SAN DIEGO (AP) — And even if third base coach Glenn Hoffman had held up his hands http://www.royalsfanproshop.com/authentic-justin-grimm-jersey , Guerra was going to ignore them.Freddy Galvis doubled home Guerra from first base with the winning run in the 15th inning Friday night to give the San Diego Padres a 3-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks in a game that lasted 5 hours, 2 minutes.“Even if I get the stop sign, I wasn’t to going stop,” Guerra said. “Right away I was going to home plate.”Hunter Renfroe’s pinch-hit homer for the Padres with two outs in the 12th tied the score at 2. Renfroe was a late scratch from the starting lineup because he was ill.“He wasn’t feeling good at all today,” manager Andy Green said. “I kept asking if he had a Kirk Gibson moment in him or a Michael Jordan flu game. He said he had a swing in him, and that’s what he had in him. He was able to go out there and gut it out in the outfield. That was gutsy from him.”Archie Bradley gave up Renfroe’s tying drive.“He was fairly upset about it walking back into the dugout,” Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said. “I know that Renfroe is a very capable hitter and if you make a mistake to him in the middle of the zone Burch Smith Jersey , he’s going to punish the ball. Archie’s been very effective as of late … and felt like it was the right situation. He just made one mistake.”Guerra drew a pinch-hit walk from Matt Andriese (0-3) leading off the 15th and scored on Galvis’ double to right field.Colten Brewer (1-0) worked two innings for his first major league win.“It’s something that I will remember for a long time,” Brewer said. “I couldn’t be happier and it’s especially gratifying when it came in a long game like that. I just wanted to pitch in the big leagues and to get a win feels even better than I imagined.”Nick Ahmed’s sacrifice fly put the Diamondbacks ahead 2-1 in the top of the 12th. Ahmed sent a shallow fly ball toward Franmil Reyes in right and initially Ketel Marte wasn’t going to try to advance from third base. But when Reyes was tardy in throwing the ball in, Marte took off and was safe on a close play at the plate.Jose Pirela’s home run off Diamondbacks reliever Silvino Bracho in the seventh tied it 1-all. Arizona had taken the lead in the top of the inning when Chris Owings scored on a passed ball.Padres rookie starter Eric Lauer allowed singles to the first two batters he faced — after limiting the Dodgers to one run over five innings in his previous outing. But the lefty tiptoed out of trouble in the first two innings. From there, Lauer settled down. He gave up an unearned run and seven hits with six strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.Owings opened the seventh with a single and John Ryan Murphy followed with a double. With the infield in, Galvis made a spectacular, over-the-shoulder catch in short center field on pinch-hitter Patrick Kivlehan’s popup to hold the runners.Marte drew a walk to load the bases and then rookie catcher Francisco Mejia let Robert Stock’s outside pitch bounce off his glove. Owings scored to make it 1-0.Arizona starter Patrick Corbin went five scoreless innings. He allowed three hits and a walk while striking out four but remained winless since Sept. 7.TRAINER’S ROOMPadres: RHP Brett Kennedy (left knee) had surgery and is expected to be healthy for spring training.UP NEXTDiamondbacks: RHP Zack Godley (14-11, 4.75 ERA) starts the middle game of the series Saturday looking to snap a four-start losing streak. His last win came on Aug. 29 against the Giants. Godley is 3-4 with a 5.40 ERA in his career against the Padres.Padres: RHP Jacob Nix (2-4 Blaine Boyer Jersey , 6.81) makes his second career start versus Arizona, with both outings coming at Petco Park. He was charged with five runs and five hits while getting only two outs when facing the Diamondbacks on Aug. 16. Tim Tebow could potentially be headed to the major leagues in 2019.New York Mets general managerBrodie Van Wagenen is apparently a believer in the former NFL star, saying Tuesday that he won't rule out the possibility of Tebow making the team's Opening Day roster, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network.Van Wagenen noted that the outfielder is likely to begin the year in Triple-A, however. The 31-year-old is coming off his second season in professional baseball, spending the entire year in Double-A with theBinghamtonRumble Ponies. In 84 games, he hit six home runs while posting a .273/.336/.399 slash line.Although he was nearly seven years older than the average hitter in the Eastern League Trevor Cahill Jersey , perBaseball Reference, his numbers were respectable given his lack of experience.Previous general manager SandyAlderson, who originally signed Tebow in 2016, thought he would eventually make it to the bigs."I think he will play in the major leagues,"Aldersonsaid last February, perMichaelDiRoccoof ESPN.com. "That's my guess. That's my hope, and to some extent now after a year and a half Melky Cabrera Jersey , a modest expectation."While there is now a new leader of the organization,VanWagenenapparently also likes what he has seen from the outfielder.

August 22 www.vikingsauthorizedshops.com , 2018 Merry Wednesday, y’all!I hope you’re all enjoying the work week, and I’m sure we’re all looking forward to Friday when our beloved purple and gold will be at home to take on the Seahawks. In the preseason, game three is the preseason game where the starters are normally on the field for the longest, and we won’t see them playing at all in game four, so Friday’s game will be a closely watched contest. Like most of you, I’ll be keeping an eye on the O line (though I’m not as concerned as some). I’m hopeful that the team can continue the overhaul they started last year, and continue to make improvements. If the O line can perform adequately, this team could be very tough.Around the DN since our last open thread:Dan Persons has news and notes from the training camps of our division foes.J-Dog has some insight on what to do when attending Vikings games if you don’t have a smartphone. I tend to be simple in many ways, so this suggestion may be considered ignorant, but......couldn’t you........I dunno.........watch the game? It’s right down there on the field. You can always watch the big screen if you’re averse to looking at actual people. Just a thought. The Vikings signed center Jacob Judd. I’m not sure how good the man is at playing center, but he’s got a cool name. The Vikings also claimed Luke McNitt on waivers, per Chris.Chris shared the Football Outsiders piece where they wonder if the Vikings can overcome their O-line issues.Vikings news from other sources and news from around the league:FoxSports thinks that Dalvin Cook is primed for a big year coming off of his injury. I think they’re right, I’m rooting hard for the kid.Vikings.com has a piece on Chad Beebe, and they mention ‘grit’ right there in the headline.Richie Incognito made the news again for more of the unusual behavior which is usual behavior for him, the story is from ESPN. I have a feeling there is some usage/addiction lying under the surface. Maybe I’m wrong & he’s just bat**** crazy. I dunno, I wouldn’t sign him, though. Also from ESPN, Ravens CB Jimmy Smith has been suspended for four games by the NFL. Smith was accused of domestic violence by an ex-girlfriend who is the mother of his child, and the NFL cited evidence of “threatening and emotionally abusive behaviors” in handing down the suspension. We come to today’s media selection:I haven’t played this one in a while, one of my son’s favorite videos. “Dad, play that crazy guy again”. Here you go, enjoy!Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:No discussion of politics or religionNo feeding of the trollsThis isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the doorKeep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tagsNo pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employerIf you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go awayWhile navigating the open thread Minnesota Vikings Womens T-Shirt , just assume it’s sarcasmWith that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try the blood sausageVikings’ NFC North Rivals: News and Notes, Week 2 One thing you can say about the NFL is that just when you think you have it figured out, the Ryan Fitzpatrick-led Buccaneers drop 48 on the Saints, the Browns didn’t lose their opener against the Steelers, Adrian Peterson swam in the Fountain of Youth, and The Jets’ Sam Darnold spots Detroit six on his first ever play from scrimmage before effectively ending the Matt Patricia era.Well, maybe looking back at history, that last one could have been predicted.Yes, folks, the Lions’ new Twenty million dollar man Quandre Diggs did his best Mike Hughes impression on the first play of the game, housing an errant pass from Sam Darnold to open the season on Monday Night Football. That was the high-point of the game for Detroit, who looked absolutely atrocious the rest of the night, losing 48-17 to the Jets. And, speaking of predictable, Chicago gon’ Chicago - as long as Aaron Rodgers is the quarterback in Green Bay.Khalil Mack showed the rest of the division the type of player he will be, collecting a sack, recovering a fumble, and doing his own Mike Hughes impression, taking a Deshone Kizer pass to the house.Buuuuut鈥?AFR showed Mack what type of player he is by coming back into the game after recovering from plantar warts, gout, and herpesyphillitis of the knee and then throwing three touchdowns to lead the Packers to victory.Yes, he did.Don’t even google it.It’s a fact. (And I told you it was going to happen, last week, by the way)Chicago BearsKhalil Mack’s debut was definitely the big story for the Bears this weekend. He plays the game like he’s going against C-Teamers.Randall Cobb’s (no relation) game-winning touchdown can’t be blamed on Mack, but (if you can stomach the replay) check out the hustle the 6-3 252 pounder shows as he races to try and catch the 5-10, 192 pound Cobb. This whole thing can, however, be blamed on defensive back Kyle Fuller. On the play just before Cobb’s touchdown Minnesota Vikings Hats , Fuller had a chance to end the game. This actually made me think about the significance of the Kittle drop and subsequent Mike Hughes pick-six in the Vikings game.Matt Nagy’s offense sputtered in the second half, inspiring this in-game observation from Jacob Infante (@jacobinfante24) over at Windy City Gridiron:For fans of Mitchell Trubisky, the following image may be disturbing. It’s so bad, it almost makes me think it was photoshopped. The Bears escaped the game with no major reported injuries, and inexplicably play their second prime-time game of the season, taking on the Seattle Seahawks (0-1) at Soldier Field in Chicago on Monday Night Football.Not-afraid-to-make-a-prediction Prediction:The Bears showed flashes against Green Bay, and nearly pulled out the victory. The Seahawks are very similar to the Packers, but they’re not built for Soldier Field.Chicago rights the ship and nabs their first victory behind some back-to-basics run first offense. Detroit LionsOh, Detroit.Thank God you have Cleveland so close by.Every year, I kind of want to pull for the Lions, just a little bit.You know鈥in one for Barry. And Herman Moore. And Scott Mitchell. On second thought, f**k Scott Mitchell.Scott Mitchell still sucks. Before Cleveland was Cleveland-ing, Detroit was that team.Remember, this is a team that hasn’t even won a playoff game in 26 seasons. And when the 2017 Browns went 0-16, Detroit said “pfffft鈥?we did that, like, nine seasons ago. What took you so long?”So to see the Lions start off the way they did against the Jets really doesn’t surprise me at all.Lions players were already unhappy with Matt Patricia before the first game, apparently calling in to question his new get-tough attitude.Well, the Lions looked soft as rotten fruit against the Jets. After week one, the score stands: Coach 1, players 0.The Lions also extended another streak this week. They have now gone 69 (nice!) straight games without a 100 yard rusher. They totalled just 39 yards on the ground in the game.Watching live, it seemed like the Lions were hell-bent on throwing the ball sixty times in the game.Somewhere, Josh Freeman was smiling.Apparently the Jets defensive players had at least some idea of what plays the Lions were calling offensively, which may explain how a team that collected only eleven interceptions total in 2017 was able to pick off Matthew Stafford and Matt Cassel five times. The Lions’ injuries hit hard at the top of the payroll, with four of their top seven paid players exiting the game at one point or another.Quarterback Matt Stafford missed a good portion of the game with a knee injury, which he called a hyperextension, Defensive End Ziggy Ansah left the game with a shoulder injury.Guard T.J. Lang left the game with a back injury.Cornerback Darius Slay took a hard hit to the head, but was able to return to the game. The Lions will travel to San Francisco to take on the 49ers on Sunday. Not-afraid-to-make-a-prediction Prediction:The Lions strengths should match up favorably against the 49ers strengths (DET O-Line vs SF D-Line; Stafford, Tate, Jones vs SF defensive backs) Minnesota Vikings Womens Hoodie , but with the possible unrest in the locker room, injuries to key players, and lack of a running game, the Lions fall to 0-2 - and the NFL can get back to slobbering all over Jimmy G. Green Bay PackersGreen Bay beat the Bears, you can read about it above. In other news, Aaron Rodgers was able to play the second half of the game after duct-taping a gazelle’s colon to his own medial collateral ligament. This, however, caused an infection, which team doctors were forced to treat using a poultice made from pounded marijuana leaves and Cris Collinsworth’s excess saliva.Bruh was high AF after the game.Obviously, it worked.Regarding the injury, Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy was predictably mum with reporters during his Monday news conference.Apologies for blatantly ripping-off Ted Glover’s brilliant ZimTzu posts:What Mike McCarthy meant: We want to know exactly what was in that concoction, and we have a crack team of experts working hard to replicate the formula in large quantities. When I saw Aaron this morning, he told me that he was in deep conversation with the Egg-man and the Walrus all through the second half of the Bears game, and he woke up four hours later in his apartment, wearing nothing but a smoking jacket. He was pretty adamant about wanting to continue that conversation. As of now, Las Vegas isn’t taking bets on the Vikings/Packers game.Rodgers’ injury status has everything to do with that, so if you were looking to lay some money down, you may be out of luck.On defense, the Packers came at the Bears offense with packages that utilized six and even seven(!) defensive backs on the field at one time a whopping 44 of 70 snaps. (Side note鈥?when the hell did we get a dollar package?I’ve heard of nickel, dime, and even quarters. But dollar???) The Claymaker (oh God鈥?I think I just threw up in my mouth after typing that) was back to his old tricks against the Bears Mitchell Trubisky on Sunday night, delivering this brutal, totally illegal late hit.But on a positive note, PFF ranked Matthews 74/74 as Edge Rusher this week.Injury-wise, outside of Aaron “Don’t call me Timothy Leary” Rodgers, the Packers made it through the game relatively unscathed. And, you may have heard that they host the Vikings this Sunday at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.Not-afraid-to-make-a-prediction Prediction:FOH if you think I’m going to pick against the Vikings.Vikings win in a not-very-close game. With or without Cheech Rodgers.

Yes, the Vikings and Dan Bailey made it official, they’re going steady. The Vikings have had less-than-stellar luck with kickers as of late.......well, for a very long time, with the exception of the Norwood years. They had a nice run with Gary Anderson until.......well, you know. It really has been a while, though, and I’ll be happy to not hyperventilate and develop a sudden case of tourettes every time the Vikings attempt a field goal. There was also a bit of a sly move by the Vikings front office to bring Tom Johnson back to the team, Ted has the details in the story linked below. All in all, it was a busy day for the Vikings, as they also prepare for their next contest of the young season, as the Bills will travel to Minnesota to face off against the Kings of the North on Sunday. Kickoff is at noon, but I’m sure you already knew that.Around the DN since our last open thread:Ted has all the details surrounding the move to bring Tom Johnson back to Minnesota.Ted also brought us the latest edition of Zim Tzu, one of the highlights of my week.Chris shares the details of the Dan Bailey signing, and the move to release Stacy Coley.Chris also takes a brief look at Vikings/Bills history. Seeing the Vikings/Bills, all I can think about is being beaten by Kyle Orton and giving up the first down on 4th and 21.It appears that Dan Bailey wanted the Vikings as much as the Vikings wanted Dan Bailey, Chris has the story.Jonah Dylan fills you in on what you missed from week 2.Stefon Diggs was on Celebrity Family Feud, and he had an.....interesting answer to a question in the fast money round, from Chris. This is hilarious. From Skelly10, Adam Thielen and his wife, Caitlin started the Thielen Foundation, which will be in partnership with the University of MN Masonic Children’s Hospital. The foundation will focus on pediatric behavior health White Laquon Treadwell Jersey , and serve the children at the hospital and their families. Bravo, Thielen family, I love seeing our players helping the community and making a difference in the lives of those who are going through struggles that you cannot imagine. the impact that these players can have on individual lives is more significant than anyone can imagine.Ted and Di posted Roughing the Podcast 53 can maybe make a field goal.Chris has a spot where you can keep up with all the latest Vikings-Bills news. Vikings news from other sources and news from around the rest of the NFL:FoxSports North shows Kirk Cousins already played his way into the Vikings’ record books, and he’s just getting started. At Vikings.com, watch the Good Morning Football crew discuss Cousins and his seemingly perfect fit with the Vikings, and Tom Pelissoro gives some insight into yesterday’s roster moves.ESPN wonders if Bilichick will hit the lottery with Josh Gordon.More drama in Pittsburgh, as Antonio Brown didn’t show up on Monday, per NFL.com.From ESPN, Carson Wentz is back for the Eagles and will start this week. The future hall-of-famer has been recovering from a knee injury he sustained in week 14 of last year.We come to today’s media selection:I know many of you aren’t aware that there are words above the media selection, so you may not see Chris’ link to Diggs’ appearance on Family Feud. Here’s the money round where Diggs gives a very good, and very funny, answer to one of the questions. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try the head cheese. Hi kids, how are we feeling this afternoon? A three game win streak that puts the Vikings alone in first place in the NFC North should have you feeling pretty good about the local team and life in general http://www.authenticsminnesotavikings.com/cheap-xavier-rhodes-jersey , I would think. But yeah, it’s also Monday, so I get it if things kind of blow today.I have to admit I was a bit worried last week about the Jets game, and I talked about it in this piece right here. A loss against the Jets would have been pretty bad, for any number of reasons. Turns out I was right in thinking how brutal a loss to the Jets would have been for the VIkings and their playoff chances. But, they won. It might have been ugly for awhile, but they got it done. And in so doing, their playoff chances and playoff seeding increased substantially. If you fine folks here at DN have read any of my musings on a regular basis, you know I’m not a number cruncher type of writer, for the most part. I’ll look at trends and use them to form my ridiculously obtuse opinions, but using a lot of stats in my writing isn’t something I’m particularly good at. However, one site I’ve really started to enjoy is the playoff predictor from 538, a site more known for political polls and predictions as opposed to sports. But they’ve been doing a playoff predictor for the NFL for awhile now, and I really enjoyed following it last season as the Vikings chased Philly and New Orleans for homefield advantage and a first round bye. If you’re not familiar with the site, they take the results of the games each week, the remaining schedule, and using math and formulas that I don’t understand they come up with weekly playoff percentages for each team, to include the chances of winning the division and getting a first round bye. I didn’t look at it the first month or so of the season, but I think I’m going to make this a weekly post, now that we’re almost halfway through 2018.Anyway, last week, the Vikings had a 57% chance to make the playoffs, but only a 43% chance to win the division http://www.authenticsminnesotavikings.com/cheap-matt-wile-jersey , and a miniscule shot at a first round bye. If I remember correctly, the Bears were ahead of the Vikings in all those categories, and both the Packers and the Lions were in the 30-40 percentile range to make the playoffs. After yesterday’s games, let’s take a look at where things now stand in the NFC North in terms of making it to ‘The Dance’ (playoff percentages taken from 538):That’s a pretty dramatic one week jump for the Vikings and drop off for the Bears, the Packers lost a lot of ground even though they had a bye, and Detroit changed very little. But how bad would it have been if the Vikings had lost? Well, I also found a site called Playoff Predictors, and I think I could waste hours going over all the different possible what if scenarios. (Warning: this site is a ginormous time killer so it’s not my fault if the rest of your work day is unproductive). Had Minnesota lost to the Jets yesterday and fallen to 3-3-1, they would have gone from the number four seed in the NFC playoffs to ninth. So yeah, that was a big game. Had both the Vikes and Bears won, the Bears would currently be the fourth seed, and the Vikings sixth. That loss to the Patriots really hurt the Bears, though, as they dropped from division leader hosting a first round playoff game to the 10th seed, with Green Bay still the sixth seed...even though 538 predicts the Packers have the lowest chance to make the playoffs, muahahahaha.Detroit is currently the ninth seed, sitting at 3-3 right behind two other .500 teams in Seattle and Tampa Bay. Had the Lions lost to Miami, they would have tumbled to 2-4, the 13th seed in the conference, and in my opinion almost no shot at the post season. They have yet to be seeded in a hypothetical ‘if the playoffs started today’ scenario, but have climbed out of an early 0-2 start to get back to .500. You’ve probably seen the stat that says teams that start out 0-2 have an 11% chance to make the playoffs, and what a difference a 1-1 start would have been for Detroit.Let’s say they won their second game of the year against San Francisco, and every other result in the NFL so far this year remains the same. At 4-2 White Tom Compton Jersey , Detroit would be in first place in the NFC North and the number four seed. Minnesota would be the sixth seed, and Green Bay would be out of the playoffs. Starting 0-2 really is a tough hurdle to overcome, and puts teams behind the power curve early.Speaking of Green Bay...let’s go back to that week two tie the Vikings and Packers had. All other things being equal, if the Packers win that game, they’re 4-2 and the number four seed currently, with the Vikings the number six seed. If the Vikes win that game, they are the number three seed in the NFC and the only NFC North playoff team, as Detroit, Green Bay, and Chicago fall to the number eight, nine, and 10 seeds, respectively.I know there’s still over half the season to play, and a ton of things can and will happen. The Vikings have only played one divisional game, and how they do in those five remaining games will largely determine whether or not they go to the playoffs. Lose most or all of those games and no matter where the Vikings sit today, they won’t be going anywhere come January.Still, I always enjoy these ‘if the playoffs started today’ kind of things, because I think it really shows just how crucial each game in the NFL is on a week to week basis.

Lending a sympathetic ear is none other than Mike Zimmer Youth Kirk Cousins Jersey , one of the biggest beneficiaries of the league's renewed emphasis on protecting the passer."It's pretty difficult," the coach of the Minnesota Vikings said. "You've got a target area the size of a strike zone."So, from the top of the knees to the armpits. No lower legs. No neck. No head."And then you can't fall on top of them," added Zimmer. So, they've got to break the quarterback's fall or at least do a "gator roll," where they basically pull the quarterback on top of them as they land.Do all that in the blink of an eye and there won't be a flag negating the game-sealing interception like Matthews was hit with Sunday, allowing the Vikings to escape Lambeau Field with a 29-29 tie instead of a loss.To be clear, the rule outlawing defenders from landing on the quarterback has been in the books since 1995, but the league's competition committee made it a point of emphasis this year. And while Matthews wasn't whistled specifically for that, the league's emphasis on roughing the passer appeared to play a role in the game-altering whistle that erased rookie Jaire Alexander's interception of Kirk Cousins with 1:37 remaining in the fourth quarter with Green Bay ahead 29-21.Referee Tony Corrente explained that when Matthews "hit the quarterback, he lifted him and drove him into the ground."Many critics didn't buy that explanation or the justifications for the more than 30 times roughing the quarterback has been called in the first two weekends of the season."I love the NFL - but it's crazy the #s being put up by QBs & WRs due to fact that D can't hit them anymore & can't lay hands on them downfield," tweeted Kurt Warner, the architect of the "Greatest Show on Turf" that put up its own big numbers."Everyone is running free the entire game (or it's a penalty)! Don't get me wrong I LOVE Offense, but better when it's a fair fight."Other takeaways from Week 2 include the realization that not even his grandma is safe from Jalen Ramsey's trash talk; Marquette King got the last laugh on Jon Gruden after the Broncos' 20-19 win over the Raiders; kickers who can't cut it get cut; and Vontae Davis gave new meaning to walking away from the game.GRANDMA GOT RAN OVERRamsey, the Jaguars star cornerback and one of the league's most outspoken personalities said he "definitely would" hit his grandmother if she lined up against him on the football field."To respect the game, you have to play it fierce," Ramsey said. "I don't believe in having friends on the field. I mean, my brother, my dad, my mom, grandma was out there, like it's on. After the game, we can be cool. It doesn't matter. That's how I feel, like, you've got to respect the game of football."Football is not a game meant to be played being nice to each other and all that, like kumbaya. After the game's over with, that's cool."Ramsey wouldn't really hit his grandmother, would he?"No, I definitely would," he said. "She knows that. My grandma knows that. I love you, but she knows that."Ramsey added that granny "might not get up from one of my licks."TIME FOR ME TO FLYInstead of a farewell game, Davis said farewell to the game, walking away during halftime of the Bills' loss to the Chargers. The 10-year veteran told his coach he was done and then didn't accompany his team back onto the field for the second-half kickoff.Bills linebacker Lorenzo Alexander said he'd never seen anything like it "in Pop Warner, college, pros, never heard of it, never seen it.""And it's just completely disrespectful to his teammates," Alexander added. After the game, Davis tweeted that he meant no disrespect to his teammates or coaches, saying, "This isn't how I pictured retiring from the NFL. ... But today on the field, reality hit me hard and fast. I shouldn't be out there anymore."CHEEZY CHUCKIEShortly after Brandon McManus' field goal with 6 seconds left allowed Denver to escape Gruden's bid for his first win in Denver http://www.thevikingsfootballauthentic.com/sheldon-richardson-jersey-authentic , the ex-Raiders punter trolled him on Twitter with a video that included a Chucky doll with dollars stuffed into his clothes, an unmistakable reference to Gruden and the 10-year contract he signed to return to the Raiders this spring.King was released by the Raiders on March 30 and quickly signed with Denver, saying he was eager to face Gruden twice a year. King said after signing with the Broncos that he hadn't spoken to Gruden before or after his release, and when he was asked about Gruden last week, he replied, "Who's that?"KICKED TO THE CURBAfter a weekend that included 19 missed kicks, two kickers lost their jobs Monday. The Vikings waived rookie Daniel Carlson after he missed all three of his field goal attempts, including two in overtime, in the tie game at Green Bay.When asked by a reporter how the decision was reached, Zimmer deadpanned, "Did you see the game?"The Browns released Zane Gonzalez after his four misses in New Orleans prevented Cleveland from winning for the first time since 2016. That came after his potential game-winning field goal in overtime was blocked by the Steelers in the opener.Gonzalez misfired on two extra points and two field-goal tries, including a 52-yarder in the final seconds, in the Browns 21-18 loss to the Saints. Some Browns fans weren't any more accurate than the wayward kicker when they vented at the wrong Zane Gonzalez on Twitter — a graduate assistant baseball coach at the University of Rio Grande who retorted, "Guys, I'm just a college baseball coach. Relax."To which one intrepid fan replied, "to be fair you didn't make those kicks today either." Week five has come and gone, and all of the Bizzaro-Football that plagued the division in the first few weeks seemed to have disappeared.Defenses that were supposed to be pretty good finally looked pretty good. Offenses that were thought to be some of the best moved the ball like they were some of the best.Referees didn’t make any didn’t make many made some really controversial calls.Kickers kicked the baaaaahhhh...nevermind.Same as it ever was.NFC North Division kickers Mason Crosby, Matt Prater and Dan Bailey combined to make just five of twelve kicks this weekend.Five. Of. Twelve. In Detroit, where the Lions outlasted the Packers 31-23, the kicking game proved to be fatal for Green Bay, as kicker Mason Crosby missed four field goals and an extra point in the game. With the loss, the Packers saw their record fall to 2-2-1, tied with the Vikings.Detroit improved to 2-3 with the win, but still hold last place in the division. The 3-1 Chicago Bears held on to the top spot in the division through their bye week. Chicago BearsBefore bringing up any of the usual type of nonsensical tidbits usually found in this column, I’m compelled to mention the name George Taliaferro, who passed away on Monday, October 8th.Taliaferro was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 13th Round of the 1949 NFL Draft - making him the first African-American player ever drafted into the league.Taliaferro never played a down for the Bears, but was a three time Pro-Bowler - for the New York Yanks, Dallas Texans, and Baltimore Colts. At the University of Indiana, he became the first African-American to lead the Big 10 Conference in rushing yards.Taliaferro was 91 years old.The big news in Chicago continues to be centered - rightfully so - around star Linebacker Khalil Mack.Mack won Defensive Player of the Month honors, racking up five sacks, four forced fumbles, and one touchdown - hey look! He’s right there with Chucky’s entire defense in Oakland!Apparently, the only other Bears news worth reporting is that Mitchell Trubisky wore an arm sleeve during his six touchdown performance versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It is the only possible explanation as to how a quarterback like Trubisky could throw six touchdowns in a game.Mr. Biscuit explained the sleeve in a very Mitchel-y way, stating:Every kid in Chicago is right now begging mommy and daddy to run to DICK’s Sporting Goods to buy them an arm sleeve, so they can throw like a Biscuit, too.In fairness, I wrote this entire column while wearing an arm sleeve, and I believe the results are鈥?swaggy. In an earlier NFCN Recap column, I pointed out the fact that the Chicago Bears kept only seven offensive linemen on their final 53-man roster.Well, they’ve added a couple Womens Brett Jones Jersey , including Bryan Witzmann, recently cut by the Vikings. So far, though, the Bears’ line has been very solid, allowing the fewest QB pressures in 2018, according to PFF. The Bears will travel down to Miami this Sunday to take on Ryan Tannehill and the 3-2 Miami Dolphins.Not-afraid-to-make-a-prediction Prediction:Finally, a team that can give the Bears a run for their money. The Dolphins force Mr. Biscuit (no relation) back to earth, and Tannehill breaks through the Bears defense for the win.Detroit LionsThe following game recap of the Lions’ 31-23 victory over Green Bay is so perfect that I won’t add a thing. It is most definitely must-see-tv.Last week, I mentioned that Devon Kennard has been a quality find for the Lions defense. This week, he had yet another sack - his fifth sack in as many games - and a huge fumble recovery.Fans of his former team - the New York Giants - have begun to take notice. While the Minnesota Vikings can brag about having one of the best receiving duos in the league in Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs, the emergence of second year wideout Kenny Golladay (no relation) is giving Detroit some serious consideration for having the best trio in the game.Paired with Golden Tate and Marvin Jones, he’s begun to put up some stats worth comparing:But apparently, the Packers’ Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix isn’t a fan.Today’s lesson:Rivalries begin early.Teach your children well.Not-afraid-to-make-a-prediction Prediction:The Lions are on a bye this week, and will return in week seven to face the Dolphins, who may or may not be coming off a win versus the Bears.Matt Patricia will go pencil shopping and Kerryon Johnson will play a ton of video games.Green Bay PackersIt’s been a rough week on the interwebz for Mason Crosby - misser of field goals, doinker of uprights, changer of shoes. My personal favorite,And finally,One of the biggest stories in Packerland is the perceived misuse of running back Aaron Jones.Jones has had some success running the ball this year since returning from a two game suspension, but his snap count continues to frustrate Packer fans.It almost seems like Packers head coach Mike McCarthy is trying to send a message to his young running back. If he’s worried about pass protection, Jones has been doing a pretty good job with that, as well. From the Department of Disgruntled Employees:Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix is in the last year of his contract, and doesn’t see a future in Green Bay.Packer fans may or may not be heartbroken. In a Paul Allen-esque moment, former Packer James Jones’ homerism came through fully on NFL Network, recently. If you don’t feel like watching the video, Jones predicts 4-0 for the Packers - including two on the road in L.A. and New England in back to back weeks.Earlier in the season, Amazon Prime NFL Streaming became the first outlet to feature an all-female broadcast team. This weekend, Westwood One Radio will break ground with the first Father-Daughter duo. That’s right, former voice of the Minnesota Timberwolves Kevin Harlan will be joined by his daughter Olivia (@OliviaDekker) on the air Monday night when the Packers take on the San Francisco 49’ers.She’s... um, she’s quite fetching - as the kids today would say. Also,Wednesday was Brett Favre’s birthday, and I found this gem.The farther removed he is from his days as a Packer, the more I like him.If you get a chance to hear his segments on Sirius/XM NFL Radio, do yourself a favor and give it a listen.Happy Birthday, 4!Not-afraid-to-make-a-prediction Prediction: The ol’ reverse psychology worked last week, so we’ll try ‘er again this week!OF COURSE THE PACKERS WILL WIN!!It’s Monday night, at Lambeau, against a beat up 49’ers team. Two touchdowns, easy.

Tom Brady is so looking forward to his annual trip

to Buffalo the Patriots quarterback posted a video on social media playfully announcing his impending arrival."Another great win Cheap Julian Edelman Jersey , 5-2. Got to get to 6-2," he said, walking alongside teammate Lawrence Guy following a 38-31 victory at Chicago last weekend. And when Guy chimed in by saying, "6-2 on the way," Brady responded with a wide-eyed: "Woo! Bills Mafia, here we come."Bills fans, who refer to themselves as the "Mafia," naturally took Brady's remarks as a taunt in advance of Buffalo (2-5) hosting New England on Monday night. The more upset fans are, the better, Bills defensive end Jerry Hughes said."I think it's perfect," Hughes said. "I think that's great to get our fans riled up Cheap Ja'Whaun Bentley Jersey , because we're going to need all that anger, all that hostility."The young, patchwork and offensively challenged Bills could use whatever edge they can get for various reasons. They're already on their third starting quarterback, with Derek Anderson filling in for injured rookie Josh Allen; have scored just 81 points; and have lost by 22 or more three times, including a 37-5 meltdown at Indianapolis last weekend. Then there's the prospect of facing Brady, who at 41, has every good reason to be upbeat given his career-long string of dominance over New England's AFC East rival. With a 28-3 record against Buffalo, Brady holds the NFL mark for most wins by a quarterback against one opponent. His 466 yards passing in a 40-32 win at Buffalo in 2015 are the most against the Bills. He threw five touchdown passes — four to Randy Moss alone — in having a hand in Buffalo's most lopsided home loss, a 56-10 Patriots win in 2007.And Brady also contributed to the Patriots racking up 580 yards offense — the most allowed by Buffalo at home — in a 52-28 win in 2012.The past means nothing to the Patriots, who are 31-5 against Buffalo since 2000, when Bill Belichick took over as coach."It's always tough in Buffalo Kyle Van Noy Jersey ," Belichick said, discounting the fact the Patriots have won six straight at Orchard Park, New York, by a combined margin of 230-144.The Patriots enters the game on a roll, having scored 38 or more points in winning four straight.Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams took no exception to Brady's remarks."Why wouldn't the man be confident, right? I think that comes with good players," Williams said, referring to Brady's 201-57 career record. "Good players are confident. Great players are even more confident. That's no shock."NOT READY FOR PRIME TIMEThe Bills are 2-10 in their past 12 Monday night games, and have lost six straight since a 23-18 win at Miami in 1999. Buffalo hasn't hosted a Monday night game since Phil Dawson hit a decisive 56-yard field goal with 1:39 remaining in a 29-27 loss to Cleveland on Nov. 17, 2008.Buffalo is 0-13 in games played on either Sunday or Monday nights since a 2000 season-opening 16-13 win against Tennessee. Adding in Thursday and Saturday night games, Buffalo is a combined 3-18 since 2001.UNDERDOGS AGAINBills coach Sean McDermott shrugged when informed the Patriots opened as 11-point favorites."Is that new?" he said http://www.patriotscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-trent-brown-jersey , before noting how the Patriots won the AFC championship last season and extended their NFL record by winning their ninth consecutive division title."Until you beat them, then they're going to be favored. That's how it works," McDermott said.MICHEL ON THE MENDThe Patriots will likely be without rookie running back Sony Michel, who hurt his left knee injury against Chicago.Michel missed New England's first two practices this week, and leads the team with 422 yards rushing and four TDs. His absence would leave the Patriots with James White and Kenjon Barner as the only healthy running backs on the roster.MISTER MONDAYBrady has no trouble getting up for Monday. His 48 career touchdown passes on Monday night are the fourth most in history behind Dan Marino (74), Brett Favre (69) and Drew Brees (50).Brady also enters the matchup with Buffalo on the cusp of becoming the NFL's all-time leader in touchdown passes, counting playoffs. Peyton Manning tops the list with 579, Brady is second with 575.RETIRING NO. 34The Bills will honor Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas by retiring his No. 34 during halftime. He joins quarterback Jim Kelly and defensive end Bruce Smith as the only Bills player to earn the honor.Thomas hopes his presence and Brady's comments regarding Bills fans might spur Buffalo."The fans will be riled up now because of what Tom Brady said," he said.No matter the outcome, Thomas added: "It'll be a special night. It absolutely means more than anything I could ever imagine right now at this point in my life."AP Sports Writer Kyle Hightower contributed to this report. This story has been corrected to indicate Bills' last Monday night home game was against Cleveland in 2008. Aaron Rodgers‘ knee is getting better. So much so that reporters did not even ask him about it in his Wednesday media session.A day after participating in his first Wednesday practice — on a limited basis — since injuring his knee in the season opener, the Packers quarterback was a full participant Thursday.“It’s definitely a step ahead of where he was last week David Andrews Jersey ,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Thursday morning, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “He did the unit drill and the pre-practice stuff.”Since his injury against the Bears, Rodgers had used Wednesdays as a rehab day.Cornerback Jaire Alexander (groin) also returned to being a full participant Thursday after a limited practice to open the work week.Receiver Geronimo Allison (hamstring), tackle Bryan Bulaga (knee), receiver Randall Cobb (hamstring), tight end Jimmy Graham (knee) and receiver Equanimeous St. Brown (knee) remained limited.Lnebacker Nick Perry (ankle) and safety Jermaine Whitehead (back) returned to a limited practice, and center Corey Linsley (knee) was added to the injury report with a limited practice.

NFL-NFLPA joint investigation

Handling of Patriots safety Patrick Chung’s concussion didn’t violate protocol The New England Patriots did not only get defeated during their week two contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars Julian Edelman Jersey , they also lost two of their defensive starters along the way: defensive edge Trey Flowers and strong safety Patrick Chung both left the game because of concussions. While the protocol was correctly applied in Flowers’ case there were some concerns when it comes to how Chung was treated. After a play in the second quarter, the veteran was slow to get up and immediately removed from the game. After only one play on the sidelines, however, he returned to the action – only to be shut down for good during halftime. This procedure raised questions at the time and ultimately led to an investigation by the NFL and the NFL Players Association. Today, the results were announced: no wrongdoing was found.According to a joint statement, the league and the players union conducted interviews with “relevant Patriots personnel, the game official involved Authentic Marcus Cannon Jersey , the unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant (UNC) and the booth ATC spotter.” The interviews established that none of the persons in question felt the need to initiate the concussion protocol right after Chung left the game for the first time. However, the Patriots’ coaching staff apparently “observed behavior that warranted a sideline review” after the first-time team captain had entered the contest again. This then led to him being placed in the concussion protocol, being removed from the contest a second time, and after a reevaluation being declared out. According to the press release by the NFL and NFLPA, the 31-year old showed delayed concussion symptoms.Chung, who also missed last week’s game against the Detroit Lions because of the concussion, returned to practice this week but is still a limited participant. The Patriots’ physicality caught Dolphins head coach Adam Gase by surprise It did not take Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase long to address one of the major issues for his team during its 38-7 defeat at the hands of the New England Patriots. “They out-physicaled us Youth Dont'a Hightower Jersey ,” Gase said as part of the first answer during his postgame press conference. The Patriots did indeed impose their physical will on their hapless opponent and for 60 minutes dominated the game in almost every fashion. The clearest manifestation of this came in the running game. After New England averaged only 97.7 yards on the ground through its first three games, it amassed 175 against Miami. Led by the two-headed attack of Sony Michel and James White, the team was therefore able to control the clock and get into an early offensive rhythm. The two backs would not have been able to be this productive without the big guys up front, though.Against a talented Dolphins defense, the Patriots’ blockers had a very good outing. Not only did they keep quarterback Tom Brady relatively clean – he was not sacked once all game –, they also paved the way for first-round rookie Michel’s first 100-yard game and the best regular season rushing performance of White’s career (only once, during last year’s Super Bowl http://www.patriotsauthorizedshop.com/authentic-joe-thuney-jersey , did he rush for more yards than yesterday’s 44 yards).Likewise, the team’s defense also was able to shut down Miami’s rushing attack for most of the day. After giving up an abysmal 143.3 yards per game from week one through three, the Patriots limited the Dolphins to a mere 56 yards on the ground. Part of this had to do with the team being able to get off blocks more effectively and simply out-muscling the Dolphins up front – something that came surprising for Adam Gase.“We really didn’t anticipate getting out-physicaled like the way we did,” Miami’s head coach told reporters after the game. Gase also mentioned that this was not just a problem for his team in the running game: “We had been good all year; the first three games, as far up front and our run game. [...] This game, we just couldn’t get anything going. We were getting pushed back, a lot of pressure on Ryan [Tannehill] even though they weren’t pressuring with blitzes.”“So when you are getting pressured on three James White Jersey , four-man rushes that’s going to be an issue,” continued Gase focusing on his team’s offensive attack. “And that’s really what happened: we could not get anything going on offense and then it just kind of trickles down to the defense because now they’re on the field and we had a couple of chances to get off and we had some penalties and it just affects everybody.”For the Patriots, this was a big step forward: New England looked emotionally drained during its back-to-back losses against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions the last two weeks. With its collective back against the proverbial wall, however, the team rose up to the challenge and looked noticeably more present and emotional on the field – and was thus able to physically challenge the previously unbeaten Dolphins.“I didn’t see this coming,” said Gase of the Patriots’ new-found physicality paving the way for a blowout win. “I didn’t think that we would get out-physicaled. That surprised me.”

Rob Gronkowski would rather retire than play

for a team other than the Patriots Rumors about a trade involving tight end Rob Gronkowski swirled around the New England Patriots this offseason Cordarrelle Patterson Jersey , but ultimately resulted in a nice incentive-drive pay increase for the All Pro. What stopped these trade rumors? Gronkowski himself, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. And so there you have it. The Gronkowski trade rumors ended and the Patriots rewarded their tight end for his decision and desire to remain with the team. No team would be interested in trading for someone threatening retirement, so it’s unlikely that Gronkowski will be on the trade block again.Gronkowski has two more years on his contract and the Patriots will likely reassess his future after this season. I would expect the Patriots to try and reach an extension with Gronkowski after this season to bring down the tight end’s $9 million base salary in 2019 and establish what should be a record-setting contract for his position. While the New England Patriots already ruled out their starting right tackle Marcus Cannon yesterday due to a concussion Authentic Jeremy Hill Jersey , a second high-profile player will likely join him on the inactives list against the Chicago Bears tomorrow: tight end Rob Gronkowski. On yesterday’s final injury report of the week, the 29-year old was listed as questionable to play due to an ankle injury and also a new back issue. As a result of his ailments, Gronkowski did not make the trip to Chicago with his teammates according to the Boston Globe’s Jim McBride:While Gronkowski has not yet officially been ruled out to play against the Bears Youth Danny Shelton Jersey , the “signs are not good” per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The NFL’s best tight end should therefore not be expected to be active tomorrow against one of the league’s better defensive units. In his absent, Dwayne Allen and Jacob Hollister will serve as the Patriots’ tight end tandem. However, Hollister was also listed as questionable yesterday after hurting his hamstring.

Fantasy Tip: Pick your poison with Rivers and Gordon both having chances of putting up big numbers. Chargers' defense worth consideration against Bills popgun attack and patchwork offensive line.BFTB Roundtable: Which player are you most excited to watch on defense against the Saints? The defense going up against the high-powered Saints offense should be the more interesting match-up between these two teams. The Chargers are missing two starters in DE Joey Bosa and CB Trevor Williams so it will be interesting to see how they are able to hold up in the meantime. The run defense will have it’s toughest task yet in stopping second-year RB Alvin Kamara and veteran Mark Ingram.Out for another preseason game is 2018 third-round pick DT Justin Jones who was selected specifically to help on the inside with the experienced Brandon Mebane turning 33 this past year. Jones could possibly be an X factor in this defense’s run-stopping ability but it looks like we will have to wait until the regular season to see that possibly come to fruition. In the meantime, here are the guys that the staff will be keeping a close eye on come game time.Jamie Hoyle:I’ll be watching Kyzir White to see when and where Gus uses him with the first team defense. Will he just play between King and Phillips at dime linebacker, or will he continue to steal base defense snaps from Jatavis Brown, as he has done all week in practice?Louis Gorini: I will be fixated on Derwin James. I’m excited to see him with the starters and a pro longed view of him against another team’s first teamers.Cody Young: I’ll be watching Addae and Jenkins closely. Their snaps so far this preseason have been less than stellar, to put it mildly. Hopefully they’re just working through some offseason rust, and getting a longer look at them this week should give everyone a better idea of what we can expect when the season kicks off two weeks from now.Daniel Stebbins:Isaac Rochell was getting a good amount of reps with the first team defense this week due to Bosa continuing to be out of commission. The progression in his game from last season has been tremendous http://www.chargerscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-austin-ekeler-jersey , so I’m excited to see how he looks in this game. He did a great job with those practice reps, let’s see if it translates to similar success on Saturday.Matthew Stanley: I basically want to see the whole 1st team D get an extended look, but if I have to pick just 1 it will be to see how Derwin James does with a few series with the 1s. He has looked good in practice from everything we’ve heard, and he has moved well in the games, but I think we are all anxious to see him make a splash play.Michael Peterson: Instead of picking a specific player, I will go with the entire linebacking group that rotates with the rest of the starters. There are so many potential “starters” when you account for base, nickel, and dime packages that I’m interested to see if they continue to run nickel/dime for the speed or if someone like Kyzir White or Uchenna Nwosu will allow them the versatility to increase speed within their base look.

Chargers’ 2018 Schedule Prediction: Part 2 Current record after four games

3-110/7 Week 5 Vs. Oakland RaidersThe AFC West has found a lot of success over the last five years and the Chargers are finally trending in the right direction with the rest of the division heading south at the same time.Ever since Gruden arrived in Oakland Youth Mike Pouncey Jersey , he has seemingly handed out contracts to a ton of players currently over the age of 30. In comparision, the Chiefs, Broncos, and Chargers currently roster six, six, and five players over 30, respectively. The Raiders, however, have 14. Not the best look for a team trying to bounce back from a lack luster season.Derek Carr and the offense return running back Marshawn Lynch, wide receiver Amari Cooper, and what should be an improved offensive line after selecting uber-athletic offensive tackle Kolton Miller out of UCLA. The offense will also look to get a boost in reliability from longtime-Packer wideout Jordy Nelson while hoping the addition of former-Steeler Martavis Bryant will up their potential for explosive-plays in 2018.On the defensive side of the ball, the Raiders selected a duo of elite athletes at the defensive tackle position in P.J. Hall and Maurice Hurst. Both are relegated to backup duty to start camp but I wouldn’t be surprised to see one of the two crack the lineup. Hurst was arguably the most disruptive interior defensive linemen in the draft while Hall ran a sub-4.8 forty at almost 310 pounds. After sweeping the Raiders in 2017, I don’t see any reason why anything would change this season. The likes of Cooper, Nelson, and Bryant make up an intimidating wide receiver core but the Bolts’ secondary will be even better. Lynch and the offensive line could still offer problems if the run defense refuses to take a step forward but, in the end, I don’t think the Raiders defense has the play-makers to match up with the Bolts’ firepower. I expect a few scares and some frustration, but the Chargers will come out on top in this one.2018 Record: 4-110/14 Week 6 @ Cleveland BrownsIn 2016, the Chargers gave the Browns their only victory over the last two seasons. Last year, they were close to giving them their second. In 2018, with the roster revamped and packed with top-tier potential/talent, this game is really up for grabs. The only thing working against the Browns is the fact they’re still the Browns.Whether it is Tyrod Taylor of Baker Mayfield behind center, the Bolts will have to deal with an offense packing some exceptional firepower. Josh Gordon, Jarvis Landry, and Corey Coleman make up the starting wide receiver group. Running backs Carlos Hyde and second-round pick Nick Chubb will bring the thunder on the ground while Duke Johnson can make plays at any position on the field. The defense is highlighted by an athletic front-seven that includes 2017 top overall draft pick Myles Garrett, defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi, and defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah. The linebacker group packs a ton of versatility with Christian Kirksey, Jamie Collins, Joe Schobert, and Mychal Kendricks all fighting for the three starting spots. The secondary got some juice after the Browns selected cornerback Denzel Ward with the fourth-overall selection in this year’s draft. He will start opposite EJ Gaines while Jabrill Peppers and Damarious Randall will patrol the deep part of the field. This game will depend on what Chargers team shows up. The Browns will have home-field advantage and, depending how they start the season, could be riding a ton of momentum going into this game. I am severely torn on the outcome of this game, but to continue the optimistic vibes surrounding the team Youth Denzel Perryman Jersey , I believe the Bolts will pull out another narrow victory. However, this one could go either way and I want to acknowledge that this isn’t the same Browns team that we have come to expect in recent years.2018 Record: 5-110/21 Week 7 Vs. Tennessee Titans (UK)The Titans and Chargers were both hot teams this time last year as potential breakout teams that could make it far into the playoffs. The Chargers barely missed the playoffs while the Titans squeaked in and put together an amazing come-from-behind victory to upset the Chiefs in the opening round.Gone is Demarco Murray. Former-patriot Dion Lewis is now the backfield mate to Derrick Henry and the Titans run-game is still as intimidating as ever. Quarterback Marcus Mariota may have come have come on strong towards the end of the season but his 2018 campaign was a major letdown when compared to the lofty expectations he was given prior to the season. The receiver group is a healthy mixture of experience and young talent with Rishard Matthews, Corey Davis, Taywan Taylor, and Tajee Sharpe. Tight end Delanie Walker just signed an extension with the team and will likely continue to be one of the most consistent players at his position. The defense picked up some real talent in the recent draft with linebacker Rashaan Evans and EDGE rusher Harold Landry. They join an underrated defense that possesses several Pro Bowl players already in safety Kevin Byard and defensive tackle Jurell Casey, as well as recently-acquired cornerback Malcolm Butler. This unit can give any team their fair share of fits throughout a game and I believe they’ll also be the X-factor for this game. Both offenses have plenty of firepower. The Chargers will have the advantage through the air but I have to give the Titans the edge in the ground game. If the Bolts don’t reinforce the run defense, they could be in for a frustrating game.Their match-up during the 2016 season was a blast to watch as both teams lit up the scoreboard. The Chargers almost dropped the game in the final minutes but held on to a tight victory. For the 2018 edition, I predict a similar outcome. With both teams playing at a neutral site, I see Rivers and Co. continuing their hot-streak to start the season.2018 Record: 6-111/4 Week 9 @ Seattle SeahawksThe Seattle Seahawks are always a tough match-up, regardless if this isn’t the same team that found itself in two super bowls during a three-year span. As long as they have Russell Wilson, they have a shot at winning games. Wilson will likely be joined in the backfield by Rashaad Penny, the team’s recent first-round selection. Head Coach Pete Caroll has made it know he wants to get back to establishing the run and Penny is a big part of those plans. I don’t know how well that will all go as Seattle possesses one of the weakest offensive line groups in the entire NFL. If you watched any of their games from 2017, you likely saw Wilson running for his life on every play. The Hawks may have added a few pieces to correct this issue but not enough to stop the dynamic EDGE duo of the Chargers. On the other end, the Legion of Boom is gone, but linebacker Bobby Wagner still holds down the middle of the defense. One of the best at his position, he will continue to make everyone around him better. Earl Thomas is still with the team, for now. He is currently demanding an extension from the team and, if he doesn’t get it, he wants to be traded as soon as possible. If I had to place my money somewhere, he won’t be there by the time this game takes place.Wilson will make some plays, including a few of his signature “how did he do that”-type stuff, Baldwin will catch a number of passes and possibly score, but the Seahawks will simply be unable to stop the Chargers and their plethora of playmakers on either side of the ball. Lord have mercy on Wilson as he tries to run away from Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa while simultaneously attempting to complete a pass around Hayward, Williams, and King.2018 Record: 7-1Breaking down the Chargers offensive game plan against the Bills If there is any good news following the Los Angeles Chargers sloppy and humiliating loss to the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs, it’s that it’s squarely in the rear-view mirror – and thank God for that. After a full week of practice, and hopefully a whole lot of film study, they’re headed to Buffalo for a Sunday tilt with Josh Allen and the hapless Bills. As you probably know by now, the Bills lost to the Ravens by 44 points last week in a game that saw Sean McDermott’s defense allow the Ravens to convert 43% of their third downs while accumulating 24 first downs, 369 total yards, five passing plays of 20+ yards and 47points.While I believe the Bills defense represents a favorable matchup for the Los Angeles offense, that doesn’t mean the matchup doesn’t come without its challenges. With that in mind, let’s take a look at my offensive game plan for Sunday’s game against the Bills鈥?Control Kyle WilliamsIt’s pretty clear Sean McDermott is trying to build the Buffalo defense in much the same way his group was built in Carolina – up the middle. Veteran defensive tackles Kyle Williams and Star Lotulelei lead the unit http://www.authenticlosangeleschargers.com/cheap-caleb-sturgis-jersey , with rookie Harrison Phillips also playing a key role. While I think Lotulelei is nearing the end of the line as a productive interior player, Williams and Phillips were extremely disruptive against Baltimore and figure to pose stiff challenge for guards Dan Feeney and Michael Schofield. The interior of the Chargers offensive line must play better against Williams and Phillips than they did against the interior of the Kansas City defensive line. That will almost certainly mean double-teaming Williams when he’s on the field. While I’m sure they’ll try to handle Phillips one-on-one as often as possible, it wouldn’t shock me to see him get double-teamed when Williams is resting. It could be a long day if they allow this tandem to short-circuit Melvin Gordon between the tackles and prevent Philip Rivers stop climbing the pocket. Window dressingThe Buffalo defense is relatively young and extremely fast at the second and third levels. They cover a ton of ground and close quickly, but many of them are still learning to play at this level and can be manipulated with things like play-action, misdirection and motion. This is particularly true of 2018 first round pick Tremaine Edmunds, who is a freak athlete but is also short on instincts and can be baited out of position. That’s why I’d expect to see the Chargers use a lot of play-action on early downs in anticipation of the Bills selling out to stop the run. With Travis Benjamin banged up and likely to either be limited or inactive, I’d also expect to see more of Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler on the field together, with Ekeler in the slot and being put motion quite a bit in hopes of sucking Edmunds out of position. Edmunds wants to be aggressive and come down hill, so the Chargers may as well oblige him, invite him to come down hill, and throw behind him. Run off tackleWhile Kyle Williams and Harrison Phillips played well against Baltimore, I thought the Buffalo edge players struggled mightily against the run. The Ravens had success running off tackle, generating a great deal of push against a position group largely devoid of talent. And that group will be without former first round pick Shaq Lawson this week. The key here is running quick hitting, down hill running plays that take advantage of the aggressiveness of players like Trent Murphy and Jerry Hughes. This approach should wear down a thin group of edge players and neutralize the speed of Tremaine Edmunds and his fellow linebackers. But don’t get too caught up in slow-developing gadget plays like jet sweeps and toss plays, as they give those linebackers a chance to recover and chase plays down with their speed. Bunch formations, tight end screens and wheel routesBuffalo Defensive Coordinator Leslie Frazier played a lot of zone at the second level last week in an effort to protect his young linebackers. This allowed Edmunds and Matt Milano to read and react on balls thrown in their area, but it also created a number of blown assignments when the Ravens attacked them with bunch formations and/or had their backs and tight ends run wheel routes underneath the receivers. These plays didn’t always go for monster gains, but they did help move the chains on a regular basis.Look for the Chargers to add these wrinkles to their game plan. The Buffalo linebackers tend to give up on wheel routes when the backs and tight ends start out in the flat, and it’s too late for them to recover when the intended target turns up field. This feels like an especially good place to feature Austin Ekeler and it isn’t hard to see him turning a couple mid-range wheel routes into splash plays. Own the deep middleJoe Flacco and the Ravens really hurt the Bills secondary with a number of intermediate and deep in-breaking and post routes last week. The Buffalo corners couldn’t run with Willie Snead, John Brown and Michael Crabtree, and the safeties were often late to help. Flacco completed five passes for 20+ yards and may have left at least another six or seven on the field.Look for the Chargers to lull the Bills to sleep. Ken Whisenhunt should start out with the easy throws – slants to Keenan Allen, a few dig routes to get Mike and Tyrell Williams going, and the aforementioned tight end screens and wheel routes. As the defense begins to creep up and overreact to the short throws in their area, he’ll sneak in the deep post routes. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least to see Mike Williams make a meaningful contribution in this part of the game plan this week, as his skill set seems to align perfectly with the weaknesses of a depleted secondary.Regardless of what happened against Kansas City last week, I do not anticipate the Bills posing much of a challenge for the Bolts on Sunday. I just don’t think they’re very good on either side of the ball and I expect the visitors to exploit a young and under-manned defense. As long as they control Kyle Williams and Harrison Phillips, manipulate the young linebackers with window dressing, run off tackle, employ bunch formations and attack the deep middle, they should move the ball well and put this game away early. That’s my game plan, what’s yours? Let me have it in the comments section鈥

The differences between Patrick Mahomes and Alex Smith are undeniable

one of them an up-and-coming Youth Brandon Mebane Jersey quarterback with a big arm and little experience, the other the consummate game manager whose ability to avoid mistakes has served him well over the years. There are also some similarities, though."Very businesslike," Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said. "Alex liked to have a lot of fun in the locker room as well. That's why he's an All-Pro in terms of one of my favorite teammates I've ever had. I think Pat is very similar, where he understands football but likes to go out and have fun."Here's another similarity the Chiefs would like to see between their current quarterback and his predecessor: Smith finished his time in Kansas City having beaten the Chargers eight straight times. That's the opponent for the start of the Mahomes era on Sunday. The Chiefs traded Smith to Washington in the offseason after getting a glimpse of Mahomes in Week 17 last year, when he dazzled in his starting debut against Denver. The Chiefs' playoff positioning had been wrapped up and most of the starters got the day off, but Mahomes nevertheless put on a show against the Broncos' starting defense in a come-from-behind road win.Mahomes thinks that experience, combined with a year spent working side-by-side with Smith Womens Michael Schofield Jersey , will serve him well when he leads the Chiefs into their season opener."Having the preseason games helped," he said. "Being able to start off with those games and then having that Denver game last year and seeing where I need to be at with my emotions and at the same time play with a lot of passion is something that will help me going into this one."Did it feel any different walking into the practice facility this week as the No. 1 quarterback?"Not necessarily," Mahomes said. "I get to compete and play a sport that I love. I get to play with a lot of guys I have built great relationships with. So I am going to just go out there and have fun and hopefully win a football game."If that sounds like a starter wise beyond his years, well, that's because in many ways Mahomes has been groomed for this moment since his childhood. His father, Pat Mahomes, spent 11 years in the major leagues, and his boy spent quite a few of those years bouncing around the clubhouse. He understands the pressures and responsibilities of being a professional athlete."I haven't seen any nerves. I know he's excited to play. I think the whole team is Authentic Keenan Allen Jersey ," Chiefs coach Andy Reid said."Probably both teams are, to get out of camp and get this thing going. He is excited. I haven't seen anything that would tell you he's nervous. He's a pretty confident kid in his ability and I think he just wants to get going and play the game."Fans in Kansas City may be even more eager to see Mahomes on the field. They've waited an entire generation for the Chiefs to draft a quarterback in the first round, and see him develop into the clear starter. The last to do so was Todd Blackledge, who flamed out after he was selected in 1983 — the same draft that produced John Elway, Jim Kelly and Dan Marino.Starters since then have ranged from Steve DeBerg and Dave Krieg to Joe Montana, who was on the downward side of his illustrious career. There was Steve Bono and Elvis Grbac, and Damon Huard and Tyler Thigpen, and a four-year stretch under Matt Cassel marked by mediocrity at best. When it comes to expectations for Mahomes Womens Virgil Green Jersey , the floor is mediocrity. The ceiling? A championship. The march toward that begins when the Chiefs visit the Chargers on Sunday."Probably walking off the field hopefully with a win would be the best moment I am looking forward to," Mahomes said. "Hopefully we can go out there and compete on every aspect, every side of the ball — offense, defense, special teams — and come out with the win."Notes: Safety Eric Berry (heel) did not practice Thursday, making it even more unlikely that he plays against the Chargers. Berry is still considered day to day, but he has been out since early in training camp. "We've kept great communication with him," Reid said. "We'll just see how it goes."Los Angeles Chargers vs. New Orleans Saints Open Thread The Los Angeles Chargers tonight play host to the New Orleans Saints. We should expect extended looks from the Chargers projected starters including second-year offensive lineman Forrest Lamp who will see his first action of the preseason. Philip Rivers has looked very sharp thus far and one would hope he will continue his impressive play http://www.sandiegochargersteamonline.com/kyzir-white-jersey , but most importantly we will hope he stays completely healthy.Mike Williams has shown us all why the Chargers spent a high draft pick on him last year and it will be exciting to watch him again as he tries to carry that momentum through this week and onto the regular season. The competition at running back behind Melvin Gordon has been worth watching and should continue to be tonight. On defense, we get to see rookie Justin Jones take the field and without Darius Philon suited up he should get a lot of playing time to shake off the rust and prove that he belongs.Overall, the defense is in for a serious test against the Saints offense and they’ll be without their top corners, so it could be a struggle.

Then it happened on Sunday. And then it happened again on Monday night.Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers shattered the single-game completion percentage record on Sunday, completing 28 of 29 passes, and then Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota nearly broke that record on Monday, completing 22 of 23 passes after a late incompletion broke up a perfect game. The all-time record book for highest completion percentage in a game now looks like this:96.6% Philip Rivers, November 25, 201895.7%, Marcus Mariota, November 26, 201892.3%, Kurt Warner, September 20, 2009But it’s not just the single-game records that are falling. Completion percentages are up around the NFL. Saints quarterback Drew Brees owns the record for the highest completion percentage in a season, a record he set last year when he completed 72.0 percent of his passes. This year Brees is likely to shatter his own record: Brees has completed 76.4 percent of his passes this year.Passing offenses are playing so much better this year than they ever have before that it’s hard to make comparisons to past years. The league average completion rate this year is 65.3 percent, a number that would have led the league in 1999, when MVP Kurt Warner was the league leader with a 65.1 percent completion rate. These are not your father’s NFL passing offenses. BALTIMORE RAVENS (9-7)New faces: QB Lamar Jackson, WR Michael Crabtree Cheap Cameron Jordan Jersey , WR Willie Snead, TE Hayden Hurst, QB Robert Griffin III, WR John Brown, defensive coordinator Don Martindale.Key losses: WR Jeremy Maclin, WR Mike Wallace, RB Danny Woodhead, CB Lardarius Webb, WR Michael Campanaro, TE Benjamin Watson, RB Terrance West, QB Ryan Mallett, defensive coordinator Dean Pees.Strengths: Defense kept Ravens in playoff hunt until final game of season. Baltimore led NFL with 22 interceptions, 34 takeaways and three shutouts. Ravens allowed 18.9 points per game, sixth best in league, but that also faltered in latter stages of 39-38 loss to Pittsburgh and crushing 31-27 defeat against Cincinnati in finale. Terrell Suggs had 11 sacks last year and still looks strong at age 36. Brandon Carr led DBs with four INTs http://www.saintscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-demario-davis-jersey , and must come up big while CB Jimmy Smith opens season serving four-game suspension.Weaknesses: Offense sputtered last season, and there are no guarantees new receiving corps and rejuvenated QB Joe Flacco will make difference. Flacco averaged meager 5.72 yards per attempt, threw 13 INTs and was sacked 27 times. Return of guard Marshal Yanda, who missed 14 games with leg injury, could give Flacco protection he sorely needs. Addition of Crabtree, Snead and Brown can only help offense that ranked 29th in yards passing last year.Fantasy Players To Watch: Brown. Speedster gives Ravens deep threat missing since Torrey Smith was sprinting downfield in 2013. Brown signed one-year contract in hopes of showing rest of league he's more like player who amassed 1,003 yards with Arizona in 2015 than injury-riddled receiver who last year had 21 catches for 299 yards with Cardinals.Vegas Says: Super Bowl 50-1. Over/under wins 8.5.Expectations: Ravens haven't reached playoffs in three straight years, longest dry spell since 1990s. General manager Ozzie Newsome, who enters final year before handing reins to Eric DeCosta, has assembled team capable of threatening Pittsburgh in AFC North. For that to happen, Flacco must return to form and get some help from set of receivers that represents upgrade from 2017 group. Martindale promises to deliver aggressive defense after earning promotion from LB coach. It's worth noting, however, that Martindale hasn't been defensive coordinator since 2010 with Denver, when team gave up more yards and points than any.

Mark Ingram could see that the New Orleans Saints'

ffense was doing fine without him while he was at home in Florida Wil Lutz Jersey , watching on television like any other fan during his four-game suspension. The veteran running back also would like to think New Orleans could be even better with him in the game plan, particularly in light of how fresh and motivated he feels after spending a month away from the club."I've had a lot of stuff pent up and built up and I'm ready to go. I'm hungry and ready to play ball and just help our team," said Ingram, whose suspension stemmed from his use of a banned substance. "They've been playing well, so I'm just trying to make us stronger and make us more explosive."Ingram joins a unit that has averaged 418.3 yards and 34.3 points per game. Alvin Kamara, the 2017 offensive rookie of the year, has gotten more work in Ingram's absence and has responded by devastating defenses with his dynamism on a variety of runs and receptions.Kamara leads the NFL with 611 yards from scrimmage (275 rushing, 336 passing) and is tied with several players for the NFL lead in TDs with six."He's been a monster, man, just being able to carry the load and what he's doing is special," Ingram said. Now the Saints will see if Ingram and Kamara — a tandem called "Boom and Zoom" by many fans — can again co-exist in the same backfield as well as they did last season."I'm not worried about it," Ingram said. "I'm going to just do me. I'm not Alvin. Alvin's not me so I'm just going to do what I do, do what I've been doing to get to this point in my career."Saints coach Sean Payton said he will have to "figure out the balance" of snaps between the two Pro Bowl running backs starting with Monday night's game against the Washington Redskins."Of course, you have a little bit more versatility with someone with Mark's experience and I know it will be good for us offensively to have him back," Payton said.Although the Saints have been among the NFL's top offenses through the first four weeks, Payton said Ingram's return is "significant in a number of ways," ranging from his aptitude in pass protection to the way his presence allows the Saints to reduce the physical toll on Kamara."We talked all offseason about how this first month was going to be without Mark," Payton recalled. "The idea was for us to kind of keep those touches (for Kamara) in a similar area (to last season), the playing time in a similar area — and of course we weren't able to do that. In other words, his numbers did increase, and yet there's a wear and tear that takes place with that. When you're looking at a 16-week season, we look at it as having two outstanding running backs and I think they complement each other extremely well."Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Ingram's return "changes a lot" because of how much harder it is for defenses to anticipate where the ball will go when both Ingram and Kamara are on the field together."Those two guys being in the game together, it's a tough deal," Gruden said. "You know in-between-the-tackle runs will be more prevalent now. The power running game is back up and running. The things that they haven't it done without Ingram, they might do this week."Saints players often refer to Ingram as the consummate teammate — someone whose energy http://www.saintsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-demario-davis-jersey , unselfishness and work ethic are contagious.Ingram's affection for his teammates was apparent last Sunday night when he drove out to the airport to meet the team after New Orleans' victory over the New York Giants."I was excited that they won, so I just wanted to experience that a little bit," Ingram said.Left tackle Terron Armstead described the scene at the airport as "just joy," adding, "Mark is a guy loved by the entire locker room and organization. It's just his energy that he brings. His positivity he brings to the team.""Mark is a huge addition," Armstead added. "I feel like our offense works best when — not just the offense, our entire team works best when the run game is going. When we can impose our will on opposing defenses."Ingram spent the past month in Florida, staying in shape with former NFL receiver Anquan Bolden — a long-time workout partner."He's retired, but he goes to work out every single day," Ingram said. "It was good to have a buddy to be able to work with and not just be out there putting in the work by myself."Saints players and Payton said Ingram looks ready."I mean, he wasn't gone for a year-and-a-half, or been a castaway on an island," Payton said. "It was four weeks. He's in good shape."New Orleans Saints Triumphs: First Playoff Win The New Orleans Saints were known as one of the NFL's "hard luck" franchises for many years since their inception in 1967. The team didn't even have a winning season for the first 20 years of their existence. The Saints finally qualified for the playoffs in 1987, then again following the 1990, '91, and '92 campaigns, but failed to come away with a victory in any of those appearances. Today, Canal Street Chronicles continues our offseason series of the Saints Triumphs and Tragedies with an unforgettable moment in their 34th NFL season. FIRST PLAYOFF WIN The date was December 30, 2000, and the New Orleans Saints had qualified for the playoffs for the first time since the 1992 season. The Saints were the most unlikely playoff participant of the 2000 season. They entered the postseason as champions of the NFC West with a 10-6 record, but were coming off of a 3-13 disaster the year before. They were led by a first time head coach in Jim Haslett, and a first time starter at quarterback in Aaron Brooks, who had replaced injured starter Jeff Blake down the stretch of the year. New Orleans was led by a powerful and opportunistic defense, as linemen La'Roi Glover (a league leading 17 sacks), Joe Johnson (12 sacks) Marcus Williams Jersey , Darren Howard (11), and Willie Whitehead (5.5) combined on 45.5 of the team's 66 sacks, and linebackers Keith Mitchell and Mark Fields earned Pro Bowl berths alongside Glover and Johnson. Offensively, the Saints boasted the best pair of offensive tackles in the league with Pro Bowler Kyle Turley and future Hall of Famer Willie Roaf. They paved the way for 2nd year running back Ricky Williams, who rushed for 1,000 yards and 8 touchdowns in just ten games, before going down for the season in week 11 with an ankle injury. Wide receiver Joe Horn had 94 receptions for 1,340 yards and 8 scores in his first year with New Orleans, earning his first Pro Bowl bid. Opposing the Saints was a longtime rival, the defending Super Bowl champions, and the "Greatest Show on Turf", the St. Louis Rams. The Rams were also led by a first time head coach in Mike Martz, and had some of the most dangerous offensive players in the game with future Hall of Famers quarterback Kurt Warner and running back Marshall Faulk, along with All-Pro receivers Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt. St. Louis had stumbled through the middle of the year with injuries, but the team was again healthy as it entered the playoffs, and they carried with them the NFL's top ranked offense in yardage, points scored, passing yardage, touchdown passes, and rushing touchdowns. The Rams had defeated the Saints 26-21 less than a week before in the Dome to finish at 10-6 as well, losing the division title to New Orleans in a tiebreaker because of the Saints 7-1 divisional record. The defending champions wasted no time getting on the board with a 68-yd. drive to open the game, culminated with a 17-yd. touchdown strike from Warner to Bruce. The Saints answered later with a touchdown drive of their own to tie the game, ending with a Brooks touchdown pass to wideout Robert Wilson. Faulk, who had run through the Saints defense for 220 yards less than a week before, was held in check this time around Authentic Alvin Kamara Jersey , running for just 24 yards, although he did catch 7 passes for 99 yards. The Saints defense forced 3 interceptions and a fumble from Warner, while sacking him 3 times on the day. The game was a defensive struggle through the rest of the first half, although a Doug Brien field goal later in the second quarter gave New Orleans a 10-7 lead heading into the break. Aaron Brooks lost his favorite receiver, Horn, early in the game with a knee injury, but threw for 266 yards and 4 touchdowns on the day. Saints wide receiver Willie Jackson stepped up to star in Horn's absence, catching 6 passes for 142 yards and 3 touchdowns, the first coming midway through the 3rd quarter to widen the Saints lead to ten points. Jackson then had touchdown receptions on back to back possessions early in the 4th quarter, giving the Saints a 31-7 lead with less than twelve minutes remaining and sending the Superdome crowd into a frenzy in anticipation of the franchise's first playoff win. The defending champs weren't going down without a fight however, and any Saints fan will tell you that this franchise has never made things easy on their loyal followers. The Rams roared back, first scoring on a Warner touchdown pass to Ricky Proehl to narrow the score to 31-13 after a failed 2-pt. conversion. Saints fans thought they could breathe easier, after safety Sammy Knight's second interception of the game thwarted another Ram drive deep in New Orleans territory with just 6:34 left on the clock. Another three and out by the Saints offense was then followed by a lightning fast St. Louis touchdown drive of under a minute in duration. The Rams successfully recovered an onside kick afterward, and drove quickly for another touchdown and successful 2-pt. conversion, closing the score to 31-28 with 2:43 left and bringing every Saints fan to the edge of their seat in fear of a historic collapse. New Orleans this time recovered the ensuing onside kick, giving them possession at the St. Louis 37-yd. line, but could still not convert a 1st down, forcing them to punt from the Rams 41 with 1:51 still remaining on the clock. Saints punter Toby Gowin kicked the ball deep into St. Louis territory, where explosive Rams returner Az-Zahir Hakim awaited. Hakim moved to field the ball at his own 8-yd. line, but muffed the punt, where it bounced into the waiting arms of Saints fullback Brian Milne at the St. Louis 11-yd. line. One unforgettable call by Saints play-by-play announcer Jim Henderson and three qb kneel downs to end the game later the New Orleans Saints had their first playoff victory in team history. The Saints would lose to the Vikings in Minnesota 34-16 in the following week's divisional playoff to end their memorable 2000 season. It would be six years, a coaching change, and a devastating natural disaster before the team would return to the postseason. Sean Payton and Drew Brees would eventually bring unparalleled success to the New Orleans franchise, but the unlikely run of the 2000 Saints would provide joy previously unknown to a long-suffering fan base.

Going into the offseason

the Minnesota Vikings had Minnesota Vikings Hats three quarterbacks on their roster that many considered to be, at the very least, solid options. They had Case Keenum, who was coming off of the best season of his career in leading the Vikings to the 2017 NFC Championship Game. They had Sam Bradford, who looked amazing in the 2017 opener before getting injured and giving way to Keenum. And they had Teddy Bridgewater, who fought back from a gruesome knee injury to get back on the field and had endeared himself to many of the Vikings’ faithful despite not putting up huge statistical numbers.Yet, when the time came to give out a big quarterback contract in March of 2018, Vikings’ GM Rick Spielman, head coach Mike Zimmer, and offensive coordinator John DeFilippo decided that the answer to that question was “none of the above.” Instead, they wined, dined, and eventually gave the first fully-guaranteed contract in the NFL’s free agency era to Kirk Cousins. Cousins had bided his time in Washington, playing under the franchise tag for two consecutive years, but was never really embraced by the coaching staff in the nation’s capital. . .or the majority of the fan base, for that matter. It’s still early in the season, but to this point it appears that the people that run the Vikings might kind of sort of have an idea about what they’re doing. We’ll skip Bridgewater, who hasn’t seen the field in 2018 because he’s backing up Drew Brees in New Orleans. In Arizona Minnesota Vikings Womens Hoodie , Bradford started the first three games of the season for the Cardinals (who the Vikings will see this coming Sunday). In those three games, he threw for a total of 400 yards, including a 90-yard performance in a shutout loss against the Rams. He was pulled late in the team’s Week 3 loss to Chicago in favor of rookie Josh Rosen. In each of the last two games, not only has Bradford not played, he hasn’t even been active. That means that not only was he behind Rosen on the depth chart, he’s now behind Mike Glennon.Yes, Mike Glennon. But at least he’s getting about $20 million this year to not dress on game day.In Denver, things haven’t been much better for Keenum. He got off to a decent enough start, throwing three touchdown passes (and three interceptions) in a season-opening victory over Seattle. Then, he had no touchdown passes in Week 2.Or Week 3.Or Week 4.He finally got back on track against the Jets on Sunday with two more scoring throws, but the Broncos are now riding a three-game losing streak after winning their first two games.Cousins, on the other hand, has been pretty good. With Brees yet to play in Week 5 action, Cousins is currently second in the NFL in passing yardage (behind Jared Goff), and is currently completing over 71% of his passes, despite being one of the most pressured quarterbacks in the National Football League so far this season. He’s thrown 11 touchdown passes through the team’s first five games, and has thrown only two interceptions, both of which came on passes that really should have been caught by their intended receiver. He’s on pace to shatter just about every Vikings’ single-season passing record.I understand that Cousins gets the benefit of an incredibly talented supporting case Womens Customized Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , with Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs comprising the best receiving duo in the NFL and Kyle Rudolph continuing to do his thing as well. Keenum and Bradford undoubtedly benefited from having those players to work with as well. However, Cousins was good before he got the opportunity to work with this group of skill position players. The Vikings knew that Cousins’ skills would be even more enhanced by getting to work with those guys. Keenum and Bradford, on the other hand, got the benefit of playing with those players as well but couldn’t get the Vikings to the promised land.I can’t imagine that there are a lot of holdouts left in the pro-Keenum or pro-Bradford or pro-Bridgewater camps after the first five weeks of this season. However, at this early juncture, it sure does look like the Vikings have made the right decision.Everson Griffen update: More mixed signals from the Vikings When we last spoke about the ongoing situation with Minnesota Vikings’ defensive end Everson Griffen, it was to bring you a report from Adam Schefter that said the team didn’t expect #97 to be back on the field any time soon.As you might expect with a situation like this, things change quite a bit. Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune was on hand for Mike Zimmer’s press conference on Thursday afternoon, and brings us the following pair of tweets:Krammer did confirm that Griffen’s return would not be this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals at U.S. Bank Stadium. As we’ve stated in pretty much every story about the Griffen situation since we first got wind of it, obviously the most important thing is for Griffen to get himself in a good place mentally, and then worry about making a return to the football field. As much as we all want to see him out there, that has to be the first priority for him and the team. That said, I’m certain this won’t be the last update that we’ll have on Everson Griffen going forward. We don’t have any sources or anything like that within the organization, so we’re just sort of rolling with the reports we get from other sources on this one. But, if Mike Zimmer’s demeanor on Thursday is any indication, we might be getting closer to the return of Sack Daddy after all.

Vikings at Titans Final Score: Minnesota finishes with 13-3 victory over

Tennessee The 2018 preseason is officially over Authentic Riley Reiff Jersey , and from the action that took place in Nashville this evening, nobody is happier about that than the Minnesota Vikings and the Tennessee Titans. The purple finished their preseason on a high note, as they took down the Titans by a final score of 13-3 at Nissan Stadium. The first half was relatively slow, action-wise. The two teams went into the locker room at halftime with the score tied at 3-3 and neither team really able to do much on offense. In the second half, Kyle Sloter took over at quarterback for the relatively ineffective Trevor Siemian, and pretty well solidified his spot on the 53-man roster. After Siemian went 6-of-11 for 55 yards in the first half, Sloter went 11-of-15 for 130 yards and a 24-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Zylstra.Zylstra led the Vikings in receiving on the night, and definitely made his case to be included on the 53-man roster as well. The battle for the #3 running back spot appears to have been decided this evening as well. Roc Thomas got some carries early on, but departed before halftime with what appeared to be a left ankle injury. Mike Boone took over the lion’s share of the carries from there http://www.minnesotavikingsteamonline.com/linval-joseph-jersey , and finished the night with 56 yards and 15 carries. Boone also chipped in a pair of receptions for 53 yards, including a 46-yard catch and run on a screen pass.Daniel Carlson, who had some definite issues against the Seattle Seahawks in the third preseason game, was 2-for-2 on field goals on Thursday night against the Titans, connecting from 39 yards in the first half and 22 yards in the second half. The Vikings finish their preseason with a record of 3-1, and will host the San Francisco 49ers a week from Sunday in the regular season opener. The loss for the Titans tonight concludes a winless preseason for them (0-4), and they’ll start the regular season on South Beach with a contest against the Miami Dolphins. We’ll have plenty more to talk about with this game over the next 24 hours or so, and then we’ll turn our attention to the final roster cutdown, which need to be completed by 3:00 PM Central time on Saturday afternoon. The Minnesota Vikings conclude the 2018 preseason with a 13-3 barnburner over the Tennessee Titans. Thank you to everyone that got their coverage of this week’s game right here at The Daily Norseman.
