffery’s impact on the Eagles’ offense First it was his “prove it” deal worth $14 million. Next it was his extension to the tune of 4 years, $52 million. Now there’s his impact of his return on the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles’ offense. When it comes to debate, Alshon Jeffery has no issue generating buzz.As writers, we’re in an opinion business. There isn’t a single sliver of this team that doesn’t receive a piping hot take from each outlet covering the Eagles. Think about it; all off-season and even to this day we trade barbs over the fourth running back spot and third linebacker position. They barely play. Think of the heat a conversation surrounding a “WR1” will generate. The seesaw slams one on side. It slams on the other. Stats get twisted and lose all meaning. In the middle, the truth is an unrecognizable blur. And that’s when we collectively fail YOU Black Nate Gerry Jerseys , gentle reader. That’s when we let planting flags and buzz words like “elite” dominate and dilute the conversation. That’s when we invest too much time in creating narratives and counterfactuals that send the truth spiraling hopelessly into a black hole. Those words came directly to me from Dan Hatman, former Eagles, New York Jets and New York Giants’ scout and Director of the Scouting Academy. What does a player bring to the team and what does he not? Those words stuck with me. Those words force me to take off the writer hat and put on the scout hat for debates like the one surrounding Jeffery. There’s no other way to not be affected by “The Narrative”.What follows is an honest evaluation of Alshon Jeffery. This is the result of hours of work studying Jeffery from my time at the Scouting Academy and through his 2017 campaign. Each position has a group of critical factors; we’ll start with athleticism and body type and proceed by working snap-to-finish. At the end there will be a conclusion; a summation about what value Jeffery brings to the Eagles.BODY TYPE/ATHLETICISMJeffery’s tall, lean frame of 6’3” and 218 pounds comes with long 33” arms and pickle jar hands (10 1/4”) that rank in the 93rd percentile. With this combination of height and length, he has a prototype frame for contested catches and jump balls with an understanding of how to leverage his size advantage against defenders. He’s never been very explosive out of his stance and his speed builds up quickly throughout the routes with his long strides. He’s a fluid athlete for his size, but he’s high cut and his long legs prevent him from remaining loose throughout chained changes of direction.Athleticism Grade: 4/7RELEASEJeffery limits the negative impact of his long lower body with step frequency at the line of scrimmage. This shows up when he’s faced with press coverage, which he defeats regularly. He understands leverage and how to attack it, getting on a defenders toes from press or off coverage and tilting them in the desired direction. His active hands, foot quickness, and play strength are particularly daunting for overaggressive cornerbacks who attempt to jam him. He has a full toolbox to deal with these situations. In the example below, Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson clearly intended to “quick jam”; his shoulders are past his toes with a forward lean and his feet are staggered, not parallel.Jeffery processes this information and executes a single move release. First, his feet come parallel or “come to balance” by bringing his back foot up and outside. His head comes with this step to the outside selling an outside release as he simultaneously moves his outside shoulder out of reach of Peterson. Next Nate Gerry Jerseys 2019 , he darts inside and reduces his strike zone by dipping his shoulder through contact and limit its effectiveness. This happens in a flash and the route is won immediately. While Jeffery wins these types of releases regularly, he did struggle occasionally when releasing outside and vertically from a plus split (outside the numbers). This mainly shows on his 2017 tape, and it’s unknown if his torn rotator cuff played a part in his effectiveness in this regard. Pumping your arms to build up speed or using your inside arm to stave off contact through the route stem can be tough when dealing with a shoulder injury of that magnitude.Despite being stacked more frequently than in the past, Jeffery’s nuance at the line and when attacking press and off coverage have always been a staple of his game and he can be trusted to win much more often than not.Release Grade: 6/7SEPARATION QUICKNESSJeffery wins at the top of his routes not with quickness, but with technique. This allows him to be smooth throughout the break-point and snap off high difficulty cuts at high speeds. This route is great example of how technique can make up for lateral agility on a hard angle. If Jeffery reaches for the break-point with his route-side foot and gets his first step too far outside of his frame, his hips will lock. That would cause him to be disjointed out of his break and likely require extra steps to complete the turn. That’s rarely if ever the case with Jeffery. Starting with a inside stem on his release to influence the defender, he follows up by hitting his right foot at the break-point with his numbers over his knee. This is ideal. It allows him to sink with his steps compact through the cut as he snaps his chin back in concert with the rest of his body. The ability to create windows out of cuts is particularly hard for men Jeffery’s size, but he wins enough with technique for it to be considered a plus aspect of his game. Additionally, his play strength (6/7 grade) and positioning often allow him to create windows at the catch-point, which is a different type of separation but equally important.Separation Quickness Grade: 4/7FIND VOIDThis trait details a players ability to not only settle into zones, but to process information against all types of coverages and apply that to different types of routes.Jeffery finds seams not only in the middle of the field, but he also diagnoses the relationship between cornerback and safety in live action. This speaks to his play speed (5/7 grade), the combination of athleticism and mental processing. He’s able to regularly find soft spots in short-to-intermediate zones due to his ability to quickly read coverages pre-snap and post-snap.He also does well to sell run looks or smoke routes and dart to space Black Destiny Vaeao Jerseys , as evidenced by his 32-yard touchdown against the Aqib Talib and the Denver Broncos.Considering he’s had five different quarterbacks to establish relationships with over the past two years, any early chemistry issues with new quarterbacks can be forgiven and have been no issue over larger sample sizes. Quarterbacks and wide receivers need to see and process the action in unison, and the film history suggests that Jeffery works hard to cultivate that understanding.Find Void Grade: 6/7HANDSThere are two ways to look at Jeffery’s consistency as a pass catcher. First, there’s the often cited catch rate. Last year, for the first time since being a rookie, Jeffery’s catch rate dipped below 55%, coming in at a less than ideal 47.5%. Having addressed chemistry concerns already, let’s couple that together with drop rates.Jeffery’s drop rate typically comes in around 5%, which is perfectly acceptable. Last year, including the playoffs, Pro Football Focus attributed him with a 4.2% drop rate. That ranked tied for 7th best out of 46 qualifying receivers. From the second half of the season through the Super Bowl he caught 35 of 35 passes deemed “catchable”. In summation, catch rates can be and typically are wildly misleading.Jeffery’s long arms and big mitts allow him to routinely pluck the ball away from his frame and above his eyes and his build allows him to absorb contact at the catch-point. There are some drops above his eyes and away from his frame which are few and far between. His willingness to make catches over the middle is also a big part of his game that facilities him being effective to all three levels of the field.Hands Grade: 5/7BODY CONTROLThis one is easy for Jeffery. From my 2017 report from the Scouting Academy Summer Showcase:This trait was showcased in the biggest game of his career.Body Control Grade: 7/7YARDS AFTER CATCHYou’ve heard of “get what you block for back”, meant to knock a running back for his lack of ability to create on his own or get extra yards otherwise. Jeffery is a YAC what you scheme for receiver. The physicality that permeates the rest of his game vanishes with the ball in his hands and he is content to simply fall forward for a few yards when there are defenders encroaching on his Destiny Vaeao Jerseys 2019 , to use a Madden term, “tackling cone”. Coupled with his lack of lateral agility, this is by far the worst part of Jeffery’s game.YAC Grade: 2/7SUMMARY...What does Alshon Jeffery bring to the Philadelphia Eagles and what impact does he have?Jeffery is going to bring consistent production with a potential to take over games with his contested catch ability. Life is easier for quarterbacks when he’s on the field as he makes his impact felt at all three levels and hauls in tight-window targets with high frequency. Jeffery rarely receives double coverage, but an added bonus is that he forces deep safeties to respect his presence when he’s lined up on the weak side of formations that the Eagles like to use, like trips. When you factor in his top-notch competitive toughness (7/7) after playing a full season with a torn rotator cuff, plus other factors not explicitly graded in this article, he comes in at the fringe of “starter you win because of” and “starter you win with”. That’s a high grade in a strict system that not many I have evaluated achieve. Considering the production we’ve had from the outside receiver position before and after Jeffery, and even viewing it in a vacuum, his impact on this offense can not be overstated. He’s a high-level starter that brings a significant upgrade. I don’t need any fancy labels or twisted stats to see that.

For the premise of this thought process we are going

Jacksonville Jaguars are signing Nick Foles in free agency to a five-year contract. We’re assuming that..."For the premise of this thought process we are going to operate under the assumption that the Jacksonville Jaguars are signing Nick Foles in free agency to a five-year contract. We’re assuming that for the foreseeable future the Jaguars plan at quarterback is Nick Foles and they’re not going to spend any draft capital in 2019 on the quarterback position. With that being said http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-myles-jack-jersey , how will the Foles signing impact the Jaguars plans in the 2019 NFL Draft? You have to commit to FolesThe first point is going to be that if you’re going to sign Foles, you will need to give him the best chance to be successful on the offensive side of the ball. The Jaguars offense as it stands right now is a big step down from what Foles was working with on the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are better than the Jaguars are virtually every position across the board, especially skill positions. This has led a lot to think the Jaguars should spend the No. 7 overall pick on a wide receiver, but to be frank, there are not any Top 15 type wide receivers in this draft. That includes work out warrior D.K. Metcalf. The Jaguars can do the next best thing however and pick up a potential elite level tight end. I’ll honest and admit that spending the No. 7 overall pick on a tight end is awful value, but if quarterback is out of the equation and the Jaguars need to spend draft capital to help Foles, the best course of action is going to be a high end tight end or an offensive lineman, and we all know how I feel about drafting guards and right tackles in the Top 10.A rookie tight end for the Jaguars is going to be the best possible scenario to get a big impact from a rookie on the offensive side of the ball. The Jaguars recently declined the option on Austin Seferian-Jenkins and the rest of their tight end room are just a bunch of guys. Snapping up someone like T.J. Hockenson or Noah Fant with the seventh overall pick would give the Jaguars not only an instant starter, but a tight end who can play in a multitude of formations. While Hockenson is the better blocker and Fant is the better receiver, both come from a college team that runs a lot of pro-sets and NFL concepts. Both have a ton of snaps playing in-line, split wide and even as a type of H-back out of the backfield. They should slide right in with little hiccup. John DeFilippo makes use of tight endsJaguars new offensive coordinator John DeFilippo has had a lot of production from the tight end position everywhere he’s had a hand in calling plays. His one season with the Cleveland Browns in 2015 saw Gary Barnidge haul in 79 receptions for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns. He never came anywhere close to that any other season.Zach Ertz had already broken out by the time DeFilippo was hired as the quarterbacks coach for the Eagles Womens Yannick Ngakoue Jersey , but with DeFilippo taking on designing plays for the redzone, Ertz did see his touchdown production increase. In his two years with DeFilippo Ertz caught 12 redzone touchdowns. When DeFilippo moved to the Minnesota Vikings he already had a ready-made tight end in Kyle Rudolph and he continued his production, including three touchdowns in the redzone.I think the Jaguars can get by with the receivers they have on the roster and they’re going to want to give 2018 second-round pick DJ Chark as many snaps as he can prove himself, so a rookie receiver isn’t likely to get a ton of playing time. The tight end position however, is a nightmare and adding one of the Iowa tight ends gives you an instant starter and a high chance for an instant impact.Rounds 2 and 3 are also likely to be offensive playersTo continue giving Foles the best chance, the Jaguars need to come back in rounds two and three and pick up an offensive lineman and at least one running back. You can argue that you can find a tight end in these rounds as well, but the drop off from Hockenson, Fant and Alabama’s Irv Smith is pretty big and it’s possible all three will be gone by your second round pick. On the flip side, rounds two and three in this draft should be prime spots to pick up an offensive lineman who can start on the right side at guard or tackle and the third round is where you can pluck from the glut of mid-round running backs. We saw last season the Jaguars get hammered by going light at the running back position and flailing to solve it mid-season. I’d expect the team to pick at least one in the mid-rounds this draft as not only an insurance policy, but real depth. There’s an argument to pick an offensive lineman in the first round and get a tight end in these rounds, but as I mentioned if I’m looking for a big impact early I’m going with my starting tight end over a right guard/tackle. I know all about Lane Johnson and Quinton Nelson, but I just can’t bring myself to argue for taking a right sided offensive lineman in the Top 10 of a draft.I have a hard time seeing a quarterbackI know some of you are probably screaming “PICK A QUARTERBACK TOO!” if someone like Dwayne Haskins falls to the seventh overall pick DJ Chark Jersey , or someone like Will Grier or Tyree Jackson in the third round, but I just have a hard time seeing it. I’m fully prepared to sign Foles in free agency and watch the Jaguars make a selection, passing on Haskins if he’s on the board, with the seventh overall pick.As I said, if you’re signing Nick Foles in free agency as a “win now” type of move, you have got to equip him with the pieces to actually win now. Drafting a backup quarterback with the seventh overall pick or even a developmental one in the first four rounds isn’t how you do that. You can get actual contributors in those rounds who will contribute more than that quarterback will, which is hopefully none at all.Picking a quarterback after the fourth round as well is more often than not throwing a pick away, so look for your special teamers and developmental lineman/skill position players there.Defensive player is temptingThis draft is loaded with defensive lineman and there will be a glut of them available at No. 7 overall and it will be tempting to draft one. Adding another pass rusher is always helpful for an offense because it helps them get the ball back faster. I could totally see if certain lineman fall to the seventh overall pick the Jaguars snapping them up, but I still believe the best course of action is to try to give Foles weapons to work with more so than adding more to the defense.Trading down is hardWhile there are some who will scream to pick a quarterback too, there’s going to be just as many going on and on about trading down. The chances that happen however are extremely thin. To put it simply, historically David Caldwell has avoided potential trade downs and outright declined some to get his guy. Their trend is to fall in love with a player and pick them with their pick in lieu of trading down.To pair with that, it’s highly unlikely there will be a player teams will be willing to trade up to No. 7 overall for. The two teams picking right after the Jaguars aren’t going to pick a quarterback http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-a.-j.-cann-jersey , so even if Haskins or Kyler Murray fall to No. 7 overall, there is no pressure for a team to trade up for them. They can wait a pick or two and give up less capital to do so. Outside of quarterback, the depth of the defensive line class likely means teams won’t be moving up for any of those players, either. Long story short; If you’re signing Nick Foles in free agency, you’re going to have to spend draft capital to help him out. Pick one of the impact tight ends early to be your starter, then fill out the offensive line and running back position. There have been some surprising developments in the opening hours of the NFL’s pre-free agency legal tampering window, but some expected moves are also going down. One that everyone saw coming was quarterback Nick Foles joining the Jaguars and it is coming to pass. Word was that the two sides could have a deal done on Monday and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that they have come to an agreement. It is reportedly going to be a four-year deal with a base value of $88 million when things can become official on Wednesday afternoon. The deal can reportedly be worth as much as $102 million with Adam Schefter of ESPN reporting that there is $50.125 million in guaranteed money. The move reunites Foles with John DeFilippo, who was the Eagles’ quarterbacks coach when Foles was Super Bowl LII MVP and is heading into his first year as the offensive coordinator in Jacksonville. That link and the scant number of open starting quarterback jobs around the league made it easy to predict that Foles would wind up in Jacksonville.

Jeff and EJ make some final predictions as we settle

We made it.The 2019 NFL Draft starts tonight and while the Chicago Bears will almost certainly not make a pick on day 1 this year (just remember http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-kyle-fuller-jersey , Khalil Mack wears navy and orange now), there is still plenty to talk about. Jeff and EJ make some final predictions about what will happen with the Bears picks including where the Bears are most likely to draft a running back, whether or not a kicker will be taken in round 7, and if Ryan Pace will use some of next year’s picks to add more talent to the 2019 roster. All that and more in the final pod before the draft. Be sure to check back over the weekend for Windy City Gridiron’s rapid reactions to the draft. After you listen to the pod, hit up the comments below to make your final predictions on what will happen in the draft. Be sure to follow us on Twitter @bearsoverbeers, @thedraftsmanfb, and @gridironborn. Spoiler: DQ loves him some LSU players."With the draft looming, it’s the right time to look back and see if this Falcons team and front office have certain preferences in drafting with Dan Quinn at the helm. Today, I thought we’d look at the schools Falcons draft picks have originated from.As you’d expect Womens Bryce Callahan Jersey , Quinn and company show a marked preference for one school in particular, one significant enough that it can’t be chalked up to mere coincidence four years in. He shows a weaker preference for a handful of other schools, but beyond that it gets dicey trying to break this thing down by college, to say nothing of conference. Let’s dive in. Players drafted by school4 LSU2 UCLASan Jose StateClemson1AlabamaColoradoSouth FloridaSouthern MissYaleOregon StateSan Diego StateWyoming DrakeFloridaStanfordMinnesotaIndianaEast CarolinaEastern Washington As you’ll note, the Falcons have a strong preference for LSU players under Dan Quinn, with far and away the most selections coming from that school. DQ has presided over a draft with an LSU player joining the team for each of the last four seasons and has snagged one star in Deion Jones, one promising young receiver and special teams gunner in Russell Gage, one young but struggling linebacker in Duke Riley, and one bust-by-virtue-of-suspension in Jalen Collins. Next up are UCLA (Takkarist McKinley and his 13 sacks and still major upside Josh Bellamy Jersey , plus Devin Fuller, who was felled by injury), San Jose State (off-and-on starting guard Wes Schweitzer and Akeem King, who flamed out in Atlanta but found a home in Seattle), and Clemson (Vic Beasley and his 29.5 sacks and uncertain future and certified star Grady Jarrett). Otherwise, the Falcons have not selected more than one player from a school in the four seasons in which Quinn has been in Atlanta. What does this mean for 2019?It would be legitimately surprising if the Falcons didn’t draft someone from LSU. Linebacker Devin White is a consensus top 20 pick from the school, but that would arguably be a luxury/future-looking pick for a team with Deion Jones, De’Vondre Campbell, Foye Oluokun and plenty of depth. Cornerback Greedy Williams is a likely first rounder http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-anthony-miller-jersey , as well, but doesn’t figure to be seriously in play for Atlanta unless he falls back into the second round. That leaves us looking at late rounders with LSU ties. Foster Moreau is a block-first tight end who could serve as a long-term replacement for Luke Stocker and Logan Paulsen, space-eating, strong defensive tackle Ed Alexander could be a fit for the team’s fourth DT gig, and Nick Brossette could be a seventh round pickup for the Falcons as a physical back with quality blocking skills and hands. I wouldn’t rule out any of them, given DQ’s strong predilection for LSU players.Clemson is a strong contender to improve their standings here, as well. Clelin Ferrell, Dexter Lawrence and Christian Wilkins are all first round fits for a defensive line in need of talent, and Trayvon Mullen could be a third round find for this football team as a corner with size and legitimate coverage skills. Later on Womens Sherrick McManis Jersey , pass rusher Austin Bryant and tackle Mitch Hyatt are contenders if the Falcons whiff on those positions early on.UCLA and San Jose State don’t have a lot of draft-eligible players who figure to be on the team’s radar this year, so we won’t spend time breaking those down. The big picture takeaway, of course, is that the Falcons haven’t limited themselves to certain schools or conferences in making their selections, which has largely been to their benefit under Dan Quinn. Just don’t be surprised if they wind up with yet another LSU and/or Clemson player by the time the draft wraps up later this month.

Playing alongside Philip Rivers is something not many get to do and the only highly-productive season he had was when Keenan Allen was hurt, which meant Williams walked into 119 targets. Trevor Williams’ strange, disappointing season also continues as it has all year. He will e inactive. Rookie wide receiver, recently called up from the practice squad, Dylan Cantrell will be inactive. Brandon Mebane is still not ready to return. In happier news, second-year offensive lineman Forrest Lamp is finally active again. Perhaps he will even find some playing time against a bad Bengals team. Regardless Melvin Gordon Jerseys Stitched , it is nice to see him at least making the active roster again.

Avonte Maddox gets playing time at a new position Here’s a breakdown

Philadelphia Eagles’ 26-23 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 4 of the 2018 NFL season.OFFENSEBrandon Brooks had to come out for a play after suffering some kind of lower body injury. As is the case with Jason Kelce Womens Nelson Agholor Jersey , he was clearly playing at less than 100%.Nelson Agholor basically played the whole game and only had five receptions for 22 yards. He dropped four passes in total, two of which would’ve gone for first down conversions. He also fumbled. It was a bad day for the Eagles’ 2015 first-round pick. It was also a bad time to have a bad day.The Eagles eased Alshon Jeffery, who has been dealing with an illness, back into the lineup a little bit. Jeffery was a super efficient target for Carson Wentz. Jeffery caught eight of his nine targets for 105 yards (13.1 average) and one touchdown. Great to have him back moving forward.Jordan Matthews played a good deal as the number three receiver but he was only targeted three times. His sole reception was a 56-yard touchdown where Malcolm Butler forgot to cover him. JMatt dropped a wide open pass later in the game right before the play where Wentz got strip-sacked. Despite dealing with a fractured back, Jay Ajayi saw the most snaps of any Eagles running back. He had 15 carries for 70 yards as a runner and three receptions for 11 yards as a receiver. Tough dude.Wendell Smallwood contributed with five carries for 39 yards on the ground. He had three receptions for 15 yards. With Jeffery back, Dallas Goedert’s playing time dropped from 67% last week to 40% this week. The rookie tight end was targeted two times and had two receptions for 13 yards. He also drew a pass interference penalty at one point. It’s good to see Kamar Aiken and Joshua Perkins getting a lot less playing time.Shelton Gibson tripled his offensive playing time from last week. Josh Adams got in for a snap early in the game but didn’t play at all after that. The Eagles play-faked a handoff to him.DEFENSEWith Rodney McLeod out, 33-year-old Corey Graham was forced to play 100% of the defensive snaps. Including the one where he allowed Taywan Taylor to be uncovered for an easy 4th-and-15 conversion with the game on the line.Derek Barnett saw the most snaps of any defensive end. Brandon Graham played the second most this week after getting outsnapped by Chris Long and Michael Bennett last week. Maybe Bennett should’ve seen more time considering how good he was looking early on.McLeod’s absence forced the Eagles to play rookie corner Avonte Maddox back at safety. Maddox told reporters he’s never played safety in a game prior to Sunday. Not ideal.SPECIAL TEAMSDeiondre’ Hall didn’t receive any defensive reps despite the fact the Eagles are now without McLeod. The Eagles had Maddox Zach Ertz Jersey , who has never played safety before, getting playing time ahead of him. Also no defensive snaps for Rasul Douglas despite the fact the corners on the Eagles’ depth chart ahead of him have struggled. DeAndre Carter made the most of his limited playing time by taking one of his two punt returns for 42 yards. That play gave the Eagles a chance to tie the game and go into overtime. It’s worth keeping Carter active as a punt returner until Darren Sproles is back, at least.DID NOT PLAYINACTIVE: Corey Clement, Darren Sproles, Josh Sweat, Nate Sudfeld, Matt Pryor http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-fletcher-cox-jersey , Jordan Mailata, Chance WarmackACTIVE: Nick FolesEagles’ Doug Pederson talks Carson Wentz’s return, wide receiver position The Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson talked to the media on Monday following the team’s first loss of the year on Sunday. There was a lot to get into with several injuries early on against Tampa Bay, not to mention concerns about the secondary, but to get started, Pederson announced — what we’ve all been waiting months to hear — Carson Wentz will be the team’s Week 3 starting quarterback. (HE’S BAAAAACK.)Here’s what the head coach had to say about getting Wentz ready to go, and the team’s plans to add some depth at wide receiver:On Carson Wentz’s returnThe head coach has been waiting for weeks to have Carson Wentz medically cleared for contact and full participation and Pederson showed up to his presser with a big smile on his face. The news finally came down from the team’s medical staff that the QB is good to go — and the Eagles are not wasting any time getting him back on the field.“He’s cleared Womens Jake Elliott Jersey , he goes,” Pederson quipped, and said that’s how they’ve always planned for Wentz to get back on the field. They weren’t going to hold him back for a week or two to get him acclimated to getting back in the swing of things. Pederson said they drafted Wentz to be “that guy” and he’ll be back in the starting spot Sunday.Pederson said Wentz is ready to take the reigns again. The head coach acknowledged it’ll take some time to get back into a rhythm and get back into the speed of the game, and expects a couple mistakes along the way, but he says the quarterback will be ready mentally. He said they’ll still have conversations with him about how to protect himself and things like that, but they aren’t going to limit him in terms of play calling.Ultimately he said he’s not going to coach scared or paranoid, he’s going to coach to win and that’s just what he has to do.Both Wentz and Pederson are excited that the quarterback will be back on the field Derek Barnett Jersey , but the head coach noted they have to remember it’s not about one guy. With several areas they need to improve — especially given Sunday’s loss — they need to stay focused on the larger picture of the whole group.Pederson said that it was challenging for Wentz to sit on the sideline, but the head coach talked to him honestly about how the team was looking out for his best interest and the interest of his long term career. Doug was very candid, telling the QB that whether he was the head coach here or not, he wanted the best possible future for Wentz — and that meant taking his return slowly. On Colts prepThere is no specific plan to bring in another wide receiver or two to add some depth, but Pederson did say a veteran would be easier to get brought up to speed over a rookie. Although, in the meantime they were going to have to rely on their tight ends more and the run game to make up for so many of the team’s veteran receivers not playing. He said they are working through it now, and they’ll see how things are starting to flesh out on Wednesday in practice. He said that recent practice squad addition Braxton Miller has made an impressive http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-ronald-darby-jersey , but he’s another guy who will need coached up a bit, simply because he hasn’t had much exposure to the Eagles offense at this point.Pederson echoed Zach Ertz’s sentiment that Wentz isn’t Superman, and the team and fans alike can’t think the QB is going to come back in and everything is going to be great. It’s a team sport and there are still things that need fixed that Wentz won’t be the answer to.On injuries and return timelinesAlshon Jeffery is still week-to-week and Pederson won’t put a timetable on his return — just like he wouldn’t with Wentz.Mike Wallace suffered a fibular fracture during the game on Sunday and will miss several games — at the least. They aren’t putting him on IR just yet, but they are still evaluating things over the next couple of days.Jason Peters tweaked his quad against Tampa Bay.

Hackett on Monday morning and whoever calls the plays now probably won’t have left guard Andrew Norwell helping to execute them for a while.Norwell was carted to the locker room after hurting his ankle in Sunday’s loss to the Bills and the team almost immediately annnounced he was doubtful to return to action. He never did and a report on Monday indicates it will be a while before he’s back in action.Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Norwell is set to miss “a few weeks” with what has been diagnosed as a sprained ankle. Schefter adds that he’ll be having an MRI to determine the full extent of the injury. If the MRI is worse than thought Cedric Ogbuehi Jerseys Stitched , Norwell’s season will likely be over. Even if it isn’t, there may not be much point in bringing him back for the final weeks of a losing season given the five-year commitment the Jaguars made to Norwell in free agency. LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Calais Campbell watched the NFL’s conference championship games on his phone while flying home from South Africa last weekend. The stream cut in and out occasionally, causing Campbell to think for a brief moment that he missed something when no flag was thrown on Los Angeles Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman late in the NFC title game. Turns out, Campbell saw it perfectly clear and was stunned officials chose not to penalize Robey-Coleman for flattening Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis before the ball arrived.“Very, very surprised,” Campbell said. The now-infamous no-call has been the talk of Pro Bowl week, with several players calling for better officiating and more accountability for those in black and white. Others suggest expanding the use of video replay.“You just make a better call,” Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins said. “I know there’s been talk about replay. But you really didn’t need replay to make that call. It was just a missed call. It was that simple. That happens. You have human error, but it’s unfortunate when that changes everything that you’ve worked for as a team and how hard it’s been to get back to that spot. That’s tough.”No one at the league’s annual all-star game went as far as retiring New Orleans Saints tight end Benjamin Watson did, though. Watson ripped NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Thursday for his public silence following the blown call.Watson posted a letter to Goodell on Twitter, saying “we all realize that football is an imperfect game Youth Landry Jones Jerseys , played, coached and officiated by imperfect people. What occurred last Sunday in New Orleans, though, was outside of that expected and accepted norm.”“Your continued silence on this matter is unbecoming of the position you hold, detrimental to the integrity of the game and disrespectful and dismissive to football fans everywhere,” Watson continued. “From the locker room to Park Ave., accountability is what makes our league great. Lead by example. We are waiting.”Officials could have — and by most accounts should have — flagged Robey-Coleman for pass interference and helmet-to-helmet contact during the play. Drew Brees‘ pass fell incomplete inside the Rams 10-yard line with 1:45 left in a tie game. The Saints settled for a field goal. The Rams tied the game on Greg Zuerlein’s 48-yarder in regulation and won it in overtime with his 57-yarder.“How many times have you played a football game and seen the call that should have been called but didn’t, or a call that got called and it shouldn’t have been called?” Campbell said. “It happens all the time in this game. It’s just part of football. You get upset for a second, but then you go keep playing ball. The Saints did have a chance. They had the ball in overtime, had a chance to go out there and win it. This game, it’s tough.”But the overwhelming sentiment at the Pro Bowl was something needs to be done to prevent errors as egregious as the one in the NFC title game.“The tough thing is we have things that are reviewable, things that aren’t reviewable Landry Jones Jerseys Stitched ,” Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Kyle Williams said. “You can’t review it inside of two minutes. I don’t know why we put limitations on things, but at the same time, games have missed calls one way or another. But you hated to see something that appeared to be that way finish a game like that, finish a season. For us as a league, it’s hard to limit when you can and when you can’t review those things and do all that.”Added Dallas Cowboys linebacker Leighton Vander Esch: “If dudes are missing calls on the field, they’ve got to make them up in the box.”Several others echoed Vander Esch’s argument, which essentially was: What’s the point of having extra officials upstairs and more watching at the league office in New York if no one can step in and correct an obvious mistake?“Honestly, full speed, I was like, ‘He kind of got there early, but it was bang-bang,'” New York Giants safety/special teams ace Mike Thomas said. “You slow it down Dontavius Russell Jacksonville Jaguars Jerseys , clearly he got there early. I was like, ‘Ohhh.’ It looked way worse when you slowed it down.“We’ve been calling for — players, coaches, fans — for replays for pass interference calls anyway. There’s a bunch of times they throw it on DBs and we feel like we’re in great position. I think you just make all those major calls like that reviewable and just got from there.”Not everyone was so eager to broaden use of replay.Campbell, for one, urged fans and colleagues to slow down. He believes more replay would only muck up the tempo of games and make them longer.“You cannot open up a can of worms,” said Campbell, an 11-year veteran and a team player rep. “But what you can do is you can try to prepare the referees better because they can’t miss that call. In those clutch situations, in that moment, he has to make that call. And whatever the consequences are for him missing the call, maybe make those public so we all know and everybody feels better. Make them be held accountable and they will have the motivation to call it the right way.”
