Even those of us who played the game daily in the 2000s would probably struggle to master the first ever release called RuneScape Classic. The players could take on anyone or even one another OSRS Buy Gold. The graphics were not basic. It could only fit about 1,200 players at a time without breaking.
Games can't be allowed to fail today. Titanfall 2 isn't getting the resources needed to repair its online gameplay on the PC. Anthem was dropped midway through the development of its major overhaul. Fable Legends was pulled before it could even fully launch. The game is now either must be Fortnite or else die trying.
A developer's passion can be largely irrelevant to a publisher, too. Dragon Age 4 has been pulled twice due to greater-up interference continually dictating game's direction. Metal Gear players that clearly prefer single-player games, received the multiplayer game Metal Gear Survive in 2018. This isn't even to look at all of the companies Activision Blizzard wastes on constant Call of Duty development.
Thank god Jagex started at a moment that it was able to remain an in its own. When the player base started to fall off in the mid 2000s the publisher could have pulled the plug on the entire thing. Heck, Raven Software started laying people off, while Warzone was making billions of dollars runescape 07 gold, and even a win could mean disaster for the humans who play the game.
