Diablo Immortal, which is open-to-play and free, was widely criticised at the time of its launch in June because of its diverse microtransactions and "pay-to-win" legendary gem system D2R Items. As we consider the classes we wanted to make sure that the types of experiences that players remembered fondly from earlier Diablo games would be available however, we also wanted to bring these into the most contemporary versions of them."
Some aspects of Diablo IV's classes, while not technically new but haven't been played in quite a while. The Rogue Returns from the first Diablo as a combination of Diablo's Amazon and Assassin classes. The Druid from Diablo also makes an appearance. The other classes - the Barbarian buy diablo 2 resurrected items, Sorceress, and Necromancer--have been in Diablo, III, and Diablo Immortal.
