It’s time for our weekly look at the matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and their upcoming opponents. This week it’s the Seattle Seahawks. Since Seattle used to reside in the AFC White Laquon Treadwell Jersey , these two conference foes haven’t faced off as often as you might think over the years, despite some very notable recent meetings.Once again, the numbers provided in this piece are all provided by the fine folks at Pro Football Reference.Total Games Between the Seahawks and Vikings: 15All-Time Record: Seahawks, 9-5 regular season, 1-0 postseasonTotal Vikings Points Scored, Head-to-Head: 333 (22.2 points/game)Total Seahawks Points Scored, Head-to-Head: 384 (24.0 points/game)Longest Vikings Winning Streak vs. Seahawks: 2 (22 October 2006 - 22 November 2009)Longest Seahawks Winning Streak vs. Vikings: 4 (4 November 2012 - 10 January 2016)Most Recent Vikings Victory in Seattle: 22 October 2006 (Final score 31-13)Most Recent Seahawks Victory in Seattle: 17 November 2013 (Final score 41-20)Biggest Vikings Victory in Seattle: 18 points, 22 October 2006 (Final score 31-13)Biggest Seahawks Victory in Seattle: 25 points, 29 September 2002 (Final score 48-23)Current Win Streak: Seahawks, 4 gamesA few notes about this series of games:The Seahawks are currently enjoying the longest winning streak in the history of this matchup, winning the last four contests between the two teams. It has been just over nine years since the Vikings were victorious against the Seahawks in a 35-9 home rout led by Brett Favre. You might remember the last time these two teams saw each other. It was really cold, it was the playoffs, and...you know what? I don’t want to talk about that game anymore. We all know how it ended. Technically the last time these two teams played each other was Week 3 of the 2018 preseason. THAT game was fun! It was a thrilling 21-20 victory for the Vikings back in August. Kyle Sloter threw an incredible touchdown pass to Chad Beebe and then Jake Wieneke scored on the two-point conversion with under a minute left. That preseason comeback win TOTALLY overshadows some meaningless Wild Card game a few years back, right? The last two times these teams met in Seattle back in 2013, they were much further apart in the standings than they are in 2018. The lowly 2-7 Vikings were in the middle of Leslie Frazier’s death march while the 9-1 Seahawks were on their way to a Super Bowl title. The results were predictable: a 41-20 Seattle beatdown where the Vikings lost four turnovers and Russell Wilson only had to throw 18 passes to get to 230 yards and two scores. Vikings fans were treated to interceptions by both Christian Ponder AND Matt Cassel that day. But at least they held Percy Harvin to one reception for 17 yards in his first game against the Vikings after being traded. And Blair Walsh made all four of his kicks that day! (Bet you didn’t think that’s how Walsh was going to be mentioned in this post, did you?)We’re pretty sure Monday night’s game will be closer than the last contest these two teams played in Seattle, especially with so much on the line for both teams. Hopefully the Vikings can reverse their recent trend against the Seahawks and take control of the NFC Wild Card race. Happy Wednesday http://www.authenticsminnesotavikings.com/cheap-xavier-rhodes-jersey , everyone! We’ve made it to the peak of the week, it’s an easy downhill coast into the weekend, and the next big game for our beloved purple and gold. I hope they’re keeping their focus on Detroit, because we’ve seen the Lions dig deep and play well above their seasonal average when they play the Vikings. On paper, it looks to be one that the Vikings should be able to handle, but you can throw that paper out the window when it comes to divisional games, especially at this point in the season. It’s the end of the season, the Lions have nothing to lose, and they would like nothing more than to knock off a division rival who has their eye on the playoffs. So, the Vikes better be prepared, and I am confident they will be. The Lions defense has had a decent year, they’re about at the middle of the pack in most statistical categories, with the pass defense slightly above average, and the run defense slightly below average. In a deviation from the norm, it’s their offense that has been hurting them, and that is mainly due to a rash of injuries. Their WR corps was bombarded with injuries early in the season, and it has shown in their production. The Vikings secondary is very good in coverage http://www.authenticsminnesotavikings.com/cheap-matt-wile-jersey , so I expect to see Detroit try to get the ball out quickly. If they have Stafford sit back in the pocket waiting for a WR to get open, the defense may shatter that single game team sack record that they tied earlier this season. In looking through some stats, I see that the Vikings are 4 for 11 this year on field goals from 40-49 yards. That’s 36%. Might as well just go for it on 4th if the ball is between the 23 & 33 yard lines, the conversion % would likely be higher than 36%. They’ve also managed to miss at least one field goal in every 10-yard incremental category, with the exception of the 10-19 yard category. That’s right, we have not missed a field goal from 10-19 yards this year! We haven’t attempted one, either, but hey, no need to get bogged down in details, gotta celebrate the little victories. If we’re down by 2 points with 3 seconds left in a playoff game, and we line up for a 40 yard field goal to win it, I’m relatively certain that I’ll have a heart attack before he ever kicks it. My dying words will be something about kickers being the root of all evil.........and I’ll also likely blame Ponder, to the confusion of the attending paramedics.Around the DN since our last open thread:Luft Krigare posted Good Morning Gjallarhorn Episode 041 - In the Raw With the Grand Poobah.Ted takes a look at Brian O’Neill, who is quietly having a pretty good rookie year.
