Hard Count Episode 18-4: Le’Veon Bell Womens Jameis Winston Jersey , Vita Vea, Colin Kaepernick and Nike The pre-season is in the books, the regular season is about to start and on this coming Sunday - well, Saturday afternoon or evening really - the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will storm into New Orleans to take on the Saints! If that wasn’t drama enough, we’ve got some other things happening around the league. So let’s jump right in.OFFSIDES: Le’Veon Bell Not Returning to Steelers ApparentlySuperstar running back Le’Veon Bell has not signed his franchise tag with the Pittsburgh Steelers, has not returned to the team and apparently will not play in Week 1.His entire future is in question, with Bell firmly in the driver’s seat, kind of.This is a sensitive subject. One with three sides. Fans, Franchise and Players. For the fans, they want to see their players on the field. They pay good money to do so, and when they don’t get to see their guys for anything other than an injury it tends to ruffle the collective feathers a bit. Now, some fans are ok with Bell’s holdout. Some are not. Such is life.Bell has maintained that his pursuit of such a large purse for his services isn’t all about him, and is more about his running back brethren. Well, it seems his pursuit of securing better futures for his position-mates is about to impact the futures of his teammates and it isn’t sitting all that well for some of them.I chose this tweet for a very specific reason. As it says in the tweet itself, the comments came from the Steelers’ player representative. There has been much debate over the past few seasons - even further really - about how player contracts, suspensions, treatment, etc are handled within the league. Well, Foster is the guy chosen to represent the interests and opinions of the Steelers when it comes to discussing matters like this. It’s a leadership position, make no mistake about that. So, for him to come out in anger or disappointment as it might be, is a big deal.Bell’s ‘Robin Hood’ claims always felt a bit shallow. Sure, his receiving a bigger contract sets up future backs, but that’s kind of a residual impact felt across the board by every position. It’s not specific to this one.And if this superstar is going to seriously look out for the interests of a group of peers, it should be his teammates first. It’s hard to balance personal ambitions with teammate responsibilities. Some would argue he has no responsibility to his teammates. I would disagree. His responsibility isn’t to cave on his demands though. It’s to be clear and honest about them. If not to the media and public then to the men who suit up and share in the punishment all NFL players take in the pursuit of football immortality. It would appear he hasn’t done so. The comments coming out of Pittsburgh by his teammates speak to me more as surprised frustration than anything, and if Bell felt like his front office didn’t appreciate him, he’s really feeling unloved now.Photo by Tim Warner/Getty ImagesFALSE START: Vita Vea Not Ready For His Close-UpPro football is a drama. Who will rise and who will fall? Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out a tight end throws a touchdown pass to a back-up quarterback to win the Super Bowl despite losing the franchise quarterback and MVP candidate.Well, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are no stranger to drama. Last year it was ‘Hard Knocks’ Jordan Whitehead Jersey White , hype-mania, alphabet diets and ‘Chucky’.This year it’s suspensions, emerging young talent and the absence of their first-round draft pick, Vita Vea.James Yarcho and I discussed Vea on Thursday’s episode of the Locked on Bucs Podcast, and in it I addressed the term ‘bust’ being floated around a certain winged social media platform. For me, players who suffer career-ending or altering injuries early on don’t belong in the ‘bust’ pile. Unless the injury was pre-existing and the scouting staff or general manager just didn’t believe the medicine. Even then, it’s a bust on the general manager, not the player. Some aren’t so forgiving. First-round picks should become franchise corner stones immediately, or they suck. *spits in disgust*This thought process is as flawed as it is incorrect. It’s not to say I don’t expect Vea to come back and become a key part of the defensive front strategy. Of course I do. But folks, the man suffered an injury. He’s not lagging behind the playbook, getting busted for drug use and/or possession, beating women, etc, etc, etc. He’s hurt. Normally, this is not a voluntary situation. There’s no measurement a man can make that says: ‘Do this many reps of this exercise and you’ll never suffer this injury.’It would be cool if it did, but it doesn’t work that way. Vea isn’t one regular season game into his rookie year yet. Several players have missed more time than Vea likely will and have gone on to be just fine. Ask Odell Beckham Jr.Will Vea be a bust? He could? But is he before the second week of September in the year he was drafted because he suffered an unfortunate injury? No.Let’s slow down on the bust conversations a bit. At least until he gets to file taxes on his first-round contract first.Photo by Justin Sullivan/Getty ImagesFREE PLAY: COLIN KAEPERNICK AND NIKEAnd here we go.Name a more polarizing player in the history of the NFL outside of Colin Kaepernick. You can’t.Nike knows this, and went all in on his message. There are more wrinkles to this saga than I can even try to accurately iron out in one Bucs Nation posting. But I do have some thoughts, and will share them with those of you who choose to read them here and now.First, racism is very much alive in America. Hell, it’s alive all over the globe. I myself have experienced racism in at least four different languages and on three different continents.I don’t honestly believe racism will ever die. Just last week I was brought back to that reality when I stopped by a local business for some dinner. Let’s just say I was very quickly delivered a message that my presence was not appreciated by the patrons or the staff and owners.Fortunately, it was an experience I hadn’t encountered for quite some time. Unfortunately, it was one which mirrored some other experiences in my life. Simply because my skin tone is a few shades darker than the rest of the people there that evening. No, racism will never die. What can die is the willingness of people to act on such hate. We all have prejudices or make unfair assumptions. My own Wife won’t fly because big metal tubes shouldn’t be able to stay in the air. This hurts nothing but my vehicle lifespan and gas consumption when we go on vacation. It’s not our prejudices alone which harm. It’s the actions we choose to take based on them that deliver the damage. Which brings me to my second thought. Our country was built on standing up for your beliefs. The Bill of Rights is very clearly shaped to ensure our fellow citizens would never be forced into group thought or action, but be free to express their thoughts and beliefs as they see fit as individuals. The key, is not harming others. Violent protests of course are not a part of this. Peaceful protests, are.Whether we agree or disagree with the protest of others, as long as those protests don’t infringe on the rights Carlton Davis Jersey White , property or physical health of another, they are just. Finally, there’s Nike. If there’s one thing which can sour a message, it’s sponsorship. If you have time, watch, “POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold” by Morgan Spurlock, and you’ll see an example of what I’m talking about. The Sufferage Parade, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech are all examples of successful and impactful protests. None were sponsored.Nike and Kaepernick hid that he was getting paid by them all this time for a marketing plan which would be strategically released at the right time. An advertisement deployment which quite frankly has been dependent on the fact Kaepernick still hasn’t been signed by an NFL franchise.Outside of gifts and parties, we don’t tend to hide things we feel will go over well, now do we?The intended message is a good one. But plastering the word sacrifice onto an ad featuring an NFL quarterback who terminated his own employment and has since had a marketing strategy built around his being - and remaining - unemployed, just doesn’t fit. This fact doesn’t make the racist actions of others justified. It doesn’t make the message any less important. But it does sour the delivery a bit. Bottom line, ‘sacrifice’ was the wrong word here. Sacrifice doesn’t get paid. Sacrifice doesn’t get sponsored. Sacrifice is painful and uncomfortable.I don’t know about you, but a person’s face being plastered on a billboard with a Nike logo is not the image of sacrifice and struggle I’d expect. For fans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers it hasn’t been a very happy season up to this point. But, it doesn’t mean we can’t all enjoy a happy Thanksgiving as we sit down to eat good food with good people. At least I hope you’re sitting with good people.Of course, there is football to be seen as three games will try to keep you entertained this holiday. The Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions kick it all off with a 1230 PM EST game. Then, it’s the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys at 430 PM EST - which is perfect, because I plan on napping around then. Finally, end the day with pumpkin pie and the Atlanta Falcons matching up against the New Orleans Saints.Three divisional match-ups, and two games that project to be really really good contests.Until then, let’s have a little fun.On a bonus episode of the Locked on Bucs podcast, James Yarcho and I decided to do a little Thanksgiving day food comparison to Tampa Bay Buccaneers players of today. I know, hard-hitting stuff. But it’s Thanksgiving. So we don’t need to be too serious all the time, right? We each made our own player menu, but here’s a peak at some of the highlights.James Yarcho’s picks (JY) David Harrison’s picks (DH)TURKEY: QB, JAMEIS WINSTON (JY)Photo by Sarah Stier/Getty ImagesThe main course for this year’s Bucs menu is No. 3 himself. As the hopeful franchise quarterback of Tampa Bay’s storied franchise, the better Winston is doing, the more people are watching. Now that he’s back in the starting lineup Warren Sapp Jersey White , it gives an underlying sense of purpose to the remaining games as most Bucs fans have moved on to thinking about what might be for 2019.STUFFING: G, ALI MARPET (DH)Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty ImagesStuffing, dressing, whatever you call it, it’s delicious. And it’s super versatile. Able to accompany just about any protein you choose, Marpet can play just about any position on the offensive line you choose.MASHED POTATOES: WR, ADAM HUMPHRIES (JY)Photo by Mike Ehrmann/Getty ImagesConsistent, smooth, and always available when you need them. This describes Adam Humphries and, apparently, mashed potatoes.SWEET POTATOES: TE, O.J. HOWARD (DH)Photo by Sarah Stier/Getty ImagesWhomever first thought to throw marshmallows on top of sweet potatoes was a genius. Plain and simple. That person may just be the Teressa Bellissimo of Thanksgiving. Two things which shouldn’t go together, yet do so well.Tight ends in the NFL today typically either block really well or catch really well. Rarely do you get both of those ingredients in one. With Howard, you have just that. And this is why he was my pick for sweet potatoes.MACARONI AND CHEESE: TE, O.J. HOWARD (JY)Photo by Julio Aguilar/Getty ImagesIt’s not surprising this young Bucs tight end is potentially two dishes here as he’s shown so much versatility already in his career.Unfortunately, we’ll all have to wait until 2019 to get our next serving of the standout player after the Bucs placed him on IR this week with ahigh ankle sprain. Drake approves.CRANBERRY SAUCE: KICKERS (DH)Not one specifically. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been through so many it’s hard to pinpoint one.Well, we’re in luck. Because cranberry sauce is the embodiment of many berries combined into one dish. Thus, we have the Bucs’ kickers ever since Matt Bryant was allowed to travel north to Atlanta.Don’t get me wrong here. Sometimes they’re good, but no matter what, you don’t want to rely on this spot to make the whole thing work.PUMPKIN PIE: WR, DESEAN JACKSON (JY)Photo by Will Vragovic/Getty ImagesIf you listened to the Locked on Bucs’ reactions episode following the team’s Week 11 loss to the New York Giants, then you’ve already heard what Mr. Yarcho had to say about Jackson.Let that be your guide as to what his opinion of Thanksgiving’s most popular desert food is.BONUS FOOD - PECAN PIE: WR, CHRIS GODWIN (JY)Photo by Scott Cunningham/Getty ImagesThe discussion was a fun one, and we went so far as to allow Yarcho a bonus food so he could fit Chris Godwin in there.

SANTA CLARA Womens Tarvarius Moore Jersey , Calif. (AP) — Mike McGlinchey’s first test as an NFL tackle came against one of the league’s top pass rushers in Dallas’ DeMarcus Lawrence.Things will only get tougher this week when McGlinchey must contend with three-time former AP Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney when the 49ers travel to Houston for two days of practice against the Texans before an exhibition game on Saturday.“It’s going to be fun. It’s definitely going to be fun,” McGlinchey said. “That’s why you play in the NFL, to play against the biggest and the baddest dudes and they have three or four of them. It’s going to be pretty fun. I’m more worried about the heat monster than those guys. As long as I can stay upright and not lose 15 pounds in practice, I’ll come out a winner.”McGlinchey and the 49ers were pleased with his exhibition debut against the Cowboys when he was matched up with Lawrence — who tied for second in the NFL with 14 1/2 sacks last year — on the first drive and stayed for two more to get as much experience as possible before the start of the regular season.McGlinchey mostly held his own, although he was upset about his technique on a bull rush move by Lawrence that led to a hit on quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.“I was really happy with Mike,” coach Kyle Shanahan said. “First game for him. That’s why we left him in there a little bit longer. By no means was it perfect, but it was very easy to see that the game is not too big for him. He’s very comfortable out there. He looks like the player he looked in college when we studied him, how he’s looked in practice. He got out there and didn’t change. He’s a guy who I think gets better as the game goes on because he is talented, but he also is very smart and doesn’t get overwhelmed with things. When he does make a mistake, he usually learns from it.”The 49ers are counting on big things this season from McGlinchey after drafting him ninth overall out of Notre Dame in April and then trading last year’s starter at right tackle, Trent Brown, to New England.San Francisco immediately put McGlinchey in the starting lineup in the offseason and is grooming him to eventually take over for stalwart Joe Staley on the left side. The two have struck up an immediate friendship based in part on a shared history. Staley’s college coach at Central Michigan was Brian Kelly, who later took over at Notre Dame. Several of Kelly’s assistants coached Staley in college and used him as an example at Notre Dame.McGlinchey said that because the two approach the game in a similar way, he has peppered Staley with 20 to 30 questions each day about how to excel as a tackle in the NFL.“It’s been great,” he said. “I really can’t think of myself being any luckier than I am because I do ask a lot of questions. I don’t really leave him alone. He doesn’t ever turn me away. He doesn’t ever say shut up or anything like that so he’s there for me. He’s there to help me with anything I see.”It’s become a bit of a running joke how close the two have become the past few months with Staley calling McGlinchey his best friend and little brother.“The reason why is I see so much potential,” Staley said. “He has the absolute right mindset to succeed in the NFL. The guy is really hungry to learn every single day. He comes to meetings and asks the right questions and picks up the playbook really well. I just see all the potential he has. I think he has nothing but great things ahead in his career. I look forward to being a mentor to a younger guy and teaching him things I’ve learned and hopefully he can surpass me some day.”NOTES: The 49ers signed RB Alfred Morris to a one-year deal to add depth with Jerick McKinnon (calf) and Matt Breida (shoulder) injured. … OL Alan Knott was waived to make room on the roster. TAMPA Dante Pettis Jersey , Fla. (AP) — With six games remaining in mostly disappointing seasons for Tampa Bay and San Francisco, both struggling squads are seeking answers that will help them beyond 2018.The odds may be against either club salvaging the year with a playoff berth, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything meaningful the Buccaneers (3-7) and 49ers (2-8) can accomplish beginning Sunday at Raymond James Stadium.Tampa Bay is turning back to Jameis Winston a month after benching the 2015 No. 1 overall draft pick with hopes the fourth-year will settle a debate about whether he’s the right quarterback to lead the franchise moving forward.Meanwhile, San Francisco returns from a bye week during which coach Kyle Shanahan and his staff did some self-scouting. The second-year coach had a straight-forward message for players when the team reassembled for practice.“There’s a lot on the line,” Shanahan said. “That’s stuff that is obvious. Everyone knows that, but to state it to guys and just make people aware because you never assume that everyone knows what you’re talking about. There’s always guys you’ve got to let them know what the deal is in this league.“You come back and people might think you don’t have much to play for. You have everything to play for,” the coach added. “You have your career, you have your livelihood, you have the guys next to you and you have showing people that you want to be (with the 49ers). When you start to think of that, you think of all the challenges ahead. I’m excited to do it.”Winston is excited to have another opportunity as Tampa Bay’s starter. He sat out the first three games of the season while serving a suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, then turned the ball over 11 times in 14 quarters after getting back on the field.Ryan Fitzpatrick posted dazzling passing numbers during a 2-0 start, however the 14-year veteran has lost his past five starts and the Bucs have dropped seven of eight overall to jeopardize their chances of ending a 10-year playoff drought.“I’m just grateful that I’m back on the field,” said Winston, who replaced Fitzpatrick during the second half of last week’s 38-35 loss to the New York Giants and led four straight touchdown drives to get Tampa Bay back in the game.Coach Dirk Koetter isn’t saying if he considers the job Winston’s for the remainder of the season.“You’ve got to win. That’s all that matters in this league,” Winston said. “You can look at stats … but you’ve got to win to be up to the standard of excellence we’re held to at this position.”The 49ers lost quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a season-ending knee injury in the third week of the season. Nick Mullens, who’ll make his third straight start Sunday http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-tevin-coleman-jersey , replaced an injured C.J. Beathard three weeks ago and has gone 1-1 while throwing for 512 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions while beating the Raiders and losing to the Giants. One person who’s not surprised Mullens has responded to the opportunity is the quarterback’s former college coach Todd Monken, who’s now Tampa Bay’s offensive coordinator.Monken recruited Mullens to Southern Mississippi in 2013 and left to join the Bucs in 2016.“He’s everything you want in a player and as a quarterback,” Monken said. “He’s elite in a lot of areas that are hard to find when it comes to his toughness, mental toughness, his preparation, how much he enjoys playing football and his personality, where guys are going to gravitate toward him.“He’s not a flashy guy, he’s not going to say the wrong thing. He’s just going to work his rear end off. I couldn’t be happier for him. …We wouldn’t have done the things we did at Southern Miss without him. He’s made me a better coach.”Some other things to know about the 49ers and Buccaneers:MORE MULLENSMullens followed up a record-setting debut with a much more mediocre performance in a loss to the Giants before the bye. Now San Francisco wants to see which version of Mullens shows up against the Bucs.In his debut against Oakland, Mullens joined Hall of Famers Jim Kelly and Fran Tarkenton as the only players with at least 250 yards passing, three touchdown passes and no interceptions in their first career game. He also had the most efficient debut since the merger for a player with at least 20 attempts, posting a 151.9 rating in the 34-3 win. He followed that up with two interceptions in the loss to the Giants, but remains the starter ahead of Beathard.PROLIFIC NUMBERSTampa Bay has the NFL’s top-ranked passing attack (374.6 yards per game) and leads the league in total offense (458.5). Turnovers and a porous defense have hindered the team’s success. The Bucs have a NFL-worst turnover differential of minus-23. The defense is yielding a league-high 32.9 points per game.SOMETHING HAS TO GIVEThe Bucs have been giving the ball away at a staggering rate with their 29 turnovers tied for the most through 10 games since 2012. They face a 49ers team that has generated only five takeaways, the fewest in the league through 10 games since at least 2000. One of these teams should be able to fix that problem at least for one week on Sunday.

Here’s the need-to-know about the four newest members of the Bills:Quindarius Thagard, DT, UABThe 6’2” 287-lb Thagard had a 5.19 40-yard dash, 22 bench press reps, and a 30” vertical jump at his pro day. In two seasons at UAB, he had 61 tackles, 9.5 TFLs Darryl Johnson NFL Jersey , and four sacks. Thagard, who majored in criminal justice, was working as a correctional officer before his rookie minicamp performance earned him a contract.Garrett McGhin, OL, East CarolinaMcGhin developed from a special-teams blocker to a starting offensive lineman at ECU. The team captain started at left guard, center, right guard, and right tackle during his career with the Pirates. At 6’6” and 302 lbs, McGhin definitely fits the positional versatility mold Brandon Beane seeks.Moral Stephens, TE, FloridaThe Stephens signing was announced a little earlier than the others. A reserve tight end and special-teams contributor, Stephens finished his Florida career with 15 catches for 261 yards and three touchdowns.Abraham Wallace, S Darryl Johnson NFL Draft , West AlabamaAt 5’10” and 205 lbs, Wallace could potentially slot in as a safety or slot defender for the Bills. He ran a 4.53 40-yard dash at his pro day. Wallace originally played at LSU, who brought him onto their team despite an ACL tear in high school. That ACL injury didn’t heal well the first time, and a second surgery would result in Wallace losing his first two seasons on the field. Wallace played special teams as a redshirt sophomore, graduated and transferred to Texas Tech, but an ankle injury robbed him of a chance to start. He finally played a full season after transferring to D-2 West Alabama. On the other end of the equation, the Bills made two roster cuts to open space for these rookies. The first cut was Jake Fisher. Originally an offensive tackle, Fisher planned to convert to tight end and signed a one-year, $805,000 deal with the Bills to attempt that. Smith’s signing cancelled that experiment. Keith Ford is the other player to get the axe. An undrafted free agent from Texas A&M in 2018, Ford appeared in two games with the Bills, notching 21 carries for 79 yards (3.8 yards per attempt). Between LeSean McCoy, Frank Gore Darryl Johnson Buffalo Bills Jersey , rookie Devin Singletary, and other options like Marcus Murphy and Christian Wade, the Bills decided Ford didn’t fit onto the roster anymore. An undrafted free agent who was cut in the middle of the season, Foster came back and showed real upside thanks to his deep-threat ability" OpinionBuffalo Bills Salary CapBuffalo Bills’ best contract values of 2018: Robert FosterNew,49commentsAn undrafted free agent who was cut in the middle of the season, Foster came back and showed real upside thanks to his deep-threat abilityEDTAs an undrafted free agent out of Alabama, Robert Foster was thought to be just a camp body because of his connection to Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. Foster was overlooked and overshadowed by the plethora of talented receivers who play for the Crimson Tide and his production as a four-year player wasn't remarkable. The Bills appear to have found a steal in Foster. But it didn’t appear that way in the beginning—with the wide receiver tallying only two catches for 30 yards (all in one game) over the first half of the season. Buffalo waived Foster and then brought him back to the practice squad in Week 7. Finally a part of the active roster again the following week, Foster quickly created a connection with Josh Allen—in fact, over 75% of his production came in the last six games of the season. As noted in a piece about Robert Forster by the Bills’ official website: “Foster led the NFL in yards per catch with an average of 20.0 (minimum 25 receptions). The next four receivers on that list were DeSean Jackson, Josh Gordon, Mike Evans and Dante Pettis. He was the only NFL rookie with three 100-yard receiving games in 2018, putting him in a group with JuJu Smith-Schuster (3 in 2017), Michael Thomas (3 in 2016) and Amari Cooper (5 in 2015) as the only NFL players since 2015 to record three 100-yard games in their rookie season.”For the entire season Youth Shaq Lawson Jerseys , Foster had 27 catches for 541 yards and six touchdowns. Foster was the team’s second-leading receiver next to Zay Jones. In terms of production per snap, Foster was the number-one target. Foster only played 450 (42.5%) snaps to Jones’s 941 (88.9%) according to Pro Football Reference. Foster’s cap hit in 2018 was a whopping $225,880. For an undrafted receiver who was highly productive with a limited amount of snaps, Foster’s elite level of play over the final seven games of last season and his low cap number makes him the second-best salary-cap value on the Bills’ roster for the 2018 season.
Plays that tell the story of Friday’s victory by the Giants

over the Jets Let’s take a look back at some of the plays that tell various parts of the story of the New York Giants’ 22-16 victory over the New York Jets on Friday night in NFL preseason action. They aren’t in any particular order.Curtis Riley takes a bad angleRiley Womens Christopher Slayton Jersey , an obscure free agent pickup from the Tennessee Titans, has emerged as the Giants likely starter at free safety. Unless, of course, there is an unexpected roster move that shuffles that position. The play below doesn’t inspire confidence. This is the 10-yard first-quarter touchdown run by Bilal Powell of the Jets. Riley is lined up at safety near the goal line on the left hash. He reads and reacts to the play beautifully, but can’t make the stop. To my eyes, that’s because he is too eager, too aggressive. He tries to go under slot corner B.W. Webb for the big play and can’t get there. If he goes over, or behind, Webb he probably stops Powell somewhere around the 7-yard line. The best thing about Riley’s play so far this preseason is that he has barely been noticed. Here, I noticed him in a way that wasn’t positive.Overall, coach Pat Shurmur thought Riley “did a nice job” vs. the Jets. Shurmur also noted that the hamstring injury suffered by Darian Thompson, Riley’s primary competition at free safety Color Rush Julian Love Jersey , is “really lingering.”Hunter Sharp’s 55-yard punt returnThere are sooo many good things to talk about on this play it’s hard to know where to begin. Let’s start by actually looking at the play again. The first thing about this play is something the GIF doesn’t actually show. At what would be the bottom of the screen, the direction in which Sharp returned the punt, Michael Thomas and Eli Apple take the Jets gunner out of the play. On film, you see the gunner try to take an inside release. Apple and Thomas go with it, and ride him clear across to the other side of the field. That caves in everything to Sharp’s right, and starts the big play.Next, at the top of the screen Janoris Jenkins does a great job keeping a Jet off Sharp and an unidentifiable Giant at the bottom niftily avoids a blocking in the back penalty. Sharp’s teammates plow the road down the right side with Ray-Ray Armstrong (55) leveling a Jet and Russell Shepard driving Jets punter Lachlan Edwards to the turf. When is the last time the Giants blocked a return this well?Oh, and Sharp’s stiff-arm is pretty cool, too.B.W. Webb gives up a scoreWebb played the first half and continues to look as though he will be the starting slot cornerback. Here, though, he loses a 1-on-1 matchup with Terrelle Pryor and surrenders a touchdown. In the slot at the bottom of the screen you can see Webb matched up with Pryor. At the top of Pryor’s shallow crossing route you can see that he gets his hand on Webb and creates separation. Webb is in chase mode immediately and never has a chance. In live action, this looked like a blown coverage by linebacker B.J. Goodson. It wasn’t Youth Julian Love Jersey , though, as the linebacker tried in vain to bail Webb out.Slot corner continues to be a concern. Donte Deayon played much of the second half in that spot as he returned from injury. Oh my, OmamehThis play turned into a 5-yard loss for Wayne Gallman.I might be right here and I might not be, but what I see as the primary problem on this play is a missed block by right guard Patrick Omameh. Jets defensive tackle Leonard Williams is lined up over Giants center Jon Halapio, but on this play Halapio pulls and it appears to be Omameh’s job to get to Williams. He can’t get there quickly enough, allowing Williams to get into the backfield and blow up the play. There has been some speculation, even amongst writers here at Big Blue View, that Omameh could be playing himself out of a starting job. There has been no indication that is the case, though, when it comes to practice or game reps. Using Eli’s wheelsManning, especially at 37, will never be known for his fleet feet. That Womens Julian Love Jersey , however, doesn’t mean the Giants can’t move him around like they do on the play below.I chose to highlight this as a play worth mentioning because it shows a couple of things that haven’t been used enough in recent years — play action and moving the pocket so Manning isn’t a stationary target. Manning has always excelled at play action, which was a staple of his success back in the Kevin Gilbride era.“I believe that every quarterback needs to use his legs to some degree. I think if you do enough other things well on offense, and I do believe that you have to move the launch point for the throws which sometimes means the play action game or moving the pocket, so I believe in that and I do believe that any quarterback can do it to some degree,” Shurmur said. “Eli moves around well enough where he can execute some of that stuff.”This play is also impressive because it is Manning moving left and then re-setting himself and delivering a strike. When is the last time we’ve seen the Giants move Manning in this fashion? Whenever it was, it was too long ago. This play also allows me to segue into this from Brian Baldinger:NOTE: Hopefully, we will do more of these when time permits during the season. EDTShareTweetShareShareTop 10 Patriots Draft Fits #2: Mississippi State EDGE Montez SweatBrian Spurlock-USA TODAY SportsThe Patriots edge rusher position is about in similar shape to the DT postion. The team has veterans and rotation players manning the position, but could use an infusion of young talent at the position. The Patriots attempted to add Derek Rivers to the position two years ago, but it hasn’t worked out so far due to an ACL injury suffered in Rivers’ rookie year. The team also has Keionta Davis, who saw less and less time on the field further down the season. The team could very well stick with their approach of picking up mid-round plug and play guys who had moderate ceilings as it’s worked in the past. However there is one prospect at the position that could be an intriguing add in the first round, it’s Montez Sweat from Mississippi State.Combine DataHeight: 6’6”Weight: 260Arm: 35 3/4”Hand: 10 1/2”40: 4.41225-lb Bench Reps: 21Vertical: 36”Broad Jump: 10’5”5-10-5 Shuttle: 4.293-Cone: 7.00StrengthsPrototypical size and length for the positionElite SEC productionPlug and play starterAdept hand fighterBends around the edge wellContains mobile QBs in the pocketAthletic enough to drop into coverage when askedWeaknessesReportedly has heart condition that’s given teams concernsWill need to add muscle weight to his frame to be sturdier vs. runPad level and leverage at times will be an issueWhy the Patriots Will Draft HimThe team does not need a starter at the position, but given the depth at the position of moderate ceiling players the team should not be afraid to take Sweat if he falls out of the Top 20. Sweat has ideal measurables for an edge rusher and is athletic enough to drop into coverage. From a scheme standpoint Color Rush Joejuan Williams Jersey , Sweat can fit both a stand-up rusher role in a 3-4 or a hand-in-the-dirt linemen in a 4-3. The Patriots typically like to have edge guys who fit both schemes to disguise their ability to rush the QB. There is some upside in the kicking game as Sweat would be on the FG block unit, an edge blocker on FG unit (like Chandler Jones), as well as kick/punt coverage. The 4-down upside is something the Patriots should consider when thinking about a trade up or picking even at 32.Why the Patriots Will Not Draft HimSweat has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: a heart condition in which the heart is abnormally thick. The problem is not believed to be as severe as the case with Maurice Hurst went from Top 15 prospect to a 5th round pick. Some teams have taken Sweat off their draft boards, and I have zero idea if the Patriots are one of those teams. Sweat was allowed to work out at the combine vs. Hurst, who was shut down. The problem has not affected him in his Mississippi State career. The only other issue is a checkered off-the-field list from his days at Michigan State that had him kicked out of the program. The Patriots took a chance on J.C. Jackson last season, so I don’t believe that will disqualify him as a fit with New England. The other major reason is he simply won’t be available. Teams sitting in the late teens and early 20s might be salivating to draft a player of his talent and possibly execute a trade to get a player with DPOY upside. Who He Has to Beat Out: Derek Rivers Youth Joejuan Williams Jersey , Keionta DavisRookie Year ProjectionSweat would start out 3rd in the rotation behind Michael Bennett and Deatrich Wise Jr. The Patriots would try to get him on the field on special teams and as a designated pass rusher on passing downs. Sweat’s pass rushing upside already makes him capable of being a quality contributor as a rookie on the defensive front with more upside to be had in future years. Sweat will require a bit of time in the weight room to bulk up from 260 to 270 to be sturdier on the edge vs. the run although he’s not a liability in that area either. Long Term ProjectionSweat would be the highest upside pass rusher the Patriots added since drafting Chandler Jones 21st overall in 2012. By the end of Year 2, Sweat will become the top edge rusher in the defense and the key matchup weapon against the weakness of the opposing OL. I’m curious to see if he can rush inside, not necessarily with his hand in the dirt, similar to how the Patriots utilized Dont’a Hightower and Kyle Van Noy in the Super Bowl. Against run formations and personnel, Sweat would play exclusively on the edge.Grade: 5/5 StarterRound: 1stIf Sweat makes it past the 20th pick, the Patriots have to consider a potential trade up to land a potential game-changing talent to the defense. Sweat is a player with Top 10 measurables and tape Womens Joejuan Williams Jersey , and would otherwise be a Top 10 pick if not for the heart condition. While the Patriots are not starving for a starter, they could certainly upgrade a position that has a need 2 years down the road. The 5th year option would give the Patriots 5 years of cost control for a potential elite player.Week 2 Patriots vs Jaguars inactives: Sony Michel and Rex Burkhead active, Derek Rivers a healthy scratch once again In a little more than 90 minutes, the New England Patriots will face the Jacksonville Jaguars in what is a battle between two teams projected to again be among the AFC’s best this year. Today’s matchup could therefore very well have serious playoff implications further down the line. For now, however, it’s just two teams looking to go 2-0 – and they will try to do so without the following players:Patriots inactivesMarcus Cannon and Keion Crossen being inactive was already announced by the team yesterday Authentic Joejuan Williams Jersey , after both players were listed as questionable on Friday’s final injury report. The duo is joined by five men – all five of them being healthy scratches: recently added Corey Coleman and Kenjon Barner will be out, as will be depth offensive lineman Brian Schwenke. Cornerback J.C. Jackson and Derek Rivers are also not active for the second straight week. Two players not listed above are running backs Sony Michel and Rex Burkhead: both will be active today after also being listed as questionable on Friday. Furthermore, tight end Jacob Hollister will make his 2018 debut as the Patriots’ number two receiving tight end behind Rob Gronkowski.Jaguars inactivesThe Jaguars’ best offensive player – running back Leonard Fournette – will indeed miss today’s game because of a hamstring injury. This means that T.J. Yeldon, who is dealing with an ankle issue himself, and Corey Grant will carry the load on the ground this week. More pressure will also be put on quarterback Blake Bortles.

Metcalf,6’ 4” 230 lbs,WROle Miss#14D.K. (DeKaylin Zecharius) Metcalfis a towering WR with elite traits that have many scouts drooling with dreams of drafting him for their team. While Metcalf has out of this world talent, he comes with some questions as well.D.K. comes from a long line offootball professionals, he almost seemed destined to play in the NFL.D.K.’s father is Terrance Metcalf, who was an All-American at Ole Miss and played 7 seasons in the NFL, mostly with the Chicago Bears.D.K.’s grandfather Terry Metcalf played 6 seasons in the NFL, 5 of which were with the St. Louis Cardinals.D.K.’s uncle Eric Metcalf (his dad’s brother) was a three time Pro Bowl RB/WR/KR and played 13 seasons in the NFL, mostly with the Cleveland Browns and the San Diego Chargers. Let’s start with the good about Metcalf. He is tall with good feet (not great feet) which are above average for a tall receiver. He is fast, very fast, which also is above average for a tall receiver. Some taller receivers need an airport runway to get up to speed; Metcalf does not.Metcalf has elite acceleration for a tall receiver. From a dead stop or after a reception Metcalf gets up to full speed in just a few steps which is outstanding. Here is an example. For some reason he decides to slow play it off the line but Metcalf takes three steps, chucks the defender to get an inside release, then he is gone.It was man against child in this play as once he gets by the CB can’t even get close enough to interfere with him.Now to be fair this route was run against a redshirt freshman corner who was the 88th ranked CB in 2015 coming out of high school. Why the defensive coordinator wants to put him on an island when he is overmatched physically is beyond reason. This also was only the second play of the game; it took all of 33 seconds to score against Texas Tech. Of course you could ask the same thing of Nick Saban on why he has Saivion Smith locked in press coverage against Metcalf; this was the first play of the game.I think Nick Saban is the second best all around football coach in the world and a top five DB coach but this was an overestimation of Smith’s abilities.Smith is fast but he is poor in press coverage and is more of a zone corner.Metcalf’s release is again puzzling as he uses three steps that go nowhere, he then (again) just chucks the CB and blows by him leaving Smith in the dust. This is the elite acceleration I was describing; long legged receivers are not supposed to have this type of ability. This is Calvin Johnson-esque. These next two plays come about 40 seconds of game time apart and show the difficulty in trying to cover Metcalf with a mediocre corner. The first play is a poorly run “in” route that Metcalf lets fade upfield. Metcalf succeeds on this play because he sprints off the line like he is running a “9” route. This is how you teach a player to come off the line on an “in” route; shoulders over knees; nicely done. The corner has to bail and Metcalf plays catch with the QB for 10 yards and a first down.He is playing against Lonnie Johnson, who is 6’ 3” and is poor in man coverage, but makes up for it by being even worse in press coverage.Johnson is a text book cover 3 corner but Kentucky used him in off coverage man on this play because he is a big CB.Since off coverage didn’t work the first play Kentucky uses press coverage against Metcalf. You can almost see the QB drooling when he observes Metcalf covered one on one, as he gives the cursory play fake, a real quick look to hold the safety and then bombs away to a wide open Metcalf.Johnson gives a great demonstration on how not to play press coverage as he can barely stay in front of Metcalf at the snap then tries to impede him while falling backwards. It didn’t work.Metcalf shows better footwork off the line as he takes two steps left then crosses the face of Johnson with open field in front of him.Metcalf is at about full speed three steps after going by Johnson which is fantastic. This next play I think is the best play Metcalf has made in his career thus far.It is again against our buddy Lonnie Johnson but Lonnie actually does a decent job of coverage mainly because he has very little area to cover. This play is for the game as Ole Miss is down by 4 with 10 seconds remaining no time outs on the 7 yard line. Metcalf does about as good a job on this play as he can. This is a fade to the corner and Metcalf gets a quick outside release and gains an advantage on Johnson.Metcalf races to the mid portion of the end zone, giving himself room to stay in bounds if he should need to jump.He then looks back, gets his body turned so he is square to the QB, then goes up strong with two hands to snare the ball.Johnson gets his hand in between Metcalf’s arms but Metcalf gets one foot in bounds then pulls the ball away with one hand (away from danger) and maintains control. You could not make this play any better against this coverage. This is the type of red zone play that coaches will want to use Metcalf on numerous times in the NFL.I think D.K. Metcalf is a tremendous talent and could develop into an outstanding receiver in years to come.He has the ability to be an All-Pro receiver; the problem is he is not even close yet.Metcalf has played three years of college football and had severe injuries (foot and neck) that ended two of those three years. Those are two of the worst injuries a WR can have; the medicals at the combine will need to be gone over with a fine toothed comb.Certain foot injuries (especially in larger players) can be a recurring problem. Neck injuries can have the same problem of recurrence. Metcalf has never caught 40 receptions or had 650 yards receiving in a year even while playing in 12 games in 2017.The hype surrounding this kid is amazing and even legitimate well known sports sites are pushing the envelope of hyperbole. This is actually written in a scouting report:Those two touchdowns he mentions covered a total of 13 yards. The 39 catches he mentions means he averaged 3.25 catches a game in 2017 which is better than his career college average of 3.2 receptions a game.Metcalf also drops a lot of balls. In 2017 in 12 games he was targeted 79 times with 39 receptions which is a 49.37% catch percentage. For a huge star who supposedly carries a team Metcalf had only 16.32% of the targets on his team.He was 12th in the SEC in targets but 4th on his own team in receptions. Van Jefferson had more receptions than Metcalf with only 57 targets and he transferred to Florida after 2017. Metcalf runs a very small route tree and is always outside which makes it easier to use different types of blanket coverages.Players rarely make huge jumps in production from their college stats into the pro game; it happens but it is rare. How dominant is a player who has the 4th most receptions on his own team? Also from the same article:Here are the two scores he talked about. They are decent plays but look at the scores of the game, you have no idea which players were in the game with Ole Miss getting destroyed like that.In that game he had 4 receptions for 28 yards with the 2 TDs so he wasn’t a difference maker in that game. Those 2 TDs account for over 25% of his TDs for the year. This game was Metcalf’s best of the year as he accounted for 125 yards receiving and a TD on 3 receptions against Cal.You see once Metcalf gets by his man he is more comfortable making the catch. He will need to make more contested catches in the NFL, something he struggled with at times in college. The same game but Cal switched a 5’10 corner with better cover skills against him.I read numerous scouting reports about how great Metcalf is on getting off the line. This get off is called the cha cha and NFL WR coaches will not like it.You can’t work in a timed passing offense if you do a dance before you run your route.I see this a lot with Metcalf; the reason he gets away from press coverage is usually his physical skills. He will need to work on footwork against press coverage in the NFL.This next play is a wide open drop which hits him in the hands in that same Cal game that they lost by 11 points. His defender decided not to press him so he got an untouched release. This ball is on the money; all receivers drop balls but when you have only 3 receptions a game and a catch rate of less than 50% your QB may stop throwing the ball your way.You have to make the plays that can be made in the NFL. If not you will be sitting next to the coach while someone else plays. This next clip is of a player who decides to get physical with Metcalf. Most of the clips of his highlights Metcalf was almost untouched as he leaves the LOS.This is the type of coverage Metcalf will see in the NFL.You can chalk this play up as a nice play by the corner. The corner is Henry Toliver who ran 4.63/40 at the combine and had a SPARQ score of 6%.He had a cup of coffee with the Colts in training camp and is bagging groceries now.He will probably make a camp this summer but he doesn’t have NFL skills to last in the league.A Calvin Johnson type player should not be handled by a much lesser talent, let alone a guy who could not make it in the NFL.This last clip is of an LSU game that Metcalf was covered like a blanket. The corner wasn’t Greedy Williams covering Metcalf, it was Kevin Toliver.Metcalf had 1 reception in this game for 15 yards and gave up that dropped catch for an INT. A few bad games would be OK if you had 4 years of great production but Metcalf has played in only 21 college games and has never had great production. I really like Metcalf and think he can have a bright future in the NFL.I would still take him late in the 1st round, he is that good a talent, but you can’t miss with a #3 overall pick, that would be devastating. One thing to remember is I did a post two years ago and showed that of all the WRs drafted in the 1st round of the draft between 2000 and 2009 there were 42 1st round selections54.7% were either a Bust or a Mega BustBust) 16 = 38%Almost a bust, almost a player) 5 = 12%Player) 4 = 9.5%Star) 6 = 14.3%Mega Bust) 7 = 16.7%Mega Star) 4 = 9.5%You take your chances with a high 1st round WR. The idea here is to build a generic Big Board reflecting the community’s view of this year’s draft class regardless of the Jets’ (or any other team’s) particular needs. So for instance, the Jets do not need a QB this year, but that should not prevent you from placing a QB high on the Big Board. Each day we will close the previous day’s poll and the candidate with the most votes will be added to the GGN Big Board. In the event of a tie vote the tie will be broken by surname in alphabetical order. By the time the draft rolls around we should have enough players on our Big Board to cover two rounds of the draft. In the event I have made an egregious omission and a name you think should be on the poll is not there you can write in candidates in the comments section. If a player gets support in the comments section I’ll add him to the next day’s poll.Try not to get overly frustrated if your guy isn’t being voted to the top of the board. We all have different views and what we’re looking for here is a composite of the best players in the community’s collective mind. Your views may or may not coincide with the community’s, and either way that’s OK.So let’s get to it. Today we vote for the #61 prospect on the 2019 crowd sourced GGN Big Board. Who will it be? Vote early, vote often, and let’s hear who you think are the best players in this draft.

Despite criticism from some, Bucs Nation correctly predicted Tampa Bay’s upset of the Panthers last week by a 6-3 margin. Let’s recap last week and gaze into this crystal ball for Week 14. Hot Damn: Kyle Marks correctly picked the Cardinals (+13.5) over the Packers. Eh, not so hot: The crew went just 4-3 with unanimous picks and are now 39-12 when everyone jumps on the same squad.Back on top: Teams favored to win by a 5-4 margin snapped a three-week losing streak after finishing 2-0 last week. Alone again: Kyle Marks was the only one who picked the Redskins to beat the Giants.

SANTA CLARA Joe Montana Jersey , Calif. (AP) — Aaron Donald ripped the ball out of Matt Breida’s hands to set up one touchdown. He harassed C.J. Beathard with four sacks and several other hits that helped shut down San Francisco’s offense.Donald’s dominance helped improve Los Angeles to 7-0 for the first time since 1985 with a 39-10 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday and showed that the defense can play as big a role in the success as the Rams’ high-powered offense.“I don’t think there’s anybody that’s been like him in the NFL,” 49ers left tackle Joe Staley said. “He’s in a class of his own. At the end of the day, he’s still an NFL player and our job is to block him. He was really impactful today.”That’s an understatement.Donald used his brute strength to set up one of Todd Gurley’s three touchdowns with his fumble recovery in the first half for the Rams and got a couple of his sacks by just pushing offensive linemen into Beathard and knocking him down. After recording no sacks in his first three games following a training camp holdout, Donald now has eight in the past four games, showing why he earned that $135 million, six-year contract this summer.“You feel him and he did a great job affecting and influencing the game in a variety of ways,” coach Sean McVay said. “He was great against the run, did a good job of being able to get to Beathard on a handful of occasions. But, our defense overall, Aaron was a big part of that.”Donald had plenty of help on defense with Cory Littleton getting two sacks and a blocked punt for a safety ; Troy Hill and John Johnson III intercepting passes; and Samson Ebukam getting an early strip sack that Trevon Young recovered.“One of the best defensive performances I’ve been around,” Rams quarterback Jared Goff said. “It seemed like every time we sat down we got back up and went on the field. … It was just a lot of fun to watch.”Here are some other takeaways from the game:GURLEY’S DAYGurley ran for 63 yards, caught four passes for 23 and had his third three-touchdown game of the season. His 14 TDs this season tie Priest Holmes (2002, ’04) for the most through seven games in the Super Bowl era. His most memorable score was his last one when Goff somehow found him through traffic on a cross-field screen pass and Gurley broke a tackle from Reuben Foster and raced in for the 12-yard score .“It didn’t play out quite the way we wanted it to,” Goff said. “That’s just me and him trying to make a play. He’s a great player, try to get him the ball and he made it work.”TURN IT OVERIt’s hard to determine whether the 49ers are worse at creating turnovers or committing them. San Francisco ranks last in the league with three takeaways through seven games — tied for the fewest at this point in the season since the 1970 merger — and has committed the most with 18. The Niners have committed 14 turnovers since their last takeaway on Sept. 30 against the Chargers. Beathard has thrown seven interceptions and lost three fumbles in four starts.“It’s inexcusable,” coach Kyle Shanahan said. “It’s impossible to win in this league when you turn the ball over like we are and you when don’t get any.”LOOKING AHEADThe Rams barely had time to celebrate this victory before fielding questions about what comes next. Los Angeles is starting a tough four-week stretch that starts with a home game against Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay next week, followed by a trip to New Orleans to face Drew Brees and the Saints Ahkello Witherspoon Jersey White , a home game against Seattle, then a game in Mexico City against Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City.“I think we just have to keep building off of today’s game,” cornerback Troy Hill said. “It’s one of those things that we’ve been waiting for, and so now we just have to keep on stringing it together.”BREIDA’S HEALTHBreida has shown good sparks as the team’s main running back with 445 yards rushing and an NFL-best 6.5 yards per carry. But the second-year back has struggled to stay healthy as he has been hampered by shoulder, knee and ankle injuries. He was limited to five carries against the Rams after rolling his ankle but might need some time off to fully heal.“I tried to keep on playing,” he said. “I have to be smart and not hurt my team at the same time. If I can’t go out there and go 100 percent, I have to let the guys that can do it.”Golden Nuggets: Injury Report Blues Good morning folks, the second week of the 2018 NFL season kicks off tonight with a divisional matchup between the Ravens and the Bengals. Both teams are coming off week 1 victories that showcased their offensive abilities, but, as usual, the Ravens’ defense seems to have the edge after a stifling performance against the Bills. How much of that was due to the Bills’ ineptitude on offense is yet to be seen, but Baltimore’s ability to harass the quarterback looks to be impressive. As for the 49ers, injury woes have highlighted the week thus far. After reverting to the 49ers’ injured reserve list as part of final cuts, Aaron Burbridge has been officially released by the 49ers with an injury settlement. The veteran wide receiver and special teams contributor is now a free agent, and, unfortunately, I can’t imagine his prospects are too great as of this moment. Speaking of IR Jerry Rice Jersey White , linebacker Brock Coyle has been added to the list following a week 1 impact that left him with a concussion and a broken bone in his back. The team made a corresponding roster move by signing journeyman veteran Terence Garvin, who made three starts last year with the Seattle Seahawks at the linebacker position. Over his previous 5 years in the league, he’s seen a fair amount of special teams work, but a relatively small amount of actual defensive work - however, he does have experience as an inside and outside linebacker, which seems to create some value to having him on the roster, as the entire OLB depth chart is currently Mark Nzeocha. Guards Mike Person and Joshua Garnett continue to sit out with foot injuries, which means, to me, that there may be an outside chance that Najee Toran, an undrafted rookie who was called up from the practice squad this week, may see some game action against the Lions. Malcolm Smith continues to sit out with an injury he sustained early in the preseason - continuing his streak of not producing anything for the 49ers.On the perimeters, Adrian Colbert sat Wednesday’s practice out with a hamstring issue, and fellow defenders Jaquiski Tartt, K’Waun Williams, and Ahkello Witherspoon were all listed as “limited” with various ailments. Speedster Marquise Goodwin has continued to sit with a thigh injury, and his availability for Sunday’s home game against the Lions is looking less and less likely.Injury list for Lions week | Maiocco Tom Rathman Jersey , NBC Sports Bay Area | Biderman, Sac Bee | Madson, NinerswireBrock Coyle to IR, corresponding LB signing | Maiocco, NBC Sports Bay Area | Montero, KNBR | Biderman, Sac Bee | Wagoner, ESPN | Madson, KNBR | Madson (2), KNBRAaron Burbridge released | Madson, NinerswireJimmy Garoppolo on being scared | KNBR Staff | Biderman, Sac BeeKyle Shanahan, Garoppolo emphasizing red-zone efficiency | Almquist, KNBR | Biderman, Sac Bee

In it, Kadar has the Buffalo Bills and general manager Brandon Beane deciding to strengthen the team’s trenches with the combination of a pass rushing defensive tackle in the first round and a dominant run-blocking guard in the second. Grif’s take:Upgrading the offensive and defensive lines are always solid strategies around draft time. I don’t take issue with the strategy, I object to the tactics. With three defensive tackles going in the first round http://www.thebillslockerroom.com/authentic-ryan-groy-jersey , taking the player he considers to be fourth-best, is a reach. Kadar admits as much in his write-up. With offensive linemen Jawaan Taylor and Cody Ford still on the board, targeting the offensive line in the first round may have been the better way to go. As for the players, Lindstrom is very-much deserving of pick 40 Eddie Yarbrough Jerseys 2019 , while Wilkins’s upside is somewhat limited given that he’s a four-year starter at Clemson and will be 24 during his rookie season. Additionally, there are still questions about his ability to stand up to defensive lines at the point of attack.

And frankly, the same goes for Gettleman. While they may be criticized for over-drafting him, and not getting the pass-rusher they needed with the sixth pick (Josh Allen was available), the Giants were correct to take Jones if they’re convinced he’s a future franchise quarterback. Those guys are rare.Ultimately, Gettleman and the Giants will be judged based on whether Jones becomes one, rather than when they decided to acquire him. The former Nebraska Cornhusker never matched an impressive freshman season" New York Giants NewsGiants’ 90-man roster: What are Giants getting in DL Freedom Akinmoladun?New,23commentsThe former Nebraska Cornhusker never matched an impressive freshman seasonEDTContinuing their search for undrafted gems Color Rush George Asafo-Adjei Jersey , the New York Giants this week signed former Nebraska defensive lineman Freedom Akinmoladun after he impressed during a rookie mini-camp tryout. What are the Giants getting in Akinmoladun, aside from a guy with a great first name and an impossibly difficult last name to both say and spell? It appears they are getting a player with tools and athleticism, but one who perhaps did not reach his potential with the Cornhuskers. Here is a quick scouting report from the folks at SB Nation’s Nebraska website, Corn Nation:“Untapped potential. Showed great explosion as a pass rusher as a redshirt freshman in 2015 before the previous strength staff had him bulk up and he lost his explosion. Hampered by an ankle injury and playing for three defensive line coaches and three DCs“Can he make the roster.... ? “That’s a damned good question. Nebraska football was completely lost under coach Mike Riley, and those guys didn’t get a lot of development, as was pointed out. “If he has time to stick around, maybe on a practice squad Youth George Asafo-Adjei Jersey , perhaps. There was a lot of hope for Freedom (not even a pun intended) when he was young, and then everything turned to crap. The defense went straight to hell under [former defensive coordinator] Bob Diaco.”Let’s take a closer look at Akinmoladun as we continue profiling the 90 players the Giants will bring to training camp later this summer. The basicsHeight: 6-foot-4Weight: 295Position: DLExperience: 0How he got hereAkinmoladun was a four-year starter at Nebraska. His best season was his freshman year when he compiled 4.5 sacks and 7.0 tackles for loss. Over the next three seasons, he had just 6.5 sacks and 9.0 tackles for loss combined. Here is a little bit more about how his Cornhusker career went:With the Giants in attendance, Akinmoladun tested well at the Nebraska Pro Day. The Giants brought him to the rookie mini-camp as a tryout player, liked what they saw and added him to the roster.2019 outlook Akinmoladun faces a steep climb to make the roster.B.J. Hill, Dalvin Tomlinson, first-round pick Dexter Lawrence Womens George Asafo-Adjei Jersey , seventh-round pick Chris Slayton, last year’s fifth-round pick R.J. McIntosh and free-agent signee Olsen Pierre would all appear to be ahead of Akinmoladun. The Giants also re-signed veteran nose tackle John Jenkins.Perhaps what the Giants see is a player with intriguing who could benefit from a year on an NFL practice squad with some quality coaching.

The Patriots receiver will be back in 2019.

Whether or not he plays is a different question."New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon has signed his restricted free agent tender Color Rush Yodny Cajuste Jersey , per ESPN’s Field Yates. Gordon’s availability to play in 2019 is in question due to repeated violations of the NFL’s performance-enhancing drugs policy, but if he gets clearance to play it will be in New England. The Patriots acquired Gordon in the middle of last season and Gordon helped the team secure a first round bye en route to winning another Super Bowl. Gordon caught 40 passes for 720 yards and received a Super Bowl ring despite facing an indefinite ban for violating the league’s drug policy in December.Hopefully Gordon can receive the help he needs off the field because that should always be the priority. If he’s able to return to the field with the Patriots, that should just be considered a bonus. New England shouldn’t change their approach to the wide receiver position in the draft with this news, but the idea of a receiving corps with a healthy Julian Edelman, Demaryius Thomas, and Josh Gordon is certainly tantalizing- and who knows, maybe that could get Rob Gronkowski to come out of retirement for one last ride. Kacy Rodgers missed being around the players and coaches the most while not knowing when he'd feel well enough to be back.A health scare sidelined the New York Jets defensive coordinator for two games 鈥?a tense few weeks for Rodgers, who was medically cleared and returned to work this week on a full-time basis."Walking in the locker room (Sunday) and seeing the guys, it's just good to be back Youth Yodny Cajuste Jersey , it really is," Rodgers said Thursday while speaking to reporters for the first time since coming back to work.Bowles announced on Oct. 5 that Rodgers was dealing with something "serious" after visiting the doctor the previous day. The 49-year-old Rodgers underwent tests and then had what he called "a procedure" and was able to do some office work at the team's facility last week."It was kind of bothering me, and it was something that we had to get checked out," Rodgers said. "So I had a procedure last Monday, and then I got the results back this Monday. Everything came back good, so we're good to go."Rodgers declined to provide details about the exact nature of his illness, saying he preferred to keep it private."I really don't want to say that right now," he said. "I feel a lot better. I really do. It's good to be back and getting back in the swing of things. We knew the procedure and we felt confident going in that it would be taken care of and we would know the results."He surprised the players by attending the Jets' victory over Indianapolis last Sunday and broke down the team's postgame huddle in the locker room."Sometimes you take for granted what it is to be around the guys and be with them every day," Rodgers said Womens Yodny Cajuste Jersey , "and the family unit it becomes."Rodgers has been out on the field during practice this week, but it's uncertain if he will call the defensive plays in his usual role Sunday against Minnesota."Him getting back into it was easy," Bowles said. "He was in the building last week doing tedious things, but getting back into it is pretty good. He's back at game-planning normally. We are all in meetings and we will decide that probably tomorrow or Saturday who is going to call it."After Bowles knew Rodgers wouldn't be able to coach against Denver two weeks ago, he announced the bad news to the team.Several of the players reached out to their coach, and he thought it was "truly touching" to hear from so many well-wishers."I got a lot of texts from all the guys," he said before smiling. "What's kind of ironic is, I coach the defense, but I had just as many offensive guys reaching out."But then came the tough part: watching the Jets beat the Broncos 34-16 from his couch at home."That's kind of a hard Authentic Yodny Cajuste Jersey , hard feeling," Rodgers said.To a man, the defensive players said they dedicated their play 鈥?and the victory 鈥?to Rodgers that day.He felt well enough to attend the game last Sunday at MetLife Stadium and was able to mingle with the players before kickoff. Rodgers then sat in the coaches' booth while wearing the radio headset, but was only what Bowles described as "a casual observer.""You never want to be a distraction to the team," Rodgers said. "Everybody else was having to pick up (the slack) with me away from the coaching staff. Todd had to do more and the rest of the assistants had to do more. For the players to know they've got a job to do, I feel like I'm hindering them."It was what Rodgers called a "weird" experience and added he didn't want to be "a detriment" to the team. After the game, several players such as Morris Claiborne, Darron Lee and Jamal Adams said seeing Rogers really lifted them up emotionally."That's priceless," Rodgers said. "To know they were thinking about me while they were trying to do their jobs really means a lot."Rodgers was also able to joke about the success Bowles had running the defense in his absence 鈥?both victories."Dang Yodny Cajuste Jersey Boys ," Rodgers said with a big laugh, "I need to stay away more often."NOTES: CBs Buster Skrine (concussion) and Trumaine Johnson (quadriceps), WRs Terrelle Pryor (groin) and Quincy Enunwa (sprained ankle), RB Isaiah Crowell (foot) and S Marcus Maye (broken thumb) didn't practice. Only Enunwa and Maye have already been ruled out against Minnesota. ... LB Kevin Pierre-Louis (foot) was limited after sitting out Wednesday. ... WR Robby Anderson (hamstring) and Leon Williams (back) were full after not practicing Wednesday, and C Spencer Long (knee/finger) was also full after being limited. ... RB De'Angelo Henderson was re-signed to the practice squad and LB Harvey Langi was played on practice squad injured reserve.

(AP) — Jerome Baker danced, waved, waggled his index finger and clicked his heels. For a first-year linebacker, it was a surprisingly polished touchdown celebration.Baker bested fellow rookie Sam Darnold, scoring the game's only TD on a 25-yard interception return with 11 minutes left, and a resilient defense helped the Miami Dolphins beat the hapless New York Jets 13-6 on Sunday.Darnold threw four interceptions and took four sacks, and the Jets went 2 for 15 on third and fourth down. The hobbled Dolphins (5-4) endured another wave of injuries and the mysterious departure of safety Reshad Jones, who pulled himself out of the game. But their defense was much improved after three consecutive poor games ."We never panicked; we knew what our defense was capable of," Baker said. "When we are executing and do our job and play together, we're one of the best defenses out there."The quality of the opposition helped the defense dominate, however, allowing Miami to win with only seven first downs.Darnold tried to rally the sputtering Jets (3-6) from a 6-3 deficit, but following a punt the rookie took a high snap and made an ill-advised throw to tight end Eric Tomlinson. Baker stepped in front for his first career interception and scored untouched."I didn't throw it with confidence," Darnold said. "I just alligator-armed it — threw it a little bit short."Much of the game was a slog, but Baker provided a video highlight celebrating with his teammates."There is nothing like it," he said, game ball cradled under his arm. "It is the sweetest feeling ever Kelechi Osemele Jerseys 2019 , especially getting in the end zone, seeing your brothers running toward you."T.J. McDonald and Walt Aikens made interceptions to end the Jets' final two possessions."The guys did a good job of complementary football," Dolphins coach Adam Gase said. "They played together. They did a good job of stopping the run and making it as one-dimensional as possible."Miami broke a two-game losing streak and won for only the second time in the past six games. Gase improved to 5-1 against the Jets, including two wins this year. The Jets lost their third in a row and have scored 33 points during the skid. They've dropped nine of their past 10 road games dating to 2017.Darnold went 21 for 39 for 229 yards and a passer rating of 31.8. He came into the game tied for the NFL lead with 10 interceptions , and the four picks were a new high."Two for sure he'd like to have back," coach Todd Bowles said. "Back to the drawing board."Cameron Wake and Akeem Spence had two sacks apiece for the Dolphins, who had allowed 102 points the previous three weeks."Everybody playing together, front to back side to side, and getting a win, that's about as rewarding as it is," Wake said.TO THE BENCHJones, whose tendency to freelance has been an issue, watched the second half from the sideline. Gase said he didn't know whether Jones was hurt."It sounds like he pulled himself out," Gase said. "I've just got to find out what happened there."Jones didn't talk to the media after the game.DOLPHINS SUBMiami totaled only 168 yards, but Brock Osweiler improved to 2-2 as a starter filling in for the injured Ryan Tannehill . Osweiler went 15 for 24 for 139 yards and took four sacks, but his unit committed no turnovers."It was just a good old-fashioned fight on the field, and it was fun White Jamison Crowder Jerseys ," Osweiler said. "We won."INJURY REPORTDolphins: LT Laremy Tunsil (knee) left in the fourth quarter. … RT Ja'Wuan James (knee) departed in the first half, but later returned. … CB Bobby McCain was evaluated for a concussion. … DE Robert Quinn limped off in the field in the closing minutes.Jets: C Spencer Long aggravated an injury to the middle finger of his right hand and had half a dozen off-target snaps before leaving the game. … Backup LB Tarell Basham (knee) left the game in the second half.FULL WEEKENDThe field looked worn but was not an issue less than 24 hours after the Miami Hurricanes and Duke played on it in a downpour.NATIONAL ANTHEMDolphins receiver Kenny Stills kneeled during the anthem and Quinn stood with his right fist raised, as they have done before other games.UP NEXTDolphins: play at Green Bay for the first time since 2010 on Nov. 11.Jets: play host to Buffalo on Nov. 11. The teams also meet on Dec. 9. NEW YORK (AP) — Todd Bowles is concerned about only one thing regarding his future with the New York Jets: the team’s next opponent.Despite all the rumors and expectations that the game Sunday at New England will be his last as coach of the franchise, Bowles refuses to publicly fuel any of the speculation that has seemed like an inevitable ending for weeks.“I do not talk about my job,” Bowles said during a conference call Monday.Plenty of other people do that for him, of course, with many fans and media already preparing for a coaching search and throwing out potential replacements for Bowles.Pro Football Talk reported Sunday night, citing an anonymous source, that the Jets plan to pursue Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh. Bowles said he had no response to the report, but the team issued a statement from acting chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson denying it.“Todd Bowles is our head coach,” Johnson said in the statement. “There is no truth to the report of our interest in Jim Harbaugh.”That, of course, doesn’t mean Bowles will, in fact, remain the coach moving forward. The Jets also might know the reality is Harbaugh has made it clear he intends to remain with the Wolverines.Harbaugh’s brother John, another name mentioned in speculation and rumors, will also not be on New York’s list after Baltimore announced last week it will sign him to a contract extension.Former Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy has been a much-discussed option on sports radio and social media Jamison Crowder Jerseys 2019 , and there will be plenty more names to consider over the next several days.Bowles remaining with the Jets, however, does not seem likely. He is about to finish his fourth season — all without a playoff appearance — and has a 24-39 overall record, including a 44-38 overtime loss to the Packers on Sunday.“Personally, I do not speak about my next job,” Bowles said. “I worry about tomorrow and when Christmas comes, and I worry about New England on Sunday and I go from there.”That’s not just lip service from Bowles, who has always been reserved about his private life and his job status since being hired by the Jets in 2015 to replace the fired Rex Ryan. Bowles has insisted on keeping the focus on his players, and not letting the outside chatter affect anyone inside his locker room.“That’s my only job,” the 55-year-old Bowles told The Associated Press in a recent interview. “Nothing else matters. They’re younger and they haven’t been through anything like this, so it’s up to me to make sure we approach it the right way and learn the things we need to learn, and it gets navigated the right way, and that’s my only job.“There’s nothing else to really lose sleep over.”To a man, the players have said Bowles has not strayed from that approach. They have praised his ability, despite all the swirling speculation, to not let any of it affect his preparation.“I can say that our minds and our focus is on the Patriots coming up this week,” left tackle Kelvin Beachum said. “We can’t worry about things going on outside our building. I think more guys are focused on making sure that they’re spending time with their families for Christmas. We don’t have time to really look at what the media has to say about what’s going on.“At the end of the day White Spencer Long Jerseys , it’s about this organization, about these players in this building.”When asked what Bowles has to say about it, Beachum said the coach has said nothing regarding his future.“He’s got us focused on the Patriots,” Beachum said. “That’s not something that is on top of mind right now. What’s on top of mind is finding a way to close out games. We’ll handle the rest when the season is over.”NOTES: After blasting officials for calling so many penalties on his team, included 16 accepted for a franchise-record 172 yards, Bowles said he had nothing more to add. “I said what I said, I meant everything I said,” Bowles said. “I’m done with it.” … Bowles said WR Jermaine Kearse injured an Achilles tendon and was going for X-rays. He had four catches for 55 yards before leaving against Green Bay. … WR Quincy Enunwa appears likely to end the season having missed the final three games with an ankle injury. When asked about Enunwa’s chances of playing at New England, Bowles said: “Slim. I haven’t talked to him yet, but I would say slim.” … Beachum and his family were treating people to lunch in his hometown of Mexia, Texas, to celebrate Christmas. Although Beachum can’t join them, he invited residents to stop by a local chicken and catfish eatery for a meal “to show holiday love to my hometown.”

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got the best of their division

rival New Orleans Saints in Week 1 Jordan Whitehead Jersey , shocking the entire league with a 48-40 win. Both team’s seasons have taken drastic turns since that game. Tampa Bay currently sits at 5-7 on the season and the Saints are 10-2, but that doesn’t mean the intensity will be absent from the field on Sunday. A win could drastically alter the course of the season for the Bucs. Can they get it done?OverviewAll-time series: The Saints lead 32-21 all-time. The Bucs are 9-14 at home and 12-18 on the road. Longest win streak: New Orleans won seven in a row from 2011-2014.Largest victory: Tampa Bay was shutout by a score of 41-0 back in 2012. 2018 offensive and defensive rankings: Tampa Bay is still the top offense in the league (1st pass, 26th run) and still sits at 27th in total defense (28th pass, 21st run). New Orleans has the league’s sixth best offense (12th pass, 9th run) and the 16th best defense (30th pass, 1st run).Carl Nassib should make his share of plays todayChuck Cook-USA TODAY SportsWhat to Watch forMike Evans vs. Marshon Lattimore, Part 4: Both players have gotten the best of each other since Lattimore arrived in the NFL last year. Who will prevail today?Tampa Bay’s and New Orleans’ pass rush: The Saints and Bucs are the top two teams in the league when it comes to creating pressure since Week 7. The Bucs’ secondary: It’s a little bit healthier this week, but the banged up unit will be key to today’s matchupNo turnovers: Outside of a very questionable call against Peyton Barber last week, the Bucs haven’t committed a single turnover the past two weeks. Impact PlayersTampa BayQB Jameis Winston: It starts and ends here for Tampa Bay. WR Mike Evans: He will be leaned on again with Desean Jackson out. TE Cameron Brate: I have a feeling Brate will be used in a big way today.DE Jason Pierre-Paul: Pierre-Paul has been a stud this season and the Bucs need him to keep it up today.DE Carl Nassib: How do the Browns feel right now? Nassib is a perfect for this defense and should have another good day.DB Andrew Adams: With multiple injuries in the secondary, Tampa Bay will need another big performance from Adams. Andrew Adams stepped up in a big way against the Panthers.Kim Klement-USA TODAY SportsNew OrleansQB Drew Brees: Do I really need to explain?RB Alvin Kamara: Do I really need to explain, again?RB Mark Ingram: Ok, I’ll elaborate here. The Bucs’ run defense has been garbage lately. Expect the Saints to pound the rock. DE Cameron Jordan: The Saints’ defensive end is picking it up and that’s never a good thing for opposing offensive tackles. LB Demario Davis: He’s been everything New Orleans hoped for when they signed him during the offseason. DB Marshon Lattimore: He will be one of the main factors in stopping Tampa Bay’s passing attackDrew Brees will be ready to bounce back after a bad game in Dallas.Chuck Cook-USA TODAY SportsCool StatsSince Week 7, the Buccaneers rank second in the NFL in sacks, tied for third in third-down percentage allowed and 10th in passing yards allowed per game during that span.WR Adam Humphries had his first career multi-touchdown game in Week 9 at Carolina, catching two scores. Since that time, he’s added three more touchdown catches Anthony Nelson Jersey , tying for the league lead during that span. He’s tied with Davante Adams and Travis Kelce for the lead with five touchdowns. Despite having played only 12 games, the team already ranks in the franchise’s top five in single-season passing yards and passing touchdowns, while ranking in the top 10 in total yards. The Bucs can surpass the all-time mark of 4,366 with 233 passing yards today. The Buccaneers have recorded at least four sacks in each of the past three games. With four or more sacks against New Orleans, the team will tie a team record for consecutive games with at least four sacks (also: 11/14/04 at ATL-12/5/04 vs. ATL).*stats provided by Tampa Bay Buccaneers Communication DepartmentGame OutlookWhile both teams’ outlook on the season has changed since Week 1, this is still a rivalry game in a divisional matchup. Tampa Bay knows what is at stake here and should come out ready to go. Anything is possible with the way the defense is playing right now. Add in the fact that the offense isn’t turning the ball over and all of sudden, Tampa Bay is a decent football team. If they can keep it up in those two regards, then we could be looking at a three-game winning streak. The Buccaneers have parted ways with wide receivers Adam Humphries and DeSean Jackson this offseason in a pair of moves that open the door for Chris Godwin to take on a bigger role in the offense.During this week’s league meetings, head coach Bruce Arians shared his thoughts on the role Godwin will be playing in the offense. According to Arians, it’s going to be a very big one.“I think Chris Godwin is going to be close to a 100-catch guy, especially because I think he can play in the slot,” Arians said, via the team’s website. “He’s never coming off the field.”Arians has never been afraid of a little hyperbole and seeing Godwin jump from 93 catches over two seasons to the century mark might qualify for an entry in that category. That said, there’s no one in front of him on the depth chart than Mike Evans and that should give Godwin every opportunity to take a big step forward in his third NFL season.

It’s the final portion of the offseason program before training camp in late-July. General manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan enter into Year 3 at the helm of the 49ers and their roster, still rebuilding, has several positions that are far from certain heading into the 2019 season. The competition at running back will be less about landing a roster spot and more about earning the backfield’s leading role. The locksThe 49ers signed Jerick McKinnon to a four-year, $30 million contract in March of 2018. After a promising training camp, McKinnon tore his ACL just days before the team’s Week 1 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings. The loss made drastic alterations to Shanahan’s plan for his offense. McKinnon is due $5.75 million in 2019, $5.7 of which is guaranteed. He’s expected to be ready for training camp. McKinnon’s contract and the opportunity to show his quality in Shanahan’s offense essentially guarantees a roster spot.Another competitor for the starting role will be Tevin Coleman, who the 49ers signed to a two-year, $8.5 million contract in the offseason. Coleman comes from Atlanta having experience in the 49ers’ offense under Shanahan, the Falcon’s offensive coordinator in 2016. Coleman rushed for 520 yards and eight touchdowns that year, while adding 421 yards and four touchdowns through the air. $3.25 of his $3.6 million contract is guaranteed this season, making Coleman another lock for the 49ers’ final roster. The competitorsThere’s a good chance the 49ers carry four running backs on the team’s final 53-man roster. Both Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert, although listed as competitors, have a very good shot at making the team. Breida earned the leading role after McKinnon’s injury and put on an impressive showing in 2018. He carried the ball 153 times for 814 yards and three touchdowns, adding 27 catches for 261 yards and two touchdowns in 2018. Breida’s 5.3 yards per carry was good for 4th among NFL running backs. Nagging injuries hampered Breida’s production last season, but if he can stay healthy, he’s in line for a significant role in the backfield in 2019.Mostert is the only 49ers running back that offers value on special teams, authoring several highlight plays in 2018. Mostert grew as a running back as the season went on as well. Against Green Bay in Week 6, Mostert totaled 12 carries for 87 yards. In Week 9 against the Oakland Raiders, he carried the ball seven times for 86 yards, including a 56-yard touchdown. He averaged 7.6 yards per carry on the season before suffering a broken forearm against the Raiders. Mostert may not be a major player in the battle for snaps in the backfield, but his special teams ability give him a good chance of making the roster.Jeff Wilson Jr. was promoted from the practice squad in Week 12 to reinforce the 49ers’ ailing group of running backs. With Breida battling an ankle injury, Wilson was given a significant number of snaps to close out the season. He totaled 66 carries for 266 yards and 12 catches for 98. Wilson is a long-shot to make the 49ers’ roster, given the impressive stable of starting talent in front of him. He’s a strong candidate to land on the practice squad. Undrafted rookie Austin Walter’s best chance at remaining with the team will be on the practice squad.Pending a surprise cut Bradley Pinion Jersey White , the competition at running back should be more about earning snaps over a spot. Shanahan seems perfectly content to keep four starting-caliber options after seeing his backfield decimated by injury in 2018. McKinnon, Coleman, Breida, all with similar skill sets, all have the opportunity to carve out their own role this season. Mostert’s primary contribution will be on special teams (not to be undervalued) while filling in as the backup. The 49ers’ backfield may be set, but there’s still plenty of competition heading into training camp. The team also confirmed the signing of former Rice RB Austin Walter"The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have signed LB LaRoy Reynolds to a one-year deal. The team also confirmed the signing of former Rice running back Austin Walter. To get back to a 90-man roster, the 49ers waived defensive lineman Ryan Delaire in a corresponding move. Delaire was originally signed to the 49ers practice squad on September 26, 2018 and was promoted to San Francisco’s active roster on October 6, 2018. He appeared in one game prior to being waived on October 15. Delaire re-signed to the team’s practice squad on October 17 and was promoted to the active roster on December 29, 2018.We spoke about Walter yesterday. Here’s the press release from the team on Reynolds:Reynolds (6-1, 240) originally signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent on May 3, 2013. Over the past six seasons with the Jaguars (2013-15), Chicago Bears (2015), Atlanta Falcons (2016-17) and Philadelphia Eagles (2018), he has appeared in 84 games (seven starts) and registered 59 tackles, two fumble recoveries and one pass defensed on defense to go along with 43 tackles and two fumble recoveries on special teams. He also appeared in seven career postseason contests and registered one tackle on defense as well as four tackles and two fumble recoveries on special teams. In 2018 with Philadelphia, he appeared in all 16 games and ranked second on the team with nine tackles on special teams. He also appeared in two postseason games and registered one tackle on both defense and special teams. A 28-year-old native of Norfolk, VA, Reynolds spent four seasons (2009-12) at the University of Virginia. With the Cavaliers, he appeared in 45 games and earned All-ACC Honorable Mention honors as a senior in 2012 after finishing with 90 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, four passes defensed and 1.0 sack.

Special teams miscues were the difference for the Lions today.

Detroit had a botched snap on an extra point and a missed 48-yard field goal by Matt Prater Eddie Yarbrough Jerseys 2019 , two very costly mistakes in a game they would go on to lose, 14-13.Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen only gained 16 yards on the ground, but he scored a rushing touchdown, threw a passing touchdown and didn’t have any turnovers in a solid performance. Considering that the Bills’ running backs were devastated by injuries, Allen had to do most of it himself, and he did a solid job.For the Lions, wide receiver Kenny Golladay was outstanding, with 147 receiving yards, but the rest of the offense was disappointing. Detroit has had a disappointing season, and it wouldn’t be surprising if head coach Matt Patricia fires offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter at the end of the year. The loss leaves both teams at 5-9 on the season. The Buffalo Bills were not a team that had much fantasy football relevance for a good part of the 2018 NFL season. Through the season’s first ten weeks, things were bleak. The team scored 96 points over that span, a pathetic number that included a shutout and scores of 3, 5, 6, and 9. The Bills improved greatly beginning in Week 10, scoring 40 points twice and over 20 points twice more. With that overall improvement came an increase in fantasy football use for certain Buffalo players. While some old stalwarts showed signs of decline, some young players rose to success in their place. Here are the best of the best for the Bills in terms of fantasy football performance from 2018.QB Josh AllenThe rookie quarterback essentially lived a “tale of two seasons” throughout his first campaign. Before his injury, he was a fantasy football afterthought White Jordan Mills Jerseys , scoring 67.78 fantasy points over the course of four whole games and two partial ones (the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens and the game in which he was injured against the Houston Texans). He scored 27.74 of those points in one game, Buffalo’s 27-6 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3. After Allen recovered from his elbow injury, however, he came back with a vengeance. Allen scored 152.28 total fantasy points over his final six games, which more than doubled his season average prior to suffering the injury—he averaged 11.3 fantasy points per game in his first six games, and he averaged 25.38 points per game in his final six. While his rookie season was by no means a perfect one, he did show himself to be a bona fide QB1 in the season’s final month and a half. When comparing him to the other rookie quarterbacks, Allen’s fantasy season is especially impressive. Baker Mayfield led the rookies in fantasy scoring, as the Cleveland Browns quarterback compiled 254.1 fantasy points in 14 games. Allen was a close second, scoring a total of 220.06 fantasy points in only 12 games, two of which were partial contests. Mayfield finished 16th overall among quarterbacks; Allen was 21st. The next-highest scorer among the rookie quarterbacks was Sam Darnold of the New York Jets, who only managed 183.4 fantasy points over 13 games. In terms of average scoring per game, however, Allen was the leading rookie quarterback, barely edging out Mayfield (18.34 points per game compared to 18.15 points per game). Allen’s mark was good for 17th among quarterbacks, while Mayfield came in at 20th overall. By any objective measure, Allen was able to put together a great finish to his rookie season, and by using his arm (10 touchdown passes Jordan Mills Jerseys 2019 , 2,074 yards) and, more importantly for fantasy purposes, his legs (631 yards rushing, 8 touchdowns), he earned a spot on the fantasy radar for 2019.WR Zay JonesSpeaking of players who positioned themselves well for the future, Buffalo’s second-year wide receiver had a much better season in 2018 than he did in 2017. It would have been hard to have been worse than Jones was as a rookie, as he only managed to catch 27 passes (on 74 targets for an abysmal 36.5% catch rate) for 316 yards and 2 touchdowns. This year, Jones improved across the board, and while his catch rate still left room for growth, his overall numbers were far better.Jones was targeted 102 times, the top number on the roster by a long shot (Kelvin Benjamin, who only played in 12 games and wasn’t even on the roster in the season’s final month, was second with 62 targets). Jones made 56 catches (54.9% catch rate) for 652 yards and 7 touchdowns. All of those numbers led the Bills in 2018. While none of those statistics are eye-popping, they do show great improvement, and evidence of chemistry between Jones and Allen is encouraging.Jones scored a total of 137.2 fantasy points this season, and over the team’s final five games, he mixed in some great performances (multi-touchdown games against the Miami Dolphins and a garbage-time explosion against the New England Patriots) with some duds (a combined 4 catches for 33 yards in games against the New York Jets and Detroit Lions). Bills receivers aren’t usually highly-sought fantasy football commodities White Lorenzo Alexander Jerseys , and Jones definitely shouldn’t be one heading into next year. However, if the Bills add another outside receiver in the off-season, thereby allowing Jones to do damage in the slot once again, he could be a sneaky-good pickup as a possession-type with upside next year.WR Robert FosterSpeaking of players with upside, Buffalo’s undrafted rookie gem went from an afterthought on his college offense to a legitimate weapon in his first year in the NFL. Foster gained more yards this season than he did in his entire four-year career with the Alabama Crimson Tide. He had 541 yards receiving in 13 games this season, while he had 389 yards receiving in 35 games in college. He even equaled his touchdown production, scoring three times, while only falling short of his college reception total (35) by eight passes (he caught 27 this year). Among all players with at least 25 catches, Foster had the best average per reception in the league, with 20 yards per catch this season. Often, players who are dependent on the deep ball are risky pickups in fantasy football, but Foster seems to be a great developmental find on the part of the Bills. As the year progressed, his route running improved, and he did much more than just catch bombs. Foster had three 100-yard receiving games, and mixed another game of 94 yards in there for good measure. While he only scored 85.6 fantasy points on the season, the majority of his work came in the year’s second half. Through the first nine weeks of the season, Foster had 2 catches for 30 yards. From Week 10 onward, he totaled 25 receptions for 511 yards and 3 touchdowns. Heading into 2019 Lorenzo Alexander Jerseys 2019 , Foster could be a great pickup late in your draft.RB LeSean McCoyIt can’t all be sunshine and rainbows, right? The veteran running back, whose average draft position in Yahoo! leagues was 17th overall, was one of the biggest busts of the fantasy football year. If you used a second-round pick on McCoy, chances are good that you were very disappointed this season. The veteran running back set career lows in essentially all major categories. He managed 514 rushing yards, 3 touchdowns, and a 3.2 yards-per-carry average. He only caught 34 passes for 228 yards, and he failed to score a receiving touchdown for the first time since 2014. McCoy’s 110.2 fantasy points placed him 38th among running backs, right behind Doug Martin and right ahead of Leonard Fournette—who only played in eight games. While the Bills seem intent on bringing McCoy back next season, hoping for a bounce-back year with an offensive line that the team will certainly look to upgrade, it’s hard to suggest drafting McCoy in fantasy football and expecting the same kind of recovery. McCoy turns 31 in July, and he has right around 2,800 touches on his career. This kind of slowdown isn’t exactly uncommon for running backs of his age and usage, so it’s hard to see Shady producing at the same level as in years’ past.
