Mike Tomlin's heart was heavy when he went to work on Sunday morning

The Steelers coach wasn't alone. All of Pittsburgh felt broken after 11 innocent people were killed in a shooting at a synagogue that Tomlin estimated is "800 yards" from his home. But true to its steely reputation http://www.authenticsnewenglandpatriots.com/cheap-david-andrews-jersey , the city — and the Steelers — stayed strong."I'm a member of the Squirrel Hill community personally," Tomlin said after Pittsburgh's 33-18 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. "Words cannot express how we feel as members of the community. I'm not going to make this about me or about us. We're just glad we are here to serve our community if we can in some small way."Tomlin had addressed his players about the shooting on Saturday night, hours after a gunman walked into the Tree of Life Synagogue during services and killed eight men and three women ranging in age from 54 to 97. The dead included Cecil and David Rosenthal, whose sister, Michele, is the Steelers' former community relations director. The deaths hit home for a team as connected to its fan base as any in the NFL.Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said he was overcome with emotion on his drive to Heinz Field, during pregame warmups and when the stadium observed a moment of silence before kickoff."It was crazy tough and especially of Michele and the closeness that we have with her," said Roethlisberger, who threw a pair of touchdown passes to Antonio Brown. "Coach always talked about when you step inside the white lines everything else has to kind of go away, but sometimes it's easier said than done. I told the guys during the post-team prayer, we're thankful for a victory, but we also understand there are bigger things, there is life."I am glad we can give people maybe three hours of a break of not thinking about it all the time. That is what sports does sometimes — it helps you to heal. It's over, people are going to enjoy this, but reality still sets in for a lot of people."James Conner rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns for the Steelers (4-2-1), who looked so vulnerable earlier this season when they tied Cleveland in the opener. But with Conner making Le'Veon Bell's messy contract holdout less impactful every game behind an offensive line backing up praise about Conner, the Steelers appear to be the class of the AFC North again. For Conner, who played college ball at Pitt and won his own battled with cancer, Sunday's win went deeper than just being the 15th in a row at Heinz Field over the rival Browns."Today was much bigger than a game of football," said Conner, who scored on runs of 12 and 22 yards. "Our city took a hit, and our hearts are with all of the victims and their families."ROAD CREWThe Browns lost their 25th straight road game, 20th in a row under embattled coach Hue Jackson. While Jackson's days appear numbered, there are also rumblings about offensive coordinator Todd Haley's future.Jackson caused an uproar last week following a loss at Tampa Bay when he pledged to "dive" in and help Cleveland's struggling offense. Well, the Browns were still plagued by many of the same problems and Jackson continues to insist he and Haley are not at odds.Still, there's drama."There's nothing wrong with my relationship with Haley Youth Rob Gronkowski Jersey ," Jackson said. "I said what I said last week, and obviously, it had legs, but I never said I wanted to take away play calling. I said I wanted to help. That's it. The only thing that's going on is we need to get better. We need to coach better."GROWING PAINSBrowns rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield won't forget his introduction to the Steelers.Mayfield threw two touchdown passes — the second with 6 seconds left — and had some nice moments in his fifth career start. But he was under pressure all day, took some hard shots, and it seems as if the Browns aren't doing enough to cater the offense to his strengths.Mayfield looked beaten as he left the podium and slowly headed toward the bus for the 2 陆-hour bus ride back to Ohio. He joined a long list of Browns QBs to take their lumps in Pittsburgh."I've seen better days," said Mayfield, who finished 22 of 36 for 180 yards. "But that's the nature of playing a good team. They're physical."DOWNTOWN BROWNBrown finished with six catches for 74 yards, just another day at the office for arguably the game's best receiver. Brown has caught a TD pass in five straight games and he and Roethlisberger have connected on 67 career TDs, tying them with Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne for the seventh most by a QB-WR tandem in league history.Roethlisberger was unaware the Steelers are 8-0 when Brown has a completion of 40 yards or more."Really," Big Ben said. "Let's throw it deep every single play and see what happens."Pats Pulpit Review: “Five Rings” by Jerry Thornton To steal a phrase from another one of the better sequels in recent memory (unless you weren’t born yet when this movie came out, in which case, your hazing will be going on a beer run for the rest of us upperclassmen):This is meant as the highest of compliments: “Five Rings”, the sequel to Thornton’s 2016 retrospective “From Darkness to Dynasty”, is the perfect page-turner to read at the pool or the beach, assuming you don’t mind occasionally snort-laughing and spitting your beer out in front of everyone. It’s effortlessly pick-up-able, no matter whether you read a few chapters at night a couple days this week or crush the whole thing on a plane ride or a weekend at the lake. Also, the best part?Unlike other beach reads, this one’s a true story. Not “based on a true story”. Not based on a book that’s based on a true story. Not like Rudy where it’s loosely based on a little dude that technically existed but then we find out almost nothing in the movie that all of us watched in the last week of elementary school when the teachers know that nobody’s getting shit done was true. This one? It’s true. All of it.As with all great stories, let’s start in the middle.(Nice humblebrag on the cover, by the way. “By the author of ‘From Darkness to Dynasty’, because in addition to being a writer, blogger, radio personality, and standup comedian, Jerry’s an AUTHOR now as well Youth James White Jersey , you see!)Hey, it’s not bragging if it’s true. And speaking of which, after Jerry’s excellent recounting of the Patriots’ formative decades as the NFL’s case study in “You’re not even a has-been, you’re a never-was” in From Darkness to Dynasty, “Five Rings” picks up right where FDTD left off - in 2001, when everything came together beyond our wildest dreams and just a few years down the road “It’s not bragging if it’s true” might be the most modest (and polite) thing that’s ever come out of any Patriots fan’s mouth.Right from the get-go - a recollection of Thornton’s experience at the White House after the Patriots won the 28-3 Bowl - Jerry’s style immediately hits you in the mouth like Rodney Harrison as a 1:1:1 mix of ESPN’s 30 for 30, VH1’s Behind the Music, and...the original Hangover movie mixed with Deadpool and Ferris Bueller’s IDGAF fourth-wall-breaking, I guess? Diving right into the 2001 season, the section appropriately titled “O” (like 1 ring...get it? get it?) kicks off with the ‘01 Patriots team, 9/11, and Drew Bledsoe getting rocked within an inch of his life, and that’s basically the part where if the previous decades of Patriots fandom were waiting in line for the best roller coaster in Six Flags for three hours in the blazing sun, 2001 was getting all the way to the top of the first peak, throwing your hands up, and screaming your guts out in that delirious SWEET MOTHER OF PEARL THIS FREAKING RULESSSSS voice the entire rest of the ride.Remarkably, since all of us have watched the highlights from the ‘01, ‘03, and ‘04 Super Bowl victories a million times, where Five Rings really shines for the diehard fan is the “man, SO close” runs of the teams that didn’t bring it home. The ‘06 team that could’ve hung god knows how many points on Sexy Rexy and the Chicago Bears if they hadn’t blown an 18-point lead to prime Peyton Manning in Indy. ‘07 requires no explanation. And since we’ve just witnessed the Legion of Boom basically self-destruct in Seattle this past season, it’s almost a piece of forgotten history at this point that Bill Belichick’s Patriots, by all logic, should have been toast when the legendary defenses of the early/mid ‘00s either all retired like Rodney Harrison and Tedy Bruschi, or got traded like Mike Vrabel and Richard Seymour. That should have been it for the Patriots dynasty. Good job, good effort http://www.authenticsnewenglandpatriots.com/cheap-eric-rowe-jersey , time to let someone else be the best for a while.Instead, Jerry’s recounting of the draft choices, the scheme changes, the free agent swings and misses, and Belichick zigging when everyone expected him to zag somehow hit the shortcut in Koopa Troopa Beach in Mario Kart 64, skipped all that “rebuilding” stuff, and proceeded to hang 40 points on everyone they played every week. Defense? Eh, we’ll figure that part out sooner or later. And instead of gracefully fading into mediocrity like pretty much every NFL dynasty to date has done when their OG stars hang up their spikes, New England just kept thrashing the rest of the league like a baby pitbull with a boat-rope chew toy. NO MERCY.I’m avoiding putting any snippets from the book itself in here on purpose, because A) read the damn book, and B) in the same way that you can hear a killer song from years past and go “Oh MAN!” while you’re instantly transported back to a precise moment in time, half the fun of reading Five Rings is subconsciously pairing up the Patriots’ mind-boggling twenty-year run of stuffing the rest of the league in a locker with whatever else was going on in your life at the time. The Super Bowl parties you remember. The parties you don’t remember. The family, the friends, the games you shivered through or sweat through or road-tripped to. The part where we learned losing championships to the Giants twice in five seasons really can make us feel dead inside. And the part in 2014 where Brady and - wait for it - another team that was equal parts homegrown talent, free agents from the Island of Misfit Toys, and one *extremely high-priced former enemy turned brother, stared down what was, at the time, the largest comeback in Super Bowl history (they were down 10 points!) and Bill was on the sidelines keeping it like this:You know what happened next.Job well done, Jerry, and we all hope your title is out of date really, really soon.PATS PULPIT OFFICIAL REVIEW SCORE:

While the team showed some inconsistencies, it again saw contributions by every layer of its depth chart. Let’s take a closer look at the snap count numbers from the Patriots’ 38-24 win:Julian Edelman had an eventful return...After missing the Patriots’ last 23 games due to injury and suspension, Julian Edelman returned to the field on Thursday and had a busy night: the veteran, who finished the game with seven catches for 57 yards, was on the field for 70% of New England’s offensive snaps (48 of 69). With Edelman back in the lineup, the Patriots’ wide receiver group is finally starting to take shape. The 32-year old will serve as one of the top options at the position with Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett, and Josh Gordon also regular members of the rotation....while Cordarrelle Patterson was used as a role playerMeanwhile, offseason acquisition Cordarrelle Patterson appears to have been given a more specialized role within the offense: New England is trying to take advantage his speed and vision as a runner in the screen game and on misdirection plays. On Thursday, Patterson was therefore on the field for just eight snaps (of 69; 12%) but finished with two receptions for 11 yards and a touchdown. He will likely be a package-based option moving forward, and not the 40% wide receiver he was prior to Edelman’s return. The defensive tackle rotation is in full effectNew England is deep along its defensive line and the interior spots are a perfect reflection of that. Against the Colts, the Patriots rotated its four top tackles on a regular basis with none of them playing more than half of the defense’s 83 snaps: Lawrence Guy led the group (40; 48%), with Adam Butler (37; 45%) http://www.newenglandpatriotsteamonline.com/rob-gronkowski-jersey , Danny Shelton (35; 42%), and Malcom Brown (22; 27%) also seeing considerable playing time. Brown’s likely would have been higher if not for a second-quarter injury.Kyle Van Noy continues to be the Patriots’ number one linebackerWhile Dont’a Hightower is the defense’s on-field signal caller and one of its leaders, he currently is not the number one linebacker in terms of playing time: Kyle Van Noy is. Hightower was on the field for 67% of the team’s defensive snaps (56 of 83) against Indianapolis, while Van Noy played 88% (73 of 83). The duo will continue serving as the one-two punch at the position, with Elandon Roberts the first player off the bench (41; 49%).The rookie cornerbacks saw limited actionOne week after J.C. Jackson recorded his first career interception, the undrafted rookie was on the field for just five defensive snaps verus the Colts. Seventh-round draft pick Keion Crossen also saw only limited playing time as New England opted to extensively use its top three at the position – Stephon Gilmore, Jason McCourty, Jonathan Jones – against a usually potent but injury-decimated Indianapolis offense.Seven players were on the field for 100% of the snapsOn offense, six players did not leave the field on Thursday: the five starters along the offensive line went wire-to-wire, as did quarterback Tom Brady. On defense, meanwhile, safety Devin McCourty was the lone player not to be given a break. Despite forcing and recovering a fumble, the team captain had a poor performance against the Colts – and needs to bounce back on Sunday versus the high-flying Kansas City Chiefs.

Chiefs on Sunday night www.thepatriotsfootballauthentic.com , one decided on the final play. The 43-40 contest was an emotional one throughout and it was only natural to see the Patriots express the same emotion when entering the locker room after the game (via the Patriots’ Twitter):Following the usual amount of handshakes and high-fives, Bill Belichick took the floor to congratulate his team to the win. “Congratulations,” the Patriots head coach told his team. “Talk about competing for 60 minutes, that’s what it took. You guys fought your ass off out there. That’s a good football team, give them credit for the way they played – we just played a little bit better. Talk about close games, we had one today.”Belichick went on to tell his team that is needs to “keep it rolling” before ordering it back to work the very next day. Team captain Matthew Slater took the floor after the coach to break down the traditional postgame huddle: “Let’s keep getting better, let’s keep believing, fellas. How do we feel, though, about knocking off the Chiefs?” Awww yeah. The Patriots also released a sights-and-sounds clip from the game on their website New England Patriots T-Shirt , including a conversation between Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady leading up to the game-winning field goal attempt.AFC East Report: Jets and Bills name their starting quarterbacks ahead of the regular season opener There is arguably no division in the NFL that carries as much quarterback intrigue as the AFC East: you have two top-10 rookies, a player coming off season-ending injury, and the 41-year old greatest quarterback of all time. This mix should make for big entertainment this season and will certainly make for big headlines – the latter holding true once more yesterday, when two of the teams named their starters for the regular season opener. The Buffalo Bills were the first team to announce their starter for their week one matchup on Monday: second-year man Nathan Peterman will lead his team into its opening contest against the Baltimore Ravens – a team that also invested a first-round pick in a quarterback this year. Peterman, who is coming off a strong preseason performance, was chosen over the seventh overall draft pick, Josh Allen.Entering the draft, Allen was seen as a developmental option and so far during his career in Buffalo he appeared to be just that. And while he had his moments, he apparently did not yet give the coaching staff confidence to go with him over the Peterman. Meanwhile, Peterman will try to improve on a terrible rookie season that saw him finish with a completion percent below 50% and five interceptions (as opposed to two touchdowns) in four games. The New York Jets also announced their starting quarterback yesterday New England Patriots Hats , and the title unsurprisingly went to rookie Sam Darnold. After joining the Jets as the third overall pick of this year’s draft, Darnold quickly showed why New York felt confident trading up to get him: despite some natural growing pains, he looked ready to take over for incumbent Josh McCown and will now get a chance to prove his value on national television next Monday night. At 21 years and 97 days, Darnold becomes the youngest starting quarterback in the NFL and only the third Jets rookie to start for the team on opening day. New York fans will have to hope that he turns out better than the last two: fellow former first-round selection Mark Sanchez and ex-second-round pick Geno Smith all flamed out with the Jets rather quickly. Now, it is Darnold’s turn to try and grow into the franchise quarterback the team has not had since the days of... well, Joe Namath? While the Bills and Jets will enter 2018 with new starting quarterbacks, the rest of the division is set: the New England Patriots will field reigning league MVP Tom Brady, while the Miami Dolphins’ Ryan Tannehill returned after a de-facto two-year absence.

Los Angeles Chargers safety

Jaylen Watkins was called for a personal foul on the NFL’s new lowering the helmet penalty on the first play from scrimmage of Saturday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.Unlike many of the penalties over the first two weeks of the preseason http://www.authenticlosangeleschargers.com/cheap-trevor-williams-jersey , this one seemed to be a pretty clear-cut violation of the new rules.Russell Wilson connected with Jaron Brown for a 29-yard gain as Watkins and Jahleel Addae converged on the Seattle wide receiver. Addae began to pull down Brown from behind as Watkins lowered his head and contacted Brown in his helmet.Watkins was not ejected from the game as the contact wasn’t a flagrant violation. However, he would later leave the game for a different reason as he injured his right leg in the second quarter and had to be helped off the field by trainers. He was listed as questionable to return with a knee injury by the team. Patrick Mahomes had just thrown six touchdown passes in a record-setting performance against the Steelers, one that gave the Chiefs a big road win and may have stamped them as the AFC's top team, when someone asked him how he planned to celebrate his birthday.Mahomes said he planned to watch film of the San Francisco 49ers.If that was merely the politically correct answer, though, and the 23-year-old first-year starter planned to hit the town, he should have no shortage of Chiefs fans willing to buy him drinks. They'll probably still be celebrating St. Patrick's big day."I don't think that you could expect more from anyone," said Chris Conley, one of five different receivers to catch a TD pass."He's handled the times where he's made the plays really well. He's handled the times where he hasn't. That speaks volumes."To be frank, there haven't been many times where he hasn't made the plays.Mahomes was so dynamic in a Week 17 win at Denver last season that the Chiefs traded away Pro Bowl quarterback Alex Smith and gave Mahomes the starting job. Then he threw four TD passes without a pick in a near-flawless performance in a road win over the AFC West-rival Chargers to open the season. But his performance in Pittsburgh, where the Chiefs hadn't won a game since 1986 Youth Mike Pouncey Jersey , was the kind of transcendent display that Chiefs fans have been pining for since Len Dawson was taking snaps.Mahomes was 23 of 28 for 326 yards, which means he threw more touchdown passes than incompletions. He made all the right checks, scrambled when the opportunity presented itself, and kept his poise when the Chiefs squandered a 21-point first-quarter lead by engineering a near-flawless second half."Everybody knew how strong of an arm he has," Steelers cornerback Mike Hilton said, "and he was making some decent throws, and his playmakers made plays."Yes, it helps to have a dizzying array of talent surrounding him.Kareem Hunt ran for 75 yards to provide just enough offensive balance. Travis Kelce had seven catches for 109 yards and two scores, and Sammy Watkins had six catches for 100 yards, lest anybody worry after their quiet openers against the Chargers.Tyreek Hill added five catches for 90 yards, all in the second half Youth Denzel Perryman Jersey , with another touchdown to punctuate his typically stellar outing.Still, it takes the quarterback to deliver them the ball."There'll be games where teams try and take away one or two guys and that's the good thing about this team is that no one really cares about who is getting the shine," Mahomes said, after spending a hefty amount of time praising his teammates. "Everybody just wants to win."Nobody more so than Mahomes, whose 10 touchdown passes through the first two weeks of the season broke the NFL record of nine shared by Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Charley Johnson. Those touchdown passes have gone to seven different receivers, including fullback Anthony Sherman, which matches the number of guys that caught TD passes all last season. And those six TD tosses against the Steelers matched Dawson's 54-year-old franchise record for a single game."It just speaks to the weapons that we have on offense. They can't stop everybody," Mahomes said, "so for me, it's just about getting it to the guy that has the man-to-man coverage or has the open area. Those guys were getting open. The offensive line was blocking great. It was making my job easy."Perhaps the only downside to so much success is that the expectations surrounding Mahomes http://www.authenticlosangeleschargers.com/cheap-caleb-sturgis-jersey , which were already soaring in training camp, have soared to an almost impossible level. One sports talk radio host wondered Monday whether Mahomes will break Manning's record for TD passes in a single season. He's on pace for an absurd 80 of them, and while nobody expects him to maintain such a pace, the reality is he needs to average just 3.2 per game to top the record of 55.Then there are the expectations for the Chiefs. They've already beaten two teams that were thought to be playoff contenders, on the road no less, and done so in fairly convincing fashion. It's hardly surprising that Chiefs coach Andy Reid tried to keep everything in perspective when he met with reporters on Monday. But that job is becoming more difficult each week."The key to this thing is that you're growing, that you keep growing. The more that these defensive coordinators have to study it, you keep answering that bell, so that's his challenge right now," Reid said. "Is everything going to be roses? No. But he's seeing things right now and doing a nice job."

Los Angeles Chargers defeat the Buffalo Bills 31-20

Chargers-Bills final score: The Chargers started the game on offense with Philip Rivers working with an empty backfield. He was flushed from the pocket and picked up 7 yards on the ground. They tried a jet sweep to J.J. Jones on 2nd down Authentic Casey Hayward Jersey , but it was easily stopped by the Bills. Melvin Gordon caught a pass in the flat and only had to get by one guy to get the easy 1st down, but in a surprise to nobody at all he lost his feet and fell. That brought on the punt team.Josh Allen’s first drive as a starter was ended by rookie Uchenna Nwosu picking up his first career sack. After a punt, the Chargers took over with good field position and an opportunity to take an early lead. Virgil Green took a short pass over the middle, broke a tackle, and picked up a big gain. Gordon followed that with a short gain on the new 1st down. Mike Williams then made his presence felt with a very impressive catch high and over the middle. Williams took a big shot and held onto the ball for a touchdown.LeSean McCoy caught a short pass for 6 yards, but the Chargers took that right back when Derwin James picked up yet another sack getting to Allen before he could even look up. An off target Allen pass later and the Bills were punting again.Austin Ekeler picked up consecutive chunk plays on a short pass to the flat and then a jet sweep. Melvin Gordon was then stopped for no gain or negative yardage on consecutive plays. On 3rd & long, Rivers was able to find Mike Williams for a 1st down. On the next play, Gordon had a clear path 20 yards for a touchdown in large part thanks to a pulling Mike Pouncey who just buried his guy.The Bills started their next drive by going back to McCoy through the air. He picked up 9 yards and Allen was able to scramble for the 1st on the next snap. McCoy got a carry after that and looked good picking up 5 yards up the middle. Robert Foster then took a jet sweep action for 11 yards on 2nd down (the same thing the Chiefs torched the Chargers with last week). Allen ran a bootleg and threw short but Kyzir White broke up the pass. A big run by McCoy was then called back due to holding that was largely unnecessary. On 2nd & 20 and 3rd & 20, Allen threw incomplete. An incredibly stupid penalty by Desmond King gave the Bills 15 yards and a first down. On the new set of downs, Charles Clay was “covered” by Kyle Emanue and Jahleel Addae. That, of course, resulted in a 21-yard reception. McCoy was stuffed for no gain to end the 1st quarter. On the first play of the 2nd quarter, Melvin Ingram and Damion Square met at the quarterback for an 11-yard sack. On 3rd & 21 Womens Derwin James Jersey , McCoy took a swing pass for 8 yards to make the field goal attempt a bit easier. Stephen Hauschka converted the 43-yard attempt.Running to the left side of the line, Austin Ekeler picked up a easy 20+ yards that he finished hard running through a tackle. Virgil Green then picked up a nice gain on an intermediate pass. On an endaround, Ekeler picked up another big gain. Gordon followed it with his best run of the day that went for 5 yards. After that he was left wide open for an easy pitch and catch touchdown.A short pass by Allen and two short runs by Marcus Murphy including a 3rd down run that was stopped behind the line of scrimmage by Darius Philon result in a three-and-out.After a screen failed to develop, Rivers went to Keenan Allen on 2nd down and Allen picked up a 1st down after an impressive run after catch. Tyrell Williams on a crossing route immediately got out of bounds instead of cutting upfield but he still picked up a 1st down. Tyrell then caught another long pass and fumbled, but he was lucky that the Chargers recovered. The Bills challenged the ruling but it stood. Melvin Gordon picked up some decent yardage on consecutive receptions but showcased his poor openfield running on both. Keenan Allen ran a beautiful route, beat his man, then picked up good yardage after the catch. A bad snap and a false start later the Chargers were looking at a 2nd & 10 from the 10. Rivers shoveled a pass to Gordon after quick pressure forced him to improvise and Gordon made it to the 2. On 3rd & 2, Rivers looked for and found Gordon again for their third touchdown connection of the day.A 57-yard pass to Zay Jones eclipsed the Bills’ total offensive output on the day to that point.A couple ineffective passes and a Melvin Ingram sack later the Bills brought on the kicking team again. Hauschka was good from 41 yards. The Bills’ first possession of the second half started out as the LeSean McCoy show, but ended up being successful largely because of Josh Allen’s ability to elude pressure and scramble. A dumb horse collar tackle penalty by Melvin Ingram essentially guaranteed the Bills would get their first touchdown of the game and then Chris Ivory punched it in from the 1.A quick three-and-out by the Chargers was followed by a bizarre series of events on the ensuing punt. The returner failed to signal for a fair catch and was blown up immediately. Taiwan Jones recovered the ball in the end zone. His helmet was knocked off. The referees allowed the play to continue and then flagged the Chargers when they tackled him.The defense largely stood strong allowing only one 1st down on a very nice throw by Allen to Kelvin Benjamin. Unfortunately, the offense was unable to get anything going as they went three-and-out including a big sack on 3rd down. With great field position, the Bills took a shot deep on their first play, but Casey Hayward was there to knock the ball away. On 2nd down, McCoy appeared to be injured on a 1-yard run. On a play that almost definitely should have been blown dead due to Allen being “in the grasp Joe Barksdale Jersey ,” Allen threw a pick to Adrian Phillips. The Buffalo defense stepped up big after the turnover and very nearly forced a fumble when they sacked Rivers on 2nd down. A bad punt by Drew Kaser took a lucky bounce and saved it from being as awful as it could have been. The 4th quarter began with the Chargers holding a 28-13 lead and looking like they were already ready to go home. It was all Derwin James as he almost single-handedly ruined the Bills’ drive and forced them to punt.Tyrell Williams showed up again hauling in an 18-yard reception to start the drive. Gordon then came on to lose 4 yards and appeared to be injured though he walked off the field. Allen then caught another pass this time good for 16 yards. Virgil Green appeared to fumble along the sideline but was ruled down by contact and a review confirmed that. On 3rd & 10, Austin Ekeler nearly managed to make something from nothing, but he was unable to and the Chargers elected to punt after taking a delay of game penalty. The Chargers appeared to touch the ball in the end zone which should have resulted in a touchback, but the referees missed that and the Bills started inside their own 5-yard line. Josh Allen quickly made matters worse by throwing a pass that was intercepted by Kyzir White.A Keenan Allen reception brought the Chargers to the 1-yard line. An aborted snap moved them back to the 5. Luckily, Ekeler recovered. Ultimately, the Chargers settled for a field goal attempt that put the game out of reach for the Bills.Allen and the Bills offense took over with about 4 minutes left in the game and went hurry-up hoping to give themselves a chance to score quickly. Allen scrambled early in the drive for yards, but his first pass fell incomplete. He managed to hit Logan Thomas for a 1st down on the next play. From there, the Chargers were content to let the Bills complete anything they wanted underneath and focused on tackling to prevent any yards after catch.Eventually, the failure to tackle resulted in Chris Ivory taking a short pass a long way to set up a 1st & goal from the 3. Kelvin Benjamin then caught a touchdown pass to make the game appear closer than it was.Los Angeles Chargers Undrafted Free Agents to Watch The UDFA signing period is a mad dash to sign some of the biggest names that did not get to hear their name get called during the draft. There are some really good players that somehow slip through the cracks and it’s every other team’s loss when they miss out on some of these guys. In the Chargers’ UDFA haul, they signed some big-time players on the defensive side of the ball but offensive-minded fans may have found the other side of the ball lacking in any sort of star power. However, that didn’t stop our team from digging into the film and finding a guy or two who we really like or who we believe has a good shot at making the final 53-man roster.Garrett Sisti: I think Ben Johnson the Tight End from Kansas is interesting. The two things that’ll earn Johnson some work on this team is his blocking skills & Special Teams ability. He tested well at his Pro Day and even before the Hunter Henry injury I think Johnson would’ve made some noise in camp and in play as the 3rd Tight End, now it just might be for the backup behind Virgil Green.Matthew Stanley: I think FB Anthony Manzo-Lewis is my favorite UDFA player on offense. He is a punishing blocker and a very effective pass catcher out of the backfield. With Hunter Henry out for the year, the Chargers are going to need to get creative and I think Manzo-Lewis is a versatile weapon that gives them some options.Jamie Hoyle:I have to go with Ben Johnson Womens Mike Pouncey Jersey , as well. He looks like he’s capable of making plays as a receiver at all three levels of a defense, he’s a willing and capable blocker, and he’s athletic enough to help on special teams. He has a solid opportunity to soar up the depth chart with a good showing in training camp and the preseason.Jamie Sewell: I think J.J Jones, WR from West Georgia is going to be fun to watch in Preseason. He ran a 4.35 40 yard dash, a 6.83 3 cone and a 38 inch vertical jump. Problem is, he only weighs 173 lb and he had just 24 catches for 278 yards in his final year of college ball. I think his chances of winning a spot on the roster as a WR are virtually zero, but he handled punt returns in college, and Special Teams could be his key to making the team.Michael Peterson: I really like offensive lineman Chris Durant out of William & Mary. The guy was a four-year starter at left tackle for the Tribe and immediately stood out when I threw on his film. What popped the most for me was that he is spews the fundamentals in his technique. He’s quick-footed and patient in pass protection, only striking when the moment is right. He isn’t the strongest cat on the field but he sure knows how to create leverage in the run game with proper hand-technique.I saw a lot of the “project” offensive tackles this year go in the 3rd-5th round just because of their height and weight combos. Durant is years ahead of most of the linemen drafted in terms of the little things he does right and I believe he could be a serious back-up option to left tackle Russell Okung.

the New York Giants released backup quarterback Davis Webb on Sunday. That leaves inexperienced Kyle Lauletta and Alex Tanney behind Eli Manning who, of course, never has missed a game because of injury in his Womens Drew Kaser Jerseycareer.New York also released vested veterans guard John Jerry and defensive back William Gay, and waived tight end Jerell Adams, wide receiver Hunter Sharp and defensive tackle Josh Banks. That made room for defensive end Mario Edwards, Jr., wide receiver Kaelin Clay and center Spencer Pulley. They added defensive backs Antonio Hamilton, Mike Jordan and Kamrin Moore to a secondary that has been spotty. All were picked up off waivers.Webb, a 2017 third-round draft choice who did not play in a regular-season game, was expected to be Manning's backup. Webb had an inconsistent performance in three preseason games, but was included on the roster when cuts to the NFL roster maximum of 53 were made Saturday.Jerry started every game for the Giants the previous two seasons, and his 39 consecutive starts made for the Giants' longest active streak at the end of the 2017 season.Gay, a 12-year veteran, had two five-year stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers sandwiched around a single season with the Arizona Cardinals. He has played in 176 consecutive regular-season games, plus 15 postseason contests.Edwards played the previous three seasons for the Raiders, who selected him 35th overall in the 2015 draft. He has played in 30 regular-season games with 24 starts, with 68 tackles (48 solo), 5 1-2 sacks, three forced fumbles and three passes defensed.NOTES: The Giants signed eight players to their practice squad, all of whom they released Saturday: linebackers Avery Moss and Calvin Munson; wide receivers Alonzo Russell and Jawill Davis; tight end Garrett Dickerson; defensive back Grant Haley; running back Jhurell Pressley; and tackle Victor Salako.Surge or Static: You had one job! “YOU HAD ONE JOB!”That’s the statement I found myself saying far too often Sunday evening as I watched a number of Chargers players fall short of, you know http://www.chargersfootballauthentics.com/mike-williams-jersey-authentic , the most expected of expectations. While the score ended up being 38-28, it honestly felt much closer to 68-28 than reality.I guess when touchdowns come as easy as they did for the Chiefs, you can’t help but get washed away in the tidal wave of scores put up by the dynamic quarterback-receiver duo of Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill. And while the final boxscore painted a different picture, fans likely left the stands that night with a terrible drowning feeling. In the first game of the 2018 season, with expectations as high as they’ve ever been, a pair of receivers in what was deemed “the best wideout group in the NFL” fell short of even the lowest of standards. On the flip-side, a pairing from the running back room enjoyed an outing that was about as pleasantly productive as it was efficient. As we meander over to the defensive side of the ball, fans and analysts alike got to see a highly-touted rookie vault over his expectation bar while a veteran continued to show no signs of progression in the weakest part of his collective skill-set.Although I don’t believe anyone expected this match-up to be “smooth sailing”, I don’t think many expected a number of over-sized mackerel to fly up and wallop them in the face, either. Some of you might also be wondering, “Why is Michael incorporating so many water-themed metaphors and similes?” Well, I don’t have an answer you, to be honest. It’s just “flowing” so well.....Alright, I’m done. I promise.Welcome, my friends, to the very first regular season edition of Surge or Static!SURGEDRBs Melvin Gordon/Austin EkelerFinally, finally, finally, the Chargers found a way move the ball effectively on the ground against a team they should have. In recent years, whenever the team has gone up against a dismal run defense, they’ve always found a way to make that weakness look like a strength. Like clockwork. In Sunday’s match-up against a Chiefs defense suddenly lacking in star-power http://www.chargersfootballauthentics.com/melvin-ingram-jersey-authentic , Gordon and Ekeler both found plenty of space to work with as they combined for one of the best rushing performances over the last several years. The two backs were wildly complimentary of each other as the offense never skipped a beat, regardless of who was in the backfield.Gordon got the lion’s share of the work, collecting 15 carries to Ekeler’s five. However, the latter was much more prolific, averaging 7.8 yards per carry to Gordon’s 4.3.As the game quickly got out of hand, Gordon and Ekeler were forced to abandon the ground for work through the air as the duo got absolutely pelted with targets while the Chargers played catch-up.The backfield received 18 total targets in this game which they turned into 14 catches for 189 yards and a touchdown. The score was an absolute beauty from quarterback Philip Rivers as he threw a perfect pass to Ekeler in the back corner of the endzone. In all, Gordon and Ekeler combined for 292 total yards from scrimmage and the lone touchdown.I don’t about you guys, but that’s pretty #good.Without tight end Hunter Henry in this offense, this is exactly the direction offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt needs to take this offense.S Derwin JamesThe long wait to watch James in a regular season game came and went and fans walked away with plenty of warm, fuzzy feelings. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), James was the team’s third-highest graded defender with a 70.0. If you watch him closely, you might think that’s a fairly pedestrian grade when juxtaposed with the film, but the tape doesn’t lie.James’ final line against the Chiefs included three tackles, the only sack for the Chargers on Sunday, and two pass deflections. One of those pass deflections came in the end zone on a full-extension swat by James just two plays before he corralled Mahomes for his first career sack.Sean Taylor comparisons aside, fans should be extremely excited about James going forward, especially with the Buffalo Bills up next on the slate.StaticWRs Tyrell Williams/Travis BenjaminAfter an offseason chalk-full of praise about the Chargers’ wide receivers, they ended up being one of the most disappointing groups in the league on Sunday. According to PFF, Rivers left the weekend tied with two other quarterbacks after having four of his passes dropped.Three of those four passes were dropped by Williams (1) and Benjamin (2), with both dropping a pass in the endzone. That is very no bueno.Although Tyrell caught himself a touchdown, he finished with only two catches for eight measly yards. Benjamin Womens Virgil Green Jersey , after dropped two long balls, finished with a single catch for a single yard.I don’t know how Rivers managed to stick by his “no cursing” policy after seeing his receivers metaphorically kick him in the nether-regions repeatedly. The only positive takeaway from their pitiful week one performance: we may see a lot more Mike Williams going forward after he took advantage of his limited snaps.LB Kyle EmanuelI’m not sure how to go about this section of the piece.I mean, I’ve been spouting out my thoughts on Emanuel for the last several years and, to my non-surprise, not a single thing has changed. In week 1 of 2016 when the Chargers visited Arrowhead Stadium, Emanuel showed his true colors in coverage as he was routinely exploited by Andy Reid as the malicious head coach forced him to chase running backs Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West all over the field, for his own sick amusement. At that point, two years ago, I started calling for the benching of Emanuel, at least, in that role he was being asked to play. Emanuel is a decent defender of the run, but he has proved to be as inept as anyone when asked to cover another football player. Not a receiver or running back. A football player. When Emanuel can’t cover a 5-foot-10, 245-pound fullback on a wheel route, it’s time he starts figuring out how to make the bench as comfy as possible.I mean, come on. Reid just came out and referred to Sherman as “a sausage with hands.”YOU GOT SCORED ON BY A PLAYER THAT WAS CALLED “A SAUSAGE WITH HANDS?!”Emanuel, meet bench. To no one’s surprise at all, Emanuel received PFF’s lowest grade for a linebacker in coverage. I’m just tired of repeating myself at this point.Who else do you guys think surged forward with their play on Sunday? Who do you think stayed static, or even took some steps back? Let’s talk about it.

Lane Johnson back in the lineup against the Saints and that is exactly how things have played out.Johnson is active for Sunday’s matchup with the NFC South frontrunners. He missed last week’s loss to the Cowboys with a knee injury and was listed as questionable on Sunday. So was defensive tackle Haloti Ngata Womens Josh LeRibeus Jersey , but he joins Johnson in the lineup. Running back Darren Sproles and cornerback Jalen Mills were ruled out on Friday. Quarterback Nate Sudfeld, offensive lineman Matt Pryor, offensive lineman Jordan Mailata, defensive back Deiondre' Hall and guard Chance Warmack. As expected Womens Benjamin Watson Jersey , the Saints will not have wide receiver Brandon Marshall in the lineup less than a week after he joined the team. Left tackle Terron Armstead and defensive end Marcus Davenport were ruled out with injuries while linebacker Manti Te'o, offensive lineman Will Clapp, defensive lineman Mitchell Loewen and offfensive lineman Chaz Green were also scratched. Receiver Dez Bryant didn’t spend much time with the Saints, but he was there long enough to make an impact on his new teammates. In the team’s first game after signing Bryant Youth Cameron Jordan Jersey , and then losing him to a season-ending injury, running back Mark Ingram and several other Saints adopted Bryant’s trademark celebration, throwing up the “X”. But it’s been an amazing season so far for the Saints, even though it started with a loss and a win that should have been another loss.

Lose to Buccaneers 48-40 Cheap Sheldon Rankins Jersey The Saints had not won a season opener since the first game of the 2013 season, and in 2018 it was the same old, same old story again my friend. On Sunday in the Mercedes Benz Superdome, New Orleans came out swinging, scoring on their first three possessions and totaling 24 points in the first half. You would think that scoring 24 points in one half would have the Saints comfortably in the lead? Think again: New Orleans’ defense allowed Tampa Bay to have just as much success, looking every bit the porous and inept unit that we have come to loathe during Sean Payton’s tenure. In the first half, the Bucs did not punt once and scored a franchise record 31 points (with seven of those coming on a Mike Gillislee fumble returned for a touchdown). In the second half, the Saints offense suddenly became sluggish, beset by penalties, drops and a costly fumble by Michael Thomas. The Bucs found the end zone once again in the third quarter, upping their lead to 17 points in the third quarter at 41-24. The fourth quarter brought much of the same, Tampa absolutely perforating the Saints defense and scoring at will as the lead ballooned up to 24 points. New Orleans would finally get on the board with touchdowns by Alvin Kamara and two points conversions to get within eight at 48-40. But Ryan Fitzpatrick (who I’m sure was actually Tom Brady disguised as a Buccaneer) continued lighting up the Saints secondary, throwing for over 400 yards and using his feet to convert a crucial third and eleven play late in the fourth quarter. The defense had an absolutely horrendous day, unable to put any pressure of Fitzpatrick and not much better against the run. Could it be a fluke? Next week against the Cleveland Browns should tell us very quickly where this season is likely to go: another year of shootouts where Drew Brees has to throw 50 times a game, or a season like last year, where the running game and the defense are competent enough to keep the team balanced and make them a contender. He has used his own era-adjusted metric, QBS2, to grade every qualifying starting quarterback since 1937. For more information, visit his website: www.quarterbackscore.webs.com and follow him on Twitter: @theryanmichaelOne of the biggest records in American sports is just a day away from falling, only you probably haven’t heard much about it.Brett Favre’s 6,300 career pass completions are the most in NFL history. It’s a mark set over a 20-year, 302-game Hall of Fame career. A mark so far out of reach, even the great Peyton Manning retired 176 completions short of breaking it.Since the 1941, only 7 quarterbacks have held the title of being the NFL’s all-time pass completion leader: Sammy Baugh, Bobby Layne, Y.A. Tittle, Johnny Unitas, Fran Tarkenton, Dan Marino and Favre. That company is far more dominant than mainstream media would have you believe.Enter Drew Brees, 2-3 quarters away from becoming the 8th man on that list. Not Peyton Manning. Not Tom Brady. Not Aaron Rodgers, Joe Montana or John Elway.Drew Brees: The NFL’s 6x leader in pass completions (2007, 2008, 2011, 2014 Terron Armstead Jersey , 2016 and 2017) and at age 39, 2018’s current leader in pass completions (65 through Week 2).Favre’s record was set over 302 games but Brees will break it in his 252nd. A lot of that has to do with being the NFL’s all-time completion-percentage leader (67.1%). If Brees completed passes at the rate Brady has (64.0%), his career total would drop from 6,287 to 5,999—and he’d be 302 completions away from making history, not 14.This Sunday, September 23rd in Atlanta, the fall of Favre’s record will be greeted with a clap, a FOX Television graphic, a tweet from the NFL and the Saints and then—it will fade away.Football is the top sport in America and quarterback is the top position in football. Of the three major volume records: pass completions, passing yards and touchdown passes, this is the least significant, but an important one nevertheless.Had Brady been the quarterback in arm’s reach of the record, it would have been the top storyline in American sports this week. It’s almost as if acknowledging the significance of Brees’ feat takes away from the narratives pushed to justify others as “greater” on the all-time list, even as they sit further down the record books. The story of Brees’ career, is it not? This record, like others Brees will break, is the culmination of over 17 years of hard work, nearly a decade and a half of elite on-field performance and a dedication to precision at a level few Hall of Famers could ever match.Of course, every current and future Hall of Fame quarterback has the opportunity to prove me wrong by breaking what will now be Brees’ record.

Drew Brees was going to set the career passing yards record during Monday night’s game and it was all but certain that the record would fall by the time the Saints took possession of the ball with just over two minutes to play in the second quarter.Brees was 35 yards short of the record at that point and Peyton Manning would be No. 1 for one more play. Brees hit Tre'Quan Smith down the sideline for the record and began to build his edge over Manning as Smith went 62 yards for a touchdown.“I didn’t know it was going to happen on the first play to Tre’Quan Color Rush Benjamin Watson Jersey ,” Brees said, via the Associated Press. “But I don’t think it could have happened in any better fashion than it did. To have then that moment with my teammates on the field, the offensive line http://www.authenticsneworleanssaints.com/cheap-alex-okafor-jersey , it played out even greater than I ever could have imagined.”The game was stopped so the moment could be recognized with Brees’ family and the removal of the ball so that it could go to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Brees called it part of “an unbelievable journey” that now includes four wins in the first five games of a season that is yet to feature a Brees interception. The Saints used running back Alvin Kamara a lot during Mark Ingram‘s four-game suspension to open the season and Kamara performed well as the team won three of those games.Ingram’s return for last Monday’s game against Washington was expected to cut into Kamara’s usage, but the size of the bite was bigger than many would have predicted. Ingram had 18 touches, which was twice as many as Kamara had in the 43-19 win.In a post-bye conference call on Monday morning Youth Ryan Ramczyk Jersey , head coach Sean Payton said he expected more balance in the future and that the way the Saints scored changed the plans their last time out.“It just changes how the game unfolds. Alvin’s nine touches, I think is a little bit of byproduct of a 60-yard scoring strike, another 40 Youth Marcus Williams Jersey ,” Payton said, via the New Orleans Advocate. “Those change kind of the pitch count, if you will.”Having to figure out the balance between two productive backs on an offense averaging 35 points a game falls into the category of a good problem for Payton to have as the Saints get back to work this week.

Spence says he was trying to protect himself in a fight that led to his ejection for ripping off an opponent's helmet.Spence was penalized for unnecessary roughness and ejected in the second quarter of Sunday's win over Oakland following his skirmish with guard Kelechi Osemele.Trouble began with Spence and Osemele still on the ground after a sack by Miami's Cameron Wake."I'm trying to go celebrate Authentic Jared Cook Jersey , but the guy has his hands on me, pushing me, pushing me, pushing me," Spence said Monday. "At some point as a man, I've got to protect myself and get his hands off me and do what I've got to do. It just went beyond football at that point, which it shouldn't have."The incident was doubly costly for Miami. The penalty negated the third-down sack and led to an Oakland field goal. And the Dolphins became short-handed in the front four when ends William Hayes and Andre Branch were sidelined with knee injuries."I feel really bad about it because I thought I took Cam's sack away, and then you put your defense in a bad position," Spence said.He said the episode was typical of the Raiders."We know Oakland's O-line, we know what they do, we know how they play http://www.oaklandraidersteamonline.com/gareon-conley-jersey ," he said. "They're extra after the whistle."Raiders vs. Broncos: 4 Winners, 4 Losers While it sucks that the Raiders didn’t win this game, it’s difficult for even the best teams to come away with a victory in Denver, where the Broncos enjoy an overwhelming home field advantage. The Raiders put up a valiant effort today, and there are a lot of positives to take from this rather than the myriad questions and fears we had after the Rams game. So, who crushed it today, and who should be flushed?WINNERS1) Derek CarrIf there’s one question Raider fans had after the Rams game, it was “What’s wrong with Derek Carr?” and today Carr answered that question with an emphatic “Nothing”. Carr finished with a fantastic line of 29/32 for 288 yards and a touchdown. He had a rating of 114.6 and, if I’m being honest, this was the best performance I’ve seen from him since the Tampa Bay penalty-fest game where he threw for over 400 yards. Carr stood in the pocket, with pressure closing around him http://www.oaklandraidersteamonline.com/reggie-nelson-jersey , and displayed no fear. He threw confident passes and targeted his receivers early and often. Carr completed passes to nine different receivers and took what the defense gave him. Another touchdown pass would have been nice, but he had the look of a man who was growing more comfortable with the offensive scheme and with his line. It may not be this year, but Carr and Gruden will be lighting up the league sooner than later.2) Domata PekoThe Denver defensive line had a player who was disruptive, consistently blowing up plays and causing havoc on the Raiders offense. It wasn’t Von Miller or Bradley Chubb or Derek Wolfe. It was Peko, whose long mane flowing out from under his helmet betrayed his presence in the Raiders’ backfield. Peko brought a ton of energy in this game and was often too much for the Raiders to handle. He is exactly the sort of player Oakland’s young defensive tackles should be emulating.3) Phillip LindsayComing into this game, the Broncos running back I was most concerned about was Royce Freeman. But the Raiders bottled him up for the most part, holding him to 28 yards on eight carries. It was Lindsay who gave the Raiders fits, consistently getting into the second level for big gains. Lindsay had a terrific career at Colorado and hasn’t missed a beat in the NFL. Lindsay might not be the featured back in Denver, but he will be a huge factor in their success going forward.4) Amari CooperThe Raiders didn’t go to Cooper much in the Rams game, but made it a point to target Cooper as often as possible in this game. Cooper caught 10 balls for 116 yards and carved up the Broncos’ coverage. He displayed reliable hands, good speed and toughness when running with the football http://www.oaklandraidersteamonline.com/seth-roberts-jersey , and showed why he is still Oakland’s number one receiver. He didn’t go deep much, but Denver was doing their best to take away the deep ball all day and Cooper did get open constantly underneath and on outside routes. LOSERS1) Case KeenumDespite getting the win, Keenum had an awful day against the Raiders. He went 19/35 for 222 yards and a pick, with his only touchdown coming on the ground. Keenum threw into the Raiders’ coverage all day long, and the Raiders had an whopping eight passes defensed including four by Gareon Conley. The Broncos have a lot going for them, especally at home, but Keenum may be a liability in the long run.2) Bruce IrvinNot only did Irvin have a mediocre day statistically, unable to put any real pressure on Case Keenum even with sub-par offensive tackles guarding him, Irvin also had an absurd unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that kept a Broncos drive alive and almost certainly was the difference in the game. Irvin claims to be a team leader, and needs to act more responsibly.3) NFL kickersMike Nugent has been fine for the Raiders, but missed a crucial extra point that ended up being the difference in the game. But his was just the latest in the smorgasbord of NFL kicking woes on Sunday. The Browns’ Seth Gonzalez missed two field goals and two extra points in a dome Womens Donald Penn Jersey , and single-handedly cost the Browns a win against the Saints. The Vikings’ Daniel Carlson missed all three field goals he attempted in Green Bay, and that game ended in a tie. Where have all the kickers gone?4) Tom BradyToday, the Patriots went into Jacksonville and got absolutely bodied, losing 31-20. Tom Brady had a poor game by his standards, throwing for only 234 yards and two touchdowns, but more importantly he was totally outplayed by Blake Bortles. The Jaguars did not play conservatively or scared to lose as they did in last year’s playoffs. The Patriots did play like that, and couldn’t handle the Jaguars defensive line. At this point, the Jaguars and Chefs might be the two best teams in the AFC. The Patriots aren’t.

terrible Authentic Derek Carrier Jersey , horrible, no good, very bad day Around 7pm last night, the smoke started to build. First with a report that the trade discussions were becoming “very real” regarding Khalil Mack and more teams had jumped into the mix, all seemingly thinking they had a shot at landing the best defender in the NFL. We covered the talk, which carried on for about three hours, and it was the last post of the night a little after ten. But even at that time, it didn’t seem real. It seemed like more talk, even if that talk was clearly heating up.I posted the article and got back to work on this week’s Ballers & Busters (sorry it’s so late this week). It was approaching midnight and the long day started to catch up to me, so I got to half time and then called it a night. I went to bed thinking the biggest news for the next day was if the team would cut or trade Mario Edwards Jr. Which is probably for the best, because I may not have been able to sleep if I’d known what was really in store.I awoke at 7am to my phone ringing. It was Tyler Green, sounding like his dog died. He said simply “They traded Khalil Mack.” And I was off.By the time I joined the conversation, the internet was already ablaze. The news hit an hour before, which is an eternity in social media time. Mack was headed to Chicago. The 2016 Defensive Player of the Year and best player the Raiders had drafted in two decades was gone. Gruden got up at his usual early hour and stuck a dagger into the sleeping hearts of the Raider Nation. The compensation was initially said to be two first round picks and possibly a player as well. Come to find out not only was there no player involved who could potentially offset the significant immediate loss of talent for the Raiders, but they also sent a 2nd round pick along with Mack.Meanwhile the Raiders just went from ‘Win now’ mode to rebuilding. Just. Like. That. Fans of the Buccaneers during his tenure there remember his track record with building through the draft.Mack got a record deal from the Bears of some $23.5 million per season on a 6-year extension, which the Raiders were unwilling to give him. Had the Raiders agreed to negotiate with Mack’s people at some point between February and yesterday, they might have gotten him for $22 million per season, which seems like a bargain after Aaron Donald signed for $22.5 million per.Any way you slice it, this is a huge win for the Bears and a huge loss for the Raiders. Hey, the Raiders division rivals are pretty happy about it too. Now the Raiders are bringing up the rear in a division notoriously loaded with top pass rushers. The man who was the only good thing about the Raiders defense since they drafted him four years ago leaves a shaky defense behind. One that two seasons ago was last in the NFL in sacks despite Mack having 11.0 sacks all by himself. One that now has only Bruce Irvin as a somewhat proven pass rusher Jordy Nelson Jersey , but who has never had more than 8.0 sacks in a season. One that added interior pass rush in the draft meant to complement Mack, not attempt to survive without him. That was just the rude awakening to the day. It would get worse.Soon we would learn that the Raiders were going to release Martavis Bryant, the player they acquired in trade with the Steelers during the draft in exchange for a third round pick. Bryant is facing an indefinite league suspension for violation of the league’s substance abuse policy. Something Jon Gruden probably should have considered before he gifted a third round pick to Pittsburgh last April. Yes, that was a 2018 pick, not even a 2019 pick, so it’s already been spent. That pick the Raiders used to get have Bryant around for four months was what they received from the Cardinals when they traded down in the first round from 10 to 14. With the Cardinals moving up to get their franchise quarterback Josh Rosen, they should have been made to fork over more than just a third round pick. But Gruden didn’t force the issue and therefore that trade down ultimately netted the Raiders absolutely nothing. Not to mention, what was once considered a suddenly very strong receiving corps is now not even close. Also during that draft the Raiders traded former second round pick Jihad Ward to the Cowboys for WR/KR Ryan Switzer. Gruden apparently eventually realized what the Cowboys already had about Switzer and he made another deal with the Steelers to move up from the sixth to the fifth round in next year’s draft. So, now what most expected to be the Raiders’ third and fourth receivers are both gone. Even Griff Whalen, with whom Switzer was supposedly in a ‘neck and neck’ battle for the slot receiver job was placed on injured reserve with a turf toe injury. What the Raiders receiving corps is down to now is basically the same crew as last year, with the exception of the potential lateral move to cut 30-year-old Michael Crabtree for 33-year-old Jordy Nelson. Amari Cooper is still the number one, Seth Roberts the number three, and even Johnny Holton was able to make the roster again. Keon Hatcher moves from practice squad to active roster (for now). Oh, and Dwayne Harris works in there somewhere. Not enough? Ok.Then, instead of waiting to see what was out there on the waiver wire, Gruden send a fifth round pick to Buffalo for career backup AJ McCarron, who was originally a 5th round pick in the same 2014 draft in which the Raiders drafted Khalil Mack and Derek Carr with their top two picks.A fifth round pick is too much for McCarron. But after sending a third for Martavis Bryant and a second round pick along with Khalil Mack to get less than he was worth, there’s no surprise left in me.McCarron has been kind of a white whale. He has never proven to be worth anything more than a backup role. He is probably better than Connor Cook and EJ Manuel, but that isn’t saying much. He also comes in with a week until the season, so he isn’t going to be ready to step in for Derek Carr for a while and the team cut both Cook and Manuel. We also got the official word that Daryl Worley will be suspended the first four games of this season. He was the team’s third cornerback who filled in to Gareon Conley as the starter while Conley was dealing with his hip injury for most of training camp. All of their moves today Authentic Rashaan Melvin Jersey , along with removing the best defender in the league and cornerstone of the defense, and the only actual player they have to show for it is an expendable backup quarterback. The three seemingly deepest positions this offseason were wide receiver, cornerback, and defensive line. Now those positions join offensive tackle and linebacker as major concerns. Really outside of the interior offensive line, I’m not sure there’s a position on this team that inspires great confidence. But hey, they got a seventh rounder from the Seahawks for Shalom Luani. So, there’s that. Oh, and the Raiders weren’t able to find a trade partner for Mario Edwards Jr. The former second round pick was waived in the roster cuts.September 1 will live on in infamy. It’s the day Gruden picked to crush all the high hopes Raiders fans had for the season and perhaps well beyond, just a week before the first of his ten seasons with the Raiders officially began.Follow @LeviDamienJust one Raiders player makes ESPN NFL Top 100 for 2018 and he’s top ten You win some, you lose some. When it comes to Top 100 list, the Raiders won the battle and lost the war. The battle was for Khalil Mack to be recognized as a top ten player in this league. The war was overall number of players in the Top 100.Mack is ranked at number 10 in ESPN’s Top 100 list. He’s still behind Aaron Donald and Von Miller, but at least he’s not in the late teens. But he is the only Raiders player listed. This is very different to the NFL Network Top 100 which had Mack listed at 16 overall — way too low for Mack who is a season removed from Defensive Player of the Year honors and who has put up 40 sacks in four seasons.Where the NFL Network Top 100 looked more presentable was in having Derek Carr (60) and Bruce Irvin (85) also in their rankings. In the ESPN rankings, there are 14 quarterbacks who made the Top 100. That means they don’t see Carr as among the top half of NFL quarterbacks. But they do see Alex Smith (97), Kirk Cousins (80), Cam Newton (63), Jimmy Garoppolo (62), Philip Rivers (45), and Matthew Stafford (35) up there among others. But Derek Carr is a $25 million man. He was replaced by Mike Nugent. Nugent’s holder Andrew DePaola was injured on the first punt of the season, tearing his ACL. He was replaced by undrafted rookie Trent Sieg. Then in the third game in Miami, Nugent suffered a hip injury and he has been placed on injured reserve as well. Nugent will be eligible to return after eight weeks, but the Raiders could opt to keep him shut down for the remainder of the season. Nugent will be replaced by undrafted rookie Matt McCrane. After Hudson’s 78.9, Gabe Jackson is second with a 68.4.Emmanuel Lamur- 76.5If you want a further explanation of this grade you might want to contact Pro football focus yourself. If you looked in the boxscore, you might notice that Lamur did not register a tackle, although he played on 26 defensive snaps.Keep in mind PFF analyzes everything from run defense and pass coverage to pass rush.He must have done something right in the eyes of PFF.Seth Roberts- 76.3No, you aren’t living in a bizarro world Womens Derek Carr Jersey , Seth Roberts received a top five grade this week. The sad part is, Roberts was targeted a team high seven times, catching four balls for 41 yards. How on earth is Seth Roberts ever leading the team in targets is beyond me.Maurice Hurst- 75.8Hurst and fellow rookies PJ Hall and Arden Key are continuing to progress nicely.Hurst seems to be the furthest along at this point, he has made plays in back to back games.Hurst is the highest rated Raider on the year with an 81.0.

The Los Angeles Chargers received the ball first at home

in this one so the Oakland Raiders began the game on defense. They gave up two big plays on the drive Cheap Leon Hall Jersey , a 17 yard pass to Keenan Allen and a 16 yard run by Melvin Gordon. After that the defense settled down though and eventually ended the Chargers drive with a Bruce Irvin sack on 3rd down. The sack forced a 49 yard field goal attempt for LA that they successfully made for a 3-0 lead. The Chargers one upped Bruce Irvin’s sack with a 3rd down sack of their own but their’s forced a Raiders punt on Oakland’s first offensive drive of the game. Their offense again got a big completion to Keenan Allen on their drive but the Raiders defense came up with a big stop from Darryl Worley just outside of field goal range to force the Chargers punt. After that it was the Raiders turn to get on the board. They started off their drive with first down completions to Amari Cooper, Jordy Nelson and Martavis Bryant followed by tough running from Marshawn Lynch down to inside the Chargers 5 yard line. They couldn’t get any closer from there though so they settled for a 23 yard kick from Matt McCain which tied the game at 3.There wasn’t a single first down between the two teams over the next 4 drives in a row. Unfortunately it was the Chargers who finally broke the streak. Then after finally getting a 1st down, they went 44 yards on a catch and run TD to back up RB Austin Ekeler on the very next play. The big strike almost never happened with Philip Rivers almost fumbling the shot gun snap, but instead the play resulted in the Chargers retaking the lead 10-3.The very first play of the Raiders drive was a big catch and run by Martavis Bryant, except he didn’t secure the ball tightly and it was easily stripped away while he was running for a turnover. The Raiders then gave up 11 yard reception to Keenan Allen and another big catch and run to a Chargers running back, this time a 34 yard play to Melvin Gordon who would have scored had he not tripped over himself at the Oakland 10. Gordon made up for falling on his own with a 9 yard run to the 1, followed by punching it in from there on 3rd down to make the score 17-3.Oakland had 1:39 before the end of the half starting at their own 25 after a touchback on the ensuing kickoff. They managed to get close enough to try a 57 yard field goal attempt thanks to a couple of Seth Roberts completions and one to Jared Cook. Unfortunately the kick was no good after falling just short. The Chargers had 6 seconds before halftime after that with getting the ball at their own 47. They completed one play for 10 yards before attempting a Hail Mary that was knocked down incomplete, however Bruce Irvin idiotically committed a roughing the passer penalty to give the Chargers a field goal attempt. Luckily the kick sailed left, but that doesn’t make the Irvin penalty any less stupid. He literally took two steps after the ball was gone before shoving Rivers to the ground.Oakland got the ball first in the 2nd half but did nothing with it. Less than nothing in fact http://www.raiderscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-jared-cook-jersey , they lost 7 yards before punting on 4th and 17. The Chargers started their first possession of the 2nd half at their own 26 after the punt. They quickly got into Raiders territory with passes to Keenan Allen and WR Mike Williams, along with a big 3rd and 11 conversion from TE Antonio Gates down to the OAK 21. The defense did come up with the stop after that to hold LA to a 30 yard field goal which made the score 20-3.Derek Carr and the Raiders offense desperately needed to get things going on their next drive, and it looked like they did thanks to a huge 3rd down conversion of yards to Jalen Richard down to the LA 25. They then got a defensive Pass Interference penalty in the end zone shortly on their next 3rd down play. Inexplicably they passed on 1st and goal from the one though and Carr threw it directly to the Chargers LB Melvin Ingram for a gut wrenching interception in the end zone. It was yet another bizarre, trying to do way too much interception from Derek Carr. The Chargers started at their own 3 after the interception but got out of the bad field position in just one play by going deep on 1st down for a 54 yard completion to Tyrell Williams. They then got another big completion a couple of plays later on a 2nd and 18 play to Mike Williams for 26 yards and a 12 yard completion to Keenan Allen on a 3rd and 11. Adding insult to injury, they got the touchdown on the next play to TE Virgil Green despite Arden Key playing the screen well and just missing tipping the ball away. Los Angeles missed the extra point though so the score was 26-3 after the TD pass.Oakland showed they weren’t giving up down 23 with just over 9 minutes left in the 4th by completing a 47 yard pass to Martavis Bryant and converting on a 4th and 4 with a pass to Seth Roberts. They then got their touchdown a few plays later on a one yard pass to Jordy Nelson, a play that never should have counted because about half of the Raiders team wasn’t set before the snap. No flag was thrown so the touchdown made the score 26-10, but the drive took 4:31 to score on because the Raiders showed absolutely no urgency on the drive despite having been down 3 scores.Los Angeles then recovered the onside kick attempt with 5:10 left in the 4th quarter. They converted a huge 3rd and 6 to keep the clock rolling with the 16 point lead. They then had another 3rd and 6 later in the drive and converted that one too. That one allowed the Chargers to kneel out the rest of the clock, Raiders lose 26-10.Raiders add free agent DT Johnathan Hankins Just one week in and the Raiders defensive line is hurting. Defensive tackles Justin Ellis and PJ Hall both got banged up in the opener which has prompted the Raiders to bring in veteran defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins to shore up the position. In his Wednesday press conference Jon Gruden said there was a “distinct possibility” the team adds a defensive tackle to the mix, perhaps even more than one. When asked about Johnathan Hankins in particular Gabe Jackson Jersey , he got a sly smile on his face and all but confirmed the 6-3, 320-pounder was joining the team. Then upon entering the locker room, the evidence presented itself.Hankins is a 26-year-old former 2nd round pick. He spent his first four season with the New York Giants, starting 41 games. Last season he started 15 games in Indianapolis. The Colts had signed him to a 3-year, $30 million deal, but cut him last March after just one season. As for another possible addition, Gruden mentioned former Broncos tackle Clinton McDonald. With the Raidrers playing the Broncos this week, that could be a smart move. Hankins’s addition would mean either Ellis or Hall will head to IR or they will cut another player. Low man on the totem poll at the position is Brian Price who the team added last week and who was inactive Monday night.Follow @LeviDamien

New Jersey gambling regulators are investigating whether

FanDuel's sports book should pay out more than $82 Womens Johnny Townsend Jersey ,000 to a man who was given exorbitant odds for the Denver Broncos to win Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.Anthony Prince of Newark made his bet and was handed a ticket at incredible 750-1 odds with about a minute left in the game, as the Broncos trailed by 2 points on their final drive. Denver kicked a field goal with 6 seconds left to win 20-19, capping a second half comeback that started with the Broncos down 12-0.FanDuel says its system should have calculated his odds at 1-6, meaning a bettor would have to wager $600 in order to win $100.Prince bet $110 on the Broncos but was stopped when he went to collect from FanDuel's betting window at the Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, New Jersey."They said, 'Oh, we can't honor this ticket,'" Prince told News12 New Jersey, which first reported the story. "I said, 'Why? This is fair and square.' They said the system had a glitch in it and they're not obligated to pay for glitches."FanDuel said in a statement that its system malfunctioned and it is not obligated to pay out on an obvious error."A small number of bets were made at the erroneous price over an 18 second period. We honored all such bets on the Broncos to win the game at the accurate market price in accordance with our house rules and industry practice, which specifically address such obvious pricing errors," FanDuel said in its statement. "We have reached out to all impacted customers and apologized for the error."How the matter is handled could have far-reaching effects on the budding sports betting industry in New Jersey at a time when new sports books are opening in some other states and lawmakers throughout the country consider whether to also jump in for the potential tax revenue. New Jersey challenged a federal ban and won a U.S. Supreme Court decision in May that cleared the way for gambling on games to expand beyond Nevada. The idea that player money and winnings would be protected and regulated by the state has been a major selling point among sports betting supporters who contrasted legal gambling with shady offshore betting sites where players often have little recourse in disputes. But gambling regulators also have policies in place to void obvious errors in sports bets.David Rebuck, director of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, said the agency is investigating whether there are grounds to compel FanDuel to pay Prince the stated payout of $82,000. He added the agency is looking "just as importantly @ how it occurred given internal controls exist to prevent such an error. Those findings might also result in the need for further action."FanDuel's operation just a few miles from New York made $3 million in its first full month in August and quickly became the most popular sports book in New Jersey.FanDuel declined to say how many bets were made at the incorrect odds.Prince said FanDuel offered him $500 and some tickets to future New York Giants games, adding he should take the offer because they're not obligated to give him anything."I said, 'Wow, for real?'" Prince said. "You'd rather go to the corner bookies now; you're not getting paid here."Follow Wayne Parry at ://WayneParryAC All we hear in the media these days is how once-again Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden is getting rid of all of general manager Reggie McKenzie’s players and will get rid of him at the end of the season. He’s definitely looking to get rid of McKenzie’s players but not necessarily McKenzie.“Well we are going to work together. Reggie and I come from the same tree in Green Bay, raised by Ron Wolf as young Green Bay Packers. I think we have a similar viewpoint in terms of what kind of players we are looking for Youth Rodney Hudson Jersey ,” Gruden said at his introductory press conference. "It has got to be a collaborative effort, whether it be a salary cap decision, a free-agent acquisition, or who we draft. We’ve got to work together. I think that is the great thing about being here.”Gruden does have his own scout working separately from McKenzie’s but there’s nothing wrong with hearing both sides of an evaluation. Then there’s the fact that Gruden’s scout already has the players dialed in that fit his system. Gruden spoke about the disadvantages McKenzie has been under with different coaches and systems. He could be giving McKenzie a chance to adapt to his system.“I think Reggie has been at a big disadvantage because the scheme constantly has changed,” Gruden told KNBR back in February. “It’s hard to pick players when your coaches don’t know what they are gonna run.”For instance, Gruden knows 2016 1st-round pick Karl Joseph is a free safety playing strong safety since the Raiders drafted him. He’s actually good playing single-high or deep-half. He just isn’t good at covering 6’7” tight ends because he’s only 5’10” himself. But in defensive coordinator Paul Guenther’s system, safeties are interchangeable so the both safeties have to be able to cover the TE. That doesn’t mean Joseph isn’t good, it means he doesn’t fit. Hence, he hasn’t playing much while the Raiders are reportedly looking to trade him.As far as playing cornerback for Guenther goes, he’s a press coverage kind of guy but it has to be a certain way. Rashaan Melvin, who was outstanding in press coverage last year with a shut-down of Antonio Brown, isn’t playing as much because of Guenther’s system. Guenther uses a motor press technique Melvin isn’t comfortable with because that’s what Guenther knows how to teach. “It was tough,” Melvin said after getting benched. “I’m a competitor. I feel like I’m a starting cornerback in this league. I’ve been playing for a long time. I’ve been making plays for a long time. Today, I didn’t start. It was a coach’s decision to go in a different direction.”Gareon Conley, the team’s 2017 1st-round pick, has been benched behind the technique Guenther wants to use as well. But Gruden and company actually like Conley so unless they can get something good for him, they’ll likely to try to develop him in Guenther’s system. “Conley is still a young guy,” Gruden said when talking about the 2nd-year man. “We’re going to reiterate that over and over. His career is just getting started. He had a couple plays last week that he’s got to get better and improve at. He will.”Another area Gruden and company are especially forcing the issue on is zone-blocking. Guards and Kelechi Osemele went downhill last year in run-blocking because of the zone-blocking scheme. So the first thing Gruden announces is he hired offensive line coach Tom Cable, Mr. Zone-blocking himself. And of course Youth Jared Cook Jersey , he didn’t adapt to the two guards. He had the two guards lose all kinds of weight to fit the zone-blocking scheme. Jackson and Osemele still protect the passer well but their run-blocking is no better than last year. They make $10 million each so if they continue not to work in zone-blocking, we’ll see how long they last. If Derek Carr ends up out of Raider Nation, it’s because Gruden wants a quarterback that can escape the pocket when it breaks down. The West Coast Offense guys like Andy Reid want the next Joe Montana, Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers. Reid who was with Gruden while he was with the Green Bay Packers, looks like he has his Favre in Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs. Sean McVay, a Gruden disciple, looks like he has his Montana in Jared Goff of the Los Angeles Rams. At one time, many called Raiders QB Derek Carr 'Baby A-Rod' but he’s not looking too much like Rodgers these days. Gruden just might move on from Carr if he doesn’t start to look like the QB he came back to coaching for. Khalil Mack, the Raiders’ 2014 1st-round pick, wanted his money so he was used to get 1st-round picks to start over with system fits. Even though he’s a generational talent, he might not be a fit with the Raiders now because defensive line coach Mike Trgovac likes and knows how to work with defensive ends that are 6’5” and above with those extra long arms like Carlos Dunlap. Hence, the Raiders got Arden Key in the third round this spring. Don’t be surprised if you see the Raiders go after Jadeveon Clowney hard next offseason.Amari Cooper is a system fit as he was in the West Coast Offense when he played at Alabama. If you look at him on tape this year, there’s nothing wrong but Carr not throwing to him. Don’t believe all that stuff about him not being able to get open. He has the same agent Khalil Mack has so he will probably hold out to get his money too. Gruden is currently looking for 1st-round pick for him and if he gets it, that’s another piece he can start over with. McKenzie is a respected talent evaluator that turned down an interview to be the GM of the Green Bay Packers this past offseason. I don’t think he would have done that knowing Gruden isn’t going to want him around. For goodness sakes, he was the 2016 NFL Executive of the Year. And there is plenty of talent he drafted unto the Raiders that Gruden isn’t using. Many of the players just don’t fit Gruden’s system so Gruden will likely move them. McKenzie is actually the one responsible for trading up to get Arden Key and Maurice Hurst. “I’ll let Reggie do that, Gruden said after the draft. “He was trading every single round to get these guys.” Key and Hurst are in the mold of Dunlap and Geno Atkins respectfully. That shows that McKenzie can quickly adapt to what Gruden wants for his offensive and defensive systems. This isn’t to say that Gruden and McKenzie are going to be together the next 10 years. But Gruden’s makeover of the Raiders doesn’t mean McKenzie will automatically be fired either. After all, Jack Del Rio is getting millions from owner Mark Davis for nothing so he might as well let McKenzie help somehow. It won’t hurt because Gruden has the final say anyway.

Rams vs Raiders fantasy football advice

Amari Cooper to heat up early Everyone calm down and focus on your breathing! The excitement of the NFL season starting along with the pressure of not knowing who to start in fantasy football is a deadly combination. But for now Youth Derek Carrier Jersey , we will help give some fantasy insight on the Oakland Raiders game on Monday night to help calm those nerves.Instead of doing start/sit like last year, we are changing it up a little with three different categories: Must start, proceed with caution and bench.Must StartWR Amari CooperIf I am the Raiders’ coaching staff, I would do all I can to make sure Amari Cooper gets the ball early and often. Not only is he the most explosive weapon on the Oakland offense, so getting him the ball wherever on the field will reward the unit, Cooper needs to get the season off to a good start to gain confidence. Any sort of repeat from last season is unacceptable and will greatly hinder the team’s chances of making a playoff push. So I would be shocked if Cooper doesn’t get a few easy catches early in the game to get his motor running. Cooper also might welcome the sight of Marcus Peters since the only good game of Cooper’s 2017 campaign was against the Kansas City Chiefs and Peters when Cooper hauled in over 200 yards in the exciting Thursday Night Football win. QB Jared GoffThe Raiders pass rush has looked real good in the preseason, but that is the preseason. The team is relying on two rookies, Arden Key and Maurice Hurst, to improve the rush. And Bruce Irvin has to become Batman not Robin. Even when they had Khalil Mack last season they struggled to get to the quarterback. Without Mack it is tough to say the unit can be improved. As such, there is a possibility that Jared Goff might have all day to throw at certain times considering that happened a fair amount last season. The one worry against Goff is if Todd Gurley gets going too well and a lead grows resulting in Sean McVay limiting Goff’s attempts. RB Todd GurleyThe Raiders run defense in 2017 was hot and cold. At the beginning of the year http://www.raidersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-mike-nugent-jersey , the team was handing out fantasy points to running backs like it was its charity service. But the team did see an improvement after the bye week. So the question becomes, what will this run defense look like? Jon Gruden brought in two maulers in Maurice Hurst and PJ Hall to help plug the middle with Justin Ellis. So in theory the run defense should be a lot better along with more disciplined coaching. But there is no Mack to shut down one entire side of the running game. In terms of Gurley, he gets the job done against anyone. So depending on how the defense plays, it will either be a good game or a great game for Gurley. He had 19 touchdowns in 2017, there is no shutting him down. Proceed with CautionQB Derek CarrI am really high on Derek Carr this season and it seems to me that the team is going to have to put up a lot of points to compete this season. And while I am close to moving Carr into the must start category, it is tough to do so when looking at the Rams’ defense that includes an inside presence of Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh along with Peters on the outside. Oakland’s offense line includes a rookie left tackle and an aging right tackle coming back from offseason foot surgery yet the unit will have to find a way to block Suh and Donald. If the run game doesn’t get clicking early, Carr might be rushed on a few throws or be thrown onto the dirt infield a little bit too much. WR Brandin Cooks History screams start Brandin Cooks. I still have nightmares thinking about him and what he has done to the Silver and Black recently. But part of me thinks his success has been due to poor discipline in the secondary from lack luster coaching. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see Cooks get loose and sprint down the sideline toward the end zone. But I wouldn’t be shocked either to see an excellent game plan that bottles Cooks up and makes sure he doesn’t get behind any safeties with possibly slower wheels (Reggie Nelson). BenchRB Marshawn LynchFor as highly as Oakland’s offensive line is touted, the unit has struggled to dominate running the football against elite defensive fronts. And there isn’t a more elite unit than one that has Donald and Suh. That duo could possibly stuff all the running gaps themselves without any other help from their teammates. Lynch might need a timely touchdown to post a solid fantasy week and that’s not a great bet to take. It is also a crowded running back room with the addition of Doug Martin and the speedy Jalen Richard.Raiders vs. Packers: 4 Winners, 4 Losers Greetings, Raider Nation! The game against the Packers is finally over Frostee Rucker Jersey , and it’s well past all of your bedtimes. The game started late and was made longer by the clock stopping on every play for a penalty flag. But now that the slog of a game is mercifully over, who was a hero and who was a zero?WINNERS1) Raiders defensive lineThe Raiders had five sacks tonight, and four of them were from defensive linemen. Fadol Brown led the way with 1.5 of them, and he was too much to handle all night long for the Packers’ offensive linemen. Maurice Hurst shared a half sack with Brown, and the other two were from Shilique Calhoun and Trayvon Hester. The Raider defensive line kept up the pressure for the entire game, allowing only 73 rushing yards and making the Packers QBs run for their life on a regular basis.Furthermore, when Arden Key was in the game he spooked the Green Bay tackles so much that he caused two false start penalties and got held another time. They wanted no part of Key.2) Chris Warren IIIWarren again led the Raiders with 15 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown. The Packers stacked the box to slow him down and still weren’t really able to. He ran with his usual combination of power and speed, bulldozing a Packer defender in the end zone Bosworth style. Warren has nothing left to prove.3) Amari CooperOn the one target Cooper had in this game, he adjusted to an underthrown deep ball from Derek Carr and avoided the tackle, rolling over the defender’s body to scamper for more yardage. Cooper looks in fine form Authentic Leon Hall Jersey , but it’s Carr who must improve his deep ball to make this connection even more special.4) Paul GuentherThe last time I think I’ve seen a Raider defense look this good was when Charles Woodson was playing on it- the first time. Did you see any Raider defender make a serious mistake tonight? Miss an assignment or make a boneheaded play? I didn’t. All the mistakes came from the referees.Paul Guenther has this team applying pressure and lockdown coverage with linebackers who fly to the ball and players who are where they are supposed to be when they are damn well supposed to be there. This is what good coaching looks like. Guenther is an absolute godsend.LOSERS1) Connor CookI would rather have a root canal than watch Cook play in a game ever again. I watched Colt McCoy earlier today look like a second-year political science student at Amherst trying to play quarterback against the Broncos and he outplayed Cook tonight. Connor Cook might have just played his way out of a job altogether. EJ Manuel wasn’t great, but he was a damn sight better than Cook.2) Pharaoh BrownMore holding penalties than catches for Brown in this preseason isn’t going to endear him to this perfectionist coaching staff. Brown’s penalties are drive-killers, and the right end spot is loaded as it is. Brown is an easy cut at this point.3) Doug MartinMartin ran behind the first-team offensive line and did basically nothing. Chris Warren ran behind the backups and looked like Bo Jackson at Auburn. I know the coaches love Martin and he’s basically a lock for the roster, but can they ignore the fact that Chris Warren is not only better, but like eight years younger?4) The Refs, againYou know the helmet rule is trash. I know the helmet rule is trash. Everyone knows the helmet rule is trash. That’s not in question here. What is a problem is phantom holding calls all the time and absurd roughness penalties. What would Bob Sanders do in today’s NFL? Dick “Night Train” Lane would be send to the nearest Soviet gulag if he played in this environment. The Packers and Raiders combined for 23 penalties and 210 penalty yards. The Packers had the worst of it, amassing 13 penalties for 110 yards, and that’s just the ones that were accepted. This situation is totally out of hand.Do you know what happens when you try to tackle heads up and someone is coming right at you? Your ass gets bent backwards. Ask Denzel Ward how he feels today. This nonsense has got to stop or we won’t be watching football in short order.
