Bad breath or halitosis in medical parlance, is unpleasant or foul smelling breath, which may be chronic or acute based on the cause. The idea of halitosis is coined by combining the Latin word for breath (halitus) together with the Greek suffix (osis), meaning situation.
The essential cause of bad breath in most men and women is the whitish covering that covers the surface of the posterior part of their tongue. Much more precisely, the bacteria that thrive on this warm and moist covering of the tongue cause bad breath.
