Week 15 NFL Team of the Week - Gordon McGuinnessOkung wasn’t perfect in pass protection White Derek Watt Jerseys , allowing two hits and a hurry from 50 pass-blocking snaps in the win over the Chiefs. He more than made up for it with some dominant work as a run blocker though and produced a 91.5 run-blocking grade in the game.big-time throw by Philip Rivers and some impressive footwork by Travis Benjamin made this play happen. First, Benjamin creates some extra room off the line, then Rivers finds him, putting the ball where only his receiver could grab it.Los Angeles Chargers need to avoid the comedown after emotional win - Ernie PadaonWe have a chance at the top seed in the AFC. In order to keep that chance Derek Watt Jerseys 2019 , then we need to keep pushing to get the wins. We need to keep rolling and let the W’s fly. We should beat the Baltimore Ravens. They are desperate for wins to stay in the playoff race and we need to keep flexing on the rest of the league.Chargers win over Chiefs akin to storybook finish - Dennis J. HassellAt the climax of this story, the elusive Scarlet (Patrick ) Pimpernel was finally captured by鈥oey Bosa? Melvin Ingram? Nope. It was young gun Isaac Rochell forcing the Chiefs to punt from their end zone. The offense promptly took a 10-yard penalty before the final drive found another gear.Chargers' Melvin Gordon eyes return vs. Ravens after two weeks out - Eric Williams"I don't want to get to the playoffs and be rusty," Gordon said. "I know Baltimore has a real good defense. It would have [been] good to hop back and knock some rust off against the Chiefs, but it's also a challenge to come knock some rust off against one of the best defenses in the league.Social Media Information:BFTB Facebook Page: Click here to like our pageBFTB Twitter: Follow @BFTB_ChargersThe Lightning Round Twitter: Follow @Lightning_RoundThe Lightning Round Facebook: Click here to like our pageBFTB Manager: Richard Wade: Follow @RichardWade You can’t keep them all..."Earlier today White Jatavis Brown Jerseys , Tom Pelissero pf NFL Media reported that DT Darius Philon agreed to a two-year, $10 million deal with the Arizona Cardinals, leaving the Chargers with just three defensive tackles on the roster. The longest-tenured of the bunch, Brandon Mebane Jatavis Brown Jerseys 2019 , was just signed back to a two-year deal although he is set to turn 35 this season. The other two, Justin Jones and T.Y. McGill, don’t offer a ton of confidence or excitement, either.Jones is last year’s third-round pick out of North Carolina State who started slow but earned an increase in reps towards the end of the season while McGill is a 26-year old going on his sixth team White Trevor Williams Jerseys , having spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, and the Indianapolis Colts. As things stand, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that the team signs a defensive tackle prior to the draft. I’d also expect them to draft at least one Trevor Williams Jerseys 2019 , maybe two, come the end of April.

Week 4 Edition Week 3 of the 2018 NFL regular season

Now it’s time to see where all 32 teams rank. For reference purposes Black Brian Westbrook Jerseys , here is a link to last week’s NFL Power Rankings.BLG’S WEEK 4 NFL POWER RANKINGS1 - Kansas City Chiefs (Last Week: 1) - Pat Mahomes is the truth. Andy Reid’s team is averaging 39.3 points per game so far. Not going to be easy to defend against this formidable mix of talent and coaching. 2 - Los Angeles Rams (LW: 2) - The Rams have rolled through their first three opponents. They stand alone at the top of the NFC at 3-0. 3 - Philadelphia Eagles (LW: 7) - Forget the ugliness of the win, Carson Wentz is back and that’s great news for the outlook of the reigning Super Bowl champions. Philadelphia’s defensive success at home is also going to make the team tough to beat for at least eight games.4 - Miami Dolphins (LW: 19) - Well, I don’t think the Dolphins have beaten anyone really great, but here they are at 3-0 and on top of the AFC East. 5 - New Orleans Saints (LW: 10) - This defense isn’t good but the Saints can still score a lot of points at will.6 - Jacksonville Jaguars (LW: 5) - The Jags only lost by three points to a division rival so they’re not due for a big drop. But it’s not the best when your starting quarterback gets outplayed by a guy who doesn’t have feeling in his fingers and only played because the starter got hurt. 7 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (LW: 6) - Ryan Fitzpatrick came back to earth this week by throwing three interceptions. He also became the first player in NFL history to throw for 400+ yards in three consecutive games. The Bucs lost but their late comeback attempt showed they’re still dangerous. 8 - Atlanta Falcons (LW: 9) - The Falcons lost but they came close to winning. They’ve bounced back since a poor Week 1 offensive performance in Philly. Unfortunately for Atlanta, they’re getting hit hard with key injuries. 9 - Carolina Panthers (LW: 12) - Quality win for the Panthers to beat a solid Cincy team.10 - Green Bay Packers (LW: 3) - Aaron Rodgers’ injury limitations were on display against Washington. Green Bay is vulnerable when he’s not able to carry the team. 11 - Washington Redskins (LW: 23) - Wrote this about Washington prior to their win on Sunday: “I think it’d be very Washington of Washington to win this game after somewhat inexplicably losing at home to the Colts but I’m not going to just count on that.” Well, I should have counted on it. High variance team early on this season. Hard to rank.12 - New England Patriots (LW: 8) - It’s probably too early to say for sure that the Eagles ended the Patriots dynasty, but yes, that’s exactly what’s happening here. 13 - Chicago Bears (LW: 15) - I go back to what I said last week: I’m buying Chicago’s defense but I’m selling Mitchell Trubisky. He hasn’t been good. 14 - Pittsburgh Steelers (LW: 18) - Finding themselves in a must-win spot, the Steelers got the job done against a hot Tampa team. Pittsburgh is still last in the AFC North for now. 15 - Minnesota Vikings (LW: 4) - The Vikings entered Sunday’s game as 17-point home favorites and managed to lose to Buffalo by a final score of 27 to 6. What an embarrassment. You Vike That? 16 - Cincinnati Bengals (LW: 11) - Andy Dalton threw four interceptions on Sunday. Not gonna win when that happens. 17 - Baltimore Ravens (LW: 17) - I have nothing interesting to say about the Ravens. They seem boringly solid. 18 - Los Angeles Chargers (LW: 13) - If it’s not Bill O’Brien, it could be Anthony Lynn who ends up being the first head coach fired this season. 19 - Denver Broncos (LW: 15) - The Broncos followed up two close wins with a decisive road loss. Case Keenum didn’t look good, which is shocking. (It’s not shocking.)20 - Tennessee Titans (LW: 24) - I don’t think the Titans are actually good but I do think they’re not terrible. They’re 2-1 and their one loss was by one possession to an undefeated Miami team. With that said, the aesthetics haven’t been pleasing and there are still some issues here. 21 - Cleveland Browns (LW: 25) - It was a small sample, sure, but No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield looks legit. I think the Browns will win a couple more games this season.22 - Seattle Seahawks (LW: 26) - Turns out that the Seahawks are still tough to beat at home. Also Earl Thomas is still really good. 23 - Indianapolis Colts (LW: 22) - Andrew Luck’s lack of arm strength seems to be a real issue. The 29-year-old is averaging a mere 5.34 yards per attempt. The Colts had to bring in Jacoby Brissett just to attempt a Hail Mary in Philly. 24 - San Francisco 49ers (LW: 14) - The Niners are 1-2 and now Jimmy Garoppolo is done for the season. That’s tough. 25 - Detroit Lions (LW: 29) - Maybe Bill Belichick Brian Westbrook Jerseys 2019 , not Matt Patricia, was the issue with the Patriots. 26 - Buffalo Bills (LW: 32) - CIRCLE THE WAGONS! The Bills are on the board after randomly destroying Minnesota. Josh Allen is out here hurdling linebackers. 27 - New York Jets (LW: 20) - Sam Darnold has shown some potential but he’s also shown that he’s only 21 years old and has a lot of growing pains to work through. 28 - Dallas Cowboys (LW: 21) - Dak Prescott isn’t good. 29 - New York Giants (LW: 30) - The Giants aren’t totally lifeless, but I’m not going to give them a ton of credit for beating a bad Texans team. 30 - Houston Texans (LW: 27) - 2018 Deshaun Watson has hardly looked like 2017 Deshaun Watson. In his defense, his offensive line hasn’t been great. That’s not a surprise considering the Texans only have one starter returning from last year. No continuity there. 31 - Oakland Raiders (LW: 28) - The Raiders really gave Jon Gruden a 10-year, $100 million contract. Lol. 32 - Arizona Cardinals (LW: 31) - The Cardinals are benching Sam Bradford after just three starts into the dumb contract they gave to him. Josh Rosen time. It’s also possible they could trade up or down, though.Stay tuned to Bleeding Green Nation for the latest updates regarding Eagles moves and others made around the league. Also make sure to listen to our BGN Radio podcasts that’ll be posted shortly after the Eagles make their picks.Day 2 reference material2019 NFL Draft: Best available players after the first roundNFL Mock Draft 2019: Projecting all of the Day 2 picks Day 2 live blog[UPDATE: 11:28 PM ET] That’s it folks, we have survived Rounds 2 and 3. I’d say that Round 3 was boring without any Eagles picks, but the evening was still way more fun than last year when they didn’t pick at all on Day 2. Howie was sure to keep both of Philly’s picks on Saturday, and are set to get back on the clock at No. 138 (Round 4) and 163 (Round 5).[UPDATE: 11:07 PM ET] The New Giants picked Oshane Ximines, DE from Old Dominion at No. 95. Not a super exciting pick, but one that should spare Dave Gettleman being the butt of a few dozen more jokes for his incredibly bad draft choices.[UPDATE: 10:56 PM ET] The Cowboys took their own Penn State alumnus at No. 90 with center Connor McGovern. And then the Vikings were on the board, and one again made a trade. That means they’ve traded picks No. 81 (Lions), 88 (Seahawks), 92 (Jets) and 93 (Ravens). So Wilbert Montgomery Jerseys 2019 , they’ve added picks No. 102, 159, 191, 193, 204, and 217 and will be extra busy now on Saturday.[UPDATE: 10:50 PM ET] The Seahawks traded up to the No. 88 pick to take linebacker Cody Barton, sending their No. 92 and 159 picks to the Vikings.[UPDATE: 10:17 PM ET] Washington added another Buckeye at No. 78, picking wide receiver Terry McLaurin. His familiarity with Dwayne Haskins should help them both transition to the NFL a bit easier, but we’re still talking about Jay Gruden, so who knows...[UPDATE: 9:46 PM ET] Ok, so a lot has happened since the last Eagles pick: The Cowboys made their first pick of this year’s draft (Trysten Hill, DT, UCF), the Dolphins traded the Cardinals for Josh Rosen Black Tommy McDonald Jerseys , and D.K. Metcalfe came off the board with the final pick of Round 2 and is heading to Seattle.[UPDATE: 9:00 PM ET] Brent Celek led the crowd in an E-A-G-L-E-S chant and announced that Philly added ANOTHER skill player, picking JJ Arcega-Whiteside, wide receiver out of Stanford. Oooohhhh I love Howie Roseman.[UPDATE: 8:45 PM ET] EAGLES ARE FINALLY ON THE CLOCK! (About time) Mike Quick made the pick for Philly and they landed running back Miles Sanders out of Penn State. This was a really, really good pick for the team who still doesn’t know whether Darren Sproles will return. Sanders had a really good combine and doesn’t have a ton of miles on his legs having played behind Saquan Barkley for a few seasons.Although, I asked him his thoughts about Wawa at the Combine and he said, being from Pittsburgh, he was a Sheetz guy... [UPDATE: 8:20 PM ET] We are now almost 1.5 hours into Round 2 and I am ALL the way over these NFL legends making picks, and also over them holding onto the picks for minutes after they are in. There are a lot of picks left, so let’s get this show on the road. Puh-lease.[UPDATE: 8:15 PM ET] The Patriots traded up for the Rams’ No. 45 pick to take Joejuan Williams, CB out of Vanderbilt, giving up the No. 56 and 101 picks in the move. And right after that, the Browns traded for the No. 46 pick from the Colts — giving up No. 49 and 144 — to get Greedy Williams...another cornerback off the board.[UPDATE: 7:55 PM ET] Eagles look good having moved up to take Andre Dillard, the first round was DL heavy, but there’s been a run on offensive tackles/guards through the first 10 picks of Round 2. There’s also already been three trades Brian Dawkins Jerseys Stitched , so Friday night is at least staying interesting. (Although, I could do without all the legends goading the crowd with every pick, but whatever.)[UPDATE: 7:23 PM ET] The Oakland Raiders traded the No. 35 pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars who went with Jawaan Taylor, offensive tackle out of Florida.[UPDATE: 7:19 PM ET] Round 2 starts off with a pair of CBs coming off the board. The Cardinals — who have yet to trade Josh Rosen to the Dolphins as of now — took Byron Murphy, and the Colts at No. 34 took Rock Ya-Sin. Indianapolis reportedly had a lot of trade offers, but didn’t budge and got their guy.[UPDATE: 6:58 PM ET] Hey Team! Alexis, here, and I am ready for Day 2! We’ll get to see Mike Quick and Brent Celek announce the Eagles picks, and the Giants and probably Cowboys make some (more) bad decisions. Let’s goooooo![UPDATE: 6:25 PM ET] Thread’s up! BLG here. The amazing Alexis Chassen will once again be keeping this post fresh with updates above this one you’re currently reading.

JACKSONVILLE Marcell Dareus Jerseys 2019 , Fla. (AP) — their running backs room by selecting Temple’s Ryquell Armstead in the fifth round of the NFL draft. The Jaguars chose the 5-foot-11, 215-pound Armstead with the second pick in the round Saturday, No. 140 overall.Armstead ran for 2,812 yards and 34 touchdowns in four years with the Owls. He had 1,098 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns in 10 games as a senior in 2018. He covered the 40-yard dash in 4.45 seconds at the NFL Combine, fairly quick for bigger back.He joins a completely retooled position group in Jacksonville, which fired running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley and parted ways with T.J. Yeldon, Carlos Hyde and Corey Grant after last season. The Jaguars are hoping the changes help starter Leonard Fournette become a better pro. They hired 64-year-old Terry Robiskie, who, like Fournette Black D.J. Hayden Jerseys , was born and raised in New Orleans and attended LSU, as running backs coach. They also signed veteran Alfred Blue (another LSU alum) to be Fournette’s backup and added veteran Benny Cunningham. No one would be surprised to see Armstead replace Fournette in the starting lineup one day, either.Fournette was arrested earlier this month for driving with a suspended license, his latest off-the-field issue. The fourth overall pick in the 2017 draft was injured, suspended and on the bench in crunch time last season. He also was fined, criticized and admittedly not in ideal shape late in the year. Most telling, the Jaguars voided the remaining guarantees in Fournette’s four-year rookie contract worth $27.1 million. The team made the move following Fournette’s weeklong suspension in late November for instigating a fight against Buffalo.Fournette has since challenged the decision, which could cost him up to $7.1 million.Fournette also drew the ire of personnel chief Tom Coughlin when he and Yeldon spent most of the season finale — a 20-3 loss at Houston — on the bench and disengaged from coaches and teammates.Coughlin ripped both players for being “disrespectful” and “selfish.”Fournette had a lengthy meeting with Coughlin and coach Doug Marrone after the season in hopes of clearing the air and staring anew.Dear John - From The Village Idiot Most, if not all of you, know of John Oehser D.J. Hayden Jerseys 2019 , team writer over at Jaguars-dot-com.For the rare few, John pens (or keyboards) a daily column called “O-Zone” where he answers fans questions. For those old enough to know, it is the sequel to “Ask Vic”, a Q&A column managed by the previous team writer Vic Ketchman.John’s blend of wit, sarcasm, and love of pop culture and music makes it an oasis of education and entertainment. Far be it from me to leverage the work of others for the sake of my own attempts at amusement, and in that light I take a first swing at responding to John responding to readers.Dear John,It truly is unfortunate the Jaguars organization overlooked the resume of Ron from Orlando. I can only imagine how much further this team could have progressed with Ron making player decisions. But yes, it is ironic that Ron, while applauding the team Tom Black Donte Moncrief Jerseys , Dave, and Doug assembled notes that one player has the capability to negate all of the talent on this roster. I did not realize the power Blake yielded.Yet, John, you did fail to recognize and answer the question of Blake alternatives. Why did you ignore Ron’s suggestions? Were you simply cherry picking the low hanging fruit? I would love to know your thoughts on the Tyrod Taylor option, a player who last season took the Buffalo Bills to their first playoff game in 18 years. Taylor, who the Baltimore Ravens wrongly let go, took only three years to make the Bills a first round playoff contender. But even Buffalo was not smart enough to see his talent. You know who did? The factory of NFL aptitude that is the Cleveland Browns. They saw so much in Taylor that they drafted Baker Mayfield to learn under him for the next three to four years. Why can the Jaguars not be the Cleveland Browns?Or the New York Jets, another team that took a backup quarterback in Teddy Bridgewater, seeing his ability to nurture a rookie quarterback in Sam Darnold.Wait...the Jets are looking to shop Bridgewater? Idiots.

Leonard Fournette‘s season-long struggles proved

The Jacksonville Jaguars fired running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley and three more assistants Monday night Black Lerentee McCray Jerseys , according to a person familiar with the situation. The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity and said offensive line coach Pat Flaherty, secondary coach Perry Fewell and defensive line coach Marion Hobby also were let go one day after the season finale.Wheatley’s dismissal was the least surprising. It came one day after Fournette and T.J. Yeldon were sharply criticized for being disengaged from coaches and teammates during the 20-3 loss at Houston.Coughlin ripped both players for being “disrespectful” and “selfish.” He said “their behavior was unbecoming of a professional football player.”More Jacksonville Jaguars newsJaguars LB Telvin Smith wants everyone to “stop going crazy” about his decision to retireJaguars rookie LB Quincy Williams battling to fill spot with Telvin Smith stepping away from footballJaguars LB Telvin Smith stepping away from football to focus on family, healthJaguars take chance on Murray State LB Quincy Williams with 98th overall pickJaguars continue to retool backfield, draft Temple RB Ryquell Armstead in 5th roundFournette has missed 11 games in two seasons, including two because of suspensions, and has shown little interest in being a good professional. Yeldon, a pending free agent Chris Conley Jersey , barely played down the stretch. Jacksonville also traded a fifth-round pick for Carlos Hyde, who ran for 189 yards in eight games. All four assistants had been with the team for two seasons.Wheatley’s position group was among the least production in 2018. Fournette was one of the NFL’s biggest disappointments, finishing with 439 yards rushing and five touchdowns while missing eight games.Flaherty’s line was ravaged by injuries, but he also got little out of free-agent guard Andrew Norwell. Fewell’s secondary wasn’t nearly as productive as it was in 2017 and saw veteran safety Barry Church waived late in the season. Hobby’s unit underperformed at several positions, and first-round draft pick Taven Bryan made marginal gains in his rookie year.Coach Doug Marrone also fired offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett in late November, meaning he now has five job openings heading into the new year.Marrone said earlier Monday that he didn’t want to make any staff changes based on emotion, adding that he would make sure “it’s for the right reasons and not just a reaction.” It seems that the national consensus for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2019 NFL Draft is they will pick right tackle Jawaan Taylor with the seventh overall pick. Well Lerentee McCray Jerseys 2019 , there is that one..."It seems that the national consensus for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2019 NFL Draft is they will pick right tackle Jawaan Taylor with the seventh overall pick. Well, there is that one purposefully out of left field pick made that won’t happen, but by and large everyone has the Jaguars picking a right tackle. The closer we get to the draft however, and the more the consensus is a right tackle the less I think that’s what the Jaguars will do with their pick.I mentioned it before to not sleep on a defensive lineman for the Jaguars in the No. 7 spot and as we get closer the more I think that’s absolutely what the pick is going to be. The team has brought in a lot of pass rushers for pre-draft visits and interestingly did absolutely nothing in free agency on the defensive line. Compare that to say tight end where a few players were signed or right tackle where they signed two guys to compete, they did absolutely nothing on the defensive line. While I think everyone agrees that the Jaguars defensive line is good and talented, I do think people are sleeping on it’s need for fresh depth/guys who will play snaps. The team moved Dante Fowler Jr. midseason and they released Malik Jackson after the season in an expected cap cutting move. While Fowler was a disappointing first round pick, he was still a contributor to the pass rush and his contribution does need to be replaced and addressed. As for as Jackson Black Barry Church Jerseys , the Jaguars did draft Taven Bryan in 2018, but his rookie season was a whole lot of nothing.People constantly point to the 2017 season as proof of what the Jaguars defense can carry them to with even just bang average quarterback play and a solid run game. What is not being translated with that in 2019 however is that Folwer and Jackson combined for 16 sacks that season. Where is that coming from now? Are you getting that from Dawuane Smoot and Taven Bryan? I don’t think so.You also have to approach the point that Yannick Ngakoue is going into the final year of his rookie season and Calais Campbell is going to be one year older. I don’t think we will see a big drop of from Campbell yet and I do think the team re-signs Ngakoue prior to the start of the 2019 season, but these are still things you have to have in your mind. This is a draft that is top heavy on the defensive line with what a lot of people consider elite talent, so if you’re right there and one falls in your lap, it’s the perfect blend of value and need. While I think someone like T.J. Hockenson would be a fine pick at No. 7, I don’t think the gap in talent between he and whatever tight ends will be there in rounds two and three are so significant of a drop off that you have to take Hockenson in the Top 10. I feel the exact same way for Jonah Williams and Jawaan Taylor. Not to mention if it wasn’t for the Jaguars picking Taylor because they need a right tackle, I struggle to see him getting drafted in the Top 15. Is he really that good at right tackle to be a Top 10 pick?On the flip side the drop off from the defensive line from pick seven to pick 38 has a huge drop off. If you want one of the elite ones Barry Church Jerseys 2019 , you have to pick them early. Yes, I know that Ngakoue was a third round pick, but mid-round great pass rushers are few and far between. Those guys, much like quarterbacks, get snapped up quickly because they’re so important. Also, and this will probably stir up a lot of debate, but I just don’t think right tackle or tight end matter all that much. If you have a good enough right tackle and a good enough tight end Black A.J. Bouye Jerseys , you never think about them. You do not need elite players at those positions to have success. Like, can you name the best right tackle in the NFL off the top of your head? Can you name the fourth best tight end off the top of your head? It’s great to have players like Travis Kelce or Rob Gronkowski, but there’s a big pile of guys who are just fine after them and truth be told that’s all you need. In a way, they’re kind of like running back. You can find running backs. You can find right tackles and tight ends littered throughout the draft. At pass rusher, you need elite players to have success.

With this being the 100th Bears season, it would seem fitting that we rank the 100 best Bears players of all time.Soon a team of volunteers for this was formed: myself, Jeff Berckes, who was as enthusiastic as me about the idea, historian Jack Silverstein, top boss Lester A. Wiltfong Jr., Optimist Prime Erik Christopher Duerrwaechter and film expert Jacob Infante. Then it came time to work up a methodology. We decided a vote would be good, but I had to turn to Jeff, our analytics man, to concoct a weighted system that would fairly balance out our personal bias and allow for a more complete list.Creating a list of the Top 100 players in Chicago Bears history is at best an imperfect science. The top of any list will feature the game’s best, players that transformed the game or defined their position, playing at peak levels for long periods of time. After that wave of transcendence, voters may go in different directions, balancing shorter careers with high peaks against long and solid careers with no discernible peaks. Post season honors, team success or lack thereof, games and years played, championships won, and statistical accumulation are just some of the factors that can weigh into an evaluation. Only one grading principle was agreed upon at the start – players should be compared to how they performed in their era against other players from their era. In other words, a more modern player may be athletically superior to a historic player but he should only be judged at his level of competition.Development of the list was an iterative process involving ten rounds of voting. A list of eligible players was collected and added to a player pool from a variety of sources. In the first round, the WCG contributors ranked the top 15 players in the history of the Chicago Bears using their own individual evaluation metrics. The votes were scored (1st place vote = 15 points, 15th place vote = 1 point) and added together to create a raw score. A weighted average was calculated by taking the total score multiplied by the number of ballots the player appeared on, divided by the number of possible ballots. This weighted score was used in situations to help “break ties” where scores were approximately equal. The top ten vote-getters from the first round were recorded in their respective ranks and cleared from the player pool. The voters repeated this process for a total of 10 rounds until a top 100 list was created. After allowing the dust to settle on the list, the group deliberated on any glaring issues including whether a player was ranked too high or too low or whether or not a snubbed player deserved inclusion. After reaching consensus, mostly minor alterations were made and the list was finalized. An important note - while it was not a written rule, there were enough contributors that considered the impact of players with fewer than 3 years of service to not be eligible for this list. That means current players like Eddie Jackson and Khalil Mack will not be on the list despite the likelihood of their inclusion in a list like this down the road.We also agreed that a players’ contributions mattered to their Bears playing career only. That means that there could be no inserting of “what ifs” for players such as Greg Olsen, Thomas Jones and Orlando Pace. Each a great player, but their contributions in Chicago were short and in the case the former two, great, while the latter was great elsewhere first but disappointing here. That also means that the coaching career of Mike Ditka was not to be weighed and George Halas’ importance as owner, coach and founder were also set aside in favor of only his playing days. This means that ours differs from the Bears’ own list Gale Sayers Jersey , which includes both Mack and Jackson and could very well have Ditka and Halas higher than we do (that’s a teaser, not a spoiler). Other than that, there will be some similarities and differences. It’s not meant to be gospel. This is meant to be, as all lists are, the writers’ rankings, but we’re damn proud of this list, a LOT of emails, a lot of good debate, a lot of consensus, a lot of dissent and plenty of stats and more went into this.We wanted this list to not just represent the six of us, but the site, the fans and most importantly, the deep and rich history of the greatest and oldest professional football franchise in the National Football League. Stay tuned for tomorrow and each week after, as we reveal the list 10 at a time. There will also be more articles surrounding the list, regarding snubs, honorable mentions, players that an individual writer thought should have been ranked higher or lower, etc. It’s going to be a fun thing to fill the gap until training camp. You can check out our countdown to number one by clicking right here. Ryan Pace has a tendency to make aggressive deals. He doesn’t always make the best decisions, but his decisions are consistently guided by an understandable principle."It all comes down to Saturday morning cartoons. Younger readers might struggle with the concept, but people of my generation will remember a time that cartoons were only really available at a special time--Saturday morning. I have specific memories of waking up to be sure that I did not miss an episode of my favorite show, and I recall vividly the overwrought frustration I felt when a family trip or event like a wedding prevented me from being able to watch Scooby Doo or Thunderbirds 2086 or whatever other magical entertaining I was captivated by that year.My children, on the other hand, do not know what it means to have to ‘wait’ for a show to be available. Oh, they understand that there are rules about how much television they get to watch, and they feel their own forms of frustration, but the opportunity to watch cartoons has gone from being a rare thing specific to particular times of the week to a surplus of options, regulated only by parental discipline.Opportunity, in other words, has lost its meaning to my children when it comes to cartoons. There are NFL fans who also fail to appreciate opportunity.Opportunity in the draftIt’s mock draft season, and while the Bears are more or less “out” of mock drafts this year http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-mike-singletary-jersey , it’s still easy to find fans of almost every team suggesting a dozen trades, where somehow a sixth-rounder, a future fourth-rounder, and a veteran backup guard are flipped and maneuvered into a pair of third-round picks that snag an all-star running back and an edge rusher who will probably be gone by Pick #40, anyway. Why do fans believe that this is what can and should happen? Because they read on a chart somewhere that it is possible, or out of 100 iterations of a draft simulator programmed to keep things exciting, they were offered a similar trade at least one time. They assume that ‘vaguely possible’ means the opportunity is always there. Over the years, I have leveled many criticisms at Ryan Pace, but the one thing that is obvious about him is that he understands the cost of opportunity.Let’s look at Ryan Pace’s most famous deal, the maneuvering to get Mitchell Trubisky. A rational fan (if that’s not an oxymoron) will admit that the verdict is still out on Trubisky. However, Ryan Pace did not “give up” three picks to draft Trubisky. Instead, he paid three picks (a third, a fourth, and a future third) to either guarantee the opportunity to make the selection or to deny others the same chance. To put it another way, if I am crossing my home state of South Dakota and I find my car running low on fuel, I might find myself stopping at a gas station on a highway (likely the only gas station around on that stretch of highway) and paying whatever number happens to be on the pump. I might pay more than I would have had I planned ahead and filled my tank where I knew there was cheaper gas, and I will almost certainly pay more than if I waited until I reached my destination and had a choice of stations in competition for my business. Any halfway competent student of economics understands that I am not just paying for the fuel itself. Instead, I am paying for the opportunity to have access to fuel when I want or need it, under the conditions I want it. This, in turn, rewards the owner of the gas station who planned ahead for how others would value that situation and so on. Back to Ryan Pace--he believed that there were only a couple of stations that sold the grade of fuel the Bears needed. He wanted to be sure he got the best available fuel. He then paid what he needed to pay to guarantee himself that opportunity. Critics will say he should have waited to see if he even needed to pay the increased price (i.e. maybe the next exit would have had fancy no-look pumps available). I have made that decision on road trips, only to find that the next exit is closed, or that the gas station I thought was there had gone out of business. On multiple occasions when needing fuel, I have also passed by gas stations, annoyed at the price on the pump, only to find as I have traveled that the price per gallon is higher at the next station instead of lower.Looked at through the lens of opportunity, the cost of trading draft picks makes sense. I generally agree with those who want to trade back and maximize the number of picks, because I think selling opportunity tends to get better results. However, it is ridiculous to think that opportunity should not have a cost.Consider the much simpler Anthony Miller trade. He wanted a receiver of Anthony Miller’s talent and potential, and he wanted him in 2018 Womens Dick Butkus Jersey , when he could grow with the new coach and the new system. The price of that player was a second-rounder, but the Bears did not have one to send at that moment, having spent theirs on James Daniels. The surcharge on get that ‘extra’ second-round selection (the extra price at the pump because they were at a solitary gas station in the middle of nowhere) was a fourth-rounder.Time and again, Pace pays the cost to get himself the opportunities he wants. Most mathematical models tell us he is going to be in the wrong over time. Consistently trading up is a way to lose out on value. However, if he finds better-than-expected results consistently in the draft (and that’s a big if, still), then he is leveraging opportunity well.Using the draft to buy opportunityKhalil Mack is a dominant football player, but is a single year of Khalil Mack worth two first round picks (with a bunch of other stuff floating around)? No. It’s not. How could it be, especially when that year is not being had on a price-controlled contract like a true first-round draft pick would be? Advanced analytics seemed to like the Raiders’ side of the equation, and despite the Bears’ 12-4 season, there seem to be plenty who are willing to criticize Pace’s aggression. This is so absurd it merits a painfully careful response.Pace didn’t buy a single year of Khalil Mack. When Pace traded for Mack, he was really buying the opportunity to sign Mack to a long-term contract and to deny others that opportunity. He then had to pay for a premium edge-rusher, and that was expensive (around $141 million dollars). However, the draft picks were not paid for the services of Khalil Mack. That’s what the contract was for. The draft picks were the price attached to the opportunity to offer that contract. This is where football fans traditionally want to have it both ways. They want their GM to get second-round picks for halfbacks who went to the Pro Bowl once as an alternate, but they also want their GMs to pay only a future seventh-rounder for moving up sixty spots to select the guard that the team needs.Do deals like this sometimes happen? Yes. And sometimes when you are lucky, you will pass up a gas station and find a cheaper price at a more convenient exit later on. It’s just not a guaranteed opportunity. When I was a little kid, I could have slept in and missed my favorite show. I could have hoped then that it would be on again in a rerun. However, I would have missed out on the enjoyment of seeing it that morning and of talking about it with my friends (i.e. Pace could have missed out on a 12-4 season with a new coach), and I also would have been gambling that it could be available again in the future (i.e. that another pass-rusher would be available for those picks in the future).Because of the way technology has advanced, there is no longer an urgency to getting up on Saturday morning for cartoons. Likewise, for fans who look back a year after a draft, it is easy to say “this is the player who should have been taken” or “the GM should have waited.” The reality is that in the moment, the opportunity to watch your favorite cartoon (or, more importantly, to fill your car’s tank) is not guaranteed. Pace seems to be trying to aggressively take opportunities. I do not always agree with his decisions, but it would be foolish for me to pretend his decisions ‘obviously wrong’ given what he cannot know about future chances to improve the team.

Even without Gordon White Kyle Emanuel Jerseys , the Chargers edged the Titans 20-19 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.Gordon, who entered the weekend third in the league with 466 rushing yards, was added to the injury report on Saturday. He was held out of practice a day earlier after the Chargers crossed the Atlantic for what coach Anthony Lynn said was a precautionary measure. The running back warmed up before the game, but Lynn decided that he wasn’t ready for a full workload against Tennessee and hopes to have him back when Los Angeles travels to face the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 4.“Obviously, we’re better with Melvin Gordon, but I just felt like I had to protect him today because I don’t want this to be a lingering thing,” Lynn said. “I want to get him back for Seattle and he’s got a bye week off. He’ll be rehabbing and getting healthy, and hopefully, we’ll have a full-speed Melvin back in a couple weeks.”The Chargers handed a first career start to second-year running back Austin Ekeler, who finished with 42 yards on 12 carries and also caught five passes for 26 yards.Gordon ran for 132 yards and three touchdowns in the road win against the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 14 and had surpassed 100 rushing yards in two of his last three games.Behind Gordon, Los Angeles had the league’s fifth-ranked rushing offense at 137.3 yards per game but was held to just 47 yards on the ground by Tennessee’s 26th-ranked run defense.“Frustrated,” Gordon said after the win. “I’ll be back next game.”Here’s what else we learned in the Chargers’ victory:PLAYING TO WINTitans coach Mike Vrabel said he will continue to coach aggressively after the go-ahead 2-point conversion failed with 31 seconds remaining.Vrabel has made several aggressive play calls since being hired as the Titans’ coach before this season and acknowledged that the decision to go for it was inspired in part by the team’s two-game losing streak.“I’m just trying to do what’s best for the team,” Vrabel said. “I’m trying to find a way to win a football game and haven’t done a very good job the last three weeks.”The Titans only allowed quarterback Marcus Mariota to be sacked twice after he was dropped 11 times in the 21-0 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the previous game, and Derrick Henry scored Tennessee’s first touchdown since the closing minutes of the road loss to the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 7.“Getting in the end zone was a huge step forward for us Kyle Emanuel Jerseys 2019 , but obviously, it’s all for nothing if you don’t win the game,” left tackle Taylor Lewan said.EYES ON THE PRIZEQuarterback Philip Rivers said that the victory, which moved the Chargers to 5-2 this season, will galvanize the team as it prepares to chase down the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West. The Chargers have reached the playoffs just once in the last eight seasons and narrowly missed out last year after finishing 9-7.“Everybody enjoys winning, but (this team enjoys) winning together,” Rivers said. “It’s as excited as I’ve seen a locker room postgame in a while — just the energy. It’s hard to win in this league.”SHARPER IMAGETitans wide receiver Tajae Sharpe could return from the bye week with a greater role in the offense after catching seven passes for a career-high 101 yards, including five for 75 yards on third down, on Sunday.“The more you perform and you make players, the more opportunities come your way,” Vrabel said. “Being able to convert third downs in this league is critical, and so Tajae has been a great asset for us to convert those.”Sharpe, in his third year out of UMass, missed all of last season with a foot injury. He had not caught seven passes in a game since his debut on Sept. 11 White Drew Kaser Jerseys , 2016, when he had 76 yards in a 25-16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Former Philadelphia Eagles interior offensive lineman

Go get Philly that comp pick Black Dallas Goedert Jerseys , Wis." Stefen Wisniewski is drawing some interest in NFL free agency. Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the Minnesota Vikings reached out to Wis last week. Tomasson also notes Wis is scheduled to visit the New York Jets today on Monday. In case you missed it in last week’s madness, Wis is a free agent because the Eagles declined his 2019 option worth $3.7 million. Philadelphia clearly felt he was making too much money for a backup guard/center.Wis can potentially help the Eagles one last time by signing a nice contract with another team. His new deal will likely count towards Philadelphia’s compensatory pick formula as it relates to the 2020 NFL Draft. Especially considering it seems like there’s some competition for his services. The Eagles will play both the Vikings and the Jets in 2019 so it’s possible Wis will be facing off against his old squad this season. He’d be more rootable on the Jets than the Vikings, so here’s hoping they’re the ones who offer him the biggest contract. When the New York Jets run the ball Sunday, it will be a test of their blocking against the Miami Dolphins' tackling to see who's worse. Both have been bad lately.Miami (4-4) has given up 600 yards rushing in the past three games. A defensive decline, not an injury to quarterback Ryan Tannehill , is the biggest reason the Dolphins have lost four of their past five games."We've got to be better," safety Reshad Jones said. "But there's no time to hit the panic button right now. We've got a lot of football left."The Jets (3-5) have averaged 2.8 yards per carry in the past three games while totaling 235 yards. After running back Bilal Powell suffered a season-ending neck injury in Week 7, the ground game generated just 57 yards in last week's loss at the Chicago Bears."I didn't think it was good at all," coach Todd Bowles said. "They beat us up front, and they beat us to the punch."So it looks like an even matchup: the resistible force against the moveable object. Here are things to know about the 106th meeting between two AFC East rivals sporting two-game losing streaks:TURF WARThe Dolphins are tied for 29th in the NFL in run defense. In the past three weeks Dallas Goedert Jerseys 2019 , they've allowed 164, 248 and 188 yards on the ground, with big plays the biggest problem."There is no secret. There is no magic pill," five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Wake said. "Each player has a gap or a man or a zone. You can do it right for 42 plays, and then on play 43 you're not there, and in this league they'll find that hole. They'll find that guy who's not doing their thing that they're supposed to be doing. And 80 yards later ..."The Jets' recent rushing woes come after they gashed Denver in Week 5 for 323 yards, second-most in franchise history. Isaiah Crowell had a team-record 219 in that game, but in the past three weeks he has totaled just 94 yards in 37 carries. The sputtering ground attack only increases the burden on rookie quarterback Sam Darnold ."We can't be up and down," Bowles said. "We've got to be consistent at it. If we want to throw the ball consistently, we've got to be able to run it consistently."SUBSTITUTETannehill will miss his fourth game in a row because of an injury to his throwing shoulder. Replacement Brock Osweiler has a slightly better passer rating than Tannehill Black Jerome Brown Jerseys , with six touchdown throws and three interceptions in three games.Osweiler passed for 241 yards in last week's 42-23 loss at Houston and said he's trying to play so well he doesn't go back to the bench."I had a laundry list of things after the Houston game that I want to clean up," he said. "It was really about one page of notes. We have a great coaching staff, and they took that page of notes and turned that into drills 鈥?things I didn't do right in the game 鈥?in hopes that we can correct those mistakes and make sure that they never happen again."CATCH, IF YOU CANThe Jets could be shorthanded again at receiver as Robby Anderson and Quincy Enunwa, Darnold's top targets, are dealing with ankle injuries.Anderson missed the game at Chicago, and Enunwa has been sidelined the past two games. Without both, New York struggled to get the passing game going against the Bears. Rookie Deontay Burnett, a former teammate of Darnold's at USC, led the Jets with four catches for 61 yards."You hate to see Robby go down and Q go down Jerome Brown Jerseys 2019 , but that means someone's got to step up," Darnold said. "It was cool for him to be able to step up the way that he did."FINDING THE END ZONERookie tight end Chris Herndon is making catching touchdown passes a weekly thing. The fourth-round draft pick out of the University of Miami has scored in each of the past three games, joining receiver Keyshawn Johnson (1996) and tight end Thurlow Cooper (1960) as the only rookies in franchise history to accomplish the feat.Herndon is also tied with Philadelphia's Dallas Goedert for the most touchdowns among rookie NFL tight ends with three.DEJA VUThe Jets are in a familiar spot at the halfway point, sitting at 3-5 after eight games for the third consecutive year. They're hoping to finish better than they have the last two years, when they ended up 5-11.AP Sports Writer Dennis Waszak in Florham Park, New Jersey, contributed to this report.Follow Steven Wine on Twitter: ://Steve_Wine

It didn’t come as much of a surprise and everyone just kind of accepted the report because it made the most sense. The Jaguars think they’re in “win now” mode and have a good team that was just decimated by injuries and saddled with a bad quarterback in 2018, so signing someone like Foles who is at worst an average quarterback, will push them forward. Those reports might have been a bit premature and could just have been dot connecting based on the slow market that appears to be out there for Foles, according to Mike Jones of USA Today.I mentioned when the reports surfaced that it seemed really early for reports of a done-deal coming out at the NFL Combine, even though that’s usually when the free agency rumors start to pick up and really take steam. It appeared the Jaguars were the only actual team interested in bringing Foles in, however according to Jones the likes of the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants and even Washington are interested in bringing Foles in. After repeatedly failing to find a franchise quarterback in the NFL draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars turned to free agency.Maybe the new path will yield better results.Given the lack of sustained success between predecessors Byron Leftwich, David Garrard, Blaine Gabbert and Blake Bortles Youth Will Richardson Jerseys , the bar is set pretty low for Nick Foles 鈥?even with a lucrative contract and a Super Bowl MVP trophy. The Jaguars officially agreed to terms with Foles on Wednesday , the official start of free agency and two days after the sides settled on contract terms. They released Bortles four hours later, parting ways with the third overall pick in the 2014 draft just 13 months after handing him a three-year, $58 million contract.Bortles was arguably the most ridiculed quarterback in the league in recent years. A number of players ripped him publicly, including Tennessee defensive end Jurrell Casey, Houston defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, Seattle safety Earl Thomas and Cincinnati linebacker Vontaze Burfict.More Jacksonville Jaguars newsJaguars get help for Nick Foles with signings of WR Chris Conley, RT Cedric OgbuehiIt’s official: Jaguars agree to terms with Super Bowl MVP QB Nick FolesJaguars, guard A.J. Cann agree to terms on 3-year contractJaguars reportedly agree to 4-year, $88 million deal with QB Nick FolesJaguars cut 5 veterans Will Richardson Jerseys Stitched , including defensive lineman Malik Jackson, safety Tashaun GipsonThe NBC comedy “The Good Place” took it a step further by making Bortles a recurring joke during the show’s first three seasons. One of the main characters, Jason Mendoza, is an amateur disc jockey from Jacksonville and a huge Jaguars fan. Mendoza is portrayed as a nitwit, who loves Bortles.Jacksonville will save $4.5 million against the salary cap by cutting Bortles. He still will count $16.5 million against the cap in 2019.The extra cash will essentially go to Foles.A person with knowledge of the deal said it’s worth $88 million over four years and includes $50.125 million guaranteed. It could increase to $102 million with incentives, the source said. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because neither side chose to disclose financial terms.Foles will be formally introduced at a news conference Thursday. The 30-year-old Foles went 6-2 in the regular season and 4-1 in the postseason in place of Philadelphia starter Carson Wentz the last two years. He earned 2018 Super Bowl MVP honors and became the league’s premier quarterback commodity on the market. Philadelphia opted not to use the franchise tag on Foles. He landed in Jacksonville, which had been the front-runner to get him for weeks.Bortles went 24-49 as a starter, throwing for 17,646 yards, with 103 touchdowns and 75 interceptions. He played turnover-free football in the 2017 postseason Youth Cody Kessler Jerseys , helping the team reach the AFC championship game and showing enough growth that top executive Tom Coughlin and general manager Dave Caldwell opted to sign Bortles to a new contract. The deal included $26.5 million guaranteed and left the Jaguars with little to spend in free agency. They released five veterans last week, including former Pro Bowl defenders Malik Jackson and Tashaun Gipson, to clear $30 million in salary cap space. A significant chunk of that cash will go to Foles. The Jaguars also re-signed guard A.J. Cann on Wednesday to a three-year, $15 million contract, preventing him from entering free agency.A third-round draft pick from South Carolina in 2015, Cann started 59 of 64 games over four seasons for the Jaguars. He should help provide some continuity and stability up front for Foles.Jacksonville will return four O-line starters 鈥?Cann, left tackle Cam Robinson, guard Andrew Norwell and center Brandon Linder 鈥?as well as running back Leonard Fournette. The question now is whether Coughlin and Caldwell have enough talent around Foles to make a difference.Veteran Marqise Lee will return after missing all of last season with a knee injury, and fellow receiver Dede Westbrook showed some promise in his second year. But second-round draft pick DJ Chark and second-year pro Keelan Cole mostly struggled, and the Jags have few Cody Kessler Jerseys Stitched , if any, viable threats at tight end after deciding not to pick up a team option on Austin Seferian-Jenkins.Nonetheless, Foles should be an upgrade over Bortles. The Jaguars spent a combined $95 million on Leftwich (2003-07), Garrard (2002-10), Gabbert (2011-13) and Bortles (2014-18), and never saw much of a return on those investments at the NFL’s most important position.

Bears’ fans Brian Urlacher Jerseys 2019 , this is an open thread!" from Tyler Dunne in the Bleacher Report about the dysfunction between Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and their former head coach Mike McCarthy. If not, go read it right now. I’m serious. I’ll wait.Good?Okay...Here’s the Cliff-Notes version in case you didn’t take my advice to read that article. Rodgers is a sensitive baby and a bit of an asshole, and McCarthy is a doofus that gets massages during team meetings. Who knows where the truth lies when a tell-all piece like this comes out, because not every person in a locker room will like everyone. SB Nation’s Stephen White, a former NFL player, wrote about this very thing in 2014. What you, as the reader, chooses to believe is up to you, but speaking from a Chicago Bears’ fan perspective, I tend to believe most of, if not all of it. And yes White Dick Butkus Jerseys , I’m sure the enjoyment I took from the read is guiding my judgement. Meanwhile Packer fans and Packer media-fanboys, who already have their guard up after watching their team stumble through consecutive losing seasons for the first time in 27 years, have been in full spin mode since the story broke. The rift between Rodgers and McCarthy started before Rodgers was even drafted by the Packers and when McCarthy was still the offensive coordinator of the 49ers. McCarthy thought Alex Smith was the best QB of the 2005 draft class and his ‘Niners took Smith number one overall, while Rodgers slipped all the way to the Pack with the 24th pick. That’s a Hell of a grudge.A grudge that was cancerous in the locker room and a cancer that Rodgers had no intention of ever healing. McCarthy was fired last year and is currently not coaching, while Rodgers, at 35-years old, will try to get the Packers back on track under new head coach Matt LaFleur who is just four years older than his disgruntled quarterback. And don’t think that just because McCarthy is out, that Rodgers will all of the sudden be a locker room saint. Rodgers wasn’t consulted before LeFleur was hired, in fact, it was mandated that he needed to simply accept the hire. In the article Rodgers is described as “self-entitled,” a “bad leader,” “arrogant Dick Butkus Jerseys 2019 ,” “not as smart as he thinks he is,” “passive-aggressive to the extreme,” and “real sensitive.”He has iced out younger teammates if they don’t do what he says or if they make mistakes. He selfishly was more concerned about his own stats and audibled out of running plays all the time. He undermined his former head coach and he’s never held accountable. Will a 39-year old, first-time head coach have the stroke to hold a future Hall of Famer accountable? We’ll have to wait and see. This is an open thread, but still make sure you follow our community guidelines. I’ve seen a few other articles pop up about the drama in Green Bay and they’ve all been fun to read, so be sure to not only read the one spotlighted above, but search out all the others too. Coach Matt Nagy insisted Jordan Howard remains a big part of Chicago's offense and the star running back was adamant he wasn't frustrated despite a limited role in the most recent victory."This is not going to be an offense where it's just one person and it goes through one person," Nagy said Monday. "I don't necessarily believe in that. It's great when you have everybody fulfilling different roles and it's hard for the defense when you do that."The Bears (3-1) own sole possession of the NFC North lead for the first time since late in the 2013 season, with three straight wins. Coming off a bye, they hope to keep rolling when they visit Miami on Sunday.Chicago matched its longest win streak since a 3-0 start in 2013 with a 48-10 romp over Tampa Bay two weeks ago. Mitchell Trubisky broke out with six touchdown passes 鈥?one shy of the NFL record. Tarik Cohen added a career-high 121 yards receiving to go with 53 rushing, and the Bears came away with their most lopsided victory in six years. As good as that sounds for Chicago, something else stood out: Howard's small role.He carried 11 times for 25 yards and was in on 33 of 61 plays. Howard didn't talk to reporters after that game White Mike Singletary Jerseys , and players were not available to the media until Monday."No, I wasn't frustrated," Howard said. "I was happy. We won. You see how much we won by. So there's not really nothing to complain about."With more than 2,600 yards rushing since the Bears took him in the fifth round in 2016, Howard has been one of general manager Ryan Pace's most successful draft picks. He ran for 1,122 yards last season after finishing second in the NFL with 1,313 as a rookie. But there were also questions how he would fit in Nagy's system after struggling in the passing game his first two seasons. Howard's name came up in offseason trade rumors, and Bears-related photos disappeared from his Instagram account at one point, though he insisted there was nothing to it and wouldn't acknowledge removing the pictures.Howard has shown improvement catching the ball but hasn't found a rhythm running it. With 203 yards on 64 attempts, he is averaging 3.2 per attempt. That's well below his career average of 4.5 yards.Howard has run the ball 15 times or less in three of the four games and hasn't rushed for more than 82 yards this season."Jordan understands what we're trying to do as a team," Nagy said. "And he also understands, and we've talked Mike Singletary Jerseys 2019 , that he has a major part of this offense. He has a big-time role. But if it's an advantage to us to go a different direction for that game or for that play or that series, we're going to do that."It's hard to argue with what the Bears did against Tampa Bay. They saw an opening against a banged-up secondary and got huge games from Trubisky and Cohen, even if it meant a light day for Howard."The majority of the games, he gets more workload than I do," Cohen said. "He understands some games are different. We felt like their secondary was banged-up, so that's what happened, we're gonna attack them."That's something they probably couldn't have done last season. But the Bears brought in more play-making pass catchers and hired an offense-minded coach after firing John Fox.They have more options now and don't necessarily need to rely on the run as much."If we want to put him in the game and use him for a certain advantage, we'll do that and that could be first, second or third down," Nagy said. "There's other times where it doesn't fit that way. It just so happened this past game that ... Tarik got more plays in regards to getting the ball to him, and he was productive. But that has nothing to do with what Jordan Howard is doing. Jordan Howard is a big part of this offense."NOTES: WR Anthony Miller (shoulder) and CB Prince Amukamara (hamstring) did light work at practice. Both players sat out the Tampa Bay game. ... The Bears placed LB Sam Acho (torn pectoral muscle) on injured reserve and signed OL Bryan Witzmann.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — When the New Orleans Saints finally found their rhythm Stefen Wisniewski Jersey , they marched one step closer to the Super Bowl. that paid off, the Saints got two touchdown passes from Drew Brees and two interceptions from Marcus Lattimore in a 20-14 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.Brees took the Saints on scoring drives of 92, 79 and 67 yards after falling behind 14-0. Lattimore clinched it when Nick Foles‘ pass from the Saints 27 deflected off usually sure-handed receiver Alshon Jeffery with about two minutes remaining. A couple dozen Saints players surged off the sideline toward the end zone in celebration, while Jeffery fell face-first to the turf in agony. "We were real calm and poised and we knew we were going to get things done," Brees said.New Orleans (14-3) will host the NFC title game next week against the Rams (13-4). Los Angeles, which fell 45-35 at the Superdome in November, will try again next week, with the winner going to the Super Bowl. The Saints' win finished off a sweep of the divisional round by teams coming off byes.Wil Lutz added two field goals for the Saints, who last got this far in 2009, when they won the Super Bowl.Philadelphia (10-8) will not repeat as NFL champion; no team has done so since the 2004 Patriots."We were going down to win, but I just felt like we beat ourselves, honestly," Jeffery said. "Hats off to those guys."Eagles coach Doug Pederson thought his team was on its way on that final drive to pulling off another stunning comeback win"It just felt like the momentum at that point was in our favor," he said. "It's been that way all season, and we felt like that sort of magic was going to continue."This was really two games in one. Philly scored on its first two drives as the Saints could do virtually nothing right."Listen http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-carson-wentz-jersey , they got off to a fast start, they're a great team," Brees said. "Nick Foles has done a phenomenal job for them. We knew it was going to be different than last time."After that opening period, it was all New Orleans, yet the resilient Eagles kept it close enough that when Lutz missed a 52-yard field goal with 2:58 remaining, they were only one-score behind.Foles, the hero of last year's Super Bowl run, got them in position for yet another late winning score — just like last week at Chicago and last February against New England for the championship. Then, Jeffery couldn't handle a second-down pass, and it was over."That's a great championship team," Saints coach Sean Payton said of the Eagles. "We remained confident."Brees had 2-yard touchdown passes to rookie Keith Kirkwood and All-Pro wideout Michael Thomas, who had 12 receptions for a franchise playoff-record 171 yards.Thomas' touchdown capped an 18-play, 92-yard drive in which the Saints actually covered more than 100 yards because of penalties. It lasted 11½ minutes."What you saw from him today is what I see every day in practice," Brees said of Thomas. "He's a big-time player who wants to be the guy to make plays."Philadelphia had the ball for more than nine minutes in the first quarter, after which the Eagles had the ball about 13 minutes and never scored.New Orleans Womens Isaac Seumalo Jersey , which routed Philadelphia 48-7 in November, gambled on its first play — and lost. Brees was a bit short on a deep pass to Ted Ginn Jr., and it was picked off by Cre'Von LeBlanc, one of several Eagles backups being used in the secondary due to injuries during the regular season."I just think we had to find our rhythm," Brees said. "I tried to take a shot on the first play. Unfortunately, that didn't work."After the first quarter, though, a lot worked for New Orleans.Foles completed all five throws on a 76-yard drive capped by Jordan Matthews‘ 37-yard TD catch . The Eagles, who quickly fell behind 17-0 in that previous Superdome loss, suddenly led 7-0.Not long after, a 75-yard drive highlighted by a 30-yard pass to Jeffery ended with Foles' short leap over the goal line for a 14-0 edge.Indeed, the visitors were in control until Lattimore picked off Foles' deep throw to Zach Ertz. The Saints showed plenty of moxie on their 79-yard march to a touchdown, faking a punt at their 30, with Taysom Hill running 4 yards for a first down. They also went on fourth-and-goal from the 2, and Philadelphia's rapidly depleting defense surrendered Kirkwood's 2-yard touchdown."When you just get that in guys' minds that we're going to be aggressive Chuck Bednarik Jersey , that we're going to play to win, it allows guys to relax and to cut loose," Brees said. With Brees finding the range and his receivers finding loads of room to roam, New Orleans crept to 14-10 at halftime on Lutz's 45-yard field goal.UGLY STARTMaybe the Saints were rusty after their wild-card bye, but they got two first downs, including one by penalty, gained 17 yards, and Brees threw an interception and had a fumble that was recovered by teammate Ryan Ramczyk in the opening period. Meanwhile, Philly gained 153 yards and scored two TDs, and Foles went 8 of 9 for 113.But Foles was intercepted by Lattimore early in the second quarter, and the Saints finally got going.NUMBERSBrees, who turns 40 Tuesday, finished 28 for 38 despite the awful start, throwing for 301 yards. Aside from Thomas, who was targeted 16 times — he led the NFL with 125 catches — no one caught more than four passes for New Orleans. Alvin Kamara had four for 35 yards and also rushed for 71 yards. Mark Ingram added 53 yards on the ground as the Saints outrushed the Eagles 137-49. New Orleans is 6-0 at home in the playoffs with Payton and Brees.Foles was 18 for 31 for 201 yards. Jeffery had five catches for a team-leading 63 yards before the game-sealing drop.INJURIESIn a span of three plays http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-herman-edwards-jersey , two starters were hurt and needed to be carted off.First, Saints defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins went down midway in the first quarter, unable to put any weight on his left foot. Two plays later, Eagles right guard Brandon Brooks hurt his right leg and departed.Several Saints players said they would be playing for Rankins the rest of the way because his season was done.Philly also lost DB Rasul Douglas in the second quarter to an ankle injury, but he was back in the second half. DLs Fletcher Cox, an All-Pro, and Michael Bennett also were sidelined at times before returning. In the fourth quarter, left tackle Jason Peters left.UP NEXTThe Saints host the Rams in the early game next Sunday, with the winner going to the Super Bowl. The Eagles have several decisions to make heading into the start of the new league year, including one about their option on defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan‘s contract for the 2019 season. They have until March 13 to make that call, but it probably isn’t going to take that long. Jernigan’s option is for an $11 million salary and a $13 million cap hit, which is why there are multiple reports that the team is not expected to pull the trigger on bringing him back. Those reports believe that the door will be open for a return at a lower salary if he reworks his deal or if he tests free agency and finds that there’s not a better option than returning to Philly. That may wind up being the case as Jernigan missed most of last season after having back surgery. In addition to figuring things out with Jernigan, the Eagles have to decide if they’ll follow through on picking up wide receiver Nelson Agholor‘s fifth-year option for $9.5 million and if they’ll approach left tackle Jason Peters about redoing his deal. Any money saved on any of those fronts could be put toward trying to re-sign defensive end Brandon Graham if that’s something of interest to the team.

Earlier in the week, ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen reported that the Philadelphia Eagles plan to use the franchise tag on Foles Jawaan Taylor Jacksonville Jaguars Jerseys , and then trade him away, with Jacksonville being the Philly’s preferred trade destination for Foles — not only keeping him out of the NFC East division, but keeping him out of the entire National Football Conference. Now ESPN is doubling down on its belief that Foles will play his home games at TIAA Bank Field in 2019. Staff writer Dan Graziano revealed his 10 NFL bold predictions for 2019, and the first prediction on the list was that the Jaguars will acquire Foles this offseason. There was a second part to this Jacksonville Jaguars Jerseys 2019 , though, as Graziano also believes the Jags will miss the playoffs despite getting their veteran quarterback. Here is what Graziano had to say: The John DeFilippo connection is one that has been made many times by both fans and media members alike. DeFilippo was Foles’ quarterback coach in 2017 when he led the Eagles to an impressive postseason run and eventual Super Bowl championship. But, whether or not there is actually any merit to this line of thinking remains to be seen. In fact, head coach Doug Marrone has already stated that DeFilippo’s hiring had absolutely nothing to do with the potential of landing Foles. Schefter also reported that the Eagles are hoping to acquire a third-round pick for Foles. Coincidently Jawaan Taylor Jersey Color Rush , the Jaguars own two third-round selections in the 2019 NFL Draft after trading Dante Fowler Jr. to the Los Angeles Rams. So, let’s open this up for discussion. Please note there are two polls below and use the comments section to talk about the potential situation. Do you see Nick Foles wearing a Jaguars jersey in 2019?

He originally signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted rookie free agent last year. The Northwestern alumnus spent timeon the Bucs’ practice squad before being promoted to their active roster in November. He was waived a couple weeks later and claimed by the 49ers. San Francisco then cut Igwebuike yesterday. The Eagles left the 2019 NFL Draft without selecting a safety so they can afford to add more depth at that spot. Igwebuike is probably just a camp body but he’ll have a shot to prove himself this offseason. The following Eagles safeties are currently under contract: Malcolm Jenkins, Rodney McLeod, Andrew Sendejo, Tre Sullivan Youth Alshon Jeffery Jerseys , Deiondre’ Hall, and Igwebuike. The Eagles also reportedly plan to sign undrafted rookie safety Delvon Randall. While discussing quarterback Carson Wentz‘s play in last Sunday’s loss to the Saints, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said on Monday that he thought Wentz might have been trying to do too much in a three-interception outing.Pederson said that quarterbacks can “begin to try to do things a little uncharacteristic of what th said he has “high expectations” for himself that he failed to reach but that he didn’t feel like he was trying to do too much. eel like I was pressing Alshon Jeffery Jerseys Stitched ,” Wentz said, via WIP. “I know late in the game, when we were down by what we were, we are just trying to make plays Jalen Mills Jerseys Stitched , trying to put up points. You can call that pressing, but really we are just trying to make plays, trying to fight. That led to a couple turnovers. Those are things you have to clean up, be smart about when you force those.
The Philadelphia Eagles made a statement last Octobe

Carolina on the road in Week 6.They're trying to do it again this season Black Mike Wallace Jerseys , this time at home.Despite winning the Super Bowl, the Eagles (3-3) are back to prove-it mode after a so-so start. The Panthers (3-2) are also looking to establish themselves as playoff contenders when they play in Philadelphia on Sunday."We were fortunate enough to come away way with a victory on the road," Eagles coach Doug Pederson said about a 28-23 win in a Thursday night game on Oct. 12, 2017. "This year, it's no different. Two good football teams. Two aggressive style defenses. So it's going to have to be a complete game if we expect to win. It's going to be a really good test for us to see where we are in Week 7."Both teams were 4-1 when they met last time. The Eagles already have matched their loss total from last season but they're coming off a dominating 34-13 win at the Giants on Oct. 11. The Panthers lost at Washington 23-17."There's no reason to panic," Panthers coach Ron Rivera said. "We're just going to keep working hard and trying to improve."Some things to watch between the Panthers and Eagles:TORREY'S RETURNPanthers wide receiver Torrey Smith was a starter for the Eagles last season and caught a touchdown pass on a flea flicker in the NFC championship game against Minnesota. He said he has no hard feelings over being traded to Carolina after only one season in Philadelphia. Pederson praised Smith's leadership ability."He's a great leader. Great man, first of all," Pederson said. "He brings explosiveness, he can still run, he can still get open."CONTAINING CAMThe 6-foot-5, 245-pound Cam Newton is difficult to tackle when he runs the ball. He has 208 yards rushing and a team-high three TDs on the ground."We have to make sure we do our job," Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham said. "If you don't, that's when Cam gets out and he beats you. He's a big boy. You just have to make sure you go get him Mike Wallace Jerseys 2019 , bring him to the ground, tackle well. We have to be aggressive but play smart, too."Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins said Newton is "more of a power running back than half the running backs they have."THE BODYGUARDEagles nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters isn't expected to miss a game despite tearing his right biceps. Pederson said there's no risk to a further injury and he doesn't see a need to rest the 36-year-old Peters. Halapoulivaati Vaitai replaced Peters after the two-time All-Pro had season-ending knee surgery last season. He performed well enough to help Philadelphia win the Super Bowl.CHESS MATCHEagles All-Pro center Jason Kelce is eager to match wits with four-time All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechly."You game plan against difference makers and he's one of those guys," Kelce said. "Not only is he an incredibly gifted athlete but mentally he's as sharp as they come. He does a phenomenal job as the orchestrator of that defense."DINK AND DUNKNewton has completed only one pass that traveled more than 20 yards beyond the line of scrimmage this season. He is also averaging just 6.8 yards per completion. But Newton's completion percentage under first-year offensive coordinator Norv Turner is a career-best 65.9."When we get into the logistical things of football and what the defense is giving and what they aren't, you just can't go down and chuck the football downfield and just expect, 'Well, we didn't take shots in the game,'" Newton said. "Whatever Norv and his offensive staff calls, it's my job as a quarterback to execute it."An honest evaluation of Alshon Jeffery’s impact on the Eagles’ offense First it was his “prove it” deal worth $14 million. Next it was his extension to the tune of 4 years, $52 million. Now there’s his impact of his return on the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles’ offense. When it comes to debate, Alshon Jeffery has no issue generating buzz.As writers, we’re in an opinion business. There isn’t a single sliver of this team that doesn’t receive a piping hot take from each outlet covering the Eagles. Think about it; all off-season and even to this day we trade barbs over the fourth running back spot and third linebacker position. They barely play. Think of the heat a conversation surrounding a “WR1” will generate. The seesaw slams one on side. It slams on the other. Stats get twisted and lose all meaning. In the middle, the truth is an unrecognizable blur. And that’s when we collectively fail YOU Black Nate Gerry Jerseys , gentle reader. That’s when we let planting flags and buzz words like “elite” dominate and dilute the conversation. That’s when we invest too much time in creating narratives and counterfactuals that send the truth spiraling hopelessly into a black hole. Those words came directly to me from Dan Hatman, former Eagles, New York Jets and New York Giants’ scout and Director of the Scouting Academy. What does a player bring to the team and what does he not? Those words stuck with me. Those words force me to take off the writer hat and put on the scout hat for debates like the one surrounding Jeffery. There’s no other way to not be affected by “The Narrative”.What follows is an honest evaluation of Alshon Jeffery. This is the result of hours of work studying Jeffery from my time at the Scouting Academy and through his 2017 campaign. Each position has a group of critical factors; we’ll start with athleticism and body type and proceed by working snap-to-finish. At the end there will be a conclusion; a summation about what value Jeffery brings to the Eagles.BODY TYPE/ATHLETICISMJeffery’s tall, lean frame of 6’3” and 218 pounds comes with long 33” arms and pickle jar hands (10 1/4”) that rank in the 93rd percentile. With this combination of height and length, he has a prototype frame for contested catches and jump balls with an understanding of how to leverage his size advantage against defenders. He’s never been very explosive out of his stance and his speed builds up quickly throughout the routes with his long strides. He’s a fluid athlete for his size, but he’s high cut and his long legs prevent him from remaining loose throughout chained changes of direction.Athleticism Grade: 4/7RELEASEJeffery limits the negative impact of his long lower body with step frequency at the line of scrimmage. This shows up when he’s faced with press coverage, which he defeats regularly. He understands leverage and how to attack it, getting on a defenders toes from press or off coverage and tilting them in the desired direction. His active hands, foot quickness, and play strength are particularly daunting for overaggressive cornerbacks who attempt to jam him. He has a full toolbox to deal with these situations. In the example below, Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson clearly intended to “quick jam”; his shoulders are past his toes with a forward lean and his feet are staggered, not parallel.Jeffery processes this information and executes a single move release. First, his feet come parallel or “come to balance” by bringing his back foot up and outside. His head comes with this step to the outside selling an outside release as he simultaneously moves his outside shoulder out of reach of Peterson. Next Nate Gerry Jerseys 2019 , he darts inside and reduces his strike zone by dipping his shoulder through contact and limit its effectiveness. This happens in a flash and the route is won immediately. While Jeffery wins these types of releases regularly, he did struggle occasionally when releasing outside and vertically from a plus split (outside the numbers). This mainly shows on his 2017 tape, and it’s unknown if his torn rotator cuff played a part in his effectiveness in this regard. Pumping your arms to build up speed or using your inside arm to stave off contact through the route stem can be tough when dealing with a shoulder injury of that magnitude.Despite being stacked more frequently than in the past, Jeffery’s nuance at the line and when attacking press and off coverage have always been a staple of his game and he can be trusted to win much more often than not.Release Grade: 6/7SEPARATION QUICKNESSJeffery wins at the top of his routes not with quickness, but with technique. This allows him to be smooth throughout the break-point and snap off high difficulty cuts at high speeds. This route is great example of how technique can make up for lateral agility on a hard angle. If Jeffery reaches for the break-point with his route-side foot and gets his first step too far outside of his frame, his hips will lock. That would cause him to be disjointed out of his break and likely require extra steps to complete the turn. That’s rarely if ever the case with Jeffery. Starting with a inside stem on his release to influence the defender, he follows up by hitting his right foot at the break-point with his numbers over his knee. This is ideal. It allows him to sink with his steps compact through the cut as he snaps his chin back in concert with the rest of his body. The ability to create windows out of cuts is particularly hard for men Jeffery’s size, but he wins enough with technique for it to be considered a plus aspect of his game. Additionally, his play strength (6/7 grade) and positioning often allow him to create windows at the catch-point, which is a different type of separation but equally important.Separation Quickness Grade: 4/7FIND VOIDThis trait details a players ability to not only settle into zones, but to process information against all types of coverages and apply that to different types of routes.Jeffery finds seams not only in the middle of the field, but he also diagnoses the relationship between cornerback and safety in live action. This speaks to his play speed (5/7 grade), the combination of athleticism and mental processing. He’s able to regularly find soft spots in short-to-intermediate zones due to his ability to quickly read coverages pre-snap and post-snap.He also does well to sell run looks or smoke routes and dart to space Black Destiny Vaeao Jerseys , as evidenced by his 32-yard touchdown against the Aqib Talib and the Denver Broncos.Considering he’s had five different quarterbacks to establish relationships with over the past two years, any early chemistry issues with new quarterbacks can be forgiven and have been no issue over larger sample sizes. Quarterbacks and wide receivers need to see and process the action in unison, and the film history suggests that Jeffery works hard to cultivate that understanding.Find Void Grade: 6/7HANDSThere are two ways to look at Jeffery’s consistency as a pass catcher. First, there’s the often cited catch rate. Last year, for the first time since being a rookie, Jeffery’s catch rate dipped below 55%, coming in at a less than ideal 47.5%. Having addressed chemistry concerns already, let’s couple that together with drop rates.Jeffery’s drop rate typically comes in around 5%, which is perfectly acceptable. Last year, including the playoffs, Pro Football Focus attributed him with a 4.2% drop rate. That ranked tied for 7th best out of 46 qualifying receivers. From the second half of the season through the Super Bowl he caught 35 of 35 passes deemed “catchable”. In summation, catch rates can be and typically are wildly misleading.Jeffery’s long arms and big mitts allow him to routinely pluck the ball away from his frame and above his eyes and his build allows him to absorb contact at the catch-point. There are some drops above his eyes and away from his frame which are few and far between. His willingness to make catches over the middle is also a big part of his game that facilities him being effective to all three levels of the field.Hands Grade: 5/7BODY CONTROLThis one is easy for Jeffery. From my 2017 report from the Scouting Academy Summer Showcase:This trait was showcased in the biggest game of his career.Body Control Grade: 7/7YARDS AFTER CATCHYou’ve heard of “get what you block for back”, meant to knock a running back for his lack of ability to create on his own or get extra yards otherwise. Jeffery is a YAC what you scheme for receiver. The physicality that permeates the rest of his game vanishes with the ball in his hands and he is content to simply fall forward for a few yards when there are defenders encroaching on his Destiny Vaeao Jerseys 2019 , to use a Madden term, “tackling cone”. Coupled with his lack of lateral agility, this is by far the worst part of Jeffery’s game.YAC Grade: 2/7SUMMARY...What does Alshon Jeffery bring to the Philadelphia Eagles and what impact does he have?Jeffery is going to bring consistent production with a potential to take over games with his contested catch ability. Life is easier for quarterbacks when he’s on the field as he makes his impact felt at all three levels and hauls in tight-window targets with high frequency. Jeffery rarely receives double coverage, but an added bonus is that he forces deep safeties to respect his presence when he’s lined up on the weak side of formations that the Eagles like to use, like trips. When you factor in his top-notch competitive toughness (7/7) after playing a full season with a torn rotator cuff, plus other factors not explicitly graded in this article, he comes in at the fringe of “starter you win because of” and “starter you win with”. That’s a high grade in a strict system that not many I have evaluated achieve. Considering the production we’ve had from the outside receiver position before and after Jeffery, and even viewing it in a vacuum, his impact on this offense can not be overstated. He’s a high-level starter that brings a significant upgrade. I don’t need any fancy labels or twisted stats to see that.
