Your characters will be in a similar situation. Levels, abilities and some other character development won't transfer over to meseta pso2 New Genesis. Instead, everyone will start over at level 1, and not all weapons and components will be available due to using different skins. We haven't heard anything regarding courses or if there'll be major gameplay changes, but we'll likely hear more as the release date gets closer. Skill Rings are the only equipment that will not transfer since they will not be in New Genesis whatsoever. Likewise crafting is getting a much-needed overhaul, so those things won't be accessible .

Mags will carry over, however they won't have the impact you are utilized to in PSO2. They will be more of a pet in New Genesis that doesn't effect your stats. This is another fantastic design choice because new players often fall in the pit of an unoptimized character. Feeding them any item without realizing exactly what it does contributes to getting random stats and contributes to issues like being not able to equip weapons and difficulty at higher levels.

New Genesis can improve on other aspects of PSO2, too. After a big upgrade that cut down the boring objectives of story quests, what's left is a series of incoherent cutscenes with the strange boss struggle scattered in between. New Genesis, however, has its own campaign set in the future, so I am hoping Sega takes some of the lessons and builds a new story that is really worth playing and won't need to be trimmed down in a couple of years.

For fans like me, it's simple to reconcile these annoyances because the thrill of fighting elaborate supervisors and grinding for that upcoming big update are all really enjoyable. But I have difficulty recommending a game that requires players to observe hours of videos just to understand some of its basics. New Genesis, though, feels just like a clean slate. Taking what already works about PSO2 and modernizing it seems to be an easy win. Hopefully that's what Sega is really planning instead of buy PSO2 Meseta a surface-level upgrade with fancy graphics. Big new surroundings and higher-detailed characters are fine and all, but it'll mean nothing if New Genesis doesn't fix the core issues keeping PSO2 from being great.

Steven enjoys nothing more than a long grind, which is exactly why his specialization is about investigative feature reporting China's PC games scene, bizarre stories that upset his parents, and MMOs. He's Canadian but can't ice skate. Embarrassing.
