"Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...Eagles cap space update heading into the second week of NFL free agency - BGNNow that 2019 NFL free agency is unofficially one week old Jalen Mills Jerseys 2019 , let’s take a look at how much cap space the Philadelphia Eagles have left after making some moves last week. A lot of people saw the following tweet on Sunday night and asked: “How do the Eagles possibly have this much cap space left?”The Kist & Solak Show #86: The Electric Kool-Aid Running Back Test - BGN RadioMichael Kist and Benjamin Solak assess the current state of the running back room for the Eagles, discuss the value of the position, and what the plan could be to bolster the group. PLUS potential targets in the 1st round AND an update on all the draft prospects being brought in for official visits! Powered by SB Nation and Bleeding Green Nation.Eagles Add a Safety - Iggles BlitzThis move makes a lot of sense, in some respects. Sendejo is a natural FS. When McLeod got hurt last year, the Eagles didn’t have anyone who was an ideal fit for that role. Sendejo could step in and start if needed. He has started 58 games in his career and has been part of some great defenses. You can see Sendejo’s ability in these clips. He has good range and ball skills. He can be a big hitter.Andrew Sendejo adds experience, confidence at safety - PE.comIt didn’t look like much at the time, when safety Rodney McLeod went down with an injury in a Week 3 win over the Indianapolis Colts last season. He came off the field, the game continued, all eyes focused on the 2018 debut of quarterback Carson Wentz. Turns out, McLeod’s injury was serious enough to sideline him for the remainder of the year and force the Eagles into a week-to-week exercise of mixing and matching and coming up with answers to replace McLeod. The injury to McLeod, the first of many suffered in the secondary, stretched the defensive backfield to its limit throughout the remainder of the year. So, it’s no surprise that finding depth for the safety position was one of the team’s early priorities in free agency, and the Eagles solved that need by agreeing to terms on Monday with veteran Andrew Sendejo, entering his 10th NFL season, eight of them with the Minnesota Vikings.Eagles, Patriots poised to lead the way in 2020 compensatory picks - PFTThe Eagles are likely to get a third-round compensatory pick for losing Nick Foles, and two fourth-rounders for losing Golden Tate and Jordan Hicks. The Patriots are expected to get third-round picks for Trey Flowers and Trent Brown, plus a sixth-round pick for Malcom Brown.State of every NFL team after free agency - PFFKey Players Added: WR DeSean Jackson (79.4), EDGE Brandon Graham (88.7), T Jason Peters (69.6), CB Ronald Darby (70.6), DI Malik Jackson (64.4), LB L.J. Fort (74.2) — Key Players Lost: EDGE Michael Bennett (75.1), G Steven Wisniewski (54.6), LB Jordan Hicks (76.1), WR Golden Tate (71.1), WR Jordan Matthews (65.4), QB Nick Foles (76.6), DI Timmy Jernigan (49.8).With few options at RB, Eagles might have to get creative - NBCSPThere are some borderline lead backs on the market, granted in short supply. Were the Eagles to pair the likes of Isaiah Crowell Black Ronald Darby Jerseys , C.J. Anderson or Spencer Ware with a promising rookie, such a tandem might not electrify the fan base, but it would create some semblance of stability at the position. The Eagles could even re-sign Jay Ajayi, provided he’ll be healthy. Were it not for a torn ACL, Ajayi probably would’ve been one of the top runners on the market, even with a chronic knee issue. Free agent T.J. Yeldon and Browns running back Duke Johnson have also been mentioned as possibilities, but more as potential replacements for Darren Sproles. For Temple’s Ryquell Armstead, ‘the small details are what really matters’ with Eagles’ Duce Staley watching - PennLiveAssistant head coach and running backs coach Duce Staley paced Armstead and teammates Rob Ritrovato and Nick Sharga through their individual workouts. “It was great,” Armstead said afterward at Temple’s STAR Complex. “He’s a great coach. I love what he was saying to me. The small details are what really matters, and I try to focus on that. All in all, I believe I had a good day. I feel like he liked me. It was great working out with the Eagles.” Armstead knows the team’s recent history with young running backs. Two years ago, the Eagles signed Corey Clement as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin. Clement grew up in Glassboro, N.J., and he went on to catch four passes for 100 yards and a touchdown in the Super Bowl LII win. Armstead said his Millville High team scrimmaged against Clement’s Glassboro High squad before the two found success in college.NFL Free Agency: Andrew Sendejo (and his arms) to sign with Philadelphia Eagles -Daily NorsemanSendejo was a solid safety for most of his time with the Vikings after picking up the starting spot. He’s, essentially, getting a “prove it” deal to see if he can pick up where he left off after missing most of this year. This is another loss for the Vikings, but it’s one that appears that they’ll be able to absorb with little to no problem.2019 NFL Draft: The Jaguars need to go overboard to fix the quarterback position - Big Cat CountryCould Nick Foles be the guy? Sure. Heck, you can even argue that he already holds that mantle in Philadelphia. The Jaguars certainly think so by making him the most handsomely paid free agent quarterback this cycle, and his experience in high-pressure situations and influence in the locker room makes the move an extremely logical one for a regime under duress to provide immediate results in 2019. I do not fault the Jaguars for bringing Foles in. I will fault them, however, if they don’t hedge their bets and put all their eggs in a quarterback basket that doesn’t have more than 11 starts in a season as a starter. How does the Nick Foles signing affect the division? - Stampede BlueOverall, I think this is a terrible move for the Jaguars. They could have easily drafted up to get one of the 2 stud QBs in this class or gone for next years loaded one (like the Dolphins). However, they paid the 7th highest annual salary for an average to below-average quarterback who plays well in the playoffs. Bad move for Jaguars fans, a good move for Colts fans.Dave Gettleman: Giants got “legitimate value” in return for Odell Beckham Jr. - Big Blue ViewAt the Combine a few weeks ago, Gettleman took issue with the negative narrative about quarterback Eli Manning. He did so again on Monday. This narrative that Eli is overpaid and can’t play is a crock. I’m telling you!,” Gettleman said. The GM says he is “OK” if you disagree with him about Manning, and added that with the way the Giants played at the end of last season and the salary Manning currently makes “there really wasn’t a decision to make.” Gettleman also said the Giants had considered extending or restructuring the veteran quarterback’s deal, but that they will just “keep moving.”Free agent defensive lineman Vinny Curry visiting Bengals on Monday - Cincy JungleThe Bengals have awoken from their early free agency slumber. Aside from re-signing their fourth internal free agent in Tyler Eifert this weekend, they are also hosting a veteran edge defender. Per Geoff Mosher of 973 ESPN Radio, Vinny Curry is set to visit Cincinnati at the onset of next week. Curry was most recently with the Buccaneers and was released in February.Los Angeles Rams to sign QB Blake Bortles to one-year deal - Turf Show TimesPer the official team site, the Los Angeles Rams are signing former Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles to a one-year deal to back up starting QB Jared Goff. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.A complete history of Vontaze Burfict being the most reckless football player - SB NationLinebacker Vontaze Burfict is exactly what every NFL team wanted from a middle linebacker about 40 or 50 years ago. Players like Dick Butkus and Jack Lambert had reputations as mean and scary enforcers who didn’t just make tackles, but attempted to set the tone for anybody who dared to go to the middle of the field. Highlight reels showed clothesline tackles Ronald Darby Jerseys 2019 , helmet-to-helmet hits, and boasted about the rough and tough linebackers of lore. But the best linebackers of football today are those who can channel the aggression and violence of the game without crossing the line. That’s something that Burfict has struggled with....Social Media Information:BGN Facebook Page: Click here to like our pageBGN Twitter: Follow @BleedingGreenBGN Manager: Brandon Lee Gowton: Follow @BrandonGowtonBGN Radio Twitter: Follow @BGN_RadioThe Eagles’ front four has been a buzzsaw The Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles’ front four pass rush is the life blood of the defense. It’s success relies heavily on being able to get pressure at will against even the best offensive lines. But through three games, and despite amassing 8 sacks, some are still questioning if the fellas we pay to eat quarterbacks are leaving some meat on the bone.As with any discussion like this, context is king. Opposing coordinators understand they’re outmatched against the Eagles defensive line and adjust their game-plans accordingly. They’ve also had a run of opposing quarterbacks that dish the ball quick. That’s not just being braggadocios, there’s solid data from Pro Football Focus to back up that claim.Data via Pro Football FocusAs you can see above, despite not facing a quarterback with an average over 2.40 seconds from snap to throw, the Eagles are still getting near or above 40% pressure rates. That’s right where they were last year.Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was especially quick-triggered against the Eagles. By my own charting he released the ball by the final step in his natural drop or within the first hitch on 71% of his dropbacks. That didn’t deter the rush from getting penetration but it did neutralize it by exposing a defense playing with significant cushion. The Indianapolis Colts hit with similar speed. Quarterback Andrew Luck is still building strength back in his throwing shoulder and with a lack of weapons outside of TY Hilton, the offense adopted a quick-hitting, high percentage west coast style.FLETCHER COXGoing through the different members of the front four against the Colts, Fletcher Cox had his lowest output of the year. Per Pro Football Focus, he contributed 3 pressures and a half sack, but plays like this one don’t register despite the clean win at the snap. Can’t sack the quarterback if the ball is gone in one step, everybody knows that.Cox had a solid day and was his usual disruptive self both in the pass game and in the run game. Plus, he’s had a crazy productive season, playing 54 snaps a game and contributing 16 pressures and 2.5 sacks. He wants to add hardware on his mantle, but teams just aren’t willing to take five step drops and wait for death against this unit, so it will be an uphill climb.CHRIS LONGOne of the most underrated players on this unit, Long has been a steady veteran presence with a knack for getting to the quarterback and forcing fumbles. On just 31 passing plays he provided a big boost, totaling the second most pressures (9) of all defenders in Week 3. Your browser does not support HTML5 video.Long’s been running the arc for a long time and understands how to get himself free. Notice the long arm stab with his inside pole to soften the edge, followed by attacking the hands of the lineman to free himself. This, coupled with Michael Bennett’s effective bull rush, turns the pocket into a blender that Luck is barely able to escape. The heat caused a stop on third down even though it doesn’t go in the books as a sack. He’s been the best edge rusher all season and ties Cox in total pressures (16) at the top of the team.MICHAEL BENNETTJim Schwartz loves to move Bennett around. From inside to outside, left to right, straight up rushes and clever stunts, he does it all at a high level. That type of versatility can wreak havoc, even when the offenses scheme in extra protection. In the clip below, Bennett’s lined up over the right tackle next to Long. There’s a chip on Long that neutralizes him, tight end Eric Ebron chips Derek Barnett to impact his arc, and a slide on Cox grabs the attention of two blockers at the snap.Your browser does not support HTML5 video.Chip, chip, slide and you still get Bennett one-on-one in a plus match-up agianst Matt Slauson. Luck is able to climb the pocket to space but Bennett hits his arm and disrupts his throwing motion which leads to a harmless duck fluttering in the wind. It’s a good reminder that even when the front four doesn’t get home Black Chance Warmack Jerseys , the attention they receive limits what an offense can do schematically. Ebron’s chip dictates not only his alignment, but the timing in which he can get into his route. Same for Jordan Wilkins, who gets caught up in the traffic before releasing late. That takes two potential targets out of the play. That’s two potential targets that the Colts can’t include on downfield route combinations that attack the sticks and stress defenders with multi-level concepts.BRANDON GRAHAMAssuming Graham is still fighting his way back to 100% health, his lack of splashy box score stats shouldn’t be too worrisome. He’s still fourth on the team in pressures (10), a demon against the run, and a mismatch when kicked inside against guards. Four of those pressures came Sunday, including this one.Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This is the play that resulted in Jalen Mills’ 33-yard defensive pass interference, but the main focus here is Graham moving Luck off the spot at the top of his drop. Offenses are timing based, if you can disrupt that timing as quickly as Graham does here, you’ll come out with a successful result more often than not.DEREK BARNETTAfter a quiet start to his season, amassing only 3 pressures in the first two weeks, Barnett showed up when he needed to in a plus match-up. With Colts’ tackle Anthony Castonzo out of action, Barnett worked over Le’Raven Clark throughout the game.Beyond his 5 pressures, second most for the Eagles on the day, he also added a 1.5 sacks. His half sack, shared with Cox, was a team effort.Your browser does not support HTML5 video.Much deserved props to Cox who plows his way through a double team, but we knew he had that in him. What’s encouraging from this rep is Barnett’s speed-to-power rush. Often reliant on his patented dip-and-rip, Barnett flashes a shiny new tool and it pays off. As we track his development signs like this are what’s needed, even if it’s against a backup. In the 3rd quarter with the score tied up at 10-10 and the Colts at the Eagles 17-yard line, Barnett’s snap anticipation jumping got him a big win that won’t show up in the stat sheet.Your browser does not support HTML5 video.Having studied Barnett throughout the years, 3rd quarter and at home seems par for the course regarding when Barnett gets keyed into to snap cadences. If he’s going to have the frustrating offsides penalties like he did in the first two weeks, plays like this need to hit with more frequency for it to not be a problem. It’s great that this one does come off though, because it pushed the Colts out of the red zone and they eventually settled for a field goal. One thing that can’t be questioned about Barnett is his ability to make splash plays in big moments. He did it with a strip sack in the NFC Championship Game and in the Super Bowl with a fumble recovery. Against the Colts, he pretty much secures the win on a fantastic individual effort.Your browser does not support HTML5 video.IN SUMMARY...This is all a long way of saying that if you’re concerned about the pass rush, gentle reader, it’s been there. In fact it’s never left us. Furthermore, it’s going to get better as Graham hits his stride and Barnett continues to (hopefully) develop. The addition of Bennett has masked the loss of Timmy Jernigan and the unit as whole is still carrying it’s weight. Now imagine this pass rush playing opposite an offense that is piece-by-piece and ever so slowly getting back to looking like the unit from 2017. Playing with a consistent lead can be a real boon for a front four that transforms into a wood-chipper in desperate passing situations.

Malik Jackson that he will be released Will Richardson Jersey , according Josina Anderson. I'm told #Jaguars DT Malik Jackson was been informed..."The Jacksonville Jaguars have reportedly informed veteran defensive tackle Malik Jackson that he will be released, according Josina Anderson. The move had been expected for quite some time, as the Jaguars needed to shed some cap room and save around $11 million in cap space from moving on. The Jaguars originally added Jackson as an unrestricted free agent in 2016, signing him to a massive six-year, $85.5 million deal with $31.5 million guaranteed. Some thought that the Jaguars spent way too much on a player who was a rotational played with the Denver Broncos, but Jackson had an immediate impact with the Jaguars with his highest sack total of his career with 6.5 sacks and then making the Pro Bowl in 2017 after picking up another career high 8 sacks. While Jackson’s play fell off in the 2018 season, he was still a good player on the Jaguars talented defensive line. He started losing snaps at the three-technique position to Marcell Dareus and later in the season rookie Taven Bryan. There is also some thought that Jackson played the season a little light in the pants and injured.I would expect Jackson to have a nice market in free agency and feel that he is still a very good player who can help another team, his price tag was just way too high for the Jaguars given their cap situation. The first few waves of 2019 NFL free agency have come and gone with almost all of the marquee signings off the board. The Jacksonville Jaguars added Nick Foles and brought back right guard A.J...."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Jaguars Free Agency 2016Jaguars Film RoomNFL DraftJaguars Injury NewsLatest NewsWhat are the Jaguars remaining needs?New,23commentsEDTShareTweetShareShareWhat are the Jaguars remaining needs?Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY SportsThe first few waves of 2019 NFL free agency have come and gone with almost all of the marquee signings off the board. The Jacksonville Jaguars added Nick Foles and brought back right guard A.J. Cann http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-logan-cooke-jersey , but there are still some needs the team is going to have to fill with some stop-gap free agents and draft picks.Tight endCurrently, the most glaring hole on the Jaguars roster is at the tight end position. The team currently has just Ben Koyack and Pharoah McKever under contract. The Jaguars didn’t appear to be active on the tight end market in free agency, though I did hear they had interest in Cincinnati Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah prior to him re-signing with Cincy. I think this points to the team targeting at least one tight end early in the draft, many think as high as seventh overall with T.J. Hockenson, and it would make total sense.Offensive lineI presume the starter at right tackle is going to be 2018 fourth-round pick Will Richardson or a 2019 draft pick at this point. I always figured the Jaguars would get a veteran for one of their two open spots in the line and use a rookie for the other and with bringing back Cann, right tackle is that open spot. That’s not the only issue on the offensive line the team needs to address, though. A lot of the Jaguars depth, who plays a ton of snaps in 2018, are unrestricted free agents. Currently the team no longer has Ereck Flowers Lerentee McCray Jerseys Stitched , Josh Wells, Tyler Shatley, Chris Reed, Patrick Omameh, Corey Robinson and Josh Walker. I believe all but Robinson saw significant playing time last season and make up a large chunk of the Jaguars depth at the position group. You can’t fill that all in with draft picks and undrafted players, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a handful of them back at the right price.Running backI thought the team would be in play for someone like Mark Ingram or Adrian Peterson if the price was right, and after seeing the deal Tevin Coleman got they probably should have been in on that, but they chose to pass. Currently the team only has Leonard Fournette, Thomas Rawls Womens D.J. Hayden Jersey , David Williams and Demetri Flowers on the roster. I’d expect at least three more backs added prior to training camp, likely at least one being a 2019 NFL Draft pick. The team made a huge mistake going into the 2018 season with only three backs on the active roster and I can’t imagine they’ll do that again.Edge rusherWhile the Jacksonville Jaguars defensive line overall is deep and talented, they’re a little thin at the edge rusher position. Yannick Ngakoue is really the only true weakside end they have on the roster so I’d expect with the depth in the 2019 NFL Draft class that gets addressed at some point, potentially as high as seventh overall. I don’t think there will be a veteran addition at that position, as those guys usually aren’t cheap one-year deal type players.

The 2018 Chicago Bears have been compared to the 2017 Los Angeles Rams so much this year, that it will be interesting to see this Rams team up close and personal to see where the Bears could be headed. The parallels between the two teams are well documented. Both teams were going from an old school defensive coach to a new school offensive minded head coach. Both teams invested draft capital to move up in the draft to get their franchise quarterback. Both QBs struggled through growing pain as rookies in an outdated offensive scheme. Both franchises dedicated themselves to getting their quarterbacks on track in year two.

Chargers make the playoffs White Kyle Emanuel Jerseys , and do so with a record good enough to host a game, so that the league would be forced to make a very interesting, and embarrassing, choice. I said it again after the Chargers beat the Chiefs in Kansas City in this article. How fun will it be to get a little revenge watching the Spanos family members responsible for dragging the team out of San Diego be forced to sound excited about the fact that the League is dictating to them that their “home” playoff game will be played at a stadium that isn’t their home stadium. Well apparently, this exact thing is being discussed, according to this article from Jason La Canfora. The league is reportedly worried about the AFC Championship being hosted in a 27k seat soccer stadium. So worried in fact, that they are even discussing a Sunday Night/Monday Night NFC/AFC Championship lineup in the event that the Rams and Chargers are both hosting so they can both play there and have time to reset the field. Now, this is coming from La Canfora, who has been wrong before when citing unnamed “sources” as he does here. However, in this instance, his unnamed sources even offered up a quote. “Playing a game of that magnitude in a stadium that small is a big issue to a lot of people around here Kyle Emanuel Jerseys 2019 ,” one league source said of Dignity Health Sports Park. “There isn’t any plan in place to move it now that I am aware of, but there was a lot of talk about that when it looked like the Chargers might win the division. I would expect there to be conversations about that through the weekend as things happen.”When you pair this report, with Russell Okung’s public accusation that Commissioner Roger Goodell doesn’t want the Chargers to host a game in their home stadium, it’s starting to look like more that a rumor. Early Monday morning, Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller released his latest three-round mock draft for all 32 teams. It’s definitely one of the more interesting mock drafts I’ve seen this off-season for the Chargers, that’s for sure.Is it realistic? My gut says, “Absolutely not.” But who knows. Crazier things have happened. So without further ado, here’s what the good people over at Bleacher Report gave to the Bolts in rounds 1-3.Round 1 - Pick #28: WR AJ Brown, Ole MissSo right out the gate this pick is a head-scratcher. The Chargers just used a first round selection in 2017 on Mike Williams and drafted Dylan Cantrell in the sixth-round last year, on top of signing back Geremy Davis and Artavis Scott early in free agency. With major needs on either side of the trenches plus two of their three linebacker spots White Drew Kaser Jerseys , this pick makes close to zero sense. Here is what Miller had to say about the selection:Brown’s 6-foot-0, 226-pound build is more reminiscent to a fullback than that of a wide receiver who finds most of his success out of the slot. He has some of the best intangibles in the class and those hands are something else. He absolutely snatches the ball out of the air and every time he does, I can’t help but imagine him saying “mine” under his breath. My Take: In the end, I really wouldn’t mind Brown getting the chance to catch balls from Philip Rivers, but there are just too many other glaring issues across the roster.Round 2 - Pick #60: CB Joejuan Williams, VanderbiltAgain, this is another pick at a position that just doesn’t fix any immediate need. If cornerback was the right call, Williams would actually fit the mold of the taller, lengthier cornerbacks that Gus Bradley likes to enlist in his defense. At 6-foot-4 and 211 pounds, Williams might have you thinking, “That’s just too dang tall for a corner” and you might be right Drew Kaser Jerseys 2019 , but you can’t argue with production in the SEC. As a junior, Williams was named a Second-Team All-SEC selection after collecting 61 tackles, two tackles-for-loss, four interceptions, and 14 pass breakups.Across from Hayward, Williams would be an extremely intimidating presence as he can minimize throwing windows and give opposing quarterbacks a little something extra to think about before pulling the trigger. My Take: Still so many more needs to fill in the first few rounds. Williams would be really cool to see in Bradley’s defense but this just isn’t the year to take a cornerback this early when the team has stated on several occasions that they like the young, developmental guys on the team already, like Michael Davis and Brandon Facyson. Plus Trevor Williams still has the opportunity to rebound from a year in Lynn’s dog house.Round 3 - Pick #92: QB Tyree Jackson, BuffaloThis is pick is very interesting, given that Lynn has enjoyed working with developmental quarterbacks who have tremendous physical gifts and upside. At a true 6-foot-7 and 250 pounds, Jackson ran an alarming 4.59 forty at the combine this month. His mobility in the pocket is more than apparent but that’s not solely where he hangs his hat. With one of the largest arms in the draft White Brandon Mebane Jerseys , some comparing it to last year’s first round selection of the Buffalo Bills, Josh Allen, Jackson can bide time in the pocket before launching one into orbit to a receiver 65+ yards down the field.`However, the third round is far too rich for me, even with his physical gifts. If it were another round or two later, maybe. My Take: I just can’t get behind it, especially with the first two picks also going towards positions that aren’t in the top-3 of team needs.

Chip Kelly made the call to trade McCoy at that time, but he’s long gone from the team and Jay Ajayi‘s injury could make them motivated buyers on the trade market. Certainly, if Wentz is 100% healthy and is once again the QB that we saw in 2017, this deal will have been a no-brainer. But injuries the past two years are a cause for concern, and some wanted the Eagles to wait a year to see if he’s able to make it through the 2019 season healthy before jumping in with a big money extension. However, Howie Roseman and the rest of the front office did the right thing in pursuing a contract with Wentz now and, if Wentz plays like a franchise quarterback this year, the deal will actually be a bargain.Yes, if you look strictly at the new money Black Stefen Wisniewski Jerseys , Wentz will be making $32 million a season, which would be the fourth-most at the position, behind Russell Wilson’s $35 million, Ben Roethlisberger’s $34 million and Aaron Rodgers’ $33 million a season. However, if you factor in the two years under which Wentz is already under contract (for 2019 and 2020) then it’s actually a six-year deal worth $154.7 million that would pay him an average annual salary of $25.8 million. That would make Wentz the 7th-highest paid QB per AAV, behind Matt Ryan’s $30 million, Kirk Cousins’ $28 million, and Jimmy Garoppolo’s $27.5 million. That’s right, Carson Wentz is making less per year than Kirk Cousins and Jimmy Garoppolo. The other reason to get the deal done now is that it allowed the Eagles to set the bar before the Cowboys give Dak Prescott his extension and before the Rams sign Jared Goff. Both players are expected to get north of $30 million a season Stefen Wisniewski Jerseys 2019 , and had they gone first, the Eagles would have almost certainly had to go over their numbers.Goff has had two solid years in a row and made the Super Bowl last year (which admittedly is something Wentz has never done) and Prescott has won two division titles and beat Wentz and the Eagles twice last year. While neither of those things means Prescott or Goff is better than Wentz (virtually every evaluator with properly-functioning eyes will tell you Wentz is the superior player), it’s highly likely Wentz will make less than at least one of these guys because they did the Eagles did their deal first.Even in a season where his play-making ability abandoned him because he continued to recover from knee surgery and a back fracture that limited him pretty significantly, Wentz still put up a passer rating of 102.2 last season, averaged more yards per game than any other in his career (279.5), had a completion percentage of 69.6% and threw 21 TDs against 7 INTs. He wouldn’t have made the Pro Bowl, but in a “down” season, with no running game to speak of, these numbers are pretty good.So Black Brandon Brooks Jerseys , I’m all-in on the Wentz extension. He’s one of the five most talented quarterbacks in the league and has already proven he can play at an elite level when healthy. Obviously, staying healthy is the big worry here, but if he can avoid missing huge swaths of time, this extension will prove to be an absolute bargain moving forward.

Here are our predictions for how a season with a quarterback who plays better than a potato and a defense that may be even better will play out:Week 1: vs. Kansas City ChiefsWin. As Alfie Crow pointed out earlier today, the first six weeks of the Jaguars’ schedule is rough. I don’t think they come out of it with more than a 3-3 record, but I think this is a game they can (and will) steal. Having a Super Bowl favorite coming to town early in the season before teams really have film on Nick Foles in this offensive scheme will give Jacksonville an advantage.Record: 1-0Week 2: @ Houston TexansLoss. I don’t think we win a single game next season on the road against a mobile quarterback. Not a single one. The Texans have our number on the road and that’s not going to change with an offense that I don’t think will be able to keep up.Record: 1-1Week 3: vs. Tennessee TitansLoss. Until we can beat them, we can’t — especially on a short week. Prove me wrong, Jaguars.Record: 1-2Week 4: @ Denver BroncosWin. You’ve got a long time to prepare against a less-than-mobile quarterback. The advantage of playing in Denver will be tough and a 4:25pm kickoff is less than idea http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-nick-foles-jersey , but I think Jacksonville gets it done.Record: 2-2Week 5: @ Carolina PanthersLoss. This defense will have no answer for Cam Newton and Christian McCaffery so early in the season.Record: 2-3Week 6: vs. New Orleans SaintsLoss. Drew Brees was one of the least sacked, least pressured quarterbacks in the NFL last year. I don’t think our defense or offense match up well against them.Record: 2-4Week 7: @ Cincinnati BengalsWin. The Bengals are a bit of a mess right now and I think the Jaguars take advantage.Record: 3-4Week 8: vs. New York JetsWin. Sam Darnold won’t be as bad as he was last season in Jacksonville, but this is another matchup that’s favorable to the home team.Record: 4-4Week 9: vs. Houston Texans (in London)Win. The Texans have never been to London and I think the more experienced Jaguars will win across the pond.Record: 5-4Week 10: BYE WEEKWeek 11: @ Indianapolis ColtsLoss. That Colts offensive line is only getting better and Andrew Luck did better than I thought he would last year. I think this is a game they get out-schemed and out-gunned, much like their last trip to Indianapolis.Record: 5-5Week 12: @ Tennessee TitansLoss. Ugh.Record: 5-6Week 13: vs. Tampa Bay BuccaneersWin. A turnover-happy quarterback coming to town? Sign me up.Record: 6-6Week 14: vs. Los Angeles ChargersWin. The Chargers will be in the middle of a playoff run but a cross-country trip to face a Jaguars team still in the thick of it and the wheels still on will be tough.Record: 7-6Week 15: @ Oakland RaidersLoss. It’s the final NFL game in Oakland and the league picked the Jaguars to play it... and for good reason. East Coast teams playing on the West Coast are at a significant disadvantage and I think this is a comfortable win for the Raiders.Record: 7-7Week 16: @ Atlanta FalconsLoss. The wheels have come off after a bad loss across the country and they’re on the road against a good Falcons team.Record: 7-8Week 17: vs. Indianapolis ColtsLoss. The Colts will be competing for a division title and the Jaguars will be playing for pride — and we know how that typically works out.Record: 7-9What do you think? Are we too pessimistic? Is another Titans sweep too cynical? Let us know in the comments below! The Jacksonville Jaguars have released quarterback Blake Bortles, a move most expected after a disappointing 2018 NFL season. Releasing Bortles saves the Jaguars $4.5 million in salary cap space with a dead money hit of $16.5 million. While it has not been announced how the cut is being applied just yet, the team can designate Bortles a post-June 1 cut, splitting his dead money between 2019 and 2020, moving the total cap savings to $9.5 million. As mentioned Jawaan Taylor Jacksonville Jaguars Jerseys , the move was expected by quite a few this offseason, despite the fact that Bortles was fresh off a new deal last offseason. Following a 2017 NFL season that had the Jaguars on the door step of the Super Bowl, the team gave Bortles a new deal in the hopes that the light had finally come on. Despite a quick start to the 2018 season, the wheels seemed to come off against the Kansas City Chiefs and never got right thanks to massive injury hits on the offensive side of the ball. Bortles was benched mid-season in favor of Cody Kessler, who didn’t fair any better Jacksonville Jaguars Jerseys 2019 , and it became clear the Jaguars were going to be moving on.Bortles was given one last start in the final game of the season and predictably it ended in disaster. He finished the 2018 season with 13 passing touchdowns and 11 interceptions, more in line with what his numbers had been through his career outside of 2015.

Arrival of the Mack: a case for earning the league’s

MVP award We’ve all likely played Mack Morrison’s song “Return of the Mack” countless times since September 1st of 2018. For anyone who was hiding under a mountain Dick Butkus Jerseys Stitched , or waking up from a night out on the town, that was the date when Bears general manager Ryan Pace pulled the trigger on securing the NFL’s top edge defender. Expectations skyrocketed for this young Bears team, and people instantly questioned just how much one player, who’s not listed as a QB, is worth. Four weeks into the 2018 regular season, Khalil Mack has been worth every single penny and draft pick spent in the completed series of transactions. Here’s the full stat-line for this Monster of the Midway: Khalil Mack’s Stats-LineStatsTotalsStatsTotalsIn comparison to other defenses around the league, Mack alone has matched, and even exceeded, totals for several teams. His total amount of sacks (5) matched the 4-week totals for both the Oakland Raiders — Jon Gruden is likely doing the walk of shame right now — and the New York Giants. The one interception he has is greater than the total for the Dallas Cowboys, and matched the totals for the New Orleans Saints Youth Bobby Massie Jerseys , Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Jacksonville Jaguars. The scariest stat has to be his forced fumbles/strip sacks totals. There are only 9 teams in the entire league who have forced more fumbles as a team than Khalil Mack has by himself. Those teams are: Cleveland Browns (6); Arizona Cardinals (5); Buffalo Bills (7); Cincinnati Bengals (5);Pittsburgh Steelers (6); Houston Texans (6); New York Jets (6); Tennessee Titans (5); and New Orleans Saints (5). Otherwise, his total either matched or exceeded the team totals of the remaining 21 teams. Needless to say, Mack has been a force of nature on this elite defense for the Chicago Bears. Let’s examine some of his best plays for the Bears thus far this season. First, let’s make a note of how Mack attacked the ball in his first official sack with the Bears. This has been a theme throughout his first four games, and a big reason why he’s the first player since Robert Mathis — helmet tip to Tonkaman for that bit — to record a strip sack in four consecutive games. That’s also a possible reason why he hasn’t been flagged for roughing the passer; can’t flag him if the ball is already stripped and on the ground. This was just a savvy play made with pure effort. Once he sniffed out the screen and noticed Roy Robertson-Harris was free, he slipped back and intercepted the ball. His high football IQ has always been on display since coming into the league as the 5th overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft. Again, he sees ball Bobby Massie Jerseys Stitched , he attacks ball. It helps to have such a high motor as he fought off a chip and a block from two separate players. Once he saw Russell Wilson slow-cocking his arm to throw the ball, Mack swatted the ball out. Mack will not be denied here on his third sack of the season. Something else that he does exceptionally well, is he gets skinny when facing multiple blockers. In this case, he first set the tackle up to over-exaggerate their kick-step, then got skinny as he merged inside, and bull-rushed the left guard. He’s fought and won against triple teams on several occasions. Another high effort play by Mack on sack #4 on the year, and his 3rd strip sack. And, again, he’s not looking for the kill shot. He eyeballed the pigskin and attacked Bradford’s arm. His energy and experience paid off as he ended the Cardinals’ chances of scoring on that drive. Asking any offensive lineman in the league to block Mack one-on-one is simply daring the league’s most dangerous rusher to make a play. And Dirk Koetter’s Bucs paid the price. First with this sack of Ryan Fitzpatrick. Koetter took an even bigger gamble with leaving Khalil Mack free to rush the passer, as he hoped the play-action off the trap would slow him down. Mack wasn’t having any of that nonsense. He swam over the pulling guard and disrupted Jameis Winston’s pass Youth Charles Leno Jerseys , turning a potential bomb into a wounded duck. And you’ve got to love Mack’s drive to go downfield while looking for shirts to block on Danny Trevathan’s interception return. Oh, and on an unrelated note, that was a nice pancake served to Winston by Roquan Smith. Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio, who’s coached up a top-ten unit in Chicago even before Mack’s arrival, has been creative in how he’s deployed his multi-role weapon. Specifically, he’s lined Mack up both as a defensive end, and as an outside linebacker. You will see Mack being asked to drop on occasion, while pass coverages and stunts are being blended from play to play. Thanks to all the success that Khalil Mack and company have had up-front, Fangio has been able to utilize his full playbook. Thanks to all the havoc that Mack has caused by himself, other defenders have taken advantage of their respective opportunities to make plays. Out of the 18 sacks amassed by Chicago Charles Leno Jerseys Stitched , Mack owns 5 of them. For the remaining 13 sacks, 9 different players have contributed. If this isn’t a season that one considers worthy of MVP consideration, then the MVP award shouldn’t even exist. Lawrence Taylor was the last defender to win MVP, which dates all the way back in 1986. Mack is on pace to recording 20 sacks, 16 forced fumbles, and 12 additional quarterback hits. It’s time to end that streak. And it’s time to be excited for the Chicago Bears again.

Last weekend Desmond King Jerseys 2019 , the Los Angeles Chargers (7-3) suffered a disappointing loss to their division rivals when they hosted the Denver Broncos (4-6). Cardinals (2-8) led by running back David Johnson. The Chargers will be without Brandon Mebane and Corey Liuget along the interior of their defensive line and Denzel Perryman in the middle of the front seven. They will likely need to put pressure on the Cardinals to throw the ball by scoring when they are on offense because they could be in trouble if the Cardinals are allowed to stick by their running game.Scoring should not be too much of a problem for the Chargers, however, as Melvin Gordon and Tyrell Williams were both deemed healthy enough to play this afternoon. They will be joined by Philip Rivers, who is in the midst of a career year, Keenan Allen, Mike Williams White Adrian Phillips Jerseys , and Austin Ekeler. They should have more than enough firepower offensively to force the Cardinals to air the ball out to keep up. Marcus Mariota and the Tennessee Titans finally are starting to show signs that some of their growing pains of learning a new offense may be easing. The quarterback had to learn his third new scheme going into his fourth NFL season. The Titans are leaning on a lot of young receivers and coordinator Matt LaFleur's experience calling plays grows with each game. The changes, along with the loss of three-time Pro Bowl tight end Delanie Walker in the opener, led to some early struggles on offense. Now Mariota is feeling comfortable enough with the offense and LaFleur to speak up when the game plan features something he doesn't like."I just feel as though I've gotten a better understanding of the offense, why we're calling certain things," Mariota said Wednesday. "Maybe why he wants a particular play against certain coverage, so having that understanding I think has allowed me to have confidence in going in and saying, 'Hey Adrian Phillips Jerseys 2019 , maybe I don't really like that. I'm not feeling that.'"Mariota said previously he might not have known how a play would look or work on the field."Having confidence in it, being in the offense a little longer has definitely helped that," Mariota said. The results might not show up in NFL rankings with the Titans (5-4) 30th in total offense and 18th averaging 18.7 points a game. The offensive turnaround started Oct. 21 in London in a 20-19 loss to the Chargers and includes a 28-14 win in Dallas and last weekend's 34-10 rout of the Patriots. In those three games, the Titans have converted 61 percent (25 of 41) of their third downs, which is best in the NFL in that span.Mariota has posted his best passer ratings of the season in each of the past two games, and he has 542 total yards passing, running and catching with five touchdowns. His lone interception in the three-game stretch came in the second quarter against the ChargersCorey Davis finished with seven catches for 125 yards against Dallas White Michael Schofield Jerseys , his second 100-yard receiving game this season. Tight end Jonnu Smith had a career-high 45 yards receiving on three catches with a TD. Even rookie Cameron Batson, who spent three weeks on the practice squad earlier this season, has had four catches for 47 yards over the past two games.Running back Dion Lewis believes everyone has gotten comfortable with each other."It's a lot of bumps in the road when you're learning," Lewis said. "You make a mistake, and you try not to make the same mistake again. I think that's what everybody's trying to do knowing what the coaches expect from them. And if they messed up something in the past, just move on forward and not make that same mistake. I think if guys do that, we can keep building on that as an offense and keep getting better."The results are easy to see with the Titans Michael Schofield Jerseys 2019 , who went through an eight-quarter drought without scoring a touchdown during a three-game skid in October. They followed up a season-high 28 points in Dallas with the best first quarter (17) and first half (24) of scoring since Nov. 13, 2016, against Green Bay.The Titans are 13th in the NFL holding the ball 30 minutes, 30 seconds per game. They're also 10th converting third downs, and they'll test their comfort level Sunday when they visit the Colts (4-5) in a key AFC South game."We've done a good job on third downs, definitely done a whole lot better in the red zone being able to score touchdowns," Mariota said. "If we can continue that White Russell Okung Jerseys , I think we got a chance to be pretty good."Notes: LB Wesley Woodyard was named the AFC defensive player of the week after 1 陆 sacks against the Patriots. ... LB Derrick Morgan (shoulder) and RT Jack Conklin (concussion protocol) were limited Wednesday at practice along with S Dane Cruikshank (knee). LG Quinton Spain (ankle), WR Taywan Taylor (left foot), G/C Corey Levin (illness) and RB David Fluellen (knee) did not practice.Follow Teresa M. Walker at teresamwalker

The Eagles will head into Soldier Field for Sunday’s Wild Card game against the Bears with at least one distinct advantage over the home team.Playoff experience is a big edge for the Eagles as they won the Super Bowl last year with many of the same players that will be in prominent roles this weekend. The Bears haven’t been to the playoffs since 2010 and the handful of players with postseason experience doesn’t include quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.Trubisky took steps forward across the board in his second season, but there will be plenty of people wondering how he’ll fare in his first taste of the postseason. Head coach Matt Nagy said on Wednesday that he wants to make sure the quarterback is heading into this new experience with the mindset he brought into Week 17 against the Vikings and the rest of the regular season.“To not change. For him to continue to do just what he does Youth Harold Carmichael Jerseys ,” Nagy said, via ESPN.com. “Don’t put any extra added pressure on himself, don’t do it as coaches. Overton was set to become an unrestricted free agent next week.Overton is in his second stint with the Jaguars after first playing in nine games for the club in 2017. He re-joined Jacksonville to conclude the 2018 campaign, competing in the final 11 games. Prior to Jacksonville, he played in all 16 games for five seasons for the Indianapolis Colts, snapping for kicker Adam Vinatieri and punter Pat McAfee from 2012-2016. To say that NFL players are stoic and detached and play in a vacuum on Sundays is to ignore the fact that, well, these are human beings playing a violent game surrounded by 65,000 other human beings shouting Black Will Richardson Jerseys , yelling, and screaming them on.That’s why it’s refreshing when one of them has the self awareness to not only observe when the relationship between fan and player is tangible, but to participate in it.When asked how he felt about the energy of the fans and players, defensive end Yannick Ngakoue made one thing very clear — the Jacksonville Jaguars players fed off the fans at TIAA Bank Field yesterday.“You could tell, when I was looking in the huddle to my left, personally, I could just see everybody was locked in Will Richardson Jerseys 2019 , everybody was ready to go. Myles [Jack] told me, he said, ‘man, get the crowd hyped,’ and I went over there and got the crowd hyped and just feeding off their energy ... It was great to just get them a win so they could celebrate as well. We’ve got to do it for the city.”Yannick also articulated what was clear to anyone who watched the game yesterday — the players had a different energy headed into yesterday’s game. It was an unbridled, bordering on angry, passion that forced a few unsportsmanlike penalties but also shut out a good offense in the Indianapolis Colts. “When I walked into this locker room this morning Black Brandon Linder Jerseys , I just felt the different type of energy from everybody. I could tell, regardless of what we were going through during the season, I could tell guys wanted to come out here and win, so that was really important to me and I was really happy and pleased to see that today.”Yesterday was a special kind of performance from the Jaguars. It was an homage to their 2017 style of play — confident, physical, and bordering on reckless.

Graham enters Sunday's game at Chicago

Whether it was earlier in his career at New Orleans or the past few seasons in Seattle Adam Shaheen Jerseys Stitched , two things were common for tight end Jimmy Graham: production and victories. Both are in short supply in his first season with the Green Bay Packers. with only two touchdown catches and the Packers with a 5-7-1 record."My numbers suck," Graham said Friday. "That's not what it's about, you know? I just want to win games. If I have one catch for 2 yards and we win, I don't care. Obviously, it's not great when you're not helping us win, and that's what I see."Graham, who has played the last two games with a brace to protect a broken thumb, has caught 46 passes for 549 yards. That's second on the team in receptions, and while the production might wind up being better than it was last season for the Seahawks, when he caught 57 passes for 520 yards, Graham also led all NFL tight ends with 10 touchdowns a year ago. With Seattle in 2016, Graham caught 65 passes for 923 yards. With the Saints from 2011 through 2014, he averaged 89 receptions, 1,099 yards and 11.5 touchdowns. While the Packers probably weren't expecting the 32-year-old Graham to duplicate that kind of production, they no doubt were expecting more than a couple touchdowns when they signed him to a three-year, $30 million contract in March. For his part, Graham was expecting to join a championship contender. Instead Youth Kevin White Jerseys , the Packers fired coach Mike McCarthy after a loss to Arizona on Dec. 2 and could be eliminated from the playoff race on Sunday."I've never lost this much, so it's obviously not something I'm used to," Graham said. "I'll never be OK with losing. I love to win. We've got to get back to that. Last week was a great step in the right direction. We've just got to do what we can control and try to keep winning."For the Packers to win back-to-back games for the first time this season, they will have to contain Chicago's ferocious defense. The Bears enter the game ranked third in points allowed and first in takeaways. Chicago linebacker Khalil Mack has 10 sacks and six forced fumbles. Along with catching the ball, Graham will be part of the plan to keep Mack away from quarterback Aaron Rodgers."In this offseason, the tight end does a lot of stuff," Graham said. "I've got a lot of responsibilities 鈥?just not running routes and out here catching the ball like a receiver. That's just how it is. I'm just trying to do my job and do what I'm told. . Obviously, we're going to play a great defense that's got a great rush. I'll be a part of stopping that rush, and that's just how it is."Graham caught only two passes for 8 yards in the season-opening victory over Chicago. He caught eight passes in the loss to the Cardinals but had only two receptions for 13 yards last week against Atlanta. He had a chance for a 57-yard touchdown reception but couldn't make the play. The brace, he admitted, has been limiting."You don't want to shatter your thumb," Graham said. "That's not great, but it is what it is."Notes: RT Bryan Bulaga, who spent most of the first matchup against Chicago blocking Mack, is doubtful with a knee injury. That means Jason Spriggs is in line for his second consecutive start. ... CB Bashaud Breeland (groin/personal reasons) and defensive tackle Kenny Clark (elbow) are questionable. Due to the death of a close friend, Breeland was away from the team on Wednesday and Thursday, according to interim coach Joe Philbin. For the first time since I took over writing these game previews a couple of years ago, I don’t have to write a short eulogy on the season and include phrases like ‘last Bears game until September’ or ‘enjoy it because a long offseason will start Monday.’That’s right Kevin White Jerseys Stitched , there will be a postseason run to talk about. The stress level will be higher and there will be no guarantee of a next week, but this will be fun. But there is still the matter of Sunday’s game to talk about. The Vikings are playing for their own playoff life and the Bears have seeding implications at play. There’s a lot of will-they, won’t-they talk surrounding the Bears as far as how hard the team will play, or how much the starters will play. It’s tough to say, but it sounds like there’s a good chance that we’ll see the starters for at least a half of the game.Minnesota VikingsSB Nation site: Daily NorsemanGame day/time/TV: Sunday, 3:25 p.m. CT, FOXRecord: 8-6-1Last week: 27-9 win over DetroitBears all-time record against: 53-60-2 (including postseason)Historical match ups: The last time the Bears won in Minnesota, it was also the last game of the season. Back in Week 17 of 2011, Josh McCown started for the injured Jay Cutler and the ineffective Caleb Hanie. Just weeks after patrolling the sideline of a high school as a coach, he led the Bears from down 10-0 early to hit Roy Williams for a touchdown.A Charles Tillman pick six and a Robbie Gould field goal were all the Bears needed to eek out a 17-13 win.Last meeting: Just over a month ago, on Sunday Night Football, fans were talking about the Bears finally having their shot at a winning football team and a shot to establish themselves as a true contending playoff team. They beat the Vikings 25-20, but it wasn’t even that close. The Vikings scored twice after the Bears were already up 22-6 to get it close.Offense: Minnesota enters Week 17 with 16th ranked offense in terms of points and 17th in terms of yards. Their passing offense ranks 10th in passing yards and fifth in attempts, led by Kirk Cousins (70.7 pct. cmp./4,166 yds./29 TD/10 INT) throwing to dangerous weapons like Adam Thielen (110 rec./1,335 yds./9 TD), Stefon Diggs (94/974/8) and Aldrick Robinson (17/231/5).They account for 22 of Cousins’ 29 TD passes, the others belong to TE Kyle Rudolph (60/615/4) Youth Bennie Fowler Jerseys , WR Laquon Treadwell (34/295/1) and RB Dalvin Cook (36/284/2).Speaking of Cook, he is arguably their best offensive weapon, but certainly their most versatile. The Vikings rank 30th in rushing yards, 27th in rushing TDs and 26th in attempts, but Cook is an effective back when he’s healthy. His numbers (122 att./576 yds./2 TD) work out to 4.7 yards per carry and his 5.4 yards per touch are a testament to his versatile game.He actually is second on the team in rushing to Latavius Murray (138/560/6) but that’s mostly due to missing five games.Defense: The Vikings defense is fierce, every bit as good as the Bears. They come in ranked seventh in points allowed and third in yards allowed. They rank third in pass yards allowed, first in touchdown passes allowed but are 16th in interceptions.Their rushing defense ranks 11th in yards allowed and sixth in touchdowns allowed.Overall they rank 15th in terms of turnovers with 20, so average, which is surprising with the playmakers thay have and their unit ranks overall.Up front they boast Danielle Hunter (14.5 sacks/21 TFL/19 QBH), Everson Griffin (5.5 sk./5 TFL/13 QBH), Sheldon Richardson (4.5 sk./6 TFL/16 QBH) and their version of Eddie Goldman in Linval Joseph (1 sk/4 TFL/3QBH/1 FF).Their linebackers are good too with Anthony Barr (3 sk./2 PD/1 FF/8 TFL) and Eric Kendricks (108 tkl/3 TFL/2 INT/7 PD/1 FF) making plays all over the place. The secondary is no slouch either with S Harrison Smith (3 INT/6 PD/1 FF/8 TFL), Trae Waynes (8 PD/1 INT), Xavier Rhodes (7 PD/1 INT), Mackensie Alexander (9 PD/4 sk./7 TFL) and Anthony Harris (3 INT/6 PD) all making plays. They have 16 players with at least half a sack, a testament to the amount of different looks and blitzes they like to throw at their opponents.Injury report: The Vikings listed eight players on their Wednesday injury report:Full participation: LB Anthony Barr (shoulder), TE David Morgan (knee)Limited: FB C.J. Ham (elbow), DT Linval Joseph (knee), LB Eric Kendricks (hamstring) Bennie Fowler Jerseys Stitched , G Mike Remmers (low back), CB Xavier Rhodes (groin), Marcus Sherels (foot)Key match ups: The front seven against Mitch Trubisky looms large here, will Trubisky be able to recognize where the pressure will come from while keeping his eyes downfield and find where the open receiver is?Picking apart the tough secondary of the Vikings will be difficult, Trubisky struggled during the first meeting, throwing two picks and leading the offense to just one touchdown. What did he learn from that game?On defense, I think the match up is the Bears’ front four getting pressure on Kirk Cousins is the biggest key. Sure, I think that shutting down Dalvin Cook is important because he has the speed and the skillset to burn the defense, but Cousins makes the whole thing work.Cousins’ struggles against winning teams and big moments is well documented. If the Bears can rattle him, like they did in the first game, then he should turn the ball over. What to watch for: Playoff seeding; will the Bears truly go all out to keep a division rival out of the postseason or will they simply just do enough to put up a fight in the first half and then cruise in the second? There are some really intriguing things at play.Key stats: Cousins’ pass attempts have dropped a bit since the team fired John DeFilippo, going from 37.4 attempts per game to 24.5The Vikings have also gotten Murray and Cook a combined 29.5 rushing attempts per game since changing coordinators. The Vikings are 0-4-1 when they lose the turnover margin, they’ve only won the turn over margin four timesKirk Cousins is number two in the NFL with three pick sixes thrown, just one behind Josh RosenCousins is also tied for fourth with nine fumbles this yearThe pick: Vikings 28, Bears 23 - Ultimately, I don’t think many Bears starters will finish this game and I think the Vikings pull it out in the end to make the playoffs. Will they try?

Hingle-USA TODAY SportsWe have some numbers for QB Tyrod Taylor’s 2 year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. Those numbers aren’t as small as I was hoping for, but that says 2 things to me. First it says that the Chargers wanted to make sure they got him and didn’t want Tyrod to consider other offers. Second, it says to me, they plan on him seeing the field this year. They are going to put together some packages for him, likely some goal line packages, and where I really really hope they plan on using him, are some packages for 4th and short. That would be great to see. Overall, I don’t think they overpaid as he will give them some flexibility with some special packages and allows them to continue building the base of the team on days 1 and 2 of the draft so they won’t have to reach for a QB. The good news is that Jeffery’s shoulder is no longer holding him back from playing. The bad news is that the illness Jeffery has been dealing with over the past few days means he’s not a guaranteed lock to play.Jeffery was a full participant in the Eagles’ Wednesday practice after being cleared for contact. He missed the next two days of practice, however, as he’s been dealing with being sick. The Eagles officially listed Jeffery as “questionable” on their final injury report. Philadelphia also promoted wide receiver DeAndre Carter from the practice squad, which might be related to Jeffery’s uncertain status. The feeling here is that Jeffery WILL play against the Titans. It seems like it’d have to be a pretty bad illness to prevent Jeffery from toughing it out. Getting Jeffery back will be very good for an Eagles offense that’s had some struggles to this point in the season. Hopefully we see him back out there on Sunday. Note that the Eagles will officially announce their inactives list at 11:30 AM Eastern. The 70th Reese’s Senior Bowl ended with a 34-24 win for the North team, but it’s not the score that matters. Over 100 players were vying for one last opportunity to make their impression on those in attendance at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile Black Brandon Brooks Jerseys , Alabama. In the final portion of a week long job interview the South scored on a 75-yard drive to open the game. The drive was capped off by a 1-yard touchdown by Temple running back Ryquell Armstead. It was set up by a 21-yard chunk gain by Slippery Rock running back Wes Hills.Boston College defensive end Zach Allen got a finger on the extra point attempt to keep the lead to 6-0 early in the first. The South began to sputter in their second drive but they got a spark when Clemson WR Hunter Renfrow brought down a prayer from West Virginia quarterback Will Grier. The play went for 34 yards and highlighted an underrated aspect of Renfrow’s game. The drive would stall after Texas defensive lineman Charles Omenihu beat Utah State tight end Dax Raymond for a 3-yard loss. Omenihu played big all series despite an incorrect hands to the face penalty early in the drive. LSU kicker Cole Tracy would extend the South’s lead to 9 points with a 33-yard field goal. The North would look to get on the board late in the first as Missouri quarterback Drew Lock led an efficient drive. He nearly hit Ohio State wide receiver Terry McLaurin down the seam for a touchdown but it was dropped. McLaurin had one of the best weeks of any prospect in Mobile, but failed to help himself on a potential score. He would come down with a contested catch on a flea flicker later in the game to help even things out.Oklahoma kicker Austin Seibert missed the ensuing 44-yard field goal to keep the North scoreless in the first quarter. Seibert would punch through a 20-yard chip shot on the next drive to inch the North closer at 9-3 in the second quarter. The score would stay that wayuntil 43-yard field goal from the South’s Tracy to extend their lead 12-3 before the end of the half.It was about as exciting as a second quarter as it sounds as Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley and Washington State quarterback Gardner Minshew failed to do anything of note. The offensive woes were made worse by a lost fumble by UCLA tight end Caleb Wilson, which summed up his week.Duke quarterback Daniel Jones kicked off the second half with a long scoring drive for the North, making it 13-10. It totaled 10 plays and 84 yards and highlighted both the good and concerning aspects of his game. He displayed a lack of velocity with some serious ducks and nearly threw an interception directly to Virginia safety Juan Thornhill. After a pass interference against Temple cornerback Rock Ya-Sin, Jones would keep a read option for a 1-yard touchdown. Jones amassed 17 rushing touchdowns in college and it remains a solid piece of his game.Charles Omenihu strip sacked Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham, which set up another scoring drive for the North Brandon Brooks Jerseys 2019 , putting them up 17-12. UMass wide receiver Andy Isabella smoked the South defense on a screen for a 19-yard touchdown.Isabella’s tiny arms and hands caused problems for him throughout the week but there’s no question about his play-making ability. He claimed to have run a hand-timed 4.26 40-yard dash and will light up the NFL Combine.NC State quarterback Ryan Finley led a field goal drive to end the third quarter that ended in a 29-yard Seibert field goal. Washington tight end Drew Sample and UC Davis wide receiver Keelan Doss got plenty of work during the series. On the day, Doss impressed with 4 catches and 55 yards. Sample built on a strong week with 4 catches and 39 yards.A late addition, Buffalo quarterback Tyree Jackson entered the game and showed a great rapport West Virginia wide receiver Gary Jennings. They connected on a 54-yard bomb and finished the drive for the South on a 10-yard slant and score. The South failed on the two-point conversion, keeping them behind 2 points in a 20-18 game early in the fourth quarter. The North quickly countered with an 8-play, 75-yard drive capped off by 3-yard touchdown run from Notre Dame running back Dexter Williams. The entire series was a dominant performance by the North offensive line, who gave them a 26-18 lead with 8:05 remaining.Tyree Jackson’s day went from good to bad on an errant pass intercepted by Delaware safety Nasir Adderley of the North. Memphis running back Tony Pollard would close the door on the South with a 21-yard touchdown run to make the score 34-18. Jackson would add a garbage time touchdown to West Virginia wide receiver David Sills V to give the game a final of 34-24 for the North.Daniel Jones was named MVP of the game because valuing the results over the process is a thing that happens with awards and really there weren’t many challengers that stuffed the box score.Additional Notes...Mississippi State defensive end Montez Sweat put together a solid drive early in the game with a run stuff and doing well to not bite on play-action. His day would come to a halt when he was matched up with Kansas State offensive tackle Dalton Risner Black Nigel Bradham Jerseys , which wasn’t a repeat of their regular season encounter. Risner’s practice week included choke-slamming Northern Illinois linebacker Sutton Smith, exchanging hay-makers with Zach Allen, and excitedly shoving Jon Gruden after a dominant rep on day one.Texas cornerback Kris Boyd had bad 2018 film, a bad week of practice, and compounded all of that with three penalties on the first two drives. He’s a long way away from his solid 2017 tape and teams will have to be confident they can get him out of a serious funk if they decide to select him.New Mexico State linebacker Terrill Hanks was up-and-down. He did well on one play to stack and disengage for a stuff, but issues with his reckless Nigel Bradham Jerseys 2019 , lunging tackling technique popped up when he whiffed on Memphis running back Tony Pollard.Western Illinois defensive tackle Khalen Saunders had an impressive day, including a club-swim sack on Grier early in the game. Showing any pass rush juice as a 320-pounder is always going to be a check in the positive column.Louisiana Tech defensive end Jaylon Ferguson finished a coverage sack on Daniel Jones and followed up by staying disciplined on a play-action boot. Ferguson accumulated an NCAA-leading 45 sacks in college but still has plenty to prove before teams will invest a high draft pick on him.USC offensive tackle Chuma Edoga continued his impressive week and showed off his athleticism once again. His block outside of the core of the formation helped spring Andy Isabella on his 19-yard touchdown.Texas A&M defensive tackle Kingsley Keke vs. Northern Illinois tackle Max Scharping was good comedy. Keke showed well enough throughout the week while Scharping should go undrafted.Offensive line dominated the day due to a lack of premium pass rushers, but Iowa’s defensive end Anthony Nelson did end up whooping the impressive Washington State tackle Andre Dillard for a sack fumble. Dillard had a very good week and this was the worst rep of his that I saw.Boston College offensive guard Chris Lindstrom began exerting his will in the fourth quarter. Lindstrom was washing guys down the line, working well in combination blocks, reaching second level targets and pancaking dudes. He worked really well with NC State center Garrett Bradbury.

Jaguars injuries aren’t ‘sink your season’ bad The Jacksonville Jaguars have hit a slew of injuries on the offensive side of the ball this week Black Justin Blackmon Jerseys , sending quite a few of fans into a panic. The team lost starting wide receiver Marqise Lee to a knee injury in the preseason, starting left tackle Cam Robinson to a knee injury early in the season, Leonard Fournette has been out a few games and now Corey Grant and Austin Seferian-Jenkins are on injured reserve.Oh yeah, back up left tackle Josh Wells has a groin injury keeping him out this week against the Dallas Cowboys and nickel corner D.J. Hayden is out for the third week in a row. That all sounds really bad, but the state of the Jaguars injuries are being wildly overrated.None of these injuries individually or combined are sink your season/offense bad, and if they are then there is another issue entirely we need to talk about. The Jaguars receiving group hasn’t missed Marqise Lee as most didn’t think they would. Robinson was struggling all preseason and Josh Wells filled in his place without a blip and some could even argue was more consistent. Expecting Fournette to be healthy the full season was always beyond hopeful since he hasn’t been healthy a full season since about 2015 and Grant was a package player at best. As far as Seferian-Jenkins Justin Blackmon Jerseys 2019 , his blocking will be missed but the Jaguars haven’t utilized the tight end as a receiving option since David Garrard was earning a $60 million extension.Without Fournette the Jaguars offense has showed, multiple times, it can get things down and effectively run the football. That’s not even mentioning that even with Fournette the Jaguars were mediocre running the ball. Not to undersell Fournette, but the offense hasn’t really taken a nosedive without him out there. The bread and butter of the Jaguars success is on the defensive side of the ball, not the offense. As long as the defensive side of the ball maintains their health, the Jaguars should be successful this season. They’ll still live and die by which quarterback shows up on Sunday, but none of the injuries on the offense side of the ball should have that much of a long term impact on the performance of the quarterback. If more wide receivers start dropping out Black Taven Bryan Jerseys , or another offensive lineman for the season it will become a concern. As it is however? The Jaguars have lost their third best receiver, the left tackle who was struggling, a tight end who wasn’t all that involved, and a package running back. There were issues at the running back position prior to the run of injuries that the Jaguars gambled on in the offseason and lost. Signing guys like Jamaal Charles and David Williams are things they should have done prior to or during training camp, rather than keeping six wide receivers. That’s not even going to get my hand close to the panic button. The chairman of Tottenham opposes the Premier League club's temporary home of Wembley Stadium being sold to a rival for both soccer and NFL.With building work on its own new stadium in London overrunning by several months, Tottenham has been rescued by the English Football Association by being granted longer use of Wembley for its matches than originally agreed. When Tottenham's new venue is eventually completed, it will be hosting at least two NFL matches per season under a 10-year deal in competition with Wembley and its prospective new owner. Shad Khan Taven Bryan Jerseys 2019 , who owns the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL team and London-based Premier League club Fulham, is trying to buy Wembley from the FA for 600 million pounds ($790 million) and sees it as a possible home for a London franchise.Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy's opposition to Khan's takeover was disclosed in the minutes of a meeting he held last week with the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust.Levy was recorded as saying Khan buying Wembley would not impact Tottenham's plans for the NFL but that "he was against the sale of Wembley regardless." Tottenham did not dispute the accuracy of the account when contacted by The Associated Press. The FA leadership is working to push through the sale to Khan despite opposition among members of the governing body's council which includes Tottenham director of football operations Rebecca Caplehorn. After 118 years at White Hart Lane, Tottenham's stadium was completely demolished last year to make way for a new 62,000-seat venue on the same site in north London.A planned opening at the start of the season in August was aborted and Tottenham missed a second target to be ready in the middle of September due to issues with what the club called "critical safety systems."Tottenham has provided no timeline for the opening, with the FA bailing out the club by granting the continued use of Wembley which has put an unexpected burden on the field.

So, now we go through the exercise of giving out way too early “grades” on players that have never touched an NFL field!CDTShareTweetShareShareChicago Bears: Way too early 2019 NFL Draft gradesReese Strickland-USA TODAY SportsAfter 11 months of grueling preparation for most teams and draft analysts, the three-day event that is the NFL draft has officially come and gone. It was a fast and furious weekend in the football world, even if the Bears didn’t make their first selection until late Friday evening. In the Ryan Pace era, many weren’t used to not seeing the Chicago Bears make a first or second round selection. But because of the pair of trades that gave them Khalil Mack and Anthony Miller, they found themselves playing the waiting game more than most teams.“Grading” this draft for the Bears was a little more difficult than usual. Yes, they only made five picks and none before the middle of the third round, but there are multiple factors to consider here. The trades and production of both Mack and Miller. The quality of players they were still able to find with limited picks.Pace absolutely killed the undrafted free agent portion of this exercise. With this in mind, I’m going to try and fairly evaluate what they did this weekend, without focusing too much on what they did this past season to put themselves in the position they were.(#73) Third Round: RB David Montgomery (Iowa State)Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports*Bears traded #87, #162 and a 2020 fourth rounder to Patriots for #73 and #205After just two running backs going in the first two rounds of the draft, a run started in the third round and it was apparent that Pace felt the need to trade up to land his guy. A few picks before Montgomery, the Rams shocked quite a few people and took Darrell Henderson (Memphis), which left just Montgomery and Damien Harris as the only top-tier running backs left on the board. Now, I’m not a big fan of the value Pace gave up to move 15 picks, but at least he kept both of his second rounders for 2020. As far as Montgomery goes, I had him graded as my fourth running back and most major publications had him graded as a late second or early third round pick. So in terms of the value of the player, it was a good pick. In terms of fit, he’s also a very good pick. Most will focus on straight line speed, but ignore the fact that he’s well-rounded. He can catch, he can run inside or outside zone and is a good pass protector. On top of that, he has some of the deadliest cuts coming out of the draft and led the FBS in broken/missed tackles over the past two years. He was also regarded as one of Iowa State’s top leaders and was called a “culture changer” once head coach Matt Campbell took over the program. He’s exactly the type of pick that Pace loves to make and one that should pay off from Day 1.Montgomery Grade: B+(#126) Fourth Round: WR Riley Ridley (Georgia)John David Mercer-USA TODAY SportsStarting off Day 3, it appeared that there would be maximum value at the defensive back position. Yet, as the picks started to fly, that depth started to dissipate and Pace found himself in yet another situation where he took the best player available on his board. That happened to be Ridley, who was projected as a second round pick by most publications.Riley is the brother of Calvin Ridley Stephen Denmark Chicago Bears Jerseys , who was the Atlanta Falcon’s first round pick in 2018. Calvin had a break out year and some believe that Riley possess a similar skill set and ceiling. The biggest difference between the two? Riley’s production was not nearly as prolific at Georgia as his older brother’s was at Alabama. The 21-year-old fits the profile of a player with all the tools to be successful at the NFL level, yet has not come close to reaching his full potential. That can be viewed as a good or bad thing, but in the case of the Bears, they saw opportunity. The main reason to be optimistic? Ridley’s route running is something that will help him transition much easier. With any mid-round pick, there’s always going to be a sense of risk, but the fact that Pace was able to land Ridley at this point in the draft should only mean good things for the Bears down the road.Ridley Grade: A(#205) Sixth Round: CB Duke Shelley (Kansas State)Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY SportsAdmittedly so, this was the first pick that I caught myself asking “Who?”. This is coming from an Oklahoma Sooners fan, who watches the Big 12 every weekend. Then I remembered that I rarely focus on defense because it is indeed the Big 12.So I had to turn back to the tape to get a better idea of exactly who the Bears got and I have to say, I’m impressed. Shelley is smaller (5’9, 181 pounds) and as Pace confirmed in their concluding presser, he will play in the slot as a nickel back. He’s an aggressive player that isn’t afraid to press off the line of scrimmage and most importantly, he’s a hard hitter. He may take some time to develop, but it seems as if defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano has a “type” at defensive back and that’s feistiness. Expect Shelley to develop into a bigger role as time goes on.Shelly Grade: B-(#222) Seventh Round: Kerrith Whyte (Florida Atlantic)Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY SportsHeading into Day 3, I thought running back was either a position they’d address again in the late rounds or use some of their resources to pull in a top priority undrafted free agent. Turns out, the Bears were thinking along the same lines and decided to target another speedster with big play ability in Whyte. Most people are probably aware of Devin Singletary, who was the FAU’s leading rushing and primary back. But Whyte was the guy that made a lot happen in a lesser capacity due to his speed. He ran a sub 4.4 time at his Pro Day after being snubbed for the combine and has big time ability as both a part-time runner and pass catcher. The team already has Tarik Cohen as a play maker and Cordarrelle Patterson is another guy that fits in that role as well. Even so, Whyte could prove to be a valuable pickup and is also an excellent special teamer that can return both kicks and punts. This is one of the more underrate selections in the final few rounds of the draft.Whyte Grade: A(#238) Seventh Round: Stephen Denmark (Valdosta State)It wouldn’t be a Bears draft without Pace going with at least one small school player. This year, it’s a physical freak in Denmark. Honestly, I still have zero clue as to where Valdosta State is, but I do know it’s a Division Two school and one that I wasn’t aware of until earlier today. Even so, Denmark’s testing numbers were off the charts. He’s a converted receiver and just transitioned to cornerback within the past year. He’s a raw player with a lot of physical ability. His height and overall length made him attractive, but he’s going to be a project and one that the Bears will have to be careful protecting. I don’t see a big role in Year 1, but he’s also someone that may not survive waiver claims on the practice squad. His development over the next few months will be very interesting to monitor.Denmark Grade: B-Priority Undrafted Free AgencyI’m not going to get too heavy into this because there are 31 names that have either been signed or are being brought in on a tryout basis for next weekend’s rookie mini-camp.With that being said, I’d like to highlight a few names as to why I truly believe Pace blew the doors off this portion of the draft process.WR Emanuel Hall (Missouri)TE Dax Raymond (Utah State)OL Alex Bars (Notre Dame)How these three players went undrafted is somewhat baffling to me. Now, obviously we see this happen each year, but especially for a player like Hall, I was shocked when he was still on the board heading into Day 3 Chicago Bears Jerseys Stitched , much less into this portion of the process. Hall had many projections in the third round due to his speed and overall ability. Raymond comes from a smaller school and the production wasn’t overly crazy, but he was still someone that he should have had his name called on Saturday, even if it was later in the day. Bars also fits that mold, but I would imagine that Harry Hiestand had a decent amount of pull in bringing him in. This may some hyperbolic, but I truly believe Bars can be Kyle Long’s replacement in a year or two. Health is the key for him, but if healthy, he’s a third or fourth round interior lineman.UDFA Grade: A+Overall GradeAgain, the Bears found themselves without a pick in the first two rounds and that needs to be taken into account. But even so, it’s hard not to like what Pace was able to do with limited resources. In a lot of ways, he took a few ingredients and turned it into damn-near a full draft worth of acceptable and borderline good talent with the help of his undrafted group.Guys like Montgomery and Ridley are going to contribute on Day 1, while others like Whyte will play roles and that’s completely fine. Pace’s track record speaks for itself, especially in the middle rounds and undrafted portion. All in all, I came away pretty impressed and more than satisfied with what they ended up acquiring and for that, I have to give this a good grade.Overall Grade: B The first high school all-star game to be played outside the United States will take place Dec. 22 in Mexico City, three days after many of the players involved will reveal which colleges they will attend. The Pro Football Hall of Fame World Bowl Presented by Xenith will be at Azul Stadium, with players chosen by a selection team of scouts, Hall of Famers and former NFL executives. Rod Woodson, the outstanding defensive back and special teams player who entered the Hall of Fame in 2009 will serve as host."The NCAA had the change in rules with the early signing day and we're using that to our benefit," Woodson says. "The players will be on the campus of Azteca TV and they get to walk a red carpet, pick the hat they are going to wear to show what school they're going to. It will be a big deal and definitely worth going to as a player. It will make history and it will be something they will remember forever."More than 30 All-Americans will show their choices, and CBS Sports Network will televise the proceedings.Woodson recalls that when he signed to go to Purdue, only his parents accompanied him in the high school athletic director's office. Maybe one newspaper covered it.Woodson notes that many of the U.S. players have never been out of the country. They will find that American football, while not on the level of soccer south of the border, is plenty popular."In Mexico, they have been playing American football for more than 50 years, which surprised me to know they are doing it for that long," he says. "They have some really good teams and stadiums around Mexico Stephen Denmark Jersey 2019 , and the same thing in Europe."The biggest difference from Mexican players than the players from the U.S., we have more resources and our athletes have year-round training, where in Mexico and Europe they don't."So we have coaching sessions for the coaches to let them understand football even better and they can give some education to the players for a better product on the field."WARNER'S GIFTHall of Famer Kurt Warner and his wife Brenda, through their First Things First Foundation, have given a Christmas surprise to two single mothers and their children in the Phoenix area. With the help of some local businesses, the foundation is furnishing the new homes recently built and purchased by the two families through the foundation's "Homes for the Holidays" program. The families were surprised by the gifts on Thursday, when they thought they were just going through a walk-through of the houses. The homes were built through the First Things First Foundation, the Habitat for Humanity and others to help working single mothers become homeowners. The foundation says 49 such homes have been built through the program since 2002, 23 in the Phoenix area.JERSEY REPORTHow popular is Saquon Barkley? Well, lots of fans want to look like him.Enough so that Barkley tops the DICK'S Sporting Goods Jersey report for sales. Not only is the New York Giants running back's jersey No. 1 among rookies, he's No. 1 overall. And so are the Giants, despite being 5-8 and on the very fringes of playoff contention.Barkley is trailed by Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, Browns QB Baker Mayfield, Patriots QB Tom Brady and Bears linebacker Khalil Mack in the overall rankings. Mayfield is the only other rookie in the top 10, while Mack is the only defensive player.Behind Mack on the defensive players' sales list are Denver linebacker Von Miller, Steelers LB T.J. Watt, Browns defensive end Myles Garrett and Panthers LB Luke Kuechly. Watt's older and more established brother, Houston DE J.J. CHANGE grants are funded by the NFL's Crucial Catch partnership with ACS. Funds raised address cancer prevention, early detection, and timely access to follow-up care, helping more people catch cancer early, when it may be easier to treat. These efforts have impacted more than 750,000 people, particularly in high-risk communities."It's such an honor to work with Fanthropic to offer this amazing experience for a fan to attend the Super Bowl, and raise critical funds to help us continue to fight cancer," said Sharon Byers, chief development, marketing and communications officer for the American Cancer Society.Entry forms are available on NFL/CrucialCatch.GRANDMA'S LOVEBrowns guard Joel Bitonio has a campaign manager working on his Pro Bowl election."My grandma really wants me to go," he said. "She thinks I'm a good player and she votes a lot."The fifth-year pro has a good chance of being chosen for his first Pro Bowl. If his grandma, Jan Akin, who lives in Durango, Colorado, and plans to attend the game, has anything to do with it, he's a shoo-in."She votes a lot," said Bitonio. "She hasn't given me an update, but she's retired.
