With this data point in place Justin McCray Jersey , what will players like Earl Thomas or Landon Collins demand in free agency?"The Green Bay Packers appear to be in the market for help at the safety position. Whether that happens through free agency or the draft, it is a good bet that the depth chart at that spot will look very different than it did to close the 2018 season. However, any efforts to upgrade through free agency in 2019 just got more difficult.Last offseason, the safety market was in disarray. A single safety received the franchise tag, as the Rams elected to pay Lamarcus Joyner like an elite player at just over $11 million. However, only one player who actually reached the open free agent market got a contract worth $7 million per year: Tyrann Mathieu, who was a cap casualty in Arizona and landed on a one-year deal with the Houston Texans for that number. A few other safeties signed contract extensions in the $6 to $6.5 million per year range, but they were all entering the final year of their rookie contracts at the time. In fact, only one other free agent safety — Kurt Coleman — even exceeded $5 million, signing a three-year deal with the Saints worth $16.35 million total. This year, however, the market is set for a massive rebound Womens Josh Jones Jersey , and the first domino fell on Monday afternoon. Eric Reid, who signed a one-year, $1.4 million deal with the Carolina Panthers a few weeks into the 2018 season, has just defined the market in 2019 by signing a new contract extension. Reid’s new contract will run for three years through the 2021 season and will reportedly pay him a bit over $22 million total — just over $7 million per season.Suddenly, we’re looking at a bounce-back of the safety market. Admittedly, the crop of safeties hitting free agency in 2018 was a relatively disappointing one. Mathieu, Coleman, and Morgan Burnett were the highest-paid of the bunch, while many speculated that Reid’s wait to sign and low contract value were connected to his demonstrations against social injustice during the national anthem and his support for former teammate Colin Kaepernick. In 2019, however, the situation is very different. Earl Thomas and Landon Collins, two former first-team All-Pros Josh Jackson Jersey White , are both scheduled to be free agents in March. So too is Joyner, who appears unlikely to receive a franchise tag for a second straight season, and Mathieu, who so far has not re-signed with the Texans. Other notable names like Corey Graham, Tre Boston, Mike Adams, and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix should also be on the market. For the top options like Thomas, Collins, and Joyner, they now have a data point for where to start in their negotiations with NFL teams when the negotiation window begins on March 11th. The agents for all of those players will surely value their clients above the $7.3 million per year mark that Reid’s deal will pay him, and they may all push for something north of $10 million annually. For the Packers, that’s a hefty price to pay. However http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-mason-crosby-jersey , that may just be the price of doing business with one of the top safeties in this year’s free agent class. Packers interim head coach Joe Philbin said that it wasn't easy to let associate head coach Winston Moss go from the coaching staff, but that he came to the decision because he "just didn't feel like the fit right now was where it needs to be."Philbin spoke on Wednesday before his first practice as the interim coach to replace the fired Mike McCarthy . Moss posted a message on Twitter on Tuesday that appeared to question that Packers leadership and quarterback Aaron Rodgers."Find somebody that is going to hold #12 (Rodgers' jersey number) and everybody in this building to a #LombardiStandard," read part of Moss' tweet , citing former Packers coach and Hall of Famer Vince Lombardi. When asked about the tweet, Philbin said the decision didn't have to do with just one factor. He then recounted what he told the team earlier this week."We've got to be professional, accountable, respectful and punctual 鈥?those are the four things that we've got to do the next four weeks," he said. "And if we do all those things we'll be in good shape."Moss joined the Packers' staff in January 2006, a week after McCarthy was hired as head coach. An NFL linebacker for 11 seasons, Moss primarily oversaw the outside linebackers. When longtime defensive coordinator Dom Capers was fired after last season, Mike Pettine was hired as his replacement. The Packers turned to Philbin, the offensive coordinator and former Dolphins head coach JK Scott Jersey White , to take over for McCarthy for the last four games of the season.Moss' limited interactions in recent years with the media were also often either brief or contentious."Yeah I think it's important obviously that everybody's on the same page, that we're all moving forward in the same direction. As you know, Winston's an excellent football coach, I've known him a long time," Philbin said. "Respect him, outstanding family man. So it wasn't an easy decision, but I just didn't feel like the fit right now was where it needs to be."Defensive assistant Scott McCurley, a former assistant linebackers coach, will take over Moss' duties, with Patrick Graham already coaching inside linebackers.

.The Green Bay Packers hung with the New England Patriots for a little over 45 minutes. However Kentrell Brice Jersey , Aaron Jones’ fumble on a promising drive in a tie game shifted all the momentum to the Patriots, who pounced on both the football and the opportunity that it presented.About eight minutes later, the game was all but over.New England scored two quick touchdowns after the fumble, thanks in part to a trick-play pass from Julian Edelman to James White, giving them their margin of victory in a 31-17 win over Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Rodgers threw a pair of touchdowns in the contest, one each to Davante Adams and Jimmy Graham, but he still looked out of sorts at times, missing some reads and receivers in what seems to becoming the new normal for him this season. He finished the game 24 for 43 for 259 yards, but although he only took one sack all game, he was under pressure consistently throughout. The Packers’ young playmakers on offense kept the team right in the thick of things until the fourth quarter. Marquez Valdes-Scantling set up the Packers’ first touchdown with a 51-yard gain on a deep bomb and had his second 100-yard game as a rookie, while Aaron Jones kept up his sparkling yards-per-carry average with 76 yards on 14 carries. However Geronimo Allison Jersey , that fumble will be the lasting image from the game for the second-year running back.Injuries were another major storyline throughout the middle of the game for the Packers. Right tackle Bryan Bulaga, cornerback Kevin King, safety Kentrell Brice, and inside linebacker Blake Martinez all left the game with various issues, sapping the defense of much of its playmaking ability down the stretch. Combined with a controversial ejection of Jermaine Whitehead, the Packers were essentially down to Antonio Morrison and Oren Burks at linebacker for a stretch in the second half, though Martinez did return to the game late. The Patriots started the game by running their offense at warp speed, covering 59 yards in just three minutes and 20 seconds on the opening drive of the game. James White was uncoverable, catching three passes and carrying the football twice as the Packers were stuck with Oren Burks in coverage on him and unable to substitute due to the Pats’ no-huddle offense. White’s second carry went for an eight-yard touchdown, giving the Patriots an early 7-0 lead. The Packers responded with a score of their own, but they had to settle for a field after reaching the red zone. A healthy dose of Aaron Jones and Jimmy Graham got them there Aaron Jones Jersey , but a delay of game penalty and an inexplicable receiver screen to Randall Cobb on third-and-goal from the 14 signaled that Mike McCarthy gave up on the series to settle for three points.Following a Mike Daniels sack and a Patriots punt, the Packers elected to punt the ball away on fourth-and-six from the Patriots’ 44-yard line. A little trickery got the Pats a seven-point lead back, as a flea-flicker to Julian Edelman set up the Pats in field goal range to take a 10-3 lead.Midway through the second quarter, McCarthy decided to really get Aaron Jones involved in the game plan. Jones and Davante Adams combined for 51 yards on the drive, and a 13-yard run by Jones set up the Packers near the goal line. On third-and-goal, Rodgers scrambled to his left to find an open Adams to tie the game at ten. However, the team lost Bryan Bulaga in the second quarter to a knee injury, and he would not return. The Patriots struck back on the next series. James White left the field after a few plays with an apparent hamstring injury, at which point Cordarrelle Patterson took over in the backfield. Patterson ran the ball on four straight plays, picking up 40 yards and finding the end zone to give New England a 17-10 lead. It was on this series that Whitehead was tossed.Coming out of the half, the Packers got a huge play from Rodgers and rookie Marquez Valdes-Scantling on a third and six deep in their own territory. With good protection Lane Taylor Jersey , Rodgers lofted a deep ball to MVS for 51 yards, setting the Packers up in a great spot near the red zone. A few plays later, Rodgers found Jimmy Graham on a deep cross in the back of the end zone for a touchdown to tie the game at 17.A great goal-line stand for the Packers’ defense culminated in pass breakups by Josh Jackson and Bashaud Breeland, keeping the Patriots from taking a lead. but the offense could not get out of the shadow of their own end zone. Thankfully, a solid punt by JK Scott and a holding penalty on New England pushed them back to their own 36. A punt by the Pats — a relief after Robert Tonyan was flagged earlier on the same drive for a roughing the kicker penalty on fourth-and-21 — set up a great start to the next Packers drive for Valdes-Scantling, who caught back-to-back passes from Rodgers for 50 yards. However, Aaron Jones coughed up the football across the Patriots’ 30 and New England recovered. They immediately took advantage, using a throwback pass from Julian Edelman to James White to jump-start their offense for a 37-yard gain before White plunged into the end zone for a go-ahead touchdown. After a Packers punt, Tom Brady hit Josh Gordon for a 55-yard touchdown up the right sideline that effectively put the game away at 31-17. The Packers made it to midfield on their final drive of the game, but a pressured Rodgers sailed a pass over Valdes-Scantling’s head on fourth-and-four to effectively end any hopes for a comeback. The Green Bay Packers drafted three wide receivers in the 2018 NFL Draft and all three lived up to the expectations of their selection. The good and bad thing is none of them lived up to where they themselves were taken.J’Mon Moore was drafted in the fourth round and barely saw the field. When he did, he couldn’t catch the ball and was largely ineffective.Marquez Valdes-Scantling was selected in the fifth round and showed some promise and chemistry with Aaron Rodgers but still needs some work. Equanimeous St. Brown was picked in the sixth round and might actually be the most well-rounded and ready player among the three rookies. His play improved as the season went on and he too started to develop chemistry with Rodgers. With Randall Cobb’s status unknown Blake Martinez Jersey , these three along with a healthy Geronimo Allison will be competing for targets behind Davante Adams in 2019.The Packers also could go after a receiver in free agency and the draft as well.Regardless all three will be on the roster at the start of camp, but it will likely be Moore on the bubble more than the other two which is ironic given he was drafted higher than both Valdes-Scantling and St. Brown. It just goes to show that after you’re selected and unless you’re a first round pick, where you’re taken really doesn’t mean much in the fall. You can read more on the rookie receivers’ seasons plus why adding a sworn enemy could make sense for Green Bay in today’s cheese curds.Packers receiver J’Mon Moore makes no excuses for his rookie year—Packers.comGive the rookie credit, he knows he has to play better and blames no one but himself. He’ll be fighting for a job in training camp along with learning a new offense so his odds could be long to make the team.Marquez Valdes-Scantling: New offense puts Packers WRs on equal ground—ESPNMeanwhile, Valdes-Scantling is excited to learn new head coach Matt LaFleur’s offense even though he has yet to see a playbook. He does have a point though and it’s that everyone will be learning at the same time regardless of experience.Packers should target Vikings OLB Anthony Barr in free agency—Packers WireStop rolling your eyes. This could work and I think Rodgers would be OK with it. The team needs immediate help in the pass rush and it could satisfy the football gods or something after Barr broke Rodgers’ collarbone.Packers last remaining NFL team not participating in international series—PackersNews.comIt’s known Packers fans travel very well here in the States, and they’d also probably cherish the chance to go overseas. The guess here is it is probably the opponents’ owners who are hesitant to give up a home game against Green Bay.Wisconsin man takes ax to family car, TV, & laptop after thinking his wife damaged his action figures—The ComebackNo word if the man is 40-years old or a virgin who looks like Steve Carell.

The defending Super Bowl champions are back in the playoff race. The Eagles http://www.lionslockerroom.com/authentic-nick-bellore-jersey , who were left for dead a couple weeks ago, now have a very clear path to the playoff: Win out and they win the NFC East. Of course, that won’t be easy: Their four remaining games are at Dallas, at L.A. Rams, home against the Texans and at Washington. But they at least have a chance, and would probably make the playoffs if they even win three of their last four. Here’s how the playoff picture looks through Week 13:1. Rams (11-1): They have an easy schedule the rest of the way and a good chance of finishing ahead of the Saints in the standings.2. Saints (10-2): Still the favorites to earn a bye week, but now they have an uphill climb to home-field advantage.3. Bears (8-4): The inside track to the No. 3 seed, but the loss to the Giants hurt.4. Cowboys (7-5): All alone in first place in the NFC East.5. Seahawks (7-5): The Seahawks are looking like a likely playoff team, in a season some saw as a rebuilding year.6. Vikings (6-5-1): At Seattle on Monday night is a huge one in the wild card race.7. Panthers (6-6): Carolina is in a tailspin, but the Panthers still own the head-to-head tiebreaker over Philadelphia.8. Eagles (6-6): Sunday’s game in Dallas is enormous: Win and they’re the favorites in the NFC East, lose and they’re almost certainly not making the playoffs.9. Washington (6-6): They once had a big lead in the NFC East, now they’re in third place and have Mark Sanchez at quarterback.10. Buccaneers (5-7): Jameis Winston is finally playing well, but is it too late to save Dirk Koetter’s job?11. Packers (4-7-1): Another loss cost Mike McCarthy his job.12. Falcons (4-8): This season has been a major disappointment.13. Giants (4-8): Playing better, but still stuck in last place in the NFC East.14. Lions (4-8): Matt Patricia has already lost more games this year than Jim Caldwell lost in either of the last two years.15. Cardinals (3-9): Showed some progress by winning in Green Bay.16. 49ers (2-10): The worst team in the NFC. The Detroit Lions were able to get off to a hot start—especially defensively—against their in-division rivals. However, a game-changing play to end the first half seemed to derail the entire team, and the Minnesota Vikings just dominated the second half to defeat the Lions 24-9. Here’s how it all happened. First quarterThe Lions lost the coin toss and that meant their offense was to take the field first. Detroit started the game off by hammering the running game, and it appeared to be working. LeGarrette Blount for 4, Zach Zenner for 5, then Zenner for 29. But Detroit only went backwards from their, working their way out of field position. Punter Sam Martin, however, was able to pin the Vikings at their own 2-yard line. The Lions were able to immediately get a three-and-out, giving the offense good field position to work with. Matthew Stafford hit Kenny Golladay on a crossing route for 21 yards http://www.lionslockerroom.com/authentic-jarrad-davis-jersey , but Detroit, again, failed to do much once in field goal position. They didn’t go backwards, however, so Matt Prater was able to put the Lions up early. 3-0 Lions.Detroit’s defense continued to control the line of scrimmage, as the Vikings went three-and-out again. Quandre Diggs laid the boom on a curious third-and-6 draw play from the Vikings.Once again, the Lions offense successfully worked their way into Vikings territory. Once again, questionable play calling an execution caused Detroit to move out of field goal position. Facing a third-and-13 at the Vikings 33-yard line, Detroit opted to run a safe draw play... except it lost yards and pushed Detroit out of field goal position. But, again, the Lions defense forced a three-and-out, this time thanks got a Damon Harrison tackle for loss and a Nevin Lawson sack on third down. At the end of the first quarter, the Lions had the yardage advantage 90-4, but only led by three points.Second quarterThe second quarter got off to a good start for Detroit, as the Vikings ensuing punt went just 29 yards, giving the Lions offense great field position—at Minnesota’s 38-yard line. The Lions offense was able to pick up one first down, but nothing more. Prater knocked through another to push the Lions’ lead to six early in the second quarter. 6-0 Lions. Detroit’s defense forced a FOURTH STRAIGHT three-and-out on the next possession. This time, Romeo Okwara came up big with a third-down sack. Detroit’s defense was just absolutely dominating: Back-to-back passes to TJ Jones and Golladay for 12 and 16 yards respectively got Detroit onto the Vikings’ side of the field again. But, again, Detroit couldn’t muster much once getting into field goal position. Prater was true, this time, from 48. 9-0 Lions. But the defensive floodgates would not hold forever. The Vikings not only got their first first down on the next drive, but they would find the end zone. On a key third-and-long Eli Harold Jersey White , Kirk Cousins drew Darius Slay away from his zone commitment, and found Adam Thielen for a 40-yard play. Slay was injured on the play after delivering a big hit, and Cousins would pick on Marcus Cooper Sr. for a touchdown a few plays later. 9-7 Lions. Thanks to smart timeout usage, the Lions offense had a great opportunity to get more points on the board before the half, but the offense couldn’t muster up any points. Unfortunately, the Lions offense got off the field so quickly that they allowed the Vikes an opportunity to score. Then this happened:14-9 Vikings.Third quarterThe Vikings started with the ball, and suddenly their offense had life. Minnesota was able to run the ball effectively for the majority of the drive, but Detroit’s defense held up strong in the red zone. Vikings kicker Dan Bailey avoided the Audible Dong on the 24-yard field goal attempt, and pushed Minnesota’s lead to 17-9. The Lions offense responded with a quick three-and-out, giving the Vikings a chance to extend their lead to two possessions, but Detroit’s defense forced a speedy three-and-out of their own. However, Detroit gave the ball quickly back after Matthew Stafford was sacked for the first time in the game on third down.Fourth QuarterThis time, the Vikings offense took advantage of the good field position and pushed the score to two possession. Detroit’s defense looked gassed and couldn’t get a stop, as Cousins ended up finding Kyle Rudolph for his second touchdown of the game. 24-9 Vikings.Detroit’s offense had a couple of chances to respond, but couldn’t get anything going. Eventually they would turn it over on downs deep in their own territory, giving the Vikings an easy field goal to extend their lead to three scores. 27-9 Vikings.Matt Cassel came in the game late to go four-and-out on his own, ending any distant hope of a miraculous comeback. The loss drops the Lions to 5-10. This is the first season since 2012 that the Lions have suffered double-digit losses and only the second time during the Matthew Stafford era when he has played in at least 11 games. The Vikings, on the other hand, hold onto their six-seed in the playoff race, but the Eagles remain hot on their heels. PregameIf you’re here, it either means you’re going to make a snarky comment about watching the Detroit Lions game inebriated, or you’re a Minnesota Vikings fan, or you’re someone interested in the NFC Wild Card Race http://www.lionslockerroom.com/authentic-frank-ragnow-jersey , or you’re a Lions fans going down on the sinking ship.At 5-9, the Lions’ playoff hopes are gone, as are their hopes to finishing .500 or above. The only thing left is to play spoiler, and boy could they be a big spoil this week. The 7-6-1 Vikings are clinging to the last playoff spot, just above the 7-7 Eagles and 7-7 Washington team. To stay ahead of both teams, the Vikings desperately need a win, especially with an incoming game against the Chicago Bears next week. Unfortunately for Detroit, they’re pretty beat up this week, and they haven’t had a ton of success against this Vikings defense recently. Detroit hasn’t scored more than 20 points in five weeks, and the last time they faced off, Detroit was held to just nine points. So if you’re interested in watching that kind of matchup, here’s how to do it!How to watch Lions-VikingsDate: Sunday, December 23, 2018Time: 1 p.m. ETLocation: Ford Field — Detroit, MITV: FOX Week 16 TV Map: Courtesy of 506 Sports hereAnnouncers: Chris Myers, Daryl Johnston, Laura OkminOnline streaming: Fox Sports Go, Yahoo Sports appLocal radio: WJR-AM NEWS TALK 760Radio announcers: Dan Miller, Lomas BrownOdds: Vikings by 7

After initially saying he hadn’t done any such thing, Mayfield is now owning up to it — and telling anyone who doesn’t like it that’s too bad.“You’re supposed to play with emotion,” Mayfield said. “You’re supposed to play with passion. Quite honestly http://www.thebengalslockerroom.com/authentic-billy-price-jersey , if you don’t like it, whatever. Football’s not meant to be a soft game. I could care less.”Mayfield has made no secret of the fact that he doesn’t care much for Jackson, his first NFL head coach, who was fired midway through this season. After the first Bengals-Browns game Mayfield avoided Jackson’s attempt at a hug, and now we have Mayfield saying he doesn’t much care if people don’t like his staredown of his former coach. What’s more important is that Mayfield has emerged as an excellent quarterback in the half-season since Jackson was fired. He has a bright future, and so do the Browns. That’s something that could never be said about them when Jackson was their coach.

At least not yet.A Packers fan who owns Bears season tickets has been denied the right to wear green and gold on the sidelines at Sunday’s game between the NFC North rivals, as part of a promotion for season-ticket holders. Russell Beckman, who filed after being denied the right to wear Packers gear during 2016, failed in his effort to secure a preliminary injunction allowing him to support the team as he sees fit, while the lawsuit proceeds. He hasn’t lost the case; instead Marcedes Lewis Jersey , the judge found that he wasn’t entitled to a change in the status quo until the case is resolved in his favor, if it ever is resolved in his favor.“The Judge today said the parties鈥?arguments to the Court were essentially a tie ball,” attorney Michael R. Lieber said in a statement. “But a tie ball goes to the home team at this juncture. This case is in its early stages. As we proceed through discovery, we expect that the facts will show that the Bears are so entwined with a public entity — the Chicago Park District — that the Bears must uphold all Soldier Field patrons鈥?First Amendment rights. And that includes fans of opposing teams.”Judge Joan B. Gottschall issued a 21-page ruling explaining the decision. She found that Beckman “made a fairly modest showing that he is likely to succeed in demonstrating that the Bears” are subject to the First Amendment as a state entity. Based on the various factors that determine whether a party can secure what essentially is an advance on a victory before actually winning in court, she decided that Beckman must wait while the wheels of justice continue to churn. The fact that he’s gotten this far is already a win. Judge Gottschall already has rejected an effort by the Bears to dismiss the case entirely. The case will now proceed, and Beckman will have to leave his cheesehead in the car, if he wants to have access to the sideline.

The 2019 NFL schedule is almost here!"The NFL schedule is set to be released Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET Womens Barry Sanders Jersey , as announced on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” program. Last week, the NFL announced the preseason schedule. For the Detroit Lions, that means four exhibition games against the Patriots, Texans, Bills and Browns. As for the regular season schedule, we already know who the Lions will be playing, just not when they’ll be playing them. At this point, we know Detroit has home games against the Bears, Packers, Vikings, Cowboys, Giants, Chiefs Womens Levine Toilolo Jersey , Chargers, and Buccaneers. In 2019, they’ll travel to play the Bears, Packers, Vikings, Washington, Raiders, Eagles, Broncos and Cardinals. However, we still don’t know how many nationally televised games they’ll have, including Sunday Night, Monday Night or Thursday Night games. It will also be important to note when they play some of their outdoor away games. Unlike last year, Detroit will be playing outdoors a lot on the road Eli Harold Jersey , and the weather could play a factor in places like Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Denver, Chicago and, of course, Green Bay. ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — In firing him after the 2017 season, the Detroit Lions indicated the Jim Caldwell era was just not good enough. But meaningless December football is back in Detroit again as first-year coach Matt Patricia’s Lions will play out the string with four games with nothing at stake but draft position remain. The Lions are 4-8 and all but mathematically eliminated from the NFC playoff race. Road games at Arizona and Buffalo are next before Detroit finishes with divisional games at home against Minnesota and at Green Bay.After Sunday’s 30-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Detroit has to win out to finish better than Caldwell’s worst of four seasons as coach. After three winning seasons and two playoff berths under Caldwell, the Lions will be .500-or-below for the 13th time in the past 14 non-Caldwell coached seasons.A lot of things have changed in Matthew Stafford’s 10 seasons with the Lions, but the franchise is back in the losing position he grew accustomed to in the first half of his career.“I come to work every day, work my tail off, try to push our team to be as good as we can be T.J. Jones Jersey White ,” Stafford said Sunday after his fumble on an Aaron Donald sack ended a chance for the Lions to take their first lead in the fourth quarter.“There was some good in this game, there was some bad. We’ve got to fix the bad and keep doing a lot of the good. But I’m going to come to work ready to go.”Public reflection is rare during an NFL season, especially under Patricia, who was groomed under Bill Belichick in New England.“For me, it’s been pretty much the same from all the way through,” Patricia said Monday. “I don’t know what the team’s been previous, I don’t know what it’s been before I got here. I’m just trying to make sure we build from where we’re at.”Injuries have decimated Stafford’s skill position options, as wide receiver Marvin Jones (knee) is out for the season and running back Kerryon Johnson (knee) missed his second straight game Sunday. Wide receiver Golden Tate was leading the Lions in receptions for the fifth straight season when he was traded to Philadelphia on Oct. 30.After watching film Monday, defensive tackle Damon Harrison, acquired Oct. 25 in a trade from the New York Giants, said he saw positives from Sunday’s defensive effort.“There was a lot more good than bad, we actually played a pretty good game, the score wasn’t a great indication of how close that game was Womens Darius Slay Jersey ,” Harrison said after the Lions trailed 16-13 heading into the fourth quarter against a Super Bowl contender. “It was encouraging to see everybody take the technique and the coaching and bring it into Sunday.”The Lions did have a win on Monday though.Offensive lineman Taylor Decker scored his first touchdown of his football career on Sunday, faking a block but releasing into a wide-open space of the Rams’ defense for an 11-yard touchdown. In his euphoria, Decker threw the ball into the stands. Later, on Twitter, Decker put out a plea to relieve the keepsake.“To whoever caught/has the ball I threw into the stands,” his tweet Sunday night began, “I’ve played football since first grade, and that was my first ever touchdown. I’d love to have the ball, and would be more than happy to hook you up if you’d be willing. #defendtheden #bigmantouchdown”The story had a happy ending, with Decker tweeting Monday morning that the case was solved.Decker tweeted: “I HAVE FOUND HIM!!!!!!! AND HE IS BEING GREAT ABOUT IT #socialmediastrikesagain”It’s the kind of karma that his team could use.“We need to keep pushing that forward and we need to go out and play better and we need to go out and win,” Patricia said. “We want to put it together the best we can, go out there and go play a really good ballgame. That would probably be the best thing for us.”

Kevin Huber Jersey White

You can say the Bengals’ problems started with Marvin Lewis (or more specifically Mike Brown) http://www.thebengalslockerroom.com/authentic-c.j.-uzomah-jersey , but their issues went beyond their head coach of 16 seasons. There’s no better time for the organization known for its conservatism and love of continuity to continue deviating miles from their modus operandi than right now, and it appears they’re taking this advice.Under Lewis, the Bengals have dealt with plenty offseason transitions, but none will be quite like the one they’re about to undergo. The Bengals have changed their offensive coordinator three times, defensive coordinators four times, and have drafted a quarterback in the first two rounds just twice in Lewis’ 16-year tenure. It’s possible that they do all three within the next four months, perhaps with the exception of drafting a quarterback — but they shouldn’t eliminate that possibility like they did for the last two years. For so long, familiar faces have populated the locker room and sidelines of Paul Brown Stadium along with Lewis. They’ve shared his successes, failures and everything in between with him. But with Lewis’ departure finally coming to fruition, some — if not most — of those players and coaches need to suffer the same fate if the Bengals want to truly move forward. This process has been a few years in the making, but the dial needs to be turned to 11 over the course of the next several weeks. Starting with the coaches, offensive coordinator Bill Lazor has shown his play-calling abilities rest somewhere between Ken Zampese and Jay Gruden. On a roster that oozes offensive talent and depth, he can produce competent results, but the team can do much better than him. Lazor has been interviewed for the head coaching gig as an in-house candidate, but he wasn’t the only one.Hue Jackson, perhaps more than anybody in this article, needs to be following Lewis out of the door. Jackson will also be interviewed for Lewis’ job, but he proved that he is not capable of leading an NFL franchise. Jackson and Lewis are obviously close friends, but Cincinnati would be best to part ways with him for good right now Womens Kevin Huber Jersey , while Jackson’s one connection has been terminated. Special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons is the third and final in-house interviewee and could prove to showcase his leadership skills with increased power, but they need to be thinking bigger. Simmons can keep his job though, no one would complain about that. But would he be able to do so under a brand new management? An out-of-house hiring no only needs to happen in Cincinnati, but he needs to be given the same power Lewis has accumulated for so many years. If the choice comes between promoting an assistant under Lewis and bringing in a new face that would likely purge the remaining staff for his own preferred coaches, then there isn’t a choice at all.Of course, the coaches shouldn’t be the only ones worried.Lewis was a player’s coach, there’s no denying that. Throughout the years he’s developed countless close relationships with players that he watched grow up before his own eyes. A good number of those players have established long careers in Cincinnati, or seemed to find their way back to Lewis’ Bengals after previously leaving. Sometimes this was an advantage to the team, other times it was a detriment. The vast majority of those players that have overstayed their welcome or received one-too many contracts to come back are gone or retired now, but there remains some notable players that could still play for the new coach in 2019. The defense is where we’ll find most of these players.10-year veteran Michael Johnson has played more games under Lewis than any other current Bengal (aside from specialists Kevin Huber and Clark Harris) and will become a free agent once more in 2019. He has developed into a quality defensive end, but his days of playing are winding down rapidly. He deserves all the respect in the world, but it’s time to move on for good. The linebacker position could see a mass exodus this offseason as well, and rightfully so. Vincent Rey hasn’t the number of career starts as Johnson, but should be equally respected for the way he’s composed himself. Hardy Nickerson, the son of a former player who played under Lewis back in the 90s, isn’t good enough to warrant a roster spot and like Jackson, he has no pull now that Lewis is gone.Vontaze Burfict of course is the primary focal point of this group, and his connection with Lewis cannot be understated. Burfict’s antics were tolerated under Lewis’ reign, but would they under a different coach? Even beyond his extra-curricular activities Kevin Huber Jersey White , Burfict’s concussions are the more pressing issues for him and they may just be enough to prohibit him from playing under his pricey contract, at least that’s how the new coach could look at it.Then, there’s Andy Dalton. The new coach will have a huge impact on the Bengals’ potential progression, but Dalton is still Dalton, and they’ll ultimately go as far as he takes them. There’s no need to deny the fact that Dalton has earned respect as an NFL starter, just like his clear limitations are just as obvious. The eight-year veteran will turn 32 next season, and over the past several years, he’s exemplified the threshold between a franchise quarterback, and a replaceable starter. When all the pieces were in place, Dalton performed well; when some pieces were taken out, he struggled accordingly. A new coach who doesn’t inherit a quarterback with multiple years left on his rookie contract will typically try to bring in one of his own sooner rather than later. Dalton’s contract doesn’t expire until the conclusion of the 2020 season, but he can now be cut without any cap penalties. Without a true heir on the roster (Jeff Driskel ain’t it), it’s more likely that the team will plan on keeping Dalton for as long as he’s the best option at the position. But that shouldn’t be for long. Is he safe for now? Yes. But as soon as the new coach gets settled in with his staff, he should be looking at future replacements immediately. No longer should the Bengals be solely focused on building around Dalton, they need to be thinking about the future beyond him. From a macro-perspective, the Bengals have a handful of foundation pieces that will help the transition to leadership. But the franchise will not be able to completely move on from the Marvin Lewis era until the numerous names that have long been associated with him are out of the picture. The Bengals’ organization needs a fresh start, not a re-tool — and they can’t do the latter anymore with Lewis gone.Film Room: Bengals tight ends play multiple roles in win vs. Colts The Cincinnati Bengals shook things up a bit this preseason releasing long time h-back Ryan Hewitt and keeping four tight ends on their roster. Although tight end Mason Schreck was impressive in the preseason, many thought that he would be the odd man out. When he did make it, it was assumed that it was due to the threat of Tyler Eifert getting injured. In the Bengals’ Week 1 game against the Indianapolis Colts http://www.thebengalslockerroom.com/authentic-preston-brown-jersey , they used Eifert, Tyler Kroft, and C.J. Uzomah heavily and showed how they will deal with the absence of Hewitt. While Eifert is the star of the group and Kroft was the starter most of last season it was Uzomah who played the most snaps against the Colts, likely due to his versatility. In the first clip, Uzomah is lined up in the natural tight end position to the left of the formation. Eifert lined up at fullback offset to the twins. As the play action occurs, the linebackers to the twins side look to fill, and Eifert sneaks right by them and is wide open.In this clip, both Kroft and Uzomah are on the field, but neither is lined up as a true tight end. Uzomah is lined up in the slot at the top of the screen and Kroft is lined up in an h-back position on the bottom of the screen. The Bengals run a bootleg with Uzomah running the deep crosser and Kroft blocking down on the defensive end before releasing to the flat.On this play, Uzomah is lined up as an attached tight end on the right side of the formation. He catches the ball on a quick out route. Here, Uzomah is lined up as the slot receiver on the right side of the formation. Running back Joe Mixon motions out to the right and the quarterback Andy Dalton throws him a quick screen. Uzomah provides a bigger and stronger blocker in front of him. On this goal-line play, Uzomah lines up at tight end on the right side of the formation. Offensive tackle Jake Fisher lines up at tight end on the left side, and Kroft lines up at the h-back off of his shoulder. Rookie defensive lineman Sam Hubbard is lined up at fullback. He leads the way for Mixon on the touchdown run. The Bengals load up the right side of the formation on this play with Kroft at tight end on the line of scrimmage, Uzomah at h-back outside of him, and Eifert lined up outside of Uzomah. Both Uzomah and Eifert are lined up tight like h-backs but in staggered stances like wide receivers. Their alignment puts them in a position to contribute as a blocker in the run game, and their stances allows them to get a quick release in the pass game. This is a pass play and both get quickly into their routes.Kroft lines up at tight end on the right side with Uzomah outside of him in the h-back position. Running back Tra Carson lines up in front of Mixon in the I-formation. Right guard Alex Redmond pulls around and kicks out. Center Billy Price also pulls and leads up the hole along with Carson. The Bengals have a plethora of tight ends who can contribute in multiple ways. In Week 1, they showed that they can use multiple players at the position; using the strengths of each to put them in a position to succeed.

2018 Houston Texans Training Camp: Four Practices Open To Public Jeremy had a link in today’s Newswire Vyncint Smith Jersey , but I wanted to make sure this got its own post.Your Houston Texans announced they’ll open four (4) of their training camp practices to the public. Those open practice dates are:Saturday, August 11thMonday, August 13thWednesday, August 15thThursday Jordan Thomas Jersey , August 16thEach of the open practices will start at 9:15 a.m. CDT.Gates will open to fans at 8:15 a.m., but the parking lots will open at 5 a.m. should you want to tailgate.Unlike years past, where the tickets were made available through Tickemaster online on a first come, first serve basis Brandon Dunn Jersey , the Texans are now asking fans to register here between now and 5 p.m. CDT on Friday (July 27th); the team will then notify fans via e-mail whether they actually got tickets.Looks like each registrant will be limited to two (2) tickets per practice, so the days of grabbing eight of them for your buddies are over.Best of luck to everyone who tries to get training camp passes. The NFL trade deadline is today. Rosters are locked at 3 p.m. CDT. What was once quiet may now be raucous after the Eagles traded mid-round selections for veterans who contributed to last year’s Super Bowl run.Teverchanging and forever rising salary cap, along with the correct analysis by bad teams to horde draft picks to get as many shots at the wheel as possible, could also lead to deals before this afternoon’s deadline. Some trades have already been made. Eli Apple was sent to the New Orleans Saints. Damon Harrison was sent to the Detroit Lions. Amari Cooper was sent to the Dallas Cowboys. And the rumors continue to grow. The Texans and Patriots are reportedly sniffing around Demaryius Thomas. The Lions are getting phone calls about Golden Tate. The Raiders want a late round pick for Bruce Irvin (good luck with that). The Texans should pick up as many rocks as possible and look underneath. An outside receiver and a defensive back are the obvious positions Houston should look to address. With an additional second round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft thanks to last year’s trade of Duane Brown Tytus Howard Houston Texans Jersey , and soooooo much cap space next year, the Texans can offer more than what most teams will be able to stomach giving away. Opportunities are there if Brian Gaine feels like this team is X away from being more than a divisional round playoff snack. Between now and then, this is a way to track the goings-on leading up to today’s deadline. Post rumors, tweets Tytus Howard Jersey 2019 , #sources, and whatever in the comments below as we all follow the news throughout the day.UPDATE:The Texans are trying to make some noise, as Ian Rapoport says a deal to bring Demaryius Thomas to NRG Park is close.UPDATE II:The Texans have acquired Demaryius Thomas from the Broncos for a fourth-round pick and a swap of seventh-round picks.WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

In Mike Pettine’s first year as the Packers’ defensive coordinator Jamaal Williams Jersey , the unit improved significantly. He believes that same thing will happen in year two.鈥淭ake a big jump,鈥?Pettine recently said regarding his plans for the coming season, via Ryan Wood of the .鈥淲e spent a lot of time last year with having to shuffle in a lot of different players,鈥?Pettine added. 鈥淚n year one of a system, it鈥檚 really hard to get into the graduate-level details of the job. So kind of going through the end-of-year cutups, and you come to the realization we spent so much more time last year on coaching players on what to do and not enough time on how to do it, and that鈥檚 usually typical of a year one. . . .聽We鈥檙e looking forward to having guys that are experienced in the system. We have a much better sense of who we are and what our skill set is, what we want to get done. . . .鈥淭he nice thing is you don鈥檛 reset it back to year one. You have a little bit of momentum, and you鈥檝e built a pretty solid foundation with the guys you鈥檙e going to have back.鈥漀ew outside linebackers coach Mike Smith Kenny Clark Jersey , who replaces Winston Moss, believes in what Pettine can do.“Mike is one of the smartest guys I鈥檝e ever been around,鈥?Smith said. 鈥淢ike can break down an offense, and he鈥檚 going to put guys in position to be successful. He鈥檚 going to give you different looks, different simulators, all kinds of coverages. It might sound like a lot, but it鈥檚 simple to learn. That鈥檚 why I鈥檝e been very fortunate to be with him from the beginning. . . .聽Mike, his look at things is pretty freaky, the things that he can come up with and break down an offense.鈥漌ith so much focus on improving the offense in Green Bay Justin McCray Jersey , the prospect of the defense improving from its 2018 ranking of No. 12 (the unit finished 23rd in 2017) bodes well for a team that could quickly get back in the mix for a playoff berth in 2019. Tiger Woods and Aaron Rodgers have something in common: They’re back. After injuring his knee (are we even sure to this moment exactly what the injury is?) against the Chicago Bears, Rodgers hasn’t been able to practice regularly during the week as he rehabs. The last two weeks, he only practiced Saturday during the Green Bay Packers’ traditional light session in final preparation for the game. Rodgers practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, but even that is a step in the right direction. Mike McCarthy spoke of the importance of having Rodgers at practice on Wednesday, so perhaps it’s no surprise to see QB1 on the practice field the very next day.Off-target throws, drops, and missed opportunities marred Green Bay’s Week 3 tilt with Washington, but the offense appeared to be close to breaking out. As McCarthy noted this week, it’s hard for an offense to get into a rhythm when its quarterback isn’t practicing. There’s no opportunity for growth. It’s fair to point to that lack of practice reps and wonder if it has affected the cohesion of this offense. McCarthy said it best when he pointed out if they didn’t think practice was important Preston Smith Jersey , they wouldn’t practice. So while Rodgers can play, and play well without practice, it’s not as helpful to the team as if he were out there. Getting Rodgers back not only portends well for his injured knee, but potentially for this offense. Having him back in the mix for practice should help this offense get in a groove for a much-needed get right game against the Bills in Week 4.Here’s a look at the Packers’ full injury report on Thursday, which included one new name: Randall Cobb, who was limited with a hamstring issue. Meanwhile, two other players were upgraded from non-participants on Wednesday to limited participants on Thursday.Packers Thursday Injury ReportDid Not ParticipateG Justin McCray (shoulder)OLB Nick Perry (concussion)DL Muhammad Wilkerson (ankle)Limited ParticipationOT Bryan Bulaga (back)WR Randall Cobb (hamstring - was not listed on Wednesday)TE Jimmy Graham (knee - upgraded from DNP on Wednesday)S Josh Jones (ankle)CB Kevin King (groin - upgraded from DNP on Wednesday)QB Aaron Rodgers (ankle - upgraded from DNP on Wednesday)

Packers-Titans Fantasy Reaction: Adams & MVS trend up Preston Smith Jersey , Montgomery trends down The Green Bay Packers got their first taste of preseason action Thursday against the Tennessee Titans and while Aaron Rodgers, Jimmy Graham and Randall Cobb sat out, there was still plenty of fantasy implications to look at. With a mixed bag of starters and reserves, the preseason games can be a critical time for a player’s stock to rise or fall. Also, with only one cut down from a 90 to a 53-man roster, every play counts.Keep in mind that after one preseason game, someone’s stock rising doesn’t mean you should add them to your big board and vice versa.Stock UpDavante Adams, WRDavante Adams is going to be a WR1 you definitely want this year. He has the most chemistry with Aaron Rodgers of any pass catchers on the roster and on Thursday night, he proved the NFL isn’t ready for how good he’s going to be. He only played during the first quarter Aaron Rodgers Jersey , but the deep ball he reeled in along the left sideline over Malcolm Butler looked purely effortless, from the route through the catch. His current average draft position puts him as the sixth WR to be taken in fantasy, leaving Antonio Brown, DeAndre Hopkins, Odell Beckham Jr., Julio Jones and Michael Thomas ahead of him. I’m not sure I like Jones and Thomas ahead of him. Time will tell.Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WRMVS finished with five catches, 101 yards, and a TD which is an exciting stat line Clay Matthews Jersey , even in a preseason game. He looked like he was going to leave scorch marks on the grass. The Packers drafted him as an option to help stretch the field and he was also returning kicks to the tune of 20 yards a pop. He looked controlled while hauling in a 51-yard bomb and didn’t over run the ball which was nice to see. Not long after that, Valdes-Scantling caught a 15-yard touchdown while the defenders arm was still tangled up between his own. It’s tough not to overreact, but this good be a great stepping stone for MVS to build on. Jamaal Williams, RBAaron Jones is out for the first two games of the regular season with a suspension, so that left Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery in the race to earn the starting spot for Week 1. During this preseason game against Tennessee, it looked fairly evident that Williams was going to be the guy. He outpaced Montgomery in touches and remained a factor in the passing game, scoring on a nifty eight-yard TD reception. Running largely behind a backup offensive line, Williams had a tough time finding big holes to run through. Hopefully this improves.Stock DownTy Montgomery, RBThis goes without saying since I have Williams’ stock up Mike Daniels Jersey , but I’m going to say it anyway. Montgomery didn’t get a whole lot of rushing opportunities and had zero catches on two targets. I thought he might see more time as a pass-catching option — considering he used to be a wide out — but the Packers were more preoccupied with their young receivers getting targets. Montgomery outpaced Williams in snap count 29 to 13, but his highlight of the night was in pass protection and really sticking a blitzing linebacker.J’Mon Moore, WRMoore was the first receiver taken by the Packers in the 2018 draft, but he didn’t stand out in this game. He was targeted seven times, but only brought in three of those targets for 27 yards. There were a few times in which Moore was in a good position to make a play on the ball, but just wasn’t able to get it done. It’s only one preseason game and it very well could’ve been jitters. We’ll keep an eye on him. DeAngelo Yancey, WRYancey is in his second year and spent last season on the practice squad. He’s someone who needs to have a big offseason and produce in both preseason games and during practice. This game wasn’t a big showcase for him (two catches on five targets for 10 yards), so if you’re big on Yancey, you need to hope that he continues to make strides in practice.Packers DL Muhammad Wilkerson likely done for season with ankle injury Jaire Alexander Jersey , per report Of the multiple injuries suffered by Green Bay Packers on Sunday, none appeared more serious than that to defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson’s. Packers head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed those suspensions, called the injury “significant” during his Monday press conference. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport added that Wilkerson underwent surgery last night and will likely miss the rest of the 2018 season. One of the Packers’ biggest free-agent signings of the offseason, Wilkerson decided to sign with Green Bay in part due to the presence of new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine. The two worked together early in Wilkerson’s career with the New York Jets, and the defensive lineman hoped to reinvigorate his career after a disappointing 2017 campaign.Instead, Wilkerson appears likely to enter next offseason facing even more uncertainty. He turns 29 in October and has seen his pressure and sack totals decline each of the last three seasons. At best, another prove-it deal awaits him in free agency. With Wilkerson out, the Packers will turn to third-year defensive lineman Dean Lowry and former third-round pick Montravius Adams. Lowry has seen the most work of the two, receiving 24 snaps during Sunday’s tilt at Washington and 57 total since the start of the season. Adams Josh Jackson Jersey , meanwhile, hasn’t seen more than six snaps from scrimmage in any game this season, though that projects to increase with Wilkerson’s absence.

Good news Michael Roberts Jersey , Chicago Bears: You’ve played well enough to get a spot in prime-time.Bad news, Bears: You’ll be playing both in the late spot on the Sunday before Thanksgiving and then in the early spot on Thanksgiving. The NFL’s decision to move the Week 11 Vikings-Bears game into prime time is a bit of a surprise, given that the NFL is keenly aware of concerns about playing on Sunday night and then on Thursday. Two years ago, Washington played on the Sunday night before Thanksgiving before facing the Cowboys in the late-afternoon Thanksgiving game.鈥淭hat鈥檚 tough, and we鈥檒l have to look at that,鈥?NFL executive V.P. of football operations Troy Vincent said at the time. 鈥淚deally, that鈥檚 not something that we would like to have.鈥滲ut that’s exactly what they have, with the Bears playing on Sunday night and then landing in the early game on Thursday, on the road in Detroit. It’s a delicate balance for the league to strike. On one hand, the NFL wants the best possible games to be played in prime time. On the other hand Taylor Decker Jersey , the Bears will have roughly 84 from the end of a black-and-blue division date with the Vikings and a tanks-fer-nuttin Thanksgiving kickoff in Detroit.Lions vs. Jets bold prediction of the week: Detroit’s defense makes a stand Regular season football is back, and that means with meaningful football, we have a meaningful bold prediction of the week. Part of a season-long series, it will be exactly as the title indicates: one hot take every week about what will unfold on Sunday (or in this case, Thursday). Before this week’s prediction however, let’s look back on the preseason.Preseason recapWeek 1: Miles Killebrew sees playing time early and often vs. the Oakland RaidersThis prediction came partially true. With Killebrew making the switch to linebacker only a couple days before the game, it was up in the air how much he would play there, if at all. In this case, Killebrew didn’t play early, but saw significant time in the latter parts of the game at his new position. Result: Half-correctWeek 2: Jake Rudock show comes to town vs. the New York GiantsWith Matt Cassel decidedly performing better than Rudock in joint practices against the Giants Graham Glasgow Jersey , things were not looking good for the Lions’ former backup quarterback. I predicted that he would get a last-ditch look with the first team, essentially the coaches giving him a do-or-die situation if he wanted to show that the backup quarterback spot was still a competition. This came true to a tee, as Rudock took over for Matthew Stafford in the second quarter and played until the late third. Result: CorrectWeek 3: Eli Harold starts on defense vs. the Tampa Bay BuccaneersIn this case, the Lions traded for Harold the evening before their matchup against Tampa Bay. After seeing the previous week’s bold prediction come true to a tee, I decided to up the stakes in Week 3 and anticipate that Harold would suit up in a condensed role against the Bucs. Unfortunately my boldness was too much, as Harold wouldn’t see action until the following week. Result: IncorrectWeek 4: Billingsley, Powell make last ditch efforts to stick to the rosterSpecifically, I predicted that each would put up two touchdowns and give life to the offense in their final preseason showing. That didn’t happen, and they actually got off to a rough start, but things took a turn for the better in the latter half of the game and they did enough for Powell to land a spot on the Lions’ 53-man roster and Billingsley to find a spot on the New England Patriots’ practice squad. I’ll take that.Result: Half-correctNow Danny Amendola Jersey , for this week’s bold prediction. Bold prediction of the week: Marquis Flowers-led Lions defense holds Jets offense to less than 100 rushing yardsThe Lions defense was Swiss cheese against the run all preseason long. That’s not to say the pass defense was much better, but the run defense was particularly abysmal. The defense progressively got worse throughout the preseason against the run, giving up 88, 96, 122 and 163 yards each week, respectively. As a whole, opposing running backs averaged just over 4.3 yards per carry against the Lions per The Football Database. The coaching staff was not happy with the talent they had on defense, and it showed when it came time for roster cuts. The Lions originally kept 10 offensive linemen, six wide receivers and five running backs, all the while leaving out defensive players many expected to make the team Trey Flowers Jersey , especially along the defensive line. The Lions have since gone hunting for defensive talent on the waiver wire and held numerous tryouts to replace the excessive bodies on offense. For a long time now it has been clear that just like in New England, the defense will face a steep learning curve when it comes to Matt Patricia’s scheme. I have way too much faith in Marquis Flowers, who was a staple of Patricia’s defense in New England and is now with the Lions after getting claimed off waivers. I’m saying a prayer that his experience with the scheme translates immediately to the Lions defense, and he brings some life to the abysmal front seven. If that can happen, then I think the Lions defense immediately takes a big step forward and he becomes just as important to the Lions as he was to New England with Patricia, leading the Lions to hold the Jets to less than 100 yards rushing on “Monday Night Football.” How do you think things will unfold Monday night? Let us know in the comments.

Jonah Williams Cincinnati Bengals Jersey

The Bengals defense hasn’t been very good this season. Sure Anthony Munoz Jersey , they have come up with turnovers when the game needed them most (sometimes), but there is no denying that Cincinnati has one of the worst defenses in the NFL. Despite this, defensive coordinator Teryl Austin defends his unit’s performance by looking at the team’s 5-3 record. The Bengals defense is banged up, sure, but there is still more than enough talent on that side of field to be better then they’ve been this season. Austin’s comments would be like the dumb kid in class saying, “I may have gotten an F, but we averaged a C as a whole class.” Going into a bye week Preston Brown Jersey , it is just extremely frustrating to hear comments like these. Especially after the last two weeks when the defense has been one of the worst in the NFL, giving up more than 500 yards in back-to-back games. That is down right terrible. The Bengals are lucky to be 1-1 and not 0-2 after those two games. Many, including Austin, will point to the four turnovers against the Bucs as a reason to believe in the unit, but it isn’t that impressive when you realize that Winston has been downright awful since returning from his three game suspension. By the way, he is now tied for first in the NFL in interceptions (10) despite missing the first three games of the season. You could tell (by the way) that Ryan Fitzpatrick came in and made quick work of the Bengals defense and the Bengals lucked out by having Winston play most of the contest. If you go back and look at most of the interceptions, they came off wildly inaccurate throws that most NFL quarterbacks don’t make. You could also go back to Austin’s ill-advised decision to blitz everyone and go man-to-man when the Steelers just entered field goal range for a possible game-winning field goal back in Week 6. Of course as soon as the Bengals showed the pressure was coming Cordy Glenn Jersey , Ben Roethlisberger audibled to a pick play to get Antonio Brown a free run to the middle of the field and a game-winning touchdown. Now some of you might say that is just nit picking, but you can look at the numbers. Through Week 8 of the season, the Bengals are 29th in scoring defense, 26th against the run and dead last against the pass and in total yards allowed per game. That is a terrible defense no matter how you slice it.Even when you look at where they rank as far as turnovers, it doesn’t really excuse just how bad the defense has been as a whole. The Bengals have forced 14 turnovers in eight games, which has them tied for ninth in the NFL. That sounds good, but 18 teams have at least 11 turnovers this season. Also four of the 13 teams with as many turnovers as the Bengals have already had their bye week Randy Bullock Jersey , which means they’ve had one less game to improve that number than Cincinnati.Changes were promised this offseason when the Bengals hired Austin. He promised to utilize his players’ strengths, but even that’s been a stretch. He only just started having his cornerbacks travel with certain receivers after the Chiefs would line up whoever they wanted to get the ball in the slot due to Darqueze Dennard’s absence. The NFL knows, the Bengals have no one who can cover the intermediate middle of the field. It’s baffling to see the linebackers in coverage. Mind you, none of them have been advertised as coverage linebackers, but at this point we have to blame the Bengals’ organization more than Austin for that as they’ve done nothing to effectively improve that aspect of the linebacker position. The linebackers either end up just standing in a zone waiting for someone to catch a pass in front of them, or all of them play with shallow depth and are unaware of the routes behind them. There is plenty wrong with how this defense has been run this season. You can divide blame between personnel, injuries and coaching. But Austin’s comments are downright disrespectful to our intelligence as a fan base.NFL Week 3: Bengals vs. Panthers The Cincinnati Bengals are Carolina Panthers are set to kick off in a key interconference for both squads. A win today for the Bengals keeps them all alone atop the AFC North Jonah Williams Cincinnati Bengals Jersey , while a Panthers win could tie them for the division lead in the NFC South. But really, the records are what matter. A win and a 3-0 start for the Bengals further increases their odds of making it to the playoffs for the first time since the 2015 season, while a Carolina loss would drop them to 1-2, a tough start to come back from and make the postseason. It’s early in the season, but this game could pay huge dividends when December rolls around, not to mention keep the Bengals’ positive momentum going after disastrous 2016 and ‘17 season. Here’s a refresher on how to watch and follow today’s action:How to Watch Carolina Panthers vs. Cincinnati BengalsGame Time: 1:00 p.m. EST Where: Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina Online Stream: CBS All Access and Fubo TVTV Broadcast: The game will air on CBS. I am from Boston and grew up a Patriots fan, so you might be ask yourselves, why am I writing for a Houston Texans blog?I am a huge fan of the NFL as a whole. I just love the league.I love the games.I love Sundays. When it comes to the Texans, I have liked them for a long time. I always enjoyed playing with them on “Madden” as a kid Christian Covington Jersey , and I have followed them since the early Matt Schaub/Arian Foster/Andre Johnson days. Oh yes, those were good times for the Texans. The Texans are exciting now, and they should have an MVP-caliber quarterback (first post topic teaser) for the next twelveor so years. It seems as though things aligned at the right time as I am simultaneously beginning my journey as a sportswriter!I am going to do my best to make BRB even better than it already is, and the rest of the crew has welcomed me with open arms. I promise to bring some of that H-Town spirit over to Memphis, and then back home to Boston.I look forward to all of it.

Senior Bowl week is a fun one for the NFL scouting community Muhammad Wilkerson Jersey , and it just got a little more fun for Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst. This week, he finally gets to reunite with one of his good friends as a coworker, rather than simply seeing him in passing while they scout for different teams. In December, Bob McGinn reported that the Packers were planning to hire Milt Hendrickson to a job in their front office. Hendrickson, a close friend of Gutekunst’s from their La Crosse days, had been under contract with the Baltimore Ravens as a national scout. With his contract now up, Tom Silverstein of Packersnews.com reports that he has officially signed on to come work for Gutekunst with the Packers. That work begins in Mobile, Alabama, as Senior Bowl preparations began on Tuesday. Weigh-ins took place in the morning, with the first practices beginning in the afternoon. Although the Packers have not yet Hendrickson’s official title, he is expected to hold a top position in the personnel department and Silverstein reports that he is indeed in Mobile this week in that capacity.Look for an official announcement to come soon from the team. But for now, the personnel department — with Hendrickson aboard — is hard at work scouting out a hundred or so draft prospects.Cole Madison’s absence is opening up a roster spot for other Packers linemen Since Ted Thompson took over as the Green Bay Packers’ general manager, the Packers have rarely cut players drafted in the fifth round or earlier before week one of their rookie seasons. In fact, it has happened just three times in the 13 seasons since Thompson took the rains. In 2007, wide receiver David Clowney failed to make the cut after being selected 157th overall. 2009 saw pick #162 Marcedes Lewis Jersey , offensive tackle Jamon Meredith, miss out on the roster, though he had a productive stretch with a handful of teams through 2015. Then last year, DeAngelo Yancey made it three when the 175th overall selection missed final cuts, landing on the practice squad instead for the entirety of the 2017 season. That history is what had us at APC convinced that offensive lineman Cole Madison was all but assured of a roster spot this fall. New GM Brian Gutekunst selected him with the first pick in the 5th round, number 138 overall, and with the team working him in primarily at guard — a position that is a question mark on the right side at the very least — it was logical to assume that he would be locked in. In fact, he was a unanimous selection to make the team by all of the APC contributors who submitted roster predictions in July.Fast-forward to August 6th and we are nearly two weeks into training camp with no sign of Madison. He did not report for camp due to personal issues, and comments from Gutekunst last week suggest that no return is imminent: With language like “personal matter” and “concerned” in those statements, it’s clear that something significant is going on with the young player. If there are serious issues that he is facing, Packers fans should wish him success in dealing with whatever problems he may be facing. However, the team needs to continue moving forward to define its 2018 roster, and the longer that Madison is away, the better the chances are that another offensive lineman will get the roster spot that was effectively earmarked for the rookie. In a way, Madison’s absence could balance out with the unexpected early return of Bryan Bulaga from the PUP list. With Bulaga back Lance Kendricks Jersey , veteran tackle Byron Bell may have seen his shot at a roster spot diminish. The swing lineman can provide depth at both tackle and guard, but the quality of his play has been lacking in the last year or two. However, his versatility could indeed be of value to the Packers, since he is theoretically able to play four positions on the line.Arguably, however, the Packers are set at tackle with Bulaga’s return and a pair of third-year pros — Jason Spriggs and Kyle Murphy — as backups. That could mean that the team would feel more comfortable keeping a dedicated interior lineman on the roster. Perhaps Lucas Patrick, Kofi Amichia, or Dillon Day would get a better shot at the team this summer than previously expected. APC had Patrick as the ninth lineman on the roster for the fall, but Amichia, Day, and even rookie Austin Davis all got at least one vote.We hope that Madison is able to work through his issues regardless of his ability to contribute on the football field. However, another player will need to step up into his spot this summer, and Packers fans should start to get a better idea of who is taking a step forward in Thursday’s preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans.
