Structural integration is fundamentally an approach to the manipulation of body's tissues that was that was developed through Dr. Harry W. Diehl, M.D. Sometimes, it is called Computational Integration. The idea of structural integration holds that tissues of various dimensions can be organized to fit more precisely into one another which can increase the resistance of the tissue against strain. The idea of structural integration was in use from the beginning of period, and was discovered by Einstein (a pioneer in quantum theory) as well as others. This very concept was discovered by Hertz when he was conducting experiments using magnets (I have covered this before in other posts).

Instead, the goal is the introduction of movement to an area through myofascial connections. In this case, the key concept to understand is that there exists a fascia or tensional system that is hyperactive exists that has been hypersensitive for a variety different reasons. The tensional network is the real issue. If it's properly addressed through regular Structural Integration practice and treatment, the fascia will start to heal.
