By dividing Devin and Colt Madden nfl 20 coins, Homecoming feels larger in scope than the past year's story, but also more disjointed. That is really Colt's narrative -- that the cocky former star receiver comes with a tremendously satisfying and emotional character arc, whereas Devin's longer rote NFL adventures feel like an afterthought. I can not blame EA for focusing on Colt -- Porter is funny, charming and all-around amazing -- but I still wish I cared just as much about what was going on with Devin.

Last year's Longshot style performed like a Telltale Games-style adventure name, with quick-time occasions and interactive dialog sequences that let you influence the outcome of the narrative. Homecoming is much more streamlined compared, as nearly all its gameplay sections consist of real slices of NFL or higher school soccer games. Those hoping for a more interactive experience may be let down, but I personally didn't miss the dull mini-games from last year's narrative, and enjoyed having the ability to kick back during cutscenes.

Luckily, Homecoming retains Longshot's bright, inviting approach to Madden's notoriously menacing gameplay. You will usually just have to focus on a single component of the sport at one time (such as passing or catching), and the mode does a nice job easing you in to core Madden features like complex moves or on-the-fly audibles.

While I'm admittedly not the best Madden player, I felt genuinely challenged by some of the game's after segments, which compelled me to read the field and make wise decisions. However, while I appreciated the amount of true football drama in Homecoming, it frequently came at the expense of the game's pacing. The last third of my approximately five-hour playthrough was a gauntlet of long, frustratingly difficult match scenarios, which I found myself slogging through just to cheap Mut 20 coins move the narrative ahead.
