In short, it’s time for the 2019 Field Gulls Armchair GM Draft Challenge. The rules are simple and easy. You choose twenty draft eligible prospects you believe the Seahawks will select, with each prospect assigned a point value from 30 to 11. If the team actually selects that player at any point in the draft, then you are awarded that number of points, and the entrant with the most points at the end of Day 3 Saturday wins. As always, spelling is important because I simply use a “control F” to find the entrants who had a specific player selected. Thus,if you have questions about the correct spelling of a player’s name, the spelling I will use is that from the official NFL draft tracker prospect list.To enter you selections, CLICK HERE to access the Google Form. If at the end of the seventh round of the draft there is a tie between entrants, the winner will be determined by the tiebreakers Jason Myers Jersey , and the tiebreakers are determined by the entrant who answered closest. If there are three or more entrants tied prior to addressing the tiebreaker, and two or more of the entrants remain tied after the first tiebreaker, only those entrants who were closest on the first tiebreaker will advance to the second tiebreaker. If two or more entrants remain tied after the second tiebreaker, then everyone loses and I will do a series over the summer that does a play by play breakdown of the 6-6 tie between the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals in Week 7 of the 2016 season. Hopefully we are not pushed to this. Entries will be accepted from now through 9 PM Eastern Time (6 PM Pacific Time) on Thursday, April 25, or until the Seahawks make their first selection in the draft, whichever is first. As a reminder, the 2018 challenge was won on a furious Day 3 comeback that led to a tiebreaker victory, so take those tiebreakers and late round picks seriously! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask away in the comment section. Again, just in case you missed it: CLICK HERE TO ACCESS THE 2019 FIELD GULLS ARMCHAIR GM DRAFT CHALLENGE ENTRY FORM. Russell Wilson had another phenomenal season for the Seattle Seahawks. If 2015 is his masterpiece, then 2018 is not too far off. He had a career-high in touchdown passes (35), tied a career-low in interceptions (7) David Moore Jersey , and was insanely efficient given his lack of pass attempts on the year. NFL.com compiled a video of what they believed to be Wilson’s top ten plays from this season. It’s all subjective, but are you really going to complain about watching Russell highlights? Of course not. If you can’t play the video or just plain don’t want to, here’s the order:10.) Sideline toss to Tyler Lockett in the playoff loss to the Dallas Cowboys.9.) Deep touchdown to Tyler Lockett for 52 yards in the home win over the San Francisco 49ers.8.) That insane 4th and 6 conversion to Doug Baldwin in the Cowboys playoff game, on what would be Seattle’s only meaningful touchdown drive on the day.7.) Scramble out of the pocket, extending the play, and finding David Moore for his first career NFL touchdown in the home loss to the Los Angeles Rams.6.) Dropping the snap, picking it up, throwing a touchdown to David Moore in the blowout win over the Oakland Raiders in London.5.) The effective game-winning throw to Tyler Lockett at the Carolina Panthers.4.) The 2nd and 19 deep pass to Doug Baldwin, who made a one-handed catch at the 1-yard line in Seattle’s playoff-clinching win against the Kansas City Chiefs.3.) His season-long 40-yard run in the Seahawks’ Monday Night Football victory against the Minnesota Vikings.2.) The absurd 45-yard bomb to Tyler Lockett on the same drive as the Baldwin catch in the Chiefs game.1.) 4th and 3, game (season?) on the line, Wilson throws a perfect pass to David Moore for 35 yards and the game-tying touchdown against the Panthers. It’s amazing how that running game and defense were able to make Wilson do all of those incredible plays, isn’t it?

The Seahawks waived him prior to the start of the 2017 regular season. He was picked up by the Los Angeles Rams and was there for about 3 minutes, then was brought back by Seattle later that season. Last season, Jefferson appeared in every game and started a dozen of them. He racked up three sacks, five TFLs, two passes defensed, a fumble recovery, and 25 tackles. The 26-year-old has become a regular part of Seattle’s defensive line rotation, so it’s a welcome sight to see that he’s been re-signed.The Seahawks also notably gave tackle and fellow RFA George Fant a second-round tender, worth $3.095 million. He has not signed that tender yet, although with Seattle’s offseason workout program underway, you can probably expect news of Fant’s signing to follow suit. This Quinton Jefferson news was obviously the contract update you all were desperately wanting to hear about on April 15th. Hopefully this calms some nerves. If your quarterback appears to be franchise-caliber, you must pay him. This is the modus operandi of the NFL as every front office subscribes to this line of thought. Extending Russell Wilson, the..."If your quarterback appears to be franchise-caliber, you must pay him. This is the modus operandi of the NFL as every front office subscribes to this line of thought. Extending Russell Wilson Germain Ifedi Jersey , the most important player on the Seattle Seahawks, had to happen. John Schneider did it in an intelligent manner too. For the next three years, the contract fits what Seattle is trying to do. This year a few additions are needed, but the Seahawks should be able to make a serious push for the ultimate goal of a Lombardi Trophy. Brady (twice), Eli Manning and Steve Young. Young holds the record for the highest cap percentage to win the Lombardi Trophy at 13.1%. You’ll notice that figure is below Wilson’s 2019 number of 13.98%. I’ll repeat, Wilson’s 2019 cap percentage is the lowest on his new deal. Other passers have got close, on example being Drew Brees last season. The 40-year-old accounted for 12.1% of New Orleans Saints’ salary cap, and we all know how close they got in the NFC Championship Game. Based on the research of Tom Mead at Inside the Pylon, in the last 15 seasons just nine of the 51 starting quarterbacks in the championship games were paid more than 12% of the salary cap.The total cap number will continue to climb, which should see the cap percentage Wilson accounts for in the other years of his contract drop. Yet, it’s almost certain that Wilson will have to set a cap record to win another Super Bowl title. The jackpot of a rookie quarterback contract after hitting on a newly drafted passer is undeniable. Having extra cap space buys a Front Office extra room for mistakes, even if they are trying to invest their cap wisely rather than splurging space for the sake of it.While this thought process based around quarterback cap percentage challenges the typical thinking of roster construction, it ignores the fact that winning a Super Bowl is incredibly difficult. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick’s success, aided by a soft AFC East, have warped what we think is possible. Peyton Manning’s second victory above the 11% was largely thanks to a historic defense. Eli Manning owed a lot of thanks to that side of the ball too. How often does the most talented team in the NFL end up as the overall winner?Andrew Brandt clearly disagrees with the criticism of paying a quarterback: It’s also true that an elite quarterback is how to regularly win and be in contention in the NFL. This isn’t Madden where you can reload your game if you don’t get the QB with the “superstar” development trait. Perhaps that will be the new line of thinking, and it’s something the Los Angeles Rams might do with Jarred Goff—surround a rookie who can throw to space with superstar talent in a high-powered, repetitive offense and keep churning though the position.Overall, though Jarran Reed Jersey , the alternative is dire and a teams odds get a lot longer. Finding quarterbacks who can consistently play well in the NFL is really hard. Some excellent work was done by @moo12152 which showed that teams did not get worse with a larger percentage of cap room paid to the quarterback—even on defense.Getting over the hump is difficult and having as much talent as possible does of course help. The question, really, is this: is Russell Wilson closer to the Tom Brady’s and Peyton Manning’s than he is to Joe Flacco or Matt Stafford? Is being “elite” ranking in the top 3 quarterbacks, massively elevating an entire team? Does Wilson not do that in his own way?Respected film analyst Voch Lombardi said this, ranking the criminally underrated Matt Ryan ahead of Wilson. The usage of “elite” is, of course, subjective:I feel those trying to evaluate quarterbacks traditionally get lose in that sauce—another factor we can partially blame on Brady and Manning. Wilson is an elite franchise quarterback, just in a particularly unique way. Yes, he has his flaws, with some of the causation being environmental from the years of horrendous offensive lines. Wilson can: hold the ball too long; struggle to process zone; struggle to play in structure; be skittish in the pocket. What makes him so incredible as a quarterback is his ability to succeed despite these bad traits. It disagrees with the conventional logic of the position. Amongst frustrating plays, there is brilliance never seen before in Seattle. For instance, his elite abilities to: throw guys open against man with pinpoint accuracy; place the ball perfectly against trail; throw at funky arm angles; regularly extend plays; and suit up for every game. Last season there was an overly skewed tendency to run the football. Yet the passing concepts that Brian Schottenheimer gave Wilson often brought the best out of his quarterback. Whether Pete Carroll wants to operate with a more risky offense is another question, as is wondering if Wilson’s skillset even fits this approach. That’s where his uniqueness comes in: he’s much better against single-high defense. But, if the 2019 offense maintains the same passing concepts, gains some more weapons and becomes less cautious, Wilson should be in for a career year. Quarterback Wins are a dreadfully flawed stat, but Wilson wins games. They had to pay him and the Seahawks did.

Underscoring this issue is the fact that the team finished the season with a whopping 15 players on injured reserve, having had their seasons shut down for one reason or another over the course of the season. It’s painful, but it’s worth examining each of these players and what their absences meant to the 2018 squad.ILB Jake Ryan (training camp)Expected to start next to Blake Martinez, Ryan was surely hoping to have a nice year heading into free agency. His presence would allow Oren Burks time to adjust to the NFL after being selected in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Instead, Ryan’s season ended before it began, tearing his ACL during one of the first practices of training camp. That forced the Packers to utilize a heavy rotation of safeties next to Martinez, and along with Burks’ shoulder injury, it helped force the Packers’ acquisition of Antonio Morrison late in camp.CB Davon House (week 4)The Packers got virtually no production out of House in his first two games, after bringing him back on a one year deal to ostensibly help provide a veteran presence in the secondary. Instead, the team signed Bashaud Breeland a few weeks after House went down, and he provided the depth and coverage ability that House did not.DT Muhammad Wilkerson (week 5)One of the bigger signings of 2018, Wilkerson was expected to make a big impact next to Kenny Clark and Mike Daniels. Instead, a gruesome broken ankle cut his year short, sending him back to free agency with more questions than answers. Dean Lowry filled in for Wilkerson admirably, and the Packers went back to more of a two-man line after he was done.WR Geronimo Allison (week 9)After missing a few games earlier in the season (one with a concussion and one with a hamstring injury), a groin injury cost Allison the entire second half of the season. When he was on the field prior to his first injury, he was a difference-maker — he led the team in receiving yardage through three games — and his absence forced a few of the rookie receivers into more prominent roles than the team had planned for them in their first years.CB Kevin King (week 10)The oft-injured King suited up in six games this season, recording his first NFL interception to set up a game-winning drive against the San Francisco 49ers. However, King continues to fight through injury after injury, missing two games with a groin injury early before a hamstring issue sent him to IR. If he can ever get healthy, he and Jaire Alexander should make a very good young starting cornerback tandem, but that’s still a big if.S Raven Greene (week 12)After a few promising preseason games, Greene was quiet early on in the season http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-antonio-morrison-jersey , playing mostly on special teams. However, he had an exciting game in the Packers’ win over the Dolphins, rushing for 26 yards on a fake punt and recording a sack on Brock Osweiler. With Ha Ha Clinton-Dix gone and Kentrell Brice dealing with injuries, Greene would have contributed heavily down the stretch had he not injured his ankle.OLB Nick Perry (week 12)What a dismal season it was for Perry. For years, the knock on him was that he was productive when he could stay on the field. He earned a big contract after an 11-sack campaign in 2016, but he has played just 21 of 36 games since with 8.5 sacks — and only 1.5 of those came in his nine games in 2018, after which he was shut down with knee and ankle issues. That’s brutal production for a player who made over $27 million in cash in those two years. The Packers almost have to cut him this offseason (probably as a post-June 1 cut) in order to get out from under that albatross deal. DT Mike Daniels (week 13)Towards the end of the team’s long, tough road stretch in the middle of the season, Daniels suffered a foot injury in Seattle. He landed on IR shortly thereafter, missing the remainder of the season and failing to reach four sacks for the first time since his rookie year. Furthermore, this was the first time Daniels had missed more than two games in any NFL season. He should be back to 100% and will be motivated in 2019, entering in a contract year.RB Tra Carson (week 13)A mid-season addition, Carson suited up in four games behind Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams as a special teams player before being shut down after Thanksgiving due to a rib injury.OL on the list early in the year. The team’s continued insistence on believing in Davis as a return man may be over thanks to the turnover on the coaching staff.RB Aaron Jones (week 16)After missing two games to start the year on suspension, Jones finally earned the starting running back duties around midseason when Mike McCarthy accepted what fans had seen for weeks. However, his highest carry count in a game was 17 (accomplished twice). Still, he scored nine times in 2018, including a string of five straight games, before being shut down late in the season with another sprained MCL — the second straight season he has had that type of injury.DT Kenny Clark (week 17)Clark became the third and final Packer to land on IR late in the season, though the circumstances of that designation were odd. The team reportedly planned to place him on IR with three games to go, but did not do so until before the final Sunday. Clark was deserving of All-Pro consideration, not just Pro Bowl honors, and though he received neither, he will be poised to be the Packers’ biggest defensive star next season.CB Will Redmond (week 17)Another midseason pickup, Redmond was a special teams player in his five games before he was shut down with a shoulder injury. For those counting at home Geronimo Allison Jersey White , nine of the 15 Packers who finished the 2018 season on injured reserve started at least one game for the team, with a tenth having been slated to be a starter before the season. It was a brutal year once again for Green Bay on that front, and hopefully the team will have better luck in 2019. Mock drafts have zeroed in on a handful of players for Green Bay, but what if Brian Gutekunst goes against the grain? Here are some players who could be in play for the Packers with top picks."Never take mock drafts too seriously. Even the best ones are only accurate with 30-40% of picks as NFL teams go rogue, leaving informed observers scratching their heads. Right now, reporters, NFL analysts, and Packers fans have ideas about who the likely candidates are with Green Bay’s considerable draft capital. As this process drudges forward, those ideas homogenize into a group-think soup of uninteresting and usually inaccurate notions. Remember, this time last year, Josh Jackson was a popular player for the Packers in mock drafts ... in the first round. So what happens when and if the draft goes off the rails, which it usually does? Here are some interesting options for the Packers, players who fit the general standards for what they’re looking for, and could also be filling important roles for the team moving forward. Obviously, the point of these kinds of stories is to project the unpredictable, a fool’s errand if ever there was one. Players will inevitably fall, others will go much higher than expected. The point is to simply think outside the box, to identify players not often connected with the team in the NFL Draft Industrial Complex, but who could be legitimate and intriguing options for Green Bay on draft day. Here’s a potential draft, with some secondary options, that could turn some heads for being a little more outside the box than most are projecting. 12. Andre Dillard OT Washington StateEven before his combine performance showed his athlete athleticism, Dillard was being overlooked by much of the mainstream draft conversation. Whether it was his relative lack of size (he played under 300 pounds at Wazzu) or the presumed deficiencies from playing in Mike Leach’s Air Raid attack, Dillard couldn’t seem to crack the top 12-15 spots in mock drafts. That shouldn’t be the case. Dillard is the best pure pass blocker in the class who can get even better, as indicated with his athletic tools. But don’t worry if this is sounding dangerously Jason Spriggs-y. Dillard doesn’t have the fatal flaw Spriggs has with lateral quickness and pass rushers who can counter inside. The only place he has to get better is as a run blocker Montravius Adams Jersey , but adding some muscle and experience should do the trick. David Bakhtiari had that “flaw” too and that worked out decently for Green Bay. Another fun one: Chauncey Gardner-Johnson S Florida — A little high based on where he’s being projected, but CGJ could be worth it. Green Bay met with him in Indy, and Gardner-Johnson tested well enough that he has teams considering him at cornerback as well. A versatile cover safety to pair with Adrian Amos? Top half of the first round isn’t too high.30. N’Keal Harry WR Arizona State This isn’t the first time a receiver gets the nod with the luxury first-rounder, but Harry should be getting much more run at this spot. The Packers have had their eye on the dynamic Sun Devil receiver for months and Brian Gutekunst attended his pro day in person. Harry has the speed to win down the field, the strength to create in jump ball situations, and can be dynamic after the catch. There’s definitely some Davante Adams in his game. Harry answered concerns about his lack of college separation with good agility times at his pro day, and would come to a system that would find ways to use him creatively. ASU lined him up a little bit of everywhere, including the backfield at times, a wrinkle Matt LaFleur would love to use with a somewhat limited group of backs in terms of versatility. Two offensive players in the first would ruffle some Cheesehead Nation feathers, but after the money they allocated to the defense in free agency, the Packers have room to get a little crazy. Harry is a top-20 talent, and if he falls to 30, Green Bay should be all over it. Another fun one: Jerry Tillery DL Notre Dame — Ideally suited from a physical perspective to play end in Mike Pettine’s 3-4 defense with his length and strength. Tillery also has supreme athletic gifts and pass rush juice. 44. Chase Winovich EDGE Michigan This pick will be the hardest to surprise with simply because so many options have been floated. The further down the draft, the more variance in consensus. Conventional wisdom here is snag Irv Smith Jr. if he’s available. If he’s not, there’s probably a safety worth picking here in the Darnell Savage or Nasir Adderley mold. But what if there’s not? What if none of those guys are available, or Green Bay doesn’t value them with this selection? Eschew an edge early and the Packers could still land a solid secondary pass rusher to complement the Acme Sackers. Winovich isn’t just an effort pass rusher; he is a solid athlete who plays with an edge. Plus, the flowing blonde hair will give Green Bay fans major Clay Matthews vibes. Sure, no safety or tight end to this point, but the Packers could be walking away with long-term starters at two marquee positions, and a rotational piece at a third in a league where you can never have too many pass rushers. Another fun one: Justin Layne CB Michigan State — Speaking of “you can never have too many,” don’t be surprised to see the Packers keep throwing darts at the cornerback board. Layne offers physicality and size from a former wide receiver who has the traits to develop into a solid man cover corner.

Andy Dalton Jersey

The Bengals offense has had its struggles this season. The unit is ranked just 27th in rushing and 23rd in total yards per game Andy Dalton Jersey , but offensive coordinator Bill Lazor has managed to get points on the board regardless. His group is the 10th ranked scoring offense in the NFL and besides a few rough patches along the way, his system has been more successful than not. There are plenty of reasons why the team has been successful this season, and that is mostly because of all the emerging talented players on that side of the ball.Unfortunately, a few players were eliminated from consideration because of their extensive time missed due to injury. Players like Giovani Bernard and Tyler Eifert were among this group, and they deserve recognition for their production before their injuries, but we’re sticking to those who’ve been available the most. Joe Mixon was also a victim of this, as he missed two games due to minor knee surgery. If he can stay healthy, however, he could end up being the offensive MVP for the season. Before we reveal the offensive MVP, here are the honorable mentions:A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd, wide receiversThese two honestly had really strong cases on their own. Boyd leads the team with 49 catches, and Green leads the team with 687 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Both are producing at similar levels across the stat sheet, and whenever one had a down game, the other took it upon himself to carry the passing game. It’s been impressive witnessing what Boyd has been able to do in his third season. Last year he was essentially a non-factor up until the final two weeks of the season, but this year he has proven to be the compliment to Green that this team has needed since they let Marvin Jones Jr. and Mohamed Sanu walk following the 2015 season. What kept these two from being MVP altogether is each other’s presence. The fact they have put up eerily similar numbers can’t be ignored when the race for MVP has been this close up until this point in the season. You could argue that Green is more valuable because of the attention he receives every game, but even then it is still hard to put him that much farther ahead of Boyd.Midseason Offensive MVPAndy Dalton, quarterbackThe Dalton haters don’t have much weight behind their jeers at this point. We need to recognize the season Dalton has put together so far. First of all A.J. Green Jersey , his production, and the consistency of its accumulation, have been admirable. He has 2,102 passing yards (13th in the NFL), 17 touchdowns (tied for third) while only been sacked 16 times, which has as much to do with him getting rid of the ball quickly and avoiding pressure as the improvements to the offensive line. The first number many will point to criticize Dalton is his interceptions, as he is tied for fourth in the NFL with eight. However, when you look at those numbers on a game-to-game basis, he only has one game with more than one interception, which was when he had four interceptions against the Panthers thanks to a couple of tipped passes. It is also worth mentioning that Dalton only has two weeks this season where he has thrown less than two touchdowns (he has no games without a touchdown). He has had two or more touchdowns in six of his eight games. The lack of disaster games from the Bengals quarterback has been a breath of fresh air. Finally, let’s talk about how clutch he has been this season. In Week 1 against the Colts, the Bengals were facing a 13-point deficit in the third quarter. He helped lead the offense to 17 straight points before Clayton Fejedelem put the game away with a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Three weeks later, the Falcons were up by six against Dalton’s Bengals with just over four minutes remaining. After converting not one, but two fourth-down conversions, Dalton tied the game up with a dart to Green in the end zone in the final seconds of the game. An extra point from kicker Randy Bullock sealed the Bengals’ third win of the season.Against the Steelers two weeks later, Dalton orchestrated another successful final drive to take the lead, but his defense couldn’t hold back the Steelers offense in the final seconds. There were people who criticized them for scoring too soon Michael Jordan Cincinnati Bengals Jersey , but how many times in the Dalton era has the offense even pulled off such a drive in that situation?Of course, he just put one together against the Buccaneers last week after the defense gave up 18 fourth-quarter points. Dalton put the team in field goal position and allowed Bullock to make up for his missed extra point earlier in the game.Dalton’s stats may not blow us away, and they aren’t of that of an elite quarterback. You still have to admit the Bengals wouldn’t be close to 5-3 if it weren’t for him this season. Now that Eric Winston is no longer playing pro football, he's not exactly soaking up the rays in some exotic locale. He's preparing for the rest of his life by attending the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, while also handling a myriad of duties as president of the NFL players' union.Yes, Winston, 34, has the funds to make an easier transition from the football field to the field of business after a 12-year NFL career. Many of his peers do, too.And many don't.Thanks to The Trust, though, the opportunity is there for nearly anyone who had at least two accredited seasons of NFL service to return to school to complete their degrees, or to pursue advanced degrees such as Winston is doing, or to attend a trade school.More than 1,500 scholarships worth more than $12.2 million have been awarded through The Trust, which will reach its fifth anniversary next month. Last spring, 115 former players used the scholarship program, and 87 more did in the summer. While the back-to-school portion of The Trust that developed out of the 2011 labor agreement following a lengthy lockout is important Michael Jordan Jersey 2019 , Winston stressed how much more there is to the program."The longer you play, the less applicable you feel to transition into something outside," he says. "You've been so long out of the typical workforce, if you will, and you see a lot of college buddies who are pretty well down the span of their life in their careers. And you think to yourself, 'How are you going to catch up?' It's sort of a daunting task."The Trust really helps guys get right first, whether it is dealing with injuries, substance abuse, so many issues that are there with guys coming off the field and who can't get to the next phase of their lives. It's getting guys physically and mentally ready with the transition."Another step in that process is the use of former players who have made that transition. Anthony Becht, who played 11 seasons as a tight end, is one of those "captains" who serve as mentors.Becht currently is an analyst for ESPN's college football telecasts and also did preseason games for the New York Jets. He sees his role as an educator — letting men who have left the league know about the benefits The Trust provides — and as a sounding board."We tend to have different conversations depending on how long a guy is out," Becht says. "In general, once they learn this is not activated yet and is something they have earned, they want to know where it came from and why it's available now. It's letting them know we are not affiliated with anyone, we're trying to give you something you have earned and trying to provide you with the multiple programs we have."Among those programs are five pillars:—Brain and Body: The Trust has partnered with the University of North Carolina Brain and Body Health Program; Tulane's Institute of Sports Medicine; the Cleveland Clinic and its locations in Ohio, Florida, Nevada and at the Hoag Institute of Neuroscience in California; and the Massachusetts General Hospital Brain and Body Program.—Careers: The Trust has partnered with AthLife Color Rush Michael Jordan Jersey , Babson College, and Lee Hecht Harrison.—Education: A partnership with AthLife.—Lifestyle: Partnerships with EXOS and the YMCA.—Financial: Partnerships with Financial Finesse and Hillard Heintze."I can't stress enough how difficult it is to run a full suite of services like that," Winston says. "Just think about just trying to help in the transition. And then we have another (program) with scholarships, and then to help guys get placed from there. It's not an easy task."To Becht, there is a boots to the ground element because The Trust is relatively new, and getting out the word that it not only exists but can be so helpful to former players is paramount. This isn't some club for those men to join, it's a benefit they have earned similar to a pension. He believes a majority of the eligible former players don't know about The Trust, or there has been confusion about what is available and what is not."Whether you have money saved or have done successful stuff off the field or kind of played several years and made decent money, whatever your angle may be — even for guys who never saved anything — everyone will go through a withdrawal period," Becht says. "How do you turn the page and get your life on a new schedule?"The programs are ridiculously huge in regards to the access guys have now. You can jump into anything, but guys have got to want to do it, whether through the NFLPA or the NFL."

Report: Bucs will ride hot hand at QB and Winston’s fine with it The debate of whether or not the Buccaneers will keep franchise quarterback Jameis Winston benched was stirred up this past week after Ryan Fitzpatrick’s Week 1 performance against the New Orleans Saints. Keeping Winston benched on a short week when he returnsfrom suspension Week 4 was possible. Now it seems to be reality Peyton Barber Jersey , but with games to follow.According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Tampa Bay may continue to have Winston sit on the bench if Fitzpatrick continues to play well. This is also apparently agreed upon by Winston. That last paragraph sounds like Winston. He’s always been about the team first ahead of himself. However, Rapoport does note later on that Winston will eventually return. He adds that the team’s success with the current group of receivers, the play from the offensive line, and playcalling from offensive coordinator Todd Monken has the team anxious to see what Winston can do. They won’t keep him shelved for long. Sunday was another standard loss for the Buccaneers as they fell 27-20 to the Cowboys in Dallas. Tampa Bay was hurt by penalties and turnovers in what turned out to be its third straight loss and 10th loss overall. The team hit double-digit losses for the seventh time in the last decade, which almost certainly means change is coming soon, right? Regardless, there’s only one more week of this miserable season. Before we get there, let’s check in on how week 16 unfolded for the rest of the NFC South.New Orleans Saints (13-2)Despite losing a 10-point lead in the second half, the Saints rallied back for a 31-28 home victory over the Steelers on Sunday. The first half went back and forth between the two teams, with Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara both scoring touchdowns before a Wil Lutz field goal gave New Orleans a 17-14 halftime lead. After the break, the Saints went 75 yards in 11 plays to go up 24-14. Pittsburgh had fight left to give, scoring two unanswered touchdowns to end the third quarter. The Steelers held a 28-24 lead for much of the fourth quarter Ryan Smith Jersey , but a late drive was capped by a game-winning two-yard touchdown pass from Drew Brees to Michael Thomas with 1:25 left. With the victory, New Orleans clinched the top seed in the NFC.Brees had a good day, throwing for 326 yards and a touchdown on 27-of-39 passing. Kamara ran for two touchdowns, while Thomas put together another monster day in a long line of them. He caught 11 of his 13 targets for 109 yards and the game-winning score. The New Orleans defense had trouble with Pittsburgh’s powerful offense at times, but did recover two fumbles on the day. One went to Demario Davis and the other was recovered by Alex Okafor. Up Next: vs. Carolina Panthers (6-9)Atlanta Falcons (6-9)The Falcons moved up in the NFC South standings with a 24-10 road win over the Panthers on Sunday. Despite not having Cam Newton, Carolina managed to hang around in the first half. The game was tied 10-10 after 30 minutes, but Atlanta scored the final 14 points in the third quarter to pick up a second straight victory. Matt Ryan found Calvin Ridley for a 75-yard touchdown to give the Falcons a 17-10 lead before hitting Mohamed Sanu for a 44-yard score to add to the lead. The Atlanta defense gave up 436 yards on the day, but forced four turnovers in the win. Ryan continued to play well on Sunday, completing 15 of his 26 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns. Those three scores went to three different receivers, with Julio Jones getting in on the action before the later touchdowns by Ridley and Sanu. Brian Hill had a big day on the ground for the Falcons, rushing for 115 yards on just eight carries (14.4 yards per carry). Tevin Coleman added 51 yards on 10 carries. Brian Poole, Jack Crawford and Isaiah Oliver all came up with interceptions on the day. Poole added a fumble recovery, marking his second straight week of having a recovery and an interception. Up Next: at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-10)Carolina Panthers (6-9)The Panthers continued their collapse on Sunday Chris Conte Jersey , falling 24-10 at home to the Falcons for their seventh straight loss. With Cam Newton shut down for the season, Carolina started Taylor Heinicke at quarterback. He got out to a nice start, leading a 14-play, 73-yard drive that lasted 8:03 before giving the Panthers a 7-0 lead with a one-yard touchdown pass to Ian Thomas. However, that ended up being Carolina’s only touchdown of the day. A 50-yard field goal by former Buc Chandler Catanzaro accounted for the team’s only other points. Overall, the Panthers outgained the Falcons 436-427, but turned the ball over four times in the loss.Heinicke completed 33 of his 53 passes for 274 yards and a touchdown, but was intercepted three times. Christian McCaffrey continued to do Christian McCaffrey things, rushing for 101 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries in addition to catching 12 of his 13 targets for 77 yards. Jarius Wright was the second-leading receiver with 69 yards on seven catches, but he also lost a fumble. Catanzaro made his only two attempts on the day (one extra point, one field goal). He is three-for-three on field goals and four-for-four on extra points since joining the Panthers.Up Next: at New Orleans Saints (13-2)

Lions notes: T.J. Lang has a long http://www.lionslockerroom.com/authentic-anthony-zettel-jersey , troubling history of concussions In the first quarter of the Detroit Lions’ Week 4 game against the Dallas Cowboys, starting right guard T.J. Lang was involved in a helmet-to-helmet collision that resulted in what appeared to be a serious injury. It didn’t take long for the team to announce that Lang had suffered a concussion and was out for the rest of the game.As noted by MLive’s Kyle Meinke, this was far from Lang’s first concussion. Not only did Lang suffer a concussion that held him out of one game last year, but during a teleconference back in 2015, Lang admitted to suffering from several in the past.“Yeah, I’ve had my fair share,” Lang said per Meinke. “I think I’ve had three or four, and they’re scary to go through. I went through one in Pittsburgh this preseason. They’re scary. It was middle of the game Jake Rudock Jersey White , I was kind of looking around and for about 10, 15 seconds I had no idea where I was. And that kind of scared me.”Lang looked quite disoriented again on Sunday in Dallas, and it’s a scary situation for the 31-year-old. We’re hoping for the best for the big guy.To the surprise of absolutely no one, the Lions are the worst red zone offense in the league: The Lions apparently knew before the game even started that their Week 4 officiating crew was going to call a lot of penalties. They were called for eight penalties while the Cowboys were responsible for just two.Detroit is doing a pretty darn good job spreading the ball around in the passing game: Golden Tate seemed a little remorseful after his taunting during Sunday’s game. He’s aware that he put his team at risk for a fumble, and he doesn’t want to be a “douchebag.”Devon Kennard has been one of the few pleasant surprises on the Lions defense this year: Cowboys guard Zack Martin believes the Lions defense was good, but predictable, saying postgame that, “We pretty much knew what they were going to line up in and we had call-it-and-run-it plays and we executed them.” The Detroit Lions offense has its work cut out for them. The Minnesota Vikings defense is just starting to get its feet Womens Trey Flowers Jersey , and the Lions have really struggled to get the ball moving against their NFC North foe. Since 2014, the Lions have averaged just 17.9 points per game against the Vikes.Of course, unlike those past eight games, the Lions will be without Golden Tate this year. However, Detroit will have a couple things they didn’t have during those past four years: a competent offensive line and a running game. Will the Lions offense look any different than it has in the previous seven games without their leading receiver? Will anyone on defense finally step up and make some game-changing plays? Today’s Question of the Day is:Which Lions player could have a big game vs. the Vikings? My answer: Theo Riddick. Riddick is finally off the injury report, having participated fully on Friday and not given a gameday designation. I’m not one that thinks Riddick will suddenly take over in the slot. It happens on occasion, but putting him there full-time will only decrease his value to the team. However, the Vikings linebacking corps has struggled this year Womens Eli Harold Jersey , and they’ll be without Anthony Barr this week. I think there’s a good chance we see an uptick in two running back sets in the backfield, and that could make Riddick a very dangerous weapon. Obviously, Kerryon Johnson has proven to be an efficient runner, and one that will require a fair amount of attention from this Vikings defense. That could open up the possibility of Riddick slipping out of the backfield and doing what he does best: embarrass linebackers in coverage. Riddick only has 23 catches for 138 yards in five games played, so this is a bit of a risky pick, but I think there’s a marginal chance we see him nearly double his receiving yardage output in this game alone.Your turn.Tweets from https://twitter.com/PrideOfDetroit/lists/lions-coverage

Among the dead are Broncos head coach Darcy Haugan, team captain Logan Schatz and radio announcer Tyler Bieber. Authorities earlier said three were in critical condition but later provided an update to say that 15 have now died.Canadian police said the truck driver was initially detained but has since been released and provided with mental health assistance. Royal Canadian Mounted Police Assistant Commissioner Curtis Zablocki said it’s too early to state a cause for the crash. In a tweet, U.S. President Donald Trump said he called Trudeau to offer his condolences to the families of victims.Darren Opp, president of the Nipawin Hawks, said a semi T-boned the players’ bus – an account police confirmed.”It’s a horrible accident, my God,” Opp said.Hassan Masri, an emergency room doctor at Saskatoon’s Royal University Hospital who has done work in war-torn Syria, said the crash reminded him of an airstrike.Photographs of the wreckage showed the twisted trailer with most of its wheels in the air and the bus on its side and its back portion destroyed. The force of the crash sent both vehicles into the ditch at the northwest corner of the intersection.Aerial footage showed the bus on its side, its roof peeled back and its front end destroyed. We’re going to build off that.”Filip Forsberg had the tying goal with 4:19 remaining in regulation and backup goalie Juuse Saros won for the first time in four starts for the Predators, who owned a 17-3 shots advantage after the second intermission against a Wild team returned from a 4-2 win at Pacific Division leader Calgary on Saturday night.Eric Fehr and Jason Zucker scored late in the second period less than 3 minutes apart for the Wild, who still moved into a tie with Dallas for the first wild-card spot in the Western Conference. The Stars have played one fewer game.“We all expected to win that game no matter what the travel is Sam Gagner Jersey , especially if we played our game,” Zucker said. “I thought we played pretty well.”Six days after he was traded to the Predators for fellow wing Kevin Fiala, Mikael Granlund faced off against his former team and was honored during a first-period break with a tribute video and an extended cheer from the crowd. There could hardly have been a player on the ice with more emotion for this game than Granlund, the slick stick-handler and special-teams standout who was informed of the deal by Wild general manager Paul Fenton after his fiancée had started labor. Granlund turned 27 and became a father the following day. He debuted with his new team with one assist at Winnipeg on Friday.Granlund, who skated with Kyle Turris and Craig Smith on the second line, was acquired in part to help jump-start a power play that entered the evening with the second-worst conversion rate (12.5 percent) in the NHL. The Predators went 0 for 2.“It’s been fun to play games,” Granlund said. “Hopefully I’m going to find my rhythm and systems and everything so I don’t need to go out there and think.”With first-liners Forsberg and Viktor Arvidsson, Turris and star defenseman P.K. Subban all having missed significant time earlier in the season, the Predators, who are just 5-6-1 in their last 12 games, have had to work a lot harder to stay among the Western Conference leaders than in the last two seasons. They trail Winnipeg by one point in the Central Division, but they’ve played three more games than the Jets.“We need to start pushing our collection,” Predators coach Peter Laviolette said. “I really liked the resiliency of our group.”Wayne Simmonds posted his first point for the Predators since he was acquired in a trade hours after Granlund, setting up Nick Bonino’s first goal in 16 games since Jan. 23. The Wild picked up the pace, and Fehr scored on a breakaway with 3:25 remaining before the second intermission after blocking Rocco Grimaldi’s shot. Zucker, with 38 seconds left, deposited his third goal in the last four games .Backup goalie Alex Stalock made 41 saves, after allowing 11 goals on 69 shots over his three previous starts Womens Devante Smith-Pelly Jersey , all losses. That included an early hook against Anaheim on Jan. 17, when he gave up three goals in 7:58.In the shootout, Johansen slowed to a near-stop in front of the crease and used a rope-a-dope move to set up a backhander. Stalock unsuccessfully argued that Johansen pushed his pad into the net with the puck.“They don’t want to be thought of as the team that didn’t make it,” Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said. “They’re giving it everything that they have.”NOTES: Recently retired skier Lindsey Vonn , the all-time women’s leader with 82 World Cup wins who grew up in Minnesota, performed a ceremonial puck drop . Grinning widely as she walked off the ice, Vonn playfully waved her arms at Nashville’s bench where her boyfriend, Subban, was sitting. … Zach Parise, who had the only shootout goal for the Wild, returned from a one-game absence to a lower-body injury as Matt Read, who scored against the Flames, was sent back to the AHL. … Smith returned from a six-game absence due to a lower-body injury. Bonino moved over to center to fill the spot vacated by Brian Boyle, who was out with a lower-body injury. … Eric Staal stretched his season-high points streak to six straight games. … Fiala is the fourth former Predators player acquired for the Wild by Fenton since the season began, joining right wing Pontus Aberg and defensemen Anthony Bitetto and Brad Hunt.UP NEXTPredators: After returning home to face the Wild again on Tuesday, they host Carolina on Saturday.Wild: After the rematch with the Predators in two nights, they stay on the road and play at Tampa Bay on Thursday.

Hall got 72 first-place votes and 1,264 total points in the voting, while MacKinnon got 60 first-place votes and 1,194 points.Hall likely got the nod over two worthy contenders because of the way he carried the Devils offensively while they rebounded from a last-place finish in the Eastern Conference and reached the playoffs for the first time in five years. Hall put together a 26-game points streak during the season, and he finished with 41 more points than rookie Nico Hischier, New Jersey’s second-leading scorer.”If there is one thing I’m proud of, it’s to be the first Devil to win MVP,” Hall said. ”At the start of the season Vincent Trocheck Jersey , people wrote us off. People have wrote me off, and it feels pretty good standing up here now.”Indeed, the award is a sweet validation for Hall, who was traded by Edmonton to New Jersey for defenseman Adam Larsson just two years ago. The Oilers gave up on the No. 1 pick in the 2010 draft, but Hall never gave up on reaching his potential. He reached it on the Devils’ top line with Hischier, forming a potent scoring tandem with the Swiss rookie.”I was a good player for a long time, and I feel what really brought me to the next level was being in Jersey, playing with my teammates, drafting Nico No. 1 overall and getting to play with him as a centerman all season long,” Hall said. ”I think probably the biggest reason why I’m up here today is No. 13 (Hischier) on my team, and the trust that (general manager) Ray Shero and (coach) John Hynes have put in me.”While Hall closed the show with the biggest trophy, the Golden Knights were big winners as well.Coach Gerard Gallant won the Jack Adams Award, and George McPhee was named the NHL’s general manager of the year in recognition of the Knights’ immediate growth into champions of the Pacific Division and the Western Conference.High-scoring Knights forward William Karlsson won the Lady Byng Trophy for the player best combining sportsmanship and ability. Defenseman Deryk Engelland also won the Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award for his actions during his team’s breakthrough season in the wake of the shooting massacre on the Las Vegas Strip shortly before their first game.”It’s been a remarkable season,” Engelland said. ”(We had) a great group of guys. They did a tremendous job putting the group together. For myself, I know there’s a lot of other guys in our locker room that could be here right now in my place. It’s just an honor Adrian Kempe Jersey , and once we look back on the season, it’s pretty special.”Tampa Bay’s Victor Hedman won his first Norris Trophy as the NHL’s top defenseman, while New York Islanders center Mathew Barzal won the Calder Trophy in a landslide as the league’s top rookie.Nashville’s Pekka Rinne won his first Vezina Trophy as the league’s top goalie, while Kopitar won his second Selke Trophy as the NHL’s best defensive forward.Connor McDavid won the Ted Lindsay Award as the NHL’s most outstanding player in a vote of the players’ union membership, but the Edmonton Oilers star was not a finalist for the Hart, which he won last year.New Jersey veteran Brian Boyle won the Masterton Trophy for perseverance and dedication to hockey after putting together an All-Star season in the wake of his cancer diagnosis and healthy problems for his young son.The NHL also welcomed the survivors of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash onto the stage late in the show for an emotional tribute. Darcy Haugan, the late coach of the Broncos, was honored with the Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award.Gallant was an obvious choice over Colorado’s Jared Bednar and Boston’s Bruce Cassidy after he masterminded the most spectacular expansion season in recent sports history. The Golden Knights went 51-24-7 and handily won the Pacific Division before winning 13 postseason games and reaching the Stanley Cup Final in their first playoff campaign.Engelland was honored for his leadership and contributions to society. The veteran defenseman already was a Las Vegas resident when the Golden Knights acquired him, and he emerged as a public face of the team during its inspirational performances in the wake of the shooting.Kopitar was named the NHL’s top defensive forward for the second time in three years after a standout all-around season.Hedman beat out Los Angeles’ Drew Doughty for the Norris after scoring 17 goals and racking up a plus-32 rating in another dominant season for the Lightning.Barzal was the runaway winner of the Calder after scoring 85 points in 82 games for the Islanders in his first full NHL season. The 16th overall pick in the 2015 draft scored 20 points more than any other rookie, racking up 22 goals and 63 assists while centering the Islanders’ second line.A few trophies awarded in Las Vegas carried no suspense because they were earned based on statistical achievements in the regular season.Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin won his seventh Richard Trophy as the NHL’s top goal-scorer, and Los Angeles’ Jonathan Quick won the Jennings Trophy for the second time as the goalie for the team allowing the NHL’s fewest goals.McDavid won his second straight Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s top scorer.—

Buffalo Sabres (31-35-9 Womens Josh Anderson Jersey , sixth in the Atlantic Division) vs. Ottawa Senators (26-43-6, eighth in the Atlantic Division)Ottawa, Ontario; Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. EDTBOTTOM LINE: Buffalo aims to break its three-game slide with a victory against Ottawa. The Senators have gone 8-13-2 against division opponents. Ottawa has given up 42 power-play goals, killing 79.1 percent of opponent chances. The Sabres are 17-22-7 in Eastern Conference play. Buffalo has given up 38 power-play goals, killing 80.7 percent of opponent chances. In their last meeting on Nov. 3, Buffalo won 9-2. Jeff Skinner recorded a team-high 3 points for the Sabres in the victory.TOP PERFORMERS: Thomas Chabot leads the Senators with 37 assists and has collected 50 points this season. Brady Tkachuk has five goals and two assists over the last 10 games for Ottawa.LAST 10 GAMES: Sabres: 1-8-1, averaging 1.9 goals, 3.1 assists, 3.3 penalties and 6.9 penalty minutes while giving up 3.5 goals per game with a .897 save percentage.Senators: 4-5-1, averaging three goals, 5.6 assists, 3.1 penalties and 6.2 penalty minutes while giving up 3.1 goals per game with a .910 save percentage.Senators Injuries: Zack Smith: day to day (undisclosed).Sabres Injuries: Zach Bogosian: day to day (undisclosed), Jake McCabe: out (upper body). BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Jack Eichel has difficulty accepting the sorry state of the Buffalo Sabres, who haven’t had a sniff at the playoffs in the three years since his celebrated arrival.”When I got drafted, if you would’ve said we’d be in this position, I probably would’ve told you to give your head a shake Adam Henrique Jersey ,” Eichel told The Associated Press.Instead, it’s the 21-year-old shaking his head in disbelief over a franchise that’s finished no better than 14th in the Eastern Conference since 2012-13 and in jeopardy of finishing last in the overall standings for the third time in five years. This isn’t what anyone – from since-fired GM Tim Murray to Sabres fans encouraging the team to tank – were anticipating during the 2014-15 season. That’s when Buffalo was in a race to the bottom for the right to draft one of the two touted, generational prospects: Eichel and Connor McDavid, who was selected first overall by Edmonton. What’s worse for Eichel is seeing other teams jumping ahead of Buffalo in the rebuilding process.”You look at Colorado and some of these teams, New Jersey, that make a quick turnaround and all of a sudden they’re in the playoff hunt,” he said.If misery likes company, the Sabres aren’t the only ones stuck in a rut.Whatever watershed moment the 2015 draft was supposed to represent by infusing game-changing talent to the NHL’s neediest teams, it has yet to make more than a ripple in the standings.Eichel hasn’t made a dent in the Sabres’ fortunes despite averaging nearly a point a game. For all of McDavid’s offensive exploits and earning NHL MVP honors last season, the Oilers will miss the playoffs for the second time in his three years.Instead, the 2015 draft serves as a cautionary example of how bottoming out doesn’t guarantee instant turnarounds. With the exception of Toronto, three of the teams, including Arizona, with top-five selections in 2015 have already been eliminated from this year’s playoffs, and a fourth, Carolina, could join them soon.So much for the tanking tenet held by several NHL executives, who thought the best way to build a champion was to start by losing big.Pittsburgh did that in building its three most recent Stanley Cup champion teams with two No. 1 draft picks (Sidney Crosby and goalie Marc-Andre Fleury) and a No. 2 (Evgeni Malkin). Chicago’s three most recent Cup winners followed the Blackhawks selecting Jonathan Toews with the No. 3 pick in 2006 and Patrick Kane No. 1 the following year. And yet Womens Andrew Cogliano Jersey , there are exceptions.Detroit won four titles from 1997 to 2008 despite not drafting higher than No. 19 from 1992 to 2013.Boston has had a top-10 pick just twice in 10 years.Just look at the NHL expansion Vegas Golden Knights, who have clinched a playoff berth and are leading the Pacific Division with a team cobbled together from scratch.”A lot of teams have a lot of good hockey players, but there’s not many Malkins and Crosbys in the NHL. No, we don’t have them,” Vegas coach Gerard Gallant said. ”It’s all about being a team. And we’ve been a team since Day 1.”This year, Nashville is leading the NHL with a roster featuring one top-five draft pick, forward Ryan Johansen, who was acquired in a trade with Columbus, and no other player selected in the top 10.”You don’t always have to be real bad for a few years to win,” Predators veteran forward Mike Fisher told The AP.Goalie Pekka Rinne credits Predators management for assembling the team through trades and identifying talent in the later rounds of the draft. The Predators feature six players Nashville selected in the fourth round or lower, including Rinne, an eighth-rounder in 2004.”We’ve never had to rebuild,” Rinne said. ”And for a guy like myself being here for a long time, it’s nice to have that. You don’t have to waste any years.”Having a wealth of high picks is no guarantee.Florida has made the playoffs twice since 2001-02 despite having a top-10 pick 10 times over that span. The Oilers have made the playoffs once since 2010 despite selecting first four times. The New York Islanders will miss the playoffs for a sixth time since selecting John Tavares with the No. 1 pick in 2009.After 2015, there are even fewer benefits to finishing last after the NHL altered its draft lottery formula. Now, the last-place team is assured of nothing more than the No. 4 pick, as opposed to No. 2.On Wednesday, the NHL announced the team finishing last will have an 18.5 percent chance of landing the first pick Brandon Montour Jersey Kids , up from 18 percent last year. The odds also improved for teams finishing second to last (13.5 percent, up from 12.1) and third last (11.5 from 10.3).Coyotes forward Brad Richardson wondered whether teams adopting a strategy to lose had lasting effects.”I don’t want to say tanking, but when you do tank, I think it sets a precedent in your organization that it’s OK to lose, and you’re showing the young guys that losing’s acceptable,” Richardson told The AP.HOLLAND’S FUTURERed Wings GM Ken Holland told The AP he has received no assurances from the team he’ll return for a 21st year, despite reports indicating he will be back.MLive.com on Tuesday cited an unnamed person in reporting Holland will be back ”with or without a contract.” The Detroit Free Press quoted a person familiar with the situation saying ”he’s going to be back as the GM,” but reported it’s unclear how Holland’s contract will be structured.Holland, in a text to The AP, declined to discuss whether he’d return without a contract, saying: ”I’ll talk when the final decision has been made.”LEADERS (Through Tuesday’s games)Points: McDavid, 102. Goals: Alex Ovechkin (Washington), 45. Game-winning goals: Sean Monahan (Calgary) and Nathan MacKinnon (Colorado), 11. Rookie points: Mathew Barzal (Islanders), 78. Goals-against average (minimum 40 games): Fleury (Vegas), 2.12.GAME OF THE WEEKTop spot in the overall standings could be on the line Sunday, when the Western Conference-leading Predators travel to play East-leading Tampa Bay.—

DENVER (AP) — Josh Anderson kept his toe on the blue line and then his fingers crossed. The goal he scored Anton Khudobin Jersey Womens , ruled good on the ice, was upheld after a replay review for offside. Just the sort of break Columbus needed.Anderson broke a tie with 9:31 remaining, Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 27 shots and the Blue Jackets snapped a five-game skid by beating the Colorado Avalanche 6-3 on Tuesday night.“I don’t know if it was offside or not,” Anderson said. “I guess we got lucky there at the end.”Anderson batted in a loose puck under the pads of Philipp Grubauer for the winner, only to have the Avalanche challenge for offside. As he watched the replay on the big screen, Anderson knew it was going to be close. He also knew he hesitated before entering the zone and dragged his toe. He felt that might be the difference.Officials confirmed Anderson tagged up before teammate Nick Foligno entered the offensive zone.A good goal — and costly for Colorado, which was assessed a delay-of-game penalty. That led to a clinching power-play goal from Alexander Wennberg.“It’s a tough one to overturn,” Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said. “But for us to make it work our way, for us to get a break our way Wade Megan Jersey Womens , it’s a really good sign.”The challenge was worth a chance, Avalanche coach Jared Bednar reasoned.“We’re taking what I consider a 60-40, 70-30 (percent) shot at offside and if we don’t get it we have to kill a penalty,” Bednar explained. “We didn’t do either.”Pierre-Luc Dubois scored twice for Columbus, including an empty-netter. Oliver Bjorkstrand and Cam Atkinson also had goals. The Blue Jackets arrived in town early to acclimate to the altitude. The strategy worked, as they looked just as fresh in the third period as they did in the first.“This one was real big for us,” Wennberg said. “I don’t know if it’s a must-win, but you had to find a way to get off this losing streak. It was important.”A trio of defensemen, Nikita Zadorov Tobias Rieder Jersey Womens , Samuel Girard and Erik Johnson, scored for Colorado, which dropped its fourth straight and fell to 3-12-2 since Dec. 21.“As a group we still made some bonehead mistakes that are just uncalled for, the forwards and the defensemen,” captain Gabriel Landeskog said. “We’re all under the same microscope there.”Grubauer made 31 saves in a start over Semyon Varlamov as the Avalanche search for consistency in net.Girard scored his first goal since Nov. 28 at 14:06 of the second period, and moments later it appeared Tyson Barrie just might increase the lead. But Bobrovsky made a save, with the deflection winding up on the stick of Artemi Panarin, who quickly launched it up the ice to a wide-open Atkinson. The Blue Jackets forward faked out Grubauer to tie it at 3 with 18.9 seconds left in the second. That’s the way things went early — one counter after another.Columbus scored 53 seconds into the game on a wraparound goal from Bjorkstrand. Johnson answered with a shot from the blue line before the Blue Jackets answered right back courtesy of Dubois’ 20th goal of the season. With 1:23 remaining in the first, Zadorov knotted it again with a shot from the blue line. Before the game Mike Hoffman Jersey Womens , Colorado general manager Joe Sakic said he hasn’t lost any confidence in his squad despite the recent slide.“We believe in this group,” Sakic said. “I know the group believes in themselves.”NOTES: Blue Jackets forward Brandon Dubinsky and D Ryan Murray were out with lower-body injuries. Columbus D Dean Kukan and forward Boone Jenner each had two assists. … Sakic adamantly maintained he won’t part with either of his two first-round draft picks in any sort of trade-deadline deal. “If there’s a player that can help us, that isn’t going to include one of those (picks) or our top prospects, then we’ll look at that,” Sakic said. … Sakic will address a potential long-term deal with forward Mikko Rantanen over the summer. … Colorado went 1-4 on the homestand.UP NEXTBlue Jackets: At the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday.Avalanche: Start a three-game trip Thursday in Washington. DENVER (AP) — Gabriel Landeskog didn’t feel out of line with this proclamation: His line is the best in hockey. It’s hard to argue given their success. Landeskog broke a tie with 13:46 remaining as part of Colorado’s four-goal third period to help the Avalanche beat the Ottawa Senators 6-3 on Friday night and spoil a two-goal performance from Matt Duchene in his return to Denver.Colorado’s top line of Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen finished with a combined 10 points. Rantanen led the way with a goal and three assists.Asked in front of the crowd if that combination was indeed the best, Landeskog matter-of-factly responded: “Yeah. We are.”Landeskog gave Colorado the lead for good by knocking in his ninth goal of the season off a feed from Rantanen. Colorado outscored the Senators 6-1 after falling behind 2-0 midway through the first period.Samuel Girard, Carl Soderberg and Matt Nieto also scored for Colorado. Girard’s goal was the first by an Avalanche defenseman this season.Still, that Avs line left an impression on the Senators.“It’s the age of super-lines right now and that’s one of them Peter Budaj Jersey Womens ,” Duchene said. “They’re good. They’re all coming into their own.”Especially Rantanen, who has five goals and 15 assists this season.“My linemates are helping me a lot. I love to play on that line with those two,” Rantanen said. “The whole team is playing really good right now.”Duchene was greeted with a mixture of cheers and boos as he took the ice in the place where he spent his first eight-plus seasons. A disgruntled Duchene was traded to Ottawa last November as part of a three-team deal. For this occasion, Duchene rented a suite at the Pepsi Center for his wife, family and friends. He tipped in a shot in the first period and scored again on a break in the second to stake the Senators to a 3-1 lead. It wouldn’t be enough. The Ottawa center was honored by the Avalanche midway through the first period. Duchene clapped in appreciation while his former teammates on the bench banged their sticks against the boards.“Just the signs in warm-up and the people that were being so kind meant a lot to me,” Duchene said. “You touch the puck you’re going to get booed. Avs fans are competitive and you kind of expect it.”Duchene was the third overall pick in 2009 by Colorado and scored 178 goals with the Avalanche, which is seventh on the franchise’s all-time list.It was an awkward parting for Duchene, whose desire to leave was fueled in part by not wanting to be involved in another rebuilding project with Colorado. His Senators squad finished with the second-fewest points last season, while the Avalanche made the playoffs as the No. 8 seed.“What’s in the past is in the past. I’ve moved on Andrew Hammond Jersey Womens ,” Duchene said. “I don’t think I’ve ever been happier playing the game and happier with my personal life.“I’m happy. That’s what I was searching for. That’s what I’ve found. We’ll see what my future holds. I’ve really enjoyed playing in Ottawa.”Notes: Senators F Zack Smith went to the dressing room in the second period with a facial injury after falling on a skate. He’s heading back home. “It’s serious,” Senators coach Guy Boucher said. “It’s broken but I don’t know the extent of it.” … F Ryan Dzingel scored the game’s first goal for Ottawa. … Colorado has a vested interest in the Senators this season. As part of the trade that also included Nashville, the Avs will have Ottawa’s 2019 first-round pick. “It would be nice to get a high pick,” MacKinnon said. “But I expect them to be a good team.” … Goaltender Philipp Grubauer started his first home game for the Avalanche and stopped 21 shots. Craig Anderson made 31 saves for the Senators.UP NEXTSenators: Stop No. 2 on their three-game trip will be Sunday in Vegas.Avalanche: Turn around and play at Minnesota on Saturday. The Avs were 3-8-0 in the second game of a back-to-back last season.

(AP) — The New York Islanders were energized by a boisterous home crowd as they rallied for a win in their first regular season game at Nassau Coliseum in more than 3 1/2 years.Casey Cizikas scored the tiebreaking goal in the third period and the Islanders beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 Saturday night.“It’s incredible, I got goosebumps going down my body right now,” Cizikas said. “It was an emotional game today. From the goaltender out, I thought we played one of our best games of the year. We were physical, we were fast, making smart plays. We had the crowd behind us all night.”Anders Lee and Anthony Beauvillier scored in the second period to tie the score after the Islanders fell behind, and Thomas Greiss stopped 28 shots. Scott Mayfield and Jordan Eberle each had two assists to help New York improve to 10-2-0 against Metropolitan Division opponents this season.Ryan Pulock set up Cizikas at 7:09 of the third period to give the Islanders their first lead of the game and send the sell-out crowd into a frenzy. The right-handed shooting defenseman froze several Blue Jackets skaters as he circled the net and eventually found Cizikas all alone in front.“This is Islanders country plain and simple,” New York coach Barry Trotz said. “(The fans) are extremely passionate about their team.”It was the Islanders’ first regular season game at the Coliseum — the team’s home for 43 years from its inception in 1972 — since April 11, 2015. This was the first of 21 games at the arena as part of a unique arrangement with Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, the Islanders’ home since the 2015-16 season. The Coliseum underwent $165 million in renovations that included; an upgraded locker room Zach Bogosian Jersey Womens , brand new seats throughout the arena, and a modernistic metallic look to the exterior part of the building. Despite all of the changes, the intimacy and infrastructure of the building helped the crowd create a playoff-like atmosphere as chants of ‘Let’s go Islanders’ reverberated throughout the venue.“It was an amazing feeling,” forward Matt Martin said. “We didn’t want to let the fans down — not an easy hockey team to come back against — our fan base was a big reason why we were able to come back. We were able to use them to our advantage the whole night.”Markus Hannikainen and Pierre-Luc Dubois scored for Columbus, which had won two straight. Cam Atkinson had an assist for his 300th career point and extending his point streak to 10 games. Sergei Bobrovsky finished with 26 saves.“A couple of small mistakes when the game was on the line that we need to be better at,” Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said. “It’s just so frustrating the two mistakes that caused that third goal.”Columbus capitalized on two New York turnovers in less than two minutes early in the second period to earn a 2-0 advantage. After Josh Bailey’s floating outlet pass could not be controlled by Beauvillier, Seth Jones launched a slap shot which forced a big rebound opportunity. Hannikainen found the loose puck and got his fourth of the season at 6:46.The Blue Jackets doubled their advantage shortly after when Dubois wired a wrist shot off the crossbar and into the back of the net at 8:33. Atkinson got his milestone point on the play.Lee cut the Blue Jackets’ lead in half with eight minutes remaining in the middle period. The goal was initially waived off by the referee because the puck went off Lee’s hand and then his body as he fell toward the goal, but after a video review the call on the ice was overturned.“When we scored that first goal, you could hear the fans and it carried us the rest of the game,” Mayfiled said. “You could really tell the energy in the building flipped to our side and we held it the rest of the game.”Just 2:25 later Scott Wedgewood Jersey Womens , Beauvillier made up for an earlier mistake, finishing his own rebound to knot the game 2-2. Beauvillier skated up the ice with Mathew Barzal creating a 2-on-1 opportunity, but kept it himself while the Blue Jackets defenseman guarded against the cross-ice pass.NOTES: During the first television timeout in the opening period the Islanders displayed a video tribute to their late owner, Charles Wang. (AP) Tyson Jost and the speedy Colorado Avalanche caught the Buffalo Sabres flatfooted through most of the first 50 minutes on Sunday night.By the time the Sabres could recover, the Avalanche built what proved to be an insurmountable lead in hanging on for a 5-4 victory.”We’re a young, fast team. That’s part of our identity this year,” center Tyson Jost said. ”I like what we did that today, so that’s something we have to use to our advantage because we do have young legs.”The Avalanche ran circles around the Sabres – and defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen in particular – by building a 3-1 lead through the 1:07 mark of the second period on Colin Wilson’s goal. Then, Jost and Gabriel Bourque sealed the win by converting rebounds less than four minutes apart to build the Avalanche lead to 5-2 with 12:57 remaining in a game Colorado never trailed.Wilson had a goal and assist, Matt Nieto scored on a short-handed breakaway and Alexander Kerfoot opened the scoring in the first minute.Jonathan Bernier stopped 28 shots and the Avalanche won for the third time in nine games (3-5-1) to keep pace in a tightly contested race for the Western Conference’s final two wild card spots. The Avalanche now have 64 points, just two behind Minnesota for the last playoff position.Ryan O’Reilly had a goal and two assists in Buffalo’s first game without leading scorer Jack Eichel http://www.officialislanders.com/authentic-adidas-mathew-barzal-jersey , who will miss between four and six weeks with a sprained right ankle. Eichel was hurt in a 4-2 win at Boston on Saturday.Eichel’s absence wasn’t the issue for the Sabres. They were instead undone by a meltdown from their top defenseman, Ristolainen, who was on the ice for all five Colorado goals. The trouble began when Kerfoot scored 43 seconds in by tapping in Wilson’s pass on a two-man breakaway after both sneaked in behind Ristolainen and Nathan Beaulieu. Nieto’s short-handed goal that put Colorado up 2-1 came after Ristolainen muffed on keeping the puck in at the Avalanche blue line. Then Wilson’s 100th career goal was set up by captain Gabriel Landeskog, who forced Ristolainen to give up the puck in his own zone.”It’s just a bad game and it should not happen,” said Ristolainen, who was benched for much of the remainder of the second period.Coach Phil Housley didn’t mince words when asked about the defenseman’s struggles.”I think you saw the game,” Housley said. ”I think there’s some passengers tonight that weren’t prepared to play the game.”Evander Kane capped Buffalo’s scoring with 2:52 remaining. Casey Nelson and Benoit Pouliot scored short-handed goals and Robin Lehner stopped 22 shots for Buffalo. The Avalanche made up for the absence of their leading scorer, Nathan MacKinnon http://www.officialislanders.com/authentic-adidas-nick-leddy-jersey , who missed his sixth game with an upper body injury. The five goals against Buffalo matched Colorado’s combined output in going 1-3 in its previous four outings.”At times, it was a little bit of a strange game,” Avalanche coach Jared Bednar said of an outing in which the teams combined for three short-handed and two power-play goals. ”It wasn’t pretty, but it’s a big win for our team, no question.”Bednar said MacKinnon has been skating at home and has a chance to return soon.NOTES: The three short-handed combined goals scored wasn’t even a season-high for a Sabres game. Buffalo and the New York Islanders combined for two each in a Sabres’ 6-3 loss on Oct. 17. … Colorado played its 1,500th road game in team history and 2,999th overall, including the franchise’s tenure as the Quebec Nordiques. The Avs improved their all-time road record to 599-714-64 and 123 ties. … Sabres top defensive prospect Brendan Guhle returned to action with AHL Rochester after missing nearly a month with a lower body injury.UP NEXTAvalanche: Return home where they’ve won nine straight (one shy of matching franchise record) to host the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday.Sabres: Host Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday.— BOSTON (AP) — Mackenzie Blackwood hardly looked like a rookie in net for New Jersey.Blackwood stopped 40 shots for his first NHL victory Nick Foligno Jersey , Blake Coleman scored twice and the Devils beat the Boston Bruins 5-2 on Thursday night.Blackwood had plenty of help, even with leading scorer Taylor Hall out of the lineup, as the Devils took the lead 25 seconds into the game on a goal by Damon Severson.“The team played awesome for me — really made my job a lot easier,” said Blackwood, who was making his second career start and playing in his fourth NHL game.Kyle Palmieri added his team-high 19th goal for the Devils, who won on the road for just the fourth time this season.Nico Hirschier had a goal and an assist and Andy Greene had a pair of assists as New Jersey got its first win in Boston in five years.“We did a good job for the most part playing with the lead and I thought we were pretty consistent throughout the game,” Devils coach John Hynes said. “It was nice to see Blackwood get his first win.”Hynes said Blackwood, who’s 6-foot-4 Authentic Oliver Bjorkstrand Jersey , covers a lot of area and has shown tremendous composure in his limited duty.“Now you have a big mountain of a man who’s in the net and has great athleticism but also plays with poise and is in good position. That’s tough to beat,” Hynes said.Patrice Bergeron and Chris Wagner scored for Boston, and Jaroslav Halak had 28 saves.Severson’s early goal on a wrist shot from the right circle gave Blackwood a lead the Devils never relinquished.“Obviously we didn’t want to start the way we started, giving up a goal in the first minute of the game,” Halak said. “It’s always hard to keep the focus after that.”Hall, who has 11 goals and 26 assists, was out with a lower-body injury and did not make the trip. The Devils were outshot 42-33 but adjusted to his absence. The Bruins had their biggest advantage in the second period with 19 shots to New Jersey’s nine, but only Wagner got one past Blackwood — a one-timer 15:07 into the period to pull Boston within 2-1.“When they had some pushes Ryan Murray Jersey , he made some big saves so it was great to see,” Hynes said.Coleman got the two-goal lead back for the Devils after he blocked a slap shot by Torey Krug at the blue line and outraced Brandon Carlo to the rebound for a breakaway, getting Halak with a backhand 4:15 into the third.Hischier scored 12:43 into the third and Coleman scored into an empty net with 46 seconds remaining.“We just need to learn from this one,” Halak said. “We kind of kept chasing the game and when you’re doing that, it’s usually losing hockey.”The Devils went up 2-0 with 4:35 left in the first on a power-play goal by Palmieri, whose slap shot from the right point bounced off Halak and hit Carlo, then bounced back over Halak into the net.NOTES: Blackwood was called up from AHL Binghamton on Dec. 17 after starter Cory Schneider went on injured reserve with an abdominal strain. … Boston captain Zdeno Chara returned after missing 19 games with an MCL injury in his left knee. … D Kevan Miller returned after 13 games with cartilage injury to his larynx suffered Nov. 26 in Toronto. … LW Jake DeBrusk had been out with a concussion and played for the first time since Dec. 6.UP NEXTDevils: Host the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.Bruins: Visit the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night.

(AP) — Pekka Rinne continued his dominance over Tampa Bay and tied a record with one of his boyhood heroes in the process.Ryan Johansen had a goal and an assist, Rinne stopped 29 shots, and the Nashville Predators beat the Lightning 3-2 on Monday night. It was Rinne’s 319th victory, tying him with Miikka Kiprusoff for most NHL wins by a Finnish-born goaltender.“For sure it’s a cool thing,” he said. “Kiprusoff is one of my heroes for sure. I got to play against him and things like that, but when I was a teenager growing up, I looked up to him. To me, he’s the greatest Finnish goalie. It’s pretty cool that I’m tied with him.”Rinne improved to 9-0-1 in his career against the Lightning. His best save came on Brayden Point’s breakaway in the first period. He also denied J.T. Miller and Victor Hedman in an 11-second span late in the second after the Predators were hemmed in their zone for a prolonged period of time following an icing.Kyle Turris and Filip Forsberg also scored for Nashville, which has won two straight.“We know that they’re one of the top teams in the league, and it ended up being a good game, a good matchup,” Nashville coach Peter Laviolette said.Hedman and Nikita Kucherov had the goals for Tampa Bay, which snapped its two-game winning streak. Louis Domingue finished with 31 saves.Forsberg gave the Predators a 2-1 lead at 6:43 of the second. Skating into the Lightning zone on the right side,Mattias Ekholm left a drop pass for his Swedish countryman just inside the blue line. Forsberg skated to the left faceoff dot and snapped a quick wrist shot high to Domingue’s glove side.“We have to have better starts,” Lightning forward Alex Killorn said. “We haven’t had great starts as of late. If we can do that, it will be a much different game for us.”Johansen made it 3-1 at 10:16 of the second when he tipped Craig Smith’s wrist shot from the right side over Domingue’s stick.“I think for a fan, tonight’s game was awesome,” Johansen said. “They got to see two of the top teams in the league right now going toe to toe. We did a lot of good things. They did good things. Ultimately Keith Yandle Jersey , we found a way to get the win done.”Late in the second, Killorn had an apparent goal disallowed as he was sent to the penalty box for tripping Nashville defenseman Ryan Ellis.“They dictated the pace in the first half, and we dictated in the second half,” Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper said. “We both scored three, one was called back. That was the ultimate difference in the game.”Kucherov pulled the Lightning within one at 3:25 of the third. Point carried the puck in on the right side and found Kucherov skating through the slot, where he made a move on Rinne before beating him with a backhand.Rinne gloved down another attempt by Kucherov all alone in front with 7:31 left in the third to preserve the Nashville lead.In the final seconds of the third, Ekholm pulled a puck off of the goal line after Hedman’s shot hit Rinne and trickled behind the Finnish netminder toward the goal line.Hedman scored the game’s first goal at 5:10 of the opening period. Carrying the puck into the Nashville zone on the left side, Hedman pulled up at the top of the left faceoff circle and ripped a slap shot over Rinne’s glove.Turris tied it with 4:41 left in the first. Tampa Bay killed of 53 seconds of a Predators two-man advantage, but with just 3 seconds remaining in the second penalty, Turris beat Domingue with a slap shot from the right faceoff dot just inside the near post.Turris has goals in back-to-back games.NOTES: Lightning D Erik Cernak picked up the secondary assist on Hedman’s goal, registering his first career NHL point. … Tampa Bay D Ryan McDonagh got his 200th career assist. … Ekholm has 100 career NHL assists. … Nashville D Roman Josi has four assists in his last three games.UP NEXTLightning: Host Florida on Wednesday night.Predators: Host St. Louis on Wednesday night. Behind the mask is a mind filled with a web of a thousand thoughts, worries and a singular focus of what it takes to win a game. Then the next game, then the one after that.”There is no shut-off for a goaltender,” retired goalie Brian Boucher said. ”The mind doesn’t shut off.”A starting NHL goaltender bears a burden unlike any position in hockey and few others in sports, and the resulting pressure builds up over the course of a season. By this time of year, with the playoffs on the horizon, No. 1 goalies have grinded through almost six months of work and are battling fatigue that threatens to derail their team’s hopes.Andrei Vasilevskiy of Tampa Bay is going through it for the first time while Braden Holtby of the Washington Capitals is used to it by now. Goalies of all ages have no choice but to manage the physical and mental hurdles.”It’s one of those things that you’ve got find ways to make sure you’re prepared and ready to play every game,” Holtby said. ”As a goaltender Authentic Nick Bjugstad Jersey , there’s not much room to take nights off.”It’s worse for the goalies whose teams can’t afford to start a backup. Boucher started the final 13 games for Philadelphia in 2010 to help them make the playoffs, Jonathan Quick started 20 of the final 21 games for the Los Angeles Kings when they tried to make a furious push to make it in 2015 and Kari Lehtonen could be counted on to play the final nine games of the Dallas Stars‘ season now as they claw for a spot.”You’ll go through the whole night thinking about tomorrow, show up to the rink in the morning thinking about tonight and then you show up to the game thinking about the game,” said Boucher, now an analyst for NBC Sports. ”Not until that horn goes off at the very end can you finally go, `Whew,’ and take a deep breath and hopefully it’s in a celebration with your teammates. …. You have a shower, you feel good about things, you go home, you kind of decompress and then the next day it starts again: the butterflies, the nerves, the thinking about your opponent. And that’s the mental fatigue that comes into it.”That’s what Vasilevskiy is dealing with at age 23, 58 starts into his first season as the full-time starter and the league leader in victories.”Tiredness is something that I probably never faced before,” he told The Tampa Bay Times. The same goes for Winnipeg goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who is between the pipes for meaningful games and on the cusp of his first playoff appearance. Jets goaltending coach Wade Flaherty talks to Hellebuyck almost daily about what he needs to be successful, and the staff pays careful attention to making sure the 24-year-old is good to go.Coach Paul Maurice said the Jets are aware of the balance between rhythm and rest but aren’t holding Hellebuyck back.”There’s a fatigue component that a No. 1 goaltender also has to embrace,” Maurice said. ”He has to learn how to play when he doesn’t feel 100 percent right because that’s basically going to be his life.”Winnipeg has been able to give Hellebuyck blocks of two or three days completely off, a rarity for top goalies this time of year. The Nashville Predators have a big enough lead atop the Central Division that they can afford to lighten Pekka Rinne’s workload down the stretch Vincent Trocheck Jersey , which could be a huge benefit.”I like thinking outside the box,” former goalie Martin Biron said. ”You may have a Friday-Saturday game, have a Tuesday game, have a Thursday game. You can play your starter on Friday-Saturday and not play him on Tuesday so he gets Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (off) and then he gets ready for the weekend again for the Thursday. There’s a lot more days to be able to decompress and really think about how to reset and re-prepare.”Holtby got a 10-day reset from a month-plus of struggles as Philipp Grubauer started four games in a row. Having a reliable backup is a luxury Washington has – and Holtby doesn’t like taking days off, either. Toronto starter Frederik Andersen recently joked that he’s more tired of being asked if he’s tired than he is from facing the most shots in the league.Practice shots, warmups, travel and mental and physical preparation are also part of the wear and tear. Analyst Justin Goldman of The Goalie Guild said those can be spaced out over weeks and months.”Anything you can do to get a little bit of extra sleep over the course of the season is absolutely monumental when it comes time for the playoff push,” Goldman said.Biron, who started 59 games for Philadelphia in 2007-08 and backed up Henrik Lundqvist when the New York Rangers realized the ”King” needed more time off, figures 60 is the perfect number for a starter. For someone like Vasilevskiy who can’t afford to learn and wait for next year, Boucher said he hopes a more relaxed market like Tampa Bay helps now and the rush of the playoffs gets him through the grind in a few weeks.”I think Vasilevskiy’s going to be fine just because you watch his physical attributes, they’re through the roof,” Boucher said. ”So the physical side doesn’t look like it’s an issue. Now it’s his time to shine.”—

The Columbus Blue Jackets‘ offseason move that received the most attention was the addition of center Riley Nash. Not much attention was paid to the acquisition of Anthony Duclair. But Duclair is making people stand up and take notice on the ice in his first season in Columbus. He certainly attracted plenty of attention with his goal in the Blue Jackets’ 6-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night that set social media abuzz and made all the highlight shows. At 17:53 of the first period Jonathan Drouin Jersey , Duclair skated down the ice to the right dot after taking a pass from defenseman Ryan Murray. Duclair lost an edge while making a cut and, while on his knees, gathered the puck, got back up, fell again after he was tripped, but was able to shoot the puck past Flyers goaltender Calvin Pickard for his second goal of the season.Article continues below ...“It was a nice goal. I don’t know how he did it,” Blue Jackets center Pierre-Luc Dubois said. “I don’t think he could do it again, but if he could, it would be great for us and great for the fans. That was an amazing goal. I’ve never seen a goal like that in my life.”“I was pretty lucky,” Duclair said.Duclair will put his skills on display again Saturday night when the Blue Jackets (4-2-0) and the 23-year-old winger face the Chicago Blackhawks (3-1-2), one of the two teams he was with last season, at Nationwide Arena. After signing a one-year http://www.officialcanadiensprostore.com/authentic-adidas-karl-alzner-jersey , free agent contract with the Blue Jackets on July 4, Duclair made the opening day roster and so far, has seized upon the chance to play mostly on a line with center Alexander Wennberg and winger Nick Foligno.Duclair has four points (two goals, two assists) in six games after producing eight points in 23 games with the Blackhawks last year before he was sent to the Arizona Coyotes.“I’m getting an opportunity to play with (Wennberg) and (Foligno) here,” Duclair said. “I definitely want to stay with those two guys. They’re very skilled, very smart. We complement each other well.”Cam Atkinson scored two goals in the win over the Flyers. He’s tied with Josh Anderson for the team lead with four goals. Artemi Panarin, also a former Blackhawks player, had two assists to boost his team-best point total to nine (three goals, six assists). The Blue Jackets scored three goals in the second period after falling behind in the first.“We got out legs under us after the first period and started playing our game, our style in the second and third periods,” Atkinson said. The Blue Jackets rebounded from a humbling 8-2 road loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night. They’ve scored at least five goals for the third time in their last four games.“We have a lot of things to iron out and it’s not going to happen overnight,” Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said. “We’re not going to go into any panic mode. We’re going to go about our business and try to get better each day.”The Blackhawks had scored at least three goals in each of their first five games Jonathan Bernier Jersey Womens , all of those in overtime, before losing 4-1 at home on Thursday night to the Arizona Coyotes.Jonathan Toews and Alex DeBrincat have contributed points in each of Chicago’s first six games. Eight Blackhawks players each have four points or more.Chicago’s trip to Columbus is in the midst of a stretch of three games in four days. The Blackhawks will return home to face the Lightning on Sunday.Corey Crawford is slated to make his second straight start in goal for the Blackhawks after appearing for the first time since December 2017 in the loss to the Coyotes. He finished with 27 saves in a losing effort. “I think the most important thing is just to get back to playing and winning hockey games,” Crawford said. “It’s another game. Just trying to get back to the routine.”“It’s just a matter of getting more games to shake off the rust” he said.“I think the more you play and the more you get into games, the little details are what make a big difference,” Crawford said. “The more games I play it’s going to feel better. I’ve just got to work hard and make sure I’m in the right spot to give myself the best chance to make saves.”One of Crawford’s best stops against Arizona came on a third-period breakaway.“I thought he was unreal,” Toews said. “Stopped a couple breakaways, though we just kept testing him with those tough ones. It’s almost to be expected. He comes in, so confident and relaxed and just plays hockey.”Defenseman Brandon Davidson is expected to make his regular-season Blackhawks debut in the third defensive pairing with Jan Rutta. The 27-year-old, who made the team on a professional trying during the preseason, has played in the NHL with the Montreal Canadians, Edmonton Oilers and New York Islanders.Davidson will replace Brandon Manning. COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Artemi Panarin and Seth Jones were gassed Mike Reilly Jersey , unable to get off the ice during overtime after weathering a push by Philadelphia that ended with a slick save from Sergei Bobrovsky.Panarin didn’t look fatigued. He turned on the speed, broke to the left wing past Claude Giroux and slid a cross-ice pass to Jones, who tapped it in to give the Columbus Blue Jackets a 4-3 win over the Flyers on Thursday night.“He just put it on tee for me and gave me a wide-open net,” said Jones, who got his third overtime goal this season and set a franchise record with the seventh of his Blue Jackets career. The goal 4:27 into overtime enabled the Blue Jackets to rebound from a loss Tuesday night to Pittsburgh and hop over the idle Penguins and Carolina Hurricanes into third place in the Metropolitan Division.Panarin also scored in the second period, Oliver Bjorkstrand and Scott Harrington each had goals, and Bobrovsky made 28 saves.Travis Sanheim had two goals, Jakub Voracek also scored and Elliott had 36 saves as his two-game winning streak came to an end. Elliott is the seventh goalie used by Philadelphia this season, and the Flyers will set an NHL record when recently acquired Cam Talbot starts Saturday at New Jersey to raise that number to eight.“I thought we kept them under control for the most part,” said Elliott, who slipped to 8-8-0 on the season.Sanheim beat Bobrovsky off a nice feed from Voracek to tie it with 6:48 remaining.“We were in total control when it’s 3-2,” Columbus coach John Tortorella said. “When they score I think we got on our heels. It just looked like we were tentative after they tied it. I was thrilled we get to the overtime. Then I think the ice opens up and it’s mayhem when you play that 3-on-3.”Both teams had two shots in the overtime period Womens Paul Byron Jersey , but Philadelphia looked more threatening until Panarin broke away with the clock ticking down.“He’s the best player I’ve seen when he’s tired,” Tortorella said of the 27-year-old Russian star, who will be an unrestricted free agent after the season.Columbus is 8-4 in its last 12 games and 9-3 against Metro Division teams.“I think it was good for us to have a win like this, so we know moving forward that no matter how the third period goes or how the game’s going, we can hunker down and get the job done,” Harrington said.NOTES: McQuaid played the 500th game of his career but only his second in Columbus. … Columbus signed F Zac Dalpe to two-year, two-way contract extension. … G Carter Hart missed his third game with a lower-body injury. … Bjorkstrand appeared to score another goal in the first period, but it was waved off because he kicked it and it went in off the skate of a Philadelphia player. A few minutes later, a Flyers goal was disallowed because Voracek was offside bringing the puck into the zone. … Bjorkstrand has points in the last four games. … Flyers F Sean Couturier has 12 points in his past eight games. … Sanheim also scored two goals against the Blue Jackets on Dec. 6, a game in which Jones also had an overtime goal.UP NEXTPhiladelphia: At New Jersey on Friday.Columbus: Hosts Edmonton on Saturday.

Getting shots on goal hasn’t been the problem for the Arizona Coyotes.Getting them into the goal has been the issue Womens Craig Smith Jersey , one that might not get any easier to solve Tuesday night when they start a four-game road trip by aiming pucks at Minnesota Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk.Although Minnesota (1-2-2) lost 4-2 Monday night in Nashville with backup Alex Stalock between the pipes, Dubnyk isn’t the reason for its slow start. All he’s done in four games is post a .934 save percentage, going 1-1-2 with a 2.64 goals-against average.Article continues below ...He’s faced an average of 41.8 shots per game, including a ridiculous 57 Saturday in a 5-4 overtime loss to Carolina. Without Dubnyk, the Wild probably don’t steal a point in that game or in a 2-1 OT setback to Vegas on Oct. 6, when Dubnyk stopped 41 of 42 shots.“He’s been our No. 1 star in all four games that he’s played,” Minnesota coach Bruce Boudreau said following the loss against the Hurricanes. “In a realistic world, you’re happy you got a point out of that.”For his part, Dubnyk isn’t worried about the Wild’s slow start, not just to the season Filip Forsberg Jersey , but to games. They coughed up the first goal Monday night for the fourth time in five games, and even though they tied it after 20 minutes, they spent most of the game’s remainder in chase mode again.“I think we’re all proud in here and we all know how good we can be, so we have just got to figure it out,” Dubnyk said. “We know we have a great group in here. I think we all agree we can be better.”As for Arizona (1-3-0), its mission is simple, according to coach Rick Tocchet: Don’t allow frustration to govern your game. He gave that speech minutes after it outshot Buffalo 36-23 Saturday, but couldn’t beat backup goalie Linus Ullmark in a 3-0 setback. The Coyotes have driven play in the early going, putting 146 shots on net to the opponents’ 93. But aside from a 3-2 win on Wednesday in Anaheim, they haven’t scored a goal.“I know everybody’s frustrated Juuse Saros Jersey ,” Tocchet said. “The coaching staff’s frustrated. Everybody’s frustrated we’re not scoring goals. You’re trying your best to figure it out, but at the end of the day, you’ve just got to be able to will yourself a goal.”Arizona has pumped at least 30 shots on goal in every game, the first time it’s done that in the first four games since 1985-86, when the franchise was playing in Winnipeg.Part of the problem might be the lack of proven snipers on the roster. Only two players have scored 30 goals in a season. Michael Grabner is eight years removed from doing it with the New York Islanders and Alex Galchenyuk, who scored 30 three years ago for Montreal, is currently sidelined with a lower-body injury.“I’d like to see somebody score a goal,” Tocchet said. “We’ve had point-blank shots in the slot. You just got to keep shooting, I guess. You got to work at your game. I don’t have a recipe other than that.” GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona rookie Conor Garland was challenging for a roster spot before he broke a hand in training camp. Healthy again Kyle Turris Jersey , he is making his mark.Garland was credited with two goals — the first appearing to just graze his uniform — and Darcy Kuemper made 23 saves for his first shutout of the season and 12th overall to help the Coyotes beat the New York Rangers 5-0 on Sunday to end a three-game losing streak.“If you look at his goals, too, I don’t care if they go off his pants or not, he’s in front of the net,” Arizona coach Rick Tocchet, who recorded his 100th NHL victory. “It doesn’t matter how they go in. I have to give him a lot of credit because he is in front of the net.”Garland was stationed just outside the crease when Oliver Ekman-Larsson’s wrister from inside the blue line got past Henrik Lundqvist on a power play to open the scoring at 7:19 of the first period, the beginning of another tough game for Lundqvist.Alex Galchenyuk had a goal and two assists, and Mario Kempe and Clayton Keller also scored as the Coyotes scored all their goals in the first two period while winning for the second time in their last nine home gamesGalchenyuk has 10 points in his last eight games and Garland has three goals in his last two games and five in his last seven. He was recalled from Tucson of the American Hockey League early last month.“I feel more comfortable every game,” Garland said. “You get to see film, talk to the coaches after a game and pick up new things. It is slowing down. It feels good.”Lundqvist stopped 27 of 32 shots before being replaced by Alexander Georgiev with 3:22 left in the second period. Lundqvist also was pulled in his last start Youth Matt Irwin Jersey , a 7-2 loss to Pittsburgh on Wednesday night. The Rangers have been outscored 18-3 while losing three straight games and have lost six of eight and nine of 12. They were shut out for the third time this season and have given up four power play goals in the last two games — three in a 6-1 loss at Colorado on Friday night.“We’re fragile mentally and physically right now, the ways things are going,” Rangers coach David Quinn said.“There are a whole heap of problems, and we have to address them. We had no legs today. They had way more jump than we did. It was every man. We just didn’t have any energy. You can’t play with no energy in this league.”The Coyotes had scored only four goals in their last three games and had been held to one or fewer goals in seven of their last 12, including a 3-2 overtime loss to New Jersey on Friday.“We wanted a good bounce-back game, and it starts with the first period,” Garland said.Kempe made it 2-0 exactly two minutes later when the Rangers could not clear a bouncing puck near the left circle. Kempe fired a wrist shot that beat Lundqvist high to the blocker side.Garland struck again at 6:34 of the second, when a shot from the slot deflected off Kevin Shattenkirk’s stick and fluttered past Lundqvist. Galchenyuk’s poke check at his own blue line started the rush.“We’re not starting very well, and it’s snow-balling on us,” New York’s Marc Staal said.Keller and Galchenyuk added goals in second Womens Mattias Ekholm Jersey , with Keller’s shot through the five-hole sending Lundqvist to the bench.NOTES: Rangers center Kevin Hayes, who is second on the team with 34 points, did not play for the second straight game. He suffered what is believed to be mid-body injury when he ran into the boards in a Dec. 14 game against the Coyotes. … The Rangers played the eighth game of a stretch in which they are to play 12 games in 23 days in four time zones. They are 2-4-2 thus far. … Kuemper’s mask was knocked off by Brandon Smith’s wrist shot 1:30 into the second period, and play was stopped while he got a new one. … The Coyotes swept the two-game season series after overcoming a 3-0 lead for a 4-3 overtime victory in New York on Dec. 14. … Tocchet was asked about his 100th victory: “It took a long time,” he said, smiling. It came in his 272nd game over three-plus seasons, the first two with Tampa Bay.UP NEXTRangers: At Vegas on Tuesday night.Coyotes: At Vancouver on Thursday night.
