How would you rate the Realm of the Mad God train?

In Realm of the Mad God, a train is a large group of players who find a way and travel along it in a never-ending loop around the world. Auto-firing, each moving at a slightly different speed, every enemy in front of or flanked by this force of nature is wiped out in an instant.

Trains aren't part of the Mad God's rules, but it fits perfectly into the system and is a ton of fun. Killing enemies as part of a team rewards each member of that team with XP. The number is not split, so every participating player gets the full amount. Therefore, players form trains to level up at a very fast rate.

The game can barely handle it at times, especially when you come across a horde of beasts that are wiped out in seconds, with the frame rate slowing to a crawl with lots of green numbers and "Level up!" If you're good enough, you'll accumulate tons of RotMG Items to help level up.

Trains are so prevalent in Mad God because upgrades and permadeath are the norms. You start with one of 13 classes, the wizard, and the rest unlock when you reach certain in-game goals - for example, reaching the level 20 cap. The game is an unusual hybrid of MMO-lite missions and a leveling structure with twin-stick shooter real-time combat. Then it speeds up everything.

The game starts on the Nexus, a hub where you can buy and store gear, hang out in the guild lobby, and trade with other players. It is also a sanctuary. One of the main features of the Mad God is the ability to return to the Nexus instantly at any time. When your character dies, they're gone forever, including anything they're carrying. The first thing you should do is hotkey the "Return to Nexus" command to the key you can hit with the least amount of thought, as it's probably the most important command in the game.

Nexus will open randomly generated worlds, each world can accommodate up to 85 players. These places are teeming with everything from lowly snakes and pirates to terrifying monsters that can blind, paralyze, slow, one-hit, and generally turn unwary adventurers into a pulp. If you give up the training fun, just follow the on-screen quest arrows to fight bosses and ranks that suit your level.

Impromptu teams of small players form around these, sharing the same goals and all that sweet XP, and leveling up that way is quick and fun. Enemies drop loot, and each class has four class-specific gear slots that can gradually be filled with better and better stuff.

As you level up, not only do your characters become more powerful, but their weapons and equipment begin to improve in tandem; you might get a scroll that increases the area damage of a wizard's spells, or a scroll that lets your rogue move closer to its original speed times the speed of moving rings.
