This week we take questions on Josh Allen, the roster bubble Shaq Lawson Jerseys Stitched , Lee Smith vs Patrick DiMarco, integrating the K-Gun concepts into Buffalo’s offense, and the play that defines the 2018 Buffalo Bills’ season.Featured Question of the Week“Does it matter how good Josh Allen looks in spring practices?”I think the answer to this is yes and no. I don’t want him to look perfect, if that’s what you’re asking. Allen should be taking chances now in the spring and seeing what he can and can’t get away with against a defense. What window can he fit it in and what window is too small and leads to an interception?Much like Marv Levy used to treat preseason games, this is a time for experimentation, not perfection. If Allen isn’t taking deep shots now and making mistakes now Youth Frank Gore Jerseys , he’ll make them in September.Nothing is more frustrating in a preseason game of late in a blowout than when a quarterback throws a three-yard under route on 3rd and 13. Go for the sticks. Try and make something happen instead of hoping a guy breaks three tackles. This is the time to practice those lower percentage plays to get better at them.Listen to the podcast for my entire answer. The first test will be whether he practices fully Wednesday when the Jets get back to work.“That remains to be seen,” coach Todd Bowles said during a conference call Monday. “I expect him to be out there. We’ll evaluate him as he goes out there.”Bowles said Darnold took “a great number” of snaps during practice last week and was healthy enough to play against Tennessee on Sunday. But Bowles and the Jets chose to start Josh McCown because the rookie would have some rust after missing two games.Darnold strained his right foot against Miami on Nov. 4 and hasn’t played since.“He was prepared, but you’re not going to come in three days as a rookie and be fresh off your reads and not have any rust to go in a ballgame and play on Sunday after you’ve been out for two weeks,” Bowles said. “You need some time to get your timing back and everything else.“So Youth Adolphus Washington Jerseys , we’ll continue to give him reps and when I think he’s ready, he’ll play.”The Jets are 0-3 with McCown as the starter, with the 39-year-old QB throwing one TD pass and four interceptions — including one that sealed New York’s 26-22 loss to Tennessee on Sunday. Darnold still leads the NFL with 14 interceptions, despite his three-game layoff.Last week, the No. 3 overall pick said he was eager to play again, but also acknowledged he learned quite a bit from watching rather than playing. That said Adolphus Washington Jerseys Stitched , the final four games would give Darnold significant experience and give him a chance to end his first NFL season on a positive note.“I’ll just see where he is from an accuracy standpoint, a timing standpoint, (and) a rust standpoint,” Bowles said. “He’s got to see plays and I had him only throwing three (days) last week. He did get better and everything was fine, but he’ll get better even this week and then we’ll make that determination on Sunday.”

He never lived up to expectations. The Miami product was moved from left to right tackle this season after free agent Nate Solder was signed. He ended up losing that job to Chad Wheeler after two games. The Giants, who face the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, also signed kicker Marshall Koehn to their practice squad.

the AFC title game and the Kansas City Chiefs Ja'Whaun Bentley Jersey , NFL Films has taken one final look back at the divisional round recently: the league’s video production company released its mic’d up clips from last weekend and one segment includes a closer look at Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman. And as had to be expected, the clip is an entertaining one:Whether it is Edelman telling Los Angeles Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn that he is a fan of him or quoting Lionel Richie on the sideline, the clip shows the 32-year old to be his usual outspoken and up-eat self. Of course, he had every reason to feel good about his Sunday afternoon: Edelman finished the game with nine receptions for 151 yards while his team blew out the Chargers 41-28 to punch its ticket to the AFC title game for an eighth straight year. The Patriots themselves also published a mic’d up clip this week:The 4-minute video includes some interesting conversations from the Patriots’ sideline Womens Phillip Dorsett Jersey , including quarterback Tom Brady telling his offensive teammates that the Chargers are not able to stop them. Equally interesting is seeing head coach Bill Belichick talk to the pass rushers about putting pressure on Philip Rivers, reiterating that they cannot to hit the L.A. quarterback in the head for what would be a 15-yard penalty. The New England Patriots were back on the practice fields today continuing their preparation for the upcoming meeting with the Chicago Bears. Once more, the Patriots had solid but not perfect attendance – all while 10 players remain limited in action. Let’s take a closer look at them in today’s injury report:Did not participateWhile there are no changes to the Patriots’ list of absentees – starting right tackle Marcus Cannon is still out due to a concussion and appears to be headed for inactivity on Sunday –, the Bears added another player to their list of no-shows: Allen Robinson II Youth Dont’a Hightower Jersey , the team’s second leading pass catcher, missed today’s practice after being limited yesterday. Star pass rusher Khalil Mack also remains out.Limited participationThe Patriots’ list of limited players also remains unchanged when compared to yesterday as 10 players were not able to practice fully today. However, at least four of them should be expected to play on Sunday without any limitations: Rob Gronkowski, Josh Gordon Dont’a Hightower Jersey Stitched , Sony Michel and Eric Rowe were listed as limited all of last week – and all four of them were ultimately able to suit up against the Kansas City Chiefs. Expect the same this week, with Rowe potentially seeing an increase in playing time.Chicago, on the other hand, did have a change to its limited list: After missing the last three games due to a hamstring issue Youth Donald Trump Jerseys , backup defensive back and special teamer Marcus Cooper returned to the field today.

Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsRight now there are a ton of rumors out there about the 2019 NFL Draft. Many of them are false Nathan Shepherd Jerseys 2019 , but sometimes we can learn things by piecing together separate reports. The Jets have made it clear they would be interested in moving back. Washington needs a quarterback, which makes that team a trade up candidate. This is worth watching.A lot of the background work on trades is done before the Draft. Teams reach out across the league to make it clear they are either interested in trading up or trading down. They can work out some broad parameters. This doesn’t mean a deal gets done. Take this case. When the Jets get on the clock White Chris Herndon Jerseys , the quarterback Washington wants might be gone. A player the Jets didn’t expect to fall might be there for them (Nick Bosa?). These things might make one side lose interest in a trade. But it’s really difficult to wing a trade once a team is on the clock. The two sides have ten minutes to finalize a trade. So it makes sense to get a lot of the groundwork done beforehand. What could the Jets expect in exchange for the third pick? Washington owns the 15th overall selection.Using the Pro Football Reference Trade Finder, I identified three instances since 2000 where a team with a top three pick traded out of the top ten.2000 San Francisco trades with WashingtonWashington got: 3rd overall pickSan Francisco got: 12th overall pick; 24th overall pick; Fourth Round Pick (119); Fifth Round Pick (154)2013 Oakland trades with MiamiMiami got: 3rd overall pickOakland got: 12th overall pick; Second Round Pick (42)2016 Tennessee trades with Los Angeles RamsLos Angeles got: 1st overall pick; Fourth Round Pick (113); Sixth Round Pick (177)Tennessee got: 15th overall pick; Future First Round Pick; Two Second Round Picks (43 and 45); Third Round Pick (76); Future Third Round Pick............So there’s a wide variety based on this deal. The boom scenario would be the bounty of picks like the Titans got. Worst case scenario would be simply adding a second round pick. The middle ground would be adding an additional first rounder for the price of moving down. So with my back of the envelope math Chris Herndon Jerseys 2019 , I’ll say the Jets getting proper value would be contingent on acquiring Washington’s 2020 first round pick. Anything more would be excellent negotiating. Getting less would be an underwhelming haul.Obligatory reminder that Sam Darnold’s career is not over after one bad game I don’t generally like writing articles like this because there is a degree of cherry picking involved. It doesn’t necessarily follow that Sam Darnold will have the same career trajectory as any of the players I am about to mention. With that said, I wanted to share the following performances of some other quarterbacks in case you were wondering whether a bad early game had any correlation with a successful career.Tom Brady’s Second Career Start: 12/24; 86 yards; 0 TD; 0 INT; 58.7 passer ratingPeyton Manning’s Second 55.9 passer ratingCall me crazy White Trenton Cannon Jerseys , but we might want to give Sam Darnold a little more than one bad game before writing him off.

Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants is now the NFL's

highest-paid wide receiver. The Giants on Monday announced they have signed Beckham to a five-year contract extension that will keep the three-time Pro Bowler with the franchise for another six seasons."We got him until he's 108 Warren Sapp Jersey ," general manager Dave Gettleman quipped. "I never worried whether or not we would get it done. I'm pleased, because the litmus test for a contract is that neither side is ticked off before the ink can dry, and neither side should be ticked off. It's a very fair deal."The signing comes less than two weeks before the season opener against Jacksonville on Sept. 9 at MetLife Stadium. While terms were not disclosed, the deal with the 25-year-old, 2014 first-rounder is worth about $95 million with $65 million guaranteed.Beckham's $19 million average salary would top the $17 million earned by Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers. His $95 million deal also tops the $82.5 million deal receiver Mike Evans has with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.Beckham, who missed most of last season with a broken left ankle, was scheduled to make $8.4 million in the final year of his rookie contract.Beckham had said early in training camp that he was taking a risk practicing without a new contract. It paid off."Honestly, I don't even know how to explain it," Beckham said in a statement. "I don't know if it's a relief, I don't know — it's a combination of everything. You've worked all your life to get to this point and it's finally here."Beckham felt getting a new deal would be just a matter of time."I knew that it would get done, it just was a matter of when and I'm just so happy that it is finally done now," he said.In his first four seasons Ali Marpet Jersey , Beckham has caught 313 passes for 4,424 yards and 38 touchdowns.Beckham has not played in any of the Giants' three preseason games as new coach Pat Shurmur has taken a very cautious approach with the catalyst to his offense coming off his first major professional injury. It is unlikely that he will play in the preseason finale on Thursday against the New England Patriots so his first game action since being hurt on Oct. 8 will be against the Jaguars at home on Sept. 9.A lot has been written about Beckham's contract situation since the end of last season. There were reports the Giants were involved in trade talks with the Rams and many wondered whether co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch wanted to spend a lot of money on a player who also created some disturbing news off the field.Beckham annoyed many by going to Florida for a boat outing with teammates before a playoff game after the 2016 regular season. He then played poorly in a one-sided loss to the Packers. His reputation took another hit when a video was posted with him in a room where a hand-rolled cigarette was visible. A woman next to him had unidentified white powder on a nearby table.During this past offseason, Beckham seemed to mature. He worked hard to overcome his injury, stayed out of trouble and developed a good relationship with Shurmur. He also said all the right things when asked about getting a new contract.Beckham's agent Zeke Sandhu spoke with assistant general manager Kevin Abrams for almost two hours on the patio overlooking the field during a practice earlier this month. Buccaneers cornerback Vernon Hargreaves was feeling good on a couple of fronts as the team got its offseason workouts underway on Monday.Hargreaves tore the labrum in his shoulder in the first game of the 2018 season and spent the rest of the year on injured reserve after having surgery to repair the damage. He said on Monday that he’s back to 100 percent and looking forward to his role in the scheme defensive coordinator Todd Bowles is putting together.Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said that the plan is to play Hargreaves as an outside cornerback after he spent the 2017 and brief 2018 campaigns playing out of the slot. Hargreaves said that’s where he wants to play and that he is inspired by the confidence that Arians shows in his ability.“I want to play for him now, this is where I want to be,” Hargreaves said, via PewterReport.com. “This is always where I wanted to be, but when the head guy puts himself on the line for you, it kind of does something for you. I don’t really know how to explain it but it gives you a good feeling on the inside. It makes you want to play.”Hargreaves started every game as a rookie, but injuries have kept him out of 22 games over the last two seasons. Showing that he’s capable of staying healthy and handling the outside cornerback responsibilities would put him on track for a successful 2019 season.

inside NFL territory K'Waun Williams Jersey , forcing the league and its 32 teams to brace for a defensive stand. An arbitrator is sending Kaepernick's grievance with the NFL to trial, denying the league's request to throw out the quarterback's claims that owners conspired to keep him out of the league because of his protests of social injustice.Kaepernick's lawyer Mark Geragos tweeted a picture Thursday of a ruling by arbitrator Stephen B. Burbank. The NFL declined a request for comment.Kaepernick, who led the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance and NFC championship game in consecutive seasons, argues that owners have colluded to keep him off any NFL roster since he hit free agency in 2017.Burbank's decision means there was sufficient evidence of collusion to keep Kaepernick's drive going. Now some owners, coaches and team executives will be called to testify during the season, a situation the league hoped to avoid.Kaepernick began a wave of protests by NFL players two seasons ago, kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial inequality. The protests have grown into one of the most polarizing issues in sports, with President Donald Trump loudly urging the league to suspend or fire players who demonstrate during the anthem.Kaepernick contends the owners violated their collective bargaining agreement with players by conspiring to keep him off teams. The case hinges on whether owners worked together rather than decided individually to not sign Kaepernick.A similar grievance is still pending by unsigned safety Eric Reid, who played with Kaepernick in San Francisco and joined in the protests.Meanwhile, the league and players union still haven't resolved whether players will be punished this season if they choose to kneel or demonstrate during the national anthem.Owners approved a policy requiring players to stand if they are on the sideline during the national anthem, allowing them to stay off the field if they wish. But the league and union put that on hold after the Miami Dolphins faced backlash for classifying the protests as conduct potentially detrimental to the team — putting players at risk of fines or suspensions. SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The most glaring need for the San Francisco 49ers this offseason was clear after the defense set records for futility with just seven takeaways and two interceptions last season. The team’s first two big moves of the new league year were made to address that deficiency with the additions of an edge rusher in Dee Ford, who has a propensity for strip sacks, and a speedy linebacker in Kwon Alexander, who has a knack for finding the ball.“That wasn’t fun to watch,” general manager John Lynch said Thursday. “It is something we have to live with. It’s a reality, and we needed to change that. These are the type of players that we believe can reverse that trend. Starting with Kwon. He’s always around the ball. There’s so many things to like Womens Arik Armstead Jersey , but that is definitely something that jumps. And then Dee, he has a knack for getting the ball out. Eight forced fumbles last year, and that first step is lethal. We think that can help our entire team get that virus going, where we’re taking away the ball on a regular basis.”The 49ers paid a big price for these additions, trading a 2020 second-round pick to Kansas City to acquire Ford and then giving him a five-year, $87.5 million contract, and signing Alexander to a four-year deal worth $54 million.Ford had a career-high 13 sacks last season and led the NFL with seven forced fumbles. He also led all edge rushers with 84 total quarterback pressures, according to Pro Football Focus, making him exactly the kind of playmaker the 49ers lacked on defense this past season.“It’s really a mindset and muscle memory,” Ford said of forcing turnovers. “It’s not really an intricate skill to have. It’s just a mindset. Most guys get to the quarterback and just want to take him down. Just switch the mentality and knock the ball out. You have to work it. Everything happens so fast so it needs to be muscle memory to go for the ball.”The 49ers haven’t had an edge rusher reach double digits in sacks since Aldon Smith had 19 1/2 in 2012 and have the fifth-fewest overall sacks in the NFL the past six seasons. DeForest Buckner led the team with 12 sacks this past season, mostly from an interior spot.Alexander, coming off a torn ACL, has six career interceptions, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and seven sacks in 46 games.“Speed and violence affect the quarterback and make people do stupid things before they want to,” coach Kyle Shanahan said. “Both of these guys have a lot of speed, and they both play very violent.”With Ford slated to start at defensive end in the Leo position on San Francisco’s defense http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-joe-montana-jersey , the strategy in the draft could be altered. The Niners have the second overall pick and could be in position to take Ohio State’s Nick Bosa, who is projected to play the same role. Now they could be in position to move down in the draft or look at a rush linebacker like Josh Allen.“We’re evaluating everyone,” Lynch said. “Having Dee just makes us a better football team, and the draft’s something separate. Yes, those two do interact at some point, but we’ll see. We’re going to go out there and look. At No. 2, you want to have a great football player. That’s what we’re looking for and we’ll see where it ends up.”The 49ers also signed cornerback Jason Verrett to a one-year deal, receiver Jordan Matthews to a one-year contract, linebacker David Mayo to a two-year contract, and agreed on a one-year deal to bring back safety Antone Exum. San Francisco also released linebacker Brock Coyle, who announced he will retire after suffering a back injury last season.Verrett is a 2014 first-round pick by the Chargers and made the Pro Bowl in 2015. But he has played only five games the past three seasons after suffering knee injuries in 2016 and ’17 and then tearing his Achilles tendon during a conditioning test on the first day of training camp last year.Verrett will compete with 2017 third-round pick Ahkello Witherspoon and 2018 third-rounder Tarvarius Moore for the starting spot across from Richard Sherman.“It’s a smile now, cry later type of thing for me,” Verrett said of his run of injuries. “It was a lot of dark moments dealing with the injuries, but I came out of the tunnel and I’m ready to get things rolling.”Matthews is a cousin of former 49ers great Jerry Rice and has always wanted to play for the team. He was a second-round pick by Philadelphia in 2014 and has 270 catches for 3,255 yards and 22 TDs in five seasons with the Eagles and Buffalo.Matthews averaged 75 catches a year his first three seasons before being slowed by injuries in 2017 with the Bills and a lack of opportunities last season with the Eagles after returning to Philadelphia.Mayo was a special teams standout for Carolina who offers depth at inside linebacker for San Francisco.Exum spent the past two seasons with the 49ers and started seven games at safety in 2018.

After making a tackle, Gaines immediately signaled to the sideline and was eventually carted to the locker room. To make matters worse Ramon Humber Jerseys 2019 , Gaines was starting at nickel cornerbback because rookie Taron Johnson was already sidelined with his own shoulder injury. Buffalo is now down to just three healthy cornerbacks on the field.Replacing Gaines at slow corner is safety Rafael Bush, typically listed as Buffalo’s “Big Nickel”. He’s used to covering tight ends and running backs, not necessarily wide receivers.Buffalo released cornerback Ryan Carter this week and brought him back to the practice squad. Tre’Davious White has been shadowing the top receiver against the Chargers with Vontae Davis on the other side. Lafayette Pitts is seeing more time than he probably should be as the team’s depth cornerback. (AP) — The Buffalo Bills have signed quarterback Matt Barkley to a two-year contract extension, securing what’s been an unsettled backup spot behind rookie Josh Allen. The signing announced Friday is a reflection of how Barkley performed in winning his one start this season and his role in helping mentor Allen. Coach Sean McDermott this week lauded Barkley for his support of Allen. On the field, Barkley went 15 of 25 for 232 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-10 win over the New York Jets on Nov. 11. Barkley was Buffalo’s third starter in three consecutive games Jerry Hughes Jerseys 2019 , with Allen missing four games with a sprained right throwing elbow.Buffalo had signed Barkley only 10 days earlier after veteran backup Derek Anderson sustained a concussion. The 28-year-old is completing his sixth NFL season since Philadelphia drafted him in the fourth round in 2013 draft out of Southern California.Barkley has a 2-5 career record. He spent this offseason with Cincinnati before being cut by the Bengals in September after hurting his knee in a preseason game.

(AP) — Dave Gettleman isn’t ready to make a decision on Eli Manning’s future as the quarterback of the New York Giants. The general manager and the two-time Super Bowl MVP had a no-holds barred conversion about Manning’s future Monday after the team missed the playoffs for the sixth time in seven seasons.Gettleman would not say Wednesday whether the quarterback, who will turn 38 on Thursday, would be back for a 16th season.Manning’s $23 million salary cap hit will play a role in the decision, but the bottom line is Gettleman will do what is in the best interests of the Giants (5-11).“He came in and he wanted to talk,” Gettleman said of the conversation. “I have a crazy idea that if a guy asks me questions, I’m going to be honest with him. He wasn’t called to the principal’s office. He came to see me.”Manning, who has a year left on an $84 million contract, threw for 4,299 yards, 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this past season despite being sacked a career-high 47 times. His completion percentage (66) was the highest of his career.“Once we got rolling, once everybody got comfortable with the offense, if you’re going to look at stats, it wasn’t too shabby what (he) did Youth Christopher Slayton Jersey ,” Gettleman said of Manning. “He still can make the NFL throws, you know what I’m saying? He’s still got it.”There is no doubt Gettleman respects Manning, who he called a “mensch.” It’s a Yiddish word meaning “a person of integrity and honor.”“There’s no deviousness, there’s no duplicitousness, none of that stuff. He’s a mensch. Someday, I hope to be a mensch,” Gettleman said. The question is whether Manning is the best choice to lead the Giants to victory and Gettleman plans to watch plenty of videotape and talk to his coaches and scouting staff in coming to a decision. In a news conference that lasted more than 30 minutes, Gettleman said he liked the direction the Giants are headed. The dissention-ridden locker room from last season (3-13) was cleaned out, leaving only 13 players on the final roster.Among other topics Gettleman touched on:— He said the offense overcame early season woes to lead the NFC East in scoring, but the defensive play needed to improve.— Gettleman said the Giants didn’t re-sign receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to a five-year, $90 million before the season to trade him.— A recent survivor of a bout with cancer, Gettleman was certain he made the right choice drafting running back Saquon Barkley with the second pick overall instead of taking a young quarterback.— The veteran general manager also was happy with Pat Shurmur’s first season as coach, particularly after a 1-7 start.“We’re trying to build sustained success Womens Christopher Slayton Jersey ,” said Gettleman, who replaced the fired Jerry Reese last December. “That takes brutal honesty and that takes tough decisions.”— Gettleman would not comment on the status of cornerback Janoris Jenkins and linebacker Olivier Vernon. Both are under contract but each could be a salary cap casualty.“We’re going to look at film, we’re going to evaluate everything. Everything is on the table for us,” Gettleman said.— Looking forward to this year’s draft, Gettleman has no intention of forcing a pick, such as taking a quarterback early because of Manning’s age or a team need.“You do that, you’re going to make a mistake, you’re going to screw it up,” he said.Manning’s father, Archie, recently said his son can’t go through another losing season. Gettleman found it humorous when asked it he could guarantee a winning team next season.“Really and truly, can anybody guarantee anything like that? Really?” he said. “All you Yankee fans thought you were going to win 162 games this year (laughter). I knew better. All kidding aside, you can’t guarantee that. There’s no way. I wouldn’t guarantee that to anybody.”Gettleman believes he heads into this offseason with a better understanding of what Shurmur and his coaches need in terms of players. While the offense was his focus heading into the offseason last year Color Rush Julian Love Jersey , the defense will occupy that spot now.Despite not making the playoffs, Gettleman does not see this as a rebuilding season. He actually hates the word.“You just keep going, you just keep building. It’s really what we’re doing here,” Gettleman said. “We’re doing our best to accumulate the talent that fits our schemes, and that understands how to play the game, and hates to lose. That’s what it’s really all about, and we’re going to continue to do this and get it right. Three months removed from ending their season in the best possible fashion, but later than 30 other teams, the world champions are back at work: the 2019 campaign and its offseason workout program are already in full swing.“We’re used to it by now, to have a little shorter break,” said linebacker Kyle Van Noy about the Patriots’ workout rhythm following another playoff run. Van Noy spoke to reporters yesterday about getting the necessary work in at this time of the year and laying the foundation for the next challenge ahead: becoming the first team to defend its title since the Patriots did it after their victory in Super Bowl 38, fifteen years ago.Van Noy is one of the most experienced players on a New England defense that is coming off a Super Bowl performance for the ages. However Youth Steve Grogan Jerseys , he is quick to point out that the team is aware that the page needs to be turned to a new season rather quickly. “We’re definitely not satisfied,” he said. “If you guys saw how we’re working right now you’d be pretty impressed with the grit and the tenacity we’re showing this offseason already.”“We have a lot of guys here that are motivated for greatness — not just with the coach but with the players,” the 28-year-old continued. “In every room you have a veteran like a [Devin] McCourty and a [Patrick] Chung and a [Dont’a] Hightower. Those guys are motivated, and so are the young guys: the young guys are ready to prove they can play, that goes offensively and defensively. And you got veteran guys that hold that standard and they do a really good job.”One of the veteran guys is Van Noy himself: in his third offseason with the Patriots since they acquired him via trade from the Detroit Lions, he knows the routine and what needs to be done to properly prepare for the grind that lies ahead. “I had the time of my life [after the Patriots’ Super Bowl win], but now I’m focused already on another season and I want to win again Steve Grogan Jerseys Stitched ,” he said when speaking about looking forward at this point in time. For him personally, this means following the Patriots’ old mantra: do your job — something Van Noy has done ever since his arrival in New England. It has allowed him to become a versatile mainstay of the Patriots defense, and playmaker at the linebacker position. “At the end of the day, I’m just trying to win and do my part and do whatever is asked. Whether it’s to rush, cover, do it all: just help out the defense the best as possible,” he noted.Of course Youth John Hannah Jerseys , the time away from football following the Super Bowl certainly helped the defense as well as it sets its sights on the 2019 season. “I think everyone is rejuvenated,” said Van Noy. “We’re ready for a new challenge.”

Downing-USA TODAY SportsFrom ‘Charm City’ to Nebraska to Colorado and on to Florida with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 2019 free-agent pick-up Shaq Barrett is ready for his opportunity to emerge from the mile-high shadows he was playing under with the Denver Broncos. We all heard from Barrett after the first day of the team’s organized training activities (OTAs) as he spoke to the media along with wide receiver Mike Evans and cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III. But, on the Locked On Bucs Podcast this week, Barrett got a little more in-depth with his decision to sign with Tampa Bay and about life and football in general.During the interview, the former Broncos linebacker revealed he and his agents had considered the Cincinnati Bengals and Washington Redskins as potential landing spots for him in 2019 before ultimately deciding to play in Tampa Bay. The NFC South is arguably the toughest division in the NFL these days, and when asked about facing the teams in his new division Barret said, “...I’m just looking forward to playing. They all pass a lot, so I’m looking forward to getting the opportunity to get a lot of sacks.”Sacks are an area the Buccaneers will certainly hope to get better at in the coming season. Even though the team improved on their 2018 sack totals and had their first double-digit sack man in Jason Pierre-Paul since Simeon Rice was playing in Ray-Jay, they still finished 19th in the league in the category.Meanwhile, in 2018, the Denver Broncos tallied 44 sacks and finished eighth in the league. Barrett contributed three to the cause with limited play coming in behind Von Miller and Bradley Chubb on the depth chart. This year though, he’s looking to step out and step up, “I’m confident in my skill and my ability and I just got the attitude that I can’t be denied this year. This is my time to finally show everybody, show myself that I can do it and I could be the guy. And I’m just ready to take that opportunity.”In fact, the opportunity to fight for a starting job is one of the biggest factors which lured Barrett to the Bucs. That and the fact he already has a Buccaneers tattoo, a reminder of his days playing youth football in Baltimore.Fans of the team have been mostly positive about the signing and Broncos fans have been sad to see him leaving. The fact is though, Bucs fans really don’t know what to expect. So we asked him how he would describe himself to the fans.“I’m a playmaker. I’m going to make plays. It don’t matter when it is in a game. I’m making plays, first quarter, second quarter, third quarter, fourth quarter”, is what Barrett said in response.Check out the full conversation with Shaquil Barrett on the Locked On Bucs Podcast Sean Bunting Jersey , and stay here with us at Bucs Nation for even more news, notes and more on your Tampa Bay Buccaneers! TAMPA, Fla. We can’t change who we are.”Filling in for suspended quarterback Jameis Winston, Fitzpatrick completed 27 of 33 passes for 402 yards and has the suddenly explosive Bucs off to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2010.Jackson scored on a 75-yard reception on the first play of the game, giving him three TDs in two games after having three all last season.O.J. Howard also had a 75-yard TD catch in the first half for Tampa Bay, which stunned New Orleans 48-40 on the road in its season opener.“I think we just developed a lot of confidence in the offseason and through training camp with how we worked, and the way things were going, and the rapport with the guys,” the 35-year-old Fitzpatrick said. “I think that confidence has carried over into the season.”Nick Foles threw for 334 yards for the Eagles (1-1), who rallied from a 20-point, third-quarter deficit. The Super Bowl MVP’s 2-yard TD pass to Nelson Agholor on fourth down trimmed Tampa Bay’s lead to 27-21 with 2:46 remaining. Fitzpatrick didn’t give the Eagles’ injury-decimated offense a chance to finish the comeback.“We didn’t win every single game last year. I think people forget that,” Foles said, trying to put the loss in perspective. “There’s a lot of expectations for us, but we can’t put that kind of pressure on ourselves.”Fitzpatrick, a 14-year veteran and one of four players in NFL history to throw TD passes for seven franchises, produced a couple first downs on Tampa Bay’s last possession to drain all but 19 seconds off the clock.“We had our shots.I just feel like if we had got that ball back one more time, we would havea chance to try to win it Sean Bunting Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jersey ,” Eagles tackle Jason Peters said. “But we were pinned back there with 20 seconds left and we didn’t have a lot of options.”Chris Godwin and Mike Evans had TD receptions of 8 and 4 yards, respectively, for the Bucs. Jackson, who had two TD receptions before leaving the season opener with a concussion, finished with four catches for 129 yards. The Eagles opened the season with Foles throwing for just 117 yards in an 18-12 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. They drove 78 yards in 13 plays to pull even with Tampa Bay in the second quarter, only to watch Howard turn a short pass into another long TD by eluding two defenders and turning up the left sideline. Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby was unable to chase down the 6-foot-6, 251-pound tight end.Foles finished 35 of 48 with no interceptions. Corey Clement scored on a 15-yard run in the first half, and Jay Ajayi’s 2-yard TD run began Philadelphia’s rally from a 27-7 deficit.FITZMAGICFitzpatrick threw for a career-best 417 yards and four TDs in the season opener. He also ran for a touchdown against the Saints, meaning he’s thrown for 819 yards and accounted for nine TDs in two weeks. He improved to 4-1 as a starter in two seasons with the Bucs.TOUGH DAYPhiladelphia’s defense, coming off sacking Matt Ryan four times and holding the Falcons quarterback to his lowest completion percentage in seven years, was torched for 271 yards passing and three touchdowns in the first half alone.Fletcher Cox and Nigel Bradham had sacks Sunday. The Eagles also forced two turnovers, including a second-half fumble that helped them stay in the game.INJURIESEagles: The Eagles were already without receiver Alshon Jeffery and running back Darren Sproles, and Foles’ job got tougher when running back Jay Ajayi (back), receiver Mike Wallace (ankle) and tackle Jason Peters (quad) left in the first half. Ajayi returned at the start of the second half, finishing with 23 yards rushing on seven carries.Buccaneers: With Brent Grimes (groin) missing his second straight game and Vernon Hargreaves III (shoulder) on injured reserve after getting hurt at New Orleans, the Bucs played without both starting cornerbacks. Defensive tackle Beau Allen (foot) and safety Chris Conte (knee) left the game in the second half.FAST STARTThe Bucs, who haven’t made the playoffs since 2007, are 2-0 for only the second time in 13 years. They also won their first two on the way to a 10-6 finish under former coach Raheem Morris in 2010.UP NEXTEagles: Host Indianapolis next Sunday.Buccaneers: Pittsburgh at home next Monday night, final game of Winston’s suspension.

Today we take a closer look at the reliable slot

receiver and potential day 3 selection Hunter Renfrow of Clemson and see if he is a fit for the 49ers."Greetings Faithful! We are back with another scouting report! The final days leading up to the 2019 NFL Draft have arrived http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-deion-sanders-jersey , and with it are countless amounts of rumors, mock drafts, and quotes from teams’ front offices and coaches. If your plate isn’t full enough, we even have plenty of quotes from players both active and retired on what their respective teams should do as far as selecting players.Photo by Sean M. Haffey/Getty ImagesToday, our focus an attention turns to the receiving position. The San Francisco 49ers are most likely going to take a receiver, perhaps even two before the conclusion of the draft. There is strong belief that the 49ers will select a receiver on day two of the NFL Draft. We have discussed and analyzed multiple receivers that the team can select on day two. Today, we are going to talk about a receiver the team can have on day three. His name is Hunter Renfrow. Just like Adam Humphries before him, Renfrow has the potential to be the next great Clemson slot receiver to find success at the pro level. Let’s learn about how the once walk-on turned two-time national champion can help the 49ers.Combine Results:40 Time: 4.59Bench Press: 7 RepsVertical Jump: 35.0”Broad Jump: 116.0”3 Cone Drill: 6.8020 Yard Shuttle: 4.1960 Yard Shuttle: 11.39Measurables:Height: 5’10”Weight: 184 lbs.Hands: 7 7/8”Arms: 29 1/8”Summary:From walk-on to national title clinching touchdown reception, Hunter Renfrow seems to have done it all in his four seasons for the Clemson Tigers. While names like Trevor Lawrence, Tee Higgins, and Travis Etienne receive the bulk of the national media attention on offense, Hunter Renfrow has slowly but surely put together a truly remarkable collegiate career. Renfrow is as reliable as they come at the receiver position with strong, reliable hands, rarely dropping a pass thrown in his direction. On multiple occasions Renfrow moved the chains for the Tigers on third down conversions, particularly in third and short situations. While Renfrow is not explosive or a burner, Renfrow does have quick feet and initial burst to create separation from defenders in zone and man to man coverage schemes. Has great bend, and is one of the best low-ball receivers in the nation. Due to his lack of size, there is a limit to his catch radius and window the quarterback has available to him. However, on multiple occasions Renfrow has mad acrobatic receptions over the top.Renfrow does have a limited route-tree. Renfrow primarily lined up in the slot, which is his natural position, and where he will find the most success at the next level. Performs his best in the short and intermediate levels on the field. Was almost never asked to run deep in Clemson’s system, however when he did, he worked to get his hands on the football even in tight coverage as shown below.Vision and awareness with the ball in his possession are outstanding. Will shift and change direction, and often finds additional yards after the reception. Below, the entire South Carolina defense learns the hard way of trying to stop Renfrow after the reception.Overall, Renfrow has natural instincts when the ball is in his possession. His size and frame are going to be the biggest concern scouts and evaluators have. He is not at all a receiver who has size or plays physical. However, Renfrow plays to the level of his competition. Played his best football against Alabama in all national title games (2015, 2016, 2018) against perhaps the best defense in the nation. As far as clutch player goes, Renfrow might go down as one of the best in Clemson football history. He is also responsible for catching the biggest touchdown in Clemson history (See 2nd video below). His size and frame are a concern. However, Renfrow is a receiver who catches everything throw his way, who can shift and change direction to evade defenders, and in the right system can be dangerous at the first and second levels on the field. Renfrow can potentially be a late-round gem on the third day of the NFL Draft. Is Hunter Renfrow a fit for the 49ers?Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty ImagesKyle Shanahan is the type of coach and offensive mind that can take essentially any receiver and put them in a position to get open and succeed at all three levels on the field. The head coach alone makes Renfrow and almost any receiver in this draft a fit in an offense that desperately needs multiple playmakers. Yes, the team has Trent Taylor, however after back injuries limited him in 2018 it might not hurt the team to invest in depth at the slot position. While Renfrow is undersized http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-kyle-juszczyk-jersey , what you are getting is a receiver who doesn’t drop the football, can move the chains, and can rise to the occasion when the lights are shinning their brightest. If the team is looking to address a day three pick at the position whether they use a day two pick or not, Hunter Renfrow can be a steal and late round gem for the team that selects him. Hunter Renfrow’s value is somewhere between the fifth and sixth rounds of the NFL Draft. What are YOUR thoughts on Hunter Renfrow? If the 49ers are looking to invest a day three pick in a receiver is Renfrow a good fit for the team? Please share in the comments below! SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — After a four-turnover performance last week, San Francisco 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard faces quite a platform in a try for redemption.Beathard will lead his team into Lambeau Field for Monday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers, a nationally televised matchup that represents the biggest stage on which Beathard will have started an NFL game. He’ll face the No. 2 pass defense in the league while being supported by a banged-up offensive line and an injury-depleted receiving corps. The 49ers also figure to be without top running back Matt Breida, doubtful because of a badly sprained ankle.Factor in a raucous and inhospitable Lambeau crowd, and the odds appear stacked against San Francisco (1-4), which lost at home last week to the previously winless Arizona Cardinals.Beathard prefers to view it as an opportunity.“It’s definitely something to look forward to,” Beathard said. “A Monday night game, in Lambeau. Historic stadium, playing a great team. It’s everything you ask for.”A second-year quarterback out of Iowa, Beathard has made two starts in place of the injured Jimmy Garoppolo, who tore the ACL in his left knee Sept. 23 against Kansas City and is out for the season.Beathard showed promise in his first start, a 29-27 road defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers, completing 23 of 37 passes for 298 yards, despite absorbing some big hits in and out of the pocket. But in last week’s 28-18 loss to the Cardinals, Beathard was intercepted twice and lost two fumbles, one of them returned for a touchdown. That offset his two touchdown passes and career-high 349 yards through the air.Overall in two starts, Beathard has completed 57 of 91 passes (62.6 percent) for 647 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions.Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy knows the challenge a young quarterback faces in trying to fill the shoes of an injured starter. Last season, Brett Hundley endured a turbulent ride for the Packers replacing two-time league MVP Aaron Rodgers, who broke his collarbone.“I think the biggest thing with a backup quarterback and especially when he’s young — going through it last year — is his ability to keep the offense playingto the full menu of the game plan,” McCarthy said. “You look at their production and you have to say C.J. definitely does that. That’s a compliment to him but also a compliment to their coaching staff for having the young man ready.”San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan wants Beathard to show better pocket awareness, sensing where the pass rush is coming from and protecting the ball. Both of Beathard’s fumbles Sunday came on strip-sacks, and Green Bay (2-2-1) enters this weekend ranked fifth in the NFL with 16 sacks. But Beathard could benefit from better health among his offensive teammates.Left tackle Joe Staley and center Weston Richburg have been playing through knee injuries. Both missed Thursday’s practice, as did Breida, and receivers Pierre Garcon (shoulder, knee) and Trent Taylor (back). Rookie receiver Dante Pettis, the team’s best punt returner, will miss his second consecutive game with a knee injury. There was a bit of encouraging news Thursday in that receiver Marquise Goodwin — the 49ers’ best downfield threat and who starts opposite Garcon — practiced without restrictions after being limited most of the season with quadriceps and hamstring issues.Beathard was asked about matching up against Rodgers. He spoke glowingly of Rodgers, who is hobbled by a knee injury but remains a master at dissecting opposing defenses.“He’s just a baller,” Beathard said. “He’s got the quickest release, the craziest arm I’ve ever seen. It just looks like he’s throwing a Nerf ball out there.”

Oliver got too close to Josh Allen on Monday and the second-year quarterback banged his throwing hand into Oliver’s helmet.Oliver played his way into the starting lineup and it’s hard to see him leave it anytime soon unless it’s to give Bodine, Allen, and company a break from the relentless beatings.Passing game back on MondayAfter poor performances the last few days, Josh Allen was accurate and decisive on Monday. His connection with John Brown was back, and the pair found each other in multiple areas of the field. Allen found Andre Roberts in the back of the end zone for a 17-year touchdown after a scramble to buy time to end practice and his arm strength was on full display with the throw. We didn’t expect Allen’s development to be a straight line up, but it’s good to see it trending back that way after a couple down days.Odds and endsIke Boettger was the second-team center with Bodine taking first-team reps. Still, they both have a long way to go to crack the roster.Buffalo practiced the end-of-game multi-lateral play during Monday’s practice. What can Josh Allen do to secure the Buffalo Bills’ starting quarterback job? Josh Allen will be making his first start as a NFL quarterback when the Buffalo Bills take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3 exhibition action on Sunday afternoon. After solid outings with reserve offensive units in his first two preseason games, Allen’s start this weekend represents the best opportunity a Bills quarterback has had so far this summer to stake his claim for the starting job.Bills fans have spent this week wondering aloud: What does Allen need to do on Sunday to win the Week 1 starting gig? What if the best answer to that question is “nothing”?Scenario 1: “The Plan” has involved starting Allen all alongSean McDermott has the final say in whether or not the Bills end up throwing Allen into the proverbial fire and starting him straight away as he begins his NFL career. McDermott is perhaps singularly known for being a process-oriented individual; if he has a plan in place, he has come across as a coach that will stick to it.McDermott has made it clear that this preseason start against Cincinnati was premeditated, and a way for the coaches to see how Allen handles the week-long process of preparing for a pro opponent as the starter. This could be a dress rehearsal for the eventuality of him becoming the starter, or it could be a final exam, of sorts, before he’s named the Week 1 starter. It would not be surprising in the least if McDermott, as well as general manager Brandon Beane, has planned to start Allen from the moment they drafted him, despite the pre-draft rhetoric that Allen was not ready for that level of responsibility, and despite the measured pace with which they’ve scooted him up the depth chart this spring and summer. There is no better teacher than experience, and while experience can be earned just by being on a NFL team, on-field experience is far more valuable. If the Bills have seen enough to plan on starting Allen in Week 1, then all Allen needs to do against Cincinnati Jeremy Kerley Jersey , in essence, is to maintain the level of play he’s shown this preseason, without falling flat on his face.Scenario 2: “The Plan” has involved sitting Allen all alongIt also would not be surprising in the least if the McDermott and Beane have planned to sit Allen from the moment they drafted him. The Bills have a challenging slate of defenses to play against early in the regular season, and in order to keep the rookie’s confidence up and his trajectory on track, it may never have entered their mind to consider starting him until he’s experienced a few weeks of real-game preparation.More importantly, for as well as Allen has played this preseason - both in terms of in-game performance, as well as technical improvements made during practices - there are still some glaring weaknesses and inconsistencies with his overall game that opponents will key on if he’s in the lineup. If the Bills are using this preseason start as a baby step in their prep-Allen strategy, and will be rolling with either Nathan Peterman or AJ McCarron in Week 1, then Allen’s charge from Scenario 1 won’t be much different here: he’ll need to maintain (but ideally exceed) the level of play he’s shown this preseason, without exhibiting the type of regression that would torpedo his confidence right before his scheduled stretch of dates with the bench.Scenario 3: “The Competition” has been legitimate all alongThis is where the conversation starts to become more interesting, even though it fundamentally relies on the idea that McDermott and Beane somehow won’t stick with their pre-determined plan of developing Allen, which could be considered a stretch of the imagination.Let’s assume, though, that the McCarron-Peterman-Allen rotation has been a legitimate, agenda-free competition for the Week 1 starting job from the moment those three first met with Buffalo’s coaches as a group. In that scenario, Allen has a leg up, for two primary reasons: he is easily the most talented quarterback of the trio Womens Vontae Davis Jersey , and he has been the only member of the trio to consistently rise up the depth chart, whereas Peterman and Allen have primarily bobbed up and down it.If this is really a final exam for Allen - his last major test from possibly-hesitant coaches facing the reality of starting him straight away - then Allen’s to-do list expands, though perhaps not by much. I would argue that, in this vacuum, Allen needs to do two things to win the starting job:Improve on his performance against Cleveland last weekOutplay Peterman by a significant marginDeadspin wisecracks aside, Peterman has distinct advantages over Allen at the moment: he has been far more consistent this summer, and especially in preseason action; and McDermott has a lot more familiarity with him, considering that both McCarron and Allen are new to the franchise as of this spring. Adding in the fact that McCarron has missed a week-plus of throwing, and it seems obvious that if this isn’t Allen’s job to lose, it’s Peterman’s. Given how well Peterman has played so far this preseason - he has been statistically better than Allen - it might take a large step forward from Allen, and a large step backwards from Peterman, for McDermott to feel comfortable pulling the trigger. Each of the Bills’ first two preseason games have told us a lot about the Bills’ quarterback situation, both at a micro and a macro level. We’re now just a few days away from Allen’s biggest test to date. Whether you believe the Bills are in Scenario 1, Scenario 2, or Scenario 3 with their rookie quarterback, there’s no denying that Allen has a significant opportunity to make one last move before whichever Week 1 fate awaits him arrives.

The latest FanPulse numbers show that all four teams’

fanbases are more confident than they were in early January."A lot has happened since the last time all four teams in the AFC East played on the same weekend. The division champion New England Patriots went on to win their sixth Super Bowl before losing considerable talent in the offseason. The New York Jets and Miami Dolphins Brandon Bolden Jersey , meanwhile, parted ways with their head coaches and are now at different stages of a rebuilding process. The Buffalo Bills, on the other hand, were among the big spenders in free agency. All in all, a lot has been going on since the final regular season weekend of the 2018 season. Those developments now all resulted in fanbases across the division feeling substantially more confident in each team’s direction than they did back in December of last year. A look at the latest FanPulse numbers — sign up here if you also want to participate in future surveys — reflects just that:As can be seen, the majority of every AFC East fanbase is at least somewhat confident in the direction its clubs are headed towards with notable spikes over the last three months. Patriots fans, meanwhile, are only slightly more confident than they were three back in December — despite another Lombardi Trophy coming to Gillette Stadium: the team did lose some of its star players over the last month either to free agency or retirement.Seeing the numbers for the other three clubs grow that rapidly is also not that big of a surprise considering that the Bills, Jets and Dolphins all have young talent either at key positions on the field or at the head coaching spot. To find out more about how fans from across the division see their respective teams, Pats Pulpit spoke to the managing editors of its sister sites for more input and analysis of the numbers.“Bills fans see that Buffalo improved their biggest flaws from 2018 in free agency by adding a bunch of offensive linemen and a pair of wide receivers,” said Matt Warren, managing editor at Buffalo Rumblings. “They also plugged holes at cornerback as well as special teams. In a league where a lot of fans want to see action but don’t always get it in free agency, the Bills led the league in signings (but not in cash).”“Even if they don’t end up panning out, the number of players Buffalo added this offseason is pretty uncommon in the NFL,” Matt continued. Free agency also is a big part of the reason why Jets fans saw a 33% increase in fan confidence since the last FanPulse survey asking this particular question was sent out three months back — as is the development of 2018 first-round quarterback Sam Darnold, as Gang Green Nation’s John Butchko pointed out.“Much of the excitement in the Jets fan base revolves around Sam Darnold. The rookie finished and up and down rookie season with a strong December. Fans are hoping to see a leap in year two,” John told Pats Pulpit before also mentioning free agency. “The Jets were among the most active teams in free agency, upgrading at running back with Le’Veon Bell, linebacker with C.J. Mosley Womens Dont'a Hightower Jersey , and wide receiver with Jamison Crowder.”Dolphins fans, meanwhile, have a different look at their team as The Phinsider managing editor Kevin Nogle pointed out. “The Dolphins fan base realizes this is probably going to be a really ugly year for the team, but the fact that they are finally doing a full reset has the fans believing there will be a light at the end of the dark, dark, dark tunnel,” said Kevin about a team that will look substantially different at both head coach and quarterback in 2019.“Even while we see the team getting worse this offseason, shedding talent to free up salary cap space, there seems to be a plan in place, and they seem to be sticking to it,” Kevin continued. “All of the band aid solutions of the previous few regimes are being ripped off this offseason, giving hope that, with a couple of strong drafts and around $120 million in cap space next year, the Dolphins will finally end the mediocrity that has plagued the team since Dan Marino retired.”Championships are not won or lost in March and April, of course, but the excitement surrounding every team in the AFC East — albeit for different reasons — should make for an entertaining year in the division... and if only when it comes to who finishes in second place behind the Patriots, as history has taught us over the last ten years. If you are interested in participating in our FanPulse survey, please click here! ATLANTA (AP) — If you’re on the lookout for Super Bowl tickets, be prepared to fork over several thousand dollars. But if you make it through the gates http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-jonathan-jones-jersey , here’s a bit of good news for your wallet.A hot dog can be had for a couple of bucks. A slice of pizza will set you back a mere $3.Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which made waves in the sports industry by becoming the first facility to introduce so-called “fan first” pricing at its concession stands, is keeping those budget items on the menu for the biggest event in its short history — Sunday’s NFL title game between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams.“It’s what you would want if you went with your family to a sporting event,” said Scott Jenkins, the stadium’s general manager. “It’s good food, and it’s at a fair price.”So, if your stomach is growling but your bank account is light, consider a pretzel or popcorn. Like the hot dog, each of those stadium staples is just $2. For that same price, you can wash it all down with a bottle of water or a soft drink that comes with free refills. If you’re in the mood for something stronger, a domestic beer checks in at $5.“When I’ve been around, scouting out big events, the prices are high and they go higher,” Jenkins said. “We made it clear when we bid that our prices were fan first, and we’re keeping them for the Super Bowl.”The $1.5 billion stadium, which opened less than two years ago and is best known for a complex retractable roof that opens and closes like a camera lens, is also looking to make a Super splash with some of its higher-priced food items.Especially those that show off the South’s culinary heritage.A hefty order of chicken and waffles, accompanied by sorghum butter, creamy cole slaw and sweet pickles Rex Burkhead Jersey , checks in at $12. But the item likely to make the biggest splash with fans is the “C.O.S.” — the Closed On Sunday chicken sandwich. That is renowned chef Kevin Gillespie’s take on an Atlanta staple, the Chick-fil-A sandwich. While the $14 price tag might sound a bit hefty compared to some of those aforementioned budget items — and certainly to a Chick-fil-A offering — it’ll probably seem worth it when you’ve finished off a fried chicken breast (sorry, the seasoning is a closely guarded secret) lathered in spicy pickled mayonnaise and served between two honey butter buns.“We’ve taken our record-setting day, the most we’ve ever sold, and we’ve doubled that,” said Gillespie, who also runs two of metro Atlanta most acclaimed restaurants. “We’ll see if we run out again on Super Bowl Sunday.”There’s actually a Chick-fil-A stand within Mercedes-Benz Stadium, but as everyone in this part of the country certainly knows: the fast-food restaurant is closed on Sundays (hence the name of Gillespie’s creation).Yep, even on Super Bowl Sunday. That spot will be occupied by another vendor, so Gillespie has the big game’s chicken sandwich spotlight all to himself.“We feel like a lot of folks have probably read about this stuff, so we want them to have a chance to taste it,” he said. “We decided to stick with the same menu, stick with the exact same pricing, don’t turn it up just because it’s the Super Bowl. We’re pretty pumped about it. We think we’re going to have a pretty busy day on Sunday.”The Mercedes-Benz cooks also came up with several items to honor the Super Bowl teams. The “L.A. Chicharron Dog” is an homage to the team from La La Land — a hot dog covered with pinto beans, jalapenos, garlic, roasted poblano pepper strips, cotija cheese, tajin-seasoned chicharrones (essentially Womens Donald Trump Jersey , fried pork rinds) and cilantro. Not exactly for the faint of heart (or anyone with heart issues).Speaking of an angioplasty waiting to happen, the offering for the AFC champion Patriots is the “N.E. Beantown Frank,” which is covered with northern beans, maple syrup, Nueske’s bacon and green onions.“This is us playing in the kitchen,” said Matt Cooper, the executive chef at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. “Once we saw the teams that were playing in the Super Bowl, all us chefs got together and came up with some ideas for New England and LA.”His favorite?“I’m going to lean toward LA,” Cooper said. “That’s where I’m originally from.”On the drink side, there’s the PaLomA (yes, the “L” and the “A” are capitalized for obvious reasons), a libation comprised of tequila, ruby red grapefruit, soda water and a blood orange wedge. Patriot fans might prefer to opt for the New Englander — vodka, cranberry and soda water adorned with a lime wedge.Much like the teams that will be looking to claim a title on the field, Mercedes-Benz Stadium is eager to grab a prize of its own in the kitchen. The champion of Super Bowl stadium food.“We have a lot of eyes on us,” Cooper said. “It’s going to be a fun one.”
