(AP) When All-Pro defensive end Calais Campbell re-watched his first season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, he noticed a recurring issue: The vaunted defense had chances to come up big late in games and failed.

It happened in four of Jacksonville’s final five losses, including – and most memorably – in the AFC championship game at New England.

Campbell felt as if the unit also could and should have done more against the Los Angeles Rams, Arizona and Tennessee.

”When I study the tape and those situations, I realize that as good as we are we have so much room for growth,” Campbell said.

With Campbell leading the way, ”finishing” has become the defense’s motto for 2018. The Jags expect to be better in those fourth-quarter situations, knowing one stop could be the difference in a league that has a penchant for tight games.

”We have to have that mentality of crunch time,” Pro Bowl linebacker Telvin Smith said. ”We know we are not front-runners; we can bang with you. We just have to put our foot on your throat and keep it there from the beginning to the end.”

Jacksonville’s defense was one of the best in the league in 2017. The group ranked second in points (16.8) and yards allowed (286.1) and first in yards per play (4.61), passing yards (169.9) Zach Werenski Jersey , third down rate (33.6 percent) and red zone rate (39.3 percent).

The Jaguars also had 55 sacks and set a franchise record with 33 takeaways.

In some games, it wasn’t enough.

Jacksonville had New England reeling in late January, leading 20-10 early in the fourth quarter. But the defense allowed Tom Brady to convert a third-and-18 play that led to a touchdown and later provided little resistance while trying to prevent the go-ahead score.

In the regular-season finale at Tennessee, the Jaguars trailed 15-10 with about four minutes remaining but gave up two first downs that helped the Titans to run out the clock and essentially seal the victory.

The defense also faltered twice down the stretch at Arizona in late November. The Jags led 17-16 in the fourth before getting torched for a long touchdown pass. They tied the game on the ensuing possession and kept it that way until Blaine Gabbert connected on two first-down passes in the final 16 seconds to set up a game-winning 57-yard field goal.

Those three losses came on the road. The Rams found similar success against the Jags in Jacksonville.

They were up 24-17 with about seven minutes to play and essentially put the game away by picking up three first downs that got them into field-goal range.

”It’s not a conditioning thing. It’s a mental thing,” Jaguars safety Tashaun Gipson said. ”That is something that is easily correctable. You just have to go back to the drawing board and figure out what it is. It is nothing wrong with what we are doing, us schematically. It is not that we are not in shape. It is just we have to have that mentality.

”You have to see the blood in the water. You have to go attack.”

The Jaguars expect to see gains from returning 10 defensive starters and having all of them in the same scheme for a second straight year. They also anticipate continued improvement from star cornerback Jalen Ramsey as well as linebacker Myles Jack and defensive end Yannick Ngakoue.

All that experience has Jacksonville making offseason tweaks to blitz schemes and third-down packages – and waiting for another late-game shot.

”You have to go out there when you have an opportunity, when it presents itself, whether it is a preseason game or during the regular season,” coach Doug Marrone said. ”Then, you have to step up and do it and that will prove that you are able to do those things.

”I think that until you do that in those situations http://www.seahawksauthorizedshops.com/authentic-byron-maxwell-jersey , there is always going to be a question mark. But having the thought of wanting to do that obviously helps because it keeps you aware of that situation.”

—

Jed Lowrie loves the feeling of coming through with a clutch hit late to lift his team, and he just keeps showing a knack for it.

He is a big reason the A’s are rarely out of games even when down by a couple of runs.

The Oakland second baseman delivered his 12th game-winning RBI after filling in beautifully at third base during Matt Chapman’s absence, hitting a three-run double in the decisive sixth to help rally the Athletics past the San Diego Padres 6-2 on Tuesday night.

If that’s not enough to make Lowrie an All-Star for the first time in an 11-year career and at age 34, manager Bob Melvin might just throw his hands up in disbelief.

”It would be the icing on the cake. I feel like I’ve been close a couple times and haven’t been there,” Lowrie said. ”So that would be something I would always be able to say.”

Mark Canha added a solo homer in the sixth and Chad Pinder connected in the seventh.

The A’s finally got to San Diego starter Clayton Richard (7-8). Pinder walked to start the sixth as the first five hitters reached base. Khris Davis followed Lowrie’s double with a run-scoring single before Canha’s 11th home run, after a double play.

Emilio Pagan (2-0) pitched 1 1/3 innings for the win in relief of A’s starter Chris Bassitt.

Chapman went 0 for 3 in his return from the disabled list after missing 16 games with a recurring right hand injury that began bothering him during the offseason. He had played in 149 straight games before the DL stint.

Wil Myers hit a run-scoring double in the fifth right after Eric Hosmer’s RBI groundout got the Padres on the board.

Bassitt, who has just one win in five starts since being called up last month, escaped jams in the first and third innings as the Padres stranded five baserunners. The A’s made a pair of forceouts at home in the third, including first baseman Matt Olson’s nifty throw after a backhanded stop.

Myers’ double chased Bassitt. He was tagged for two runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings, struck out six and walked three.

Richard allowed five runs and six hits Malik Jefferson Color Rush Jersey , walked a season-high five batters over six innings and struck out two in his second straight defeat.

”Defense picked me up early in the game but that’s the story of it was just too many three-ball counts and then put too many guys on with the walk,” Richard said.

Oakland, which had its six-game winning streak snapped Sunday by Cleveland, won for the 13th time in 16 games despite grounding into five double plays.

”As much as any team I’ve ever had, at least at this point, there’s no panic when we’re down,” the skipper said.

Leadoff hitter Travis Jankowski had three hits for San Diego, which will conclude the short two-game series Wednesday having played 23 of its last 28 away from Petco Park.

BIG MAC HONORED

Padres bench coach Mark McGwire, a former A’s slugger who spent his first 11 1/2 big league seasons in the East Bay before being traded to the Cardinals in 1997, was honored before the game as part of Oakland’s 50th anniversary season festivities in a ceremony at home plate with team President Dave Kaval. Big Mac received his green No. 25 commemorative A’s jersey and the Bash Brother tipped his cap to the cheering crowd.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Padres: RHP Jordan Lyles Authentic Filip Forsberg Jersey , scratched in the bottom of the first inning June 23 just before his scheduled start and on the DL with inflammation in his pitching elbow, played catch with the relievers and depending how he felt afterward the Padres would decide when he is ready to throw off a mound. … The Padres placed RHP Kirby Yates on the paternity list and recalled RHP Colten Brewer from Triple-A El Paso.

Athletics: RHP Trevor Cahill, who has an impingement in his throwing elbow, pitched in the Arizona League and is likely to make another rehab appearance Sunday or Monday before potentially joining the A’s in Houston early next week. … RHP Daniel Mengden (sprained right foot) threw a bullpen session and if all was OK by Wednesday the A’s planned to send him to Triple-A Nashville for a rehab assignment. … Oakland optioned INF Franklin Barreto to Nashville to clear roster room for Chapman’s return.

UP NEXT

Padres: RHP Luis Perdomo (1-2, 8.36 ERA), a taxi squad player, will be called up Wednesday to make his fifth start of 2018.

Athletics: LHP Sean Manaea (8-6, 3.38) is coming off a masterful June during which he went 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA in five starts.

—

Womens Arizona Cardinals Jerseys

Record-setting wins don’t get much hollower than Florida’s victory Saturday night.

The Panthers were eliminated from playoff contention Authentic Alexander Wennberg Jersey , even after Vincent Trocheck scored late in the third period to help hold off the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 and set a franchise mark with 27 home victories.

Florida’s slim playoff hopes ended when Philadelphia beat the New York Rangers 5-0 earlier in the day. The Panthers took out their frustration on the Sabres, going ahead 3-0 in the first period.

The Panthers’ season ends in Boston on Sunday.

”We wanted to go in tomorrow and have a chance to clinch a spot in the playoffs,” coach Bob Boughner said. ”It’s tough to have to rely on other teams. We know an hour before the game our playoff hopes were done. It was tough going into this game and getting the job done tonight.”

Jonathan Huberdeau scored a power-play goal for the Panthers. Colton Sceviour had a goal and an assist and Nick Bjugstad also scored.

”I think everybody in here is disappointed. The whole goal this year was to make the playoffs,” Trocheck said. ”Everybody coming into the game, we were all preparing as if it was going to be a do-or-die game. Kind of went into it the same way we would have gone into it if we were in the playoffs.”

James Reimer made 38 saves in place of Roberto Luongo, who had played three games in four nights Authentic Michael Dickson Jersey , including his 1,000th game Thursday. The Panthers also played without points leader Aleksander Barkov, who injured his shoulder late in the third period in Thursday’s game against the Bruins. Barkov will also miss Sunday’s finale.

Ryan O’Reilly, Sam Reinhart and Jason Pominville scored for Buffalo. Chad Johnson allowed three goals on 12 shots in the first period and was replaced to start the second with Adam Wilcox. Wilcox finished with 14 stops in his NHL debut.

”The guys did a good job battling for me,” Wilcox said. ”They knew it was my debut tonight. A lot of respect for them battling for me for two periods. I just wanted to give the guys a chance to get back in the game, and they did a good job of doing that.”

The Panthers were cruising but the Sabres mounted a final flurry http://www.brownsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-baker-mayfield-jersey , scoring two goals 21 seconds apart late in the third period to make it 3-2. Pominville scored on a wrist shot with 4:30 left, and Reinhart scored shortly after.

”Just to be blunt and honest, that was typically what our season was,” coach Phil Housley said. ”We couldn’t come out and start on time, and then we get the urgency to push back and get back into a game and make a game of it.”

Trocheck’s empty-netter with 1:23 left made it score 4-2. O’Reilly’s power-play tally with 15.8 left closed the gap to 4-3.

The Panthers took a 1-0 lead when Huberdeau deflected in a shot from Trocheck during a 5-on-3 power-play at 3:04 of the first. Sceviour made it 2-0 when he deflected a shot by Frank Vatrano at 10:59. Bjugstad then slid a puck under Johnson at 13:39.

NOTES: Retiring Panthers F Radim Vrbata played his last game. Vrbata played 1,057 career games Womens Landon Collins Jersey , including 42 with the Panthers. ”I’m glad I got a chance to play and have my family here. My wife, my sons, they got to see me one more time.” … O’Reilly set the NHL record for faceoff wins in a single season with 1,269 – passing Rod Brind’Amour (1,268 FOW in 2005-06). ”It’s special. It’s something I take a lot of pride in,” O’Reilly said. … A moment of silence was observed before the game in memory of the lives lost in a traffic accident Friday night involving the Humboldt Broncos Steelers Authentic Jerseys , a youth hockey team from Canada.

UP NEXT

Sabres: Completed their season.

Panthers: Visit Boston Bruins on Sunday.

—

The Latest on the NFL concussion settlement (all times local):

5:10 p.m.

Lawyers representing former NFL players in their concussion claims estimate payouts from the settlement with the league will likely reach $1.4 billion.

The lawyers filed a status update Wednesday saying an actuary estimates the approved payouts to date and the number of players who had filed to be a part of the settlement are outpacing any previous estimate. The actuary says participation rates are 21 percent higher than estimated when the settlement was reached.

The $400 million increase in estimated payout came after a judge Wednesday denied for now a request from the league to appoint a special investigator to look into what the league said was extensive fraudulent claims against the settlement fund.

Judge Anita Brody says, as of now, the audit process seems to be appropriately ferreting out and denying those claims.

3:40 p.m.

A federal judge has denied a request from the NFL to appoint a special investigator to look into what the league says is extensive fraudulent claims on the $1 billion concussion settlement.

Judge Anita Brody wrote in her ruling Wednesday that the league's attorneys have demonstrated that there is "sufficient evidence of probable fraud to warrant serious concern." Brody says the already in place special master and claims administrator have effectively ferreted out those claims.

The league cited an independent study it said found more than 400 claims had been recommended for denial based on evidence of fraud by attorneys, doctors and former players attempting to cheat the program.

Plaintiffs' lawyers say they support Brody's decision, noting more than $485 million has already been approved for valid claims.

Who else is happy to have NFL football back?!?!

Fans of football Vincent Rey Jersey , specifically the NFL, are accustomed to seeing a certain group of players score touchdowns; when Ben Roethlisberger airs it out, it's a foregone conclusion it winds up in the hands of Antonio Brown. Or聽when Eli Manning launches a ball downfield, you can聽bet your life Odell Beckham Jr. is the receiver chasing after it.

Matt Ryan... Julio Jones. Deshaun Watson... DeAndre Hopkins. Andy Dalton... A.J. Green.

The list goes on and on -- the NFL has never had more bonafide superstar wide receivers in it than it does today.

Given the league's transformation, it's no surprise that wide receivers are finding themselves in the spotlight (and end zone) more than ever. Offenses聽are more pass-oriented compared to聽prior eras -- teams no longer expect running backs to carry the ball 30 or 35 times, but they will have their quarterback (good or bad) air it out 40 times on any given Sunday.

The 2017 NFL season saw just under 1.5 receiving touchdowns scored per game聽but not every catch-for-six聽comes from an All-Pro wideout. Sometimes the lesser-knowns get their time to shine Logan Thomas Jersey , allowing them to show off their celebration style and skills in the process.聽If you don't like the relaxed approach to celebrations then you don't like fun, and that's a problem.

Here are 20 players that have, through some miracle, caught a touchdown in the past five seasons. Don't be surprised if you haven't heard much about them before coming here.

Gareon Conley is ready for a fresh start.

The 2017 first-round pick who was expected to become the shutdown cornerback Oakland has lacked for years had his first season derailed by injuries that limited him to just two games as a rookie and created a void in the Raiders secondary.

"I feel like it's still my rookie year because I didn't play a lot," Conley said Tuesday. "I learned a lot mentally. I feel like it's my second year mentally knowing the game and the logistics. But physically I feel like it's my rookie year again because I didn't play a lot."

Conley is a key part of a revamped secondary that brings back just one cornerback who played at least 100 snaps on defense last year in Dexter McDonald, who is a longshot to make the team in 2018.

David Amerson and Sean Smith were let go and TJ Carrie left for Cleveland in free agency. In their place are free agent acquisitions Rashaan Melvin Youth Josey Jewell Jersey , Daryl Worley and Leon Hall, as well as draft pick Nick Nelson.

But perhaps the most important member of that group will be Conley, who is being counted on to provide the lockdown coverage Oakland has been missing ever since Nnamdi Asomugha left seven years ago.

"He's showing why he was the first-round pick," safety Reggie Nelson said. "I think there's a high standard out there for him and he's holding that up. I think Conley is doing a great job right now doing what the coaches ask him to do. ... He just has tight coverage. A great little athlete. He's going to be great in this game. Just keep learning and playing ball."

Conley wasn't able to do much as a rookie after being drafted 24th overall out of Ohio State despite a rape allegation that surfaced shortly before the draft but ended up with no charges being filed.

Conley was impressive in offseason workouts last year before hurting his shin in minicamp in June. That injury lingered and kept Conley sidelined for all of training camp.

He managed to work his way back and made it on the field for his NFL debut in Week 2 but said he was never completely healthy. Conley showed flashes of his ability the first time he was targeted with a pass when he made an acrobatic breakup against the New York Jets and nearly tipped the ball to Nelson for an interception.

But he played only one more game, finishing the season with just 93 defensive snaps and seven tackles. In 53 snaps of coverage, Conley allowed just four catches for 35 yards Adidas Brock Boeser Jersey , according to SportRadar.

"I feel like I played all right but I feel like I could play way better watching film," Conley said. "I had a couple of good plays but I had a lot of bad plays, too."

Conley tried to work his way back by taking time off practice but never completely healed and eventually needed season-ending surgery.

He was limited at the start of the offseason program this year but is now back to full speed and showing the Raiders why he was so coveted coming out of college.

"It's been a dark world that he's been in, this young man," coach Jon Gruden said. "He had a terrible injury he had to rehab from. He's had to change coaches, learn a new system. It's been a slow Authentic Josh Sitton Jersey , steady process but man he's a good player. When he's feeling good, you can see why we picked him No. 1."

NOTES: Rookie T Brandon Parker and DL Fadol Brown got into a fight during a two-minute drill late in practice and Gruden sent Brown off the field and to the weight room. "I didn't like what happened today, particularly in the situation. ... We're in a two-minute drill to win the game and we got a guy ejected for fighting," Gruden said. ... S Marcus Gilchrist sat out with a minor calf injury.

As Browns wide receiver Antonio Callaway stood by, a police officer said he "got real nervous" when he found bullets and a gun part while searching the rookie's vehicle.

Callaway was cited for marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license after being stopped by Strongsville, Ohio police early Sunday morning for failing to yield to oncoming traffic..

On Wednesday, the dash-camera video obtained by TMZ shows Callaway getting out of his car and being questioned by police after the ammunition and a "strap" for a handgun were found in the 23-year-old's car.

A Browns spokesman said Callaway, a fourth-round pick who had numerous off-field problems while he was at Florida Adidas Nikita Kucherov Jersey , traveled with the team for Thursday's exhibition opener against the New York Giants.

Callaway had been scheduled to appear in court Thursday, but had his appearance moved to Aug. 23. He recently moved into the starting lineup after the Browns traded Corey Coleman to Buffalo. It's still not known if Coleman will be disciplined by the team.

Callaway was pulled over at 2:59 a.m., and during the routine stop was asked to exit his vehicle after one of the officers smelled marijuana. In the video, Callaway says he has not been smoking and tells the officer his car had just been shipped from Florida.

Once he returns to his patrol car, one officer tells the other he got worried when he found the bullets.

"I got real nervous when I opened (the car) up and first thing right down by where the seats sit is the backstrap of a Glock Clint Boling Jersey , and then he's got a bunch of spare single rounds sitting in the center console," the unidentified officer said. "So I got real nervous when he's standing back there and there's no gun but there's gun stuff everywhere."

Callaway says he owned a gun, but that it was in Florida. The officer asks to pat him down to make sure he's not carrying a weapon.

There was no mention of the ammunition or gun part in the police report. The AP has requested the dash-cam video.

Coach Hue Jackson said he only learned of Callaway's situation on Tuesday and said he wanted to gather more information before commenting further.

"Obviously, the red flag is up," Jackson said. "Let me work through it http://www.packersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-josh-jackson-jersey , see what it is and go from there."

Callaway is already in Stage 1 of the NFL's substance-abuse program after he provided a diluted urine sample at the league's combine in February. He could be subject to a fine or discipline from the league for his latest transgression.

It only seems like it has been that long since the New York Mets won consecutive games at home.

The Mets will hope Bautista’s long-awaited walk-off on Friday propels them to a rare winning streak on Saturday afternoon at Citi Field when they host the Tampa Bay Rays in the middle game of a three-game series.

The Mets’ Steven Matz (4-5, 3.46 ERA) is scheduled to oppose Rays ace Blake Snell (11-4, 2.24) in a battle of left-handers.

Bautista made his first walk-off homer a particularly memorable one when his grand slam with two outs in the ninth inning lifted the Mets to a 5-1 win in the series opener.

“I guess sometimes it just takes awhile,” said Bautista, whose 336 homers without a walk-off before Friday were the most among active players.

The 37-year-old Bautista has proved to be a rare bright spot for the struggling Mets (35-49) by hitting .255 with four homers, 18 RBIs and a .432 on-base percentage since signing with New York on May 22, hours after he was released by the Atlanta Braves. He hit just .143 with two homers and five RBIs in 12 games for Atlanta.

“Top-tier production out of a guy that we got from Atlanta, who let him go, so that (performance is) surprising,” Mets manager Mickey Callaway said Friday night. “Now the guy himself Brock McGinn Jersey Kids , who has the body of a 25-year-old (and) stays in shape? Can never count those guys out. He’s been playing for a long time, had a lot of success.”

Success has been hard to come by for the Mets, especially at home, where they haven’t won consecutive games since a four-game winning streak from May 18 to May 21. New York is 3-15 in its last 18 games at Citi Field.

The task won’t be easy Saturday when Snell looks to continue his breakout season for the Rays (43-44) and further bolster his case for drawing the start for the American League in the All-Star Game on July 17.

Snell has limited opposing batters to a .179 average, the lowest in the AL. He is tied for second in the the league in wins and ranks third in ERA.

Snell has been particularly dominant in winning his last three starts, a stretch in which he has allowed just two runs in 21 1/3 innings while striking out 26 and allowing 20 baserunners. He surrendered one run and struck out 10 in 7 1/3 innings in beating the Houston Astros on Sunday.

Rays manager Kevin Cash said the success has emboldened Snell, who entered the seasons with just 11 wins and a 3.83 ERA in 43 career starts.

“We all know how talented he is and the stuff that he features — there aren’t many guys in baseball, 6-foot-5 left-handers that throw that hard — but the consistency has been probably the most eye-popping of all of it,” Cash said. “And I’m sure there’s a lot of reasons that go into that. But once he got some confidence and realized how talented he is, I think it carries over from start to start.”

Snell has never faced the Mets, though he did pitch at Citi Field as a member of the “home” team last Sept. 12. In that game, he allowed one run and two hits in five innings for the Rays against the New York Yankees in a game relocated to Citi Field because of Hurricane Irma’s impact on the Tampa Bay area.

Matz also picked up the win in his most recent start Sunday when he gave up an unearned run in 5 1/3 innings as the Mets beat the Miami Marlins 5-2. He has never faced the Rays.

The Bengals showed flashes of it during preseason.

In the opener, Dalton completed 6 of 8 passes, four of them for at least 20 yards — a satisfying showing for an offense that was among the worst at big plays last season.

Dalton completed 71 percent of his throws in preseason with four touchdowns, one interception — the receiver fell on his route — and a passer rating of 130.9.

“I felt real comfortable with the way I played,” Dalton said Wednesday. “With the way this offense has moved and the way we’re doing things, I feel really good about where we are.”

The Bengals finished last in the league in yards last season, a franchise-worst showing. Much of it was linked to a line that couldn’t open holes for running backs or protect Dalton, who threw for the fewest yards of his career in a full season.

Interim coordinator Bill Lazor was retained at the end of the season and given latitude to overhaul the playbook Womens Jordan Howard Jersey , with more of an emphasis on big plays. Despite some misgivings about an adjustment period, the offense had few glitches during the preseason.

“He (Lazor) feels comfortable with it, and our guys feel comfortable with it,” Dalton said. “The big thing is we’re playing fast.”

The offense gets its first real test Sunday at Indianapolis, a place where the Bengals haven’t won since 1997. Much of the focus will be on the revamped line featuring new starters at four positions — left guard Clint Boling is the only holdover.

The line was better at giving Dalton time during the preseason, although it still had some rough times against Dallas.

“Any time the quarterback has time and the ability to stop into his throws, you feel like you’re going to be able to put the ball in a good spot,” Dalton said. “It’s a big part of the reason we had the success we did in the preseason.”

Dalton helped the Bengals reach the playoffs in each of his first five seasons from 2011-15 Claude Giroux Jersey , losing in the first round each time. They’ve failed to reach the playoffs each of the past two seasons. Cincinnati hasn’t won a playoff game since the 1990 season, the sixth-longest streak of postseason futility in NFL history.

Dalton is entering his eighth season on one of the NFL’s youngest teams. Only five players have more experience. Punter Kevin Huber, long snapper Clark Harris and defensive end Michael Johnson are in their 10th seasons. Defensive end Carlos Dunlap and defensive tackle Geno Atkins are in their ninth seasons.

Dalton, receiver A.J. Green and Boling are the oldest veterans on offense, each in their eighth seasons.

Coach Marvin Lewis awards parking places near the players’ entrance to those with the most experience. Dalton has graduated to one of the coveted spots.

“I feel like I’m one of the oldest on the team,” he said.

INJURY UPDATES

Left tackle Cordy Glenn was limited in practice Wednesday because of a shoulder injury suffered during the preseason. Receiver Cody Core was held out with a back injury.

BAD DAYS IN INDY

The Bengals are looking to break a streak of eight straight losses in Indianapolis, including a 26-10 playoff defeat in the first round of the 2014 season. Dalton was only 18 of 35 for 155 yards in an offense missing an injured Green.

Panthers right tackle Daryl Williams tore the medial collateral ligament and dislocated the patella in his right knee Saturday at training camp practice at Wofford College.

The team said there is no timetable for his return.

Williams was engaged with two pass rushers during 11-on-11 team drills when his knee bent back awkwardly. Several players gathered around Williams and others took a knee while the crowd went silent. He was carted off the field.

Rivera said it was difficult for players to resume practice after watching what happened because Williams is so liked.

"We were kind of floating right there, especially on the offensive side Rick Nash Jersey ," he said. "You could feel it and it takes a little wind out of your sails a little bit. But after that period we refocused."

Williams, entering his contract season, has started 28 games and played in 39 during his three seasons in Carolina. He started all 16 games at right tackle last season. Pro Football Focus ranked Williams as top right tackle in the NFL last season and the third-best offensive tackle overall.

Taylor Moton, the backup right tackle, said Williams is one of his best friends on the team. He immediately took a knee to pray.

"He's been a great mentor to me, just watching how he plays day in and day out," Moton said. "He was a (second-team) All-Pro tackle last year and he means a lot to the team."

Rivera called the injury "a tough one," saying Williams is a "big part" of the offense.

"We will keep our fingers crossed Joel Armia Jersey Kids ," Rivera said. "In the meantime, Taylor is going to have to step up and take advantage of the opportunity to get better."

Said Moton: "Wherever coach puts me I am going to give it my 100 percent best effort. If it's at right tackle, so be it. I feel comfortable and confident."

With a win in the regular season finale Womens Le'Veon Bell Jersey , the Anaheim Ducks secured home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs and finally know who they’ll face: the Pacific Division-rival San Jose Sharks.

Rickard Rakell had a goal and assist, and Ryan Miller made 31 saves to lead the surging Ducks to a 3-0 win over the Arizona Coyotes Saturday night, helping Anaheim clinch second place in the division.

Rakell scored for the 12th time in his last 19 games. He led the Ducks with a career-high 34 goals and 69 points this season.

”We know they have a good power play and they’re strong around the boards,” Rakell said of the Sharks. ”They have four good lines working really hard, so we’re going to have to match that.”

Miller earned his fourth shutout of the season and 43rd of his career. It was also his 370th career win, moving him past Tom Barrasso for second place on the all-time list among U.S.-born goalies.

”Definitely somebody I looked up to,” Miller said of Barrasso. ”Just happy to still be playing meaningful hockey and getting some wins.”

Adam Henrique scored his 24th of the season for Anaheim and added an assist, and Hampus Lindholm scored an empty-netter before the final buzzer.

The Ducks (44-25-13) won their fifth straight to finish 10-1-1 over the final 12 games.

The Coyotes (29-41-12) finished last in the Pacific, but went 17-9-3 in their last 29 games in a season they started 1-12-1.

”I thought we got better from October, so there’s some good positive things,” Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet said. ”We just ran out of gas tonight. For the most part, the last 25, 30 games, we beat some good hockey teams and I thought some of the young guys really progressed, which is nice.”

The two teams combined for 26 penalty minutes.

Arizona goalie Antti Raanta appeared in his first game since signing a three-year Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Jersey , $12.75 million contract on Friday that will keep him from free agency. He stopped 24 shots.

”Anaheim, they played a strong game,” Raanta said. ”Everyone left everything on the ice but sometimes puck luck isn’t on your side.”

An altercation between Coyotes defenseman Luke Schenn and Ducks forward Nick Ritchie in the first period resulted in minor penalties for both. That was followed by another confrontation involving Arizona’s Brad Richardson and Anaheim’s Derek Grant, with Richardson sent to the penalty box for two minutes.

The power play for the Ducks helped when Henrique muscled in a backhand for a goal at 10:54 of the period, giving Anaheim a 1-0 lead. Rakell got an assist, his 35th.

Richardson and Anaheim’s Corey Perry served five minutes for fighting early in the second period. The Ducks missed a chance to add to their lead when Jakob Silfverberg hit the post with a shot at 13:07 of the second.

Rakell scored off a pass from Ryan Getzlaf with 3:43 left in the second. Getzlaf picked up his team-leading 50th assist of the season.

Perry earned his 400th assist on Henrique’s goal.

Anaheim logged its fifth consecutive 100-point season as a team.

”We had a plan. We tried to execute the plan. I’m not standing here saying it was perfect by any means, we had a lot of speed bumps on the way,” Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. ”We’ve got our group together here over the last six weeks and we’ve played good enough to gain points.”

NOTES: The Coyotes brought up D Joel Hanley on emergency recall from Tucson, their AHL affiliate, in time for Saturday’s game. … C Clayton Keller, a rookie and the team’s leading scorer this season, was voted Coyotes Most Valuable Player for the season as voted on by local media. … Ducks C Antoine Vermette and F Troy Terry played Saturday, Vermette’s first game since March 23 and Terry’s second of the season. F Jason Chimera and F J.T. Brown were scratched. … A moment of silence was held in remembrance of lives lost in the fatal bus crash involving a junior hockey team in Canada Friday night.

UP NEXT

Ducks: Western Conference playoffs vs. San Jose

Coyotes: Offseason.

Terrell Owens learned a valuable lesson at a young age from the most influential person in his life.

”I’ve always listened and learned a lot from my grandmother and how she lived her life and how she wanted me to live my life,” Owens told The Associated Press about Alice Black, who died of Alzheimer’s disease in 2012. ”No matter what people say about you good Bobby Ryan Jersey , bad or indifferent, you just have to believe in yourself. And when you have belief in the man above, knowing you’re not perfect, the people who walk this Earth aren’t perfect either, and (if) you start to pass judgment and start to believe things about people who you don’t know personally, then that’s really a reflection of yourself.”

Growing up in a poor family in Alabama, Owens had a difficult childhood and he was often lonely. He was raised by his grandmother and his single mother, who spent much of her time working double shifts to support her children.

”Early in my career when I was an adolescent and teenager, I had self-esteem issues,” Owens said. ”I had to get out of that and understand that you have to believe in yourself in order to progress in order to do anything in your life. I’m very proud of how my grandmother raised me.”

Plenty of people have formed strong opinions about Owens, sometimes based on rumors and innuendo. T.O. certainly brought much of the criticism on himself with some of his outlandish behavior, but he believes he was also misunderstood at times. It was easier for critics to pile on than try to understand what made Owens tick.

That’s why Owens believes it took Pro Football Hall of Fame voters three tries to finally get him into the Canton shrine, although he’s not actually going to Ohio. Miffed that he was passed over twice, Owens is skipping the induction ceremony and instead giving his acceptance speech at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Owens said he visited the hall after his selection and decided he’d rather celebrate the big day at his alma mater.

”I feel the Hall of Fame committee needs to find a better formula and format in which guys get nominated and inducted, because all the hard work we’re doing as players to better our lives Cal Clutterbuck Jersey , our careers, our fate is in guys’ hands that have never played before,” Owens said, perhaps ignoring that Hall of Famers Dan Fouts and James Lofton are among the voters. ”People not giving me my recognition because a few people have said they didn’t like me. The narrative has been created and portrayed that I was divisive in the locker room and I wasn’t a good person or a bad teammate, but there have been people who have stood on the table for me and said I was a good teammate, a great player. But that’s the narrative they didn’t go with.”

The 44-year-old Owens had a mostly sensational 15-year career playing for San Francisco, Philadelphia, Dallas, Buffalo and Cincinnati. He is second to Jerry Rice in receiving yards and third in touchdown catches behind Rice and Randy Moss, who was chosen in his first year of eligibility.

No. 81 was a five-time All-Pro, a six-time Pro Bowl pick and one of the most entertaining players of his generation. His touchdown celebrations are legendary and no one worked harder to stay in excellent shape. Some think Owens could still play in the NFL; he has toyed with an attempted comeback in the Canadian Football League. He had 72 catches for 983 yards and nine TDs in his final season, in 2010, and finished with 1,078 receptions, 15 Nikolaj Ehlers Jersey ,934 yards receiving and 153 TDs.

Owens was part of eight playoff teams but only reached the Super Bowl once after joining the Eagles in 2004. He gave a heroic performance in Philadelphia’s 24-21 loss to New England, catching nine passes for 122 yards after defying doctor’s orders and returning to play on his surgically repaired ankle 6 1/2 weeks after an operation.

”What I did, it was bigger than the Super Bowl for me,” Owens said. ”I understood the ultimate goal was to win the game and that was heavily on my mind, and I think with my performance, you can tell that was what was on my mind. But coming out of that tunnel for the first time, the media was waiting for me to run around on the field and go through my normal routine like I do before every game just to get a glimpse, see if I was limping, things of that nature on that ankle. Coming out of that tunnel, I wanted people to know my faith in God was the No. 1 reason I was able to do what I did.”

—

Green Bay Packers Jerseys

It couldn’t have been scripted any better.

Daniel and Henrik Sedin said goodbye to the hometown crowd with a memorable farewell.

Daniel scored the winning goal in overtime Brent Seabrook Jersey Kids , off an assist from twin brother Henrik as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Arizona Coyotes 4-3 Thursday night.

It was the Sedins’ final NHL game at Rogers Arena and a step back in time for the crowd of 18,865 who had one more taste of the elegance and skill the brothers brought to the sport.

A blurry-eyed Daniel tried to describe his feelings when he saw the puck go into the net.

”Relief,” he said. ”I was happy. You couldn’t dream of a better ending in this building, the last time we stepped on this ice.

”It was emotional.”

For Henrik, the Canucks’ captain and franchise leader in points, it was a perfect ending to an emotional week.

”When I woke up this morning I knew it was going to be a big day,” said the older brother by six minutes. ”We tried to enjoy every minute of it.”

Daniel finished with two goals. Henrik also assisted on his first goal in the second period which tied the game 1-1.

The 37-year-old twins from Ornskoldsvik, Sweden, announced Monday they are retiring after playing 17 seasons with the Canucks. Drafted second and third overall in 1997, their final game will be Saturday in Edmonton against the Oilers.

The boisterous crowd at Rogers Arena was on its feet for most of the third period and the overtime. Between ovations there were chants of ”Go Sedins Go” and ”Hall of Fame.”

The anticipation ratcheted up even higher when the Sedins went over the boards after Arizona’s Richard Panik was called for hooking at 1:16 of overtime.

The goal came when Henrik passed back to Daniel, who blasted a shot from the blue line.

The Canucks came off the bench to mob the brothers. Hats littered the ice. Coyote players banged their sticks in recognition.

After the celebration Daniel and Henrik slowly skated around the arena, waving and clapping to the fans.

Defenseman Alex Edler said it was the kind of finish the Canucks wanted for their teammates.

”It was special for sure,” said Edler, who also assisted on both of Daniel’s goals. ”We talked before the game it was going to be loud. We just fed off that.

”The twins had a great game. They were on fire. It was a perfect ending.”

The first goal was a throwback to the Sedins’ early years.

The play began with Henrik making a move along the boards, then dishing the puck to Edler Wayne Simmonds Jersey , who was streaking toward the goal. He passed to Daniel, who shot into an open net.

Both Sedins had season highs of ice time. Henrik logged 21 minutes 36 seconds. Daniel was on for 21:12 and had 10 shots on goal.

Winning the game was just the icing on the cake. Sending the fans home buzzing about a last special performance was the main victory for the Sedins.

”It means something,” Henrik said. ”The way the crowd showed up, right from the warmup.

”To finish off like we did, they can walk away and remember this. If you lose the game 5-1, it’s not fun. It’s a better feeling for us.”

Christian Fischer, Derek Stepan and Dylan Strome scored for Arizona.

Jake Virtanen and Brendan Leipsic got the other goals for the Canucks. Both teams will miss the playoffs.

With Vancouver struggling in the standings, Rogers Arena has often been a quiet building with plenty of empty seats this season. The Sedins’ finale produced the energy and enthusiasm of a playoff game.

Even in the warmups, fans lined the boards waving signs and snapping pictures on cell phones. One woman held up a sign which lit up with the words ”Congrats Henrik and Daniel.”

The first standing ovation came when the Sedins skated out for the national anthems. During the game there were loud cheers each time the Sedins stepped on the ice, anticipation whenever they touched the puck.

The fans almost got their wish 18 seconds into the game when Henrik hit the post.

The standing ovations continued after most whistles during the third period. Daniel and Henrik acknowledged with waves.

Prior to the game there was a video tribute. Past Canucks players and coaches talked about the Sedins’ history, their contributions on the ice and their work in the community. A tribute mural wall was installed outside the arena for fans to write messages. The lights outside Rogers Arena and in many city buildings glowed Swedish blue and yellow in tribute.

During the game some fans chanted ”one more year.” Daniel was asked if there was any chance the brothers would reconsider their retirement.

”No, not at all,” he said. ”I saw our kids up on the Jumbotron (during the game). That made me happy. We will spend more time with them.”

NOTES: Attending the game were the Sedins’ parents and two brothers. . The Canucks gave out their team awards with rookie Brock Boeser the most outstanding player, Alex Edler the top defenseman and Derek Dorsett the unsung hero.

UP NEXT:

Coyotes: Host Anaheim on Saturday in the regular-season finale.

Canucks: Travel to Edmonton on Saturday in the regular-season finale.

—

The Arizona Cardinals offense did very little in their season opener, a 24-6 home loss to Washington.

They promise improvement Authentic Tyler Eifert Jersey , but it will have to come Sunday against a team with maybe the best defense in the NFL, the Rams, and in Los Angeles yet.

"If you look at them on paper," Arizona quarterback Sam Bradford said, "they're probably one of the more talented units in the league. The way they played the second half last week, they played really well. So, I think it's definitely a big challenge for us, but we've accepted that. We're putting in the work getting ready for them."

This will be the first time Bradford has faced the Rams, the franchise that drafted him No. 1 overall and gave him the last of the huge rookie contracts ($50 million guaranteed) before he went on to an injury-plagued career in St. Louis. Bradford left the Rams after missing the entire 2014 season with a knee injury. That was two years before the team moved back to Los Angeles.

So the game has no special meaning to him, he said.

"I think if it would have happened sooner in my career," he said Wednesday, "maybe there would be more, but the staff there is completely different. There's only a handful of guys on that roster that were there when I was there. So there's just really not a lot of connection that's still there for me."

What does grab his and the rest of the offense's attention is the need for improvement. Arizona had the ball three times, two of them three-and-outs, and ran 14 plays in the first half against the Redskins Adam Larsson Jersey , falling behind 21-0 and throwing out the game plan, which was to have been centered on the running of David Johnson.

"We've got to come up big on third downs. We've really got to focus on third down and picking that up," right guard Justin Pugh said.

Arizona converted 1-of-8 third down opportunities in Sunday's loss, 0-for-3 in the first half. For the game, the Cardinals managed 213 yards of offense to the Redskins' 429.

"The encouraging thing, when we looked at the film, is there weren't any major glaring breakdowns," he said.

Just a lot of little things that went wrong.

Now bring on the potent Rams, who scored 23 unanswered points to wrap up a 33-13 win at Oakland on Monday night.

First-year Cardinals coach Steve Wilks said his offense remains a work in progress.

"Early in the season, I think it's still learning," said Wilks, the defensive coordinator at Carolina last season who's turned the offense over to coordinator Mike McCoy. "I think we're still learning each other. Players are (learning) the timing. ... It's a process you've got to continue to go through, and we're still in the early stages."

Against Washington, the only wide receiver besides Larry Fitzgerald to catch a pass was rookie Christian Kirk, who caught a four-yarder. That has to change Gabriel Landeskog Jersey Kids , Bradford and Wilks said. The team needs to get Kirk and second-year pro Chad Williams more involved.

"I think there are some things we can probably do game plan-wise to get them going a little bit," Bradford said, "some easy completions, some things out there, just get the ball in their hands and then kind of build from there."

Of course, they will have to do it against that bruising Rams defense.

The Cardinals quarterback smiled when told that defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh marks the calendar every time he faces Bradford because he wants to hit him.

"Great," he said. "I get it. I think everyone wants to hit me. I think that's kind of how it goes."

Notes: DE Markus Golden, recovering from major knee surgery, worked out on a limited basis. He said he was following trainers' orders and didn't know if he'd be ready to play Sunday. ... Starting RT Andre Smith has a sore elbow and it's not known if he will go Sunday, either. An MRI showed no structural damage. ... S Antoine Bethea, S Tre Boston and DL Corey Peters met with Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey on Tuesday to discuss the criminal justice system. "We're all human beings. We all live in this world," Bethea said. "We all see what happens, especially with the camera phones nowadays. We're all smart people. We all see what happens. We all know there's inequality in this world so we can't be naive to that even though you want to be. ... We were able to sit there and talk about those problems yesterday." The meeting was set up by Cardinals President Michael Bidwill.

They’re the hot names that everyone wants to know as they head into fantasy football drafts for the 2018 season — the unearthed gems and the deep values that can come out of nowhere to help you win your league and make you look smarter than everyone you are playing against.

But do “sleepers” even really exist in today’s fantasy world?

There is so much information out there Cam Fowler Jersey , making it difficult to find out a deep value performer without others in your league knowing about him. Still, it’s about digging deeper than your opponents and figuring out where to find value.

RUNNING BACKS

ROB KELLEY, Washington: The unfortunate season-ending injury to Derrius Guice has created an opportunity for someone to step forward and seize an opportunity to carry the ball consistently. It’s not going to be Chris Thompson, who does not have the frame to take the regular pounding that comes with more rushing attempts. Kelley and Samaje Perine will battle for the chance to replace Guice as the lead runner. Kelley has reportedly slimmed down prior to this season and can do a better job of creating his own running room behind a questionable offensive line. Kelley has flex potential to be the TD finisher for a respectable offense.

NYHEIM HINES, Indianapolis: Andrew Luck has never enjoyed a weapon like Hines before. The effervescent rookie has significant point-per-reception league upside as a player similar to Darren Sproles. Not only can Luck finally have a safety valve when he is in trouble, Hines will also make many plays for him from anywhere on the field. If the Colts can’t establish a running game, Hines can act as a substitution or extension of a ground attack, much like Theo Riddick used to in Detroit.

LeGARRETTE BLOUNT, Detroit: There is a lot of initial buzz about rookie Kerryon Johnson so far, but he runs high and could expose himself to some injuries. Plus Marc-Andre Fleury Jersey , the Lions have made an organizational commitment to being more physical — a philosophy Blount fits. Blount has been written off in the preseason before, only to maintain fantasy relevance once the season starts for real. Even with Johnson in the picture, Blount could be a frequent goal line runner for a very productive offense.

WIDE RECEIVERS

CHRIS GODWIN, Tampa Bay: There’s already talk that Godwin will seize a starting job in his second season. He is a big and fast target who should emerge as the top complement to Mike Evans. Godwin averaged 15.4 yards per catch last season, flashing his exciting potential during the first half of the season. DeSean Jackson is not going to recapture past form and Godwin will become a viable upside option.

MACK HOLLINS, Philadelphia: The Eagles are already dealing with Alshon Jeffery injury issues and their receiving depth otherwise is not too impressive, with the likes of retread Mike Wallace. Hollins is a very sizable pass-catcher with some extra gears who has generated some chatter from seasoned Eagle watchers as he heads into his second year. He could step into a more prominent role as a notable playmaker for Carson Wentz.

JARON BROWN, Seattle: Paul Richardson has left for Washington, and Brown is set to step into his old role as a deep threat for Russell Wilson. Brown could be even more productive than his predecessor. Brown consistently got open downfield in Arizona, but was done in by shoddy QB play. Wilson is one of the best downfield passers in the league and Brown is going to make himself known as a more regular playmaker in Seattle. Draft him as a WR5 or 6 before he starts making noise.

QUARTERBACKS

SAM DARNOLD Womens Andrew Luck Jersey , New York Jets: The excitement among Jets fans is for real. Darnold is the best QB in the rookie class from an intangibles and decision-making perspective. He plays for a team with an aggressive, opportunistic approach. The Jets also have respectable talents surrounding him. Josh McCown flirted with back-end QB1 status for a spell last year. Darnold’s traits that can’t be taught to just anyone will propel him into the starting role quickly and translate into solid, sometimes outstanding fantasy production.

MITCHELL TRUBISKY, Chicago: Much like Jared Goff last year, Trubisky is coming off a frustrating and forgettable rookie season, but his team has brought in a fresh new coach and surrounding talents. Trubisky may start a bit slowly as he adjusts to his new surroundings, but eventually he should mesh with the new playmakers he can utilize, and he could vault at least into high-end QB2 status.

TIGHT ENDS

AUSTIN HOOPER, Atlanta: The Falcons do have other weapons, but Matt Ryan has often featured his TE in the past and Hooper is ready to step forward and play a larger role in the offense in his third NFL season. Tight ends sometimes take a while to get into the pro flow Nick Jensen Jersey , and now Hooper has enough experience to break out. With defenses always so concerned about Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley drawing extra attention downfield, Hooper will be more free to work in the middle and should become a more frequent red zone target.

RICKY SEALS-JONES, Arizona: Seals-Jones showed brief glimpses of his promise last season, with a two-TD outing and a 72-yard performance. Look for him to play a more frequent role in the Arizona offense this season, especially as a TD threat. He may face some discipline from the league for a recent off-field incident, but otherwise he should vault himself into fantasy relevance as a featured pass-catcher on a team needing his size and scoring potential.

Last week, things start to get a little slow in the NFL. This week, it’s anything but.

From the Tom Brady holdout to the Hunter Henry torn ACL to the new kickoff rule to the new interpretation of the new helmet rule to a new anthem policy that will serve only to make things worse, not better, it’s one of the most active late-May weeks in years.

Enter #PFTPM Authentic Josh Norman Jersey , which jams all of Wednesday’s developments into a 70-minute package.

With many NFL teams using a running back by committee approach Oliver Ekman-Larsson Jersey , the "bell cow" back who carries the ball 20 times per game has become a hot commodity in fantasy football.

According to consensus draft rankings in point-per-reception (PPR) scoring formats, 10 of the first 15 players taken in typical drafts are running backs. If you want to field a competitive lineup this season, focus on RBs early.

Todd Gurley, Le'Veon Bell, Ezekiel Elliott and David Johnson are usually the first running backs selected in typical drafts.

Gurley flourished in Rams coach Sean McVay's revamped offense last season, leading all RBs with 13 rushing TDs, and he posted 64 receptions. He's the major cog in a top offense.

Bell has been a top 3 fantasy RB three of the past four seasons, but he's expected to miss his second straight training camp due to a contract dispute with the Steelers. Missing camp last season may have contributed to his slow start. He'll likely have another productive season, but buyer beware; Bell's played the most snaps of any NFL RB since the 2013 season.

Elliott led all RBs in 2017 with 98.3 rushing yards per game and will be the centerpiece of a depleted Cowboys offense. He'll also likely play a bigger role in the Cowboys pass offense this season.

Johnson missed most of the 2017 season due to a wrist injury, but he'll be the focal point of the Arizona offense. He rushed for 1,239 yards, scored 20 total TDs and registered 80 receptions in 2016. He'll run behind a fullback this season to minimize injury risk. Expect him to approach 2016 rushing and pass-catching stats.

Alvin Kamara caught 81 passes last season, but the Saints may need him to play more snaps than he's accustomed to while Mark Ingram serves a four game drug suspension. He may not match last season's combined 13 TDs, however he'll play a big part in the Saints passing game.

Saquon Barkley is expected to have a big impact in his rookie season, both in the Giants run game and in their passing offense. He was going to have a big role anyway, but Barkley's pass protection abilities will ensure he'll be on the field for the majority of the Giants' offensive snaps.

Kareem Hunt led NFL RBs with 1,327 rushing yards and added 53 receptions last season. He'll be the Chiefs' primary back in 2018 and may see a slight uptick in receiving targets with inexperienced QB Patrick Mahomes potentially using him as a safety valve in pressure situations.

Melvin Gordon's 3.8 career yards per carry (YPC) may not impress Zach Parise Jersey , however he had the third-most red zone carries among RBs last season and has scored 24 TDs in his last 29 games. TDs are hard to predict, but the Chargers consistently provide Gordon with a high volume of scoring opportunities. Gordon caught 58 balls out of the backfield in 2017 and his reception totals have increased in each of the past three seasons.

The Jaguars run-first offense will provide Leonard Fournette plenty of opportunities. He rushed for 1,040 yards and scored 10 total TDs in his 2017 rookie campaign, but wore down as the season progressed. He's had a history of foot related injuries dating back to his college days, and may not have prolific ball-catching skills, but if Fournette's health holds up, he should post another 1,000-yard rushing season.

Dalvin Cook is recovering from a torn ACL, but should be ready for Week 1. Although Latavius Murray will have a role in the Vikings backfield, Cook will be their primary back. Barring setbacks, pencil him in for 1,000-plus rushing yards and about 40 catches.

Although he'll still have fantasy value in standard (non-PPR) leagues, Christian McCaffrey's 80 receptions from 2017 make him extra valuable in PPR. The Panthers have suggested he could get 25 to 30 touches per game. That sounds optimistic considering that C.J. Anderson is now in the mix, but if he approaches that workload, McCaffrey can possibly outplay his expectations of being a top 12 fantasy RB.

Falcons RB Devonta Freeman landed in the NFL's concussion protocol twice last season. He also sprained both his MCL and PCL. When healthy he is one of the top RBs in all scoring formats.

Jerick McKinnon never had more than 159 carries in a season, but he'll be the featured back in the 49ers offense. His outstanding pass-catching abilities make him valuable in PPR leagues, however his lack of experience as a bell cow back and smallish frame makes you wonder if he can withstand the rigors of a 16 game NFL season.

Bengals RB Joe Mixon has immense talent Womens Charlie McAvoy Jersey , however inconsistency, a bad offensive line and uneven usage contributed to his underwhelming rookie season. As the Bengals' primary back, if his offensive line improves its level of play he could enjoy a breakout season.

Jordan Howard has an outstanding career 4.6 YPC, however he's had problems catching the ball. The Bears insist he'll be their featured back, however Tarik Cohen's abilities as a pass catcher could cut into Howard's snaps.

LeSean McCoy's offseason troubles and the anemic Bills offense make him risky. Jay Ajayi may break some runs this season but he's an injury risk in a crowded Eagles backfield. Avoid the Seahawks backfield until there is more clarity regarding Rashaad Penny's and Chris Carson's playing time. Sony Michel is expected to miss the rest of the preseason due to a knee injury that could also affect his availability to start the regular season.

Royce Freeman is a very talented RB who may end up being Denver's featured back. Keep an eye on De'Angelo Henderson as well. Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch is a mid-level RB2 who is being drafted as an RB3.

ROTOEXPERTS TOP 15 RBS, PPR LEAGUES

David Johnson, Arizona Cardinals

Le'Veon Bell, Pittsburgh Steelers

Todd Gurley, Los Angeles Rams

Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints

Melvin Gordon, Los Angeles Chargers

Saquon Barkley, New York Giants

Ezekiel Elliott, Dal Tuesday's film session only confirmed Frank Reich's initial suspicions.

Indianapolis' offense was largely out of sync Monday night against Baltimore. The defense made some big plays, but still needs to find consistency. And he expects everyone to start cutting down on penalties over the final two preseason games.

He also knows it's early and all those things can be fixed.

"It was more on the there's a couple things to clean up," he said Tuesday as he evaluated Indianapolis' starting offense. "It was not terrible, but it was not our best day."

Clearly, fans at Lucas Oil Stadium expected to see a better showing from Andrew Luck than the mediocre one he delivered.

He missed his first three throws Andrew Ladd Jersey , the last ending a scoring chance when the Ravens intercepted Luck inside their 10-yard line. Luck later described the play as a bad decision compounded by an inadvisable throw.

But judging what went right and wrong becomes eminently more difficult given all the missing pieces.

T.Y. Hilton, a four-time Pro Bowl receiver, longtime left tackle Anthony Castonzo and the Colts' top two running backs, Marlon Mack and Robert Turbin, sat out with injuries.

Plus, Reich acknowledged the Colts have been intentionally rather vanilla in their play-calling.

Besides, Reich still has some position battles to sort out.

Rookie offensive lineman Braden Smith, initially projected to be an NFL guard, played into the second half at right tackle 鈥?the one open spot on the offensive line 鈥?and Reich said he liked what he saw out of Smith with the exception of two holding penalties.

The other positive sign: Luck has been sacked three times, taken at least two big hits on his surgically repaired throwing shoulder and remains pain-free.

"I was like, 'Oh, I landed on my right elbow, sort of reminiscent of how I injured my shoulder a couple years ago,'" he said. "I didn't feel anything. Didn't give it a second thought, so I think it's actually a big deal for me and being able to sort of lose that thought bubble."

Defensively, there were others signs of progress.

Rookie linebackers Darius Leonard and Zaire Franklin played well for the second straight game and veteran defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway is starting to look like a potential playmaker in the new 4-3 defensive front.

Franklin and Leonard lead the Colts in tackles with 12 and 11 while Ridgeway has now recorded eight tackles, 4陆 sacks and six tackles for loss.

Defensive end Tarell Basham Jakub Vrana Jersey , a third-round pick in 2017, also may have helped his cause by blocking a punt and recovering it to set up the Colts' final score 鈥?giving them a chance to rally in the final 2陆 minutes.

Phillip Walker connected with Zach Pascal on a 9-yard TD pass, but Walker was stopped short on a 2-point conversion run that would have given Indy a 21-20 lead.

"It was a huge play, a great effort by him," Reich said before explaining why Basham appeared to be sliding down the depth chart. "The defensive line has been very fluid. It can go hot and cold and a guy can go out and have a couple sacks in a hurry."

Reich also sounded optimistic about getting some injured players back.

He's hoping Castonzo (hamstring) returns to practice before the Sept. 9 season opener against Cincinnati and, if all goes well in practice this week, starting safety Malik Hooker could play Saturday against San Francisco.

But Reich also knows he can't be sure exactly how things will fit together 鈥?until the key players return.

"I think it's like putting a puzzle together," he said. "I don't know what the best analogy is, a puzzle, putting the furniture in a room. You have a vision for what it can be, and even though it hasn't all been in there at one time, you still feel like, 'Hey, when it all gets in there, it's going to look good.'"

Even though he has missed 11 games with a hand injury and three because of a suspension Oscar Klefbom Jersey , he is within four points of breaking his previous career best in that category.

“I want to be one of those guys who makes a difference for my team,” Forsberg told The Tennessean. “That doesn’t have to be on the scoreboard, but I’m more than happy if it is.”

While the Predators are happy, the Panthers are nervous because what was a 75 percent probability of a playoff berth just two weeks ago is now a long shot.

According to hockeyreference.com, the Panthers were down to just a 6.7 percent chance of making the playoffs before Monday’s thrilling 3-2 win over the visiting Carolina Hurricanes.

Defenseman Alex Petrovic scored the go-ahead goal with 7:58 left in the third period to key the win at the BB&T Center. It was just his second goal of the season.

“It doesn’t come too often,” Petrovic said of his goal. “But it was a big goal and a big win. We’re trying to get some wins in the last week of the regular season. We have to keep pushing.”

Certainly, it should help that the Panthers will be back at the BB&T Center on Tuesday. The Panthers are 13-3 in their past 16 games at home.

Another trend in Florida’s favor is that, since the All-Star break Jake DeBrusk Jersey , it leads the NHL in points by defensemen.

Normally, the Panthers get defensemen points from Keith Yandle, Aaron Ekblad and Mike Matheson.

On Monday, however, it was Petrovic and rookie MacKenzie Weegar. Weegar’s goal was the second of his career and his first since Oct. 20.

“It has been awhile since I scored,” Weegar said. “(Jared McCann) made a heads-up play, dropped the puck back to me, and I put it in the back of the net. I was happy to contribute.”

The Panthers will take it because they need every victory they can get. This was Florida’s 40th win of the season J.T. Miller Jersey , just the fifth time in franchise history they reached that milestone.

The win also gave the Panthers 88 points, five behind the idle New Jersey Devils in the battle for the last wild-card playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.

Florida has four games left in the regular season. New Jersey has three.

“It’s very intense,” Weegar said of the playoff race. “We are fighting for every inch. We’re not going to stop until the last game.”

Linebacker Reuben Foster has not been with the 49ers this offseason as the team waits to find out what will happen with the domestic violence charges brought against him earlier this year.

Clarity about his outlook for the year to come is expected on Wednesday. Judge Nona Klippen is set to rule on whether there is enough evidence for Foster to stand trial less than a week after his ex-girlfriend testified in a hearing that she made up a story about Foster striking her.

If the trial does not move forward, Foster’s return to the 49ers could come quickly and head coach Kyle Shanahan said Tuesday that “when the decision does comes, I promise you guys I鈥檒l answer that for you right away.” Shanahan also said he’s spoken to the linebacker weekly and thinks Foster has handled things well over the last few months.

“He鈥檚 hanging in there,鈥?Shanahan said, via SFGate.com. 鈥淥bviously, it鈥檚 a tough challenge. I think anyone would realize it鈥檚 a very hard thing to go through and we鈥檒l see how this ends up. You just always hope that every situation you鈥檙e in Youth Tyler Pitlick Jersey , in the long run, it can make you a better person. A better man. And I think Reuben is handling it right.”

Foster also has a marijuana arrest to resolve and could be disciplined by the league for that even if he avoids any punishment in the domestic violence matter. That short absence wouldn’t be ideal, but it would be preferable to the extended one Foster appeared likelier to face when first arrested.
