Hatchets

As your woodcutting level increases you will unlock better and better hatchets that you can use. You should always use the best hatchet that is available to you. You should also add the best hatchet you have to your tool belt. This will save you an inventory spot and you will never have to worry about forgetting your hatchet in your bank. An important note here is that you can’t withdraw your hatchet from your belt.

Augmentation

If you have at least level 22 invention you can start augmenting your hatchets. This can only be done to your dragon or crystal hatchets. If your hatchet is in your toolbelt you can augment it by talking to the Doc in the invention guild. The perks that are recommended for woodcutting are as follows:

• Honed 6: Has a 12% higher chance of successfully gathering items.
• Furnace 4 + Fortune 3: Has a 20% chance of consuming a gathered resource for an extra 100% experience. Has a 1.5% chance to double and bank what you have gathered or produced. Furnace only triggers in activities where resources are received.

Lumberjack Outfit

Lumberjack outfit is an outfit that boosts players' Woodcutting experience. It can be obtained from the temple trekking minigame. It takes around 20 - 40 minutes to get all the pieces. The outfit provides an exp boost per piece worn:

There are 3 different outfits that can be made from the fragments:

After fully crafting all of them you can combine them to make nature's sentinel outfit. You should craft and use these outfits as soon as you can as they provide a lot of bonuses, such as increased success chance while woodcutting or increased bird nests and crystal geode drop chance.

Sana’s Fyrtorch

Sana’s Fyrtorch is a skilling offhand for woodcutting. You need level 80 fletching to fletch it from a Croesus foultorch which is a rare drop from Croesus. When equipped it provides a 6% increase to success chance when woodcutting as well as 20% chance to chop twice in a single game tick.

Lumberjack Auras

These are auras that can be bought with loyalty points. They can be activated for an hour and they will boost your woodcutting success rate. They can be used again after 3 hours.

Urns

Urns can be used to gain additional woodcutting experience while training. When held in your inventory they will start accumulating experience as you woodcut. When they are filled up you can release them to get experience. The better urn you use the more experience you will get. The tradable version of the urns are called (nr) and to make them usable you will need to add earth runes to them which makes them untradable. You also need a certain crafting level to add this rune.

Perfect Juju Woodcutting Potion

This potion lasts for one hour one consumed and gives the player 5% chance to get two logs instead of one while woodcutting this doubles the experience you receive.

Log-Splitting Scrimshaws

Scrimshaws are equipable OSRS Items that can be activated like auras to provide bonuses to the player character. Unlike auras they can be deactivated and activated whenever the player wants. While active this scrimshaw has a 20% chance to destroy the log you chop to provide you additional experience.

Skillchompas

Skillchompas are items that can be used instead of a hatchet. A skillchompa is used each time you attempt to collect a resource whether that attempt is successful or not. If you successfully gain the resource it increases the experience you gain by 10% if you fail it however it will still grant you 5% of the experience you would have received on a successful attempt. Each skillchompa is equivalent to a hatchet of different tier:

• Cobalt skillchompa - Mithril hatchet
• Viridian skillchompa - Adamant hatchet
• Azure skillchompa - Rune hatchet
• Crimson skillchompa - Dragon hatchet
• Crystal skillchompa - Crystal hatchet

Seren Spells and Prayers

• Crystallise: This spell requires you to have ancient magicks unlocked and “The Light Within” quest completed alongside having level 88 magic. You can cast this spell on a tree that you are chopping for 6 water, fire, chaos and soul runes. Chopping a tree that has this spell on will not yield any resources but will increase the experience you gain by 50%. Tree that you cast this spell on will never deplete unless the spell runs out or someone other than the caster chops it. If another player chops down your tree your spell's timer will be paused until the tree replenishes.
• Light Form: With level 80 prayer you can start using the light form prayer after unlocking the ancient curses and completing “The Light Within” quest. This prayer increases the experience you gain from crystallise to 87.5%. Wearing a grace of the elves will reduce the prayer drain rate of this prayer by 50%.
• Superheat Form: Alternatively you can use the prayer superheat form to burn the logs that you receive. This will reduce the woodcutting experience you receive but will split the experience between firemaking and woodcutting. Wearing a grace of the elves will reduce the prayer drain rate of this curse by 50%.

Ring of Whispers

This item is a quest reward from the quest “Sliske’s Endgame”. Wearing this ring gives an invisible +3 to all gathering skills including woodcutting.

Incense Sticks

This item can be consumed to give bonus effects. Each stick consumed provides 10 minutes of the effect. When the incense are active, it’s potency increases every 10 minutes so consuming at least 4 sticks at a time is recommended.

• Torstol incense sticks: 0.5% increase per potency to base experience gain.
• Cadantine incense sticks: 2.5% chance per potency to not deplete a tree.
• Guam incense sticks: 10% chance per potency to gain additional logs from regular trees.

Relic Powers

Relic powers are permanent passive buffs that you can get through the skill Archaeology.

• Always Adze: When woodcutting, you will always burn your cut logs for firemaking experience.
• Inspire Effort: You will gain 2% more experience when training gathering skills.

Dwarven Chainaxe

Dwarven chainaxe can be used in XP mode to double the experience you receive while woodcutting. Since it has charges it is recommended to use it on a tree that gives a lot of experience per chop. These do not work during double experience weeks.

1-99 Woodcutting Guide

Levels 1-15 Regular Trees: From level 1-15 you will be chopping regular trees. South west of the grand exchange is a good place to do this in.

Levels 15-30 Oak Trees: At level 15 woodcutting immediately switch to oak trees as they do not deplete after one successful chop.

Levels 30-35 Willow Trees: At level 30 woodcutting you unlock willow trees, the best location for them is at Draynor village near the bank.

Levels 35-47 Teak Trees: Teak trees provide the best experience rates starting at level 35. You can find 9 teak trees in the hardwood grove. You will need trading sticks to get into the grove which can be bought from grand exchange.

Levels 47-94 Acadia Trees: These trees are located in Menpahos thus, partial completion of the quest “The Jack of Spades” is required to access them.

Levels 68-94 Ivy: Chopping ivy is the most afkable method of training woodcutting in Runescape 3. If you prefer not paying attention and afking this is the way to go.

Levels 81-94 Overgrown Idols: Overgrown idols can spawn on Karamja and Anachronia. You can find one near the gnome glider on Karamja. This is another afk method to train woodcutting. 

Levels 94-99+ Acadia Trees Using Crystallise: This provides the fastest experience rate in the game. Using crystallise and light form will yield up to 180K experience per hour. If you have full nature’s sentinel outfit alongside Sana’s fyretorch offhand you can gain up to 300K experience per hour.

Levels 94-96 Crystal Trees: There are 7 crystal trees in Runescape, only one of them is active at any given time. You can locate which one is active by going to any crystal tree, right click on it and click the option “look at crystal tree”. This will give you the information you need to locate the active tree. Alternatively if you have access to the max guild you can attune one of the portals to the crystal tree which will automatically take you to the active tree.

Levels 96-99+ Golden Bamboo: This is a rare tree that can only be found in uncharted isles. To get to an uncharted isles you will need to complete the quest Impressing the Locals. Completion of the miniquest “Flag Fall” is also recommended to be able to claim the uncharted isles to return to it easily. You must first skill on the arc to get chimes which can be used to get supplies which are necessary to be able to explore uncharted isles. Once you find an isle that has a golden bamboo on it claim it with your claim island flag. Everyday you can chop approximately 100 golden bamboo before it depletes. The daily cap resets at 00:00 UTC.

Divine Trees: These are items you can make by using the skill divination. They can be placed on the ground for anyone to chop, granting a lot of woodcutting experience. However there is a daily limit that prevents you from only doing divine trees.

3. 2 Necromancer skills /20FCR Rare Circlet (or 3 Poison and Bone /20FCR), a circlet can be used if required to hit the desired FCR breakpoint (additional defensive mods are desired). 

Shield:
You have two main options for shields.

Trang Oul’s Wing: The de facto item build for poison necromancers involves the use of three pieces of the Trang Oul’s set. While individually, the pieces are outperformed by the best alternative (with the exception of Trang Oul’s Claws), the set bonus provides a significant -25 to enemy poison resistance as well as a high utility ‘Cannot be frozen’ bonus which frees up a ring (Ravenfrost) or socket (Cham) slot.

Spirit (Runeword): Spirit provides huge boosts to resistances and between 25-35FCR. A 35FCR spirit is required to attain the 125FCR breakpoint while still wielding Deathweb.

Off-hand / Switch
Call to Arms / Spirit (Standard switch gear to apply war cries, remember to reapply this on new summons for additional survivability).

Gloves:

Trang Oul’s Claw: The only viable option for this slot with 25% increased poison damage, FCR, Cold resistances and Necromancer skill synergies.

Trang Oul’s Girth or Arachnid Mesh if you are not running the 3 piece set.

Boots: You have some different options

Sandstorm Treks: Provides some much needed Faster Hit Recovery (20), which can be lacking with many build variations. Additionally, some useful stats and huge poison resistances which can offset your Poison Sunder Charm.

Marrowalk / Rare Tri Res Boots are also options depending on your needs.
Amulet:

Maras Kaleidoscope: 2 Skills and a significant bump to your resistances makes this the de facto choice if you don’t require additional FCR.

FCR Rare or Crafted Amulet: 2 Necromancer and additional FCR as required to hit the desired Breakpoint (additional defensive mods desired). For non-spirit users running 3 Piece Trangs, 15FCR+ is required to hit the 75FCR breakpoint.

This guide will take you through an efficient method to level your Paladin and complete the game on Hell difficulty.  There are various approaches to levelling and the method will change depending on your situation (for example if you have been rushed, you will level differently), this guide presents a method for playing through the game yourself and levelling the traditional way.  We will also discuss an efficient way of allocating your skill points and useful items to collect / farm along the way.

The Paladin’s starting gear is a Short Sword and Buckler allowing you to deal reasonable damage from standard melee attacks straight away.  When you level for the first time take a point into the Sacrifice skill, this skill sacrifices a small amount of your own life to deal additional damage to enemies – this very useful in the early stages for killing Champion and Elite packs.  Your second skill point should be placed into Might aura to further increase your melee damage, allowing you to stroll through the early areas with ease.  Our levelling build will focus around the Holy Fire aura which is extremely strong in Normal difficulty.  The skill itself is not available until Level 6, however the Resist Fire aura is a synergy and adds bonus damage – so for levels 3, 4 and 5 place your skill points into Resist Fire.  From Level 6 onwards, place points into Holy Fire whenever possible.  Holy Fire deals fire damage to all monsters around you and also adds fire damage to your attacks, the damage scales extremely well in the early levels and you will have very little trouble killing anything in the early stages.

When you reach Level 12 place a point in the Zeal skill, a single point here is enough and when you level again revert to placing points into Holy Fire.  Zeal will be your main attack ability and strikes enemies multiple times, giving you multiple chances to hit enemies with large amounts of fire damage from your main aura.  I like to pick up the Charge ability also to provide better mobility to speed through maps, this isn’t a necessity, and I wouldn’t recommend this for beginners but for those more experienced in progressing through the game it is very useful.

For your stat points, the general rule is to put enough points into Strength and Dexterity for the equipment you need to use then spend the remainder into Vitality.  Extra points into Dexterity is useful to increase your chance to hit, however the passive fire damage from Holy Fire does enough and I prefer to increase my survivability.

In Act 1 the best place to gain early experience is in the Forgotten Tower beneath the Black Marsh.  Each level in the tower has at least 1 Champion or Elite pack, so you will find a minimum of 5 packs and the Countess herself on level 5 making it very efficient.  Killing the Countess also provides us with early rune drops and there are some very strong low level Runewords that we can target for the Paladin.  You will need to farm Countess until you find a Tal and an Eth rune to make the Runeword “Stealth” (Tal Eth) in a 2 socketed armour (you will find one of these as you play, and if you don’t Charsi sells them).  “Stealth” is a strong runeword for every character, particularly when we reset our skill and stat points to focus around the Blessed Hammer skill.  I would also recommend farming a Tir and an El rune to make “Steel” in a 2 socketed Scimitar.  Scimitars have low damage but a fast attack speed, and with the majority of damage coming from the extra fire damage we only care about how fast we are attacking.  Other items to look out for as you play through are Rings, Amulets and Wands with Faster Cast Rate for when we switch to Blessed Hammers.  Act 5 Quest 2 will provide you with a Ral, Ort and Tal rune which we can socket into a shield to make the “Ancient’s Pledge” Runeword which provides a big boost to our resistances (I would recommend a Targe or Rondache with some base resistance, or if you do not find one a Kite Shield is also fine).

When you fight Andariel in Act 1 drink 5-6 Antidote potions before engaging, these provide a passive boost to your poison resistance.  Similarly, when fighting Duriel in Act 2 drink 5-6 Thawing potions which has the same affect on your cold resistance.  Continue working your way through the game with the above build and you will have an easy run until you reach Act 4.  Act 4 monsters have relatively high fire resistance and you will notice a considerable drop off in your damage at this point if you continue with the Holy Fire build.  At this point I recommend resetting your skill and stat points and focusing on the Blessed Hammer skill.  The most efficient skill point allocation is to place 1 point in Might, Blessed Aim and Holy Bolt then as many as possible in Blessed Hammer and Concentration.  You will have a lot of unallocated skill points initially, however this means that whenever you gain a level you can place a point into both Blessed Hammer and Concentration simultaneously for the next 10 or so levels.  Put on all your Faster Cast Rate gear to try and hit a minimum of 48% Faster Cast Rate.  You will need to stock up on lots of Mana Potions initially as the mana cost of Blessed Hammer is high, however the trade off is huge amounts of damage when combined with Concentration Aura!  More experienced players should purchase a staff with Teleport charges from Ormus in Act 3 (you will likely need to reset his items by going in and out of town, however this should not take more than 15 minutes) and have this on your item swap to allow for quick progression through the game.

Once you have worked your way through Normal difficulty you can start doing Baalruns to gain experience and prepare yourself for Nightmare difficulty.  You should ensure you reach level 40 as a minimum before entering Nightmare, this can be done either playing solo or with a group.

The beauty of the Hammerdin build is there are minimal monsters that are immune to magical damage, and these only appear in Hell difficulty so working through Nightmare is very easy.

There are 2 Runewords that are extremely strong on the early Hammerdin – “Spirit” (Tal Thul Ort Amn) and “Lore” (Ort Sol).  Once you reach the Countess you will want to farm her until you gain 2x sets of Spirit runes and 1x set of Lore runes.  Make 1 spirit in a Long / Broad / Crystal Sword and one in a Paladin specific shield with base resistance.  The sword can be farmed in Normal Difficulty Cows, however a good shield is unlikely to drop until the end of Nightmare / early Hell.  Lore can be made in any 2 socketed helmet, it really doesn’t matter which one you use.  The Spirit combination on a paladin is the strongest early build in the game, it provides +4 to all skills, up to 70% Faster Cast Rate, Life, Mana and Resistances.  Another useful Runeword is “Insight” (Ral Tir Tal Sol) which we can make in a 4 socketed Polearm (farmed in Normal Cows) and give this to an Act 2 Mercenary, providing him with the Meditation aura and sustaining our mana.  Once you make these you will notice a huge power spike and progression through both Nightmare and Hell difficulties will be no problem at all.

When you finish Nightmare Difficulty, you will want to do more Baalruns and reach a minimum level of 60 before progressing into Hell.  Max out Blessed Hammer and Concentration first, then Vigor and finally Blessed Aim for the most efficient damage progression.  Gain a point in Holy Shield when you can to boost your block chance and increase survivability.

Hell Difficulty

The method for Hell Difficulty is very similar to Nightmare.  You will occasionally find monsters that are Immune to Magic (particularly in Act 2), however your Mercenary should be strong enough to take care of these.

With the Hammerdin build and recommended items you will have more than enough damage to deal with Hell difficulty, you will still need to take care with your survivability as Hell difficulty can throw up some particularly nasty Elite monster packs!  The most efficient farm location for early Hammerdins is The Choas Sanctuary and Travincal, both can be completed with relative ease and are very popular farming locations for D2R Runes and rarer items.

Requirements

To do birdhouse runs you must complete the quest “Bone Voyage”. This quest has two simple requirements;

• Completion of Dig site

After completing the quest you are allowed access to Fossil island which in turn allows you to start doing bird house runs but to do your runs efficiently you must unlock the digsite pendant. To get this pendant you must first complete the quest “Dig site” and after completing it you must clean uncleaned finds in Varrock museum until you receive a clean necklace. The chance of getting this item is 1/51. After finding it, talk to any archeologist in the museum’s cleaning area to learn how to enchant this necklace. After doing this you can use level-3 enchant (which requires level 49 magic) on a ruby necklace to create a digsite pendant.

After getting your pendant head over to the Fossil island and go to the “house on the hill”, use your necklace on the strange machine to unlock the fossil island teleport. At this point you are pretty much ready but if you never want to run out of digsite pendant charges you can mount one in your player owned house. To do this you will need to have level 82 construction.

Visit fossil island to unlock magic mush trees, one is on the top of the “house on the hill” another one is at mushroom forest and the last one is at verdant valley near the volcano. You can see a transport icon on your map indicating the mush trees. You must go and click on them once to unlock them.

Lastly to start doing birdhouse runs you need to have at least level 5 crafting and hunter. Once you get these rare items you can use it, or sell it for valuable OSRS GP, and generally, players take advantage of it.

Method

To do a run you will need to have 4 logs, a chisel, hammer, digsite pendant, any teleport out and seeds. If it’s your first time doing it, bring 4 clockworks as well. Teleport to fossil island using your pendant then click on the magic mush tree to teleport to verdant valley. Use your logs on your clockwork to create your birdhouse trap and place it on its spot. After placing it click on your seeds and then click on your birdhouse to fill it up. There are two spots in verdant valley so put a trap on both of them. After doing this head back to the magic mush tree to teleport to mushroom meadow. You will see the first bird house spot just to the north of you, place a trap there after placing that trap run south all the way to the entrance of the tar swamp. Place your trap there as well and you are done! These traps will catch birds every 50 minutes so you can repeat this run every 50 minutes.

Why play Protection Warrior

There are plenty of things to list out as reasons to play Protection Warrior, and to name a few:

• The defensive cooldowns that a Protection Warrior has access to are incredibly potent and incredibly versatile, their toolkit is complete in the way that it supports the specialization and it is one of the best tanks in the game due to this.
• The offensive cooldowns that a Protection Warrior has access to are equally strong, Protection is one of the highest damage dealing specializations in the game when it comes to burst AoE damage.
• Protection warrior has access to nearly unrivaled mobility and it is incredibly effective in all content.
• Spell Reflect is not always useful, but there are plenty of times and scenarios where it is completely and entirely game-breaking and overpowered. 
• Protection Warriors are one of the best tanks in the entire game at raw damage mitigation.

There are a few weaknesses of Protection Warrior and it’s important to understand those, too:

• Protection Warrior is incredibly susceptible to damage if misplayed, you will melt if you make a major mistake.
• As a Protection Warrior, your self-healing is limited compared to tanks like Vengeance Demon Hunter and Blood Death Knight. 
• Rotation does have downtime 
• Managing your cooldowns, both offensively and defensively, requires a high amount of skill and situational awareness.

The basics of Protection Warrior gameplay

As one of the tanks that has been in the game since the beginning, Protection Warrior has access to a very well-defined, large toolkit. If you are still a junior player and want your equipment to be more powerful, you must collect more WOW Gold, which is very important.

Protection Warrior is relatively simple in the way that it functions and the complexity comes into play when relying on your situational and spatial awareness to use your defensive and offensive cooldowns.

Protection Warrior functions by generating Rage, either by getting hit or by using your rage-generating abilities such as Shield Slam or Thunder Clap etc, then spending that Rage on Ignore Pain and Shield Block and Revenge. If you need more defensives, spend your Rage on Ignore Pain and if you need more damage, spend your rage on Revenge. Spamming Revenge in AoE or Execute in the execute phase of a fight will give you a burst of damage, but requires an unsustainable amount of rage generation, so keep generating Rage with Shield Slam and Thunder Clap and you will have more damage over the course of a fight, and to reiterate, maintain and use Shield Block any time you are tanking, it is critical to your success as a Protection Warrior. Letting Shield Block fall off is when most Protection Warriors die.

And lastly, always use Shield Slam on cooldown. It is an incredibly important and potent ability for both damage and for generating Rage.

Protection Warrior Cooldowns & Utility

Protection Warrior has an almost hilarious amount of utility both for yourself and for your group. Using this utility effectively is what sets a great tank apart. Your utility is the following:

• Shield Wall is your primary defensive cooldown, it has a pretty short cooldown with the talents you will take and is a 40% damage reduction for 8 seconds. This is an incredible defensive that you want to use early and use often.
• Demoralizing Shout is a middle of the pack defensive cooldown, it’s not quite as strong as Shield Wall, but it’s on a shorter cooldown, especially if talented into Thunderlord and in AoE. If you’re talented into Booming Voice, you will want to use Demoralizing Shout on cooldown, it becomes a major rage generator and offensive cooldown.
• Spell Reflect could have an entire guide on it’s own, it is an incredible tool in any offensive or defensive aspect to applicable spells, but make sure to use it frequently as you can, even if you won’t gain any reflected damage out of it or stop yourself from taking the damage, it’s a 20% damage reduction from spells.
• Last Stand is, while very basic in it’s baseline application just increasing your health, if talented into Bolster, it gets a lot of CDR and becomes a major source of Shield Block uptime and should be used frequently. 
• Rallying Cry is a your group or raid wide cooldown. This has incredible utility in the way that it alleviates pressure off of healers, and while you can use it selfishly for a last ditch effort to keep yourself alive, you should always focus on using this to help your raid and your party.
• Hamstring has a lot of value in it’s low cost, easily spammable application to create space when needing to back away from most mobs. It’s not an ability you will use often but when you do need it, it is invaluable.
• Battle Shout is your buff, and Warrior is the only class that provides this Attack Power buff to your party or raid. This is incredibly useful in increasing the damage output of your group and is a major benefit of bringing a Warrior so you won’t have any trouble finding a spot in groups. 
• Warrior has access to Heroic Leap and Charge, as well as Intervene if talented and all of these abilities function as incredibly useful gap-closers as well as the ability to create space when necessary.
• If talented, Shockwave is a frontal AoE stun that deals damage and AoE stuns will always play an integral role in pushing through dungeons more effectively. This ability, if talented, will always find use. In Mythic+ it is a must have.
