SAP have announced the biggest change to their SAP Lumira and Analytics strategies. The change stimulated a variety of reactions like customer’s feedback and partner’s pleas. This post will give you an in-depth detail of the impact that these changes have had on the on-premise SAP BusinessObject customers. The impact will clearly show you whether or not SAP business object training is the one you should go for.
So let’s take a closer look!
Longevity
By announcing the official release of SAP BusinessObject updates, the company has ensured that this platform will be supported for the next 10 years minimum. This is good news for many business owners and partners. This indicates that all the underlying products such as Crystal report (CR), Analysis for office, SAP Lumira Designer and Web Intelligence (WEBI) that run on the SAP BusinessObject platform, will derive this support till 2028.
Life Support
Unfortunately, this is SAP Lumira discovery last innovation development, the current Lumira roadmap is the perfect example of that. It will, however, be maintained and supported by SAP till 2028, as long as you transfer to a supported SAP BusinessObjects release.
Generally, SAP Lumira Discovery can be used with the existing feature set and functionalities with an assurance that it will be supported for another decade.
Lumira Designer Roadmap
The roadmap includes:
Application Design
Some people still call storyboards a dashboard or a report. Even most complex and advanced IT-developed applications are called as the dashboard, more often than not. Basically, SAP customers never said goodbye to the complex applications with dashboard use cases (especially the ones that came from Web Application Design).
Legacy Tools Migration
SAP has proved to be the best server of application use case without a real competitor in the market. SAP is also recommending that the heritage BI products such as Web Application Designer (WAD), Xcelsius or SAP Dashboard and Analysis for OLAP be migrated to SAP Lumira Designer.
App Design
The introduction of Application Design use case to SAP analytic cloud doesn’t simply mean that Lumira will not witness innovations such as Discovery or it will face similar problems as Discovery. There will always be customers who would stick to their existing on-premise system without moving to the cloud or those who would move to the cloud for better management.
It’s beneficial to bring successful application design onto the cloud in the long run for Lumira Design as it may require interoperability.
