Being able to create this in a weekend just isn't genius. It was crucial to know so I could determine out if I could essentially build it in time. Reddit apparently used a good deal of time little bit packing their picture in redis, but that appears like a waste of time to me. A weekend is not enough time to make it generation completely ready for a web site like reddit. To be very clear, if I was constructing this for reddit a weekend wouldn't be enough time. I hooked up pngjs to render out the image, and it can take about 300ms of time for each render. A single CPU can only render the webpage three occasions for every second. The shopper needs to load the webpage rapidly with out downloading the entire historical past of functions. To do that I built a Rest endpoint which simply just returns a PNG of the existing webpage. But rendering that graphic out to PNG is sluggish.
