Prior to the release date, players knew Diablo Immortal would include microtransactions D2R ladder items. After all, the game is free-to-play, and none of the story content or main features are locked behind a paywall. Blizzard requires revenue from Diablo Immortal at some point, but it wasn't known to what extent the company will make money off of what it touted as the most "ambitious" Diablo game to be released to.

Many assumed that it would comprise an exclusive currency, premium cosmetics, as well as an access to a battle pass. it has all that plus more. What was less clear and, more importantly, what Blizzard was unable to reveal the important the role money plays when can be used to help you advance your character in Diablo Immortal's finale and the advantages getting it offers you over other players.

As a player, you want as many of these amazing gems, and the most Resonance possible. Gems are upgraded using undesirable Legendary Gems, and higher grade gems are not only requiring the scraps of unneeded gems, but also require hundreds of gems of the same type to get upgraded.
