The Giants have 12 picks in this year’s draft Color Rush Christopher Slayton Jersey , including two in the first round and six of the first 132 selections. There’s been a lot of talk about whether they’ll use some of that capital to get a young quarterback and Eli Manning said on Monday that he expects the team to go that route. Head coach Pat Shurmur wouldn’t reveal that information during his own press conference, but he did say that the team is heading into next week with an eye on restocking the front line of their defense.Shurmur was asked if the team hopes to land two or three defensive starters.“That is the idea,” Shurmur said. “We have some high picks, so you look to get some guys that can help. A lot of times, guys that are significant role players function in roles as starters. We are looking at everyone we pick to be able to contribute. That is the exciting thing about the draft. There are plenty of really good players at all positions. We are going to pick guys that we feel can contribute.”In addition to their work researching quarterbacks, the Giants have spent time with several of the top defensive prospects in this year’s class and Shurmur’s answer suggests a fair number of those early picks may be ticketed for coordinator James Bettcher’s unit.
The New England Patriots and Kansas City

Chiefs played an epic AFC Championship Game on Sunday Dwayne Allen Jersey , one that was not decided until overtime. New England ultimately prevailed 37-31 to punch its third straight ticket to the Super Bowl. Let’s dig a little deeper into the snap count numbers from the Patriots’ thrilling win— their 13th victory of the season — to get an impression of how they used their personnel.OffenseTotal snaps: 97New England’s offense was on the field for a total of 97 snaps — the highest in any game since 2001 — and the fact that it was still able to function well late in the fourth quarter and overtime is a testament to the team’s training staff. Strength and conditioning coach Moses Cabrera and his assistant Deron Mayo deserve plenty of praise for once again building a physically tough unit that is not running out of gas that easily. When looking at the concrete numbers, we can see that seven players were on the field for all 97 snaps: the starting offensive line, quarterback Tom Brady, and tight end Rob Gronkowski did not leave the field. All of them delivered very good performances against Kansas City, as did some of the team’s other core players on offense — from wide receivers Julian Edelman and Chris Hogan to the team’s rushing attack.Speaking of which, the Patriots’ offensive backfield saw plenty of action against a Chiefs’ front that has proven vulnerable against the run this year. Led by James Develin’s season-high 41 snaps, the group delivered an impressive performance and finished with 177 yards on 47 non-kneel down carries (3.8 yards per run) as well as four scores — two each by Sony Michel and Rex Burkhead.DefenseTotal snaps: 52Five of the Patriots’ defenders did not leave the field on Sunday — and only two of them came from the defensive backfield: front seven defenders Trey Flowers Womens Vincent Valentine Jersey , Dont’a Hightower and Kyle Van Noy joined cornerback Stephon Gilmore and safety Patrick Chung as the team’s iron men on Sunday. All five played integral roles in helping limit the impact of Kansas City’s explosive offense, especially in the first half.In order to slow down the NFL’s best offense, the Patriots used a heavy dose of Jonathan Jones and Devin McCourty double-covering All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Jones, who saw his biggest playing time share since week four, kept Hill without a catch on two targets (Hill’s lone reception came against Keion Crossen). New England also used its cornerbacks to go against All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce, who also had a quiet night.Along the defensive line, the Patriots decided against using Danny Shelton and instead went with Adam Butler http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-danny-shelton-jersey , Lawrence Guy and Malcom Brown as their defensive tackle group. While a comparatively light package, the trio was able to control the point of attack against both the run and the pass and set things up well for second-level blitzes.Special TeamsTotal snaps: 31Ten Patriots played exclusively on special teams on Sunday, with safety Obi Melifownu one of them: the former second-round draft pick was active for the first time since week 13 but saw only limited action by playing three kicking game snaps. Melifonwu did, however, register a tackle in the kicking game. What also stands out is once again the heavy special teams workload for Patrick Chung: besides playing all 52 defensive snaps, the veteran also was on the field for 14 of 31 kicking game snaps. FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — This much is clear about the Patriots‘ latest run to the AFC championship game: it’s come with a lot of introspection and reinvention on offense.Gone are the days in which New England can just bank on Tom Brady piling up four-touchdown games on a weekly basis or can simply toss the ball in Rob Gronkowski’s orbit in crunch time and expect great things to happen.Brady Derek Rivers Jersey , while not showing accelerated signs of decline at age 41, did look more human during his 19th NFL season with only one four-touchdown game and 11 interceptions — his most picks since 2013.Gronk isn’t as old as Brady, but he’s certainly more beaten up and playing with a body that after multiple injuries and surgeries had him seriously thinking about retirement after last season’s Super Bowl loss.Following a regular season that saw New England lose five games — its most losses since 2009— Bill Belichick recognized the need for this team to lean even more on its collective offensive strength. The result has been a team that has rediscovered its ability to run the football and wear teams down. New England did it successfully in Sunday’s 41-28 divisional-round win over the Los Angeles Chargers . It will be needed again for New England to upend a youth-led Kansas City Chiefs team in the AFC title game.“You can’t get one-dimensional in these types of games,” Brady said. “It’s too tough against too many good teams. You get to this point and there’s very little margin of error and you’re going to have to be good in all phases. Running it, throwing it, kicking it, playing defense Womens Cordarrelle Patterson Jersey , everything. We’ll have to do it again.”Sony Michel scored three touchdowns and rushed for 129 yards against the Chargers. The three scores were the most ever by a Patriots rookie in a playoff game.Michel’s backfield mates were equally active. Rex Burkhead added a 6-yard TD run and James White’s 15 catches tied Darren Sproles for the most receptions in a single game in NFL playoff history. They had a season-best four rushing touchdowns. The 155 rushing yards also marked the Patriots’ fifth time with 130 or more yards since their bye week. New England has not lost a game this season when rushing for 100 or more yards as a team.“It’s all about trust and patience,” Michel said. “We’ve got faith that coach is going to call the best play possible for us to succeed and guys are going to take pride in executing the play — the offensive line, the receivers, everybody is going to do their job, and it’s our job to do our job.”Like the Patriots, Kansas City has a steadying presence setting the tone in veteran coach Andy Reid, but the Chiefs also have a second-year quarterback in Patrick Mahomes who has been mostly unflappable throughout a season in which he’s a favorite to win MVP as a first-time http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-patrick-chung-jersey , full-time starter. After trailing big during their Week 6 matchup with the Patriots, Mahomes brought the Chiefs back and tied the game late. It took a field goal by Stephen Gostkowski as time expired for New England to pull out a 43-40 win in Foxborough. While Brady threw for 340 yards and a touchdown in that game, he hasn’t fared well on the road against the Chiefs. He has just a 1-2 record with three touchdown passes and six interceptions in three games at Arrowhead Stadium. This will be Brady’s first playoff game in Kansas City.White said their task this week is not to overthink how to translate their success on the road.“Just execute for four quarters, start fast, just play Patriot football,” he said. “It doesn’t matter what we did during the regular season. This is going to be a battle of what we do on next Sunday. We’ve just got to put our best foot forward and play Patriot football. That’s all we have to do.”

Drew (@DrewFromJersey) and I have finally put the finishing touches to our last mock of the year. We hop you don’t hate it too much.EDTShareTweetShareShareScouting The 2019 NFL Draft: 7 Round Jets Mock Draft - Part 2Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY SportsIt’s only a mere hours until we know which 1st rounder will have the privilege of putting on the green and white for 2019 and beyond. With our first mock we wanted to just get names out there that we thought should be on everyone’s radar. With this one we will try and go for what we think will happen and more or less what we want to happen.Round 1EDGE, Nick Bosa, Ohio StateIf there is no trade offer, and Nick Bosa is on the board, you don’t hesitate. It’s sort of wishful thinking to believe Bosa will be here by pick 3, but Macc has some kind of Weekend At Bernies 2, Witch Doctor magic surrounding him. The top guys on his board just fall to him like sailors lured in by the singing of the sirens. With this pick we finally have a bonafide edge to match with our above average interior D-Line.Round 3OT, Yodny Cajuste, West VirginiaQB? Check! Edge? Check! LT? check! If we make this pick, for once in a very long time we can say that we have the top 3 most valuable positions filled. Cajuste is the kind of nasty tackle that would fit right in on this team of “dogs.” He is no stranger to playing through the whistle. With the wingspan of a 737 MAX 8, he easily heards defenders away from the QB. He shows good balance, footwork and strength to also be plus in the run game. He has 1st round talent, but there are rumblings that he is injury prone. His most recent was a torn quad. In the 3rd round, a talent like Cajuste’s is too good to pass up.Round 3 via the SaintsCB, David Long Neal Sterling Jerseys 2019 , MichiganLong does not really live up to his name. He is neither very tall, nor does he have very long arms. What he does have is the ability to play press man. In a Gregg Williams defense, that is gold. David does well to jam receivers at the line, and then mirror them in coverage. He won’t be winning many battles against the Julio Jones of the league, but would do just fine against everyone else. He can play outside or inside.Round 4 WR, Antoine Wesley, Texas TechWesley is one of my favorite under the radar receivers. At 6’5”, 200 lbs, he is a sizeable figure on the field. Don’t let that fool you though. He is a very polished route runner. When defenders shy away from press, he uses every inch of space they give him to make them pay. If they do have the nads to play press against him, he does well to use his hands and long strides to release and seperate. Throw in some very reliable hands, and you have yourself the makings of a mid round darling.Round 6RB, Devine Ozigbo, NebraskaAdding Bell gives us one of the most dominant RBs since Curtis Martin. That’s saying a lot. Behind him though, there isn’t much to get excited about. Elijah McGuire and Trenton Cannon are decent 3rd down options that are still growing. If Bell were to go down, we don’t have anyone to take early down carries or do red zone stuff. Ozigbo is a patient load. He would be wonderful in a zone scheme. Lucky for us, Gase does love himself some zone blocking.Round 7G/C White Doug Middleton Jerseys , Nick Allegretti, IllinoisAnother sleeper that no one is talking about that I absolutely love. Illinois didn’t have much in terms of talent, but Allegretti stuck out to me. He moves very well, and packs a punch with his very well placed hands. He was routinely putting defenders on their backs. Nick plays all along the interior of the o-line. He would make great depth with the possibility of being a gem. FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Jamal Adams vowed as a rookie to never miss another Pro Bowl after the selections were announced last year.Well, the New York Jets‘ playmaking safety is now 1 for 1 on delivering on that bold prediction.Adams was picked as the starting strong safety for the AFC after being a bright spot in a mostly otherwise gloomy season for the Jets.“Yeah, it’s an honor, man — a dream come true, honestly,” Adams said. “I had a moment with my father. He called me and he was definitely tearing up and he was happy for me and I was tearing up a little bit. I cried a little bit later, just at my house by myself.”Adams’ father George was the Giants’ first-round draft pick in 1985 and played five seasons at running back for New York before playing his final two with New England. The elder Adams injured his hip before his second season and never lived up to his lofty draft status. The younger Adams was picked sixth overall by the Jets last year — 13 spots ahead of where his dad was taken 32 years earlier.“His career was cut short due to injury and, honestly, I felt like me being drafted by the Jets, it was my calling to come here and where he left off, to take off from there,” Jamal Adams said. “He always wanted to make the Pro Bowl and do great things, but it didn’t happen that way.“I did it for my family and I did it for myself Doug Middleton Jerseys 2019 , and I did it for this team.”Adams was one of three Jets selected for the Pro Bowl, joining return specialist Andre Roberts and kicker Jason Myers, with all three set to play in the NFL’s all-star game in Orlando, Florida, for the first time next month.Adams had a solid rookie season last year, but fell short of being picked for the game. The safety wrote on Twitter : “I wont miss another Pro bowl. Believe that.”Nearly a year to the day of that tweet, Adams got the news he wanted to hear and posted a picture of himself with outstretched arms and the words, “I’M IN” in bold, capital letters.“His work habit has always been outstanding, but (he’s) now growing into a really bona fide leader for the team,” defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers said. “Then you keep looking at the way he works and prepares. I just left practice and I’m sitting there, here we are on a Thursday, checks and making sure everybody’s getting lined up and making the calls. That’s the way it should go.“The guy comes in, works his butt off, does everything you ask him, plays his butt off and really somebody else noticed it.”It’s hard not to.Adams is one of the biggest hitters on the field, routinely delivering punishing blows to opposing receivers and ball carriers. He also always seems to be around the ball White Brandon Copeland Jerseys , a nod to the instincts coaches and scouts raved about leading up to the draft. He ranks third on the team, according to the coaches’ stats, with 91 overall tackles. Adams also has 3½ sacks, three forced fumbles, eight tackles for loss and seven quarterback hits — all ranking him at the top or near in the league among safeties.“He’s a phenomenal player, man,” linebacker Avery Williamson said. “You can consider him, like, the best safety in the league. He’s done a great job this year, he’s all over the field and I mean, he’s got that talent. He’s going to bring it every week and it’s definitely awesome playing with him.”The 23-year-old Adams has also quickly established himself as an emotional leader for the Jets despite having just nearly two seasons of pro experience under his belt. The safety says that’s the only way he knows, and it was like that growing up in Texas and throughout a brilliant college career at LSU.“He’s that tone-setter,” Williamson said. “He’s (got) that ‘it’ factor. Man, you love having guys like that on your team.”Williamson spent his first four seasons with Tennessee, so he knew little about Adams before signing with New York as a free agent in the offseason.“The only thing I knew about him was I heard that he would die for the game.” Williamson said while laughing, referring to comments by Adams during a Jets town hall event with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in July 2017.“I was like, ‘This dude’s crazy Brandon Copeland Jerseys 2019 ,'” Williamson added. “That’s all I really knew about him. But, yeah, he’s a great player. He talks a lot, but he backs it up.”Adams is far from satisfied by being selected for this Pro Bowl. His goal, of course, is to keep making the team for as long as he keeps playing. This one, though, will always have a place in his heart.“I definitely did it for my father,” Adams said. “My mother, as well, and she’s definitely proud of me. My father and I have special relationship. I know he was excited.”

around the league Darryl Johnson NFL Draft , but one of the players given a franchise tag last week has reportedly started making plans for the summer.Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Seahawks defensive end Frank Clark has no plans to sign the tag and does not plan to attend training camp with the team if it is not replaced by a new, multi-year contract. Rapoport indicates that Clark would return to play out the season with Seattle, but it’s a good bet that all things are up in the air until closer to decision points. The tag comes with a one-year salary of $17.128 million.Clark and the Seahawks have until July 15 to talk about a longer deal, assuming he remains under Seattle’s control. The Bills are reportedly one of several teams interested in trading for Clark and his plans to stay away from the Seahawks indefinitely might make that option an appealing one. CINCINNATI BENGALS (7-9)New faces: LT Cordy Glenn, RT Bobby Hart Darryl Johnson Buffalo Bills Jersey , C Billy Price, LB Preston Brown, S Jessie Bates, DE Sam Hubbard.Key losses: QB AJ McCarron, C Russell Bodine Youth Shaq Lawson Jerseys , CB Adam “Pacman” Jones, RB Jeremy Hill, LB Kevin Minter.Strengths: Playmakers at every spot on offense, especially receiver with A.J. Green, John Ross Shaq Lawson Jerseys Stitched , Tyler Boyd and Josh Malone. Second-year RB Joe Mixon is dual threat to run or catch, as is veteran Giovani Bernard. QB Andy Dalton coming off subpar year after getting little time to throw. Coordinator Bill Lazor overhauled offense, aiming for more big plays. Deep group of pass rushers led by veteran linemen Carlos Dunlap and Geno Atkins along with second-year LB Carl Lawson anchors reconfigured defense under new coordinator Teryl Austin. Dunlap and Atkins got multiyear extensions before the final preseason game.Weaknesses: Offensive line was unable to open holes for run game or protect Dalton last season, when Bengals finished last in yards on offense for first time in their history. Overhauled line will be key, and it struggled at times during preseason Youth Frank Gore Jerseys , especially right side. Bengals counting on Ross and Boyd to have breakout years after disappointing seasons. Also need TE Tyler Eifert to stay healthy coming off back surgery.Fantasy Player To Watch: Mixon. With Hill gone, second-year back moves into primary role. Bengals plan to use him as receiver more, and he’s shown ability to turn short catches into big plays in preseason.Vegas Says: Super Bowl 105-1. Over/under wins 7.Expectations: Decision to bring back coach Marvin Lewis after second straight losing season and 0-7 playoff record sent message of more-of-same in Cincinnati, which operates under change-averse owner Mike Brown and hasn’t won playoff game since 1990 season, sixth-longest stretch of futility in NFL history. Tate has issued a statement explaining the situation.“This past April, during the offseason, my wife and I decided to see a specialist for fertility planning,” Tate said. “I started the treatment prescribed to me and just days later I discovered it contained an ingredient that is on the league’s banned substance list. I immediately discontinued use, I reported the situation to the Independent Administrator of the NFL Policy on Performance-Enhancing Substances, and I spoke with my coaches and general manager. I did all of this well before a failed test was even confirmed.”The timeline becomes important to fully understanding the situation. When did Tate start taking the substance? When was he tested? How long does the substance or its metabolites remain in the system? Those are fair questions to ask, given that no players who fail PED tests ever say, “I tried to cheat, and I got caught.” Everyone (except Julian Edelman) has an excuse, and every excuse entails some version of the notion that the player didn’t intentionally take a banned substance.Tate expressed “confiden[ce] in the facts,” but he didn’t explain the basis for his belief that an appeal will prevail. Given that the PED policy applies a standard of strict liability that makes players responsible for everything that is in their bodies, intent doesn’t matter.“During the entirety of my 10 year career I have taken great pride in playing this game the right way, have been an ambassador for the NFL and have never had any issues with the league’s policy,” Tate said. “The treatment this past April had no effect on the upcoming season, and I did not, and could not have undergone this treatment in April for any competitive advantage.”That’s fine as a matter of P.R., but it’s irrelevant to the question of whether Tate will prevail on appeal. And the lesson for all other players is simple. Before undergoing any course of medical treatment, whether for fertility or anything else, make sure the substance being ingested contains no banned substances under the PED policy ever taking it. Is there a method to Dave Gettleman’s apparent madness?"The knee-jerk, emotional Daniel Jones Jersey Draft , reaction was — and still is — to roast New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman for Tuesday’s decision not to use the franchise or transition tag on Landon Collins, thus allowing him to become a free agent.Upset fans on Twitter, and in the comments here at Big Blue View, did it. Many in the media, confused by the message this sends to players in the locker room and uncertain how Gettleman plans to make the Giants better on defense, did it.I’m not going to do it. I’m also not going to sing the praises of this move, be a Gettleman apologist or try to downplay the talent of Collins. What I’m going to try and do is figure out what happened on Tuesday, why it happened and what it means for the 2019 Giants.Look, by itself I don’t like this move. Not even a little bit. The Giants can’t keep hemorrhaging talent, especially young talent that the organization drafted. Jason Pierre-Paul is in Tampa Bay. Eli Apple is in New Orleans. Damon Harrison, Devon Kennard and Romeo Okwara are in Detroit. Ereck Flowers is in limbo. Olivier Vernon is almost certain to be gone soon.Collins now is an ex-Giant. For all of the criticism of former GM Jerry Reese — here and elsewhere — trading up to get Collins at the top of Round 2 in the 2015 NFL Draft was one of the best and most aggressive moves Reese ever made. Now, the only players remaining on the roster that Reese drafted are Zak DeOssie (2007), Odell Beckham Jr. (2014) , Sterling Shepard and Paul Perkins (2016) and Evan Engram, Dalvin Tomlinson, Wayne Gallman and Avery Moss from 2017. That’s eight. When the Giants replaced Tom Coughlin with Ben McAdoo in 2015, co-owner John Mara spoke about the Giants’ inability to build a core of long-term Giants from within, from their draft classes.Four years later, they still haven’t been able to do that. It’s one of the reasons Reese is gone and Gettleman is in the GM chair. This move, though Daniel Jones NFL Jersey , won’t help build that core.Gettleman and Pat Shurmur have spoken since the end of the 2018 season about the need for more defensive play-makers. Gettleman has spoken about being aware that every move the team makes sends a message to the locker room.Collins is just 25. He is one of the game’s premier box safeties. He was already a defensive captain and team leader. The respect everyone around the Giants organization has for him is obvious. You don’t have to be in the locker room to know. All you have to do is look at the turnout of both present and former Giants for Collins’ annual charity softball game to benefit the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund to see it. Collins played hard. He played hurt. He played well. What more could he have done? Probably not a whole lot. It’s absolutely fair to ask the question “what the heck is Gettleman doing here?” So, let’s do that. What is Gettleman doing? This is the part where it helps not to just blindly write the first thing that comes to mind. Where it helps to sit back, gather your thoughts, try to gather some information. Try to, for lack of a more original way to put it, see the forest for the trees.During the Combine, Gettleman kept going back to the idea of eliminating distractions. It’s apparent he knew Collins would be unhappy with the tag and that there would be months of attention in the media focused on that.Gettleman also spoke about the money and about how decisions can’t be made “in a vacuum.” It’s apparent that he felt like the $11.2 million franchise tag was too much. He also didn’t want to use the $9.531 million transition tag, risk being blown out of the water by an offer he didn’t want to match, and end up without even a 2020 compensatory pick for Collins. All of that is well and good, and I believe that the general manager believes those things. I don’t, however, believe they are reasons to let a 25-year-old foundation piece on defense — one of the few play-makers you have — leave. So, what’s the deal? This is really all about asset allocation in a salary cap league. It’s apparent that Gettleman, Pat Shurmur and defensive coordinator James Bettcher don’t see Collins as a guy they want to allocate a massive amount of money to. Perhaps it comes down to the simple notion that the organization doesn’t see the player’s value the same way the player — and the fan base — does.Collins fell to the second round of the draft largely because talent evaluators questioned whether he had the speed and range to patrol the back end of the defense. He doesn’t. While he has always grated against the notion, Collins is a box safety. He is a play-maker at the line of scrimmage vs. the run. He can cover adequately in the short areas of the field. He’s not an Earl Thomas or an Ed Reed who can go sideline to sideline as a centerfielder. He is, by traditional definition, a strong safety rather than a free safety.Back to value. Reality is, in the NFL the safeties who get PAID are generally the free safeties. Seven of the top eight contracts for safeties are currently for players considered free safeties, the last line of defense guys who make plays all over the field. Yes, Kam Chancellor and Reshad Jones are exceptions to this. The Giants apparently didn’t want to make Collins one.Collins is a really good player. He is not Daniel Jones NFL Draft , though, a free safety. In a league where everyone is looking for guys who can cover, that’s not his strong suit. He is more of an old-school thumper. It’s not popular. It’s not easy. I don’t know if it will end up being right or wrong. Perhaps, though, the Giants just have a different vision for how they want to allocate resources on a defense that needs to be rebuilt. What matters is what happens nextDuring his Combine chat with New York media, Gettleman reminded multiple times that it is early in the process. Free agency hasn’t begun yet. The draft is still weeks away. It’s easy to be upset because all we have seen is what the Giants have subtracted. We haven’t yet seen what Gettleman and Co. will do about getting better. Will they make a big run at Chicago Bears safety Adrian Amos, a 26-year-old player who could handle the single-high responsibilities required in a Bettcher defense? If it’s not Amos, the free agent market is flush with good players who won’t cost as much as Collins. Could the Giants perhaps find a box safety in the middle portion of the draft?Could they use some of that money that would have been allocated to Collins to make a run at a free agent cornerback like Bryce Callahan, also of the Bears? Other top corners on the market could be Ronald Darby, Pierre Desir and Steven Nelson.Gettleman has made a risky, unpopular move here. No doubt. He didn’t make it in a vacuum, though, as he would remind everyone. What really matters isn’t what the Giants defense looks like today, March 6. What matters is what Gettleman does between now and when the season begins in September. It is easy to rush to judgment now. Let’s see, though, what things look like once we have the full picture.

Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsThe New England Patriots broke with tradition during the 2019 NFL draft: for the first time since Bill Belichick took over as head coach and de facto general manager, the club selected a wide receiver in the first round of the draft. Arizona State’s N’Keal Harry will add size and physicality to a Patriots skill position group that lost both attributes when All-World tight end Rob Gronkowski decided to retire in late March.Harry will obviously not replace what a generational talent like Gronkowski brought to the table. The two do play different positions, after all. That being said, he will still be of value to a team that has lacked a big outside wide receiver for quite some time now — especially with Josh Gordon and his similar skill set still indefinitely suspended. Harry might therefore see a prominent role in New England’s offense right away.More N’Keal Harry storiesMark J. At his peak, Moss was nothing short of a cheat code.Expecting Harry to do the same is unrealistic, but he can still be a very good complementary receiver for quarterback Tom Brady. “I love N’Keal Harry — he was my number one receiver,” a current NFL general manager told Sando. “They haven’t drafted receivers early, but Belichick is really good at understanding every draft is different. He understands, ‘I am taking the guy Antonio Garcia Jersey , he is a receiver, I don’t care.’”Whether or not Harry will live up to the lofty comparisons and compliments thrown his way remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: based on his skill set, he should fit in very well in New England as a prototypical X-receiver type. The aforementioned Moss and Gordon were (in Gordon’s case: are) similar in this regard, and if the rookie can follow their footsteps at least somewhat the NFL better watch out — even with Gronk no longer part of the equation. The Patriots get more talent in the trenches while adding two likely starters at wide receiver and tight end."WhitePatriots News Opinion and Analysis Contribute! EDTShareTweetShareShareMichael McDermott’s Mock Draft: Patriots bolster defensive line, offensive line, and pass catching corpsMark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsThe Patriots enter the draft with 12 picks, six of which will be in the first three rounds. This mock draft will cover the first four rounds and mostly consists of my own speculation of how the board will go tonight. The biggest needs I considered were DT, EGDE, OT, WR, TE, and QB for the draft although there aren’t any positions outside of maybe CB where you can say the team is set for the next 3 years with their current personnel. With the 32nd Pick Womens Julian Edelman Jersey , the New England Patriots select Clelin Ferrell, EGDE, ClemsonI anticipate that Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawrence, Jeffery Simmons, and Greedy Williams will all be off the board by the time the Patriots pick at 32. So here the Patriots are choosing between edge rusher Clelin Ferrell, interior DL Jerry Tillery, WR A.J. Brown, and TE Irv Smith Jr. Considering the value of the players available, Ferrell has the highest chance of starting on Day 1 of those picks with Brown being the next highest value of the picks. Given that the Patriots can get a player with 90% the talent in the second round in J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, I decided to go for Ferrell since he profiles pretty well for what the Patriots like in a hand-in-the-dirt defensive end. He sets the edge and is a strong run defender with moderate pass rush upside (8-10 sacks) and has been very consistent each year. Ferrell would be contribute to start right away even though the Patriots have Michael Bennett and Deatrich Wise Jr. penciled in as their top 2 defensive ends in the rotation with John Simon, Derek Rivers, and Keionta Davis getting playing time with the Patriots in 2018. Ferrell also comes with NCAA postseason experience, as he helped Clemson win two national titles in the past three seasons. With the 56th Pick, the New England Patriots select J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, WR http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-sony-michel-jersey , StanfordWhen looking at potential plug and play guys at the WR position, I expect A.J. Brown, Riley Ridley, and Deebo Samuel to go between picks 32 and 56. As I see it, the Patriots could either vote to optimize the OL depth with a player like Scharping, who I mocked to the Patriots with their next second round pick, go with a plug and play outside WR in Arcega-Whiteside, or add to their defensive front 7. Arcega-Whiteside is a big-bodied with a big catch radius with 33 1/2” arms and a background in basketball, which would allow for Tom Brady and the next QB to hit him on back-shoulder passes away from the defender in the red zone. He’s not an explosive vertical threat, but is a very fluid route runner and knows the nuances of the skill fairly well. Belichick has tapped the Stanford program under David Shaw twice in the last five seasons with the selections of Cameron Fleming, who went on to be a quality swing tackle, and Jordan Richards, who I will not talk about further. Arcega-Whiteside has a pretty moderate ceiling but also a high floor as a WR2 in a high-powered offense. With the 64th Pick, the New England Patriots select Max Scharping, OT, Northern IllinoisThe Patriots have had bad luck at developing tackles with their last two major selections at the positions combining for zero snaps played. Wynn is recovering from a preseason Achilles rupture last season and the team doesn’t have much depth at the position behind Wynn and Cannon on the OL. The Patriots will likely find a way to solve this issue in addition to selecting Scharping Joe Thuney Jersey , a 4-year starter on the OL. Competition level is a concern since Scharping played in a mid major program, but that’s otherwise the only major flag as a draftable player. Experience at both tackle spots in college makes for an interesting dynamic on the OL and whether or not Scharping ends up at LT or RT depends on if Wynn can recover from his injury and assume the LT spot. With the 73rd Pick, the New England Patriots select Jace Sternberger, TE, Texas A&MThis year’s TE class is very shallow if you’re looking for draftable players before the 4th round. Hockenson is the closest to a complete TE with the other players in the draft class more glorified receivers. After the first round, the only 2 TEs I liked are Irv Smith Jr. and Jace Sternberger as fits. Smith will likely go in the Top 50, leaving the Patriots with just Sternberger as an option on Day 2. Sternberger doesn’t have ideal size or speed measurables and certainly isn’t a great run blocker either, but he is an excellent route runner from the TE position with TE1 production potential down the road after he bulks up over 260. Sternberger isn’t going to likely end up as an inline blocker due to his smaller frame relative to the position, but could develop into a decent blocker on the move and a quality pass receiver. With the 97th Pick, the New England Patriots select Will Harris, Safety, Boston CollegeHarris offers great versatility to a New England secondary that has aging starters at the safety position. Devin McCourty and Patrick Chung will be 32 when the season starts, so they're closer to the end of their respective careers. Duron Harmon is a quality 3rd safety in the rotation, but his lack of top-end speed caused him to be phased out of the gameplan against KC and played sparingly in the Super Bowl as the Patriots employed the Four Corners defense. Harris can play any role you can ask a safety to do: deep, box, man coverage Womens Cyrus Jones Jersey , robber, or even the slot. His CB level athleticism combined with an ideal build for a safety makes him a great fit for covering TEs and RBs in the slot or wide. Throw in the fact he's also likely to develop into a core special teamer, there's too much value here to pass up.With the 101st Pick, the New England Patriots select Brett Rypien, QB, Boise StateThe backup QB spot is a position that gets neglected by teams, but in certain cases having a quality backup can be a season-saver. Rypien is the son of former Super Bowl winning QB Mark Rypien and has been around the game his whole life. His arm talent is pretty average but does have 4 years starting experience with quality production and sees the field well. The Patriots offense requires the QB to be able to process the defense pre and post snap, although the Patriots do a great job at forcing the defense to tell. Worst case scenario Rypien develops into a quality backup for 4 years behind Tom Brady and best case scenario he is able to be a solid starter down the road. With the 134th pick, the New England Patriots select Renell Wren, DT, Arizona StateWren is an interesting player from a fit perspective. He has ideal size and length to be both a 3-4 end and 4-3 interior DL, although he has a tendency to play out of control at times. However the upside as a potential 3-down starter if his feet and hands are coached up is undeniable and worth taking a mid-round gamble on. Early on he can start out as the #4 DT in the rotation while the coaching staff works hard on correcting his technique problems.

So were plenty of penalty flags and fumbles. The result: Another prolific offensive performance, and another Buccaneers loss. The Cowboys (9-6) clinched the NFC East with a 27-20 win over Tampa Bay, capitalizing on two critical Buccaneers turnovers and 85 yards rushing from Ezekiel Elliott. Dak Prescott completed 20-of-25 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for another score.Anytime the Buccaneers (5-10) seemed to generate momentum, they were derailed by a flag or turnover. The costliest play came late in the first quarter, when Jameis Winston escaped pressure only to be caught from behind and strip-sacked by Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory. Dallas linebacker Jaylon Smith scooped up the ball and returned it 69 yards for a touchdown. It was Winston’s first fumble since returning to the starting lineup in Week 12 against San Francisco.“Yeah, that just can’t happen,” Winston said. “That’s the bottom line. It can’t happen.”A series in the third quarter epitomized the Buccaneers’ day. A 33-yard run by Peyton Barber was nullified because of a holding penalty on tight end Antony Auclair. On the next play, a botched handoff from Winston to wide receiver Bobo Wilson was recovered by Gregory at the Tampa Bay 4.The Cowboys scored two plays later to take a 27-13 lead.“Two huge plays in that game really swung it,” Tampa Bay coach Dirk Koetter said. “We’re moving it Lee Roy Selmon Jersey , going in to possibly score, then fumble and they take it all the way back. And then we fumbled on the handoff (to Wilson), and they get the ball on the goal line. That’s a 14- to 17-point swing right there.”Turnovers were only part of the story. Tampa Bay also committed nine penalties for 72 yards, many of them at crucial moments. On the opening possession, wideout Mike Evans beat Cowboys cornerback Byron Jones deep down the left sideline for a 38-yard completion, putting the Bucs in scoring position. But one play later, center Caleb Benenoch was flagged for holding, and Tampa Bay had to settle for Cairo Santos‘ field goal.On the Cowboys’ subsequent drive, defensive tackle Vita Vea sacked Prescott for a 10-yard loss but was flagged for a facemask, setting up first down from the 7. Prescott rushed for a touchdown on the next play.“We moved the ball consistently all day Ronald Jones Jersey , and penalties put us in a bind sometimes,” Koetter said. “We overcame some of them. It’s frustrating to move the ball like that and not get touchdowns. Against good teams, that’s what you’re supposed to do.”Winston hobbled a Bucs first-half drive on a rare block-in-the-back call against the quarterback. And in the 4th quarter, facing a 4th-and-1 from the Dallas 2, Winston lost track of time and Tampa Bay was flagged for delay of game.“I thought we were going to get the ball snapped,” Koetter said. “We didn’t do a good job there.”Winston scrambled for 5 yards on the next play, stretching just short of the first down and turning the ball back over to Dallas.“I don’t know what happened with the clock,” Winston said. “I just have to call it faster and get the ball out. I’ve got to do a better job with operations.”Winston finished 34 of 48 for 336 yards and a touchdown, surpassing Ryan Fitzpatrick in the first half for passing yards for the season. Tampa Bay gained just 63 yards on 24 carries. The team’s longest run went for just 8 yards.Ronald Jones aware of the hard work ahead A lot of rookies walk into the NFL like they’ve already arrived. In a sense, they have. However Mike Edwards Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jersey , many don’t realize how much more work they have ahead of them to not only make the team, but to earn the playing time they saw at the college level.A lot of these guys have been catered to and fawned over since they were in high school. They were always the best of the best. Now, they will face athletes and football players that are every bit as elite - if not more so.Ronald Jones II isn’t taking this opportunity for granted. Like anyone else, he’s excited to reach the pinnacle of America’s most popular sport. But now, he realizes the work that has to be put in to be talked about as someone who belongs in this league.Jones spoke about some of the differences he’s noticed between the two games already and what he knows he has to work on to improve his game; There’s a lot riding on Jones’ performance this season and beyond. The first three weeks will be critical given that the Bucs will be playing with backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick under center. In order for Koetter’s offense to run effectively there has to be a solid, reliable run game. They didn’t have that in Doug Martin last season and Ronald Jones is now the man responsible for revitalizing that part of the offense.

(The first set also were dropped.)Team president Bruce Allen campaigned for Foster’s reinstatement at the Combine. And Washington coach Jay Gruden said this week he hopes for an answer from the league before the draft.“It is a little frustrating,” Gruden said at the coaches’ breakfast. “I’m sure it is for him. But we have to let the process play out. We knew that going in when we claimed him that this could be a long deal. We would like to have some answers soon. I mean would like to have them before free agency, but that’s already come and gone. We’d love to have it before the draft. It’s kind of important to know if a [24]-year-old linebacker will be on your team or not. It’s kind of important. But we also know there was some risk involved Jimmy Garoppolo Jersey , and we have to let the commissioner do his thing and take some time.”Foster started all 16 games he played in two seasons with the 49ers. You could tell during John Lynch’s press conference on Monday that he was still bothered by the loss. It’d be impossible to go through this draft without a guy that has been with the organization for a decade. The Niners already said they are keeping Cobb’s seat open at the draft table this week. Today the 49ers announced that Cobb’s son DeMarcus will announce the team’s second-round pick from Nashville on Friday night. Former 49ers tight end Earl Cooper will also take part in the selection. This is awesome on a couple of different levels. Making the last minute effort to honor Cobb speaks a lot about Johny Lynch and company. What makes this that much better is that Cobb went to the University of Tennessee. The draft is being held in Nashville. DeMarcus grew up three hours from Nashville. Just an awesome gesture by the team.

(AP) — While leading the Buffalo Bills to a second straight win, it sounds as if rookie quarterback Josh Allen might have made a positive impression on one of his harshest critics. After he was reminded this week of how Jacksonville cornerback Jalen Ramsey once referred to him as “trash,” Allen was making his way off the field following a 24-21 victory over the Jaguars on Sunday when he was tapped him on the back. Allen turned to see Ramsey with his hand outstretched.“He just shook my hand and said, ‘Good job,'” Allen said.“He’s an ultimate competitor just like myself, and maybe it’s a respect thing. I’m not really sure http://www.thebillslockerroom.com/authentic-aj-mccarron-jersey ,” he added. “But I appreciate that, and it takes a big man to do that.”Showing few signs of the sprained right elbow that sidelined him the past five weeks, Allen completed a 75-yard touchdown pass to Robert Foster. Then the 22-year-old Allen punctuated his return by posing in the end zone with his biceps flexed after breaking two tackles and scoring the go-ahead touchdown on a 14-yard run at the start of the fourth quarter.“I love the fire. He personifies Buffalo, right? He’s a hard worker, blue-collar kid, and loves to compete,” coach Sean McDermott said. “He’s still so young, so again, let’s manage expectations. It was a good start for him.”Ramsey credited Allen for leading the Bills to the victory Vladimir Ducasse Jersey , but didn’t exactly take back the comments he made about the quarterback in a story published in GQ magazine in August.“It doesn’t matter what I said. I’m sure that’s really what he was thinking,” Ramsey said. “You can have opinions, but it’s about what you go out there and do. And what he did was go out there for his team and get a win.”Allen was far from perfect while exhibiting some of the inconsistency he showed while going 2-3 before he got hurt in a 20-13 loss at Houston on Oct. 14. He finished 8 of 19 for 160 yards, and his touchdown to Foster was the longest completion by a Bills quarterback since Week 2 of the 2016 season.Allen also had a team-leading 99 yards rushing to set a franchise record for quarterbacks. The Bills finished with 327 yards of offense for their second-best total this season and their top total with Allen at quarterback. He also didn’t turn the ball over, after throwing five interceptions and losing a fumble in his previous six appearances. It was the type of development McDermott wanted to see from Allen. He started the rookie ahead of journeyman Matt Barkley, who led Buffalo to a 41-10 win over the New York Jets before the Bills’ bye week. The Bills invested plenty into Allen by trading up five spots to select him seventh overall — the highest position in the draft order Buffalo has ever chosen a quarterback.“It was a good start for him,” McDermott added. “That’s a heck of a defense out there.”Allen set up Buffalo’s first touchdown drive — a 6-yard run by Isaiah McKenzie — with a 32-yard pass to Kelvin Benjamin, who was being covered by Ramsey. The Bills then scored on their next possession on Allen’s pass to Foster. Standing in the pocket, with pass-rushers Yannick Ngakoue and Dawuane Smoot closing in on him Womens Jason Croom Jersey , Allen found Foster wide open up the right sideline.Allen didn’t get to see the completion because he was hit just as he released the pass.“Whether I’m standing up or laying down on the ground, a touchdown is a touchdown and that feeling won’t change,” he said. “It was awesome.”Bills safety Jordan Poyer was impressed by what he saw from Allen.“Jalen can say whatever he wants to say about Josh, but Josh came in there and handled that defense today,” Poyer said.Allen played down any hint of bitterness he might hold against Ramsey.“There was a lot of trash-talking before and after, but ultimately my job is to go out there and help this team win football games,” he said.

(AP) — Star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. isn’t looking to shut down his season because the New York Giants are eliminated from playoff contention. He doesn’t want to risk further injury to a quad that caused him to sit out the last two games Infant Julian Love Jersey , either. The NFL’s highest-paid receiver did not practice on either Wednesday or Thursday, which seems to indicate he will not play Sunday when the Giants (5-9) face the Colts (8-6) in Indianapolis. The 26-year-old said his leg is feeling better and he believes his status is day to day. He added he did not think much of the injury after it happened on the final play against Philadelphia on Nov. 25, and it might have been a little more serious than he thought.Surprisingly, Beckham played the following week against the Bears and threw and caught a touchdown pass in the Giants’ 30-27 win in overtime. He missed games at Washington and at home against Tennessee the past two weeks.“I am just trying to find my way back,” said Beckham, who has 77 receptions for a team-high 1,052 yards and six touchdowns. “We only get 16 opportunities to play games, missing them is not fun. I feel like I missed enough games already, so I am just trying to get back as fast as possible.”Many observers feel the Giants should not risk further injury to their most explosive receiver with the playoffs out of reach for a second straight year. Beckham didn’t like that train of thought.“If I can play I am going to play Julian Love Jersey Draft ,” Beckham said. “That’s just the bottom line. You dreamed of being here. You dedicated and did everything to be here, so you do all this to play games. As much fun as the meetings are and all the other stuff, you do this to play games. If I can play, I am in there headfirst.”Beckham missed most of last season after breaking his left ankle in the fifth game. He worked extremely hard in the offseason and was ready for the start of 2018.If Beckham cannot play this weekend, his last opportunity would come in the regular-season finale against the Dallas Cowboys (8-6), who lead the NFC East but have yet to lock up a postseason berth.“That’s the goal. I want to be able to finish the season as much as possible,” Beckham said. “But you have to listen to your body, your body is going to tell you what you need to do. I feel like times in the past I have not listened to it and other things have happened. I’m trying to look at it a day at a time and not 10 days in advance.”Beckham refused to say whether he had more tests on his quad since last week.Looking back on the season, Beckham said he has been encouraged with what the Giants have done under Pat Shurmur Julian Love NFL Jersey , especially winning four of five after the bye week. They went 3-13 in 2017 with a different coaching staff.“Ever since I have been here, we have lost close games,” Beckham said. “There haven’t been a lot of games we have been blown out. Recently, we found a way to win these close games. Definitely finding ways to win and change that culture.”Beckham said not making the Pro Bowl was motivation to work harder and get there next year.NOTES: Besides Beckham, LB Alec Ogletree (concussion), WR Russell Shepard (ankle) and C Spencer Pulley (calf) missed practice for the second straight day. DL Kerry Wynn (thumb) was limited again. S Michael Thomas practiced fully after being excused Wednesday for a family problem.

He had Miami moving Irving Fryar Jerseys Stitched , completing an 11-yard pass to Frank Gore to midfield but Laremy Tunsil was called for illegal use of hands.Tannehill’s injury came on a sack by defensive tackle Adam Butler with 46 seconds remaining in the second quarter. It appeared Ja鈥橶uan James accidentally stepped on Tannehill鈥檚 foot. Tannehill limped to the locker room. It nearly was a disastrous sequence for the Dolphins to end the half, but Robert Quinn saved the day for Miami with a sack of Tom Brady on the final play of the first half. The Patriots were on the Miami 2-yard line before the sack. The Dolphins averted even more trouble when Gore fumbled on the first play of the second half. Miami recovered, although a chuck of grass was lost, prompting the grounds crew to try to fix the hole. Read more: Experts grade the Patriots’ day two draft picks, and other league reactions"The second day of the 2019 NFL draft is in the books and it saw the New England Patriots make a flurry of moves to ultimately come away with four players: cornerback Joejuan Williams, defensive edge Chase Winovich, running back Damien Harris, and offensive tackle Yodny Cajuste will all wear the Patriots’ uniform next year. Let’s find out how their additions impact the men already on New England’s roster.Winner: The entire tight end depth chartHeading into the draft and after the retirement of Rob Gronkowski, tight end was seen as the Patriots’ top need. Two days into the event Infant Yodny Cajuste Jersey , however, the club has yet to address the position. While this could very well change today, the second day was a good one for the players currently under contract in New England: Matt LaCosse, Jacob Hollister, Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Ryan Izzo and Stephen Anderson did not see a highly drafted challenger enter the ring.Losers: CB J.C. Jackson & SS Obi MelifonwuBy drafting Joejuan Williams, the Patriots added a tall and physical defensive back that could basically fill the roles held by J.C. Jackson and Obi Melifonwu in 2018. Jackson, who had an outstanding rookie campaign, played primarily as a press-man corner on the boundary — just like Williams did at Vanderbilt. Melifonwu Yodny Cajuste Jersey Draft , meanwhile, was brought on to help against tight ends but never really established himself in that role. Seeing the second-round rookie take his job only seems like a formality at this point.Winners: QB Brian Hoyer & QB Danny EtlingGiven Tom Brady’s advanced age, New England always appears to be in the market for quarterbacks — which by extension is bad news for his backups. So far, however, the Patriots opted against investing in a passer despite being in a position to grab highly-rated prospects Drew Lock and Will Grier. If the Patriots add another quarterback this draft, he will probably not be a roster lock given his draft status.Loser: RB Brandon BoldenWhile Brandon Bolden is primarily a special teamer, one has to wonder how the addition of Damien Harris impacts his standing on the team: Harris has experience playing in the kicking game and offers way more upside as a ball carrier. Bolden knows the Patriots’ system and has leadership skills on his side as well, but those can only get you so far. And even though veteran will likely not lose his roster spot because of Harris, it has become a little less secure due to his addition.Loser: DE Derek RiversAs things stand right now Yodny Cajuste NFL Jersey , the Patriots have four roster locks among their defensive edge group: Michael Bennett, Deatrich Wise Jr, John Simon and third-round pick Chase Winovich will — barring injury — all be on the opening day 53. This means that the rest of the group will likely have to enter a fight for its collective roster life, with Derek Rivers as the biggest name among the competitors. Two years removed from a season-ending ACL tear, the former third-round draft pick needs to finally live up to the potential he showed early in 2017 to make the team.Winner: RB Sony MichelThe Patriots asked a lot of first-round pick Sony Michel during his 2018 rookie season — and he delivered for the most part. One problem, however, was that the team lacked any viable depth alongside him following the season-ending injury to Jeremy Hill: at times, wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson had to serve as the starting running back. With Damien Harris now on board, New England has said depth option available and moving forward will be able to lift some pressure off the Michel’s shoulders.Loser: OT Cole CrostonYodny Cajuste is a developmental Yodny Cajuste NFL Draft , high-upside project at this point in his career, but he should immediately be considered the front-runner to earn the swing tackle backup job previously held by free agency departure LaAdrian Waddle. This also means that Cajuste, unless the quad injury that kept him out of the combine turns out to be a bigger issue than anticipated or he fails to properly adjust to life in the NFL, will likely push current number three tackle Cole Croston down the depth chart and possibly off the team.Winners: WR Braxton Berrios & WR Bruce EllingtonNew England addressed its need at wide receiver when it drafted N’Keal Harry in the first round, but still remained in the market for more depth at the position. The club did not invest in a pass catcher on day two of the draft, however, which is especially good news for Braxton Berrios and Bruce Ellington — two players who are projected to be on the roster bubble: the Patriots did not yet add an interior/slot option through the draft despite being in a position to pick UMass’ Andy Isabella in round two.

The wide receiver position in fantasy football has

been one of the more hotly debated topics in recent seasons. The depth at receiver and amount of consistent scoring led to the advent of the "zero running back" draft strategy.Utilizing that approach Vita Vea Jersey , you would refrain from selecting a running back in the early stages of your draft while loading up on the upper tier of receivers to bolster your roster. What we have seen recently in the NFL is more teams starting to employ balanced and traditional run-based attacks. This change in philosophy has thrown a wrench into fantasy drafts regarding wideouts. As we head into 2018, drafts are once again very running back heavy early on, pushing receivers that we are used to seeing in the first round back into the second round and beyond. The top tier of WRs is made up of the very elite. Antonio Brown (Pittsburgh) could be considered in a class all his own, but inside this superstar group you also have players such as Houston's DeAndre Hopkins and Odell Beckham Jr. of the Giants. Brown has led receivers in scoring the last several seasons by a wide margin, but Hopkins and Beckham are two that could close the gap and have first round draft value. The next grouping is made up of players that will likely be taken during the second round of drafts. Players like Michael Thomas (New Orleans) and Keenan Allen (Chargers) provide solid floors but have the intrigue of an insanely high ceiling as well. Atlanta's Julio Jones and Cincinnati's A.J. Green are stars from previous seasons, but is their time beginning to come to an end? Possibly, but they are still safe enough bets to bring you WR1 production. Davante Adams of Green Bay is the wild card among this group. Playing with Aaron Rodgers vaults his value and the touchdown production is there. From Mike Evans (Tampa Bay) down to Golden Tate (Detroit), you'll find players in the next range during Rounds 3 and 4 that can give you a mix of points-per-reception (PPR) league value as well as touchdown scoring in standard leagues. T.Y. Hilton of Indianapolis and Denver's Demaryius Thomas find themselves back in this conversation as their quarterback situations have greatly improved from a year ago. Vikings receivers Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs could have even better years in 2018 with the arrival of Kirk Cousins. You have injury concerns with players like Allen Robinson (Chicago) and Alshon Jeffrey (Philadelphia). Players like Browns wideout Jarvis Landry, Rams receiver Brandin Cooks and Baltimore's Michael Crabtree find themselves in new homes in hopes of making a significant fantasy impact. The potential is there for each of them, but they could struggle at times. Players in this grouping are being drafted between Rounds 5 and 6, a point where you certainly need the value but you can also swing for a bit of upside as well.In the next tier, you start to see players that will be flex options or even matchup plays in given weeks. You have the upside of players like Corey Davis (Tennessee), Chris Hogan (New England) and Sammy Watkins (Kansas City). But even those receivers come with questions and concerns. Can they avoid the inconsistencies that have plagued them in previous seasons? Other players in this group have been disappointments. Those names include Randall Cobb (Green Bay), Devin Funchess (Carolina) and DeVante Parker (Miami). With WRs in this range, just know there will be weeks of poor play. But they can also give you matchup-winning performances if started in the right scenario.Sterling Shepard of the Giants, Miami's Kenny Stills and Buffalo's Kelvin Benjamin are players that can provide safe floors in production but rarely have huge games that get you excited to put them in your lineups. Will Fuller of Houston and Nelson Agholor of Philadelphia are complete wild cards. They can both have big games or disappear for weeks at a time. Jordy Nelson (Oakland) Carlton Davis Jersey , Allen Hurns (Dallas) and Marqise Lee (Jacksonville) are players that don't jump off the page. They could be worthy of flex consideration but most likely they will be bench guys for you with matchup plays in mind.As you get into the double digit rounds, you can find the player that is getting undervalued that hits and becomes a weekly staple for you, leading to wins. You will start to see the rookies really come off the board later with a lot of talk surrounding WRs like Anthony Miller of Chicago, Denver's Courtland Sutton and Pittsburgh's James Washington in the preseason. The hype surrounding these rookies will greatly affect their average draft position, so if you like the player be prepared to jump earlier than usual. The names you will see as you finish your draft off won't give you that tingly feeling, but they will be quality receivers that can provide depth on your bench. Some may catch fire and find themselves firmly implanted in your lineup rotation, others could fall flat. The good thing is that you don't waste much value in these later rounds, making these receivers expendable if they aren't up to par.Ultimately, you may keep hearing about how the wide receiver position is deep. Don't buy into that. This position is very top-heavy with upper echelon players and can quickly fall off as you go through your draft. The best fantasy owner is one that isn't fazed by curve balls being thrown their way during a draft. They are fully prepared for what comes, either good or bad.ROTOEXPERTS TOP 15 WRAntonio Brown, Pittsburgh SteelersDeAndre Hopkins, Houston TexansMichael Thomas, New Orleans SaintsOdell Beckham Jr., New York GiantsKeenan Allen, Los Angeles ChargersDavante Adams, Green Bay PackersLarry Fitzgerald <a title="O. Hilton, Indianapolis ColtsAdam Thielen, Minnesota VikingsA.J. Green, Cincinnati BengalsStefon Diggs, Minnesota VikingsDemaryius Thomas, Denver Broncos The Chicago Bears are staring down at the rest of the NFC North for the first time in five years. The view from the top is quite a change for a franchise stuck at the bottom the past few seasons. The Bears meet the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday in a matchup between unlikely division leaders, with Chicago in sole possession of first place for the first time since Marc Trestman was the coach and Jay Cutler the quarterback."Just says we're in the right direction," linebacker Danny Trevathan said. "We're in the right place. Goes to show that we're still working hard. It's tough out here to stack them wins, but we're up for it."Tampa Bay (2-1) is tied with New Orleans and Carolina for the NFC South lead, a bit of a change for a franchise with one winning season since 2010. The Buccaneers are coming off a 30-27 loss to Pittsburgh in which they fell behind by 20 and fell short after holding the Steelers scoreless in the second half. Now, they have to decide if they'll stick with veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick or go with Jameis Winston at quarterback. Winston's three-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy is over."I'm impressed because no one thought we'd be here," coach Dirk Koetter said. "But I'm also disappointed at the same time because I feel like we had a real opportunity to be 3-0 instead of 2-1."The Bears (2-1) came into the season expecting more after four straight last-place finishes in their division, though first place seemed like a stretch even after the blockbuster trade with Oakland for Khalil Mack on Sept. 1. But here they are with sole possession of the NFC North lead for the first time since Week 16 in 2013.They've won two in a row after a 16-14 nail-biter at Arizona last week. And if they beat Tampa Bay Justin Evans Jersey , they'll match their longest run since a 3-0 start in 2013.Here are some things to know:QB DECISIONThe Bucs remain mum on whether Winston or Ryan Fitzpatrick will start against the Bears. Fitzpatrick has thrown for a league-leading 1,230 yards and 11 TDs and is the first in NFL history to top 400 yards passing in three consecutive games. Koetter informed both QBs who will take the first snap Sunday, however he's in no hurry to let the Bears or the rest of the world know."Hope everybody can appreciate that it doesn't do us any good to tell our opponents what we're going to do," Koetter said.DOMINANT 'D'Mack has been everything the Bears could have wanted when they made the trade with Oakland just before the start of the season. The two-time All-Pro is tied for the league lead with four sacks and has at least one in each game, including two last week. He is also tops in the NFL with three forced fumbles. But he has hardly been the lone contributor on defense.Trevathan and defensive tackle Akiem Hicks each have two sacks. Hicks also has two forced fumbles.MAKING THEIR POINTSTampa Bay has the NFL's No. 1 ranked offense with 1,420 yards, seventh-most in league history through three games. The team's 1,202 yards passing are the second-most at this point in a season. New England had 1,313 yards passing through three games in 2011.The Bucs are averaging 34 points per game, tied for third among league leaders. Their 102 points are a team record through three games.TAKING TIMEWith four trips to the end zone, the Bears are struggling to get touchdowns from their offense. Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has been shaky, and coach Matt Nagy might reduce the playbook this week. But he insists it's just a matter of the offense needing time to come together rather than a personnel problem."We know right now offensively we're not where we want to be," Nagy said. "But we're not in any type of panic mode because we understand that part of the process, but we're going to do everything we can to try to get better."MORE TRUBISKYTrubisky will be making his 16th career start and will have the equivalent of a full NFL season under him after this game. His 77.8 rating is barely better than the 77.5 he had in 12 games as a rookie under John Fox last season. He has more interceptions (three) than touchdown passes (two). But he's also adjusting to his second system in as many seasons after being drafted with the No. 2 overall pick in 2017."I'm still getting better," Trubisky said. "We still have to look at the improvements I have been making and not mistakes I have been making."

He played in every game and started 10, finishing with 47 tackles, 20 quarterback hits and three pass defenses — also personal bests. Copeland also was a key contributor on special teams. The former University of Pennsylvania star signed with Baltimore as an undrafted free agent in 2013 and has also had stints with Tennessee and Detroit, as well as Orlando of the Arena Football League.Sterling has played the last two seasons with the Jets, primarily as a backup on offense while also playing on special teams. He had six catches for 47 yards in five games last year when his season was cut short by a concussion in November. An undrafted free agent out of Monmouth, Sterling has 24 catches for 239 yards in four NFL seasons. He played his first two years in Jacksonville and also had a brief stint on Kansas City’s practice squad. (AP) — Jamal Adams was surprised by what he saw when he first came to the New York Jets: a negative environment the likes of which he wasn’t familiar. The second-year safety told Bleacher Report in a story published Tuesday that the Jets appeared used to losing and some players wanted to do only the bare minimum. The interview was conducted a few months ago.“I’m very passionate,” Adams said Tuesday when asked about his comments. “Coming in, I was wide-eyed. I just wanted to come in and work hard and make an impact. The things that came out, I didn’t feel very strong as far as me saying that.”Adams said he has no regrets about the comments, which made for some buzz on a hot, steamy day at training camp.“Everybody was used to losing Robby Anderson Jersey ,” Adams said in the Bleacher Report story. “You can always tell that vibe. I came in, and it was like everybody wanted to do the bare minimum. They didn’t want to go above and beyond. They didn’t want to take that extra step.”Adams, the Jets’ first-round pick out of LSU last year, insisted he never meant to disparage any of his teammates. He also acknowledged that he was speaking about players who are no longer with the team, but did not identify them.Despite being in the NFL for just one year, Adams is already considered a leader on the Jets because of his work ethic and willingness to lead by example.“I do things a little different as far as how passionate I am when I’m on the field Womens Kelvin Beachum Jersey ,” he said Tuesday. “In this world, period, not everybody works as hard as someone else. Those things are left unsaid and we’re moving forward.”Coach Todd Bowles said he spoke to Adams twice about the player’s comments — on Tuesday and a few weeks ago.“Jamal is a very young player, and he’s a very smart player, and he speaks from his heart,” Bowles said. “We talked about it. He didn’t mean a lot of the things that came out wrong.”Teammate Leonard Williams said Adams’ comments were “a little bold http://www.jetslockerroom.com/authentic-keyshawn-johnson-jersey ,” and thought he perhaps needed to say things differently — although Williams was not critical of him.“I don’t blame Jamal at all for what he said,” Williams said. “He probably just didn’t word it in the best way. He’s a young guy. He has a lot to learn on and off the field. This is part of the off-the-field stuff he has to learn.”Adams wouldn’t directly address the comments, but insisted that the culture of the team is much better now than it was a year ago — and that his teammates are “gelling.”“I never want to bash any of my teammates, that’s not what I’m here for,” Adams said. “Those guys know that. Again, it’s never going to be about me. It’s always going to be about this team and what we can do to build this culture up each and every day.”

Smokescreen central at the 49ers latest media availability"

You can tell pretty quickly during these press conferences that most of these coaches and general managers have no interest in speaking at these things. Before the draft Terrell Owens Jersey White , most of these guys know they’re not going to say anything. San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch opened up with a sincere message on the passing of Reggie Cobb. That set a genuine tone for the next 30 or so minutes Lynch spoke. Here were the six biggest takeaways from yesterday’s media availability. Two at the top?You can spin what Lynch said in a couple of ways. It certainly sounds like the team would be comfortable trading back. The guessing game to figure out the group of players that “separated themselves from the pack” is fun. Is it two to three? Or did Lynch tell us 10 for a reason. The follow-up question was just that, but Lynch declined to answer.Bosa’s social mediaOn Monday some old tweets/instagram posts resurfaced of Nick Bosa involved in some not so great things. The tone of the majority that comment have come to the defense of Bosa. It feels weird to turn him into the victim here. Lynch did a good job of letting us know just how much goes into these decisions. Lynch also mentioned how when he was in Columbus he had a chance to talk to just about everyone in the building. I’m sure he’s done his due diligence on the matter.Quinnen is in contentionLynch, on if Williams is more of a nose tackle or a three-technique, “He can play anything, that guy. He’s special.”On the future of Solomon Thomas and Arik Armstead That sounds like this is the 49ers giving two athletic players one last chance. If Kocurek is truly going to run the “Wide 9” defense, that will be a significant change to what the defense looked like last year. I know Lynch downplayed it, but changing your launching point two yards is a big deal.Staley staying putThat just feels right. I imagine Joe feels the exact same way. In my short time getting to know everything 49ers, Staley is already my favorite 49er. Easy guy to root for. Feels like “one of us.” He just so happens to be one of the best players at his position.A cornerback on Day 2?You’ve mentioned feeling good about Solomon Thomas and Arik Armstead. I would assume you feel similarly to CB Tarvarius Moore and CB Ahkello Witherspoon, but just given that CB Richard Sherman is not going to be here forever, are you taking a close look at corner in this draft relative to how you feel about Moore and Witherspoon?“That’s another one of those positions where I think you have to consistently add those guys. We’re throwing the ball, just at a rate this league, we’re in nickel packages upward to 70-percent of the time. You’ve got to have those guys and you’ve got to have great depth at that position. I think you’re always focused on trying to find good players. We took a chance on [CB] Jason Verrett because when healthy Jason Verrett was a top-level corner so we felt the risk-reward made sense in that instance. That’s an example. When you have an opportunity to improve your team there you take advantage of that.”So, a cornerback is coming. Maybe earlier than we expected? SANTA CLARA Womens Adrian Colbert Jersey , Calif. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers have little time to dwell on a heartbreaking loss to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. The Niners have to immediately shift their focus to another tough test with the undefeated Los Angeles Rams coming to town on Sunday.Coach Kyle Shanahan spent Tuesday morning going over the details of the previous night’s 33-30 loss to the Packers that featured Rodgers throwing the game-tying touchdown pass with 1:55 to play and then leading the game-winning field goal drive after an interception by C.J. Beathard. Then it was quickly on to the Rams (6-0), the NFL’s only remaining unbeaten team, who will take on the 49ers (1-5) in just five days.“Short weeks are always tough, but sometimes it can be a good thing,” Shanahan said. “Last night was a heartbreaking loss. Our guys came out and I thought played extremely aggressive, very confident and gave it their all. Whenever you do that, it gave us a chance to win that game and we came up short. That’s tough. The guys put a lot into it and that’s hard. You get back here and it hurts a little bit today, but the good thing is, you’ve got to move on faster. There’s no time to sit here and sulk.”The Niners had their chances to earn their first win in three games since losing starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a season-ending knee injury on Sept. 23.Beathard threw two TD passes in the first half in his best performance of the season to help the Niners build a 24-20 lead. Raheem Mostert provided a boost to a running game that gained 174 yards. The defense limited Rodgers to two field goals during a seven-drive stretch starting in the second quarter. But it wasn’t enough. Rodgers picked on backup cornerback Greg Mabin to lead the tying TD drive capped by a 16-yard pass to Davante Adams. The 49ers then took over at their 47 with 1:49 to go after a personal foul on the kickoff return. Needing just 20 yards to get into field-goal range, Beathard completed a 7-yard pass to George Kittle on first down, had a pass batted down at the line on second down and then took a deep shot against the blitz on third down that turned into the interception by Kevin King.By not running the ball on second or third down, the Niners gave Rodgers 1:07 to drive for the winning field goal and he delivered.“If I were to have it back, yeah Womens Fred Warner Jersey , I’d love to call something that worked,” Shanahan said. “But, then when you get into third-and-3 versus an all-out blitz, there’s not many runs for that. That was the play that we didn’t make right there and that’s what happened. But, you’re always concerned about giving it back to Aaron. I thought we had a chance to win the game right there. I know our defense struggled in the first half definitely. I was happy with how they rebounded in the second half and they gave us a chance on offense to put them away. I thought that was our biggest opportunity right there and we came up short.”The 49ers made a roster move Tuesday, signing Tom Savage to a one-year deal to be the team’s No. 3 quarterback.San Francisco has been looking for help at quarterback ever since Garoppolo went down with his injury last month. Beathard was promoted to starter and Nick Mullens was elevated from the practice squad to be the backup.Savage was originally drafted by Houston in the fourth round in 2014. Savage played 13 games with nine starts in four seasons with the Texans. He completed 181 of 315 attempts for 2,000 yards, five touchdowns and seven interceptions. He spent training camp with New Orleans before being cut Sept. 1.“There’s one thing I always liked about Savage, from coming out of college. He’s got a strong arm. He’s a very tough player. He hangs in that pocket and plays the position well,” Shanahan said. “I was a fan of his coming out of college. He’s gotten to play in a number of NFL games so he’s been battle-tested. He was in a tough situation in Houston that didn’t work out for him, but I got to study him this preseason when he was in New Orleans and they have some similarities in their offense as ours.”NOTES: CB K’Waun Williams (shoulder), CB Ahkello Witherspoon (concussion) and CB Jimmie Ward (hamstring) are all day to day. … The 49ers waived TE Cole Wick to make room on the 53-man roster for Savage. … OL Zack Golditch was released from the practice squad.
