Rap artist Lil Durk claims he is taking some time off to recoup after being hurt by a pyrotechnic at the Lollapalooza celebration in Chicago.

The 29-year-old was playing to a crowd of thousands when a smoke bomb went off in his face on Saturday night.

In fan-captured video, he was seen staggering backwards from the tool and also cleaning his eyes with a tee.

He completed the performance, Lil Durk later on posted an image from hospital with a patch over one eye.

" Due to the event that occurred at Lollapalooza in Chicago on phase, I' ma relax & concentrate on my health and wellness," he captioned the image on Instagram.

" I completed my performance the other day for my fans. Appreciate y' all.".

Lil Durk has greater than 20 United States trip dates scheduled before completion of the year. It is not yet clear how many of those shows will be influenced.

Lollapalooza has not talked about the case, which came as Lil Durk was carrying out the track Back In Blood throughout his early evening set.

" Woah, woah, you alright, brother?" his DJ could be heard claiming. "That a person came a little close. It fired straight up.".

Lil Durk took a couple of minutes to collect himself before continuing his performance. "Say goodbye to smoke, allow's do it," he informed the jam-packed crowd, according to Web page Six.

The drill celebrity scored his 2nd US number one in March, with his 7th workshop album 7220. The document had his largest hit to day, Broadway Girls, with country singer Morgan Wallen.

Their collaboration raised a few brows, as Wallen had actually been involved in dispute after a video emerged revealing him yelling the N-word outside his home in Nashville.

The singer was temporarily suspended by his record label as well as banned by a number of c and w television and radio stations.

Lil Durk later protected Wallen, claiming he was "not a racist" and had actually "just made a mistake".

" We had a long talk. He had his public scenario ... I attest him and also he good," the rap artist included.

"That one came a little close. It fired directly up.".
